LAST TIME ON GUNDAM AGE QUEST: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Gundam+AGE+Quest

Check my Twitter for updates and reschedules: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Your name is Jake Crocker and you traveled through time and space to reach Mars to save the parents of a young man who is sworn to serve the man keeping them prisoner. You have just reached Vagan the homeworld of the people determined to exterminate all of humanity and reclaim the earth as their own.

With you are the Magnificent 7, the first X-Rounder Federation Special Forces team under the command of your old buddy Carlos. Daiki and Ma-G are also with you and are determined to follow you to the end of time and space if need be.

The Treasure Star is currently cloaked using an Invisible Umbrella System taken from the Mini-Colony that hid the ship for all these years. While it’s active you can’t use any of the ships sensors or weapons, however you are absolutely invisible unless something enters the invisible bubble surrounding your ship.

Now that you are at the Vagan Homeworld, the first order of business is to find a way to get into the massive, almost alien colony. On top of that you need to find a good place to put the ship. It should be able to run the IUS for quite a while, so all you need to do is make sure no one runs across it and enters its field.

What do you wish to do?

x7 RGE-1300XR Pioneer α;The Federations First X-Rounder use mobile suit, developed from the G-Bouncer, the Fersia, and the butt-ton of X-Rounder data you acquired. It has a DODS Beam Rifle, Beam Vulcans, Beam Sabers, a Shield, and two large bits capable of ranged and melee attacks with DODS Cannons and Drills.

AGE-X1 Crusader Gundam: The machine that started it all. You don’t have any wears for it, but you have your Excalibuster, a pair of EM Crossbows, an Arthurian Shield with a prototype beam shield emitter, a pair of beam daggers and an EM Ballista, EM Bullpup or an Prototype EM Heavy Rifle to choose from.

RGE-790AXR Genoace Experimental Anti-X-Rounder Test Type: Woolf’s old Genoace equipped with an Anti-X-Rounder system you’ve been developing over the years. You used what you had available due to the last models blowing to pieces. This model should work…you hope. It’s equipped with a pair of forearm mounted beam sabers, beam Vulcans in the head and in the shoulders and carries one of the prototype Heavy EM Rifles your test team was trying out.

AGE-1D AGE-1 Gundam Daiki Version: Daiki’s Gundam, created from his father by reverse engineering an Adele which was ‘old’ to him, this AGE-1 is near identical to Flits. Daiki still has the Phoenix Wear lying around (which you kind of took data from and gave to flit, which is why Yurika has one).

x7 Prototype Genorider: A motorcycle that can transform into an exoskeleton. Great for infiltration missions and infantry combat, comes with a special suit and helmet to reduce wear and tear on the body.
>>
>>25719130
Carlos Ramon: Your buddy from when you were dragged into bringing Grodek to justice. He’s a pretty powerful X-Rounder but he’s a pilot first and foremost. He’s a good leader, descent foot soldier and a terribly good punster.

Desil L'Ciel: Your little bro who’s not so little anymore. Powerful X-Rounder with a preference for long range weaponry. He’s pretty damn good in a mobile suits, but he doesn’t do very well when it comes to handling side arms and stuff. Nice, clean shaven and totally not psychotic looking.

Rena Zarth: Dirks love interest. Brilliant engineer and a pretty decent pilot. She comes from an influential family living in the Zarth Colonies. She discovered data dating back to the Colony Nation Wars. She’s a little too keen on looking at the AGE builder but she seems more over ambitious than anything.

Alfred Fornell: Nice guy. Very professional. Married, has a nice little kid back home whom he doesn't talk about due to the obvious Death Flags it would raise. He gives you some back-story on the Magnificent 7 and how Carlos formed him. Overall nice guy. He's Third in Command after Desil, although not that keen on leading.
Duke Cambridge: Large, black and ripped. He apparently was a professional basketball player who took a X-Rounder aptitude test on a bet and scored to a level B+. He military offered him a lot of money to join up so he did. Duke intends to go back to basketball once this is all said and done. He has a thing for gold plated stuff, even though he admits a gold plated basketball would suck to use. He carried around enough Oder Eaters to appease NUGSUGORATH when you were moving through the time Tunnel.
>>
>>25719192
Jessica Spriggan: Grandaughter of Dr. Spriggans, the guy who helped make your glasses. She's young, small and not all the talkative. She joined up with the Magnificent 7 to help collect more data on X-Rounders. You notice she wears a downsized version of your glasses. A 'mass produced' version so to speak. You bond over your mutual painful experiences due to your X-Rounder abilities. She wasn't as bad as you, but seizures are seizures. However there are still issues with a lot of X-rounders and there is a demand for a greater understanding of the X-Region which she hopes to help her grandfather gain by gathering data for him with the Magnificent 7.

