It started with a message that spread across every electronic device on the planet. Glowing words that declared that humanity needed to prepare for a coming change. Three days later, the skies lit up with auroras of seemingly impossible colors. And echoing across the globe was a voice that no man could make. It declared that all those who had visited the website known as 4chan in the past three months were to be vacated from the planet as punishment for a crime that humanity had committed. The poor fools were given the option of carrying two hundred pounds of gear or, as an act of mercy, were allowed to take one person(and only one) and one hundred pounds of supplies for the both of them.

Those dogged survivors were given ten minutes as a wave roared across the world, swallowing them up in a curtain of light, never to be seen again...Only to seemingly in the next instant wake up upon another world.

Now exiled to a world so far from home that nothing remains the same, they are forced to scrape out a living upon a wild, untamed planet under an alien star.

Welcome to Planet 4chan.

Let's get this rolling again.

The rains are finally letting up and the swampy water around our house is receding. James is up and moving and the two of us are close to being fully functional again. We still have the problem of our skin being discolored and Phil’s making jokes about us being a Mary Sue new race on the new world, but I’m just happy to be alive. Although, I do hope it will fade away.

Our first action was to take stock of our remaining supplies. A lot of our food was spoiled due to the rain and we are still restricted to eating the fruits we’ve been harvesting. If the rain season is over I think the grass might stop providing us with the bulbous seed pods and the oranges might stop growing. We plan to head out and collect several bags full of the stuff before it begins to wilt.

I’ve still got one large woven basket of the mushrooms hidden in a hut. We plan to start cultivating them in the hut if we can find a way to provide them with a water supply.

Several of our rough fences have been washed away and will need to be replaced if we stay here. We will also have to replant our crops as the fields are now mud pits. While our first run of crops wasn’t that productive it provided us with enough seeds that we can replant our stuff anywhere. We also have seeds of the grass and oranges so we can plant them closer to our home.

Phil suggested we try to find either higher ground, or build a stronger home that we can use during the rain season as well as the dry. I tend to agree with him that our current set up is lacking in long term sustainability.
>>
>>28118901
We’ve re secured our perimeter over the past two days and confirmed that with the end of the rain season, the plant life returns to what we came here with. I haven’t seen any of the little dragons since the end of the rain and the large water snakes can’t move on solid land. Or at least I hope they can’t. The crocodile things have returned to basking beside the distant lake and don’t range into our territory any longer.

James finally agreed with us that this location is not the most optimal for survival and that we should begin exploring while the animals were still re-adapting to the dry season. After watching several animals perform various mating dances or flat out humping each other during the beginning of the rains we think they’re all either protecting eggs or young during this time. We have to be extremely careful of wandering into den’s.

Tomorrow we set out across our fields with some basic supplies, and light packs to attempt exploring in the direction of the river we saw the first crocodile at. Phil will be joining us. Let’s hope this trip turns up successful.
>>
>>28118910
We’ve now exceeded James’ normal hunting grounds. By my count we are nearly 15 kilometers away from our home and James counts it as about 10 miles so we are a decent ways from home. We’ve been following the sound of the river for most of the journey, but staying far enough away that we don’t range into a crocodile nest or any of the water snakes. There are several loud animals, a lot of bugs, and a few of the deer that taste really good with honey, but nothing overly special yet.

We sat down for half an hour to eat some of our oranges, share a grass bulb, and a little of the native honey we had put in a water bottle. During lunch Phil made a joke again about James and my skin color possibly making any humans we find think we are LARP’ing. He has a point though. I guess we can solve that issue when it arises.

After a few more hours of walking James spotted a stone tower. The tower had seen better days and several sections at the higher levels were missing stones or entire sections of the wall. At the base of the tower was a large stone building with a reinforced wooden door that was flanked on both sides by some strange winged creatures. It took all three of us to push the door in and break the rust off the hinges.
>>
>>28118930
Inside we found a single massive hall that could fit twenty people comfortably with debris from what I can only assume was the previous inhabitants scattered about the room. Either what took us from the Earth had been doing this for decades, or there was a sentient alien life form on this planet that we had yet to encounter. From the state of disrepair whoever had been here was long gone and we decided to make this watch tower our new home.

After a quick inventory of our gear, a snack, and copying our new map several times, James and Phil were going to return to our previous home and collect all of our goods while I would set up the camp here. Along the way they would deposit our new map in our glow towers should anyone manage to find them.

They set off with a few hours of daylight left. They should have enough time to return and then make the trip back tomorrow.

It has been a long time since I have been alone. The nights are a lot different when you’re left to your own thoughts. The sounds of the native wildlife that I previously didn’t even bother to mention are a lot more nerve wracking. Yelps and yawls of the smaller wildlife, at least I hope it’s the small ones, fill the night air as I sit here beside a small fire that burns inside of a massive fire pit in the middle of the great hall. I find myself constantly taking inventory of what I have. Maybe if I write it down it will help calm my nerves.

1x axe that looks like some Sharper Image super creation

1x K-Bar knife

1x Nalgene with a filtering system ¾ full of water

1x carved wooden walking stick

1x large camping bag containing
-seeds for our crops
-change of clothes
-my suit, overcoat, and dress shoes neatly folded at the bottom
-Zippo lighter
-butane lighter that’s empty
-medium sized tarp rolled around a sleeping bag and secured at the bottom
-a multitool
-crank powered flashlight retrieved from the fourth guys bag
-40ft of climbing rope and some carabineers
-10ft of a thinner rope we’ve been using as a clothes line that we pulled off a dead guy
-2 extendable hiking sticks that came from the old man in Seoul, they’re not really strong enough to use defensively but they work to prop things up

1x smaller duffel bag filled with some oranges and one last grass bulb. It also has a bottle of honey that’s down to a quarter left. In one of the outside pockets I’ve put two of the purple mushrooms in a bag. I don’t know why, but I felt like I should bring some.

Finally I’ve got a notebook and some pens. After looking at the list I just realized James has all the first aid gear. Hopefully I won't need any tonight.
>>
>>28118973
Man, you're just belting these out.
>>
>>28118973
It took nearly the entire next day for James and Phil to get back with most of our supplies. I had spent the better part of the day being watched by several of the smaller animals while working to cut down one of the smaller trees nearby. We needed fire wood for the pit if we were going to set this place up as a new home.

When James and Phil arrived I was a little depressed they hadn’t brought many of my baskets I had made. Some of them were rather big and might have required another trip back, but James said that most had been spoiled by the food left in them over the rain season. He feared the scent might have attracted unwanted attention from the local wildlife on their return trip.

Phil’s been mumbling some Gargamel puns while we work to set everything up before dark. He nearly shit himself when James and I started singing the smurf song in unison.

Tomorrow we will plant some of our crops and scout around our area. We should be able to turn this into a nice defensible position with only a little bit of work, but after finding out we aren’t the only ones here I want to keep exploring. If this is only a scout tower, what do their ruined cities look like?

I had my laptop and typed this out in a taxi on the way home. I'm done now. I've been waiting for someone to post a new thread and I finally hit critical mass and had to start my own thread.

I'm thinking this tower is one in a chain of watch towers that also includes Butterroot Keep. I'll be cleaning up the place I'm at then exploring some more now that the rain is gone.

I'm also curious about what /B/astard will do with his nurgle cult

Well, builder forts tended to be covered in stonework carvings of their glorious battles. There also might be a hidden tunnel under the place, they loved their hidden tunnels.

Anyways, I'm off to work. Hopefully this thread will be as successful as the last ones.

My body is ready

For the amount of room given, i could probably take the following.

-Gladius Machete
-Heavy Bladed Sabre
-Quarterstaff (also makes a great walking stick and hobo bag thingy)
-My Greaves, Linothorax and modern ballistics helmet (sadly i dont have a proper martial helm yet)
-Water proof Cloak, cowl and Tunic (you will never be dryer or warmer)
-Boots
-5 pairs of socks, 3 shirts, 2 pairs of pants and one jeans.
-All my leather/leathercraft supplies
-two man tent
-RAF sleeping bag
-20 pounds of rice
-about 20 pounds of tinned foods
-10L of water
-My survival straw
-Pocket Chainsaw
-Hammer
-All my nails and screws
-Tablet and Solar charger (I immediately begin uploading my survival docs onto it)
-Encyclopedia Britannia's science edition
-Magnesium firestarter
-2 queens size bedsheets
-sewing kit
-Pot, Fork and Knife and wooden spoon
-Survival Knife
-Duct Tape
-200 tomato seeds
-50 corn seeds
-Mah dog (he's a whippet so that asshole weighs like 20-30 pounds at most)
-4 Rucksacks to carry all this shit in

As soon as i get to the world, presuming im in the city, i look for any sort of tall building, one of the shitter looking ones, and hold up there until i can find anybody trustworthy and explore carefully across rooftops after dark. I use my dog, as dickish as it sounds, to test all food first unless i can find people, in which case i see if they've tried anything.

If i end up in the wilds im probably boned but i try to find a cave, HOPE TO GOD nothing is living in it then use my pocket chainsaw to saw enough logs/trees to cover up the entrance to make sure nothing can get into it besides me.

Also i got no idea how these threads are meant to work, did i do it right?

Normally corn takes about two months to grow and potatoes take three to four and rice takes even longer. We also plan to plant some of the orange bush and grass seeds we managed to bring with us, but their growth rate is completely unknown. Thankfully something is wrong with the soil here and the plants grow extremely large and they can be harvested quicker if needed.

James is going to spend the first day hunting and scouting the area for the plants we know can be eaten. Phil and I will till a field near the tower for our plants. Using the pick on the back of an axe works to break apart the ground because it’s still wet, but I would love to have an actual hoe that we could use for this work.

Our first day at the keep has been semi-productive. We ended up cutting up enough ground to plant some corn and potatoes. I also planted some of the orange bushes on the edge of the tree line and the short grass in a low ravine nearby so they can be covered by water when the rain season comes back.

James didn’t manage to kill anything. His ammo is getting low and he wants to have perfect kills to conserve it as much as we can.

We are now sitting around the firepit building some traps to try and catch some of the smaller wildlife. With more illumination I can actually see the carvings on the walls clearly. The bird creatures that stand outside the door are the previous civilization. That negates my idea that humans had been abducted for years at least. The carvings on the walls show these winged creatures, or Precursors as we started calling them, fighting off various wildlife. There are also a few that show the Precursors fighting each other. Large armies of Precursors facing off against each other with sword and halberd like a medieval fantasy. I hope they had a mutual annihilation extinction event and we won’t have to fight against these things.
>>
>>28119261
A lot of us just started assuming we were tossed into some woods and you just start writing about your experiences. This is a little bit after the first people were taken and started populating the city, so some of us have been populating areas outside the large city.

You look REALLY prepared for this. Have a look at the local flora and fauna. Some of it is terrifying and eating anything the wrong thing can make you trip balls or give you a xenoadaptation sickness that is basically dysentery.
>>
>>28119406

I just happen to have a stockpile of food and a large case of water, just incase, camping equipment and i collect weapons and armor and do abit of training too. The rest is just stuff that happens to be laying around the house and would be desirable to take in a situation like this.

I have the seeds because i was an idiot and bought them once, but hey it came through i guess.

Yeah, hence why i said if i was stuck innawoods id probably be dead meat unless i found an unoccupied cave to make my own.

IDK what to really write since my day to day life would be boring/death unless i found somebody else
>>
>>28119585
Well then create another person you find and write about what you two do. How you plan to use your material to survive. How you might have to defend your stuff from roving neckbeards who only brought laptops, cell phones, and ipods and now they want your food. Or maybe the local wildlife decides it wants your food or even to eat you. It's all up to you.

The two guys I'm writing about are completely made up. The mayor of Butterroot Keep from the last thread has 200 people in his keep and he writes from several of their perspectives.
>>
>>28119348
We don’t really have a good location to plant the rice near us anymore. The tower is on elevated land and rice needs low lying water for it to get the best nutrition. I remembered rice can also be planted in the uplands, but it won’t be as strong of a crop yield. Still, something is better than nothing and we’ve now got a decent farm growing around the tower.

