You are Oberst Hans Landa, leader of the German expeditionary unit that has been dispatched, via a magical gateway, to an unknown realm. Supplied with large numbers of troops and materiel via a recent ritual of the blackest magic, you are now left with an abrupt explosion of tensions between your own forces, not to mention the likely mustering forces of the natives.

Redding, the only Imperial city you have captured (thus far), is currently cut off from radio contact due to a recent assassination attempt on your life while you were commanding from there, damaging the radio tower set up in Redding's central keep. Doyle, your loyal Gestapo liaison, has taken central command of functions there, as well as the garrison present. You can only hope that he has encountered no further difficulties.

For now, you are faced by Gallagher, the leader of the expanded contingent of Thule Society members sent to assist you. It seems that the Thule Society's interest in the arcane has helped them yield powerful spellcasters, at least in the case of Siegfried, your former agent (whose current locale is unknown, but presumed to be back on Earth.)

Gallagher smiles at you, "Now then, Oberst! What may I do to help you along?" He asks, seemingly unknowing-- or indifferent-- to the vast array of things on your mind.

Tear Siegfried's labs apart, find out exactly what he did.

Then, see what healing magic you can learn to support our medical staff, they are currently critically short staffed. I expect an initial written report on the former within 24 hours.

After that, dismiss him and begin getting a detailed breakdown of our newly arrived forces, we need to find all the logistics troops, maintainers, and CSS that were sent through, and if they weren't, we need to let command know just how badly they fucked up.

>Shall do! I plan on incorporating that into my next post. Just wanted to leave it open for players to give final input in the new thread.

>>26415868
"I want you to tear apart Siegfried's laboratory." You tell the man, "Your men will be working out of there. I want you to also see what healing magic you can learn to support our medical staff-- from what I can tell, we're low on staff. I expect an initial report in no less than 24 hours." You tell him.

He nods, smiling. "A deadline. I work very well with deadlines." He remarks cheerily. You simply nod, preparing to dismiss him, before shuffling over some other papers. Papers regarding some plans you scrawled out while on your way here.

"Once your men are familiarized with the basis of Siegfried's research," You remark, "I want you to work on scouting out talent amongst the ranks. The Wehrmacht soldiers in particular-- any who might have inclinations towards magic. Once we reestablish contact with Redding, I want you to get in touch with the mages that have sworn themselves to our cause there." You tell him.
>>
>>26416669
You go over the list. "Learn as much as you can from them. Have the science teams cooperate with you on this. I want you to get to the heart of magic-- not just the superstition, but what's actually needed for us to operate." You look at him keenly, "The Reich cannot afford superstition, especially pagan superstition such as what this lot practices."

Gallagher nods, "Entirely understandable, sir." He tells you, smiling all the while. "This may put my men somewhat at--"

"Further," You interrupt, "I want you to put some energy towards research, once you're done with these basics."

Gallagher's expression cracks. "S-sir?" He stammers for a second, "I don't have nearly the manpower to do all that, we'll need to sleep /sometime/ after a--"

You interrupt again, staring at him levelly. For all that Siegfried may have been a secretive, self-interested son of a bitch, at least that man was able to get you results. Even if they had unintended consequences.
>>
>>26416679
"This is not a university, Gallagher." You remind him, "This is another world. A foreign world. A world where we have limited assets and, furthermore, limited resources. We have bought ourselves as much of those two as we could with this ritual, but if there is one thing we cannot purchase it is /time/." You emphasize, "There is an Empire here, a hostile Empire, with more magic in one hair follicle than we have in our entire combined military. We cannot afford the time needed to catch up with them at their own pace and at their own game."

He pauses, "Yes, sir." He eventually manages, nodding. You smile more gently.

"Plus, with the talent you recruit from the infantry, you ought to have more than enough manpower to at least afford a few hours of sleep here and there." You mention, "Feel free to double your coffee rations. That's what I've done, at least." You say, semi-jokingly.

You scribble figures on your paper. You've kept mental track of your magical assets, and already have some numbers to assign out. "I've taken the liberty of prioritizing research goals and numbers. Take these as a guideline." You tell Gallagher, passing the sheet of paper to him.

"Enchantment?" He asks.
"Yes. I was told there was some sort of fuel conservation spell used by Siegfried. Something that reduced the intake of the new weapon we've finished constructing-- if we can distribute that back to Berlin, we may yet be able to address any impending fuel shortages this war may cause. A critical achievement. I can only imagine what else we might achieve." You remark, smiling.

Gallagher looks over the others, nodding. "Understood, sir." He tells you eventually.
>>
>>26416689
That being done, you contemplate the mithril issue, finally waving Gallagher off for the moment. Also, supplies. You have a number of things you could address, but you need to choose what.

Are these full historical squads or what? Whats their loadout?

What can our midpower mages do? Does that include the ones from the Thule Society? Are we misisng any forces?

Lets check to make sure we have a medical/logistics unit, since both of those are sorely needed. And inquire Speer on whats in the trailer.

>>26417072

>No Jimmies
>No new pioneers
>No mech inf
>Only 1 battalion of infantry

Yeah, we can't take the Fort, we don't have the AFVs to assault through fire to the objective, and we don't have the engineers to breach obstacles fast enough to maintain violence of action.

Without finding a way around that, we won't be able to assault the fort until the next gate opening.
>>
>>26417271
We have the giant-ass robot. I say we give it a go at soaking up fire/breaching defenses

>Storming a superior enemy force

Actually.

>6 Sd.Kfz 251/1
60 capacity total
>4 Sd.Kfz. 251 with machine guns, towing a pair of FlaK 38.
40 capacity total

Grand Total: 100 infantrymen

Unless mech infantry require special training, we can organize a company of mechanized infantry.
>>
>>26417423
What fortifications could they have that we can't breach? Wooden walls? Stone walls? Neither cant stand up to our tanks, and an assault with the Jaeger (or whatever you wanna call the robot) attacking another point in their defenses, all supported by our mages will surely work. That shouldn't be too hard should it?
>>
>>26417493
>>26417428

That's a single company of infantry not trained in mechanised operations against a multi-thousand force. You also need to think about fatigue, resupply, and combat endurance.

With only a single company forcing a breach, how long do you think they can continue the advance before they get bogged down, cut off, or simply run out of ammunition?

>>26417493

Breach properly so that infantry and vehicles can cross? That's precision work. Can't have anyone throwing a track in combat, can we?
>>
>>26417551
Well, you do have a point. Maybe the tanks and Jaeger could just be a distraction while the engineers do real work?
>>
>>26417604
We don't even know how effective our Jaeger Pentecost/Tyr Riese is. I know it has some machine guns at least
>>
>>26417672
All right, all right. You've made your point. Still, can't we at least harass the fort? Cut off their supplies and put on a proper siege like its the middle ages? I think we can do that at least, until reinforcements arrive for either them or us
>>
>>26417698

Yes, but our biggest way to go about that is artillery, but due to Speer's suggested course, that's out.

We'd need to meet with him and senior command staff to begin planning our next move, we can't simply stay put for the time until the next gate opening.
>>
>>26417741
I didn't mean that kind of siege. I meant the "sit tight and starve them out" kind of siege. At least that way when we assault the fort they will be tired and hungry, so we'll have an easier time of it. Of course, raiding their supply lines might be easier than camping outside of their fort, and less dangerous if reinforcements for the fort arrive, but that also might be less effective in keeping the fort completely contained
>>
>[ ] Investigate the status of the materials you shipped back through the Gate, including Siegfried.

This is and always has been, critically important t how we conduct our operations here. What is actually working back home, and where the hell is Siegfried!

Each squad is equipped with a higher-than-average number of SMGs, particularly, MP38s. Instead of one per squad, each squad has three; sleek, top-of-the-line weapons, though only a single MG34 per squad.

The capabilities of the "midpower mages" is not entirely understood, but you have seen similar spellcasters wield lightning bolts and fireballs to great effect. A cabal of them were even able to suspend the shells of an artillery strike midair.

You rub at your face. Though you requested the mechanized infantry, amongst other things, they all seem to have not been delivered. You mull over your options, considering just what might have caused them to appear. You're sure there's a reasoning, but it seems at the edge of your peripherals...

>Engineering intelligence perk applied

The Gate. It occurs to you that with every opening, there's been casualties. Increasing numbers of casualties, in fact. It seems that with this ritual, you had thought the loss of manpower might be averted, but had the sacrifice of the prisoners-- instead of randomly selecting those lost-- instead resulted in the calculated selection of those taken by the Gate?

... Had Siegfried actively chosen which people would be lost in transit?

The thought shakes you on several levels, reminding you all the more of your ignorance of magic in general.

You could make an improvised mechanized infantry brigade using your supply vehicles, as well as the additional vehicles slipped through the gate itself. The lack of engineers would be problematic, however. Perhaps you could use your pet construct-- whose name is still undecided-- as a siegebreaker? However, that would still require you to understand its full abilities. Something that's yet to be tested out.

A 'bit' crazy?

We ordered him to conduct a night-time raid on those noble families. Quick - quiet and with plenty of prisoners.

What he actually does is drive a truck down there and conduct a full urban assault of their dam estate. Worst commando ever.

He's being re-assigned to a vanguard unit and another of the new Commando's is being promoted.
>>
>>26417789

We probably shouldn't siege them outright, that could probably cost us a lot of men.

Instead, I propose we fuck up their supply caravans without actually investing the fortifications at Starbane. We could deprive them of serious materiel and food while adding it to our own stocks, and we could draw out some or most of their garrison into an ambush or a pitched battle, either of which we could easily win.
>>
>>26417893
>... Had Siegfried actively chosen which people would be lost in transit?
So we've been damming some of the Reich's soldiers to an eternity in...somewhere every time we open and Gate for reinforcements... my God.