Zeal Minseal: Weird SOB. Apparently he was just a quartermaster before his X-Rounder abilities were discovered. He joined the military to open a...soap company? Apparently he has a ridiculously powerful sense of smell. Also, he appears to be on a cocktail of different medications. He's twitchy, making you unsure if that's a condition or if it's because he's doped up and crazy. You talked to Carlos about it and he says that Zeal is reliable if kind of weird to be around.

Daiki Ryuuzaki: Time traveler and the guy responsible for you existing. His friends went mad and turned on one another leaving him the only person who remembers the old timeline. He’s a powerful X-Rounder and a great pilot but he’s emotionally and spiritually broken. Being with you has obviously made him better and the promise to destroy the Grand-Wing System has raised his spirits.

Ask Desil to give us more info about how we could infiltrate the colony and where we're most likely to find his parents.
We can park the Treasure Star near that entrance and just go in in the Genoriders. I'd rather not bring out the MS at this point.
>>
>>25719374
>>25719169
"Desil? You're the Vagan expert around here. What are the possible entrances to the colony, and which one is the least protected?"

“Well the colony is split into three parts. The housing sector in the middle, that big red sphere and the two military/manufacturing sectors at the ends. There are hundreds of hangers and maintenance hangs scattered over two military sectors however all of them are monitored in some respect and the larger ones usually have active guards and security. Our best bet would be to enter using the Genoriders through the smallest maintenance hangar we can find.” Desil explains, draw up a rough diagram of Vagan on one of the computer screens.

“Do you have any idea where they would be holding your parents?” You ask.

“No, I’m sorry I don’t. They could be absolutely anywhere. My guesses would be ether at Ezelcant’s Palace in the housing sector or in some lab or prison in the military sector” Desil shrugs, sadly not having a clue where they could be.

“Will we have to worry about getting detected?” Rena asks. “I mean the Vagans made the Invisible Umbrella System, they must have a way of detecting it right?”

“Not when I was last around. Since the Earth Federation didn’t have it and since we kept such good coordination with other ships, we never bothered to screen for any other possible ships with it.” Desil says with a shrug. "It's like an invisible man worrying about other invisible men. Why worry about what you can't see when no one can see you?"

(cont)
>>
>>25719588
At least you have that going for you. As you think over things Carlos speaks up. “Should we really just jump on in and run into the colony? I mean we know very little about the layout of the colony or what kind of security they have. Hell we don’t know anything about the local area and what kind of mining and agricultural set ups they have. Maybe we should scout first. Everything we learn here could prove to be invaluable when we return home.”

“But if we wait too long to launch the operation we’ll be more at risk to be discovered and once we’re found we’re pretty much screwed.” Rena states.

Well Jake, what do you think you should do?
>>
>>25719594
They're both right. We need both data and we need to be fast as we can.
If we get inside the colony, could MaG remotely hack their systems and steal whatever she can? First she'd need to get us the data for Desil's parents, and then something on the layout, industry, infrastructure, the works.

Goddamn do I wish we had that data-miner with us. I doubt that we can make fast enough now.
>>
>>25719787
You could have Ma G remotely hack their systems and store as much data on the Treasure Star's computer banks, however you have no idea what kind of security the Vagan Computer Network could have. There's also the possibility that Ma G could accidentally corrupt data or unintentionally introduce a virus that could send the entire colony into chaos. It's unlikely but the Vagan's systems have and still are pretty abnormal compared to standard ones.

There is also the possibility of the Vagans tracking back the data feed to the Treasure Star.

There's risks involved but it should be do able.
>>
>>25719882
And quickly making a data-miner? We could add in a self-destruct sequence as well, so it'd double as both an espionage and sabotage tool.
Drop him in a remote maintenance hatch, and pick it up when we're going out. That way, they don't detect a data leak.
And if we do get detected, we can add a fast transmission tool that'd just upload everything to the TS and then blow the fuck up.

But first, let's see if we can get the sensors working. Would linking the MS to the generator allow us to use our scanners even with the IUS?
>>
>>25719988
>But first, let's see if we can get the sensors working. Would linking the MS to the generator allow us to use our scanners even with the IUS?