Phil has been working to expand our potato and corn crops and we should have several strong harvests from the way he has planted them. He’s pulling a lot more weight this season and while he still pulls jokes on James and me for our skin, we are starting to learn more about him and he isn’t that bad of a guy.

James has been having some luck with the traps after baiting them with one of the roots in our area. He has caught a few things that remind us all of rabbits. They’ve got really strong back legs, but they also have two more sets of legs in front of those. They’re basically blind and while in the cage they try to scrape or kick free. Their face has a beak very similar to a bird. If they could see the bars they’re in they could probably eat their way out of it. Thankfully, the trap is just small enough to disorient them and they can’t figure out what they are caught inside.

Phil remembers seeing some of these at the beginning of the rain season running around on the ground from tree to tree avoiding the deep water areas. But what animal didn't we see running around during the rain season trying to hump something?
>>
>>28119261
keep in mind people are still popping into the city, often just when people aren't looking. shits weird, that said the core of the city is pretty much retaken by /tg/ as its own. The council is in the Central tower, and courtyards around it have been cleared out and turned over either to farming or training grounds.

We have been finding a lot more of the smaller animals at this new location. Aside from the small blind animals James has been catching there are also bigger versions with functioning eyes. The bigger ones are covered in actual fur. Most of the wild life we’ve seen has had some kind of feather for insulation. I want to call this thing the first mammal we’ve seen, but I think any of the Earth classifications can apply to this planet. This Furball, Ferby, oh god… hell spawned creature with 6 limbs, a beak, and red or purple fur… this is a demon Ferby come to life.

Anyways, Phil has been practicing with a sling he made and is getting pretty decent. He managed to tag one of the Ferby’s today that wandered a little too close to our crops. It’s about the size of a small dog and tastes half decent. The blind Ferby that James has been catching is a lot stringier meat so I think we might change our hunting tactics to kill the bigger ones.

The larger Ferby has a lot more skin so it is easier to skin and make something out of it. I’m starting to think James and I can use the colored furs and blend in with the environment a lot better. Well, better than I blend in now wearing the white paper hat Phil made me wear for losing a bet. Asshole.
>>
Yes..they sent an ambassador to River City. With that said there's talk of setting up an embassy after all River City is not 'part' of Kognusuan, nor Butter Root Keep and neither is Cadia.

You didn't hear about that? Apparently uptowards the singing peaks they found a bunch of third wavers working in a Builder city probably the same size as River City, it's got fucking huge walls though. That said,we need to get all these people talking to each other...and yes, talking to us. I'll make the preperations and make sure we can set something up with my guild and the scouts as well.

Still on for seeing that Show of Alias as done in Earthdawn later?
>>
I was right, the ploughing is back breaking work.

The plough itself is a series of stone wedges blades fixed to a wooden frame and a leather pulling harness. It takes three guys to work one plough, two to pull and one to push and steer.

The other bad thing about that is that I only have one plough for my farm and work can only progress as fast as the field is ploughed. Im setting up a rotating schedule, I don’t want that plough stopping during daylight even if just for an hour, that includes myself since despite my ugly mug and my missing eye I am now back in good enough shape to be doing actual work again.

However the good news is that’s not even half my workforce which means I can spread them out to other jobs. Since we are ploughing the section meant for the pumpkin patch first I have four of the others working behind the plough preparing the ground my making raised mounds of dirt spaced evenly apart. The fields have already drained nicely already but the mounds will ensure the pumpkin seeds aren’t exposed to too much moisture.

The rest have begun full work on the wall, the earthen section has been completed and we now have an earthen wall that stretches a good two hundred feet and now the stones are steadily being fitted into place.

I’ve asked the scouts to keep an eye out for any short hedgelike plants, ideally anything with thorns. I would love to be able to plant something like a proper bramble along the side or the top of the wall, natures barbed wire.

Franky looks like she’s due any day now, Drew checks by daily now and I’ve been given a bunch of supplies to keep in my house in preparation for the day.
>>
We're moving again today it seems, Wooden swords strapped to our fucking backs and All of us carrying the Mk3 bow( Now with accuracy!) That said there's talk up north of us that another couple of settlements are popping up. One's getting called Cadia and we're all laughing at that. The other is Butter Root Keep, from what we hear they fucking love orange. Anyways, we're on the Plains today, watching well...Mostly for anything that looks at us funny. It's been pretty quiet and...Ah fuck.
>>
So, I've managed to get the Radio set up. This is a test call to let River City know what's going on and should the signal Reach Kog, you fuckers own me a drink. Ha! That out of the way, things are running smooth here. It's a quaint little bunch of folks, minimal murderbeast's as well it seems, the lucky fuckers.
That in mind, I want to send a couple of their 'nobs', yeah they've also got their own sister of Battle. Takes a little getting used to. Whatever, I want to send some of their dedicated millitants down to Kog and get them hunting mazda's and swinging everyone's favorite. Till then Hooah.
>>
So what is this thing?
>>
>>28119945
its a series of threads of glorious Writefaggotry. The pdf in the first couple of posts is something of a primer, letting people know about shit in our neck of the world as well as major settlements. It's basically a shared world/creative outlet/possible campaign setting dealio.
>>
So...are there any rules?
>>
>>28119864

Franky gave birth last night.

Eight brands new puppies were born over the course of the night, one of which provided some complications but Drew being the magnificent hero he is managed to turn the thing properly so that it came out safely, those six limbs do not make birthing any easier.

The Franken puppies themselves are surprisingly small, not even as long as my forearm and also lacking any noticeable plumage or coloration yet, all of them were pale blue at birth but only an hour since and the colours are already darkening.

Franky pulled through all right, she’s a bit weak but still alive after the ordeal. And holy hell I have to look after eight puppies until they are weaned off of the mothers milk, which is blue by the way, and can get them to their new owners.

Gonna spread the news and let the chosen few know they’ll be getting their frankenpuppy. Im not sure who else besides the Cannoness is adopting one but I know Becca has decided to adopt and I can understand why, a horse sized hunting dog would be pretty useful.

No sign of any proper hedges by the scouts but they have found these vines growing on some cliff sides, they grow in clumps, the vines are remarkably tough and have these long thick barbs on them which are covered by large number of blossoms, which depending on the vine are red, yellow or white.

I’ve had some guys go out with the scouts and dig up a couple, we’ll see if they transplant well.
>>
>>28119945

Basically, there is a specific kind of thread where a bunch of people have to grab some supplies and get sucked into another world. Wat do?

We have them fairly often. For some reason, a couple of years ago a bunch of guys drafted up a specific world that they got sucked into and became super successful in called Lenore. It has been (I think) nearly three years now and it refuses to die. Only go to sleep.

Its basically impossible to get into unless you want to read the encylocpedia they have drafted up by now, and there is so much forward momentum on it that unless you want to take things in the same direction they have already decided they want to go, there isn't much point in speaking up.

Its one of those things that has become better to watch than participate in, I'm afraid.
>>
>>28120015
Not really, well, be reasonable, dont be a mary sue.

You can join most settlements without much trouble and write from that perspective or remain in your own group.

/tg/ settlements known:
Kognusa
Cadia
Rivertown
Butteroot Keep
The Tower of the Three Caballeros

Or you could write about a different boards area like /b/ which spawned many /b/arbarians in the initial writing and is now being explored in its own right by the /B/astard and his nurgle cult.

But mostly have fun and write what you want.
>>
>>28120077
>>28120067
You might be right, but its alos gotten to the point that you dont have to start from scratch in Lenore, just add a little backstory and drop into one of the settlements as you wish.

That being said I don't think we have anyone actually in Rivertown or Cadia at the moment so those places are open to direction.
>>
>>28120067
that's saying a bit much, I mean it's a little daunting but, its not like there isn't info readily accessible. That Pdf for example it gives you a quick over view of what you're liable to run into. It still needs fleshing out for sure but that's half the fun. Fleshing the world out and there's still literally dozens of other locations that people woke up in that haven't really been touched on yet. I mean look /k/ shit there will be all sorts of messed up.
>>
>>28120116
We haing a serious discussion, in my Lenore thread? Please.

He's right though, there aren't really any limitations on what you might run into, theres a few things eeryone is 'likely' to run into but thats just the case with any setting.

You dont need to know squat about other settlements really just the world and if you start in your own area (which is not hard Lenore is big) then you can decide for yourself if you have to deal with.

And if you do want to deal with other settlements just read the most recent posts, that will let you know what level they are at and what they are doing at the moment.

So yeah the onyl thing I recommend reading is the pdf and only really to skim it at that.
>>
>>28120077
>Caballeros
wait... is that my guys?
>>
>>28120164
I think so, which one of you is Donald duck?
>>
>>28120116

Maybe, but even that means still going along with what has come before.

The setting has been made. The rules have been set. There is a timeline and a civilization already. There comes a point where previously established continuity is the death of new ideas, and when the premise is "grab stuff and explore a new world" the world already being explored before you get there kind of makes it worthless.

Lenore threads will always be most interesting to those who were involved with Lenore from the ground up, because that was when the interesting stuff happened. Everything after the initial setup of the world is just more of the same, agreeing to play with the toys you have been given.
>>
>>28120160
I've been pulling what I want or need from the pdf as I need or want it. Still don't wana fuck with the rapedactyl, the fish, or the bugs... but I'm starting to pull more of the small game into the actual picture instead of handwaving it like I did in the beginning.

>>28120171
Actually, I be Purplebeard, and me laddy over here is Blackeye, my first mate! That white guy in the background is Whitey, our poopdeck swabber. Bit of a spoiler this be actually... as I was about to reveal my new pirate hat to me mates and dub Blackeye my firstmate. Sadly, I can no longer do that now.
>>
>>28120160
So the frankenpuppies, or scalewolf young, as Im being told I should call them, seem to be blind at birth and their claws haven't properlly grown yet.

They have teeth though, didn't at first but its been two days and they already have sharp little barb like teeth.

The book on them is mostly finished, really its just a small pamphlet with notes on common behaviour I've seen, what they might expect and what they like to eat.

In very strange news, that stone worker, yeah the one I tasked with the massive boulder, has been hammering away at the boulder for weeks now, chipping away at the structure. I suppose he was planning on carving a statue, of what I have no idea but what I do know is that half way through a day of ploughing we heard a scream come from over by his work area. We ran wondering what the hell was wrong and it turns out he’d managed to remove a large section from the side of the rock, revealing what definitely looks like the outline of an arm encased in more stone and dirt but definite hints of metal show through.

He’s upset, he wanted to create a statue of a buterroot for our ‘town square’ I told him I understand and we’ll give him any great boulders we might find again but I managed to convince him to continue chipping away at this thing.

I've got to go tell the Mayor about this thing.
>>
>>28120173
This is true, but isn't that a fact of any setting? Besides there's still waves to come of people coming into the setting, its true they've now gotta deal with previous human activity but that's not always a bad thing and as said there's a lot of room to play with those toys in.
>>
>>28120173
I am one of the newest writers, as is the Mayor of Butterroot Keep.

Like we said, the only part has been explored is the general area around /tg/ and any discovered facts are just what conclusions we have made.

There is nothing stopping new people jumping in at there own spot and doing some fresh.
>>
>>28120226
Actually now that I think about it, Expat and the /B/astard are even newer, yet here we are making the biggest contributions.
>>
>>28120173
Meh, I still haven't written a meeting with other people and only recently decided I wanted to encounter a Builder ruin.

I know at times my writing was shit, but I'm still having fun writing about these three guys stuck in the woods doing their own thing.

As for playing with the toys you've been given. Whose to say the Builders were the first civilization this happened to? Just because we dig up some Roman artifacts doesn't mean they're the first people on the Earth. As long as the person follows some reason with their pre-builders they want to create I'd be fine with it.

However, if they start digging up railguns, mechs, and power armor then I might get upset.

Yeah, but they havent been dug up by the droves, they are clunky as hell and still killable, they all currently exist in the hands of the guilds in Kog.

