Last Time On Gundam AGE Quest! (For Scarlet anyway): http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/27777718/

Scarlet Crocker’s Character Sheet: http://pastebin.com/sZR81QNN

Your name is Scarlet Crocker and you’re two days away from a full-fledged invasion of the colony by Vagan forces. You’ve had to deal with rebuilding the base, find recruits, build weapons, and stop Vagan plots to destroy the colony. So far you’ve done a great job and you’ve managed to avoid disaster, but some things are beyond your control. Fram apparently has been taken hostage. Rysis believes it’s the last surviving Vagan from a group who tried to kidnap your father and the Crusader Gundam.

Rushing to the scene you find Rysis, along with the butt load of police you asked to guard the base, standing outside the entrance to the Sub-office.

“What’s the situation?” You ask, trying to stay calm.

“The woman who has taken Fram hostage is locked in your office. We don’t know what kind of weapon she has or if she plans on blowing herself up. All we know is that she wants you and that she specifically holed up in your office.” Rysis explains.

“Why did she do that exactly?” You ask.

“Because your office is one of the safest rooms in the building. When Bob was designing the reinforcements for the base I specifically had him fortify your office. It may not look safe, but that’s the point. The only subtle way into that room is through the front door, and if we force the lock or try to bust it down a blast door will slide down. The only way into that room is by being let in.” Rysis says with a sigh.

(cont)
>>
>>27952515
“Why such drastic precautions to protect me and why didn’t you tell me about them?” You’re not sure if you should feel touched or upset.

“Well I didn’t want you to get hurt. You’re the closest thing I have to a proper friend besides Travis, when he’s not drunk. I didn’t want you to die because some idiot shot you though your office window. I would have told you about it sooner but you were pretty busy.” Rysis explains with a shrug.

You wonder if this situation counts as some form of irony but quickly refocus yourself.

“So what does the woman want exactly?”

“She wants to speak with you and only you. She threatened that if you don’t go in there in the next 20 minutes she’s going to kill Fram and then herself. “The color drains from your face upon hearing this. The thought of something like that happening makes your hands tremble.

“What does she want? Does she want to kill me?” You ask, trying to find some meaning behind this woman’s plan.

“It’s obvious she knows you have a fondness towards Fram and she knew your office is highly fortified. She’s been watching this place for a while. If she wanted to kill you she could have easily done it numerous times before this. She wants something from you, but I don’t think its revenge.” Rysis’s words sink into you as you think on what to do.

You have 19 minutes to comply with the woman’s demands. What will you do?
>>
>>27952527
Okay, no time to panic.

Get mom over here, and let her try to contact Fram using her X-Rounder powers. Get some body armor (no point in getting shot), have the cops stand by the door, and try talking to the woman through the door. Also, someone get us a report on how the hell she slipped pass all our security.
>>
>>27952527
"Okay, tell her I'm on my way. Make sure she knows I'm a bit far from the office right now, so she shouldn't start getting paranoid if I cut it close to the wire."

Head on back to headquarters. Along our way call ahead and get someone to meet us with a concealable ballistic vest to put under our jacket so we don't have to waste time getting to the armory. I assume we have a pistol on us already. Maybe bring a concealed knife and some tear gas as well, just to be thorough. Get Ma G on the phone and have her on standby, keep the future equivalent of a bluetooth earpiece in our pocket so she can hear the conversation and relay it to a squad waiting outside the doors in case anything goes wrong. Then we knock on the door and announce our presence so the spy knows not to shoot Fram, and enter for a little hostage negotiation.
>>
>>27952698
Sounds fine to me.

Man our security sucks.

Side note, Crosswire, Scarlet has black hair, but she paints it red, same as Mellis.
Also, would this work as a picture of Jake?
>>
>>27952883
Alternatively, since black hair and red hair code on different genes, Mellis has red hair color that's just imperceptible because of the black hair genes producing so much eumelanin as to overpower the color. So Scarlet inherited the red hair genes but neither of her parents' black hair genes (much like how Dirk is a blonde with two dark haired parents), and her hair color is natural. Or, rather than any of my rambling about the genetics of hair color, the appearance entry could just be reflecting how she looks right now rather than how she does naturally, in which case both of our posts were completely pointless. But that's less fun.
>>
>>27952883
(I only meant to put down here current appearance, but thanks for the reminder that she has black hai
As for the picture, yeah that's a pretty good picture. The hair seems like something he could have. His beard is fuller and thicker though. By Gen 3 he's gonna have have a Gandalf beard...provided he's still alive)

>>27952698
>>27952748
"Okay, tell her I'm on my way. Make sure she knows I'm a bit far from the office right now, so she shouldn't start getting paranoid if I cut it close to the wire."

"Good point. Are you going to go in unprepared?" Rysis asks with a raised eyebrow.

"God no. Could you get me a ballistic vest, a knife I can conceal, and a tear gas grenade if we have any. Also, make sure once this is over that I have a report on how the hell she got through our security" You dig around in your pockets as Rysis gives you a nod and leaves to get you what you asked for.

After checking your back pocket you finally find it. It's a small earpiece/microphone about the size of a quarter. You don't use it very often since it's a bitch to keep in your ear and the microphone is so small and thin that you confuse it for a stand of your own hair and end up chewing on it when your bored.

Turning it on you pull out your phone and dial Ma G.

"Ma G I'm going to leave my headpiece turned on in my pocket so you can listen in on everything going on in the office, can you make sure to filter out any interference?"

"Probably. Unless that woman brought a jammer with her I doubt pocket lint is enough to prevent me from listening in." Ma G states.

