You are Princess Lydia Tannhäuser Von Cygnus Gates the third, second in line of succession to the throne, duchess of Tannhäuser, and executive director of the Royal Rocketry Corps of Midland.

Your trip to the eastern islands has ended and you are flying back home for the summer solstice festival. The Malae Volant doesn't have enough fuel to get to Taurus island and back, but it does have enough range to go there to pick you up, refuel from the Falken, and return home. While you were there you met Orion's mother and sisters, and were able to negotiate the rights to construct a radio telescope on her island. All she wants in return is a piece of the moon. You can pay her later and build now, but she might get annoyed if you renege. She might also be a cannibal, you aren't brave enough to find out for sure. You are also bringing back with you Orion's little sister, Maia, who wishes to meet the other space travelers.

As you fly home you find yourself hard at work in the Volant's radio station transcribing wireless telegraphs and catching up with business. The budget for turn 12 has to be allocated, and you are expected to attend the solstice ball.

THE ROYAL HOUSEHOLD DEPARTMENT stop REQUESTS YOUR RSVP stop AND WISHES TO KNOW WHAT YOU WILL BE WEARING message ends.
>We will be wearing a formal gown
>We will be wearing our RRC dress uniform
>We will be wearing something trendy and modern
>We shall snub the royal household and not go to the solstice ball. (This may make people angry)

It is now turn 12, you have 56 RnD points to spend, you are out of luck. The summer solstice festival is this turn.

We shall wear the formal gown for the solstice ball.
>>
>>27144018
Either formal gown or something trendy or modern.

RRC dress uniform is too militaristic for a celebratory event.

Since we're out of luck, we shouldn't try to trigger any "Bad News" events that would occur from snubbing the invitation. Virtually all "Bad News" events require rolls to "Resolve or Be Punished," and we don't have the fallback of luck for that.
>>
>>27144018

Let's be a bit daring and go for trendy and modern.
>>
>We will be wearing a formal gown

Guess the wicked will have to party isntead of work.
>>
>>27144018
Do we still have available the gown that our parents gave us as a present? Unless that's the formal gown. We don't really have the spare RP for a trendy, fashionable dress.

>formal gown

You decide to stick to the basics and wear something formal rather that trying to look militaristic or trendy. You may be the director of the RRC, but you are royalty first and foremost.

A more important question is, who will be your escort to this event?

>We shall bring Orion because he is a surprisingly good dancer.
>We shall bring Klaus because he didn't get to come last year.
>We shall bring Sir Perro because it's always good to have your bodyguard close by.
>>
>>27144357
Yes that is the formal gown, and I have decided making you pay for a trendy dress is a dumb mechanic so I'm dropping it for now.

You do still have to allocate some of your RnD points to RRC morale however.
>>
>>27144387

Bring Orion. Let's dazzle with dance.
>>
>>27144387
God Mother, must our escort be male?

Are we not still at the age where our elders insist we be chaperoned around a member of the opposite gender?
>>
>>27144387
>>We shall bring Sir Perro because it's always good to have your bodyguard close by.
Time to repay him a little.
>>
>>27144387
>>We shall bring Klaus because he didn't get to come last year.

Yes rest for the wicked.
>>
>>27144487

Second this.
>>
>>27144429
That's the thing. You are getting to the age when your elders will start being very annoying on the topic of marriage. Even if you came with a woman, you will no doubt be assaulted with proposals at this event.

2 votes for Klaus,
1 vote for Orion,
1 Vote for Perro,

Lastly, there is the question of Maia, who is currently staring out the window as if in a trace, having never flown on an airplane before.

>We shall dress her in our old pink frilly dress and bring her with us.
>We shall give her an RRC uniform and bring her with us.
>It's probably a bad idea to bring her to the Ball.
>>
>>27144534

Let's go with Klaus.