Maybe its time for Landa to have a drink.
>>
>>26417899
Well, I'm sure we could harass them quite effectively. Besides, it's not like they have magic users out the wazoo to counter our massive ranged advantage with our guns

>>26417943
This is what I'm talking about. If they don't leave the fort, they starve and get weary. If they do leave, we can hit them hard and fast. Either helps us with taking Starbane in the long run
>>
>>26417980
MEIN GOTT. This gives me an idea! A cruel, capricious alternative to the Fuhrers Final Solution.

Gentleman, I know how we can reduce the casualties of reinforcements coming through the gate. All we need to do is sacrifice our humanity
>>
Don't we have a second in command? Who's our closest to that? We should get him to do the boring stuff that wont bring any interesting dialogue at least--like checking to see if we have that medical & logistics group. And if it"ll be uninteresting, have him check on the mithrils/siegfried.

I think we should check on Gunther, then do an officer meeting. Since our mech's performance will be a variable in our performance.

Wonder if it's possible to 'rescue' anyone we lost from the Gate ritual? Is that possible?

It seems to me that the gate's providing diminishing returns from our requisitions, eventually we'll probably have to forcibly integrate soldiers and magi we capture into the glorious Wehrmacht, and we will also probably have to conscript local citizenry at a later time in between battles.
>>
>>26418036

...Sure, go for it.

Not like it's out of character for a Nazi.
>>
>>26418044
You had Gunther, who kept things running rather smoothly, for all of his love of battle and killing.

Right now, though, you've got a bit of a black hole as to who to select as your second-in-command. Most of the officers you've interacted with have done a fine job in their roles, and all are really fitting for the promotion, even if temporary until Gunther dies (or returns).

>>26418145
>>26418036
>>26417980
You think about it.

You really shouldn't have thought about it. You fold your hands together, thinking of the alcohol that Gunther procured from the ruined manor up north.

Which causes you to think about Gunther, laying there, the meat of his body exposed to the world from Beregen's magical attack.

You're a good leader. You like to think of yourself as a good leader, but what will this land take from you?

More than it already has, you suspect.

>>26417943

It might be. You rub at your hands, trying not to think of being trapped in the absolute blackness that transit through the Gate showed you.

It just might be.
>>
>>26418214
We only need a few thousand soldiers and tanks to become unstoppable. With recruits from this world to replace casualties, millions of jews ought to be sufficient to get what we need through. Of course, we might need to keep them around. The Fuhrers Final Solution might just become a bit more long-term
>>
>>26418214
Is that the case? We could tally it from each Gate opening. Because it could be a case of proportionality.

Gate 1: How many requisitioned, how many lost.

etc.
>>
>>26418036
Well, we've been sacrificing 'innocent' people to some entity to open a crazy trans-dimensional Gate between worlds to bring in grizzled soldiers to help us conquer the people in this world...

So I'd say we've lost quite a bit of our humanity thus far, a little more can't hurt.

Alright, enough introspection, back to work.

Organise the infantry into a single battalion, have a single company stay at the base to assist the staff there, and have the rest begin prepping for a movement to Redding.

We'll get the Jager to being recces of the Mines, magic school, and fort when we get back, with a QRF forward deployed towards the mines and magic school group.

1 battery of LeFHs will hold at the fort, the mortars and other guns are going to redding.

Leave the FlaK guns at the fort as well.

The Panzers are coming with us.

>>
>>26418329
I think we should a) check on the stuff we've sen home / check on Gunther ; b) finish the star fort's foundations and c) regain contact with Redding before we move out and attack anyone.

I like the idea of getting the Jager's to recon the mines and fort though. We should give the company some of our mechanized units and have them go at it for the next four or so days.
>>
>>26418379

Recces are supposed to be small.

A single platoon at most moving to set up a recce base, then sending out squad level patrols to get intel.

And you'll note I said prep for road move, that means probably a day prepping for transit, and we aren't required to move with them.
>>
>>26418258
We should probably ask about 'reducing casualties' from the Gate ritual in our process of making it cleaner and more efficient. Rescuing too, maybe. Failing that, we can have a private conversation with Arthur, but not bring up the sacrifice thing.

I vote on checking on Gunther.

>>26418294
We did that once, which was completely out of character. Bringing Berg (probably by the same people who OK'd the ritual) was retarded, too.

I vote on appointing a 2nd in command from the Wehrmacht. Preferably one who isn't a recent arrival. Have him check on logistics/medical, while we check on Gunther.
>>
>>26418446
Our last small recon attempt got captured by the Empire, so we're not doing that again. Overwhelming force it is.

Prepping for the move sounds good.

As for a second in command, let promote Hans temporarily into the position. We like him and he's competent.
>>
>>26418547

A recce patrol that was moving along known roads, you mean?

And casualties can and should be expected.

We can't afford to spread ourselves thin simply gathering intelligence.
>>
>>26418565

We also can't afford to go out into the wider area with intelligence gathered from locals and passersby. We won't, however, spread ourselves thin if we just send out a few teams of 4-5 soldiers to investigate the nearby locales. However unfortunate it is, we will lose soldiers and it would be absolutely futile denying ourselves vital decision-making resources and field intelligence - thus costing us tens if not hundreds more soldiers.

tl;dr: if we don't gather intelligence now at the cost of a handful of soldiers, we risk getting absolutely fucked as we expand the Reich's control over the land.

I'm not sure about sending the Jaeger out by itself. Sure it can probably handle itself, but we don't even know how smart it is. The damn thing could get lost without a handler for all we know, or it might kill some innocent villagers. A truck or two with a squad of soldiers keeping the Jaeger on course might be a good idea
>>

I'm voting on using our vehicles (or spare radios) to re-establish contact with Redding. I don't want to have any surprises. Get our vehicles out in the road between Redding & base with escort. Spread them out to max radio range.

The furthest one can establish contact with Redding, periodically giving a signal everything is okay. Messages could be relayed through the network of radios.

You contemplate doing the math.

You also contemplate a drink.

You sigh, standing up from your desk, heading into the main command post. It's still a clusterfuck in there. Bodies everywhere, alive, but people swarming in every direction, salutes being snapped off to you as the new forces are organized.

You head right to the coffee brewing, pouring yourself a cup and not skimping on the sugar, which you imagine as liquor. Hard liquor. Speer looks over to you, seemingly in mid-conversation with Gallagher on some topic or another.

>>26418379
>>26418463
You elect to check on the materials you've sent home first, then on Gunther. The strategy meeting will be last, and along with it, hopefully an idea of the logistics situation.

You approach Gretta, who seems to be on a coffee break of her own.

"Evening." You greet her, to which she smiles.

"It's still only morning, Oberst, if you can believe it." She quips back, smiling at you.

"Be that as it may, we're going to have to radio home." You remark, rubbing at your chin. You need to shave, but things have been too maddening to get some proper rest and relaxation.

"Oh?"

"Yeah." You pause for a few moments, "I need to check and see what happened to everything we've sent back... I have no idea what the situation is going to be over there."

You drum your fingers, thinking. This check-in might take some time. Do you have any matters you wish to organize before you get in contact with command?

>Siegfried mini-quest will be initiated once contact with command is made.

>>26418329
>>26418360
You grab some paper, outlining your plans for HQ. The construct, the Jaeger/Tyr Riese, will be the heart of your recon operations, considering it's the only real air asset you have. You clench the fist with your control ring to emphasize the point.
>>
>>26419352
>>26419313
You could, if you wish, have your squads spread out a bit and either use some of the vehicle radios, or establish a series of radio outposts for the purpose of creating a redundant system. While you have a telephone landline to Redding, it has received no answer back. You suspect it was cut by the same attackers that sent the assassin.

You mentally go over your course of action at this point: Reorganize your forces into an infantry battalion, with a single company holding the base to assist the staff there. The rest advancing to Redding. From there, the Jager will move to scout the mithril mines, then the Southmarch Academy, and finally the fort. It will be accompanied by a quick-reaction force, the scope of which (unless you wish otherwise), likely being a few squads mounted in your half-tracks. A lone battery of LeFH 18s will hold at the fort, while the mortars and the rest of the guns go to Redding. The FlaK guns will stay at base camp as well-- but the Panzers will be diverted.

After this little meeting you, personally, will go check on Gunther's status, as well as work on establishing a radio relay back to Redding in the event of a transmission tower on either side being knocked out again.

I think, the way it works is that the Gate feeds off "magical energy".

Precious magic metals, electricity magic-casters using up their mana pool or whatever and direct soul sacrifices power the gate.

I don't think we can get our guys back (we'd need to check on Arthur or our mages to be sure), but we can theoretically get rid of the casualties once we figure out the magic energy input to gate being open output.
>>
>>26419267
Well that's certainly less morbid than "sacrefice the jews to send troops and equipment through" We'll need a tremendous amount of mages for a full invasion of this world though

Talk to Gallagher/Speer about our Gate worries, such as with reinforcements. Tell Gallagher about our theories concerning it. And that we need a solution. Nominating Doyle as temporary second-in-command.

Dat Gestapo commissar.
>>
Atm we don't have contact with him, so it's moot. I don't think Doyle is a good idea though, since he's best managing intelligence. He'd certainly be in command of Redding when we're on leave, though.

Someone who wouldn't have their concentration divided from managing something already would be best.
>>
>>26420483
I've nominated Hans a bit up in the thread.
>>
>>26420613
At the very least I'd make him the commander of our Panzers. Doyle can be promoted to acting mayor of Redding.
>>
>>26420879
He already is in command of the panzer's; he's the CO of the expeditions armoured units.
>>
>>26420581

Doyle is probably the best choice out of everyone else if/when Gunther recovers. He's CO of a Gestapo political detachment so I assume he has training/experience dealing with civil matters and administration of occupied lands, as well as suppressing dissent. Military wise, ideally our PC would handle that since our second-best infantry officer is barely hanging on by threads.

As for Hans, >>26420613

While he is a bro, I don't think he's right to command our entire regiment while we're away doing things like razing Swordhenge like Baghdad in 1258. He is after all, a tank commander.