Rysis gets you a vest which fits under your clothes without a problem along with a knife and a teargas grenade. The knife is thin but sharp and it's up your sleeve in such a way that you'll be able to grab it and use it at a moments notice. The teargas grenade has been adjusted not to have a delay, pull the pin and it'll go off almost immediately. You can't afford to wait for it to go off.

(Cont)
>>
>>27953170
With a vest on your chest, a knife up your sleeve, and a grenade in your pants you have the police move up to the door, officers taking positions as you knock on the door.

"This is Scarlet Crocker. I'm here like you asked."

"Good. Now come on in and we can have a chat. If anyone tries anything funny I'll kill all three of us. I don't have anything to lose so don't say I won't" The woman's voice sounds young and cold.

Don't even joke about that. Jake will live to Gen 3. If for no other reason than that we need to have a team up of the AGE-1 Gransa and whatever we name the AGE-X's Full Armor upgrade for one big reunion battle. They'll work together to take out an upgraded Gurdolin in a callback to the Space Orange mobile armors they fought together on the moon during the time skip. It will be great.

"Really, nothing to lose? That's depressing. Want me to bring in something to eat? I know comfort food always makes me feel better when I'm stressed."
>>
>>27953432
I don't think she'd fall for that, she might be expecting that we'll poison her food or something.
>>
>>27953575
True. But it's a standard tactic with hostage situations to act like you're their friend. I figure saying that doesn't really cost us anything. She's not going to shoot Fram until after she's made her demands, she gains nothing by doing so, so we're not risking anything by offering.
>>
>>27953631
Fair enough. Though I don't know how much that'd help considering how they were perfectly willing to kill us a couple of hours before with genocidal zeal. Still, won't hurt to try.
>>
While we're playing as Scarlet, we need a game plan for the Vagans.

Madorna is already producing some Adeles, right? Can we get him to make 100 of those, and have our pilots train for the next couple of days in them?
Our Genoaces are nice, but they can't beat an Adele performance-wise. Plus, we can make wears for them.

As for the training, can we modify the programing in our training Genoaces so that their handling matches that of the Adeles?
>>
>>27954631
That's what the Genoace Kai pack is for. It should make them roughly equal with the Adeles, if less versatile. Though I don't think we have any wear packs for the Adeles anyway, so that's not a big issue. Shit, we should get the AGE Builders on that. Some Brocka packs, some Starks, and maybe a few Warzes would expand their functionality nicely.
>>
>>27954708
Well, the Kai is a bust, considering how Madorna couldn't incorporate it with the newer Genoaces. Which leaves us with 50 Adeles our guys haven't trained in and 100 Genoaces used for training, which still need to be upgraded to be combat-ready.

Better just get 100 Adeles, some wears for them, and have the pilots get familiar with their controls. As for the wears, we could get those, but that'd divide the training further, and we don't have time for that. Better get one wear to rule them all and have them train in that - maybe an Assault Jacket wear?
>>
>>27954812
He couldn't incorporate it to the Genoace III. The Genoace II, on the other hand, should work with it. And that's the suit we've been using for training. So we can retrofit those and get them ready for combat.

As for a standardized wear package for the Adeles, I'd say we should go with the Brocka. It's got speed and good melee damage. Ranged combat can be handled with the HY-DODS rifles and heavy railguns we're churning out. Defense can come from an anti-beam coating shield. Maybe even incorporate a beam shield into the physical shield, as a backup, kind of like the Infinite Justice's composite shield from SEED Destiny. That would reduce the load on the beam shield by giving it a physical backing to help absorb the blow. Also, could we incorporate the ABC holding tank into the shield itself? A little container built into it with an electrostatic fluid spreader could let the suit apply the coating itself instead of having to go through the armory to apply it. Maybe that's not viable for right now, given our limited schedule, but we should put it on the list of things to put in Gen 3 designs.

Really, our Gen 3 situation is going to be very different from canon. In canon, the Clanche was a limited production line because it was expensive to build and difficult to pilot. But we've got nanotech assembly techniques and the Gawain has a limited AI support system for managing the flight controls that we could copy. Throw in lightweight defensive systems like the beam shields or improved anti-beam coating and we could have the Clanche be our mainstay mobile suit. That would be cool.

It doesn't even have to be a full Assault Jacket - just throw together a shoulder cannon based on the Kai bazooka and a vulcan cannon, some extra armor and we get the Adele Jesta wear.
>>
>>27955032
So logistics-wise, the Clanche is the Hellion/Enact/Flag/Realdo but better?

A fast coat-deployment system would be nice to have. We really could improve our physical shields - install a flash system into one, maybe a hardpoint that can hold a secret weapon or two like Jack's old suit did. A larger version could probably handle a beam shield as well.

As for the Genoaces, we still haven't got the Kai to work properly, and we don't have the time to sort out all the kinks in it, so retrofitting our old suits would take too much time. Better recycle them, get some Adeles and some wears for them. Madorna could upgrade them to Adele Mk-IIs, that'd be nice. And we really need to include escape pods into our suits - every pilot we have is important.

And considering Gen-3, we'll see. We could get screwed over by Leviathan and they keep all that sweet stuff for themselves. Or the Feds refuse to accept the improvements because Arthur's successor made them and they hate us for it. There's so much that could go wrong in the meantime.
>>
>>27955189
Kind of? The Union and AEU factions pretty much had all transforming units, with the ability to refit them for ground warfare as a side note. Air superiority was a big thing for that series. The Clanche is more like the ReZel to the Adele II's Jegan. But with our advances in tech we could make it more like the yf-25 Messiah from Macross Frontier. Let's do that.
>>
Crosswire you alive?
>>
>>27955341
True, true. There's still a lot to go wrong before we get to Gen 3. It's twenty-three years, plenty of time for us to get screwed over. But hopefully we'll still get Olfenoa and his cronies brought to justice in this timeline, and Leviathan has so far been pretty okay despite how ominous they seem, so we might not be stuck with shitty mass production suits.