And let's give Maia the uniform.
>>
>>27144534
>We shall bring Klaus
>We shall dress Maia in our old pink frilly dress and bring her with us

There. Three people together means we are here for entertainment, and are not contemplating any serious engagement in the future from the current company.
>>
>>27144534
>It's probably a bad idea to bring her to the Ball.
We're already causing enough problems as it is.
>>
>>27144534

Klaus and dress!
>>
>>27144534
>>We shall dress her in our old pink frilly dress and bring her with us.

Because adorable.
>>
Turn 12 Budget:
6RP RRC Solstice Party
36RP Seraphim 8/10
5RP Taurus Island Radio-Telescope
9RP Lunar Buggy 10/15
>>
>>27144387

As much as we'd like to bring Orion (yay!) we should bring Klaus.... if he wants. Let's keep the one human male who knows how to build a nuclear weapon happy, 'kay?
>>
>>27144670

Second this.
>>
Since you are too old to be wearing that frilly dress, you give it to Maia and formally extend an invitation to Maia. Orion will escort her, and you shall go with Klaus.

>>27144720
Building things on Taurus island will cost twice as much (this might go down in the future) A fully functioning radio telescope will cost 10 points. An extra large radio telescope could also be built for 20 points, and upgraded as if it were a size 10 object.
>>
>>27144785
Will this extra-large telescope start at 5/10 Reliability?
What are its advantages over a regular sized radio-telescope.
>>
>>27144534
I think it is high time to have a NEW frilly dress that DOES NOT make us look so childish. we should not wear it any more if we can. besides, we had it when we were 16, we sincely dought that we can even fit into it any more.
>>

Dresses are traditonaly altered by a tailor so they fit even when the wearer changes size. What? did you think clothes were purchased in a store or something?

>>27144822
It would start at 5/10, but it would be much more powerful, able to receive messages across interplanetary or even interstellar distances.

>>27144856
I am considering making one.
>>
>>27144905

We'll have to sooner or later -- might as well do it sooner. Use local material as much as possible. Maybe someday people'll think it's a temple.
>>
>>27144895
Southerners do not celibate the solstice due to there proximity to the equator (you also had to explain the concept of a solstice twice, first to Orion last year and then to Maia just recently). But you may invite Ms Kenaway if you desire.
>>
>>27144905
we were not aware it was THAT style. pardons, my mind presumed about the way dresses are made these days in real life. anyway, it would behoove us to have a tailor make a new set of cloths for us for everyday wear that is offesive to none.

but yes, please, if it does not put undue costs or difficulty on you to set up a twitter account. all the huge and great quests threads have them and i thought your quest should have one was well.
>>
>>27144905
We'll construct the larger Radio-Telescope.
We won't have it really ready until after the Seraphim is complete, however.

Budget:
20RP Build Taurus Island Super-Telescope 5/10
18RP Seraphim 7/10
6RP RRC Solstice Party
10RP Taurus Island Super-Telescope 6/10
2RP Lunar Buggy 8/10
>>
>>27145031
I think it might be the case that things built on Taurus are still *improved* at their usual cost, it's just the initial construction that's more expensive, yes? In which case the telescope is improved to 6/11, not 6/10. Other than that, supporting this budget.
>>
>>27145068
No, it get's upgraded as a Mass 10 item.

>>27144785
>An extra large radio telescope could also be built for 20 points, and upgraded as if it were a size 10 object.
>>
>>27144983
yes, it would be a good thing to see Ms Kenaway again. just talking to her is.. not enough it seems. I am sure we miss her and the small talk we use to make. Also we seroiusly need to rethink about this foolish space race bet. we have a bigger problem now.

if we can talk to Ms.Kenaway to put this needless race aside and WORK TOGETHER like responisable adults. it will help ease the chance to make political alliance while the west is ready to blow up. (also we can pool our RP points and infrastrucals together so we can do some REAL work and break though! also, we should see if we can bring Ms. Kenaway into the fold as we are)
>>
>>27145103
Ah, my apologies. Supporting >>27145031 in full, then.
>>
>>27145068
second
>>
>>27145112

Bad idea. A race makes it a point of national pride to make sure we're funded correctly.

