You are Three-Claw, a Yautja hunter of the Cloud Viper clan. You have been tasked by your clan Matriarch to investigate breaches of forbidden knowledge by clan Weyland on the planet Fey'lenn, or Pandora, as it is known in the human tongue.

You and Sharp-Strike silently make your way back to your barracks at the end of a long night. As you approach the dormitory from the outside, you notice the window to your room has been slid open. You distinctly remember leaving it shut.

Sensing something is amiss, you motion Sharp-Strike to be alert. You crouch, to hide your profile, and carefully stalk towards the open window.

Do you:

A. Carefully sneak alongside the window and peek inside.
B. Send a remote drone to crawl through the window.
C. Take a running leap through and surprise whoever happens to be inside

You lay prone beneath a patch of shadows and place a drone on the ground. It crawls up the wall and inches its way over the lip of the window. You carefully peek inside.

The room seems to be empty. No one is inside, and there's no sign of tampering. You check under various furnitures and around each crevice, but find nothing.

You withdraw the drone and carefully vault over the window. You double check all your belongings. Everything seems to be in order.

"Do you smell that?" Sharp-Strike asks you.

You sniff the air. He's right - there is a slight hint of a strange smell. You take a few more breaths, and identify the odor.

"Poison. From the sac of a pit viper," you tell him. "Seems like someone tried to kill us with poison gas. Then they found out we weren't here, and so opened the window to let the gas dissipate. It's mostly gone now."

Do you:

A. Report this assassination attempt to the Night-Prowler authorities.
B. Do nothing, secure the window, and get a good night's sleep.
C. Spend half of the night putting trip wires and alarms around the room before sleeping.

>>C. Spend half of the night putting trip wires and alarms around the room before sleeping.

The two of you expertly rifle through your luggage and take out a variety of strings, clips, and gadgets expressly prepared for such purpose.

You spend several hours putting trip wires and improvised noise makers both inside and outside your immediate dormitory.

To your surprise, Sharp-Strike seems to be a natural at stringing together improvised devices. At the end of it all, you run through a check list of approaches, such as the window, main door, and adjacent wall. You even placed a jury-rigged seismic sensor on the roof, just in case someone gets the bright idea of dropping in from above.

At last, satisfied that you've got all approaches covered, the two of you go to sleep.

You wake up the next morning, still feeling somewhat drained. You check the match schedule, and notice Dark-Spike has been disqualified. Sharp-Strike will have two matches today, but with your transmitter spoofed, you may move around freely.

Do you:

A. Head to the arena with Sharp-Strike.
B. Find some place inconspicuous and sift through the transmitter data streams.
C. Go find Ashen-Blade and get the briefing on what happened in the Hall of Ceremonies last night.
D. Scout out the city and scope out the prison where Quick-Shadow is locked up.

>D. Scout out the city and scope out the prison where Quick-Shadow is locked up.
Oh, this. Time to scope out the only bro Night-Prowler.

When overheard those conspirators talking did they say they would deal with us "tomorrow" or "after the tournament"? I forget, it's been a while. Regardless we may need to deal with them soon.
>>
>>26501401
A. We can't split up. Too dangerous.
>>
>>26501401
Hmm.. This is a hard vote. On the one hand, if we don't accompany Sharp-Strike, we may miss out on another attempt to tamper with his shot at success. Even though the tourney is our cover for this, if he loses or gets DQ'd we lose our reason to be here.

On the other hand, we can't put off gathering information too much longer. We haven't even begun to get into the real mission here.

Then again, I don't know much about Quick-Shadow, because I haven't read all of the archive, so I don't know what value talking to him might yield... I'm going to abstain this vote.
>>
We can check the data streams after the tourney today. It is suspicious for a mentor to not be at his student's side while he is fighting.

>>A. Head to the arena with Sharp-Strike.

You decide to accompany Sharp-Strike to the arena.

As you pass through the outer gates into the plaza, you once more notice the decorated shuttle that serves as Death-Gifter's personal ride parked in the corner. The pilot is standing guard outside, but Death-Gifter himself is nowhere to be seen.

As you make your way through the plaza, you can't seem to shake the feeling that someone is watching you. Sharp-Strike, too, seems to share your concern, as you notice him slipping furtive glances behind him.

Do you:

A. Drop back and see if you can flush out the stalker.
B. Continue walking at normal pace, but be observant.
C. Head towards a crowded area and attempt to lose your tail.

>>B. Continue walking at normal pace, but be observant.