True, though killable is hard to tell. That said I would kill to see a short piece of one being used to fight a yowler head on.

Is there any sort of run down on how the city is run and what its like?

Also, i forgot to add my shield to my list. Its heavy and basicly fills up all my excess poundage, but its big enough to act as a table AND shelter.
>>
>>28120372
Its Set up with a council of the elected 'guild' leaders running things. There's several including a farmers, entertainers, Supply etc. They control basically general sweeps of what is going on, building projects, what the military is doing(the scouts the exploration branch and Rangers/outriders the guys who actually serve as hunters, hauling in newbs ect.) From there. we got the guilds in various parts of the city along with places such as at least one tavern and an armory located near Central Supply basically a clearinghouse of anything and everything.
>>
>>28120372

Its run by guilds in charge of each kind of work with a council ruling hte city, if im not mistaken.

They have a policy of searching out newbies during expected waves, dragging them back to the city and taking their stuff to be used by the city. During this time they are told whats happening, what the city is and what they will likely be doing should they have any skills.

They do get to eventually get their personal stuff back but alot of their stuff will be used to increas Kog supplies
>>
>>28120423
We have cats, that's a pretty notable thing as well. As well as several farms including a project to domesticate Tortolo a native heard animal, (think gaseous bullette like animal). Aside from that we do have forges, as well a few outposts including a mining camp, and a place to boil salt water out for salt to use in food. Beyond that have fun, oh and there's also the Entertainer's guild which is Gms, Playwrights.Larpers, etc.

Things I can bring:

Netbook w/ 2 chargers
Dissecting Microscope
One-handed bearded axe
Unsharpened dirk
Assorted textbooks on
- Geology
- Meteorology
- Entomology
- Cellular Biology
- Genetics
Some food.
Assorted tools from the house.

I have very few things that would possibly be useful.

>>28120483

You have stuff that is massively useful, just not in a short term survival situation is all.

Day ??80

The men are training with the new weapons, we’ve managed to get them to form something like a formation.

They’ll never be a fucking phalanx but they can manage a raggedy ass sheltron and the spears length should help.

But really they only function as cover for the men with the big forward curving swords we found, these things are nasty and some of the men have been testing them out in our new arena, a knee deep pit surrounded by rocks and wooden spikes, against some of the slaves.

In the hands of a strong man I’ve seen them nearly bisect a man. They will be unholy terrors on the field

Day ??81

The men killed another couple of those six legged snake things again, they’ve spread the black stuff everywhere, the whole cathedral smells of the stuff.

Its rank as shit but really its not any worse than the smell the camp usually drags with it.

Day ??83

Men are getting restless, they like the Cathedral and with the new hunting practices we’ve managed to feed ourselves but they want another fight.

That’s fine, our scouts have reported that there is something of a settlement in a valley in the north east, not too far from us, they settled into some ruins of their own and are even farming.

That’s perfect. If we can enslave some good farmers we can set up our own serfs here around the cathedral.

We march tonight.
>>
>>28120483
>Dissecting Microscope

that tool alone would be incredibly valuable, is it an optic or electronic one? I mean literally that would allow work to be done to understand the nature of the life forms here that would be more in depth than anything so far done most likely.
>>
Me and the lads found a small settlement today set up around some old builder mansion or fort, its abit hard to tell the difference between them from what we've seen so far. Only about a dozen people who'd come from kog had settled it as some sort of Farm post and they weren't exactly thrilled to see a band of armed men approaching and some asshole decided to fire before i even got to say two words.

After backing off i explained to them we're traveling tradesmen, i can handle leather, Cameron is a doctor (Ive long since discovered its best leaving out the fact he was an animal doctor) and Jeremy is a great carpenter. Was able to trade them a couple of leather vests for some food and in return for showing them the basics of combat with basic spears (sharpened wood really) we were able to get a book, history of germany. They didn't seem to think much of it, but 10 years from now all that oldworld information is going to be more expensive than gold. If we ever find gold...
>>
>>28120568
the first battle of Cadia? Also a side note, All of the cathedral is likely covered in carvings. should be interesting to see what your cultists make of that.
>>
>>28120483
Just remember you have to last long enough to survive and keep those things intact in the same time.

Most people didn't start with everything, hell my guy started with nothing but fishing gear he had on his fishing trip and now he's the priest of nurgle.

The only thing you 'really' want to bring more than anything, is an early supply of food and water, a bag, clothes and 'something' sharp.

It also doesn't have to be you, this is more about writefagging an interesting survival/civilization story than necessarily having to be you.
Bonus points for doing that though

Basically my warband is filling in the power vacuum after the massive warband that was the /b/ horde moved south in search of plunder.

Also I need a name for the warband, any suggestions?

Kog and River City: Leather Vests made from Deadly animal hide.
Cadia: Tortello Armor
Butteroot: ORANGE EVERYTHING! FUCKING EVERYTHING!

The Cathedral: Old world rags and scraps
of leather made from animal and human skin. Also trophy spikes, those get all the hot cultist chicks.

Got back to the cave to drop off the supplies we earned. Whole bunch of food, some metals and decent wood to make more spears and shields from. Welcome was as grand as usual, Joey sitting at the entrance we had covered up with logs and vines to hide it, blowing that fucking horn of his to let everybody know. God dammit Joey.

But, its good to be back after 2 weeks travel, and while we only have 40 people in our little 'polis', i like it alot better than kog. I at least know everybody here properly, know they'll help me out in a stitch and i dont have to worry about giving any gear 'for the greater good'.

Tam has another 5 bows made already. five!! Along with enough arrows for us to turn a Tortolo into a pin cushion. He gave me shit for my leather plumage id stuck into my helmet and i gave him shit for being some kind of bowman faggot.

Its good to be back at the Polis.

Seriously what the fuck is up with that? They're alien bird people and they dig a huge network of tunnels? Were they that sick of the wildlife?
>>
>>28120777
Well we are monkey people and we did large networks of tunnels as well
>>
We're calling this particular Yowler, scarface. He's proven to be something of a nuisance and has gone so far to take down and drag away one of the Tortolo young on the 'ranch'...in broad daylight. I'd like you to understand yowler normally are stupidly aggressive, and constantly pissed off. But, this bastard is a whole other level. He's a plague on Kog as of late. Did I mention he's big? I mean fucking huge, damn near twenty feet long snout to fucking tail. We've never encountered such a monster this close to the walls. And it's out there...right now, watching us. We've seen what few quick snapshots we've gotten with scouts using their phones. It's a nasty piece of work. Which is why I'm here to request that we mobilize the Titan protocol. We did put it in place for similar situations didn't we?
>>
Band of travelers came by today. about 2 dozen of them, most wounded in some way and carrying what seemed to be all of their possessions they had left with them. Things got abit tense as the scouting party tried to turn them away before they got near the cave entrance, but these people were in no shape to travel the good 3 day trip to Kog.

After bringing up another 10 guys in full gear they saw how outmatched their axes and leather hide was, but i only needed that to get them to put their shitty weapons and tools down to bring them back to the cave.

Mary is still grating my fucking ear about letting a bunch of strangers in but the woman doesn't seem to remember thats exactly how we met. Turns out there was a raid at a larger Farm about 2 days from here. Three of the poor buggers are dead already from their wounds Cameron thinks the rest should make it. While mary wants to get them going down to Kog as soon as possible, we're still making the vote tomorrow to see if the rest of the Polis will accept their request to stay. Gonna have to make another trade run to get more food and let Kog know about the raid, but in the meantime we're gonna get them working the 'Shroom farms so we can take a few extra folk out for Patrols.

If there's raiders near here that were big enough to take on a settlement of our size, i cant be in the dark.
>>
>>28120816
yeeeeesssss
>>
>>28120816
Words been passed along the rosevine. we've been told to get one of the 'titans' ready to move. Apparently they've had issues with a yowler and think this might even the playing field. I honestly fucking think it's just an exscuse to use a giant robot to punch an alien monster. Whatever, our smiths are currently working on retrofitting a weapon and shield for it. They're thinking a fucking halberd and tower shield combo and have had the workshops toiling away day and night while try to find a mote that's got enough juice to last in the fight. Which means we're tracking down the glowiest damn rock we can find.
>>
>>28120888
Someone gave the gigant teams red robes. I want to know who.

why?

So I can fucking slap them. We don't need to be praising no Omnissiah. There's also a vote being cast as to what to call this one. Apparently The suit we sent to Cadia is now called Invitca. Fucking hell.

(though no seriously the fuck do I call this?)
>>
Jeremy is dead.

Cameron is hurt, but not really any more so than me. We got down to kog easily enough and they were even kind enough to give us a fair amount of supplies to load up the Tortolo with to deal with the influx of people, not wanting one of 'their forward outposts' to be starved out.

Did the usual trade run on the way back, ended up getting a pretty good haul. Got hit as we passed in through a valley about a day out from home. They thought the eight of them with fucking stone and wood clubs and some shitty spears could take all of. Feathered 3 of them before they even got on us and put the rest to the sword. Armor is abit scruffed up, first time since coming through that this actually saw any real action and its held together nicely. Cameron's hide stuff looks even better. Jeremy took a spear to the eye, lucky shot when one thought he was a fucking Olympian.

Got his body back to the Polis and added yet another Carin to our 'burial chamber' as its become known. 12 so far, but this place is big enough to hold probably about twice that amount in this one chamber. I hope it takes us decades to fill it and we only lost so many in the chaos of the first year.

Day ??85

We charged in howling and screaming, cut down a few men on the farm and those we caught outside the gates but they reacted fast.

Soon as they heard us they were retreating back behind their walls with everything they could carry.

We’ll crack them in no time.

Day ??86

Fuck these assholes are tough.

They have a proper town guard set up patrolling the walls with what I think are recurve short bows and peppering our men with arrows anytime they get close.

I want to mount a charge for the walls with the trees like with the Cathedral but I don’t like the odds with bows like that.

We settling in for a siege now, I’ve had the slaves collect what they could from the field, mostly a lot of seed, its planting season aparantly, and tools.

But they have farms inside the walls as well, I get the feeling we are going to have to break them conventionally.
Day ??87

We did attempt an escalade at night, as quite as possible.

The noticed and we lost a good thirty men on that waste of time.

Day ??90

Sieges are fucking dull.

Day ??91

S’ndra is a genious.

She had a group of slaves cut down some large trees and bind them together, then with the thatch and wood from the fram hovels around the town she turned the wooden frame into a movable piece of cover big enough to cover two groups of men with hand held battering rams.

They’re walls might be tall and strong but the gate is newer and made from wood, it will break and we will swarm into the city!

The baits been laid out. we've cleared the aquifer plains and have laid out an injured...christ it won't just won't shut up. Either way we laid out and injured a Torotolo Calf, one of the meaner of the bunch we've had so far. So now it's wait and see. It's gotta be hungry and this is too easy to pass up. The gigant...Bjorn is waiting in a nearby stand of trees, hunkered down, the pilot, or princeps as some of the goddamned science boys are calling him is One of our Scout novices. He apparently Plays a lot of battletech. Hopefully that'll help him out. So now its a waiting game for this asshole of a monster.
>>
Everybody is fucking jubilant, its like when we realized how to start growing the 'Shrooms in the cave and not have to worry about farming outside. After losing Jeremy, i ramped up the scouting to find whoever the fuck was responsible. But, mostly because they're clearly getting closer and while the cave is well hidden, i dont think the rest of the folks here understand exactly how vulnerable we are if we get discovered by these assholes.

Tam came back, found their camp and said there was about 20 or so of them and it was like a scene out of a movie, bunch of savage looking assholes eating meat and drinking with weapons all around as well as loot. Took out 20 of the folks in full gear, although Mary was pissed yet again, this time for me taking almost half of the 'trustworthy' folk while the refugees were still settling in. Everybody knows how to defend themselves and has armor and weapons, so i saw no problem.