All in all, we should probably vet our
notables before we make any sort of decision regarding a second-in-command. Doyle and Hans might, after all, not be up to the task at hand mentally or in terms of actual capability to govern & command the regiment in our stead.

You elect, first, to talk with Gallagher and Speer before getting in touch with command. You come up mid-conversation.

Gallagher: "Constructs? It'd require quite a bit of metal in order to produce an army of them, but--"
Speer: "Oh, you'd be surprised! With the proper excavation techniques, even some modified mining equipment, we ought to be able to produce quite a bit of the metal. Even diluted, the benefits ought to be superb. There's a few special projects that could find great use of this metal-- entirely new breeds of tank and aircraft..." He draws off as you approach.

"I have some concerns." You raise, looking between Gallagher and Speer. "Notably, I have reason to believe that the Gate itself is consuming men in addition to those we have sacrificed, as well as those we sacrificed."

You pause, Gallagher looking surprised, but Speer looks right back at you, and you notice something seeming to cross by his eyes and expression as he reacts.

"And you say this rate is increasing?" He asks you, looking particularly thoughtful. "That's very problematic indeed, Oberst, but how may I help with it?" He asks you. "I have heard of your plans for the bridge spanning the Gate, but, unfortunately, even I cannot devise one that will function with current manpower and raw materials available. Considering that the Gate is underground in Berlin, building one there will be equally problematic. If you could increase power generation, as we have been striving to do, you might have better results in reducing those casualties, but it would need to be done here, as the war effort has been putting our energy towards production of war supplies." He tells you candidly. "I have already begun designs of hydroelectric generator to utilize the power of the streams here to contribute to the Gate's powering sequence, but the benefit from that may be... negligible. It is extremely unfortunate that you have lost so many men." He says, a regretful note in his voice. "I am certain that their loss shall be greatly mourned, when Germany's victory is at hand."

Gallagher speaks up, "My own researchers are a tad... well-filled with your recent orders as well. I shall see what may be done to investigate the loss of life, however." He remarks, pausing.

"I see." You remark, Speer smiling faintly to you. "Well then-- I had thought it prudent to inform you, Herr Speer, for any future plans you may have in mind." You mention, nodding to Gallagher as well for his own contributions.

You have a brief, strong thought of smacking Speer. A thought that's coupled with the idea that you might just be a puppet getting pulled around on strings.

Then, just as you feel your right hand begin to clench, you nod. "Very well. I have a... friend to visit."

Gunther, for all his madness, may just be one of the few people you can rely on, for his insane bloodlust and violent tendencies. You suspect that, at the very least, he isn't the type to be aware of men being sacrificed like this. If Speer's expression even conveyed any knowledge of that, that is.

This whole expedition seems to have gotten much more muckier with the appearance of Speer and all these new men. You need to reforge them into a cohesive unit once more.

You look over to one of the new adjutants.

"Have the Hauptmanns get to work on directing logistics and medical. We need any new medical staff and equipment in the hospital. I'll be there shortly." You tell him, Gretta looking over to you as you take your coffee with you, grabbing a second cup as a thought occurs to you.

You make your way through camp, various soldiers saluting you on your way across. You simply nod, coffee in each hand, as you make your way into the hospital. Some additional medical staff are already pooling up, including a pair of ambulances parked out front, empty but for the orderlies unloading supplies.

This place looks like it's shaping up into a real home for you and the men. Granted, the mixed atmosphere is odd. The veterans seem to look at you with a mixture of vast respect and a bit of wariness, while the new soldiers are looking rather cheery, smiling proudly as they march about, looking over the small city you've constructed.

You step into the hospital, the clerk on-duty seeing you and pointing you down to the intensive care section, where doctors far outnumber visiting soldiers. You walk along, coffee in each hand, nobody bothering to stop you.
>>
>>26421903
When you arrive, you find the room-- thankfully-- rather empty. Just two bunks of over a dozen occupied, one man being a soldier that fell while helping put an addition onto the primary housing barracks, currently asleep.

Gunther is in the other bunk, the man very much holding onto life, even if it's only by a few strings. His torso is wrapped in gauze, his immense form actually requiring two bunks-- side by side-- with a third horizontal at his feet, just to accommodate his massive frame comfortably. A pair of men from his squad are sitting near him, as well as a few other veterans.

Gunther himself is currently smoking a cigar, albeit the clear restriction is meant for the critically injured, with a bottle in his left hand. His hospital gown barely touches his knees, a slightly distant look in his eyes, but you can tell he's holding onto life strongly.

The other men seem to notice your approach instantly, as if you just announced your arrival with a trumpet. To be expected from special forces, really.

I have a few ideas.

1. This one I told OP over IRC. He said clerks can do it. Have them figure out >>26419714 . Measure out what forces were requested, what didn't arrive. The order of arrivals (and missings) in the timeframe for each ritual to see if there's a pattern. For all we know it may be a matter of the slowest/last getting consumed. See if there's diminishing returns or an increasing consumption rate. Find out how much input precious magic metals, electricity and lives give. etc.

2. Next run, we requisition arms+ammo, another group of political officers (maybe some teachers too) and maybe more commandos/specops. We find the most loyal native able-bodied men among our domain.

Have them indoctrinated & taught German by the political officers. SS Commandos proceed to train them. This will give us more manpower, either as auxiliaries or garrison troops. We should keep our force predominantly German, but it means we can focus on getting more specialized troops in the future, since our numbers for grunts can be padded.

3. What do you guys think of integrating veterans with the newbies? Obviously the vets would get some promotion, with them being first in line amongst enlisted to be promoted. I don't think we should do this with our SS-trained wehrmacht commandos. How many, and how well trained are they any? Is that actually all of our original 40-100 soldiers, or a smaller number? How good are they compared to our fresh meat?

"Gunther, smoking in a hospital is a clear violation of regulations." You remark, greeting him with a smile. You look aside to one of the doctors patrolling the hall, winking to the commando when the doctor's back is turned.

"But you've earned it."

Gunther gives you a brief scowl, then a smirk, raising his cigar to you, puffing away at it as the other men relax somewhat.

"Heil, Oberst." The commando greets.

"Good to see you too." You greet him, the mile splaying across your lips as you check on him. "How are you holding up?"

"With thread and good liquor." He retorts, chuckling richly. "That raid went pretty well. Fighting that amped-up holy man? Not so much." He remarked, "Luckily, I picked up something nice from one of those nobles, because my boot knife sure wasn't going to cut it." Gunther remarks, chortling again, before abruptly coughing, and rather violently at that. He dabs at his mouth with the back of his hand before continuing.

"Anyhow, I ought to stay kicking around for a while longer. Doctors say it's chancy, but I'm made of tougher stuff than what chance will take me down with." He remarks, grinning at you.

You smile, nodding at that.

I got a design idea. Hybrid hydro-electric/magic generator/reactor. We got a fuel/magic powered thing on our construct. Our PC has an engineering background. Speer said a normal hydro-electric generator would give negligible power.

So what if we make some hydro-electric generator that also incorporated energy from magic metals? Enchant it for efficiency and we may have something really good.

We can tell Gallagher + Speer about it and have them work on it later. Not right *now*, but something to mull over at least.

You smile, making further small talk. "You're not the only one to fight recently. Had to deal with an assassination attempt-- the Empire sent..."

"Ah, yeah. That." Gunther's expression suddenly turns dark. "Those Empire folks picked the wrong man to do that to. I knew him." He remarks darkly, looking to you. Your expression of mild surprise causes him to frown even deeper.

"You haven't heard who the assassin was?" He asks.

You gently shake your head.

"Wilhelm." He answers quietly. "One of the captured men. They strung him up like some kind of marionette-- metal wires and everything going into his body and out of it. Overheard some of the doctors talking."

Doubtful, but that just likely meant one of his men was snooping and heard.

"They found his dog-tags still on him." Gunther goes on to tell you, "Seems these barbarians put plenty of their magic items in him, too. It's how he moved so fast. I got the details from some of the men that traveled with you on the way back." He adds.

"I see." You remark quietly. "Did you see anything, or did the nobles say anything, suspicious, with this in mind?"

He smiles, setting his liquor aside for the moment to reach underneath his bed, his long arm flexing as he retrieves a sheathed sword. The same sword you saw before. He grins at you.

"This." He remarks, "Some sort of fancy magical heirloom from the head nobleman's family. He tried to take me on with it. His swordsmanship isn't much good against a man who's stormed trenches with a bayonet 'tween his teeth, though." He tells you, laughing.

You simply smile as Gunther puts the sword down next to him. "Besides that? Not much worth talking about. Went screaming about how the Empire would sooner burn than see us win, all sorts of stuff like that."

Thing is, though.. we don't necessarily have to requisition for chemical weapons when we can just manufacture our own stockpiles on our side of the Gate. It would be wise though to discuss authorization to use chemical weapons as well as their manufacture with Speer before we do anything regarding chemical weapons, since he is the highest ranking Party officer on this side of the gate. He'd most likely be agreeable to its usage on the Fort, given that he wants it intact.

Also, given that the world we're in is pre-industrial, there'd be massive casualties on their side, provided their mages don't counteract the gas. it'd be a most fascinating experiment, in any case.

That's good. If we could get a simple printing press set up, leaflets filled with propaganda would be extremely helpful. We could easily fill the people of Redding with Aryan Pride, maybe even start the Hitler Youth up there.

Anyone have that chart of acceptable races in fantasyland?
>>
>>26432695
One step at a time anon. We still have to germanize these people before we can instil the pride of the fatherland into them.

As for the hitler youth, I'm still hoping Farnsworth will lead the way and be our test model.
>>
>>26432848
Ah yes. If he is indoctrinated, he could be the perfect starter the hitler youth, and eventually a puppet ruler
>>
Where does OP live? He has said "morning" several times, but he tends to come back in the evening in the US eastern coast at least.

>>26432695
I think it was mentioned that Redding had one. I don't know which are acceptable. Some of these races could be considered merely different offshoots of human races, or even an offshoot of Homo Sapiens.