You maintain your pace and continue to act casual. Sharp-Strike, however, seems to be tensing up. You turn to him and begin to chat to him about today's fight, and making small talk about the other contestants. He takes the hint, and falls back into a relaxed stride.

You pass through the security checkpoint and enter the arena. You check the match schedule. Sharp-Strike will be fighting in the first and fifth matches. You look up at the judge's podium, and notice there are only six judges today. Ebon-Hawk, the Night-Prowler, is missing.

As you head to your seat, you suddenly twist your body and launch a right hook with your fist at Sharp-Strike, who blocks it by reflex. You pat him on the shoulder. "Excellent. You are ready."

You watch as he leaves to prepare for his match. You managed to get a glance of your stalker as you turned to execute the surprise punch. He was sitting down in the audience several rows behind you.

Do you:

A. Take a seat and watch the fight.
B. Excuse yourself and calmly walk outside.
C. Turn around and let the stalker know you've seen him. See how he reacts.

You sit down and proceed to watch the fight. Sharp-Strike's first opponent is a young hunter from clan Blue-Falcon. You watch as the two fighters begin to circle each other.

A figure takes a seat to your left. His face is covered by a black ceremonial mask. At first you think it's your stalker, but a quick glance tells you otherwise.

Sharp-Strike lands the first hit, but his opponent pushes back with a few dazzling strikes of his own.

"I need to speak to you," the figure intones.

You recognize the voice, and turn to him.

He lifts his mask briefly to confirm your suspicion. It's Ebon-Hawk, the judge.

"May we talk outside?" he asks.

Do you:

A. Stand up and walk outside.
B. Ask him what this is about.

You subtly gesture behind you, and pretend to check your wrist-monitor. You type "tail" onto the display and angle it slightly so it's visible to Ebon-Hawk for a split second.

He motions an acknowledgement, stands up and begins to walk away.

Do you:

You lean back in your seat and continue to watch the match. Sharp-Strike currently has the upper hand. His opponent is having considerable trouble deflecting his strikes.

You keep one eye to your left. Ebon-Claw has left the spectator area.

You wait for a few moments, but no one seems to follow him. You bring up a hand to scratch your chin. From the reflection in the tip of your retracted claws, you notice the tail is still sitting behind you.

The seat where your tail occupied is empty.

You continue walking casually.

Do you:

A. Head towards one of the changing rooms, round a corner, and launch an ambush. (DC: Medium)

You make your way around the ring of the arena turn into one of the many branching corridors, leading to practice areas and equipment rooms.

The corridor is deserted, on account of everyone being inside, watching the match. You lean against the wall and pretend to tap away at your wrist computer.

You see someone approach to your right. It's your tail. He casually strides down the hall towards you, while bowing his head and pretending to read a holo slate.

Do you:

You stow your wrist-computer and begin to walk towards the spectator area.

Though your stride is slow and casual, your muscles are tense, and your mind is focused. You watch his every move.

As you get closer, your tail puts away his holo-slate, reaches into his belt, and in one smooth motion, pulls out a compact cylindrical baton secreted into a side pouch and points one end towards you.

Prepared for just such a thing, you dart quickly to the left. You hear a muted scratch as several heavy projectiles bounce off the wall to your side.

The assassin, far from giving up, extends a short blade from his baton and throws the whole thing towards your face. Simultaneously, he reaches behind him and pulls out a compact plasma pistol.

You reflexively duck your head and feel a stinging breeze as the baton sails over your head. You dart forward and slam a fist into the assassin's gun hand. The impact knocks the plasma pistol out of his grip. He grunts, deflects your follow-up blow, and leaps into the air. Realizing you have but one chance, you dash forward with a sudden surge of strength. You pounce forward and reach out with your arm extended. You manage to sweep his ankle, tripping him, and forcing him to dive towards the floor.

Reacting fast, and with amazing agility. the assassin twists his torso in mid air and hits the ground sliding on his back. As the gap between you two widens, he reaches into his belt with two hands and throws a fistful of knives at you with one hand, a magnetic bola with the other hand, and two heavy darts launched from both his wrists. Fortunately, none of these throws are aimed; his intention is only to slow you down.

You grunt and charge forward through the rain of metal. You swipe the air and deflect the knives. You twist your head and avoid one of the darts. The second dart thumps into your forearm, but you ignore the pain.

Just as you close the distance, however, you feel a sudden tug at your leg, as the bola bites into your ankle. You trip, and are thrown against the ground.

The assassin leaps to his feet, gives you one last look, and runs off.