(IRL, Nixon started cutting NASA's budget basically while Armstrong and Aldrin were on lunar EVA)
>>
>>27145068
The large telescope is a mass 10 item, it's construction just costs 20 points because of the remoteness.

The Malae Violante lands in the bay outside castle gates and you change into a formal gown while the servants struggle to make Maia look proper in your old dress. Eventually Klaus arrives in a Motorcar. He is dressed in an almost unfashionable tweed jacket and his face seems to be redder than normal, you don't think he expected to be invited. Showing up with a younger man will undoubtedly make you seem more mature by comparison.

Before you leave you sign off on the budget and MVAC it over to Tannhauser island. You imagine the Radio will also need an MVAC core (which will cost 6 points to build and ship over there) but that can come later.

bad idea? better to make it a draw than losing it. this is a much bigger deal than some over blown E-Peen bragging show. besides, if we can have the southern nation become closer with our nation in a peaceful join project. it will bring some cool water on this over heating politcal situation our nation is facing with the west. WE CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH THE SOUTH'S BUDGET AND BUILD RATE! besides, we need to bring her into the x-com project! sooner the better. the aliens are becoming more active. the time is against us. we need her help.
>>
>>27145294
conferm the budget
>>
>>27145324
>WE CAN NOT KEEP UP WITH THE SOUTH'S BUDGET AND BUILD RATE!
Yes we can.
We actually have exceeded their Budget now.
And our space program is farther along, and will be able to do more (by having a larger lander) than her program.

She has to divert part of her resources to placating Congress; we can, and have, and will, devote all of our resources to the Seraphim, Titan, Hecate, and Trailblazer.
>>
>>27145378

This.

Once we have to make All The Things public, we bring them in. Making very sure that we have the leadership position by virtue of being THE BEST AT SPACE.
>>
>>27145324
>if we can have the southern nation become closer with our nation in a peaceful join project. it will bring some cool water on this over heating politcal situation our nation is facing with the west
Actually, how do you figure?
The Suthland Confederation is looking on the Western Isle's insurrection with interest, but they're not providing support.
The West is rebelling all on their own. What Suthlanders think of it won't concern the West.

Especially since the South doesn't have nuclear weapons that could be used to assure the West's independence.
>>
As you ride in the Motorcar Klaus just sort of sits there opposite you looking very shy. Eventually however he manages to speak up. "h-Haf you heard that herr Piccolo vill be at the ball? I hear his company just merged vith Bruscoloni vireless." He says after finally mustering the courage to speak to you.

>>27145193
That was just Nixon being Nixon though. Kennedy was at one point considering a joint US Soviet lunar mission which would have saved both countries a lot of money and softened the cold war. Kennedy's assassination of course ended that plan, and the failure of the N1 moon rocket gave the space race to the Americans.
>>
>>27145378
imagien what we could achieve if we were able to unify our budgets? it's really quite a jump up for what we can do. also, if we can make a unifed show of strength between north and south and might prevent a all out war with the west. if we go to war, our budget will get cut to fund the war.
>>
>>27145436
>>27145378
To be correct, though, it's not the budget or the build rate of the South that's worrying; it's that they are willing to risk a lot on their launches. They will probably launch as soon as their launch vehicle is at 10/15, while we wait for 17/19.
And they have the Luck points to chance it, while we don't.
>>
>>27145465
Kennedy bungled the cuban crisis, but then again, he could have also ended the cold war early and peacefully.
.....
QM, we are looking at you. you better not have the King or the first prince assasinated now.
>>
>>27145503
well, you do have a point there....we can't seem to get luck points so easy.
>>
>>27145503
(OOC but NPCs don't spend luck points, the SSC's manned capsule does however have an escape tower which your capsules do not. I'd honestly suggest you put more points into boom than fail, Launching rockets at 15/20 rather than waiting for 19/20)

Anyways Klaus asked you a question.
>>
>>27145465
>to Klaus
"Why no, We had not. Will this new company attempt to oust Mr. Radio from atop his throne?"