No. The IUS blocks all forms of detection both from outside and from inside. It's not a power issues, it's just a drawback of the ISU. Your thankful that you can still see where your going.

>And quickly making a data-miner? We could add in a self-destruct sequence as well, so it'd double as both an espionage and sabotage tool.Drop him in a remote maintenance hatch, and pick it up when we're going out. That way, they don't detect a data leak. And if we do get detected, we can add a fast transmission tool that'd just upload everything to the TS and then blow the fuck up.

You could build a data miner. There might be enough computer parts lying around to build one and the chassis can easily be made using the AGE Builder. However even with Daiki and Rena's help it'd still take several hours to make one capable of high speed upload and tranmission as well as the self destruct.
>>
>>25720191
We have time, I guess. Let's try to find a small enough maintenance shaft while we're making that data-miner.
Unless someone has a better idea, that is.
>>
>>25719882
Can we still communicate with things when we're cloaked? Vagan ships can talk to each other under the Invisible Umbrella, but we improvised our stealth system. If we could make a set of remote drones based of CDACE's we could comb over the surface of the colony with passive sensors for places to enter from. We give them tight-beam laser comms and they could stay in contact with us unnoticed, even attach to Vagan antenna systems and serve as an access point for hacking attempts. I figure they should go unnoticed provided we use compressed-gas thrusters for maneuvering and give them an initial boost using the launch catapult. Maybe we could even disguise them as standard Vagan space launches, the kind used to ship small payloads around the orbital facilities.
>>
>>25720545
Sounds like a plan. I'm not sure if we could communicate with those little buggers, though.
But if we do make them, we could latch them onto Vagan communications and sensors, find the best hiding spot, and make that data miner without risking getting detected.
>>
>>25720658
>>25720545
CDACE's Drones were capture drones and they could only be used in atmosphere. Using them as a model would save you time but it would take quite a while to make a mere 5 drones and even longer if you didn't have MaG controlling them.

Besides, having drones fly around Vagan wouldn't be very smart, Desil swears up and down that there security is fierce. If they spot anything out of place they will bare down on it and destroy it if they believe it might be a threat.

So, Drones will take too long, a Dataminer will take several precious hours of time and doing anything to the Vagan Network might really fuck things up in regards to the colony itself since you don't know it's set up or what security measures it has.

On top of that you have no idea what the lay out of Vagan outside of Desil's vague memory of the place or even where to find his parents.

The more you think about it the more you realize you should have come more prepared. However your already here so you might as well work with what you have.

If you want to risk fucking up all of Vagan or getting caught you can attempt to use Ma G or the Dataminer if your willing to spend several hours making it. While your making it you can have Daiki fly the ship around to get a look over the colony and get a better idea of how things are set up.

However it's up to you.
What do you want to do Jake?

>>25720811
The data miner, I guess. Seems like the safest bet at the moment.

Besides, with all their security, I doubt that they're expecting enemy forces to invade here.
They're most probably boarding their ships to invade Earth, and protecting the main entrances.

On a side note, are there any meteors nearby? We could park the TS on one.
I doubt they'll look for us there while we prepare.
>>
>>25720811
Damn, and here I was hoping we could make a distributed sensor array (note: Once we have nanotech on lockdown, make dust mote-sized cameras, deploy like anti-beam chaff missiles). Okay, let's take a flight around the colony and do some passive scans. I'm sure we can figure something out from heat emissions. And I guess we should rig up the data miner. No point in not doing that while we're scouting.

I seriously doubt that we're going to find a lot of armed forces at the moment.
They're probably aboard the Downes that's going towards Big Ring. And if there are troops, they're boarding the ships nearby.

Not really expecting an ambush, and most of them are concentrated near those big openings in the middle.
There's probably a maintenance hatch somewhere that's not in the middle of the hornet's nest.
>>
>>25721200
I was thinking more along the lines of radiators. Give Second Moon's design it can't be radiating excess heat with regular panel radiators like Federation colony designs use. Probably it's using a charged-droplet radiator setup. In which case there would be relatively large regions of space where any heat emissions from our thrusters approaching would go unnoticed, as it would be disguised by the background emission from the magnetically-contained mist used to dump heat to space. It would be a lot easier to sneak in that way.
>>
>>25721258
Oh, I see. Yeah, that sounds reasonable.
We get close enough, we could hide ourselves from their heat sensors. And unless they come into optical range, we're safe.
We should then try to avoid the entrances near the red ball thingy, as most of the hangars are located there.
>>
>>25721043
>>25720959
Visual sensors only mean sight based sensors sadly, the IUS screws up perceived heat emissions and such. Still, you have the Treasure Star fly around the colony a couple times, taking pictures and footage, while zooming in at maximum magnification for some better observations.

