Previously on Gundam X Quest:
>Dave educates Garrod and Tiffa on the subject of dolphins, possibly scarring them for life in the process.
>Dave has a Newtype moment with a dolphin, after blowing up lots of dolphin brains.
>We continue to say "FUCK YOU" to canon, resulting in the survival of Jamil Neate's childhood crush, instructor, and superior officer, Lucille Lilliant.

When we last left our intrepid junk dealer, he had just managed to successfully activate the Flash System on his own and assert his control over the Freeden's contingency of six GX Bits.

>It is now easier to use the Flash System. The DC to activate it is slightly lower.

Of course, the acquisition of the GX Bits have not gone unnoticed, as the Freeden is now facing the New UNE Forces at sea. It's the Freeden's Gundams versus their thirty Daughtress Flyers and their massive carrier... Who will emerge victorious?
>>
"... we request that you hand over those GX Bits. Should you fail to comply, we are authorized to use deadly force. This is your last warning."

Shit.

Shit shit SHIT this was bad. The New UNE was practically on top of the Freeden, and that Carrier looked to be packing some serious firepower.

Okay... there were a few ways this could go; one, you could surrender the six G-Bits currently under your control and come out of this unscathed, but that would mean bolstering the firepower of these bastards. You could also take a stand and fight; these were Daughtresses you were dealing with here, after all... but that would be putting everyone on board at risk...

There was also two very familiar presences on board that monstrous cruiser... perhaps if you focused, you could communicate with them and form some kind of plan, even if they couldn't do the same.

What will you do?
>The Freeden's severely outnumbered; give them what they want and hopefully everyone will be spared...
>If they want the G-Bits, they'll just have to take them like any other Vulture! (There is one large carrier and 30 Daughtress Flyers. Roll 7d20+2 to attack, and please specify what you are attacking and how. DC is 14. The first number out of the rolls is David's, and the rest are for the G-Bits.)

I'll keep that in mind...

---

You take a deep breath, and try to reach out to those presences... the two Frost brothers...

It's difficult, perhaps because you were a genuine Newtype trying to communicate with... unique cases, but you had to try nonetheless.

Finnaly, you feel some sort of connection, then you begin to "speak".

>"Shagia... Olba... are you there? It's me, Dave... I need your help here... the Freeden won't last long against all of these mobile suits. I don't know if you can hear me or not, but if you can... I know the frequency for a private radio channel; one we can use to discuss some sort of plan... It's..."

Once you tell the brothers the frequency, your prayers are answered as they're both patched through.

"Alright Mister West... what do you have in mind?" inquires Olba, sitting in the cockpit of his Virsago.

"We don't have much time, but... are you two still inside of that carrier?" you ask, chewing on your lower lip.

"You mean the Doritea?" replies Olba. "We are the only ones yet to sortie, but why do you ask?"

"Good." you say, smirking. "Then I want you to cause as much havoc as you can inside of there. Blow the ship up if you can as well; without that thing on the playing field, their forces will likely be thrown into disarray, making them easy pickings for the Freeden's pilots."

Shagia and Olba are hesitant, to go through with the idea, but you offer the two of them what you hope is a reassuring smile.

"Remember what Jamil said? If worst came to worst, then we'd do whatever we could to protect you two." you say. "That's a promise, and I'm not one to go back on my word."

"Roger that, Sandshark. Make sure to buy as much time as you can; keep their forces occupied while my brother and I... redecorate." replied Olba, smiling as he and Olba cut the feed.

(Cont'd.)
>>
You blink, and reassess your surroundings; apparently, your silence, and Jamil's refusal to comply while you were busy communicating with the Frost brothers had forced the New UNE's hand, and now the Daughtress Flyers were divebombing the Freeden, with the whole crew on defense.

>Reinforcements: Garrod (Divider), Witz (Airmaster), Roybea (Leopard - standard loadout), Kai (Belphegor)

Alright, time for one hell of a distraction...

Have Witz corral as many Daughtresses as he can while Roybea goes buckwild on them with his machine gun and missiles.

Hmm... things aren't looking good for Dave right about now...

How about I offer you folks a deal... You can sacrifice one of the... four GX Bits that got a critical success in exchange for David's continued survival.

As a drawback, the sacrificed GX Bit will be so fucking wrecked, repairs will be impossible, and you will be down one GX Bit until you find more, or buy a new one.