Followed Tam to the camp and got there after dark. Fucking amateurs had an open fire which would have killed their night vision, most of them sleeping and their few guards seemed to be drunkingly gambling. We got into position, feathered the guards but weren't able to stop them from putting up a call, feathered most of the rest of the guys and only had to run a couple through with spears. Well, at least until the actual raiding party got back while we were checking for survivors to put down. They came out of the trees like fucking wildmen and almost overwhelmed us until i got everybody into the shieldwall. They hit us with arrows, clubs and spears and a few weapons that looked better crafted, but overall our gear and training seemed to pay off. 3 dead, 8 wounded to their 40 something dead.

Was able to free some prisoners though, about 3 dozen folk, some from that farm that got raided a month back. More mouths to feed now.

>>28121158
They don't tell you how uncomfortable these things are. I'm hanging inside this damn machine, the Mote within a hands reach, I'm told I'll get the signal to slot it and go. It's apparnetly got three minutes worth of power. Plenty.
I've studied this thing top to bottom, I've got a feel for what I can do in it. The gauntlet they've fitted to the left arm is a nasty pieces of work, three blades extended off the wrist and a fourth attached where the 'thumb' goes allowing for a pincer action. The shield is nice too, someone ordered it special hauling logs from the night mare forest. Shits almost as good as metal durable as all hell and big enough where it can keep any joints covered. I can feel this thing, its almost alive, its so damn old. Probably older than anything I'd understand and here I am hanging inside of it, waiting...
>>
>>28121205
It came in the night. OH sweet christ I just want to go back to the city.Fuck I mean FUCK. Anyways, alright.

It came in the night, right as the last fucking rays of SunII were going down and then WHAM it burst out of the forest like a bat out of hell. It didn't go for the tortolo either, it shot right past towards where some of the Rangers were stationed. Needless to say things went poorly from there. Twenty feet of pissed off monster seething with rage and nothing short of a murder boner.

I'll reiterate it shot past the bait and went for some of the men that we thought we had hidden. Thankfully Bjorn walked. What happened next was...Forgive I'm still trying to understand what the fuck I just saw.
>>
>>28121242
Bjorn, the gigant, the titan. Our Princeps inside charged. I want you to think for a second what that means. You've seen animals charge big ones no doubt. But this was different in those bloody last glimmers of the day Bjorn, a twelve foot tall hulk of machinery with our man inside CHARGED, on two feet. It burst out of the brush, the world quaking as it literally tackled the yowler. The shield pinning it to the ground while the men got the fuck out of the way. I've never seen a machine move like that, it was just as fluid as if it was alive. The beast got out from under and tried to attack with that damn tail of its. I've seen them take chunks out of trees with that thing. It cracked the shield but by that time Bjorn, had gotten in close and used that damn claw, it got it in the head, gripping it tight that fucking second skull preventing a killing blow but giving it leverage. I watched as the two wrestled and finally as the last bit of the mote was running out, it raised the yowler up and smashed its spine on a knee.

for a few seconds there was silence. And then we heard the cheering of the lucky bastards nearby. Now all we gotta do is get Bjorn back to the city, and the princeps out of the fucking thing.
>>
So apparently im a god damn Chief now instead of just being 'the face of the cave'.

With damn near 100 people, it was decided that we should have a leader to make things easier to organize as well as take care of any increased raids from the north, we heard that Cadia got besieged again but that was about all there was other than that. I was going to put Tam forward, but before i even opened my mouth he started preaching to the crowd about how my leadership 'Won the battle of the Midnight Clearing' and 'The ambush of Hidden Valley'. Cameron just sat there in the front row giggling his ass off before joining in with an 'AYE' along with almost everybody else.

So fantastically now when stuff goes wrong, they can blame me!! Hu-fucking-ray. At least Mary is happy with the outcome and was kind enough to 'show her gratitude' for the first time in some time. For now im going to organize a run to Butter Root keep to let them know about the raiding if they dont know already as well as get another trade run into Kog. The people want Kog to know that 'Hadespolis' is independent. Thats where i found out that even as Chief i dont even get to be incharge of everything.

Scouts spotted a large band of armed men, but they didn't seem the same but they didn't seem friendly. Tam is getting good at being unseen.

A group of traders to our north has declared themselves 'self governing' This is getting out of hand people. We need to start reigning this in otherwise we'll end up like Greece. I'd prefer to not worry about our neighbors after what happened in Cadia. It doesn't help we apparently have had reports of both Raiders and activity to the north that lead us to believe Something is happening. we're taking precautions and scouring the land as fast as we can. In time we hope to establish some sort of control over this little polities. But for now, we play nice. We let them run themselves and we'll handle the heavy lifting...for the greater good.
>>
Well the meeting at Kog didn't go too well. I went myself just to be safe, plus i was getting sick of answering every damn question. Considering how well we got along without everybody differing to me, you think they could keep on going about it. The Council said i was more than welcome to apply for a position and they'll put through a vote, but everybody made it clear we're remaining independent though so i made the stance. I thought they may have arrested me but they simply dismissed me, although they never gave any of the customary supplies this time.

'Hadesopolis'...god dammit i wish i never brought my god damn Greek armor and Hoplon, nor told them of stories of Greek mythology during the lonely nights...is starting to expand into lower levels of the caves now. We've expanded the rear barrier, as far as we know we dont know if theres anything down here but us but im sure as hell not taking the risk. Ive decided we need to scout it out properly if we're going to become an actual town as opposed to a bunch of people hiding in a cave.

Been sometime since any raiders have been seen, but ive kept the scouts out none the less. We really need to get some faster mounts than tortolos if we want to do any real, fast scouting.
>>
>>28121011

Day ??92

Have you ever seen a town sacked? Its beautiful.

Screaming cries of terror, blood and fire. Everywhere, all from my orders, everyman in this city lives and dies on my word. The power is practically intoxicating.

We broke those gates down and when we did we charged, breaking through their defensive line and the small palisade theyd built behind it.

They called this place Bastion, a refuge from the horros of /b/. But we wore them down and crushed them in the end.

After that it was hours upon hours of men charging through the streets and fields burning, pillaging and raping. I made sure my Acolytes were moving through the worst of it, rounding up survivors and those that surrendered.

They would be slaves or warriors by tomorrow morning but anything else, anyone who resisted now that the gate had fallen would be meat.

Day ??95

The Nurgling horde is marching back to the cathedral with new slaves in tow.

A detachment has been left to oversee the proper submission of the town proper, one of my generals, one of the Forsaken, was pronounced Overseer and is to establish a proper method of servitude of the newly enslaved population.

She had already started with the first executions as we marched out of the city.

Those we bring back with us are meant to establish the first farms in the Cathedral, those who refuse will serve as the first sacrifices to christen the Catherdral altar.
>>
They call themselves the Firsters, And in a sense they may very well be right as they're our first fucking political party. Apparently they've based they're idea on First wavers having the right to settle and control the settlements well..first. As they were here first and they paved the way for the others. It's a pretty shaky claim but, they hold to it fast. The worst part is there are at least two council members in that party, nominally elected of course by their guilds. It's fucking insane we don't even have a god damn goverement really and these idiots are parading about saying that we(the first wave) need to be in control of the situation. Thanks to them we're probably on Shaky footing with Polis now, Either way our 'embassy' is almost finished being set up.We'll send for delegates from the settlements that are willing to talk and open up formal trade negotiations.

We also have started backing and minting the first currencies here, backed by the gurantee of central supply. Each 'gem' in reality for the time being a literal piece of quartz as we have so much of the damn stuff laying around is worth one loaf of moss bread or a bottle of vodka. It's simple but we're thinking that will at least start conforming the trading going on inside the city. Apparnetly Central Supply is immune to politics and has barreled ahead just labeling the values of items in bread and booze. Fucking miracles right?
>>
>>28120194
That could be a fun storyline. Do what you like with it, just remember there are ex-builder worshipers in the town. They're basically converted now for a minimum of drama (I was thinking of a story like this being done eventually) but they're still there.

I always figured there were builder artifacts in the wilderness at their old camp, but we left them out there to reduce social instability. Also because it's unlikely we'd figure them out without mechanical engineers.

>>28120226
Yep.

Basically if you want to do something different than the established cities, just say your guy is in an area off the beaten path where the animals and plantlife are different. You want to found your own city? DO. It's cool to have more cities up and running. Gives me someone to trade with and interact with. And that's fun! You can also join one of the established cities like Butterroot Keep.

I'd like to play out setting up a /tg/ cities alliance eventually, but I'd need someone actively playing the leadership of River City/Kog to do that, since I don't want to write other people's cities agreeing to things right off. I could certainly invent lots of reasons for things not to go too smoothly, but that would once again require me to basically take control of their leader characters actions, and I'd rather not.

Not that any of the leaders of Kog or River City are defined.

Day ?? 109

The Cathedral has the look of a true place of worship now.

The slaves have pulled many of these glowing green rocks from the ground and we have tied them with rope so that they hang down on the walls lighting them through the night.

The front gates of the wall actually have three large crudely wrought metal rings, the remnants of trashed pikes, forming Nurgles mark proclaiming his blessing to all who see it.

We even have large murals of our own painted in blood, ichor and charcoal along with the carvings done by who ever built this place.

My acolytes have been busy creating interpretations for all of them that fit with out worship, anything that looks to be healing, is the blessing of Nurgle, battles are the blessing of Khorne, there is even some talk of the Prince of Pleasure in the large mural of an orgy of strange creatures in one of the lower level halls.

I have started to send out 'priests', newly converted recruits who survive the 'Rot', they are being sent to neighbouring tribes with a small escort to spread the word.

Any who come to worship at the temple will come to no harm. This way we should attract new recruits and make the superstitious tribes fear divine punishment.

Day ?? 115

The first have allready arrived, we converted two dozen new warriors before the day was over.

S'ndra says the sentries spotted more campfires on the horizon.

And so the word spreads.

Glorious. I should write some more today and continue my quest for a boat. Kog isn't a port town is it?
>>
>>28122531
We're getting word past the walls of Cadia. Something is going on and it's not looking good. Stop.
>>
>>28122539
no, though it does have the salt camp on the coast line.
>>
>>28122583
Gotcha. Someone is going to have to build a port eventually and a shipyard I think.
>>
>>28122643
Kog is trying to locate a Builder port first, as that would save us a lot of trouble. Really, they try to use ruins first and foremost as they tend to be durable and last longer than wooden structures. This has led to some weird trends such as Rangers using repurposed Builder arms and armor as well.

Day ?? 120

We've had a few scuffles with some aggressive tribes who aren't happy with the growing power we represent but even the largest group were broken against our pikes.

The Nurgling Horde was never huge, we had decent numbers but what made us dangerous but its these new weapons and my line of leadership that has meant the difference between us and these worthless maggots.

All the other warbands are practically savages and only their best have metal weapons, let alone armor.

They just end up charging and getting caught on our pike lines and getting butchered by the swordsmen in between.

Its fucking beautiful single everytime.

Day ?? 129

Other tribes who have seen our success are flocking to us now, asking to be integrated and be given the blessing of Nurgle.

Our numbers are growing so fast I've had to organize the annexation of neighbouring territory to sustain our numbers.

Thats not a problem though, my men have been spoiling for another fight.
>>
>>28122662
Aha.
>>
>>28122792
Yeah, it also would help as it'd likely be a natural harbor.

True or one of the island based boards, hard to tell honestly. We've had past visits from assholes in boats though they weren't as violent. Also, keep the thread alive boys I'm gonna be off on a walkabout and pondering just how fucked The firsters are going to make what passes for Politics.

Lab dissection of as-of-yet unknown species of Tortolo. If you could even call this a lab. The walls are busted up and leak in some places, and my only source of light is by my desk lamp from back home.

Well, they want a dissection, they'll get one.

The specimen appears to be much smaller than known Tortolo specimens, around 2.5 m long, 1.5 m wide, and 1 m in height. Specimen weighs...a shit ton. Side note: Reinvent metric system.

Specimen appears to have been mauled by some manner of creature. Not surprising, since they found it as a carcass.