As for the Genoace Kais, I suppose you have a point. Going all Adele would probably be better. Though I don't think we can upgrade to the Adele Mk-II. That doesn't exist yet, and if Madorna can't hack together the Genoace Kai and Genoace III in the time we've given him, he surely can't upgrade our suits by a generation of development.

>>27955487
Well, we do have Asemu's Prototype Adele around here - I remember that it's performances are about 5% better than the regular, mass-produced Adele. Maybe if we use it as a base, work out its flaws, we could have Adeles 1.5 ready for the battle. Combine it with what we have so far on the Kai, some armor from the Assault Jacket and maybe we can mass-produce the Adele Canon wear earlier.

As for Leviathan, we'll see. So far they've been nice, sure, but there's the fact that Grodek suspects them of planning to overthrow the Feds, Emily working (hiding?) among them, and Halsey confirming that they experimented on inmates to make that serum of theirs. And Dirk still hasn't been approached by their rebel agent - as far as we know.

Also, considering the Olfenoas, if I remember correctly, they used to work under the table to hide their old shame and broker a peace with the Vagans, right? It was only genocidal Flit who wanted the Vagans exterminated that wouldn't allow for peace treaties with them. So maybe they won't be so bad. Or they'll be worse in our timeline, especially considering how Dirk probably screwed both the Zarths and them by meeting Rena.
>>
>>27955772
Grodek is Leviathan's head. He suspects a splinter faction of attempting to commit a coup. I'm pretty sure that he himself won't try anything as long as the Federation's existence continues to be in his interests. Emily and Halsey I acknowledge as being super suspicious, though. Also, just realized something: Halsey's last name is Hearts. Kio's girlfriend is Wendy Hearts. It's been somewhat foreshadowed that Kio will still exist in this timeline as a Leviathan-raised test tube baby. Oh, that's going to be awkward.

As for the Olfenoas, Froi at least was working against the Federation's interests. He was collaborating with the Vagans, but they weren't peace talks. More like attempts at appeasement so he could save his own ass. Which ultimately didn't work, as they sent a hit squad of mobile suits to kill him. So even without crazy genocidal Flit we're still going to get them removed from power, probably.
>>
>>27955915
Grodek is the Supreme Commander of Leviathan - I'm sure that means he's in charge of their military, not the entire thing. There's probably some guy who's in charge of their research, another for finances, and so on. And their backers who call all the shots - we picked up info during the visit to Vagan that they're not funded by the Federation and that even the Vagan agents have no idea who or what they are.

Considering the Olfenoas, we'll see. For now, nobody in-universe has any concrete proof that they're collaborating with the Vagans. When we do get the proof, it's going to start hell. All the families in charge of the Federation vying for control, even more backstabbing and sabotage than usual, while the Vagans sit back and plan their next move.
>>
>>27956329
See, that's why I want to start our own faction. We'll break off during the chaos and leave all this mess behind. Let's start a colony on Europa or something. We can even recruit the Bisidian pirates to come along with us so we can have a proper Crossbone Vanguard. Come on, it'll be fun.
>>
>>27956557
Well, the original idea behind Akdamut was that it's a Colony Defense Force because Leviathan is focused on killing Vagans and bringing the war to them. And we could repurpose Daiki's old colony to serve as our new headquarters in case something goes wrong (or right).

Either way, Gen-3 is going to be weird. Gen-2 is going to be all about intrigues, Gen-3 all about saving the world.

But first of all, we have to save Zarth. Let's see, things to do that could give us an edge:
> Produce improved Adeles.
> Produce a new wear for the battle.
> Get your pilots accustomed to piloting their new suits.
> Improved weapons.
> Improved shields.
> Decoy suits.
> Prepare evacuation shuttles.
>>
>>27956977
Okay, found the list of potential things we should do from a previous thread. Here's a list of all the things we should do:
> Create decoy suits.
> Produce Adeles and get the pilots accustomed to them.
> Improve goo grenades and electrified nets.
> Improve our physical shields with that beam-coating deployment system or a flash system.
> Produce the pilot suits Scarlet wears for the rest of the pilots.
> Prepare an evacuation plan in case Vagans break through.
> Authorize the AGE builder for Madorna.
> Issue and produce all sorts of HDODS weaponry.
> Upgrade the ships.
> Try to replicate the IUS from the Treasure Star

We've mostly done everything we can in the time frame available. We've mined the surrounding area, put automatic turrets in place, set up ECM coverage and a sensor net, rebuilt our defense corps, recruited several aces, and acquired a WMD. Right now we're mostly waiting on the mobile suits to be finished.

Yeah, I guess you're right. We just need to create an plan in case everything goes to shit so we can evacuate the colonists.

And I guess we're going with focusing on the Adeles and the wears / equipment for them. The manufactoring part can be left to the regular engineers, we should have Madorna and Daiki get cracking on upgrading the Aces' suits.
>>
We need to capture or at least get some info out of this girl. She can tell us what the hell the Vagans were doing on Zarth, as well as what their mission on Solon was.

Speaking of Solon, we haven't found any spies or collaborators while we were there. Whatever it was the Vagans were doing there, it was important enough that they tried to preserve the colony instead of nuke it. Maybe they wanted the production facilities over there? Or something else entirely?