>GREAT SUCCESS: GX Bit x 4
>Success: Witz, Kai
>Near-Miss: Garrod, Roybea
>Critical Failure: You

You direct the GX Bits to fan out and suppress the Daughtress Flyers, firing at them as best as you could while maintaining control over the Bit Mobile Suits. Garrod and Roybea were thankfully holding their own, though neither of them had any luck taking down any Mobile Suits. Witz on the other hand, managed to shoot down two enemy mobile suits, and Kai managed to vaporize three Daughtresses that got caught in the path of the Sonic Smasher Cannon.

You curse as you realize that one of the Daughtress Flyers had managed to get in close, a beam saber at the ready. Having neglected to unsheathe the Buster Sheath Rifle, or a beam saber, you were somewhat defenseless, but you weren't going to go down like some chump! You regretted having to do this, and possibly face Kid's wrath later, but better one G-Bit got destroyed than let it end up in their clutches. You pull back as you direct the closest GX Bit to collide with the lone Daughtress Flyer, the collision deotnating them both rather spectacularly.

The five others manage to successfully shoot down one Daughtress each, leaving the enemy with only 2/3rds of their forces left.

>GX Bits: 6 --> 5

>The Carrier is still intact, and there are 20 Daughtress Flyers left.

Cursing as you evade a shot from one of the Daughtress' beam rifles, you try to hail Shagia and Olba again.

"Any time now, you two!" you grind out between clenched teeth.

"Do not worry, Mr. West. The carrier will no longer be an issue. Please, wait a moment, then we'll rendezvous with your forces." replied Shagia coolly, a confident smile upon his face.

(Cont'd.)
>>
"What are you--" you begin, only to be cut off as a deafening explosion erupts from the Doritea, both the Virsago and Ashtaron emerging from what was left of its hangars, watching as the massive carrier slowly began to rise upwards. It was like watching the end of Titanic, except with a military vessel.

>Success: You, GX Bit x 4, Garrod, Witz
>Near Miss: GX Bit x 1, Roybea
>Failure: Kai, Shagia, Olba

You and the others opt to corral as many of the Daughtress Flyers together and pick them off while they were grouped together. You and about four out of five of the GX bits were successful in doing so, and shooting down one MS each in the process of corralling the lot of them, whereas, there was at least one Daughtress that managed to avoid getting hit by one of your fifth GX Bit. Roybea, being limited to acting as a Luna Titanium plated weapons platform on the Freeden's loading dock, had trouble pinning down the rather agile, if dated mobile suits. A large majority of the enemy mobile suits were focusing their fire on the Frost brothers, leaving them little to no opportunities for a counterattack.

Kai had trouble setting up the Sonic Smasher Cannon, as the remaining Daughtress pilots hhad wised up to his tricks now; they made sure to keep the young Newtype on his toes. In comparison, Garrod had little trouble fighting back, shooting down at least two Daughtress Flyers in the process of corralling them. Witz, being the fastest airborne Mobile Suit out of everyone's mobile suits, had little trouble flying circles around the lower-end Daughtresses, shooting down one of the pilots that dared to meet the ace pilot head-on.

>Enemy MS: 20 --> 12

With their forces rapidly dwindling, you had a few more options here; you could keep hammering at them until not a single MS was in the sky, or you could tell them to pack up and get the fuck out of your way.Of course, with the sun setting, there was certainly a third option to consider...

"Attention New UNE Forces!" you say over a public radio channel, attempting to sound as professional as possible.

"With the destruction of over half of your forces, and your carrier sinking, I suggest that you retreat. Should your forces elect to continue pursuing us, I cannot promise that your safety will be guaranteed the next time our paths cross, is that understood?"

There is a general murmuring over the radio before a single voice is heard.

"This is Colonel Amzat , commanding officer of the New UNE Military Vessel known as the Doritea... or rather, the commanding officer aboard one of the now sinking vessel's lifeboats."

You had to suppress a smirk as the shipless Colonel continued to speak.

"In light of our... loss of personnel, you leave us little choice but to concede to your terms and leave you be. I will honor my word and I will say that my forces will no longer be a threat to you or your vessel. However..."

You bite back a curse. You -hated- it whenever there was a catch.

"While my forces will no longer pose a threat to you or your comrades, the fact of thhe matter is, that after a failure as spectacular as this, the likelihood of these forces remaining under my command are slim to none. Not only that, we are but a fraction of the New UNE's military might. Though we will cease our pursuit of you and your crew, I cannot speak on behalf of the entire military."

You sigh, and rub your temples in exasperation.

"... Very well." you say, sighing. "So long as you leave us in peace, that is all we can ask for."