Skin is tough, although appears to be softer in nature than known Tortolo specimens, with small, but noticeable pores spaced regularly along its skin, with a large concentration along the dorsal axis. No pores found on the ventral axis. Let's take a look see. Huh, these are pretty nice scalpels, my complements to the metallurgist.

Opening up a pore reveals a follicle leading down deeper into the organism a short distance, leading to some manner of bone. The bony protrusion appears to be connected to the base of the follicle, on what seems to be a muscle bed.

Day ??140

We have armor!

I don’t mean like our scavenged armor but freshly made, one of the tribes had figured out how to prepare and treat the hide off of the snake beasts, Yowlers aparantly, and craft it into effective boiled leather armor.

We’ve started hunting the things down and have a quasi-efficient production line set up to outfit the troops.

It’s a damn good thing as well, because we’ve been getting reports of other tribes banding together in the western hills.

Day ??144

More reports coming in from the scouts, they’ve discovered news of other settlements, from other boards aparantly. This area is all /b/ but to the north there is /g/ country of all things, to the far west /v/ and to the south through the mountains /tg/, sitting behind the walls of a place called Cadia.

Heh, they’re fucking taunting us and they know it.

Day ??147

Looks like those reports are right, there are groups banding themselves together to confront the Nurgling horde.

They call us mad and deranged savages, call our minds warped for believing in Chaos.

Idiots, of course it’s a loud of bullshit, but it helps keep the masses in check and following my word as law.

What tickles me is that they don’t want to fight us because of religion, or to stop the growing horde of monster, they just see us as encroaching on their turf. This is going to be a fucking gang war. Hah, this is priceless.

They wont lat long though, we have a burgoing industry, even if it is slaver based, that is supporting us and feeding us as we march, they have to make do with foraging on the move and we can make that hard for them by poisoning the water and stripping the land where we stop.

This will be a bloody war, but it wont be a long one.
>>
>>28123367

Removed the bone. It appears to be around 3 cm in length, with extensive muscle attachment near the base. Tip appears to be serrated. Very thin though, only about as thick as a sewing needle.

Hmm, I think I have an idea of what these are for. Let's run a test.

AGH, Damn it! Looks like I was right. application of electrical current to muscle bed under bone results in contraction, thrusting bony protrusion through follicle and right into my fucking hand. Should've been more careful. Dammit, I think I need a medic.

Final thoughts, bony needles most likely used in defensive capacity, activated either consciously or through stress response. Needles enter skin of aggressor and break of within the skin, causing intense pain. There might be poison involved, I'm pretty sure this shouldn't be hurting this badly. Bony needles are probably regenerated over time when used.

Fuck, this hurts. Need to go see a doctor or something.

<Audio Begins>

Alright, two days later. It's only began to smell a little bit.

The spines contained within the follicles are definitely poisonous. A mild paralytic, impaired motion of my hand for a couple days before wearing off. I just count myself lucky it wasn't something more lethal.

In any case, let's move on to the vertebral column. Dorsal axis of vertebral column appears expanded as compared to ventral axis. Seems this thing expects attacks to come from above. The vertebrae are...weird. Nothing like what's back home. It looks closest to bird vertebrae. But four articular surfaces instead of two. So, it should probably be called diheterocelous vertebrae, if I remember my nomenclature correctly. Whatever this thing was, it had some major flexibility. Possibly for climbing? I can only make guesses at this point.

Moving on, skull is... broken open. Not much use here. The entire front half of this thing has been mauled.

Taking a look at the legs, it seems to have a plantigrade stance, along with fairly short legs, so this thing was not built for running. Most likely not a hunter.
>>
>>28124479

And now for the worst part, the viscera.

Just flipping this thing is going to be a bitch.

<grunting, panting, and impacts are heard>

Well...can't be that heavy...I could sort of lift it on my own. Enough to flip it at least.

Let's have a look at your guts. Opening up the...<coughing fit> Fuck, stomach. Oh God, that's foul. God I wish I didn't need to breath. Looks like, mostly plant matter, although there does appear to be some meat in here. So, primarily herbivore but won't turn down meat. Might be a scavenger, or oppurtunistic omnivore. There still seems to be some stomach acid hanging around, judging by the burning sensation on my hands. Man, I would fucking kill for some good latex gloves.

<Washing noises>

Moving cranial, looks like this thing has a gizzard, judging by the fact that this pouch with rocks. And... what the hell is that? I've reached the mauled area, there appears to be some manner of mucus. The only way I can describe it is like liquid spider web. It's all over the wound sites.

Hmm, if I had to guess, this substance is a clotting agent, possibly reactive to the air to form the matrix and prevent blood loss and infection. Or it might react under some other conditions. I have no way to tell. Either way, this creature has a pretty good clotting mechanism. Can't be sure how fast it works though.

Well, I can't really do much more with this. Dissection concluded.

Stuck in bed for a couple of weeks now. Took a spear to the calf that cut straight through my greaves during the large fixed skirmish we had with more Raiders. Took out "The firsts spears" to meet a large band which had pushed refugees into our area again. It was about our 50 against just around 100 of them and we swept them up prrtty damn easy, only one dead to their 30 so.

Was able to capture some wounded. Sent most down to kog but kept one for info. Apparntly some really Large /b/ warband got split and forced south by a Larger one. Going to send off an expedition as soon as mary lets me out of this damn bed.
>>
I've spent the day touring the workshops. After the first battle of Cadia Kognusuan decided that we, though technically independent needed backing. To that end they've helped us re-equip many of our workshops for the grisly art of war. From my foundries do not come plowshares but rather rather the scything blades of swords and axes. Builder armors are refitted and retrofitted and Even now we re-invent weapons from our ancestors past. My walls are now manned by sentries wielding the Scorpion, a light ballista, pots of pitch are readied for flaming arrows and we distill poisons to taint the enemy. We are now a fortress devoted to our art.

When I commanded upon those battelements and from my bed, I knew this was to be the way of things. My city would not know peace, nor would I. I've adopted the Rank of Castellan and intend to be the first in a long line.
>>
>>28125930
We have gathered to us the motes which power the armor known as Invicta and have requisitioned Armor known as Bjorn the fell handed to accompany us. I've seen the fires in the dark, I've dealt with the barbarians past my gates. There vile things lurking beyond my walls to the north and I shall not, cannot let them reach the south lands. This is my cities purpose, this is my purpose. The river to our west blocks their easy crossing and the sea to our east as well. It is through us that any great horde must past. We are the gate of the south. The door of the singing peaks and we challenge them to try and pry us open. We send now calls to arms to what few settlements we call our own. The Rangers in their mountain keep watch from on high and the scouts wandering the trackless forests follow us behind. But us Cadians we will show them A face of grim resolve.
>>
It sounds like Cadia's living up to the name at least.
>>
There are too many of these to put out screencaps, just throw them in a pdf or something.
Anyways, random information.
Kog and Rivertown have power generation, mainly used for recharging electronics.
Kog uses rigged up waterwheels on the aqueduct and windmills on some of the taller buildings.
Rivertown has solar panels someone brought with them, and some minimal lighting done with led christmas lights.
>>
>>28126175
Fuck, could you imagine that? Spending days, weeks, months or years living the harsh medieval life on a distant farm or fort and one day visiting Koganusan and everyone has a smartphone, playing games and music and shit on their break?
>>
>>28126250
Or going to rivertown where they have lights on at night and shitty booze?

also, smartphones and other similar gadgets are used on recon as small pict recorders by the scouts and rangers. Another side note Kog at least sporadically has wifi.

>be Kognusuan master race
>have spent time enjoying the fine green vodka, lusty scout ladies and fine bread moss.

>>
>>28126647
River City seems to be the New Jersey of Lenore.

I want to write a story about sending an expedition to aid Cadia, but I'm just too worn out today. Maybe tomorrow if this is still up. Certainly this weekend.
>>
>>28126721
It'd be interesting, really it's not, its just sorta that middle child of settlements.
>>
>>28126296
Wait, what's the Wi-Fi connected to?

Also, are they recharging mote stones yet? Imagining the next race after humans finding our batteries and hoarding them is kind of funny.
>>
>>28126721
In actuality, its liable to be /tg/'s bread basket it sits right at the edge of the lenore equivalent of the great plains so it's got nice flat workable land unlike most places. So it's more like south Jeresy than north.
>>
>>28126826
I don't think they can recharge mote stones.

The Wifi is connected to someones laptop which is functioning as an adhoc server for trading photos and music and shit. Not the best thing really, but it's all they got.
>>
>>28126826
Mostly to itself, there's a few still running netbooks within Kognusuan particularly at Central Supply, they act as data centers for all the info scouts pick up or record that can't be put onto the Slab.

Today we decided to climb to the top of the tower. After going as high as the staircase would take us we started using the rope and some of the carabineers as simple safety line. I’m the most experienced rock climber of our group and the lightest so I ended up having to jump, stretch, or claw my way through the remains of the tower to get to its peak. When I finally got to the top and stood on the stone remains of the final floor I was able to confirm that we were in a long line of watch towers.

Using our pair of binoculars I was able to make out the top of another tower that had smoke coming up from it. Either we are in a forgotten or abandoned tower and the distant tower is the Precursors, or other humans have had the same idea we had to use the tower as shelter. I would almost bet they’re humans, but with even a remote possibility of the Precursors being around we need to spend some time here getting ready for a hostile engagement.

there is a way, according to the old site, there's OOPARTs called wind talkers, but they're hard to find. Apparently they charge up a mote after a year of it sitting around. It also may or may not be able to talk to other ones. No idea where you'd find one of the damn things though as they're fucking whole buildings.

James had been out hunting again and checking the traps. It’s always a nice surprise when he returns with a nice fat Ferby, but today’s catch was one of the most glorious finds in the past few weeks.

When James returned to camp he was holding something bulky behind his back and had the biggest shit eating grin on his face. When we went to find out he revealed to us a composite bow and several carbon fiber arrows still in it’s quiver. While tracking to find a good location for one of our larger traps he apparently noticed the remains of a human from before the rains. The body was completely mauled and in a bad state of decay, but some of the gear was still viable for our use. Hung on a branch of the tree nearby was the bow and a small bag of useful tools and equipment. James thinks the man fell asleep at night and was attacked before he could reach his weapon or defend himself.

The way of the man’s death is no longer relevant, what’s important right now is that we never thought to create bows! It’s always the obvious things you forget about and with James’ gun we’ve not really had a need for them. However, this new area has a lot more variety of the local fauna and we may need them soon.
>>
>>28126958
We’ve been searching for proper wood to create bows with in between working our fields and building simple fences around the edges of our field. Some of the first creations were explosive failures. I spent an entire night pulling splinters of wood out of my arm after one of the bows shattered and dug into my arm. Phil’s bow was too flexible and didn’t manage to shoot anything.
At least working on these bows has helped us clarify the properties of the trees in our immediate area. Some would make great furniture, like a wicker chair, if woven together while still green. Others will work great as spikes that we can place in the ground to keep the larger animals out of our gardens.

As a side note, I noticed one of the baby dragon shaped creatures has built a nest at the top of our tower. It’s about the size of a cat, if a cat had an elongated tail and neck and wings. The dragon is noticeably different from the dragons during the rains. But it seems to serve a purpose which Phil found out about the hard way while working the fields the other day.

While he was busy checking on our growing corn crop the dragon jumped down and glided right above his head. Phil jumped to the ground thinking he was under attack, but the dragon pulled its wings in and dropped into the next row of corn to eat a small bug that was climbing one of the crops. We think this thing will serve the same purpose as a barn cat and work on pest control for us.
>>
>>28126981
The man that James found had some seeds in his bag that will come in very handy. Beans, radish, cabbage, and lettuce have been added to our farm. Each of them takes around 30 days to fully grow so we can stagger our crops to have a decent run of food until the next rain season. Although the nature of these plants tends to draw a lot more attention from the smaller animals so we need to prepare a more proper fence.