Yeah my internet crapped out and I feel asleep in my bed waiting for it to come back on. I was going to mention the bad weather in my next post, but that didn't work out.
>>
>>27965522
So should I just post my reply or write it up and save it in word for later? I'm kind of nervous about keeping this thread around. If we can stop this one from dying that's great, but I don't want it to die mid game. Still even if it does I can always tell you guys where the new one is on twitter.
>>

You can write it down in Word and then post it here later, when you resume this part.
Don't worry about the thread dying mid-game, we're about 250 posts till autosage sets in, and even then it'd take hours for it to reach page 10. And an occasional bump now and then will make sure this doesn't die till 3PM or whenever you're capable of resuming this thing.

Potential wear for the Adele that could be developed.

> Adele Jesta.
Based on the Wiegel and the Genoace Kai, this unit features two shoulder-mounted heavy weapons. It features a heavy beam cannon mounted over the right shoulder and a grenade launcher.mounted over the left shoulder. The wear comes equipped with additional armor and thrusters necessary to balance its heavy load. Additional equipment includes head-mounted vulcan cannons.perfect for eliminating missiles and light craft, as well as hard-points for additional grenades and ammo packs. The Jesta wear is perfectly capable of using traditional equipment such as a physical shield, beam sabers, and DODS rifles.

Alternatively, we could take a few hints from the Merlin and have the shoulder-mounted weapons be mounted on some hardpoints. That way, the suit can change between various weapon loadouts depending on the situation - from a heavy vulcan, to a missile launcher, to a beam shield.

(Posting this a bit early since I have to go to the store)

"You come in, the girl comes out. Anyone does anything funny and I take the both of you with me, understand?" The woman's voice is cold and calculating as she speaks, she seems somewhat impatient.

"Are you sure you don't want anything to eat? I'm sure I could-"

"No. I just want to talk. Now come on in." The door to your office swings open and you proceed inside. As you come in you see purple out of the corner of your eye and the door close behind you.

The door to your office opens; the person opening it is safely behind the door preventing you from seeing them. As you step inside the office you see a flash of purple out of the corner of your eye and the door closing behind you. In front of you is a young woman, probably only a year or two older then you. She has short blond hair, dull blue eyes and a bandage on her cheek. She’s wearing a tattered green jumpsuit with a broken zipper. Through the zipper you can see bandages, stained red with blood…

In her hand is a gun, an unusual gun of Vagan design. She’s holding it up when you look at her, probably used it to force Fram out the door.

"So your the commander of this place? For a while I wasn't sure, even on Vagan our superiors tend to be a bit older." The women keeps the gun trained on you, finger at the trigger.

"So, are you going to listen to me or do you have something up your sleeve?" The women asks.

The women smirks "Well you're pretty nice for someone who just became my new hostage." The women says, wincing as shifts in your seat.

"Those bandages look fresh. Do you need medical attention?" You ask.

"The wounds aren't life threatening, at least I don't think they are. I'd have probably just lured you in here and killed you and the girl if I was dying." The women says rather honestly, in the same tone you'd admit that you'd have eaten the last piece of pizza if you were hungry.

"Alright, so what do you want to talk to me about?"

"What do you know about Project Prometheus?" The woman asks locking eyes with you.

> [A] "Prometheus? I know an old movie called that, but I don't know of any projects related to it off the top of my head. I'm pretty new to the military"
Honestly, we got drafted and put into this position 5 days ago.

>[B] Make an effort to try and recall anything regarding a Project by that name. (Roll an intelligence check, 1d20 plus modifiers)

Might as well try to remember.
>>
Rolled 15 + 1

>>27971869
To this, let's try to remember. Maybe we heard something, but I doubt that.

Rolling. Modifier is +1, right?
I expected Scarlet to have a bit higher intelligence stat, to be honest. She's already managing all this.
>>
>>27971932
She's got good Spirit and Personality stats, though, and I imagine those are pretty important for the work she's been given. Perseverance, leadership, team management, that sort of thing. Intelligence can be worked on later, right now she just needs to push everyone through this until they're safe. She'll become a tactical genius sometime after she's got more than three weeks of leadership under her belt.
>>
>>27972038
Yeah, but we did make her an ambitious top-student during chargen. One of the best in her generation.
>>
>>27972142
That still fits if you look at all her mental stats as a whole. She's only a little bit smarter than the average person. But she's got strong drive and determination to succeed that lets' her keep at projects despite their difficulty. And she's so empathetic that she can easily get assistance from others and lead them to relate it in understandable terms. So she still excels in scholastic activities, to the point that she's at the top of her class. I don't see any of her peers having ultimate power of life and death over millions of people, do you? Most likely to succeed, I'd say.

>16. DC 15. Success!
You stand and think in silence. It takes you a couple of minutes, but you manage to recall a conversation you caught between your father and Flit. It was one of the few times you had ever seen them argue.

You can't remember exactly what it was about, but Flit had offered to pull some strings to get your father back into something involving research and your father became visibly upset.

The two went back and forth until your father yelled "I won't have another Prometheus happen! Not again!" At that point you started crying and the two stopped talking.

"That was before my time. I've only had clearance for about three weeks, you see. All I've heard is rumors, nothing definitive. I know that whatever happened, it was bad, though."

Let's not admit any involvement Jake might have had in it. That could anger her, depending on what Project Prometheus was. I can think of a few things it could have been given the naming scheme, and while none of them are good, some of them would imply an accident rather than research that was unethical to begin with. Let her exposit some, she clearly wants to do the "look at the atrocities your government has perpetuated" schtick. Then we can consider whether to tell her where we heard of it.
>>
>>27972474
Yeah, let's do that. Better not involve Jake in any of this.