>>27145473
If we unify our space programs, who will remain in control of the program? Will we go with their rocket designs or ours? You expect Kenaway to simply hand over her budget to us?
It will have to be a compromise, and that means losing control over the program at this critical juncture.
And that's not including the logistical problems of getting two such agencies to work together at such a scale.
>>
>>27145589
....
again, you have a point. we can not afford to lose control right now. But can we at least bring her into the x-com project conspericy? she is sure to stumble onto the truth soon on her own if we don't bring her in and get her to keep quiet about it till we are all good and read to release the truth to the world.

"That's the thing your highness, why would an aerospace company merge vith a radio one, and in this political situation. I think they vish to build satellites of there own." Klaus says as the motorcar approaches Stonefield.

House Cygnus seems to be holding these celebrations here more often, you seem to remember they used to mostly take place in the castle. Perhaps mother wishes to show off the telescope? Or maybe the astrological society wants to remind the nobility of the importance of the stars. At any rate the historical society isn't happy about it.
>>
>>27145683
>But can we at least bring her into the x-com project conspericy?
Our Royal Promise was given that the secret of the Foe Stars would remain so. Can we guarantee Kenaway's discretion?
>>
>>27145578
an aside question God Mother, we recently learned the myth of the moon princess from the east islanders. but does anyone know of the Nordhiem's take on the same myth? do they have any known (or not commonly known) evidence to surport it?
>>
>>27145699
>I think they vish to build satellites of there own.
"That is a worrying prospect, Klaus. Satellites, and the ability to launch them, can be quickly made into weapons, and with the West rebelling, then the timing is quite foreboding. We shall have to speak with some of the military personnel about this new development; perhaps someone from the Intelligence Ministry will be here so that the subject may be discussed. Thank you, Klaus, for bringing it to our attention."
>>
>>27145725

Something to ask Klaus since we're here.
>>
>>27145718
then we should bring the star council about her and her postion of learning the secret soon. .... she is our childhood friend. ... i would like to think we can trust her. i would rather she'll be on our side than throw a wrench (inadvertily) into our plans.

You had met her a few times before you became the RRC director, she went to school in midland. But you and Amelia were tutored by Minerva in the castle and never went to a public university.

He says as you exit the automobile to the flash of cameras. You and Klaus seem to be handling it alright, but as Orion and Maia step out of the next car, Maia seems to be stunned by the bright flashing lights.

>Unbelievable, this is no way to treat foreign dignitaries we shall have the guards shoo the Paparazzi away.

We should have briefed Orion and Maia about this; the Household Department is probably in overdrive trying to contain the situation.

Godmother, are we the most hated Royal by the Household Department for all of the extra work and crises we've put them through over the years?
>>
>>27146015

The Royal Household Department does not complain about such things.

You take Maia's hand and remind Orion that bashing the photographer's skulls in might be a bad idea. The paparazzi gets a few pictures of you and Klaus leading the foreign princess into the ball, and Maia manages to regain her courage.

Once you make it past the crowds things become much less hectic. What shall you do now?

>We shall talk with Orion and Maia and make sure everything is alright.
>We shall go find out mother and father and go talk with them.
>We shall go and talk to Ferrarin Piccolo Jr and ask him about his future plans.

(sigh) it seems someone is feeding a troll here.

but still

>We will talk to Ms Kenaway and see what she knows about Mr Piccolo
this seems the best way to go.
we should hint to the the guards to keep an eye on them. noteably if they have been drinking much. we do NOT need a drunken row happening here.

>>27147380
this seems like a good thing. wow.
>>
>>27147450
To be fair, you are fairly sure he's just jealous of Harker for beating him to breaking the sound barrier.

At any rate you decide to put it aside and talk to Ms Kenaway instead. "Tank you for inviting me You Highness." She says as she gives you a brief but unexpected hug. "How ah things today?"

>We shall make smalltalk.
>We shall talk about our space programs.
>We shall ask about Mr Piccolo.
>>
>>27147375
The face that the word "rival" is being used here should really be a hint.

