Don't know what Valkyria Chronicles is? Check it out here! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valkyria_Chronicles or http://valkyria.wikia.com/wiki/Valkyria_Wiki

You are JAGER STURMFUHRER, leader of the fledgling mercenary company DEMONS OF RANDGRIZ. In addition to fighting Imps for money and vengeance, you have your own private mission to hunt down Karla, your former fiance who sided with the Imperials and destroyed your home.

You first arrived in the Federation nation of Albion to help defend it against a possible amphibious attack. However, your boots barely hit the deck before you were assigned a mission to break up a spy ring. However, through a chain of extraordinary events, you not only smashed the spy ring apart, but also managed to capture an Imperial u-boat (mostly) intact, and figh off an Imperial amphibious invasion by defeating their leader, Belkan Knight Sir Fleisher.

You then moved on to Ustio, where you helped the beleaguered defenders fend off an Imperial offensive and stage a counterattack. While there, you also took care of a personal mission for Qyburn, got a new weapon called the Buzzbomb, recruited some new squad members, and helped Isolde regain her honor by defeating the Knight leading the Imperial forces in the area, breaking the back of the Imperial offensive.

You then returned to Gallia to help the Loyalists fight the GRA and rescue Archduchess Cordelia. You also finally decided to move on from your past and start a relationship with your longtime friend and XO, Sam. Now, you've been recruited by Lynch to destroy two Valkrur superweapons. You already managed to destroy Stonehenge, and all that is left is Excalibur.

No sooner have you returned from helping Julia find one her childhood heroes when Sam arrives to let you know that it's time to go after Exaclibur.

According to the (admittedly sparse) information Lynch was able to provide, Excalibur was located in the remote northern mountains of Belka, situated inside a massive underground bunker protected by both the Belkan and Imperial elite. Unfortunately, there was no effective way to infiltrate a team into Belka at this time, so you would have to get in the old fashioned way, through the front door.

Fortunately, thanks to your exploits in Albion and Ustio, Federation forces have been freed up to expand the main front. While the bulk of Federation forces were still focused at the Round Table, a second offensive force would press the Imperial's northern flank, which would lead right into Belka's doorstep. The prevailing theory was that putting pressure on Belka itself would cause the Belkans to pull back their forces from the Round Table. Either way, this new offensive would factor into your plans perfectly.

However, the one thing that was against you was the clock. Lynch estimated that Exaclibur would be operational within one or two months, which mean you'd have to push like tomorrow.

Already, the Demons are making preparations to move out. You've got about a day to prepare before you have to leave to rendezvous with the Federation forces.

>Pushing into Belka

Well fuck. This is NOT going to be easy. Not in the slightest. Big showdown with Karla inbound; I think we want to get those old dueling sabers out. Challenge every knight on the way to Excalibur, if intel reports have been accurate then we should be facing mostly Knights rather than Imperial Commanders.
If not then we need to thrust into enemy territory with all speed concentrating everything we have onto as narrow a front as possible.
>>
>>26160405
I agree. Beach party!

>>26160395
I second this. We need a general map of the fronts, so we know how much distance we have to cover. Like for example is it possible to attempt an amphibious night raid?

Since people have been asking, here's the rough approximation. The Round Table is pretty much smack dab in the middle of the border between the Empire and Federation. Belka is landlocked and is just east of Gallia. In terms of geography it's literally a stone's throw away.

>>
Guys, maybe we should start thinking creatively, like is it possible to to breach the border without being detected?
>>
>>26161024
In the middle of a warzone? Yes, but it would be difficult. Our best hope is to puncture a hole, which is then exploited the hell out of. Using the resulting confusion, we could then start using stealth and move quickly towards the objective.

Additionally, we might even be able to achieve victory without destroying Excalibur. We just need to get it out of the hands of the Empire.
>>
>>26161106
Not arguing, but I really want a theory on how the hell you get an underground complex in the middle of the Empire out of Empire hands.