And we get a new conspiracy to add to the pile. Great.
>>
Has OP actually improved his spelling/grammar and proofreading? I got up to Part 2 before I dropped it.
>>
>>27972505
I know. We just keep collecting them. Three possibilities seem possible to me, assuming the name isn't a random choice. Firstly, Prometheus stole fire from the sun. Fairly fitting for some sort of incredibly powerful weapon of mass destruction. Doesn't seem too likely, that one, but it could be. Secondly, Prometheus was the shaper of life who gave the animals their various attributes. That could mean Project Prometheus was involved with Leviathan's bioengineering projects. But Jake's a mechanical and electrical engineer, not biomedical. He probably wouldn't have been involved in that. Finally, Prometheus's name means "foresight". X-Rounders, anyone? Seems like a logical thing for Jake to have been researching. And the Grail psycho-crystals had to have come from somewhere. Maybe an old colleague from the Project Prometheus days that finished the work on their own and sent it to Jake because they couldn't come forward themselves?
>>

read some of his posts in this thread and decide for yourself, I stopped noticing it after a while

"That was before my time. I've only had clearance for about three weeks, you see. All I've heard is rumors, nothing definitive. I know that whatever happened, it was bad, though." You say, trying not to admit any involvement from your father.

"Bad? That's an understatement." The women lets out a sigh and leans back in your chair, still holding her gun on you.

“In A.G 126 a ship left Vagan carrying supplies and personnel meant to fuel the war. However from the start of the trip the people on board only ever intended to desert. They had snuck their families and loved ones on board and planned on surrendering to the Earth Federation. My parents and I were aboard that ship. Everything went perfectly until we approached the outpost." The women glares at you. You're not sure if she's merely getting angry and trying to keep an eye on you or if she's angry with you for some reason.

“It was a small outpost. Probably no bigger than this base. We radioed ahead of time and even sabotaged our weapons and suits to show them we meant peace. However we got no reply, all we got instead was a visual conformation of a mobile suit launching. It was a single mobile suit, a variation of your Genoace line. We believed they were sending someone out because their comms were down. If they intended to attack surely they would send more than a Genoace.” Shaking her head the women laughs to herself, the kind you make when you realize your naivety and foolishness, like when you were a child and asked your Dad if raisin dragons existed.

>>
>>27972601
(I apologize if my grammar and spelling aren't up to par. I have a tendency to miss a lot of stuff when I proofread)

"The Genoace attacked us with a ferocity and viciousness that we had never seen before. Even our most zealous pilots were nothing in comparison to that demon’s hatred. It tore our ship to pieces and butchered anyone it could find, ripping and tearing through the few suits we launched to defend ourselves, eyes burning a hellish red. It destroyed our ship and nearly kill many people, including my parents. It was only thanks to 8 X-Rounders that the monster was defeated and the handful of survivors escaped with our lives."

You raise your eyebrow at that. X-Rounders? Could they have been the ones who sold that suit to the Merchant?

"Everyone else left for Earth or went into hiding, trying to forget what happened. However I couldn't forget. I refused to forget. A few of the other survivors joined me and we set about trying to discover what that monster was and who made it." The women leans forward and primes her gun "I'll give you one guess who created it."

What do you think of this Scarlet? What do you wish to say?
>>
>>27972838
What, she means Jake made that Super Genoace? Is that why she attacked the Zarth HQ (if she's even one of those guys)? He'd never do anything like that.
Hell, he always offers an invitation for the Vagans to surrender and come peacefully to the Federation. The scientists and Fram are living proof of that.
>>
>>27972621
They all sound probable. And all could have to do something with Zarth, considering how this place was where most of the secret labs and research centers were located during the old war.

The first possibility, a giant weapon, might be possible. We know from that both the Feds and Colonies were preparing to wipe each other out during the last days of war, before Arthur stopped them. Maybe a giant colony laser? That could explain why the Vagan wanted to take over Solon instead of destroy it.

Side note, we really didn't do much at Solon - that place is still infested with spies and probably a fuckton of Anansi.

The second one, dealing with bioengineering, would fit with the nanotech from Zarth and all that human experimentation Leviathan's been doing. And it'd fit with Ezelcant's plan for the Garden of Eden and creating his perfect human race.

And the third one, no idea. I'd say that the Grail psycrystals are old tech (which raises the question, who sent us that data), so it might have to do something with them. Maybe an artificial way to predict the future, instead of relying on X-Rounders?

Either way, something went wrong, and a lot of people died. And it probably has to do something with that small outpost where this girl and her family were attacked.
>>
>>27972979
He wouldn't do it on purpose. But we know the Grail system, in its unfinished state, makes suits its installed in go berserk. And we know that the suit he used for a testbed was a Genoace. The suit must have attacked without being commanded to. Hell, maybe it even deployed without being commanded to. It detected X-Rounders approaching and launched from the base on its own volition to destroy the ship they were in.
>>
>>27973192
But wasn't it tested on the Camelot? So whoever was the guy with the Genoace, he didn't work for Jake.
>>
>>27973192
That would explain the lack of response, too. The Genoace Grail-type went berserk, smashed up the base when they tried to restrain it, destroyed the communications equipment and flew off to kill the X-Rounders it sensed.
>>
>>27973224
He still designed it. Our captor is angry with who built it, not about who piloted it. The pilot isn't even a factor when the suit's rampaging like that. Jake would be the one responsible for allowing such a fatal flaw to exist.
>>
>>27973270
Fair point. Jake designed it, scrapped it, someone else found it and resumed work on it, but she doesn't care about that.
>>
But how the hell did she dig the info that Jake made it up? Did someone tell her that?