>We will talk to Ms Kenaway and see what she knows about Mr Piccolo
>>
>>27147375
(i am sorry God Mother, i need to step out for an hour or two, i hope you'll still be running this when i return)
>>
>>27147646
a little bit of this...
>We shall make smalltalk.
then
>We shall ask about Mr Piccolo.
then when we get what we need to know.
>We shall talk about our space programs.
>>
>>27147661
(We just broke 100 replies and it's only been 3 hours, you'll be fine)
>>
>>27147646
>We shall ask about Mr Piccolo.
Mention that he appears to be poised to enter space as well, and that we may need to watch him in case there are industrial accidents.
>>
>>27147783
You exchange pleasantries with Ms Kenaway while Klaus chats with Mr Advocar in Suthans. When the topic of Mr Piccolo comes up however she seems to be caught off guard. "W-who told you about that? The deal was supposed to stay secret until negotiations were finished." She says. Uh oh.

>We shall insist that we don't know anything about that and just wanted to know what she thought about Piccolo aerospace merging with Bruscoloni Wireless.
>We shall press this topic and ask her what she means about a secret deal.
>>
>>27148128
"No one did, but you've confirmed that there is a secret deal. So, what does it entail?"

Don't think there's a need to ask how well she can keep a secret; this proves she can't.
>>
>>27148128
>"W-who told you about that?"
"You did, just now."
Press, press, press. This is important, and it looks like Jakisan is going to spill the beans. They're getting private industry to manufacture their parts for us? Or the SSC is putting satellites into space for the use of individual corporations?
>>
>>27148222
>>We shall press this topic and ask her what she means about a secret deal.

We should smile, say something to the tune of "of course, silly me" and let them sweat.
>>
>>27148128
"We were in the process of negotiating a deal to purchase a supply of Anga VIII rockets to put a communications satellite network into orbit." A voice says from behind you. "Really Ms Kenaway is it that unbelievable that people would be asking questions about me after making such a large acquisition." The voice belongs to Ferrarin Piccolo Jr, who is now standing behind you. "Good evening your highness. I apologize for my associate's unprofessional conduct. I had been hoping to make a more formal announcement later."
>>
>>27148350
"Not a problem, Mr. Piccolo. We hope that you would inform both the SSC and the RRC about your plans for any launches you make, so that our orbital paths of satellites do not cross."
>>
>>27148350
"That's quite all right, Mr Piccolo. We are somewhat curious, however - how were you planning to launch the rockets you're purchasing? Are you also acquiring some of the SSC's engineers and one of their launch sites, or are you simply going to rent such facilities as necessary?"

This is why private corporations didn't have space flight for quite a long time - a Saturn V style rocket doesn't just require a big metal tube stuffed with dangerous chemicals, it also requires a massive amount of infrastructure. Generally you'd buy space on a government rocket, you wouldn't just outright buy the rockets...
>>
>>27148751
Could he be getting the rockets to reverse-engineer them?
>>
>>27148777
Even if he reverse-engineers them he still needs an entire launch complex, a C&C, engineers, technicians, radar tracking... He's rich, but I doubt he's that rich. 1950s-1960s era tech, it's just not feasible for a private corporation to build their own entire space infrastructure.
>>
>>27148589
>>27148751
Mr Piccolo chuckles sarcastically. "Rest assured my staff are fully prepared to handle rockets. And the Anga VIII has the most successful track record of any rocket. As you know the art of alchemy was invented in the west and We plan on bringing the benefits of space technology to everyone, not just the military elite." He says quite arrogantly.
>>
>>27148923

I suppose that putting a 20mm flak cannon on a satellite is out of the question?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Almaz#Defense_measures
>>
>>27148923

"The military elite, you say. We don't think you quite understand what the RCC is for. True, we are a military organization, but what we aim for is not for something as silly as wielding a bigg stick.

Mister Piccolo, we have much greater objectives, objectives which will surely beneffit all of humanity. While only a select few can go to space, and we cannot share some of our knowledge just yet, ours is not a selfish goal.