Belka becoming neutral is off the table at the moment because that's meta.
>>
>>26161106
Getting it out of Empire hands and into Feddie hands wouldn't accomplish anything though
>>
>>26161106
We need to destroy Excalibur so NOBODY can get it.

That's why we took down Stonehenge.
>>
Actually, the biggest issue at hand is that we know next to nothing about Excalibur or the bunker protecting it. Is it possible to perform an infiltration mission on their HQ to gather more intel, or do we just don't have the time?
>>
>>26161106
The whole point of the mission is to destroy it. Both sides think their superweapon is their ace-in-the-hole to win this war and they won't sit down to talk peace as long as anyone has one. The thing needs to be gone completely; not in anyone else's hands.
>>
So any guesses to what the hell Excalibur even is?
>>
>>26161192
Not as meta as you might think. I'd imagine Jaeger would be aware of Karla's dislike of the Empire. Also, not advocating it right now, just pointing out the possibility.
>>26161197
But it wouldn't go to Feddie hands. It could instead go to a neutral 3rd party. Whether that be Gallia, Belka, The Demons
>>26161207
No, we destroyed it so they couldn't use it as an excuse to continue the war, holding out for the superweapons.

>>
>>26161293
I'm guessing cruise missiles.
>>
>>26161341
I like my idea better.
>>
>>26161307
How is Gallia (the only ostensibly "neutral" party there) going to hold a superweapon in Balkan territory without getting involved in the war? The demons are waaaay too few, Belka's not really neutral (yet) and we obviously can't give it to the federation
>>
>>26161307
I don't think that'd be much better as she'd be inclined to use it against the empire if not in its service.
>>
>>26161307
We have to destroy the superweapon so nobody can use it to make the war even more destructive.
>>
>>26161341
>>26161345
I have a feeling Karla's plotting and scheming was entirely to get Belka entrusted with this thing. She's probably going to rig it into some crazy border defense system to basically force the Empire to give her sovereignty since they'd have no hope of invading and retaking.
>>
>>26161476
and perhaps end up a threat to everything else: such superweapons are terrible things.
>>
>>26161500
Oh, no doubt. I mean, it's not like a super defense alone will get the Empire to agree, they'll need to be threatened with a blast or two for that. I'd just thought I'd point out that it's going to be very unlikely to get Karla's cooperation on this considering she was willing to throw away her relationship with Jager and kill his parents to get a hold of this thing.
>>
I'm trying to think here. The defense of the Belkan superweapon is perfect. But as usual, the weakness is human. And we have exactly one person to exploit, Karla.

So it's simple. Challenge Karla to a duel to end this. This our ticket into the country. The rest we have to improvise through out the way.
>>
>>26161560
I think that this time dueling wont work. Karla's put everything she has into getting the weapon for her country.

I think that she'd say, No, fuck you and throw away even her honor for her country at this point.
>>
>>26161560
Belkans are honorable not stupid.

They don't accept duels unless there was a large chance that they would lose, which is what happened with Fleisher and Detlef.
>>
>>26161620
No, the point of the duel is misdirection. We're not going to duel about the weapon, we're not going to even mention it. The challenge is just to simply get us an our men into the country. If some infiltrators happen to sneak in with us, we'll it's not our problem.
>>
You guys are really making a LOT of assumptions.

Well, considering this was going to be the last day before going off on a major offensive, coupled with the fact that you would be pushing into the enemy's home turf, you feel that any opportunities for time off after this would be short and not all that enjoyable. Because of this, you sent out a standing order that every Demon would have to report to the beach and HAVE FUN. Those who weren't having FUN would be punished with MORE FUN.

Other than that, you really had nothing particularly specific you wanted them to do. However, you'd have to double time it to the beach as well if you didn't want to disobey your own order.

Making your way to the beach, you're surprised to see a LOT more people than you imagined partying and reveling. You think that the entire damn castle staff were down there, in addition to Davos' crew. Thinking back, your standing order was probably a bit more vague than you intended. Well, that was no problem.