Also, I doubt that she's working with the Vagans who attacked us.
They aren't the type of guys to accept back traitors and runaways, and probably would shoot her on sight like they would Desil.
>>
>>27973328
How did they get their hands on it, though? Jake said he never handed it over to anyone, just experimented with it himself.
>>
>>27973450
I think the Grail is the top-secret around here that only Jake and Scarlet know about.

The Anti-X-Rounder system that went berserk probably had more people working on it, so it's possible any one of those could have gotten away with the blueprints and gave them over to Leviathan or whoever that was. And then, later on, to eliminate Jake, they give the data on who invented the system to this girl.
>>
>>27972838
"From your tone it seems you blame someone I'm close to. My father, most likely. He was working on an anti-X-Rounder combat AI, which could have slipped its restraints and made the suit it was installed in go berserk. However, I know this for certain: My father has always given the Vagans a chance to surrender. He's too much of an optimist to do otherwise. He would not have let your hail go unanswered. So what happened, then, since you clearly know more about this than I? Were the base's antennae and hangars destroyed by the berserking suit and he was helpless to respond? Was he trapped in the suit, knocked unconscious by the acceleration of its berserk movements? Was he even there at all? I don't know why he'd be testing without the Camelot, it's entirely plausible that the outpost was another team. Where did you get your information on all this, and why do you think it's reliable? If he is at fault I will help you seek justice. But you have to give me a good reason to think so."
>>
>>27973270
"My father? He's built a lot of weapons, but he'd never release any on innocent Vagans. Hell he's been one of the few people trying to spare Vagans and give them the chance to surrender." You say, crossing your arms.

"Really? Then I'm confused. Why would such a peaceful man design a weapon whose only logical usage be to kill countless people?Project Prometheus's main purpose was to design an automated Anti-X-rounder weapon capable of attacking targets with X-Waves and disrupting their precognitive abilities. It was also to be revamped as a generalized automated weapon meant for mass deployment. So your father knew what he was getting into when he signed onto such a project. But why would such a good man do such a thing? Hmmm?" The women raises an eyebrow and asks, seeming to know the answer.

"Where are you getting your information from? Maybe you were lied to?" You say, shifting uncomfortably.

"I pried files and truths from a lot of people over the years before they died. I've done enough digging to get more then dirty kid. Do you want to know the reason your father built that machine without any fear of the consequences? Because he's not perfect. Because he had to know something. He had to know if he could play god or not..."

"This is ridiculous! My father isn't that kind of man. All he's cared about his whole life is protecting people and-"

"Building." The women states. "Your father, ever since he got a hold of that Gundam of his has been building, and creating and making revolutionary weapons and designs. Up until that point he had barely touched a engineering textbook or show any interest in making things up until he found that machine. I've looked into the files and it didn't make sense until I learned what was at the heart of Prometheus. What made that Demon work. You want to know what I think? I think your father, for all this messiah like qualities has one immense flaw. Whenever he gets an idea. He has to build it."

(Cont)
>>
>>27973676
Is she implying that Jake's been altered, somehow? Like there were nanomachines in the Gundam's cockpit that have rewritten his brain, or something like that? Because it sounds like she thinks that his engineering abilities are artificially induced, and it has something to do with the Grail crystals. Wait, is that why Jake so resembles Arthur? Because there's some sort of successor nanovirus left around to ensure his work would be finished?
>>
>>27973765
Nah, pretty sure she implies that Jake obsesses with building stuff and experimenting.
Jake had to pick up engineering in order to save himself, his dad and mom, and Mellis, no altering was done on him.
>>
>>27973791
Yeah, that's the interpretation that would make sense to a normal person, but she's sounding somewhat unhinged. And
>up until that point he had barely touched a engineering textbook or show any interest in making things up until he found that machine. I've looked into the files and it didn't make sense until I learned what was at the heart of Prometheus. What made that Demon work.
sounds pretty ominous. She could be poetically referring to Jake's driving obsession, but given some of the bombs that have been dropped on us lately I'm not sure it's not literal. Doesn't mean she's right, but it sounds like she might believe it.
>>
>>27973676
"Your father's desire to save lives comes second before his desire to create. A lot of the time he's happy to build things meant to be used in combat isn't he? Most of the stuff you see is pretty tame, rifles, swords, new suits and systems...but what about the stuff you and I don't know about? Hmmm? How well do you think you know your father Scarlet? How much are you willing to bet he joined up with that project not knowing what it fully entailed? Because I'm willing to be he knew exactly what he was doing! He wasn't thinking about the means he was thinking about his chance to play god!" The women yells and stands to her feet, hand starting to tremble with anger.

"What made that Genoace so powerful was a crystal. A crystal that is for all intents and purposes. Alive. I had to kill 12 scientists and a fleet commander to get information on it and when I did I couldn't make heads or tails of it. When I took it to see a few scientists they nearly fainted once they figured it out. That's what I came to tell you Scarlet. Your father knowingly developed a monstrous weapon all for the chance to create something he thought of. I bet he's made some of it recently to hasn't he huh? I bet he said a friend of his or some mysterious person sent him the information didn't he?" The women smiles as she watches you mull over the information, doubt tugging at your heart. You know your father wouldn't do anything like that, but why would she thing this?

But that line about Jake not being interested in building stuff isn't true. He built a catapult when he was a kid to mess around with Mellis, and he did take advanced tech classes when he was in school which were quite expensive. So whoever told her that part, lied to her.
>>
>>27973903
"Why are you telling me this? Why not just kill my father, he's in the infirmary right now?" You demand, causing the women to shake her head.