Give us time, and you shall understand what we mean."
>>
>>27149006
A flack canon would be a mass 1 item. It would contain a single burst of ammo. Extra ammo would be 1 mass for every 2 bursts. On a successful hit
You think you have also heard Hawtry talking about a "Rocket Pistol"
Of course your organization is one of peaceful exploration, right?

It is now time for a dance, who shall be your partner?

>We shall dance with Klaus because he is our date.
>We shall dance with Orion because he's really good at it.
>We shall ask Piccolo if he will dance with us.
>We shall ask Ms Kenaway if we can dance with her Fiance.
>>
>>27148923
"Oh, we are confident that you can prepare and launch the Anga VIII. We are merely concerned that perhaps orbital tracks are becoming crowded, and that they may become so in the future.
"And the RRC has always prided itself on civilian applications for its technology. Or is this you being protective of your radio interests against Mr. Radio?"
>>
>>27149885
>We shall dance with Klaus because he is our date.
There is no good choice here, and Klaus is the least bad choice.
>>
>>27149885
>We shall dance with Klaus because he is our date.

There is only one good choice and one useful choice here, and Klaus is the good one. Piccolo could be useful, if we managed to dissuade him from his current deal and seduce him to our side.
>>
>>27149885
>We shall dance with Klaus because he is our date.

We would bet on Orion teaching his sister how to dance here. but we should give Ms (soon to be Mrs) Kenaway and her Fiance the floor was well. they are to be married soon anyway.
>>
>>27149885
a common flack cannon in space? BAH! we should create a RAIL GUN! less recoil and we could get more use out of it. (semi-auto, not full auto)
>>
Klaus isn't nearly as good a dancer as Orion was, but you manage to lead him through the steps well enough. After all, you've been raised to do this.

"T-that vas good detective work your highness." Klaus complements you as you waltz while the sun sets between the solstice stones. "Are you vorried about this Ms Kenaway vill be getting more funding from this deal." He tells you.

>We will no doubt have to work harder to keep up then.
>We have nothing to fear, the SSC's obstacles right now are political not financial.
>We are more worried about what the west having there own rockets. Mr Piccolo's intentions might not be as noble as they sound.
>>
>>27150279
>We are more worried about what the west having there own rockets. Mr Piccolo's intentions might not be as noble as they sound.
>>

>We are more worried about what the west having there own rockets. Mr Piccolo's intentions might not be as noble as they sound.

do keep any eye out about who is dancing with whom and where Mother and Farther is.
.....
for that matter, just WHERE is our older AND younger Brother at anyway? i do not think we have seen them all night.
>>
>>27150250
Nobody in the RRC has the expertise to create a railgun (Yet) but as an OOC note.
Rail guns have plenty of recoil and more firing stress. Not only will the gun be pushed backwards as the projectile is launched forwards, but the magnetic fields will also trying to tear the rails apart.
Bottom line, you can't get around newton's laws. If you push a projectile forward, and equal and opposite force will be pushing back. Recoil-less rifles do exist, but that's just a fancy word for rocket launcher.
You could fluff the weapon as a Recoilless cannon but it would work the same way mechanically. The system does not have enough granularity to make a meaningful diffrence between one big shot or a burst of small ones. In the case of the flack canon, the mass of the gun and it's ammo would also include a small amount of RCS for countering the recoil.

>>27150396
Younger brother is in bed, Older brother is on the Staberinde, currently cruising in the western sea.
>>
>>27150452
well instead of a rail gun, we could work on making a weapon grade LASER instead.
...
wait, just how old is our little brother anyway? are they grooming him to play a part in the nation as we are? a odd idea just hit me. could our younger brother be trained to be an astronaught as well? hum...
>>
>>27150452
The solution is simple. Two railguns, firing in precisely opposite directions simultaneously. If you want to shoot at a target, one gun will fire at it, the other directly away.
>>
>>27150596
You have no idea what a laser is. As for your younger brother, he is turning 11 soon. Give him 5 more years, then he can join the navy or air force as a pilot, and if he demonstrates talent he could join the Void Knight Corps.