You, Rena and Daiki begin to work on the Dataminer, collecting whatever parts you can find or spare to build it.

After several hours of hard work you finish the Dataminer with Rena and Daiki running some quick tests on it as the ship comes to a halt near a section of the Vagan colony.

The observations led to the discovery of two things. The first was that most of the Vagans forces were concentrated towards the docks or were boarding the large ships headed towards Earth. Apparently despite all the supposedly security, the Vagan's didn't run any regular patrols due to the fact they'd have months of warning time when it comes to possible enemy attacks.

The second discovery was massive heat radiators on the colony. Due to it's advanced but different design, this colony vented excess heat through large exposed radiators. They gave off so much heat that it made heat detection worthless and they were so close to the colony that radar wouldn't register them.

"This is the perfect hiding spot if we have to shut off the IUS" Desil informs you.

"And to top it all off, there is a maintenance hatch just a short walk from the ship. We can throw on the Genoaces anytime you want." Carlos grins at this good news, alleviating some of the stress of being discovered from everyone's minds,

Your ship is now in a safe place and the IUS should be able to run for another 26 hours before you have to let the reactors cool.

You have seven Prototype Genoriders, plus your personal one.

What do you wish to do now Jake?
>>
>>25721811
Let's do this thing. Drop in, set the data miner, and see if it can dig something up.
Let's go with Desil for this quick mission out - we could have a bro-to-bro talk, see how he's holding up.
>>
>>25721858
seconding.
>>
>>25722097
>>25721858
You decide to go out and set the Dataminer up outside and bring Desil along to help. You haven't had a good bro-to-bro talk in quite a while. After asking Desil to tag along the two of you throw on Genorider suits (I called them Genoaces before didn't I? Crap) and exit the Treasure Star. As the two of you carry the data miner through the blackness of space you begin to talk to Desil about how things are going and what he's feeling right now.

He explains that he's feeling a mix of anxiety and happiness. He's anxious to have returned to his homeland and isn't all that happy about being back, but the idea that he'll finally be able to save his parents and free his brothers and sisters from Ezelcan't clutches is an exciting and liberating one.

Desil goes into greater detail about how he feels as you pick a good spot for the Data miner and set it up. Once it's set up, Ma G runs some diagnostics.

"It has come to my attention that the Treasure Star's computer systems will only be able to hold a limited amount of information. Because of this you will need to optimize what the data miner will look for in regards to information. What do you wish for the data miner to search for, Military Data, Historical Data, Sensitive Personal or do you want it to search for any hidden data or networks? It will only be able to properly collect information on one of these areas so choose wisely"

Well Jake? What type of information do you want the Data miner to look for?
>>
>>25722483
(Oops, I meant Colony/Civilian Related Data, not Sensitive Personal)
>>
>>25722483
Focus on storing Military Data first. It's of utmost importance.
But first, use it to dig out where the Galettes are being held. That info doesn't need to be stored, we just need to have it dug up.

Also, Rena and Daiki are still near the AGE builder. See if they can make an additional data storage for that thing.
>>
>>25722483
Hidden networks probably won't be linked to a mainline data feed like this. At least, not if the Vagan IT structure is at all sensibly built. I say we go for Colony/Civilian. Let's look for any records on Desil's family that we can find. A wide enough search will tell us a lot even if the records have been erased along with their imprisonment, just from knowing where the gaps are. Especially if the Colony data has parts of the structure that there's suspiciously little information on.
>>
>>25722711
We should scan through the Civilian / Colony data for Desil's parents, but we don't need to store it, just analyze it. If we're storing something, it's military data.
If we can't make that additional data storage, could we at least link it to our suits? They have some memory available, and we could use that extra space.
>>
>>25722771
>>25722711
>>25722645
You can't make any more data storage sadly, unless you wanted to make a LOT of it and even then it would take quite a while to make. Your better off just sticking to the data storage capacity you have now.

You can have the Data Miner Search for data related to the Galette Family and then have it mine for Military data, however the search will data an unspecified amount of time probably anywhere from 2 to 6 hours.