Looking around, you catch sight of what the other Demons are doing.

Isolde appears to be acting as a lifeguard, keeping a close eye on the swimmers, especially those out farther from shore.

Headcase, and the Stig seem to be tearing up sand like tomorrow, no doubt testing out their recently overhauled engines. Julia, meanwhile, is testing her new 122mm cannon by firing shells at target bouys out in the open water.

Ramirez, Brillant, Tarin, and Elizabeth are with a bunch of others at the top of the lighthouse, which has been temporarily converted into a large diving platform. Well, no guess as to what they're up to.

Heloise seems to have set up some barbeque equipment. You can actually smell what she's cooking from here...

>>
>>26161732
Well yeah, because we have shit to go on. We're trying to think outside of the box to come up with better solutions than the two:
1. Attack before the main Federation attack to gain the element of surprise and destroy the super weapon before we die or get cut off.
2. Attack with the main Federation attack and die because we were at the vanguard, or be unable to penetrate Imperial defensive lines as they form.

So yeah, they both kinda suck which is why I'm trying to come up with other solutions.

"No, not just fun, FUN." You correct her. "And I doubt you're going to find much FUN holed up in your room all day."

"W-well." Sam starts sweating. "It's just that everybody's on the beach and they're all wearing swimsuits and..."

"Sam, what is this all about." You sigh, already guessing what she's going to say.

"I don't want people to see my swimsuit. It's embarrassing!" She cries.

"Sam, I am going to be perfectly blunt. I would give up my left eyeball in order to see you in your swimsuit because you're just that pretty." You say bluntly. You were totally telling the truth, too.

"You're just saying that!" Sam wails.

Well, you tried talking, but obviously the time for talk was over.

"Sam, can you please step back from the door?"

"Huh?"

"That's an order, Sam. Step back from the door."

The military girl inside her instinctively obeys your command and steps back, clearing herself from the door. You then raise your foot and kick the door in. Unfortunately, Sam probably foresaw something like this, as she's already wearing her shirt, covering up all the good bits.

"Nice try, Jager, but I thought you were going to do that." Sam says.

"Aw, come on, Sam, you're pretty enough to look good in anything! Guaranteed!" You give your sloppiest, most childish grin.

"Y-you really mean that?"

Jeez, since when did Sam become so self conscious? Then again, you doubt she's really had to wear anything close to revealing for years, so you guess you could give her the benefit of the doubt.

"Really. Come on, do you seriously believe I'm the type that would lie to you?"

"I guess not." Sam sighs. She unbuttons her shirt and slips it off.

Honestly, you don't know what the big deal was about. Her swimsuit didn't look and. Hell, you thought it looked AMAZING on her. Her two piece orange swimsuit matched very well with her golden blonde hair.

"Sam, I've just been on the beach, and I have to say, you would blow every other girl out of the water. Like, it wouldn't even be a competition, just a shooting gallery." You say with all the truth you can convey.

"Thanks, that means a lot." Sam finally smiles.

"On that note, we're going back to the beach like, RIGHT NOW, because you're not wasting another second cooped up in this dusty old castle!"

"It's not even that old-"

"Can't hear you, too busy trying to have FUN!"

You drag Sam back to the beach, where she immediately starts attracting stares and compliments from the people you pass. Sam is still in ultra shy mode, and tries to hide behind you like a scared puppy. Speaking of puppies, you've brought along Wojtek too, though he's hardly little by this point.

The big puppy manages to slip his leash and bounds off towards the water, scaring the living daylights out of anybody caught in his path. You're not that worried, though. Wojtek was pretty well trained and he wouldn't wander too far or attack anybody.

Everybody else is more or less doing the same thing they were when you last saw them.

You suddenly find yourself wandering towards where Heloise is, no doubt drawn by the smells of the food she's cooking on the jury rigged and makeshift grills and stoves she has set up. She's still busy with her work when you walk up.