The latter is out of the element of standard nazi doctrine, since those don't exist on Earth anymore. I think we did come up with a heirarchy though. Kobolds/Orcs are clearly savage vermin.
>>
A hitler youth program will be imperative to the long term success of the Reich in this strange world. Only be controlling the hearts and minds of the youth will we gain a loyal population from which to draw recruits to conquer this world.

Also, are there gods in this world?

Info on Dwarves:

>> "I would recommend against attempting to... be overly authoritative with dwarves." He cautions you, "The dwarves are of several nations, though they all yield a great deal of technology. Technology that may even outshine your own, for it incorporates great beasts of fire and steel, as well as cities that overflow with precious ores. The one in the city, however, is both an immigrant and imperial. His clan is a protectorate of the Empire. He came here with his family, and they all work to run the press in particular." He indicates to you.

That was from Berg. The dwarves are probably involved with the mines.

There's probably other clans of Dwarves who aren't Empire aligned, but they may not be within our locale.

Dwarfs clearly embody the hearty craftsman aspect of the Aryan race, whilst Elves embody the culture and sophistication of the Aryan Race. Both should at least be second tier citizens, maybe even lowest level first tier citizens, all according to that chart that was posted last thread

Poor Beregen. What an unfortunate turn of events.

After the major operation in the region, we should prepare a proper funeral procession for him, Wilhelm, and any other notable casualties.

Perhaps we should consult the order of Iudex, or whomever local denomination he belonged to, on what funeral rites he wouldve wanted.

Please, please gentlmen. Like anon said, matters or race are the least of our worries.

How about we discuss something a little more immediate, like the expansion we need and that command is demanding, as well as securing the area.

>If feasible, send teams of snipers and scouts in advance to to survey the area and give us complete warning of enemy troop movements, find high grounds to pick off any any pesky messengers or enemy commanders. Without proper communication the and leadership their forces will crumble.
>We should be wary of the possibility of forces from the south or the east, and be prepared to deal with them as such.
>This is a plan I propose, based of off Rommel's "Infantry Attacks" and in addition to a possible feint
>One moderate sized group shall approach from Redding. This group shall be very flashy, backed by noisy vehicles, yelling and shouting the throwing grenades, and give every impression the whole of our army is headed straight for swordhenge.
>Meanwhile, two much larger but more discreet army groups flank from the south while the largest prepares to secure fort Starbane. If possible, the group attacking starbane should have amphibous and artillery capabilites. Speed and silence will be the names of these groups. They should not even exist in the enemies knowledge.

>If all goes well, our "main body" attacking through the towns will lure out the enemy to attack, wherein if we find heavy resistance we can feint a retreat and further lure them to Redding where we will crush them with prepared defenses as water dashes against a stone. Our flanking groups will then take the primary targets via pincer a manuever while the enemy is distracted elsewhere, and then we can close the fist and mop up what remains.

>If possible, we should consider sending a group of messengers to contact the magi at the Academy, see if we can strike a deal with them.
>>
>>26433543
>If possible, we should consider sending a group of messengers to contact the magi at the Academy, see if we can strike a deal with them.

I'm for this. I'd rather not piss of two Magi who can potentially open up the Gate on their own. That's alot of power.

Can probably bullshit a bit. "Enroll" some of our Thule/Wehrmacht guys for further knowledge, ask for access to their libraries. Hire some of their mages, paying them in golds.

The Magi probably head the academy. Chances are they're like Arthur & the other Mages we've seen--not too concerned with politics, but self-interested. Offer them magical materials and luxuries in exchange for their cooperation.

In terms of artillery? We have 8 FlaK 38 guns carried by half trucks (which can carry 40 men total). We have 18 IeFH 18s & a dozen mortar pieces. Finally, we have 11 tanks that could be used as artillery. We also have Tyr Riese/Jaeger Pentacost, but I don't remember it's armaments.

In regards to them being mechanized-trained, OP said this over IRC:
>> Your Wehrmacht are some of the best troops available-- they likely have training in that role, yes, amongst other operations.

So, we could organize a dedicated mechanized infantry company if we desired.

In terms of our main force, I think we should send x6 Sd. Kfz 251/1s with infantry (to be noisy and fast), and our SS squads. Seeing as how the SS are commandos, they could delay their advance if our "main force" has to retreat.

We also have a ton of trucks we can use to transport supplies and men. 48 light trucks, 30 heavy trucks.
>>
>>26433543
I dislike that we split our forces into four units. We have 1000 soldiers. At least 500 should be sent to Fort Starbane to minimize losses and guarantee victory. The small scouting party was crushed in an ambush, and we should avoid sending less than 100 Wehrmacht with a tank or two and mages to take hostile territory, while still making sure that our posessions, especially Redding, are safe. I fear that while we are near the Fort with the majority of our unit, others will be defeated or taken prisoner. While we should have made sure that Redding is at low risk of rebellion, there is not much information over Fort Vanderbuilt. For all we know, the legion could have magic means of communication and attack us from east, retake Riverside, and attack the main base, forcing us to retreat to assist them. The plan splits our batallion into many small units, and while it is feasible with good intel, we have no idea what awaits us. The risk seems far to great to me.
Instead, we should send one large force to take the Fort and the northern villages. Then, we are sure that there is nothing completely surprising us while attacking our weakest point.
Also, the plan does not take the undead plage near the Fort into consideration. We may have to deal with them too.

There is, in fact, a printing press in Redding. It's run by a group of dwarves-- you had wanted to speak with them some time ago, but Doyle has taken over intelligence operations, and-- as such-- has likely put them in the queue for questioning and intelligence-gathering.

Such a strategy could be developed, in fact, and from what you've been trained to think as a strategist it seems likely to succeed. Unfortunately, your lack of knowledge on the undead, as they're called, may prove problematic.

Further problematic might be your total lack of intelligence on the enemy. Putting your special forces out to gather intelligence, in addition to other forces.

>Siegfried Mini-Quest to be initiated shortly. Any last issues you wish to handle before the transition should be handled now.

>>26435001
Do we intend to continue honoring our agreement in spite of Beregen's death? If so, we could pay a peasant to deliver a message requesting one of the temple's clerics to meet us in our HQ. Or a neutral area in the city, if they're distrustful of us. Which they probably will be, seeing as we, y'know, murdered their Paladin with an unholy soul devouring ritual. Not that they know that yet. Hopefully they don't have scryers...

Either way, we need to work out a new arrangement with them.
>>
>>26435001
Does it say none of us can go in the area at all? Even then we could have a native sent as a diplomat.

Hypothetically, how long would it take to raise native soldiers? Described in: >>26422462
Having dwarves manage our factory or converted into combat engineers.
Elves...additional mages? Teachers of the german language? Propaganda? What are Elves known for, even?

Lets ask for advice from our officers, and tell Gallagher/Speer about our generator idea.
>>
>>26435215
We can give a half-truth so they can't find out the truth through Detect Lie. The fact our Oberst would be sincerely remorseful about his death would lend weight to us.

I think we need to get a radio relay set up, too. Not knowing what's going on in Redding is an issue.
>>
>>26435156

Dear god no.

We won't even have a full battalion at this time for combat operations, and people want to split it up?

How dumb can you be?
>>
>>26435251
>>26435215
If you wish, you could have some of the supply trucks not in use equipped with radios and some operators to work them, to set up a temporary relay. Fortified radio outposts might work better, however, to secure a redundant line of communications.

You could continue honoring your promise, if you wish. Really, the promise was never too specific, particularly as it was mostly pertaining to not interfering in the Temple District and leaving it alone. A liaison there might not hurt, after all.

>>26435217
The natives issue is an interesting one. Gunther was working to establish commandos from your Wehrmacht, a process likely to take several more months, but you could likely muster a simple militia from native soldiers with only a few weeks' training. You just need weapons and ammunition for them to utilize, really.

You know little of the Elves or Dwarves as it is-- such was Doyle's specialty, and Doyle is... not here. Problematic. You've heard that the Dwarves are fantastic with technology, and they could likely make excellent engineers, however.
>>
>>26435730
You do, however, suggest the idea to Gallagher and Speer about the electro-arcane dynamo. You find them still talking, seemingly about anything and everything, which mostly consists of a mixture of high-level engineering ideas and what little Gallagher has learned of magic on his own before coming here.

You:"I had a thought of how to further charge the Gate."
Speer: "Hmm?" He turns towards you, clear interest on his features, "How might you be accomplishing that particular feat?"
Gallagher turns to face you as well.
You: "It seems there's a clear correlation between electricity and magic, especially in charging the Gate. Perhaps we could establish a mix between some magical materials and a hydroelectric generator on the river?"
Gallagher seems thoughtful at this, the Thule Society member humming in thought.
Speer: "Interesting. It could also serve the other way around: Using the magic of the materials may provide a potential source of abundant electricity."

Speer and Gallagher exchange looks, the two men abruptly smiling before looking back to you.

"This will prove a most interesting idea, I think. I shall have my men get on it immediately." Speer informs you, nodding.

Gallagher nods as well, "I shall work on this project personally, though I don't see my own involvement being that necessary beyond supervising."

You smile as well, nodding. There's not much else left before you ought to get in contact with command.

>Any last matters to address?

>>

>>26435803
As it is, Doyle is likely the best candidate for such a program, given his training, but you could find an alternative person if you wish.

You do, however, decide to speak up on the trailer.

"Herr Speer," You state, looking over to the man. "I noticed that you arrived with a rather... sizable trailer." You tell him. "May I inquire as to what is in it?"

"You may." Speer tells you, smiling. "But I am afraid I will not answer until you have that mithril mine under control. The materials inside of it are not dangerous to your men, and that should be sufficient, I feel, for now."

We have a technological and logistical advantage.
Every major battle we've fought has resulted in immense loss of enemy life.
Our officers and soldiers are capable German men.
We're mechanized, with artillery for gods sake. If things go south, we'll have a quick and easy escape route.