>>27150758
No comment.

>We are more worried about what the west having there own rockets. Mr Piccolo's intentions might not be as noble as they sound.
"Vat do you mean your highness? Do you think he vishes to use them in a var for independence?"
>>
>>27150828
indeed, that might be one reason. But obvously we can't conferm that just yet.
>>
>>27150828
"He could, of course, compete more readily with Mr. Radio and take control of the airwaves.
"And while it is mere speculation, the RRC's space program developed from our missile program. Returning to its weaponized roots is quite possible. And Mr. Piccolo does appear to wish for independence for the West."
>>
>>27150828
i hope we can get those global photos can be made a much more accurate than before. we could see where their launch sights could be.
>>
>>27150828

"It is a possibility. One which force us to develop military devices as countermeasures."
>>
>>27151494
we could lose backing that way. or maybe be forced to work on weapons as well as our space mission. we won't have no where near enough funding to do both well then. i dought they would give us more funds to do both.
>>
>>27151494

"Do you really think that your highness?" Klaus asks. "I'm sure they can't make anything that might compare vith radio reactive veapons."
Eventually the time comes to switch partners for the second dance, who shall you dance with now?

>We shall dance with Orion because he's really good at it.
>We shall ask Piccolo if he will dance with us.
>We shall ask Ms Kenaway if we can dance with her Fiance.
>We shall dance with Harker because we wish to talk to him about Piccolo
>>
>>27151877
>We shall dance with Harker because we wish to talk to him about Piccolo
We must ask Harker if Piccolo would fight for Western Independence, and if his company would be capable of developing weapons.
>>
>>27151877
>We shall dance with Harker because we wish to talk to him about Piccolo

I really wish we could dance with father for once. we hardly get to see him (or pass on the hint to summon a meeting of the star counsial about bring in Ms Kenaway)
>>
>>27151877
>>We shall ask Piccolo if he will dance with us.

Let the business/politics games begin.
>>
>>27152088
Your father does not enjoy dancing.

You dance with Sir Harker, with Dame Cobham taking Klaus. He's an average dancer, which is kind of disappointing considering that everything else about him is larger than life. What would be acceptable for anybody else feels woefully mediocre when the Crimson Count does it.

You mention the Merger between the two companies and he gives his own opinion. "He's doing what I'd be doing if you hadn't put a leash on me." He says. "I think, It's good that we have more people working in space. Competition keeps us sharp, where would you be if you didn't have Jakisan to push you along. Actualy selling him rockets makes sense for her too, I hear they've been having trouble lately. While you were away they were testing the Anga fourteen. Well it crashed as new rockets tend to, but it was also caring the supplies for the station. They've had to evacuate it again, and it might be a while before they can get people back up there. They have to chose between the station and the moon."
>>
>>27152449
"oh really now? i was not aware of that crash. here i was afraid we were losing the funding race to the moon. But i am still worried he would, or would be forced to weaponize those rockets."

he might not be able to make a nuke, but her could make a huge dirty bomb. that would be very bad.
>>
>>27152449
"Ah yes, however, Mr. Piccolo has made it quite obvious what he thinks of Midland and of the rebellion in the West. We still feel that there is the danger that the technology could be returned to its weaponry roots."
>>
>>27152449
"think they would send spies into our base to steal plans?"
>>

"Must you always jump to such a boring conclusion your highness." Harker says with a mock yawn. "Maybe it's time for the westerners to decide there own fate. The only thing we can be sure of is that the world is changing, our job is more important than lines on a map. From up in space I can't see any borders or kings, just a blue marble floating in a sea of stars."

Eventually the dance ends. You have time to talk to one more person before you leave.