While your waiting on the Data Miner to collect information regarding the Galette Family, what would you like to do now Jake?
>>
>>25723031
Have it search for the Galettes. In the meantime, let's get back to the ship and prepare for the inevitable shitstorm.
See if anybody has any ideas and suggestions, get to know the crew a bit better and so on. I guess we could mine this maintenance hatch so that if we do get caught, we blackmail them to either let us go, or the entire colony gets vented.
>>
>>25723031
We still have the self-destruct explosives, right? I don't want to risk the Vagans getting their hands on both an AGE Builder and a time machine. Let's check out the trigger mechanism we have for that so we can blow the ship quickly in case of Vagan intrusion. It's sub-optimal, but if we have to we should be prepared to go down with the ship to keep this out of their hands.
>>
>>25723181
That too, but that's the worst-case scenario. Hopefully it won't come to that.
I'm thinking on setting the TS with a self-destruct sequence, and planting bombs everywhere inside that maintenance hatch. At least we'll sabotage the bastards.
Find a proper place, add some bombs on it, and enjoy shutting down an entire section of the colony.
>>
While we're here, we need to expose Ezelcant's schemes to his people.
We can start a revolution.
>>
>>25723624
The problem is we don't have much direct evidence of his crimes that they haven't been conditioned to believe are justified. They know about the child soldiers, they know (at least to some degree) about the medical experimentation, and we don't have any knowledge yet of the details of the Eden Project. I suppose we could expose information related to Ezelcant's mind-crushing of his elite staff, but that's really it. The colony drop plan could work, but that's likely to just be seen as Zeheart being insane (which he is, so they'd be entirely right, even if Ezelcant has no problem with it). Maybe we'll uncover something, but for now we should stick to the objective.
>>
>>25723117
>>25723181
You go back to the ship with Desil and begin to plan for the possible future and the possible problems you might face.

The Treasure Star does still have explosives inside of it from when Daiki wanted to ensure it wouldn't be taken. A self-destruct sequence wouldn't be all that hard to set up. What's a good space fairing ship without a self-destruct device?

You have plenty of ammo, explosives, mines and weapons. You brought them along in case you had to fuel a rebellion. Mining the maintenance hatch hallway with identity sensitive proximity mines wouldn't be too hard, however Ma G informs you it wouldn't the best place in the world to threaten to damage Vagan. There are however more sensitive areas you could plant bombs on in case you want an insurance policy for late.

Talking over the crew, you ask if anyone has any experience with explosives or demolition and Zeal, the twitchy one of the Magnificent 7 raises his hands.

"You have training in demolitions?" You ask.

"Not really 'training' but as a kid I got a hold of a lot of explosives, so I proceeded to play around with them by leveling an abandon block on my colony over the course of a summer" Zeal explains in a rather nostalgic tone.

"And people were OK with this?"

"God no. Thankfully they never caught me and I don't think I killed anyone. The important thing is I learned a lot about demolition from the experience and tried a couple things later down the line. I think I'm your man if you want me to find a sensitive spot on the colony and set it up to deal some damage"

The smile Zeal has on his face makes you really hope Alfred knows Zeal rather well, because he looks a little too happy at the idea of blowing holes inside a colony.

If you send out Zeal to mine the hallway and plant bombs on a sensitive area of the colony there will be very little risk of an accident and he should be able to do it in an hour, hour and a half.

What do you wish to do?
>>
>>25723685
True, I suppose.
Though I guess he'll be perfectly willing to spill the beans himself in a boastful manner - you know, get him started on that "I started and manipulated all of this so I can have a master race! Of course I'm perfectly qualified to be the judge of that!" speech. This asshole doesn't deserve a peaceful death like the one he got in the series.

On a side note, why do I get this horrible feeling that, with all the rampant starvation on Vagan, they're not above recycling their own people...
>>
>>25723740
"Well, I can't say I was any better when I was a kid. And I did raise my own children to have a distressingly high familiarity with weaponry. Who am I judge someone's hobbies? Go do your thing, Zeal. Just make sure it's somewhere that would damage the entire colony, not just the residential areas. I want this to cripple them, not murder them."
>>
>>25723740
I'd rather not sent him out alone. Ask him if who's he most comfortable working with (I guess Alfred), and tell MaG to get us the most sensitive spots where we could plant bombs.
If needed be, we can move the ship around along those heat lines, so there's minimal chance of detection.