"Hey! Heloise!" You call out, walking up with Sam in tow. "Whatcha cooking?"

"Well, just cooking up some ribs and a few other things, since we have a bunch of pigs and cows we found grazing out in the fields. Doubt anybody's really owned them for a while, so we kinda just helped ourselves." Heloise grins. "Won't be ready for another couple of hours, but I guarantee you they'll be so tender they'll fall right off the bone!"

Shit, you're already starting to get hungry.

"Heloise, I simply cannot wait to try those out." You say, trying not to drool. Already, you can smell the cooking meet through the cobbled together smokers behind her. "Anyways, I just wanted to see how you were doing. How's castle life for you? Lord knows, I know Sam here's been loving it."

"Ah well, it's not so bad. Lotta fellow Darcsens around to hang out with. I mean, it's nice to be able to stay somewhere where people don't give you funny looks all the time." Heloise shrugs. "Your grandma's pretty nice, too. She's been giving me uh.... relationship advice from time to time."

"Uh uh." You nod, You're not sure if Grandma teaching Heloise the fine arts of charming men was a good thing or not. "Anyways, Heloise, honest question."

You then step aside and push Sam forward so Heloise can get a good look at her.

"What do you think of Sam's swimsuit?"

"Gah!" Sam squeaks.

"Niiiiiiiice." Heloise nods. "Wish I had the figure to pull of something like that..."

Heloise touches her breast with both her hands to highlight the disparity in size between her and Sam. It's then that you notice Heloise's swimsuit, which is a simple yet effective black one piece.

"Well, yours isn't so bad either. It compliments our figure." You say. You see Heloise visibly turn pink. "Anyways, I'm curious. How did that night with that Belkan squire turn out?"

"Oh, Williams?" Heloise suddenly starts getting a rather dreamy look on your face, which activates warning bells in your head. You've seen this sort of thing before. "He's really nice, really smart, and knows how to handle himself in a fight. He's like... I dunno..."

"Well, good luck with that, Heloise." You say. From what you could tell, Williams was a pretty nice guy. Just had the bad luck of being on the wrong side of the war. You just hope their situation doesn't end up like what happened between you and Karla. Oh boy, would that be nasty. "I mean, long distance relationships are already tough, but when you're on opposing sides of a war..."

"Yeah, I know the risks." Heloise nods. "But, I mean, if the chance is there, how can I not take it?"

Leaving Heloise to finish up the rest of her cooking, you and Sam head off for nowhere in particular.

"You really think it's going to work out between them?" Sam asks.

"I honestly have no idea." You shake your head.

"Well, I think it was nice that you didn't shoot down the possibility right away." Sam smiles. "I sort of thought you were going to do that because of... well..."

"You don't have to dance around the issue. It happened, well all know that." You sigh. "But come one, this is time for FUN, not bad memories."

"You keep saying that word..."

It takes quite a bit of time to climb the spiraling stairs up to the top of the tower, but you finally reach the top. Up there, you see Ramirez, Brillant, Tarin, and Elizabeth hanging out up there. Ramirez and Brillant are of course wearing swimming trunks. Tarin has a black two piece swimsuit and a thigh holster for one of her knives. Elizabeth is wearing a white two piece. You wryly notice Ramirez and Brillant's gazes continually flicking their way over in their direction. Elizabeth seems to be subtly aware of it, but doesn't do anything about it. Tarin, funnily enough, seems entirely oblivious to this fact.

Apparently, the Old People Club lounging about on the Vergeltung below seem to have become some the unofficial judges for the divers. Well, you guess it could work, considering there really wasn't anybody else around willing to judge.

First up is Sam, and she doesn't really dive so much as is collectively pushed off by the five of you. Like hell you were going to let her get back down using the stairs. She lands in the water rather awkwardly, sending water flying everywhere and causing the judges to cringe. Well, at least she seems okay, judging from how you can almost hear her yelling at you from the bottom of the tower.

