I'm not going to be able to run the quest for about a week.
I got a call today about my father, and it wasn't good news.
I'm flying over to spain for the funeral in a few hours
I can answer any questions you have for a bit.

I apologise for this, and for wasting a thread, but I thought I should tell you what was happening before leaving. I'll be back next Saturday.

I am no Spaniard or Brit but in the US you cant inherit debt that you haven't cosigned to (maybe if you inherit a mortgaged property and want to keep it you can but not unsecured debts). I think you should talk to a lawyer about that and don't make any payments on his debts unless your lawyer says you have to (in the us making payments on "inherited" debt often constitutes defacto cosigning).