See if anybody has any other ideas. I guess a system that'd allow us to tap into their communications would be nice.
>>
>>25723766
All colonies would recycle their biomass, it's just not practical to do it otherwise unless the colony can afford to import volatiles from the chondritic asteroids. The real question is how many steps removed from the corpses the finished product is. Colonies like Zarth or Minsry probably do the whole "natural burial" thing where the corpse is interred in a biodegradable coffin so that it returns to the soil. But I can't imagine there's much soil in Second Moon. Health concerns alone would prevent straight-up cannibalism , but I wouldn't be surprised if they process their dead into fertilizers for use in the hydroponic farms. On the other hand, it would fit Ezelcant's crazy eugenics to directly process the dead into food. Prion diseases could be rationalized away as a symptom of the Mars Rays, and the strong literally eating the weak is pretty much the perfect manifestation of misguided Social Darwinism.
>>
>>25724046
That's what I was talking about. Going full Soylent Green on his own people, and blaming the side effects on the Mars Rays.
At the same time, he and his nobility enjoy proper food.
>>
>>25723870

Just make sure it's somewhere that would damage the entire colony, not just the residential areas. I want this to cripple them, not murder them. How about you take someone along to help out? The buddy system is important for space work."

Zeal seems to pause in thought for a little bit before shrugging. "I'll take Alfred along if you want me too."

"I'd rather you did, I don't want you floating off and dying in space because of a stupid accident"

Alfred and Zeal suit up and head out to work while you watch the data stream. Your finding some data, but the miner hasn't turned up anything substantial. You still have some time to wait.

Anything else you want to do Jake?
>>

Ezelcant would probably partake in the corpsemeat, too. Like I said, it would fit his ethics to consume the weak. And he's just the sort of douchebag to insist that he must 'face the same trials as his people' or some such drek. Maybe that's why he's so crazy. He's got advanced-stage Creutzfeldt-Jakod Disease with all the psychosis and obsessive-compulsive disorder that accompanies it. He's kept in cryostasis most of the time not because he's so old, but because his parasympathetic nervous system is so degraded that if he stays outside of stasis for longer than a week he'll inevitably develop a fatal case of pneumonia. But the seizures he's suffering are also stimulating his X-Region, and the attendant increase in his powers he takes as his proof that his philosophy is correct. That, and the brain damage.
>>
>>25724287
Can we somehow tap into their communications?
>>
>>25724346
That seems plausible. And it fits the insane bastard. I mean, he's perfectly willing to fuck his people over for some insane philosophy he developed due to brain damage. He's willing to send kids to fight for him, possibly after turning them into artificial X-Rounders. Who knows what else he does.

As for the X-Rounders, we know he hates them, even though he himself is a part of them. He probably takes the poorest souls on the streets and turns them into artificial X-Rounders, which he then throws at the enemy. And considering how much he hates them, it would explain the self-destruct in their suits - their mission is to die, so that people like them don't disturb his peaceful Eden. Why send Desil as a commander? So he can die. The 8 getting unpunished for insubordination? So they die on the front lines. He makes artificial X-Rounders as population control.
>>
>>25724349
Local Communications seems do able. Desil says they don't really have any hard line phones, mostly radios and military communication equipment. If you want to hear comm chatter between defense forces in and outside of the colony you could mess around with your own comm equipment to intercept enemy frequencies. If you really wanted clearer coverage you could set up some kind of node network or hack into their comm systems to give you a direct feed, but intercepting the frequencies is a lot safer and easier to handle.
>>
>>25724680
Let's get working on intercepting those transmissions, then.
Making a node network would be nice, but the only way I can think of that working is us making a small machine, attaching it to one of their dishes / radio towers and basically having them do it for us. It'd both pick up local communications and their frequencies, and it'd be masked because it's their dish, emitting signals everywhere.
>>
>>25724460
That's a pretty interesting idea: How many of his X-Rounders are naturally occuring? It's strange that they have so many with such a relatively small population. We know Vagan tech can artificially induce the abilities. And their military are oddly eager to kidnap or subvert any Federation X-Rounders. Maybe X-Rounder abilities are much less common in the Mars Sphere than it appears, and he's just found some means to induce them that's less life-threatening than the Psychomet(which, I will note, never showed any side effects in the Vagan pilots who used it, indicating they must have some way to compensate for the damage). Probably Vagan X-Rounders are at least enhanced past what they can naturally do.

