1. Vampires are much less active than normal humans.

How long each day are you awake? about 16 hours. If you work for a living, you can expect to be involved in some kind of activity for 8-12 hours of that.

Vampires are only "active" nocturnally. A schedule which limits their days to an average of 12 hours. Presuming that Vampires are still people, and want to have some time to relax and unwind, then we're looking at a day of "work" for them that is between 6-8 hours. 3/4ths that of a typical person. As a result, they will have a lower caloric consumption requirement.

A liter of human blood is roughly 425 calories (source: I just googled it), your typical person needs ~1800 calories per day... if we assume that vampires are down to 3/4ths of the daily calorie needs, we're down to 3.1 liters of blood to support the vampire lifestyle.

Now, an adult can stand to lose up to 40% of their blood before it is fatal, or roughly 2.24 liters. (Note: losing 40% is VERY BAD, but you can SURVIVE.) an you can lose up to 1.6 liters without any significant impairment.

Therefore, if we have responsible vampires taking ~1 liter from 3 victims a night, and we're sold.

In many versions of vampirism, it is the multiple feedings that puts you under the thrall of the vampire in question.

The resource I remember most vividly places the number at 3. Get fed on by a vampire on three separate occasions and you can forget about free will. But not only that, you're pretty much boned after the first feeding, since it makes you more susceptible to all their mental powers (hypnotism, illusions, suggestions, outright domination). Without outside interference, if the vampire gets you once, future attempts are easier, not harder.

So I'm game to say that you'd end up your vampire waifu's pet in short order after she conned you into this agreement.

Anne Rice started writing her vampire books in the 70's, White Wolf made V:tM in 1991.

The 1st edition rulebook is BLATANTLY an exercise in playing Anne Rice style vampires, with just enough of the serial numbers filed off so she couldn't sue. And with a conscious effort made to lift a few ideas from Lost Boys and a few other iconic vampire settings to disguise the influences a bit more.

They kind of tone it back in later books (which was a very good thing), but a lot of the "OH WHOA I AM A VAMPIRE ANGST ANGST! LOOK AT ME BEING ALL STYLISH AND TRAGIC!" came straight out of Rice.

Along with a heavy emphasis on "IT'S NOT GAY IF TWO MALE VAMPIRES MAKE OUT AND SHARE BLOOD, VAMPIRES DON'T HAVE SEX SO GENDER DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING AT ALL! HONEST! THEY TOTALLY DON'T RETAIN ANY SEXUAL MORES FROM THEIR MORTAL LIVES AT ALL! STOP BEING SO HUNG UP ON GENDER NORMS!"

I gotta say, as this makes scientific sense. In a way i think of it more as a matter of "craving" than actual "need" to drink blood. Kind of like when you get your favorite bag of potato chips. Yeah okay, i could survive eating only five or six chips. If i don't do a good job of controlling myself however, before I know it I've finished off 3/4 of the bag.

So yes, I could see it...but imagine trying to eat just one potato chip and have the bag just sit next to you and taunt you all day long...or have sex with you...