If we can't take even the smallest calculated risk and casualty even when the odds are with us, we may as well step down from command.

What major battles did we fight where we were not entrenched in our base and mowed them down with MGs? Taking Redding was not really a battle, and the expedition after the ambush was supported by both artillery and a powerful mage.
There is a large difference between digging in and waiting for them to show their heads and moving through unexplored area in small units, and deploying so many soldiers at once that we can not react to unforeseen complications.

>>26436507
The point is not whether we attack or not, but if there will be one large attack or many small ones.

This is the plan I proposed some time ago. It will not overstretch our forces, as there is not much that can endanger a full infantry company with tank and artillery support, plus several mages marching along. It will leave us in good positions to take the southwestern villages and attack Swordhenge, without forcing us to lower our guard.
>>
>>26436566
We know. And no one wants to assault the fort. We just want to harass messengers and maybe force the enemy out into the open where our superior technology and tactics will destroy them, or force them to bunker up and not oppose us in the open

We have guns and they have spears and shields for gods sake. It's not like we'll lose half our men. You underestimate our soldiers

>>26436655
By the Fuhrer I'm supporting your plan.

Let's get on with the Siegfried quest-thing
>>
>>26436492
>>26436507

I agree with >>26436566
Yeah, we've got all kinds of amazing Nazi technology, but they have sheer numbers and magic and shit. Yes, the troops need to be spread out somewhat in a devoted push, but a deal of caution is advisable. Every other battle has been fought on our terms which is a hell of a lot different from fighting on their land.
>>
>>26436655
This sounds good.

I think that with Doyle & the SS, we should set up a guerrilla/insurgency campaign. Get some locals on our side to fuck with swordhenge, use skirmishers to attack caravans and supply lines. Starve 'em out.
>>
>>26436789
We are highly vulnerable against guerrilla attacks ourselves. You know how hard the ambush and assassination attempt hit. If the Empire retaliates in the same way, we would lose much more than them.
>>
>>26436942
Those were mountain infantry though, not really guerrillas/commandos. In the future, I'm sure we could requisition some trained soldiers who'd give the Empire a run for their money
>>
>>26436566
1. We know there's at least 6000 men in the Fort. We've usually won with a 2:1 advantage, not 12:1.
The anon's plan expects us to be outnumbered, in fact makes provisions for such.
In the event they do come out in force, when they see our army retreat they will surely follow (and we will outpace them) and right into the range of our artillery as well as the fire from our retreating forces and any flanking units.

In the event they don't, and they stay like rats in their city, all the better for us.

2. We"ll be spreading our forces thin even if we win with minimal casualties.
This I can give credit to. Perhaps our goals are a bit ambitious, that is, we do not know how long we can expect a major Imperial counter attack from territories elsewhere in relation to how long is the next reinforcements.

>>26436655
Which is of course, an equally worthy plan with it's own merits of security and (arguably) a more optimal plan.

>What major battles did we fight where we were not entrenched in our base and mowed them down with MGs?
We do have our Sd.Kfz 25's, highly mobile and armored gun emplacements ready to be driven anywhere at a moments notice.
>and deploying so many soldiers at once that we can not react to unforeseen complications.
But then take this from the enemies perspective. We have a major advantage on our side.
The miracle of Radio.
They do not. When they see the enemy surround them from all sides, they won't be able to relay for reinforcements or inform each other the number of troops engaging them and from which direction.

In any event I agree with the security of Major Friederichs plan, but would still like to think that should the circumstances prove to our favor better a little ambition can never harm!
>>
>>26436942
What guerrilla attacks? The ones against our the handful of soldiers we plan to send out? The ones that can infiltrate our base camp? You worry to much.

Our guerrillas can outfight any ambushes with their superior firepower and tactics, and we merely need fortify the camp to prevent any intrustions. Like I said, you worry too much
>>
>>26436986
Right.

Lest we forget the devastating losses and nuisance well placed Finish and German snipers caused during Winter War and the Normandy defense, respectively.
>>
>>26437140
It's 1939. Those haven't even happened yet.
>>
>>26436986
>>26437072
What I meant is that our wehrmacht soldiers can be easily defeated when walking into an ambush. They walk through a forest and archers shoot at them with bows, killing many before being defeated. A patrol in Redding being attacked by a few guys with daggers? Same thing. Stuff like this is really bad for morale, and we can hardly use our technological advantage against it. The preferable way to fight the Empire is army vs army out in the field, or even better against lightly entrenched positions. We should not switch to a tactic in which we are inferior.
>>
>>26437140
>Snipers
>From people who don't have guns
I can see being worried about mages, but snipers? Goddammit anon, our losses could only be big proportinaly, not in actual size. A loss of ten men would hurt, but those ten men can be replaced for their sacrifice.

We are Deutschlanders and we will not cower in the face of these dirt-covered medievals! We must make a move!
>>
>>26437221
No I meant we could potentially do the advance infiltration and sniping which could prove devastating to our enemies.

>>26437170
Of course they haven't in game, but the historical tactics are still sound.
>>
>>26437180
You are overestimating the skill of peasant soldiers my friend. Men with daggers need seconds to reach their opponent, seconds during which they can be gunned down. And archers aren't as accurate as you think. Still, you are right in that we must lure the enemy into a position where we can crush them.
>>
When we fought the Baron's army, most of the casualties were due to lucky shots with arrows, right? Maybe we could find a way to integrate shield walls into our forces for assaulting fortifications. How hard can it be to hold a big hunk of metal in the air?
>>
>>26437321
We have no means to produce "big hunks of metals"

Also, holding aloft a large shield of metal would be very tiresome, cumbersome and would slow our soldiers considerably.
>>
>>26437276
And you are underestimating the value of a knife. Those "seconds during which they can be gunned down" are seconds during which the soldier has to realize he's being attacked and bring his long rifle to bear for close quarters, and that's assuming he notices in the first place. Then, even if archers aren't accurate, they will be used in large numbers. It doesn't matter if all of them are unskilled degenerates, a thousand falling arrows are going to ruin someone's day.
>>
>>26437254
Snipers will be an excellent addition to our force, but sadly, German ones are rare and not trained as well as they could be. If we could acquire a few, they could help us in scouting as well as killing mages and officers.

>>26437321
We should use armored recon vehicles and tanks for that task. Shields would just slow our forces down, be a pain while marching and not protect too well, while making shooting a rifle or MP impossible.
>>
>>26437065
>We have a major advantage on our side.
>The miracle of Radio.
It'd be hilarious to find out that the enemy is somehow incredibly brilliant at evading our forces, and it turns out they're equipped with speaking stones or something that are better than our radios.

Well, hilarious after the panicking of course.
>>
>>26437490
>>26437180
I think the issue here is forested areas where troops are vulnerable to hidden archer fire or ambush.

This wouldn't be a major issue if we had more mechanized/armored units or artillery pieces ready to clean them out while being impervious to arrows.

We should just stay away from forests I think.

>Initiating Siegfried min-Quest at this point, since discussion for battle plans is all that remains.

You are Thule Society Archmage Albert Siegfried, and you have finally liberated yourself-- even temporarily-- from Oberst Hans Landa and his ilk.

Currently, you are walking along, the rest of the cargo and items having advanced well beyond you. You are walking because the Gate, in its infinite, alien majesty, appears to be unwilling to let you leave.

You are walking towards the light regardless, towards the other end of the Gate, towards freedom and liberty and a whole new world.

You hear voices all around you. Screaming. Shouting. It is not silence, as you heard coming here. Of course, you know why: This world does not wish to see you leave it, for you have been marked by it, made one of its own.

You have learned so very much in scouring the minds of others. It began with a few precious grains of knowledge, but it has now become an hourglass, sands of arcane knowledge and occult power accumulating from those greater than you and trickling down to the unmoving base that you have become.

Even now, the voices scream at you, hundreds of voices rising up from the blackness, hands visible at the edge of your sight, grasping and clawing at you.

"Don't!"
"You'll ruin everything!"
"Murderer!"
"Monster!"
"SLAUGHTERER!"
"Black Reaper--"
"Evil!"
"Black Sorcerer!"
"Dark Wizard!"
"STOP!"
"HALT!"

Hundreds of languages, you recognize, all screaming at you, their words translated by the ring on your finger.

"Why?" You answer, continuing to walk forward. You watch several misshapen figures reach out from the edges of the darkness, the light being projected from the other end of the Gate illuminating them as the shadowy, half-human figures they are.

You see a hand reach out from the shadows, a thin hand. You see the face it's attached to: A man in surgeon's overalls, his face cast in horror and shock, his skin cast black with the darkness that has inked around him. His hand, almost looking two-dimensional in nature, reaches towards your face.

"Must not pass!" He beseeches. You recognize him as one of the men you chose for the Gate to consume. Were you a lesser man, you might even be scared of this vengeful specter that has seemed to reach towards you.

Instead, you can only recognize that he was likely a man of great willpower in life, to be able to retain even this hollow projection of himself in this realm. You continue stepping forward, casually raising a hand. You feel the energy of the sacrifices form an ablative covering around your arm, the shade's touch whispering along the glowing red barrier around your arm.

"HELP ME PLEA--" The shade begins, dissipating as you walk on.

You're briefly halted by a mental image, a vivid memory that's not your own, forced past your wards for a second.

You're in a movie theater. A burning movie theater, and you see the eagle of the Reich sitting over the screen, red curtains all around you. Flames roar around you as you find yourself rushing towards the exit, the crowd pressed tight against the doors, doors that refuse to budge. You hear a woman laughing in English at your demise, as gunfire peppers the crowd around you. You see a dead body flip over the balcony overhead, which collapses from the flames licking at its wooden frame.

Hermann Göring stares up at you, his eyes vacant, his body leaking from multiple holes in his torso. There's an explosion of flame and fire.
>>
>>26438410
And your eyes open once more, the shade dissolving entirely as you continue onward. Hundreds of eyes, millions of them, open across the vast darkness of the tunnel, staring down at you.