>We shall talk with Klaus once more.
>We shall talk with Ms Kenaway, once more.
>We shall talk with Mr Piccolo, once more.
>We shall talk with our parents.
>>
>>27153174
>We shall talk with our parents.
we NEED to talk to them about Ms Kenaway and the eneviable truth she will stumble on. we have to bring her into the fold.
>>
>>27153174
>We shall talk with our parents.
We need to speak with them about the West.
>>
You see General Clay talking with your father with your mother standing off to the side. As you approach she steps forward to greet you and Klaus. "Welcome home Lydia!" She says while giving you a hug. "And this must be Klaus? You haven't forgotten about Orion so soon have you?" She jokes as she examines the terrified boy standing next to you. Being this close to the king, queen, and supreme military commander must be as intimidating for him as standing before Orion's mother was for you.

>Thank you mother, we wished to speak with father.
>Thank you mother, we wish to tell you all about the eastern islands.
>Thank you mother, Klaus has been very important for our organization.
>>
>>27153545
>OTHER!
>thank you mother, klaus has been very important for out organization, but i really wish to speak with both you and father about what we found in our trip to the eastern islands.
(drop hints we need a TALK)
>>
>>27153545
>Thank you, Mother. We wished to speak with you and Father about our trip to the Eastern Isles and to Suthland.
>>
>>27154156
>>27153667
"Thank you general, we shall continue this conversation at another time." Your father brushes Clay aside and turns to greet you. "Good evening daughter." He says as Clay leaves. "I trust your journey to the eastern islands was fulfilling?"
>>
>>27154313
"Yes, Father. We have secured access to build a super-telescope in the Eastern Isles for unprecedented range of transmitting and receiving radio communications. The price was quite favorable; a moon rock, which we expect to return with several when our Void Knights walk across the surface of the Moon.
"However, there were certain concerns we have about others who have the same void capabilities as us."
Are we secure? Surely we have been trained to signal when a secure room or matters of national security need to be discussed.
>>
>>27154435
we must stress to both of our parents that the secret on the other side of the moon might be leaked out soon if we don't get Ms Kenaway and her void program into your fold. she too can send a image recon probe to orbit the moon" this MUST be told to them in DAMN secured location.
>>
Father listens to your words quietly. "I see you have inherited your mother's love for secrets daughter. Does your orginization not have the capacity for secure communications? I was told that your ManyVac was capable of perfect cryptography?" He says as he adjusts his glasses. "Trying to hide something out of your reach is a fools game daughter, if you wish to bring the southern girl into your circle, it would be wise to do so sooner rather than later."

Your mother simply smiles and adds on. "I'm sure something will be worked out Lydia." She says as she winks. As this goes on, Klaus seems to be very confused as to what you are talking about and just sort of stands there messing with his thumbs.
>>
>>27154673
"We are slightly concerned that the West has acquired rockets. They say it is purely for civilian endeavors, but they rejected our initial offers of our satellite network. How bad is the unrest in the West?"
>>
>>27154673
"father, (wisper to him) yes they are perfect crypted, but someone has to undo the code on the other end. the fewer the people to know about it, the better. (normal voice) i would wish to bring her in tonight if we can. the sooner the better indeed. time might well be ageinst us i fear."
>>
>>27154958
"It's bad enough to keep parasites like Clay important." Your father says in a rare candid remark. It's very rare to hear him speak his mind like this. "Now if you excuse me, I shall be off to bed, I'm sure your mother will enjoy staying up to look at the stars. Does the boy also enjoy astrology?" He asks.

You notice the crowd is getting thinner as most of the people are going home.
>>
>>27155216
"He is a student is astrology, though high-energy reactions and alchemy are his true field of interest. Good night, Father."

Now we must speak with Mother; if we work closely with Kenaway, there is the risk of Piccolo getting wind of what is on the far side of the Moon.
>>
>>27155216
i am sure Klaus is intrested in many things. stars among them....
>>
>>27155394
if we can get kenaway bound like us, she'll keep it quiet.
>>
>>27155437
I don't know. Look how easily we were able to get her to spill the info about the SSC-Piccolo deal.
Yes, we have to bring her in because its inevitable that she will learn about the City, but I think she's going to end up leaking the information.

I wish I could start with the council meeting now, but it's late.

SPQ will continue next Tuesday, I might start even earlier than normal.