"Killing him won't make me feel better. Nothing will bring back my family. Nothing will bring back the friends you and your men killed. What will make me feel better is watching your ideal picture of your father crack under the realization that he's not some perfect messiah. When this is all over you'll look to that dark closet or the basement and wonder...what is he hiding? And when you find what he's hiding you'll know your father, for all his efforts to save the world and stop this war, is the man who will most likely destroy it." The women puts down her gun and just laughs.

"Your crazy. My father was into building as a kid! " You say with a glare.

"And your in denial. Last time I checked computer science classes don't qualify you to build weapons. I think it's time I end this. When you get the chance ask your father about Prometheus Scarlet and that crystal of his, maybe if there's an after life I'll get to see his face twist up. I may not know your father but I know this. There's something wrong with a man who's intent with saving lives one minute and then throwing them away to create something another" Raising her gun again, she primes it...and then turns it on herself.

"No!" You attempt to snatch the gun from the woman's hands but it goes off as you smack it. The women falls to the floor, a hole in the back of her head.

Immediately Rysis and the police rush in as you look at the scene in front of you...

This is why I wanted Gundam AGE to end in genocide, while I understand the Vagan's reasoning as they feel like the victims, they don't make me feel anything for their cause.
>>
>>27974253
Bah! We aren't denying. We're rationalizing. Much better for our long term mental health.

"I'm a little shaken, Rysis. I honestly wasn't expecting her to kill herself. That was pretty disturbing. Oh, you mean the things she said about Dad? No, that's crazy. I mean, yes, it's entirely possible that an experiment my father worked on accidentally killed innocent people, and he never told me out of guilt. If that's the case it's horrible, but it isn't going to change my opinion of him. She's wrong, I don't have some idyllic image of my father. I know exactly what kind of man he is, the good and the bad. What am I supposed to do, become a nihilist because human beings aren't infallible? He's still the father I know and love.

"Besides, did you hear how she was talking? She almost sounded like she believed that Dad had been, I don't know, taken over by some alien intelligence. Like the Gundam rewrote his brain for some horrible purpose, and that's why he's so good an engineer. That's insane. The reason he had a sudden upswing in his engineering skill is because he had access to the AGE Builder, it's evolutionary design system, and a god damn Turing-complete AI assistant. Even if he was somehow changed by contact with one of those things, why would that make me think worse of him? In that case he'd be a victim, too, because he'd have been brain damaged! We don't think poorly of you because of how you acted when you were delirious from cryo-damage, why would I hold a double standard for my father?"
>>

"I'm a bit shaken up but I'll be OK. How's Fram?" You begin walking until you find some place comfortable to sit down.

"She's fine. She's in the infirmary with your father. Are you OK? She was really trying to get into your head."

"I'm OK. Dad isn't perfect, I know that. He has his flaws and his short comings. Maybe he did help make that weapon and maybe it did kill a bunch of people. I'm sure he feels guilty about it and didn't tell me for that reason. He's not a good engineer because of some crazy mind control, he's a good engineer because of all the stuff he was around." You see Rysis frowns at the mention of mind control but nods.

"When I met your father he reminded me of someone I once knew. He looked a lot like him, sounded a lot like him, but after I got to know him I realized he wasn't him. Jake has his flaws, but in the end he has a kind heart. I can't say the same for the person he reminded me of, not anymore..." Rysis shakes her head and looks at you. "Enough about that though, what do you plan to do now?"

"I think I'm going to speak to Mom and Dad about all this." You say, standing up.

"Are you sure that's wise? Your father's still in rough shape after getting shot up. Bringing up something he specifically avoided talking about might worsen his condition. Maybe it might be a good idea to leave that discussion for later?"

What do you wish to do Scarlet?

Just want to note, be careful with making rerolling a one cost a hope and give a dispair. Cosgrove did that with Peter Parker quest and it led to retarded amounts of Parker Luck very very fast.
And seeing as the only two ways to get rid of dispair is A: Get Shanked. B: Get Friend Shanked, we could potentially end up building alot fast.
Plus it makes those huge strings of Nat 1 /tg/ likes to randomly throw out hurt much much more then they need to.

Rysis is right. You know, let's bug her for a while.

"Relax, I'm not going to bring up the Prometheus Project business. The most I'll say is that she was a Vagan with a grudge against Dad because of his work in weapons development. I don't want to get wrapped up in any big conversations until after the Vagan attack has come and been defeated. But they do deserve to know what happened, so I'll give them the abridged version for now."

So let's check in on the infirmary, tell our family about what happened, then we should head back to the Madorna Workshop to resume dealing with the mobile suit issues. Bonus points if we're super chill about it when the Madornas ask what happened. "Oh, you know, crazy Vagan woman broke into my office so she could rant about how we're the REAL monsters who are going to wind up destroying the world. No big deal. So what was it you were saying about the Adeles?"
>>
>>27974917
Actually, let's wait with the girl talk, we have a colony to save.

First, find Madorna. We need Adeles, and fast. See if he could use Asemu's prototype Adele to make something improved out of them. He should scrap the Training Genoaces and produce those things. Have our guys train in them immediately after they're made.

Second, lets see if there's any way to upgrade our weapons - either by getting Hy-DODS rifles. Advanced grenades. Electrified nets against the inevitable Anansi rush.

Third, see if there's a way to fasten up that anti-beam coating system. Maybe something that's installed directly into the shield that sprays the stuff? And improved shields would be nice as well - maybe a flash system or something installed in them.

Fourth, decoys. We have those training balloons here, we can use them to confuse the Vagans.

Fifth, upgrading the Aces' suits.

Finally, making an evacuation plan in case shit hits the fan.

We can have Romary and Rysis help us with this while we go check in on Mellis. Then we can go and bug Rysis.