The rest of the squad goes off as well. Ramirez, Tarin, and Elizabeth do rather decent dives. Brillant stumbles a bit and messes up his entry into the water, but is otherwise fine.

And then it's your turn, and school all of them by pulling off an absolutely perfect swan dive that would make the gods cry. You make such little splash that the judges at first don't realize you've even hit the water at all. There's applause all around as you surface, though you see Ramirez looking glum at having been beaten.

"Ramirez, your mistake was that you challenged me to something I did all the time when I was a kid, on my home turf, too." You say to him.

"Noted, sir."

You then see Sam wading up to you. You honestly are afraid she's going to sock you for pushing her off the tower, but instead she grabs your shoulders, pulls you head down, and kisses you.

"I thought you were going to kick my ass." You say, finally breaking away from the kiss.

"Well, I kinda was, but how could I after seeing that dive?" Sam smiles. "You looked... .heh... really amazing!"

"Yeah... well..." You laugh a bit, and you feel your face getting a lot warmer. "Come on, let's see what else is on the beach!"

Fortunately for you, everything here is just as how you remembered it, such as that little passage hidden in the rocks on the far side of the beach, that led to a secluded little cove that had one of the best views of the sunset.

"One of the family secrets." You say as you sit down on a little sandbar. "And, well, it seemed right letting you in on this one."

"The view's amazing, too." Sam nods.

"Heh, which one?"

"Both!" She gets a devilish grin. With nobody else around, it seems she gotten a lot of her self confidence back.

And so the both of you sit there, watching the sun set behind the horizon. All the while, Sam rests her head against your shoulder, and you both keep your hands tightly clutching each other. At the same time, a nice cool breeze blows through the cove, sending chills down your spine.

And the thought hits you. This might be your last chance, or the perfect chance, depending on one's point of view, to do it.

>Pop the question. You know the one.
>Nah, it can wait.

I don't know what the question is but lets ask it anyway. I need to watch more chick flicks...

DEATH FLAGS DO NOTHING FOR THE JAGER!

Of course, we're plenty screwed if the dice gods deem this a challenge.

And I just had the semi-disturbing mental image of Jaeger being forced into a maid outfit.
>Nah, it can wait.
We'll propose with STYLE. In the middle of a gunfight. Worked for Johnny.

Dude, we need more DEATH FLAGS. This is a perfect one!

GIVE HER THE DICK

inb4 Jager call out Karla on nat 1 roll

Jager would immediately feel horrible and hate himself, and it would be up to Sam to be understanding and make him feel better, with a little help from Huey.

"Sam." You say, taking both her hands. It's really funny. You've face down countless enemies, impossible odds, and almost certain death, but now you feel the most terrified in your life. You honestly don't know what's going to happen after you commit to this, but you feel you can't put it off any longer.

"Sam, will you marry me?"

And everything goes deathly silent for what seems like an eternity. You almost wish to you had a camera, just to record the number of expressions Sam's face goes through as she tries to comprehend what you just said to her. However, she finally regains enough of her sense to answer.

"Yes! Yes!" She says, crying and laughing at the same time before kissing you again.

Unfortunately, by the time you return to the beach it's already well past dark and everybody's returned to the castle, leaving behind an empty beach. However, just for tonight, you and Sam wouldn't have it any other way.

>WELP. We are absolutely and totally committed now. Next thread we start the final offensive, so hold on to your asses! Next thread will be Monday 6-7pm PST!

Just then, Karla appears with the childhood saber and stabs Sam in the kidney.

lol, jk

Karla already told Sam not to hurt Jager. It seems like she's conceded defeat in the war for Jager's heart.
>>
>>26168518
Not like she got a fair shot.

So now if Sam is hit we go into super rage mode

Or our feeble mortal mind snaps like a Slim Jim in the hands of Macho Man Randy Savage.