Magical energy rushes around you in ebbs and flows, and you feel a vast power here. You laugh once more, in the face of this horror.

"Must not leave."
"Cannot leave."
"World will die."
"Fate shall perish."
"Devil."
"Demon."
"Monster."
"Lucifer."
"Black Tiger."

All of these words swirling around you, but you're close now. The exit is almost within reach.

You stroll forward, flaunting the efforts of the Gate. You get within the last few feet of the exit when you hear something behind you. A heavy, thundering step.

Heavy to the extent that you feel the ground shudder beneath you. You look out into the light, seeing the concrete-lined interior of the Berlin bunker facility, the half-dozen men wheeling the cart containing the goods away, countless other personnel standing at attention as they watch the Gate in awe.

You look behind you, lashing behind you. A massive cone of flame erupts from your fingertips in a 30ft length, the searing white hellfire meant to consume even the heartiest of soldiers.

Unfortunately for you, it simply sears at the knees of the creature behind you. Standing some forty feet tall, it's almost as large as your construct back in the other world.

Unfortunately, this monster is flesh and bone and fire, its massive, leathery wings splaying out to either side. Massive runes, symbols that you recognize as ones of binding and control. Its flesh seems to be partially shadow, particularly where your flames have eaten away at its lower leg.

The symbols flash bright as it approaches, its right hand clenching into a fist, a wickedly curved blade materializing. A sword that sparks into green fire, its left hand clenching as a whip of pure flame formulates.

You recognize it as a demon, but some sort of demon you've yet to read of. Its massive, curled horns are akin to that of a ram, and its reddish flesh-- tinged with black veins-- seems to propel it forward rather fluidly, its entire body rippling with muscle.

You take a wary step back. "What do you want?" You shout at the monster.

It stares down at you, and you flick your hand up as you see the whip in its off-hand crack around, screaming at your body. There's a sound like lightning as you expend some of the vast energy of the realm, shaping it into a shadowy wall that shatters under the whip's momentum.

"DIE." It screams back at you, with a voice unlike any other you've heard. It sounds like hundreds of voices screaming in unison, grating at your ears; grating at your mind.

Which is perhaps concerning, because as you take a step back, nearing the precipice of the gate. You take that crucial step back, watching the men flee as the whip-- suspended next to you-- shifts and shambles.

You watch the curled horns of its head emerge from the precipice of the Gate, your eyes focusing as you feel your feet touch the concrete flooring on this side of the Gate. The creature's form shifts and distorts as it emerges after you, the men behind you screaming as they catch sight of the massive demon.

Its bright flesh warps under the light of the room, the symbols etched into its flesh burning a dark shade of pink, especially around its neck. You point your hand at the symbols on its neck, your magical power here feeling quite potent.

A spear of pure kinetic force materializes in front of your fingertips, spearing into its throat, lancing one of the symbols, which explodes into a riot of colors and blood.

The monster's form shifts as wisps of smoke rise up from its curling flesh, your hands dancing about as you see some of the men fumbling on this side of the Gate. The whip in the demon's hands shifts into a massive cat-o'-nine-tails crafted entirely from some bright purple metal. The massive length whips around as you summon another shield for yourself, the spiked chains tearing across this side of the command post.
>>

It shall not pass!
>>
>>26439966
Glass, concrete, and steel shatter in the wake of the weapon, the glass-paneled observational balcony exploding into gore and broken equipment, showering down below as several lights are blown out.

The demon screams again as its body shifts, reducing to half its height, its head splitting into three separate ones, one meaty hand wrapped around its throat as it stares down at you with all three heads, looking canine in nature. The sword it once clutched slams to the ground, burying itself to the hilt, but the chain crashes against your personal barrier once more, rattling your arcane powers hard enough to cause your nose to bleed.

"PERISH." It screams, all three heads speaking in unison.

You hear the clatter of boots as a squad of heavy panzergrenadiers whip around the corner, a thirteen-man-strong heavy assault squad, each soldier clad in body armor, four of them carrying a pair of heavy machine guns between them, trying to get them set up to face the monster. The rest open fire on it, their rounds tearing through its flesh with enough velocity to cause it to stagger back.

"DIE!" It screams in its most basic words.

>[ ] Order the men to try and capture it.
>[ ] Attempt to kill it where it is.
>[ ] Attempt to drive the monster back into the Gate.
>[ ] Attempt to give the soldiers arriving some cover.

You clap your hands together as you scream out an order.

"Capture the beast alive!" You bark, as even more men begin to pour in. "Restrain it! Aim for the legs!"

You draw your hands apart, arcane theories swarming through your mind, symbols and sigils of power quickly summoned inside of your mind's eye. You overlay them onto the ones rounding the monster's neck.

Lights flicker as you clap your hands together a second time, the explosive runes forming across the creature's neck, directly over the binding symbols. Bullets continue to whittle at its legs, a black smoke seething out of them and back into the Gate itself, which is now beginning to slowly close.

"Capture it!" You repeat, drawing back as the black smoke seethes outwards. A few of the more adventurous soldiers, armed with shotguns, draw in close, attempting to riddle its bleeding legs with additional rounds. The moment the smoke touches them, however, they break into screams, their bodies shivering as their flesh begins to fall right from the bone.

It doesn't take a genius like yourself to realize that whatever this creature is bleeding, it's caused three very good men to abruptly become possessed. Especially when a crown of sharp, ivory horns erupts through their helmets, jagged bone shards glistening with blood.

You hear screams from the men behind you as they set up the heavy machine guns, blasting away large chunks of the monster with concentrated fire. It rears its arm back to whip the chain forward again, but you trigger your spell with a snap of the fingers, all three of its heads howling in agony as large chunks of flesh and gore are abruptly blasted in every direction, the pseudo-demonic smoke pouring off of it in waves. It ceases actively attacking, however, but you can see chunks of its flesh bubbling around where it's been shot, the flesh attempting to mend back together.

You point at the demonspawn, their bodies twitching as they turn towards their comrades, leveling their submachine guns at their comrades. The MP40s rattle as they mow down two of their comrades. You're not even able to muster an order by the time they're mowed down, the demons dropping like sacks of potatoes as rifle rounds turn their heads confetti.

Blood stains the air as the monster attempts to regain its wits, but your orders ring out loudly as you project a wide shield around yourself and the men, closing it in on the demon itself. Its three heads turn towards you, bone and sinew visible as its eyes bore into your own.

"DEATH!" It screams, and you can see-- with your arcane senses-- shards of pure blackness erupting from its middle head. The one to your left vents pure flame as the one to the right forks lightning from its maw. The men continue their fire, however, and you watch as a well-placed spray of machine gun rounds turns the right eye of the left head into bloody pulp. More and more rounds continue to spew forth.

You concentrate the shield, your body soaked with exertion as the shards of blackness smash into your arcane shield, all of your efforts being put towards containing the beast. The Gate is beginning to close already, but as the volume of fire overwhelms its rate of regeneration, the creature attempts to drag itself back with its one good arm, discarding its chain as it flops onto its back, then onto its stomach. Bullets perforate its back as it attempts to crawl into the insane darkness of the Gate itself.

Which is right about when a pair of men with flammenwerfers arrive, fuel tanks sloshing, flames already ignited. The weapons belch flame as they attempt to rush forward, the black miasma lingering for now, but fading back in the face of the flames.

You clap your hands together a second time as the monster attempts to get away, the Gate rapidly closing in its face. You gesture to the chains it had dropped, clenching your hands into a fist. You feel a brief, powerful resistance coming from the metal, but it fades, the spiked chains streaking up and around its former wielder.

The demon lets out an unholy shriek as the flammenwerfer-armed troopers spray gouts flame at its body, the areas where the fires touch seemingly sufficient to stunt its healing abilities.

The men cease their fire as the chains slither around its body, the telekinetic magic dragging it away from the Gate as the twin doors finally seal shut.

The monster's horned heads lower as it simply heaves in agony, the black miasma surrounding it being obliterated with the liberal application of napalm. You dab at your bleeding nose, your ears ringing slightly as you step away from the fallen monster.

You can taste the terror in the air. The fear of your men. You tap into it, hiding your smile, as you gesture at the massive demon, forging overlapping rings of explosive runes upon its flesh, long chains of the symbols around each of its tattered heads. You bind them only to your command.

The chains remain taut as it struggles vainly, but you have captured it. With the symbols magically envisioned, you snap your fingers, the power granted to you by the fear of the men here helping etch the explosive symbols into the demon's flesh with acid.

The screams are music to your ears as you turn around to the rest of the men.

"Secure the monster, and secure the remains of the fallen!" You snap, stepping past the men. "I have other business to attend to."

Please no. Siegfried has a positive demeanor towards us, which we should use to keep him on our side without becoming baby-eating nazis. Somehow. The fact is that he's probably the best mage in the Reich.
>>
>>26442822
He advocated for a cthulhuesque blood magic ritual that got many people killed or taken out of comission, and ruined our reputation for more. He wiped out our ENTIRE mechanized infantry division that we requested, along with a number of medical staff and who knows who else, setting our assault on Starbane back until the next opening. and let's not forget how he thinks of us:

>You are Thule Society Archmage Albert Siegfried, and you have finally liberated yourself-- even temporarily-- from Oberst Hans Landa and his ilk.

LIBERATED. ILK. we're a thuggish ball-and-chain to him.

>"Devil."
>"Demon."
>"Monster."
>"Lucifer."
>"Black Tiger."

He was LITERALLY called Lucifer by the Shades in the gate. There is no way to associate with this man without either turning into Baby-Eating-Nazis or pissing him off against us.

We just put a moratorium on Black Magic in effect, and we want to welcome the head warlock back into the fold? No. We need to take care of him somehow, before it's too late.
>>

Agreed, at this stage he's just a powerful enemy, albeit one that's occasionally useful to our interests from time to time. Man needs to be taken care of pronto.
>>
>>26443357
I'm going to play devil's advocate a little.