That could explain why he showed so much interest in Zeheart from such a young age. Here's an X-Rounder who's naturally displaying abilities as strong as the post-enhancement soldiers he deploys. How fascinating! Likewise Kio, who is not only tremendously powerful but also looks just like his dead son. These must be clear signs that there's some divine providence endorsing his actions. He's been blessed with these incredible powers, and the only ones to come anywhere near his level are his trusted lieutenant and his dead son returned to him. His actions must be truly righteous to have been rewarded like this.
>>
>>25724680
Yeah, let's listen in. Odd that they don't have any direct links, but Vagan tends to do a lot of things weird. I guess they figure there's no need to mess with the wiring when there's no one close enough to listen in on them anyway. And it's not like easy communications among a populace are good for maintaining a military state.

Vagan probably has an AMAZING long-distance comm system, though, given how they can communicate with their distant ships. I'll just ignore the issue of light-speed delay (those conversations should not be happening as fast as they do). Given that they're doing high quality video communication with distant ships, that has to be a pretty strong signal to get that bandwidth. Can we listen in on those transmissions, too, or are they relayed to some off-site broadcaster for amplification?
>>
>>25724794
Forgot to mention that the downside is that we need to attach it to one of their network nodes so it can hack into it, which means we'd possibly get spotted, unless we move the ship nearby. But that'd probably end up with the signal being bounced off of us and us getting immediately noticed because of the delay in transmissions. Possible, but very risky. Needs an expert in stealth to do it.

>>25724797
Well, I guess the Psychomet helmet causes brain damage after prolonged use - the only problem being that most of its users die fast, so it doesn't get to the point of causing brain damage. Or the helmet just damages the parts of the brain responsible for self-control, leaving behind experienced, but insane pilots. The Galettes are probably a family of natural X-Rounders, which would explain why he's so friendly and forgiving with them - they get the fancy powers while retaining their sanity.
>>
>>25724949
I'm figuring that they use a quantum system for instant long range communications. That shit would allow them FTL chatting in real time, but the only problem is that it's a bitch that requires a lot of energy, and you probably can only talk with one person per system. That's why we see it on their major bases, and not on their ships.
>>
>>25724874
You should be able to pick up the long distance communications, unless their in some odd format considering the rumors of their almost impossible quality and speed.

(Roll 1d100 vs Computer Skill. 89 or lower will succeed. 1 is a critical success and 100 is a critical failure. Only the first six rolls will be counted)
>>
>>25724949
Yeah, it nearly killed Asemu after one use, but he was only using the stimulator helmet. There are probably components in the cockpit itself that moderate the effects. Though I like your idea that it doesn't kill the pilots, just leave them with impulse control issues. That explains a lot about the Gen 3 named Vagan characters. Thinking about it, I'm pretty sure the only ones who weren't in some way crazy were the X-Rounders. Kind of suspicious, that. Hell, a predominantly insane military explains a lot about Gen 3.

Let's see if we can pick up any traffic with the Downes. Not that we know its name, but we have to know there's some sort of major base in the Earth Sphere. Maybe we'll be able to pick up discussion about the Gyges Shield being installed, and be able to warn Flit that the Photon Ring might not be the board-clearer that we think it is.

Probably Arabel Zoi or his dad.

Medal Zant and his amazing hat should still be there as the second in command. Congratulations, you just got a promotion.

On a related note, what's with the hats Vagan commanders wear? They're so huge and ostentatious. Is that one of the privileges of rank in the Vagan military?

After making some modifications to the Treasure Star's communication hardware and software you are finally able to pick up the Vagan's communications. Most of it is pretty boring, standard stuff. Status updates, troop movement orders and the like. Very useful but nothing really stands out, until you hear a message directed towards a ship called the "Downs" or is it "Downes"?

Ether way here's what you hear.

"...the modifications to Downes are complete. We're running some tests now, but everything appears to be running up to specs. This new defensive system will prove useful"

"Excellent. The attack will be commencing in a week, so make sure everything is prepared by then."

"Yes sir."

"However I have some unfortunate news. Our supporter has informed us that a new faction has arisen within the Earth Federation Military. One that does not follow his commands and does not have any agents of his inside of it. They are not only an unpredictable piece in the game but they also seek to purge our influence."

"Yes, the Magicians have told me that a powerful ship destroyed the Downes I lent them to assist in breaking out Zeheart..."

"Do no worry about Zeheart Medal. He is adaptable, I wouldn't be surprised if plans on working this to his advantage. I hope the ship delivered the 'package' like they were supposed too."

"I believe they have. Zeheart should have everything he needs to escape or do anything he plans. Are you sure we can trust him?"

"You dare question Lord Ezelcant's chosen agent?"