We do have our first harvest of crops coming in though. They’re normal earth sized so the rest of the crops will be growing a lot larger soon, but they’re ripe enough for us to eat. We’ve also located some more of the local bees which we have been harvesting small batches of honey from. Our meals are now a lot more diverse and we are feeling a lot better about making our next exploration trip.

I am one of record keepers for Bastion, it's been three days since the invaders broke down the doors. Bastion was the only place we knew of that hadn't fallen to the depravaty that others had fallen to, most of us had casually visited /b/ me I spent just as much time on /f/ and /tg/ just as much, more if you counted archives. I was in my dorm when it happened I grabbed what ever I thoght was useful at the time. I was lucky and ended up with the others that helped build Bastion. We had driven back the cults before, but it was only a matter of time until a warlord rose to power. Me the other record keepers along with babies, some of our brightest minds, and the council, and the few guards not on the walls took the tunnels under the city south where rumors were of a city that won against the cults were. With the robots we found we collapsed the building unto the entrance to the tunnel.

-----------

We have reached the wall, with the supplies and sixty we brought with us, half are dead defending us from the beast in the jungle, the cultists and a baby getting pulled into the jungle by who knows what. I drew the lot we have set up camp only one fire so that they can see us, I will walk there in a few minutes and please for asylum for the three babies if no one else.

Lord, the poor bastard has children with him.

The news coming from the big cities was pretty much terrible. There was a /tg/ city soon to be besieged. Cadia.

I had honestly intended to go a lot slower about this. But the simple fact of the matter is that I was ready to send the military out even if there was nothing gained directly.

The Keep is well out of the way of the encroaching barbarians, protected by the mountains, and difficult to access. That does not mean invincible. The Keep WILL fall if hit by a large enough horde. Though we are capable of fighting off many times our number, we are not invincible. Which means the bleeding must not happen on our soil. If the hordes come south and ravage the other cities, they will eventually turn on us.

We will lose our trading partners. We will lose our source of new tools. We'll lose the sources of new people. We will die or be enslaved.

The offer was pretty simple. Send us 25% of the new arrivals you receive, and we'll send out 50 soldiers to support Cadia. We need labor and population, something they already have too much of. I'd do it for free, but I made an offer for something we needed anyway.

Kog is the de-facto capital of this not-quite-alliance of cities, so it was them that I talked to first. Same offer made to River City. Give us people. We'll give you soldiers now, and soldiers then.

We intend to send supplies to support Cadia either way.

Supporting a major military expedition is going to be a headache back home, but I intend to make it happen.

Because I am going to lead it. My wife is going to kill me.
>>
>>28127595
The others are being taken care of, the man who called me asked me questions about why we came. I told him about the war lord, how the city had been built during the first wave, how we had fight off armies before but we had underestimated this one and the city had fallen, how we think that we were the only city in the north that weren't cannibals, the number we saw, and how we escaped. We traded my old calculus book and asked what was south this army was too big and if they came this way then I wanted to not be in the first city they hit.
>>
>>28127890
We sent them to kog, noting their fear. I didn't let the men see. Let the southerners deal with this. I've sent word with him one of my personal guards, a young man, unblooded. It pains me to think about how many I'm going to be sending to death. This is not a mere horde this time. The thought unnerves me. I cant let it show.
>>
>>28127861
Well, It would seem Butter Root Keep is on our side. They're willing to send men to Cadia. So be it, we'll return the favor fifth wavers are starting to pop up and honestly. We've got enough headaches here as it is. We're mounting our own march to the north sending 'the fell handed' with them. Mean while we've gathered as many motes as could here and sent them as well along with a pair of dwarves. Gimli and Dodar they will help in the heavy lifting department and recovering wounded...we hope.

That said, gods willing men this goes smoothly and these are just savages.
>>
>>28127861
Our community is small, insular, and isolated. It is ultimately very likely that we will become a useless backwater if we don't have a solid core of trade. I want us to be a farming community, to be the ones building new buildings, to be the ones that are the core of home-grown industry.

We can't compete with Kog in terms of mining or production. River City is likely to do better at farming than we are eventually, though we have a large capacity for it. We don't have any dwarves.

We do have the ability to make a lot of things. We can become the center of culture, production of processed goods, and the home of an elite military force.

But not if we're totally cut off.

Amanda reacted better than I thought to the news. Sort of. She insisted ten of the cultists, sorry, "Paladins", go with us. Shame the hounds aren't grown, we could use them. If they grow up to be usable, anyway.

The village is not exactly thrilled. However, all of the leaders in the community are behind this (Except maybe our newest farming leader).

Jason is going with me. He's been my lieutenant ever since he saved me from that jungle beast that got the taste for me forever ago, when we were still wandering in the woods. Amanda will keep things running here.

Kog has agreed. We're going.

A threat of tainted stars
Chaos stirs and in its wake
The souls of mortals sway

Sorrow reigns
Over fields of red
Spirits pace
Through the shadows cast by their graves

These are days and nights of venom and blood
Heroes will rise as the anchors fall
Brave the strife, reclaim every soul
That belongs to the Beauty of Dawn

Chaos strikes to corrupt the strong
But Faith will guide our swords
Loyal hearts, we'll stand as one
And fight with shields of Hope

Pride fuels the deadly fire
That devours our towers of stone
The drums of war will rage and roar
'Til the sun burns bright once more

These are days and nights of venom and blood
Heroes will rise as the anchors fall
Brave the strife, reclaim every soul
That belongs to the Beauty of Dawn

Expedition Leader's Notes:
The mayor is going out to war again.

I don't like killing people. Or things. I get angry, but before I came here I was just a big fat guy that liked games, ya know? But the Mayor, he'd been to war. He'd already killed people.

When we were still gathering DA BOYZ together, a nutjob attacked us. I was fat and useless and just stood there and did nothing. He clubbed him on the head and slit his throat while he was out. Just like he was... I dunno, opening a package, or something. No passion. I got better, after that. I was with him when we killed Big Alex.

I'm a lot stronger now. A lot meaner. I've got blood on my hands too. I still can't be cold like he is, but I won't let him down.

Amanda... she knows. She lost a hand to a psychopath being in charge. Everyone knows, deep down, that these people are wrong. What they do is wrong. How many people are they hurting, right now?

They're going to die. I won't let it go down any other way.

When my men are asked what army they serve under, they say none. They say they have no ideal, no value to place upon it and ask little to nothing in return. These are my men, my guards at the gate. Almost all of the men I have here are soldiers what few medically inclined we have are tucked away safely and my craftsmen have been trained to wield the weapons they forge. This is the way of my city, of my fortress. My Caida.

Where The South has their Guilds, I have my Regiments. My men, always the nerds even as they swing a sword or axe decorate their armor in their colors. Here I see clansmen their skull faced helms reminders of the atlas mechs, there I see kriegers, and to my Left the U of the Ultramarines. But at the heart of it all are my Cadians, the vanguard of my Vanguard. The skull and gate were adopted because I couldn't turn it down when I was too drunk to stand so my Heraldry is now that with the dragon beside It. We shall hold fast. As we will forevermore.

A military expedition takes food. We're taking a lot of our nonluxury food stores out with us. Fortunately it seems it's a rainy season here rather than winter, and there's a lot of local edibles. So no one will starve.

We're taking a total of 60 people. 50 of DA BOYZ, all but 10, and 10 of the cultists. We're also trying to get that new hunter girl to join. She's an amazing shot.

DA BOYZ are the core of our military forces. They are elite, experienced, and capable. Most importantly, they are disciplined and well armed. Most have guns with a good amount of ammo. We've been saving up for this day. Just as importantly, when the bullets run out they have slings. A sling can hit as hard as a .22 round. My boys have gotten very good with slings. And once they're up close, we've got spears - many now with metal blades - leather shields, leather armor. They're armed and ready to kill. But they need me there. A few women, a few men - many with new families at home. They need me to keep up their spirits, harden their resolve.

The keep won't be helpless without them. Everyone here can fight. The remainder will add everyone who wants to join to their drills.

We're taking every single boat we took last time, plus our new ones. Initially designed as large trading barges, they'll do just as well at getting us to Cadia. It'll be cramped as hell, but we're going. We're eating off the land as much as we can. That way we've got supplies in case there's a siege.

Besides that, I've got a little bag of tricks. There's a lot of ways to kill an invading army. These history books I've got and my own experience can tell me a good few.

Our numbers lie. We're sending out 60 soldiers. But they're going to feel thousands.

So I'll just assume while I was turning purple from a skin fungus, you're going off to war. When you get back we can start trading seeds and dyes.

There's two rainy seasons actually the first one is 'spring' the second is fall, 'winter' is just very wet is all.

Sorry, I haven't been reading everything so far so I wasn't aware the general time had progressed. I've had zero time today. Consider this to have happened at the end of rainy season, I guess.

The man they sent with us, told us about the city we were being led to, Kog. He told us the history of the land and of the other city's. I talked with the two remaining council members and talked about what our guide had said and we decided to make our guide take us to the keep. If the horde gets through, that place be the last place they will go. The guide said we need to at least talk to their council first and we agreed but only if they would lead us their after. We had noticed that the tech they had was better then our own, so maybe they could win where we had lost.

I stared down at blood stream flowing from the kid's throat, the snow around his head turning ever faster a dark crimson. Must have been about 14, maybe 15. He had a Girl's Generation shirt on, with bracelts on both arms that had Gee Gee Gee written on them. He had a horrible case of acne goin on, and he couldn't have weighed more than 120 pounds soaking wet. I had always wanted to murder one of the k-shitters that ruined SC2 general, and now I have.

Funny.

He's trying to tell me something, but the only sound he makes is the wheezing of air escaping from his new throat piercing I just gave him. A bloody steak knife is still clutched in my hand, knuckles gone white from the grip. The first person I've seen since being teleported to hell froze over three days ago, and I killed him.

I hadn't meant to, but when you make up in the dead of night with a katana at your throat, boundaries get blurry. Everything happened so fast. I knocked the katana out of the way and tackled him into the snow. He had tried stabbing my throat when I moved, but he was shaking so bad he fucked up and only nicked me. We tumbled in the snow for a second, being the fat-ass I am though, he got up before me. I saw blade slide into my side before I felt it. I lunged for the kid in a blood red rage, body and mind . I pinned the kid beneath me with little struggle, one of the few benefits of being a bigger dude. The knife was at his throat. Then came the blood.

He keeps trying to talk to me, only getting that sickening wet wheezing for his trouble. He'll stop soon. I walk over to his body, kneeling down to close his eyes when his breathes his last. I manage to figure out what he's trying to say the last time his lips move.

"Good game to you too kid."

Lesser Lances

Crafted for followers of the Sky god, in particular kings and priests lesser lances are long metallic staffs that have a socket on the end of them for a fist sized Mote. When emplaced the lance will come to life glowing faintly along its length with builder glyphs.

The lance is capable of killing a man from a distance. Unleashing a powerful burst of high energy light. This will sear a hole through a mans chest. Be pressing a holding another glyph it can cause it to steadily burn away at things. and finally as a last ditch effect it can release the stored energy of the stone in one broad cone of searing light.

The first can be done 400 times, the second for 400 hundred seconds and the final act only once.

these are located in the reaches of the north, though over the centuries a small handful have trickled further south.

So when is it not raining? Crap I've just been assuming there's one big rain season at the end of the year and into the beginning of the next with lighter rain. Then the rest of the year is the dry climate.

However, if the spring and fall are the monsoon season and the winter is just wet then that changes things a bit.