How do we know the mech. infantry wasn't just from the Gate? It's hinted IC that the noble family sacrifices redirected it from choosing our own guys.

>You are Thule Society Archmage Albert Siegfried, and you have finally liberated yourself-- even temporarily-- from Oberst Hans Landa and his ilk.

That's meta knowledge, though. OP may need to specify what "+3 Influence" means but that's the highest we ever hit.

Gunther is a psychopath. Siegfried however is cosmically, objectively evil. Just how the hell can we take care of him without pissing off any of his contacts or the Thule Society? I suspect the Thule Society has factions, but us being caught killing him would probably cause an uproar for taking out one of their own.

The only thing I can think of doing is seeking advice from Arthur and/or the temple district. Siegfried probably isn't the strongest mage in the setting even now.
>>
>>26443357
>>26443507
>>26443655
Also there is the fact that at this moment I doubt we could even scratch him. Hell he just took down and captured what is most likely a powerful Demon that was charged with protecting the gateway.

We are at +3 with him relationship wise so when he says "us and our ilk" I think he is talking about the command structure. Now he has time for pure research and other fun stuff on the other side.

You clench your hands as you walk. You should be exceptionally high strung right now, but you've learned for some time how to help manage the stress of life-or-death situations. A cool calm runs through you as you mutter a few arcane words.

Alarms and klaxons die down as you walk through the halls, enjoying the feeling of being back on Earth. You elect that it might be wise to get some permanent accommodations for your new compatriot.

Just as you begin to contemplate which Thule guildhouse would be suitable, you see a rather large, rotund man... Ah. Yes. The-- Generaloberst?

There it was. He was, rather. The portly little man overseeing operations on this side of the Gate. So very, very unaware of just what had transpired. He stares directly at you.

"What's the meaning of all this?" He shouts, the klaxons finally beginning to die down. "I've heard reports of shooting! The entire command station is dead silent, and there's nothing but madness on the radio! Nevermind that one of my adjutants just accused you of being a trai--"

You stare into his eyes, making contact. What you had told Oberst Landa was true about mind magic: It is not simple. For some time, it was well beyond your abilities, but it soon occurred to you why. Those strong of will or high in intellect are highly resilient to even the most basic of mental influence.

You lock eyes with him, and you can only smile as you see just how weak-willed this commander is. No master strategist he, you can read his life like an open book. Not only that, but you can even ink into it., altering his thoughts... memories, even... Although you suspect that your ability to do so is aided by the fact that Earth has not had a mage for some time.

This may change when more spellcasters become prominent. Something you will have to do, in time, doubtlessly.

For now, you are in control.

Sure we got radios, and automatic weapons and tanks and shit...but the other side has magic and dragons and golems and an awful lot of other shit we don't know about.

Hint - Isandwana was a say 15 to 1 numerical for the Zulu and they took about 1000 KiA and 2000 wounded for the complete destruction of a 1500 men.
Actually come to thing of it - the Zulu war is an excellent study. Our future military campaign should take some notes from it. Or suffer the same fate as column 3&2

That was in 1880, not 1940. And frankly, this isn't a thread to wank about "savages" as you aptly put it. I don't know why you feel the need to rush to their defense since it's a quest where WW2 Germans are the protagonists.

It's also about 3AM here. If I misread your intentions and meant "hey we shouldn't just dismiss them", I apologize. We already realize that, which is why we haven't tried storming the entire local area with barely 1300 men vs probably x10 that number. Especially when we're lacking in counter-magic.

Break control. We just need to manipulate him a bit. This guy is clearly a tool of a system. There's no way he's a serious threat when we're the most renowned mage in the Reich.

You elect to try all of the above!

You gently smile at the man as you practice your mental influencing abilities, new as they are. The general is a man of many vices: Greed, gluttony, pride, amongst numerous others.

You twist his thoughts with only a little bit of manipulation, though it is a bit tiring. A quick read of his thoughts tells you that he's concerned of your loyalty thanks to a report by none other than the Oberst.

Understandable. Your parting words were a bit excited, considering all the prospects you now have. You simply smile as your eyes bore into his own, rewriting sections of his memory, implanting new thoughts and emotions with little twitches of magic, burning out certain neurons.

You'll likely have ruined his mind in a few decades as a result of your tampering and scouring, but you have what you need. You smile at the man as you reach a hand towards his forehead, feeling for the suspicions and distrust of you. You bring them to the forefront within him, watching his expression sour.

"Let me take care of those." You whisper, pinching your fingers together over his forehead, seeing a faint wisp of black energy form there. His expression goes wide with terror.

"Please... No." He manages through your rock-solid control.

You smile back at him, opening your mouth as you hold the sum of his distrust at you in your fingers, plucked from him. You toss it into your mouth, devouring it-- and a good measure of his fear-- in one bite. Just in time, too, as another squad of soldiers march by you, heading towards the Gate to help secure the monster there, the men rolling along long trolleys with heavy chains on them.

The Generaloberst looks at you blankly, his mind reeling, trying to recover. You decide to fill in the blanks for him with a smile.
>>
>>26443774
You know who could touch him, though? Stronger mages, which do exist. Siegfried is very much aware he's still not at the top of the food chain. Especially if they can make use of our stockpile.
>>
>>26444302
"It was quite a lovely dinner we had, General." You mention to him, remembering the ancient books you pilfered from Redding's mages. Nasty tomes filled with plenty of obscurity, but your intellect could read between the lines. By filling in the blank spaces of memories with stories of things they would be amenable to, or otherwise enjoy remembering, their psyche would manufacture the necessary thoughts.

"Very lovely indeed. Such exquisite food we were enjoying as well, I might add. The fact that the Oberst's report was so alarming was quite silly, but the magic did have a tendency of causing... vivid imaginings. It's alarming that he'd be so concerned with what he saw. On an unrelated note... I'm sure that your brother-in-law's business will benefit greatly with the new technologies that this magic will yield." You inform him.

He lights up greatly. You know, from scouring his thoughts, that he's been diverting fuel shipments to his brother's automotive factories, helping edge in those extra hours of productivity to put himself over the competition. Embezzlement that has yielded the Generaloberst some very luxurious kickbacks.

"Yes.... Yes, we should, my good Albert." He remarks, his look of terror flicking over to a smile. "Now then! There's a special storage vault we prepared for the magical materials you were to ship back, but I think that the reinforced foundations and equipment in there should be ideal for this-- What did you call it?"

Another editing of memory.

"It's merely a magical phantasm." You tell him. "It's very intimidating-looking, but the danger it poses is exceptionally minimal thanks to the illusions it projects to seem deadly." You tell him. A lie, but only a lie you need to keep him compliant in the interim. "The men that died did so from its defensive mechanisms. Nothing to alarm yourself over. I shall have plenty more to yield unto you once it is properly analyzed by my peers." You tell him.
>>
>>26444302
He nods. "Yes, si--" He almost calls you 'sir', before frowning at himself. "Yes. Yes, I'll be quite looking forward to that, Albert."

You smile, nodding. "Excellent. I'll have the body moved into there, and have the other Thule Society members begin work in there once the remains have arrived."

The Generaloberst nods as well, seemingly satisfied, if looking a bit out-of-place.

"Yes. That sounds excellent." He remarks, smiling. "I shall be attending to the repairs in the interim. Do keep me updated!" He remarks, nodding to himself again. A nervous habit, it seems, that your mental tampering as added to him. Ah well.

It's a learning process.

>[ ] What now, Siegfried?
>>
>>26444253
That's a small issue if he pushes or gets around the "black magic" deal. Gallagher seems a nice enough guy, but he's subordinate to Siegfried.

>>26444494
Did he have anything in mind? Meeting other thule mages? Researching magic away from prying eyes?
>>
>>26444494
Some food, I think we've earned it. A nice steak and beer would hit the spot!

(Side note: I'm fucking terrified of Seigfried now, we need to develop anti-magic runes and/or tech back in Fantasyland stat - we should also deliver some to the Fuhrer, Himmler and other high-up Nazis when we get the chance.)
>>
>>26444494
The only other thin I can think of is meeting any other thule mages and start getting to work on "studying" our new pet we just bound.
>>
>>26444645
He's getting strong pretty fast. Depending on how he reacts to coming back, we should nip him in the bud before he becomes uncontrollable.
>>
>>26444732

Considering what he did to that Balrog, it might be too late for that.

I'm starting to get paranoid because of him...
>>
>>26444645
The down side of this? Our friend Seifgried is now basically in control Gate command and can intercept/look at anything we send back through the gate. He might even take a portion of whatever we send for this "projects".

>>26444494
What if....we could control our new pet in the same way you can control the golem?
>>
>>26444766
>>It began with a few precious grains of knowledge, but it has now become an hourglass, sands of arcane knowledge and occult power accumulating from those greater than you and trickling down to the unmoving base that you have become.

I think that, if not Magus Arthur, the the two Magi at at the academy or our "temple district" can take care of them. It's about strategizing.
>>
>>26444780
I didn't even consider that...dam. We just have to hope that the other top Nazi's appreciate how dangerous Seigfried could be. I mean, they are political animals at all.

Also, I'm assuming that there are higher ups in the Thule Society who Seigfried had to report to?
>>
>>26444865
We don't know. I suspect there's factions--for storytelling reasons and because Siegfried gave me that feeling when they talked at the Keep.
>>
>>26444766
>>26444829
I actually like Seigfried and at least he is the "devil" we know.
>>
>>26444920
There's no other devil. Things like "the ends justify the means" exist in the world where Hans came from--a world without magic, a world of science. It doesn't apply to giddily doing a ritual that's a cross between being lovecraftian and satanic.

He's objectively evil. He didn't consider the oberst-general human for a split second, and co-opted our commander. He used phrases like "your science" and thought he was liberated from us and our "ilk". He's power thirsty. He's extremely dangerous and only becoming stronger.