The remaining Daughtress Flyer pilots, now that they were no longer to engage you or the others, made it their top priority to rescue any of their shipwrecked comrades. You considered assisting them, as a show of goodwill, but you reminded yourself that ultimately, the New UNE was your enemy.

With the unofficial induction of Shagia and Olba into the Freeden's crew, there was one very serious problem that made itself clear; there was no room whatsoever for the Frost brothers' Mobile Suits. Fortunately, with the money you had amassed, along with the profit you intend on making selling the few Daughseats in storage aboard the Freeden, you considered purchasing a Land Battleship of your own to accommodate the Freeden's surplus forces

Fortunately for you, word from your contacts had come in, and there were indeed Land battleships available for purchase at Saints Island.

There are a few ships available for purchase, and all of them certainly seem interesting.
>A Pyrennes-class ship. Built more for looks and luxury rather than power or utility, this ship has no outer loading dock, and only a single hangar bay door configuration. Considerably slower than the Freeden, clocking in at only 100 km/h. The price tag on one of these reflects its luxurious nature, and though you'd be able to field a full crew, supplies would be limited.
>A Rocky-class vessel. Built with a smaller loading dock, this machine focuses more on hangar space than storage space, though accomodations are roughly on the same level as the Freeden, or any other Alps-class ship. There should be just enough money for hiring a full crew and stocking up this ship, though storage space will definitely be limited.
>An Alps-class vessel, same as the Freeden. There should be plenty of money leftover to stock up the ship and purchase a full crew.
>A Tenzan-class cruiser. Far larger and more power intensive than either a Rocky or Alps class ship, this massive beast clocks in at 160 km/h, same as the Freeden. Boasting double the storage space, hangar size, and able to accommodate far more crew members, the price on this thing reflects its size; you'd probably be able to afford it, though there'd be little money left to stock this thing, or to hire any crew members.

With your mind made up, you opted for the Rock-class vessel. While you were unfamiliar with the layout of that type of land battleship, if nothing else, you were a quick learner. According to your contact, the seller would be docked at Saints Island for quite a while, so time was not an issue. With your most recent conflict behind you, and everyone coming out of the ordeal relatively unscathed, the Freeden set course for Saints Island for supplies and repairs.

The Alps. You are now captain of that ship. And the old captain gets promoted. Your in charge of the ship. old captain is in charge of the operation.

>>27719197
We probably should've gone with one of those.

We're familiar with it, we could swap parts with the Freeden, and we could always get help from Kid and his engineers.

Alps or Tenzan.

Tenzan is worth it if we sell the Freeden or if we can get a discount. Otherwise, an Alps for parts interchangeability as someone has said.

>>27714319
Wait, what? Seriously? Isn't the Rocky the worst choice?
>>
>>27722362
It's the cheapest of the 3. The luxury ship seemed like the worst.

We should also look to buy some tactical/defensive upgrades for both ships. Point defense (lasers or CIWS against missiles & MS, beam chaff for beam weapons) and maybe reactive armor plates around vital areas.

It's pretty similar to an Alps, actually. The Pyrennes (the luxurious one) was the worst choice.
The Rocky has a bigger hangar than the Alps, and can fit more suits aboard, at the cost of having a smaller storage space.

>>27722394
According to that description above, it's more expensive than an Alps. Probably because of the bigger hangar.

Maybe if Jamil wants to sell the Freeden, we can put our money together and get a Tenzan.

You're talking about stuff that's a bit too smart for the usual gundam weapons designer. They did actually get the thing about the smallest ship being the slowest right though, at least if we are compairing these to real life naval vessels.

I'd have personally used a different pricing system, but w/e.
FYI, I'd prefer the rocky class, and think the people suggesting we sell the freeden are nuts
>>
>>27722957
>You're talking about stuff that's a bit too smart for the usual gundam weapons designer.

Doesn't mean we have to be too dumb. Besides, the Rick Dias actually had that chest shotgun for defense. And IIRC...the F2 had some options for reactive armor plating.

True, we need to upgrade our ships. Defensive and tactical upgrades are a must, especially now when we've basically declared war on the UNE.
>>
>>27723485
A fair point. To make life easier for OP, I've divided those MS we can reasonably expect to be able to purchase/hire into rough tiers based on the suits capability. Was wondering if anyone disagreed with the rankings.
Tier 1: Daughtress, Daughtress Tank, Daughtress Weapon, Jenice, Juracg, Estardoth, Pyron, Daughseat
Tier 2: Daughtress Command, Daughtress High Mobility, Daughtress Flyer, Septem Kai, Daughseat III
Tier 3: Daughtress High Mobility Command (?), Octape Kai,

Chances are it's cheaper to buy a lower tier suit and then upgrade it, unless Tier 2 & 3 suits have a high surplus. We probably know the answer though, IC.
>>
>>27723683
Some of the Tier one suits are Schmuck Bait though, and the High Mobility, Septem and Flyers can do stuff that's probably very difficult to mod into a suit.
>>
>>27723561
Looks okay to me. Maybe we should count the Gundams in there as well - for all we know (and with all the stuff we've changed) we might be facing some of those.