(In Gundam bad crap tends to happen out of nowhere. As much as random acts of awful being a tool to portray the horror of war, it doesn't work well it a narrative setting of this kind. Here you can earn Despair points being doing something bad, like killing someone out of anger when you could spare them, or doing bad crap. Or you can gain them by messing up. Small mistakes tend to add up and kind of spiral into a breadcrumb trial of sorts for the people who hate you.)

(Now that you mention it, he probably has a few. I didn't want to put any down immediately after I put up the new system that'd seem kind of cheap but now that you guys have an idea of how things operate I think I'll add a few to his sheet, not an unfair amount though)
>>
>>27975216
Really, Solon was one big "bad crap out of nowhere" moment. It would actually work really well in the series itself. Dirk heads off into battle, eager to save lives and feel good about himself after recent traumatic revelations. He does masterful piloting and nearly saves the day, but an act of spite on the enemy's part gives him a ticking countdown to doom. He stops this after a dramatically composed fight scene with a unique enemy unit, but can't prevent the gas from causing some casualties, to his shame. And before the prisoner can be interrogated, he's killed by someone implied to be a secret traitor on Dirk's own team. It's very fitting for the franchise. Spread it out over two, maybe three episodes, and you've got a good mid-season arc.
>>
>>27975326
(Really? Why thank you. It's nice to know I haven't goofed up on the plot, at least completely. I'm writing a post as we speak)

Scarlet maybe has a few (lesser than Dirk, though), after that recent attack on the HQ out of nowhere. And one more detail, just to get the timeline straight - it's been about a week since Scarlet was made commander, not three.

>>27975326
Yeah, and the fact that they didn't really succeed in finding traitors on Solon, or how and why they were there. And the entire nerve gas thing that really doesn't fit the typical Vagan profile - they wanted the colony for something, but for what?

You know how we find the traitors on Solon?
Treasure Star.
>>

That's your answer for everything, isn't it? Not that it wouldn't work.
>>
>>27975817
Totally. There's nothing that indiscriminate time travel can't fix.
>>
>>27975460
That doesn't sound right. Really, only one week? I could have sworn it was longer, just based on it being roughly in line with Dirk's events. He's been all over the Earth Sphere, even allowing for the speed of fusion-powered spaceships he would have been gone longer than that.

Too bad Daiki's terrified of it, even after we proved to him that his actions didn't lead to the deaths of everyone he ever cared about. Though there are still some unsettling things about it. Like why the Treasure Star's crew were in a time loop despite the changed timeline showing that we're not in a fixed causality. Or why Flit Asuno still exists despite the butterflies erasing the crew's families. It's kind of weird. You know, on second thought, let's avoid it. Time travel is dangerous.

You know how we fix that?
TIME TRAVEL!

Yeah, when Scarlet assumed command, we got the info that the Vagan attack will be in about one week - if they keep with the schedule, that is. And it kinda fits - Dirk goes to Big Ring, gets his arm shot off, is asleep for a day only to get sent to the moon, gets shot again, sleeps for another day, goes to Solon - if we assume that the Diva didn't stop at all in the meantime. Man, Dirk's a mess.

As for the Vagan attack, we still have no idea what's it going to be like. Or whether they'll attack Zarth first. The girl who could've given us some answers is dead, and the only clue so far is that photo we got when we analyzed the Anansi broadcast tower.

My guess? There are two more of those on Minsry and Fairdain. We find them, get what they've been transmitting, and by triangulating the three broadcasts towers, we'll figure out where the Vagan fleet is.

Side note, we sent the Anansi we beat to Minsry to get analyzed. We should call them eventually and see what they figured out about the damn things.
Rysis mentioned that the best way to fight them would be a bug zapper, so an electrified net launcher would be useful to have around.

(I think I'm gonna have to end this here for tonight guys. I'm not feeling to hot and it's getting late. Next thread will be more orderly and such. I'll keep your suggestions and stuff for next time Scarlet comes around. Thanks for playing!0

Sure thing, Crosswire. Get well, and see you next time.

Okay, now we know that the Vagans are aware of the Anti-X-Rounder tech that Jake was developing, and apparently have one of those crystals in their possession.

This can't be good.

For all we know we might end up letting Pinky onto the Treasure Star.

Do you to risk that?
>>
>>27976461
You know, that's a good point: Someone else other than Jake had a Grail crystal. This must be the case because Jake still has the one in the Genoace he used as a test bed. Our captor supposedly had one of her own that she showed to scientists to figure out what it was. So Jake can't be the only one with access to the Grail. Probably some other group (i.e, Leviathan) stole a sample from his own work and reverse-engineered it. Project Prometheus' disastrous failure can easily be placed on the scientists that took over the project without Jake's knowledge after he tried to shut it down because of the dangers. Man, this lady is really bad at convincing people that everything they believed was true is a lie. Her story keeps leaving gaps in which we can rationalize away any trauma it might cause us.

Of course, it also means there's a spare psycho-crystal out there, one much more dangerous and unstable than the one we have. And the Vagans are probably reverse-engineering it for use in their own super X-Rounder machine. Vagan Gear SID will be the least of our worries in Gen 3, won't it? Crosswire-verse Legilis, though, that's going to be bad.

Well, Jake's planning on using his Grail for MaG, and if Dirk ever finishes working on the nanotech, the Anti-X-Rounder system. The Vagans will probably try to use theirs on SIN and develop their own Anti-X-Rounder system, or develop the X Mode for the Ghirarga, or worse, make a berserker unit whose job is to kill any X-Rounder nearby.

Oh fuck. They're going to release that thing against Desil and his team, aren't they.