I don't dislike him as a character, but he's a serious threat.
>>
>>26444920
You can like Siegfried all you want. Hell, he's one of my favourite characters in all the quests I follow. But that doesn't change the fact that he's now the bad guy and shouldn't be trusted at all.
>>
>>26445023
As a character I think Seigfried is brilliant, he is complex with a clear personality and multiple motivations.

But as Landa, I view him suspiciously at best and would be planning various ways in which he 'accidentally' dies when he comes back through the Portal next time.
>>
>>26445432
Yeah. I really like him, and want to see more of him.

But this guy seems to be a greater bane than boon. Maybe we could organize a meeting between someone from Iedux (sp?) since they seem to be the LG guys, Arthur & Doyle while Siegfried is gone.

>As I forgot to mention it earlier: Influence is representative of how much pull/sway you have with a person. While Gunther may not like you very much as a person for being a pasty nerd, he has a hearty respect now for your command, as well as your ability to care about the troops, something that Gunther cares a fair amount for. Likewise, Siegfried has certainly voiced some content at being away from you, but your influence with him-- by giving him what he's wanted thus far-- has prevented him from doing... well... what he just did with the Generaloberst, or at least trying to.

You can only smile as you walk along, the knowledge you plucked from the Generaloberst positively delicious. Military secrets are fine and good (Especially some of the political things you've learned for getting some pull with the lesser officers), but what you really enjoy is the actually useful things.

For instance, the Generaloberst's requisitioning of some very interesting new technology. Rockets. In particular, some of Von Braun's latest designs in rocketry. You can only smile to yourself as you make your way to your new laboratory, located about a kilometer downward from your current location.

You don't bother walking the rest of the distance. You simply visualize it in your head: The massive steel girders upholding the reinforced concrete roof. The countless balconies of steel and iron. The service elevators, large enough to fit multiple tanks upon them, leading up and down. Dozens of scientists and engineers roaming in every direction, as well as countless Thule Society members. Names that you picked out for this very purpose before your arrival. Trusted allies and colleagues in the society.
>>
>>26445699
You feel energy build at your fingertips. The golem was just the start. It was complex enough to impress the Oberst, and indeed, it was quite the feat. But you have so very, very much more tucked away in your mind.

The golem was very simple. You focus for a moment before an idea occurs to you. You can only grin as you feel reality shift beneath your feet, the air whirring with a small thunderclap as you reappear on the central elevator. The Generaloberst was quite handy for providing you all the detailed memories you needed to...

Oof. That teleport actually took a fair bit out of you, even for such a short range. You catch yourself on the railing, catching your breath as you look at the scientists and engineers going through the crates sent back before you. Already, they were putting the mithril bars under intense analysis, microscopes everywhere. The books and potions and magical items flew in every direction. Berlin was pouring vast resources not only into this project, but to keep it quiet.

You catch your breath for a few moments as you think. You could undertake a number of projects now. Your new pet will be on the way.

Ah yes. Pet. That golem was interesting in that you were able to establish a direct, one-way mental link between the ring wearer and the golem. You could build on that, though, in so many ways. With this demon, you could very well craft another such ring, one that could stand to potentially override its intellect. It'd require a fair amount of platinum but, ah, entirely doable.

You could also attempt to research specific rituals, or spells, if you desire. There was a seemingly endless amount of resources to request and utilize on this side of the Gate. Perhaps you could even get to work on training some new acolytes from the Thule Society members already present? All of whom saw your entrance with wide eyes, a mixture of terror and awe in their eyes.
>>
>>26445766
You're not human to them, you realize rather quickly. Good. You can use that kind of fear, especially for refueling yourself.

We will need vast resources at our disposable with minimal questions asked or oversight.

I think a potent combination of sucking up and blackmail via-a-ve our superiors within the Party will do just the trick; and once we do it this time we probably won't have to worry about it again. Like any true Nazi, we need to carve out our own little empire within the vast state bureaucracy.

If we get some of them to "competent" levels we can have them assist us better when we go into making an even better ring for our new pet.

This.

I have some thoughts

1. This is meta knowledge, but Bangalore does not exist in linear time, or didn't. The Holocaust hasn't happened yet, but he knows it will. He also knows we're from Nazi Germany, which suggests the "Abyss" has some loose connection to our Earth.

2. The Empire caught some of our men. That includes any equipment they carried on them unless the foot soldiers disregarded them, or our troops had time to hide/destroy them.

3. Siegfried used "your science". This suggests he's pretty insular and ignorant of non-magical fields. Which means he's completely and utterly vulnerable to things like mentalism, psychology and probably even drugs. He'd also have no 'magical defense' against something immaterial and mundane like say, reverse psychology. Mentalism is also pretty strong--there was this one video where a mentalist managed to convince a group of non-believers into believing God by mimicking techniques Evangelists use.

4. There's Vickerson, which I have a few points on. Some are tangential, or related to Siegfried.
-A. Willpower/strong intellect makes mind control impossible. Vickerson has to be educated to be a priest, and IRL we know how powerful faith can be on the mind.
-B. The fucked up blood ritual and Siegfried's involvement is definitely spreading and festering while Siegfried is away. Let's get Vickerson to make religious sermons over the PA/radio. This will do two things to make them more resistant to mind control magic. Firstly, it will make them more religiously conscious--which'd means a stronger resistance. It also means they'd be more conscious of how satanic the ritual was, which would make them subconsciously more resistant to Siegfried--who pretty much is anathema for that ritual. At the least it'd be awesome to exploit if we fight demons.
-C. Can "God" be spoken to? Can he give divine magic to Vickerson? Mundane magic seems to run off "Willpower". So what if divine magic--real gods or not--run off Faith/Conviction (which is a form of willpower anyway)? That'd be pretty big, and I suspect that.
-D. Who is to say this is limited to 'traditional magic' in Fantasyland? What about scientists? Science as understood is very consistent and logical. What about super science? What about a dedicated unit of soldiers who rigidly believe in the laws of reality--that magic does not exist, which can easily be done through mental exercises and even making a "religion" out of?

5. Shit can come out of the Gate. We should be prepared it may not be things we'd like.
>>
>>26446334
I forgot one more thing.

Magic also seems to be fueled by Emotion. At the least, it can awaken magical potential. Maybe we could do "ceremonies" to inspire certain emotions? Anything from having troops watch horror films (fear is pretty powerful) to whatever.

Remember how at the battle when the baron attacked, we felt the raw fear and dread? What if the gate wasn't just powered by those lives, but the feelings too? It can be exploited like I said in the above paragraph.

So, I think we should do a meeting with some NPCs on killing Siegfried. But before that?

Meet with Gabriella, Buren, Vickerson, Gallagher and maybe Speer. Maybe separately. Gabriella can do SCIENCE! Buren can work on literal Anti-Magic. Vickerson? Divine magic, and get him on that PA/radio. Gallagher? Well, this contributes to making a more efficient magic theory. Speer? Exploiting magic with Gallagher to power/build stuff I suppose?

You elect that, for now, training new acolytes would be the most viable course of action Especially since you reserved quite a bit of talent for yourself.

You couldn't send everyone valuable through the Gate, now could you? Not with the risk of being caught up in it, at least.

You laugh as the elevator descends, having refueled yourself enough to think clearly now, stepping off to the cheerful arms of your fellow Thule members. Acquaintances of many years and days gone by, but the strength of their bonds is as powerful as ever. A true cabal of like-minded fellows. Handshakes and hugs are the standard of greeting.

Mattias, a fellow initiate from when you first joined, is particularly cheerful to see you, wrapping you in a warm hug. "Albert!" He greets, chuckling, smiling at you warmly. "Such a pleasure to see you." He greets you, the warmth of his emotions... refreshing. You're used to suspicion for your affiliations.

It's nice to have friendly faces here. You decide to head over to the crate after smiling at your friend, "Good to see you as well, my friend. It is time to show you what I have learned!" You state.

You head over to the numerous books, picking up a familiar, lacquered wooden box. A lone wand, a half-dozen freshly-made rings of translation attached to it, sits within the velvet-lined interior. You slip the rings off, handing them one-by-one to your peers.

"Pair up." You state, smiling at the dozen men before you. "I cannot teach you the ways of true magic. Not by normal means." You tell them. This is as good a first lesson as any you can give.

"In order to make this world a place fit for us, you must first learn how to unbuild walls." A very careful choice of phrasing, but apt, you feel, to guide them. "You must learn that just as there is life and death, there is undeath, and unlife."

You pause, watching their eyes train on you.
>>
>>26446690
"Well? Get to it!" You remark, smiling, as you gesture to the rather large compilation of books taken from Redding. You left the originals with Gallagher, but these copies-- transcribed with the aid of scriveners in Redding, paid quietly for some German chocolates and other small trinkets-- ought to be more than enough to open their minds.

Which leaves you with plenty more to work on. The question is, what shall be your great undertaking for now?

>Oberst must sleep! Will continue more, if the thread is still alive, in the morning.
>>
>>26446492
Buren would be an excellent candidate for Science anti-magic.

>> "I have to rely on witchcraft and hocus-POCUS,"

He does seem pretty dismissive of magic already.

>Let's get Vickerson to make religious sermons over the PA/radio. This will do two things to make them more resistant to mind control magic. Firstly, it will make them more religiously conscious--which'd means a stronger resistance.

Religion is a very very fickle matter in Nazi Germany.

Hitler has proven hostile to both the numerous denominations of Christianity and German Esosterism/Neopaganism if they don't match his ideal of the state. Officially, the state supports "Positive Christianity", while at the same time tolerating and promoting elements of Neopaganism.

The gods may be as much vying for power as men are.

Dr. Buren and Vickerson are against magic, as is the God they serve. Odin, on the otherhand, is the patron of the Seiðr. Thule society, though Siegfried's defection, is still filled with loyal servants of the Reich both in mind and in spirit,

The question is, is "Got mitt uns" and will the pearly gates open herself to us? Or do our service to Reich will grant us a seat in Valhalla?

Landa seemed troubled by the thought of "damnation", so it'd be safe to assume he might be christian.