"His brother was a traitor."

"His brother did not have the same exposure to Ezelcant. Besides our Lord has always had a fondness for Zeheart. His natural X-Rounder abilities and his absolute loyalty are unquestionable. I can assure you"

"Yes Gerra. I understand. I will make sure everything is ready for the attack on Big Ring, my Magicians will be ready for Zeheart's plan."

"For Eden."

"For Eden"

The communication ends there leaving you ponder it's meaning. After a while Zeal and Alfred return, reporting the successful placement of the mines and the bombs.

The Dataminer is nearly finished collecting data on Galettes. What do you wish to do now Jake?

I guess it has to do with the military or something.
Evilcunt has that sword thing and a corkscrew hairdo, Zant has the awesome hat, the gorilla guy has a swan...

Or just to make them look more interesting. I dunno.
>>
>>25725637
Huh. I guess Gerra made it out of Ambat, after all. Anyway, let's review the data on the Galette clan. Anything useful?
>>
>>25725605
"Wow. This is bad. I hope Dirk's okay. Desil, you know any of these names?"
Then check out what we found out about the Galettes.
>>
>>25725684
Yep, apparently he did. I guess his son did as well, and he's going to be Scarlet's rival.
Dirk's rival is obviously going to be Zeheart.
>>
>>25725975
But who will be Asemu's rival? Will he have to split Zeheart with Dirk, or are we going to get a new character for him to deal with? Or the other way around, I suppose. All I know is that Asemu needs someone to dramatically duel against and declare he is the SUPAH PILOTO to.
>>
>>25726038
Well, let's see:
> Dirk's rival is Zeheart, and it ends in blood because of Yurika.
> Asemu's rival is Zeheart, Dirk gets a new one (I like the idea of Olfenoa's kid who gets in an arranged marriage with Rena).
> Asemu's rival is Akito, because of daddy Flit.

Most of the information isn’t immediately useful. The information you currently has:

-Their previous address, apparently the Vagans have weirder street names then they do regular names.

-Some rather detailed medical information on them, blood type, gene sequence, the works and beyond. There’s even some charts and stuff you don’t fully understand. It appears to be measuring how ‘strong’ they are in regards to the population as a whole. Apparently they’re pretty valuable gene wise, at least for now.

- The Galletes sentence and the‘legal proceedings’ in the loosest sense of the word regarding their imprisonment. They are labeled as ‘traitors by blood’ and sentenced to ‘a sleep that will last to the birth of Eden’. You also get some of the legal code and frankly it’s very brutal and ancient in how it’s carried out, only with modern touches. Thieves, murderers and criminals are used as test subjects or if they’re too noncompliant, they’re valuable organic components are removed and the rest is recycled for food and fertilizer.

There is some other crap, mentions of the Galletes, mostly as examples. However you do get a very sensitive bit of information regarding the ‘movement and security regarding the traitors by blood to Lord Ezelcant’s Castle’. Apparently all ‘traitors by blood’ are frozen and stored beneath the castle for some undisclosed reason.

“I’ve got good news and bad news Desil which do you want first?”

“Good news of course!”

“I found where your parents are being kept”

“YES! Now what’s the bad news?”

“Apparently Ezelcant has them stored in or below his castle, for all I know he’s been using your Mom and Dad as decorative coffee tables this whole time.”

“The Castle is going to be incredibly difficult to penetrate. We’re going to been a plan if we want to break inside. What do you want to do Jake? You’ve taken us this far. I’ll do anything you want me too”
>>
>>25726156
Okay, first of all. Clear the data storage (we found what was interesting to us) and set it to steal us all the military data.
Based on the Galette's personal files, see if we can make forgeries that'd allow us to move inside the colony as regular civilians.
Also, let's see if MaG can insert us into their databases - if we end up having to be identified, we'll be safe from detection that way.
Desil can be our guide once we get inside, but the problem is actually getting to the residential area.

You wipe all the data you collected and set the Data Miner to stealing as much military data as you can. Hopefully it doesn't get blown to pieces like the last one.

After looking over the Galettes files you realize it will be fairly easy to forge identities for everyone and move around inside the colony are regular civilians. It'd probably be best to use fake names just in case you've garnered a reputation.

Desil will probably be harder to slip in since he's still wanted as a traitor, but since they haven't seen him in 20 years or so it's easy to assume he won't immediately stand out.

Ma G should be able to slip you all into the database with some help from you.

What do you want your 'fake' name to be?