Day N4
Its been a few days and I must say this Kognusan place is impressive from what I've seen, which isn’t a lot. After some government people asked some questions about what I had seen out in the wilderness I started roaming around the city finding odd jobs to help out some. Apparently there are more settlements, someplace called Butteroot Keep, a river city, and even a place called Cadia. Apparently thats where the trouble is, Cadia. Figures it would be there. I’m not much of a fighter but maybe I can put my quest for a ship on hold and head up there to help some. I ditched most of my supplies in the big warehouse for others to use. I kept my IIUP, cutlass, machete, extra clothing and supply bag though.
>>
>>28130235
Oh lord, prepare to swing the wooden sword my friend.
>>
>>28130311
Wooden sword?
>>
>>28130363
Kognusuan soldiers practice a modified version of mordhause and builder fighting styles. As such they train with a wooden sword....a lot. Scouts and rangers come to loathe the sword.
>>
>>28130363
>>28130395
Rangers/Scouts have to practice with the weighted wood sword while training and building strength, but it became repetitive and tiresome. Then there's the blisters and callouses. Once you complete training and you know what you're doing, you're given your very own re-purposed/modified builder sword. Ceremonial and deadly. Probably some prestige added in as well.
>>
>>28130395
>>28130502
Oh dear, what do the blades they use look like? Is there an earth equivalent?
>>
>>28130532
probably remember physically the builders were pretty damn tall, I've always pictured them varying between fuck huge scimitars(not falchions as that would be too broad) or Full blade sized arming swords. Ours, are probably leaning towards arming swords while further west they'd be curvier.
>>
>>28130605
I see. How adaptable is the style then? I'm guessing it wouldn't work so hot with a machete or something.
>>
>>28130706
not overly its intended to function with a larger sword given its roots. Some of it probably carried over but its hard to tell. Then again there's bound to be other wooden sword swinging groups out there. This just happens to be the 'main' school.

I’ve managed to repair some of the stairs leading to the top of the tower. The walls are still missing in a lot of places, but at least I can get a good view of the land without having to go climbing each time. I have to be careful not to get close to our pet dragon’s nest. He’s doing a good job keeping the smaller animals and bugs off our crops. We might have to be careful if we expand our production it could draw in more dragons and I won’t be able to use the tower if they all nest here.

My maps of the area are becoming a little more detailed. I’ve estimated the other tower to be about two days walk towards the mountains in a secluded pass that has access to the river. To our north is a distant large mountain range that runs parallel to our closest section of the river. The distance is too far to make accurate guesses though. After the nearby river, there is one last fairly large section of the forest until it turns into more rocky land with the trees spread out more and more.

The tower also has this odd slot that looks big enough to fit a large egg or stone. It reminds me of the glow stones we had been using as lanterns on our map towers. Maybe one is put in the slot to create a beacon for the other towers?

Well, our Ferby leather is coming in nicely now. We’ve finally figured out the proper way to use the skin with the fur still attached. It seems the Ferby’s are water resistant and when the rain comes again we want to be prepared. I’ve sacrificed my overcoat as a strong fabric and pattern for our new coats. We’ve stitched together two body sections of the coats made of the Ferby fur. It may be easier to make the arms out of our leather supplies rather than the fur.

On a similar note we are running low on clothing. With only the three of us we’ve been able to slowly use the clothing we find off the dead. But there have been less and less sightings of newly arrived corpses and our labor intensive jobs are tearing apart the few shirts we have left. None of us have any idea about actual textile production. If I could get some yarn I remember how to weave, but most of the creatures here are feathered so that is unlikely. I guess we are going full leather soon. And here I swore to never wear leather plants back on earth. I wonder if I can get them tight enough to make my ass look good….
>>
>>28130235
Having your own blade is a nice touch, especially if it's the real deal. Most of the people that ended up bringing theirs was some stainless steel display piece mail order knockoff that shattered the first time it hit something hard and probably injured the wielder more then the target.

Unsurprisingly, k-shitter had next to nothing valuable on him. His backpack was full of sticky pictures of k-pop stars and empty candy wrappers. There was also a dead laptop and a few other nick-knacks tugged away in his bag, but by in large all he had was junk. I pry open the disc drive just for kicks. Lo and behold, a copy of starcraft 2. There's only one board that even "discusses" SC2.

/vg/. Fuck me.

When I got the call, I was drunk arguing with my girlfriend at around 3:00 am on a Friday night. We had been fighting over money like usual. I had just been laid off from my pizza delivery job, rent was two weeks late, and two grand had just disappeared from our checking account. A timer appeared in my minds eye, counting down from 10 minutes. I ran like mad around my shitty apartment, grabbing all the food I could. All the while she was yelling at me. I never pay attention to her, I'm never romantic anymore, I never want to spend time with her, I wasted all our money on my stupid games and booze. The list goes on and on.

At the three minute mark, I had put all the food we had into a giant pile in the middle of our living room. I stuffed what I could into a duffel bag, then grabbed anything and everything else I thought would be useful. My entire wardrobe, sparse as it was, all our eating utensils everything. By now she's locked herself in the bathroom, crying that I don't love her anymore.

1 minute left. I stumble to my room, pulling out a small black box from beneath my bed. On my way out, I grab a few books I have, all fiction, not a reference book in sight sadly, my spirals and a package of pens. With twenty seconds left I kick in my bathroom door, putting the black box on the counter. I kiss her one last time. The clock in my head tells me it took 7 seconds, but I still taste her on my lips at night.

With 3 seconds left I fall on top on my pile of junk. A flash of light later, I'm freezing my drunk ass off in the tundra.

So while waiting on our next harvest of crops to finish growing we’ve each taken up a simple hobby. James enjoys skinning and trying to create perfect leather. He’s been doing really great considering we have to use sawdust because we don’t have access to half the chemicals needed for it. I wouldn’t say we have some DnD level combat leather, not even basic unenchanted leather, but it’s still functioning as clothing when we finish stitching it together.

My recent hobby has been dyeing the shit out of everything. Those purple mushroom, fungal, things make a really deep purple dye and my hands are back to being Barney the Dinosaur colored. I also decided to start using the blue-green flowers that are growing all over the tower. Phil likes to point out they’re called turquoise now that he knows I’m partially colorblind. The basic process for the dye is simple enough. You use a knife to chop up the leaves or mushroom really finely. Put in a large tub of water along with what you’re dyeing and slowly bring to a boil. After it boils remove from the fire and let it slowly cool. Then remove the strip and press until all the dye and liquid is out. It’s been a blast having all these colorful fabrics around. I even made a belt with some of the colorful strips of an old shirt and gave it to Phil as a joke.
>>
>>28131427
The dyer is colorblind...this should be interesting.

Looks like war is moving to Cadia. Fucking great. Our numbers have increased a fair amount, standing at abit over 200 now from alot of the north refugees and even some folk from kog who think hadesopolis would be safer since we're hidden.

Talked to the council after i told everybody i was making one. Said if those butter root amatures who rely on slings snd guns soon to be out of ammo are sending men, we csnt afford to look like cowards. I'll be leading 80 men and women north to Cadia, 50 are all of my guys who've seen combat in the Phalanx while the other 30 are hunters that we're giving some hide armor with machetes and bucklers to compliment their longbows.

We've also got about a dozen full length pikes now to buff the phalanx harder but most of the guys will have to fight with spear and Tortolo Hoplon. Tam says he's making something special for me too take with us to Cadia, and that alone makes me worried.>>28131253

When the message came I was lucky in the fact that I had a decent amount of equipment and an interesting books(mostly the anarchists cookbook which turned out to be surprisingly useless). Sadly I found myself screwed over when it came to food. Really the only thing that kept me alive was a bottle of v8 I got. Along with plenty of clothing(sadly man of which needed to be washed). I did however have myself tools, guns, ammo, clothing, and decent amount of equipment. Sadly I was lacking in the stuff to keep you alive food and water. Which proved fatal. I did my best to study the local wildlife to see what they ate, but it turned out many of it was toxic so fuck this alien world. I can't tell you how many times I got sick for fucks sake I am pretty sure my blood changed color(thought it was black it lightened into purple after I recovered), I could see things that in amazing detail and may or may not have actually been there. The only time improvements happened was when I tried to either A. eat the natives or B. eat what the monsters avoid. That way I only suffered half the time...I would of died too my clothes were ragged, my eyes so swollen I was legally blind, weeping sores that produced a strange slime coating my entire body, and lets not get into how much I hacked and coughed. Pretty sure I coughed up half a lung at one point if my lungs condition is anything to go by. However luckily enough I stumbled into a group of /k/ommandos who saved my life. Luckily they were night /k/ and not day/k/are so they actually knew their shit. I don't know how long I stayed or how I did so shit especially considering my eyes got this strange dark circle around them. Anyway according to them they were caught off guard was still alive and only reason they didn't kill me was apparently I was muttering about moist nuggets or something at one point during me tripping balls.
>>
>>28131010
I'm being followed. I first heard the wails the night after I killed the k-shitter. Its a hard sound to describe. Imagine nails on a chalkboard mixed with the howl of a wolf with a peppering of metal grinding. That is the sound that's stopped me from getting any sleep last night

Luckily, I haven't seen any of the wailers (sound what I imagine a banshee's wail is like) yet, but I know they've seen me. After catching what little sleep I can, when I wake up all my bags have been moved around. The bite marks seem to be about dog sized, so not incredibly large I hope. I think they have to be afraid of me, or why not just attack me in my sleep? I lost about fifteen pounds of food to them, all meat from back home.

I stopped feeling my toes today. I tried tying plastic bags off around my shoes to keep the snow out, but tennie shoes were just not made for walking in a foot of snow. There's tons of trees around here, somewhat similar to evergreens back home. There's actually nothing but trees and snow forever. The only thing that separates one horizon from another is a range of mountains looming in the distance. I've been walking towards it since I first landed here, yet for all my trekking, it never seems any closer.

Tonight I start a fire, somehow. I have matches, and extra paper for kindling. I have the great joy of chopping wood with a katana, which is miles better than the steak knife I tried using before. Kid was weaboo enough to get an authentic one at least. I need to re-bandage the stab wound his damn sword gave me too. It isn't deep, and the snow keeps it numb, but i'm deathly afraid of infection. Maybe I can warm my feet up tonight too, though I dread how they will feel.

I'm scared and hurt, and I just wanna go home. I'd sell a kidney for a night of sleep in my bed. Oh well, maybe tonight will be the night I get a fire to start, instead of just burning more of my spiral. Or maybe I'll just get eaten.

Reading the original journals.

Found this gem.

>In other news, one of the river town science guys accidentally discovered a material fiber he thinks we can use to make clothes. It takes several chemicals, and she's not sure which ones yet. They're still experimenting. So, humanity has invented synthetic fiber before we've even finished mapping the world or inventing the ship. Won't history here be fun?

So running around in all leather isn't necessary as River city can apparently churn out Lycra or Polyester.

I go to sleep for a second and I wake up to find this! This is awesome. I'll write when I have time, the plague will come to the south soon enough.

After my recovery apparently I had somehow managed to ride out the worst of before the arrival of I believe it was Alice, Jay, Roy, Mark, and the other silent guy. Who never really talked. They luckily taught me a lot...that is once recovered anyway. Turned out Silent guy was a motherfucking badass if seeing him wrestle those strange wolf like things to death or beating with his fists to death those things with the horrible shrieking or terrible smelling fluids are anything to go by. Suffice to say I enjoyed a nice ass kicking and decent training. I hung out with them for a long while. Traveling mostly.

Apparently after some hellish conflict they had between day/k/are, a /b/ horde, /v/ and /pol/. They just want to come to the lands of /tg/ for some proper game time. You should of seen the look on their faces when I revealed both my dice and books. Which I gifted to them along with some extra spare guns I had. They gifted me with my very own Moist Nugget, pistol, and even a strange radio where they alerted me of a certain frequency. Not to mention a good deal of ammo after that we parted ways. As I couldn't stand the humidity and heat thus decided to strike into the mountains. They warned me about that place full vicious monsters and being so hostile just even /b/arbarians avoided it.

I ignored them foolishly thinking that considering where I grew up I would do just fine. Boy was I wrong. The mountains were covered in thick near constant fog unless you climbed high enough then you had to worry about what lurked above instead of what was in the fog. It was there hungry and covered in a horrible stitched remains from hell(what remained of my clothing). Encountered a strange little critter that was injured I don't know what was wrong with me but I just to pick it up just the same. As I was getting lonely and decided to try to nurse it back to health despite the lack of food for the both of us.