Just as he got to the end of the corridor, however, a figure dashes to block his path and slams a fist into his face. It's Ebon-Claw.

You watch as the Night-Prowler elder and judge grab the assassin by his neck, and slams his head against the wall. His skull thumps wetly against the hard surface. Once. Twice.

The assassin slides down the wall, slumped.

You quickly untie the bola from your ankles and rush over. The assassin seems lifeless.

You look at Ebon-Claw. "I didn't hit him that hard," he tells you.

There seems to be no movement. You point the tips of your claws against his heart with one hand while you slide a finger behind his neck with the other.

Suddenly, his eyes pop open and the body begins to spasm. You dash backwards by reflex. A few seconds later, the twitching stops, and you notice a stream of fluorescent blood mixed with dark green bile dribbling out of the assassin's mouth.

You also notice fizzing smoke emitting from the corpse's wrist computer. "Damn!" You hear Ebon-Claw curse, as he reaches down and yanks open the assassin's wrist computer. He probes carefully underneath the straps and extracts a small sphere. He raises it into the air.

"Poison capsule. Looks like the kind that's remotely activated."

After scooping up the assassin's gadgets.
We can ask around the market area with Ashen-Blade for identification of said weapons.

If we kill the body, how are we going to figure out who this guy is, and through figuring that out, find out who he was working for.
>>
>>26503850
Well he is a Night-Prowler and he thinks people are trying to frame him for murder.
>>
>>26503910
we search it first, we just dont want to leave it lying around

A.

>>B. Help him move the body for disposal.
You do as he says and help hold the corpse steady as Ebon-Claw gets to work with surgical precision. First, he dribbles just the right amount of acid on each of the dead assailant's fangs, and then expertly snaps the two chin bows in half. "So they can't identify him from the ashes," he tells you.

He then takes a rag and a second vial filled with a cloudy liquid from his belt. He dips the rag in the liquid and begins to wipe away the blood stains. The fluorescent blood evaporates with a hiss upon contact with the solution.

You realize Ebon-Claw has clearly done this many, many times before.

He glances to the assassin's weapons littered all over the floor.

He walks over and picks up the knives and the plasma pistol. "Need to get rid of these as well," he tells you.

Do you:

A. Allow him to dispose of the weapons.
B. Stop him, and point out that these are important pieces of evidence.
>>
>>26503976
Can we ask him why he's covering all of this up at least? I wanna know his reasoning right now.
>>
>>26503993
this
>>
>>26503993
Supporting this.
>>
>>26503993
Seconding this.
>>
>>26503993
You pick up the baton and examine it. "Why are you getting rid of this evidence? How are we going to find out who's behind this if you keep burning our clues?"

He turns to you. "Because every piece of evidence points to me," he tells you. "See that baton? That's from my armory. This pistol? Stolen a few days ago. Go check his wrist computer. I bet there's a bunch of falsified records with my name on them. Someone's trying to frame me, and if we don't get rid of this evidence, they're going to succeed."

Alright. That is satisfactory.

A.

Changing vote to A.

Old post was >>26504020, should be deleted in a few moments.
>>
>>26504043
Well that's a pretty damn good reason. I'll go with A.
>>
>>26504067
>>A. Allow him to dispose of the weapons.

You toss him the baton. "So who's trying to frame you?"

"I have a few suspects," he tells you, as he picks up the litter of knives. "I've made a few... enemies in high places." He motions you towards the body. The two of you lift him up.

"Come. Let's burn this thing first. I'll explain what I can."

You do as he says.

I like this guy, but I'm also very suspicious of him. Does that make me tribist?

>>26504140
I think the same.

>>26504124
Good. See you then.
>>
>>26504140
Summed up my feelings about him exactly. Hopefully he turns out to be a cool guy.
>>
>>26504140
I'm getting the same vibe, but I don't want to make a straight-up, baseless accusation to a Night-Prowler judge in their home turf.

We just play along for now, or until we can confirm his trustworthiness.
>>
We just need to keep in mind he is only helping us because it is to his benefit. He'd betray us without blinking an eye if he'd profit from it somehow.
>>
>>26504272
Still, he could prove useful. In fact, he could prove invaluable for our mission here.

We might need a second opinion regarding him. Quick-Shadow may have some thoughts about Ebon-Claw, but he's in prison.
I doubt Three-Claw can establish direct comms with him without alerting the entire Night-Prowler clan.
I dunno if Ashen-Blade or Burning-Scythe are incognito enough to arrange a visit themselves though.