Anyway, since we're on Saint Island, we should see if our suits need upgrades as well. The Frost brothers probably have cutting edge machines, while the rest of the crew (maybe except Dave and Kai) could use some modifications.

>>27723683
So far, we've only dealt with tier 1 suits because they're the cheapest stuff Vultures and others can find. Now that we're entering the world of politics and big players, we'll probably see more of the tier 2 and 3 suits.

I guess the tier 2 suits are still more expensive than a tier 1 suit, unless it's ridiculously upgraded (like Ennil's suit was).
>>
>>27723736
I was under the impression we made a beast out of our first Daughtress?
>>
>>27723779
Yeah, it's almost a Gundam. Almost.

If we get some funding and somebody willing to work for us, we should make Garrod a Gundam as well. Maybe when we raid that UNE base we're going to find one or two lying around, still incomplete.
>>
>>27723779
We replaced 3/4ths of the parts with Gundam parts. It's more of a complete rebuild then an upgrade.
>>
>>27723861
Nah, I meant originally.

I think our current iteration of it is a Daughtress chassis using a ton of Gundam X parts. Though, that does mean you can upgrade them pretty far. It may also imply that the Daughtress & Gundam aren't far apart production wise.
>>
>>27723906
Not everyone has access to genius field engineers, and even our genius engineers can only do one upgrade at a time.
>>
>>27723906
Fair point. I don't know how much of the Daughtress we replaced with X parts - maybe it's going to need a new reactor or something to keep up.

Also, the Daughtress/Gundam parts working together brings me to an idea. Do we know whether Saints Island was taken over by the UNE or not?
If it was, we could get Kid to design a blueprint for the Daughtress/Gundam hybrid and sell it to the locals for some serious cash. They get a new suit that can fend off the UNE's eventual attack, and we get the money needed for maintaining and upgrading our stuff.
>>
>>27724025
It shouldn't be unless they are way ahead of schedule. And setting up a Divider Gundam production line is a good idea.
>>
>>27724139
I figure they"ll be behind after losing such a large force. Plus, now? We can alert them that there's a UNE remnant out to take over the world under a military dictatorship.
>>
>>27724139
Yeah, selling schematics would earn us a lot of money.
And we're sitting on a pile of Gundams - we could make God knows what and sell it to the highest bidder.

>>27724192
That'd earn us some favors.
The UNE will probably counterattack, though, but at least we'll have some time to prepare for it.
>>
What tier are New UNE & Gundams?

We should ask Kid about the feasibility of a country or large company massproducing the Guntress. If it's a bit impractical, we can offer designs to it and a more low-end/cheaper version to get the ordinary Daughtress to at least Tier 2.5 or 3.

I know the Divider Daughtress X (Windam?) Daughgun?) is probably cheaper to make than a full Gundam, even if it's only slightly. I figure knowledge on how to make Gundams are rare in itself anyway or we would've heard about reproductions, since they're so rare.
>>
>>27724320
Gundams would be tiers 4 and five, with the new designs (both New UNE and SRA) begin 3, 3.5 or 4
>>
>>27724320
Well, a large enough country or company could begin producing the Guntresses (let's call them Dividers, with Garrod's being the Divider Prime or something). It'd just require resources to do so, and Saints Island probably has them.

Now, the problem is, if they've not been attacked by the UNE yet, the guys in charge of the island might not listen to us because we're lowly Vultures.
>>
>>27724481
Lowly vultures who probably have recorded radio/video footage.

*GX-Bits*
And
*Several Gundams, some of which are clearly post-war if there's any Ex-UNE on the island*

Second bit is enough to catch their attention. First is the smoking gun of evidence.
>>
>>27724521
Fair enough, though they might consider us too much trouble and sell us out to the UNE in exchange for keeping their freedom or something.
We'll see when we get there.
>>
Bump
>>
OP ded?
>>
Not ded, just sick.

I think I'm gonna have to call off continuing the thread for tonight, guys.

Well shit, get better man.