We’ve found the correct tree to make bows and arrows. James is down to about 10 rounds of ammunition out of the entire two boxes he brought so it couldn’t have happened sooner. Our overcoats are mostly finished. I’ve decided to leave the red and purple streaks of fur on the body of the coat alone, but the leather for the arms I’m dyeing the same color as those flowers. The leather is soaking for now so I’m sleeveless. Phil and James have theirs naturally colored.

As a joke Phil has been using the belt I gave him to tie the coat shut. I found the paper hat he made me wear and covered it in ash. I’ve sense dubbed myself Purplebeard and started talking with a pirate accent. ARRGH!

We secured camp and decided to explore some of our area in more detail now that the three of us are properly armed.

--
Well, after spending the better half of the day wandering to our southern boarders we failed to find anything human or life threatening. Phil’s picked up using the bow a lot faster than I have and managed to nail one of the feathered deer that we snuck up on. James snagged two Ferby’s of decent size and he wants to use their skins to start making bags.

I shot a few things. Mostly trees and dirt though. I still can’t get used to shooting a bow. Maybe I should get a hook for my hand to shoot straight. I did manage to find one of the glow stones that can be used for light. I’ll probably climb up to the top of the tower later tonight to see if the slot is actually a beacon or something else.

Day N4, Evening
I’ve inquired a bit about the rangers. I wonder if they’ll take me? Seems like a good way to get some combat and exploring experience to me. My only concern is that I’ll be following someone else's orders instead of following my own compass and that doesn’t sit particularly well with me. Looks like I have a choice to make.

It's cold.
Everything's fucking wet.
Did it just rain?
I wish I was at home shitposting on /v/.
Or just at home.
Whatever.

Fact of the matter is, I'm alone in a goddamn forest and this is not a good thing. "Ten-minute warnings" can go fuck right off, nothing could have prepared me for suddenly just being fucked off into the wilderness.

The alien fucking wilderness. These plants look right out of an acid trip or the new JoJo anime, one of the two. I'd rather stick to the food and water I managed to bring than try and meet buddha, if you understand my meaning. While Jerky, canned pears, and nutri-grain bars were going to get old fast, at least I knew I could EAT them.

I'll have to ration them wisely. We were addressed as a collective before this happened, so it sounds like I shouldn't be the only one here... But I don't know how long it'll be 'till I have proof.

I sigh and trudge on. So much for that dream of fighting in the UFC, eh? No amount of martialfaggotry's helping me here.

At least the bo makes a nice walking stick.

I must admit I felt a lot worst then when I first arrived so sick and tripping so much balls most my equipment got wrecked and I had no fucking clue how I survived. Considering some of my scars and some raging infections I had I can safely assume that some of those trips had a very real element to them. Wish I could go into more detail but truth be told I was just to sick and out of my mind to remember much. Though I do strangely enough remember almost getting boiled alive in a cooking pot by cannibalistic raiders, got sent flying into the air due to some flying monsters, and what I could sworn was a swarm of flying fairies telling me where I should go while chasing me. Really should not of listened despite how hard they seemed to try to herd me. As I could sworn I saw some dryads among other things. That is what I remember anyway.

Sadly during my mountain trekking I found my .22 rifle not surviving when I used it to take care of dinner. Unfortunately for me it proved to be bait the one seemingly SOFT(I hadn't eaten in days alright) target lured me into an ambush. Next thing I knew there was some strangely sticky, fluffy, and silk net covered me a dragging me away. I did managed to swing and hit something with my rifle before it got torn out of my grasp. I found myself very thankful for that pistol that I was given(made by a gunsmith in this world and everything). I must say have only surviving tripping in sick on my own for a few months followed by a month or two with the /k/ommandos did not NEARLY prepare me enough. I was starving and always wet. Damned fog made DAMN sure you could never dry even if you went up above the icy winds prevents you from completely drying off. I don't even what to know what may have been growing on me. Strangely enough I found myself thinking about all of that while be dragging of to who knows where I very bumpy if surprisingly cozy ride I might add.
>>
>>28132425
I don't know how long I was dragged for or where cause I am pretty sure I dozed off at one point. I only roused myself when I noticed it getting dark suddenly. That was when I realized I had gotten taken underground or something that is also when I experiencing I particularly piercing face plant tearing up the net enough allowing me to see.

There around me strung up everywhere were other husks of corpses covered in that delightfully comfortable yet deviously strong fluffy silk webbing. Worst yet I noticed that the husks apparently had something eat their way out of them. While the unbroken ones swayed back and forth or if they were wriggling about in impossible ways burst open revealing a swarm clattering chitin pour forth.

After I got finished freaking out over the cocooned victims I looked around further. Noting strange luminescent moss and in certain areas of the nest the broken remnants of old hosts and old meals. That was when I noticed the thing that had apparently dragged me in a strange creature with a mouth seemingly like two beaks squished together covered in strangly down like feather/fur with six limbs, and...two tails. It eyes seemed eager as it led a much larger version of itself toward me. This one big different being the noticeable armor plating underneath the fluff. Which I realized the that the other one luckily had it too and the only reason I could see it was due to how thin it was. Probably from the much warmer temp down here warmth was less of an issue thus fluff.

The Pumpkins were the first to be properly planted, we gave them a little extra space since earth plants seem to grow extra big here, Joe is overseeing the proper irrigation of that plot using the same tools and system that the rest of the Keep uses.
I’m looking forward to seeing some giant pumpkins, hell maybe I can even get the guys to build me a carriage if it one gets big enough.

The carrots are in the middle of being planted but that’s going slow, we have to plow much deeper with these and ensure that all the stones and rocks are clear from the ground or we’re gonna end up with some messed up and deformed carrots.

The boulder has almost been completely uncovered, the figure inside is pretty impressive, the main body and head seem just a little bit bigger than human sized, but its arms seem articulated and long, like an apes. They remind me of the so called ‘Dwarves’ that I’ve heard about from the big cities like Kog but it doesn’t seem big enough to be one of them. But from what I’ve heard it might be best to start gathering ‘motes’ to power this thing with.

Franky is back on her feet, the frankenpuppies have all been weened and with some caution we were able to relocate them to their new owners. Decided in the end not to keep one, there were enough people asking about being owners. But now that we have our own Scale Wolf population Im a bit worried about the limited genepool it represents.

I’m gonna ask if the hunters can see about capturing a lone scale wolf or even grabbing some young after the next birthing period. I’ll need to get some work done on building pens but it’ll be necessary if we want to start breeding them.

Guess I’mm gonna be a rancher as well.

More are coming I'm told, Apparently one of the smaller settlements. Polis or something like that. I've just gotten the runner. meanwhile the Scorpions have been moved into position and teams are drilling with them. We need them as fast as possible. It's not a huge ballista but they'll prove handy.
On another note thanks to some...negotiations with the 'elves' of the nightmare forest we've secured nightmare wood, makes horrific good shields I will say and some other species there are proving useful for bows. That said as of right now I have around fifty men armed with mark three crossbows(now with accuracy!) another
two dozen with bows, and thirty scorpions on the walls, I wish I had more. but, it's what I've got. Well that and two alien battle armors being piloted by guys that used to surf /m/. One plays Adeptus evangelion and the other's a battletech player...god help us.

I don’t know why I thought this would work, or what drove me to potentially send out a “I’m here, come eat me” message, but I put the glow stone in the slot at the top of the tower. With the beacon lit there was no light that spread out like I thought there was. Gondor was calling for aid, and Rohan would not come. I was about to remove the glow stone with James yelled up the tower to me that they had found something and to come down.

At the bottom of the tower where there is a door from the great hall was now a third door that went down into the ground. What was once a large wall was now wide enough for five people to walk shoulder to shoulder down a flight of stairs. After retrieving our weapons and flashlights we made our way down into the new tunnel.

At the bottom I realized the glow stone wasn’t used to light a lamp and call for aid, but rather call the tower to arms. We had stumbled upon a weapons and armor cache. Swords, spears, armor, shields, and one pedestal that held a very ornate spear with three smaller glow stones at the base.

We also found several suits of armor that was built for the Precursors. To our dismay the armor was the same size as the statues out front which meant these things were massive. The bracers were large enough to actually go around my thighs and latch. James thinks he may be able to bend and mold the armor to our size, but we don’t have a way of generating enough heat to do that yet.

In the end we each snagged a weapon and carried them back upstairs. I’m sure the weapons we grabbed were originally their daggers or the full sized staff I grabbed was a cane, but now we are even more deadly. Why do I feel like a Hobbit though?

And considering the repeated snaps a few dozen feet to the right and behind of me, I just may need it for its intended purpose.

Hopefully that's not gonna end up the case. My shoulder's starting to ache from lugging all this shit around.

Supplies:
-One six-foot white wax bo staff
-Two eskrima of the same material.
-A largish red duffle bag.
-A jacket, a pair of extra changes of clothes, and a snuggie.
-A few packs of beef jerky, a box of nutri-grain bars, and a half dozen canned pears.
-A smartphone with a questionable battery.
-A basic survival guide.
-A boxcutter.
-Key left in pocket.
-Glasses on face.

When the two of them arrived at my location and despite my best efforts I failed to get loose. I desperately didn't want to end up like the others yet...when the bigger one sniffed at me it then moved its head to stare out the smaller one which was practically bouncing in excitement when it saw the look abruptly halted. The larger one thing snipped me off the ceiling catching me before carrying me over and tossing me down a shoot.

After a long slide and me crashing into a pile of old refuse. I found myself blessing my lucky starts. Apparently they were not familiar with humans and thus thought I was useless talk about lucky. Sadly I did lose yet another portion of my equipment and I found myself with some new wounds. Strangely enough I found that strange little monster that I rescued and nursed back to health. A while after it recovered and seemingly healed it somehow returned to me yet again. Only reason I knew it was one and the same was due to the piece of cloth I tied around it. Looks like was going to have some company down here after all. lovely. Thus began my trek in tunnels lit up in both glowing of fungi and red glow of rock.

During the treck I took a better look at Steve who was roughly in the shape of pineapple and those old Zelda Ocarina of Time flying monsters hybrid. Its 'skin' was a carapace overlapped in a skin similar to a crocodile. The head meanwhile was covered in a mound of vicious spikes where twirled around rapidly help generating rift(enough to float and move around a bit) mostly though it served a sort of steering device. Its bottom meanwhile is covered a in a bunch of hanging sticky tendrils that when not whirling around rapidly constantly sought to touch or drag things into its waiting maw. I regret checking to see what its maw looked like to this day. Stuff of nightmares I am telling you and that isn't even including that I have no idea how it sees or seemingly senses things most would miss.

The Carrots are in the ground and honestly the hard part is over. Observed Joe and his small team installing the irrigation system, which is an interesting combination of ditches, clay troughs and an Archimedes screw.

Half the field is still empty but Im hoping that will serve as the next crop rotation, to avoid over planting one patch of soil. If it works out I think I can convince the mayor to give me space to start a new field which will serve as the third rotation.

The stone worker finally cleared the last of the dirt, rock and crud off of the colossus but nothing doing, the thing wont move and we still have no idea how to get it to work. I’ve talked to one of the southerners and he had a look at the golem, told me it looks a little like a ‘dwarf’ is supposed too, but not big enough and even workmanship. In the end he was just as puzzled as me. Since it was Paul, one of our main ploughmen, who had discovered the boulder in the first place, we gave him the honour of naming whatever the thing was.
He called it a ‘gnome’, since it wasn’t as big as a dwarf and named this one ‘Tiny’.

We’ve had a few guys from town come and bug us about it, something about it being a relic of the ‘builders’ I even heard some discussion about worshipping the thing.
I’m going to try and head this off before it becomes a thing. I have the guys returning to town and talking about the ‘Gnome’ as naturally as they can, try and get people to accept it as just normal. Going to talk to the Canoness about it, maybe she can talk about it, I want to avoid religious infighting, especially with the rumours from the north.

Despite wanting to twat him at first, I’m kind of glad for the name Paul gave it, I mean, how do you worship something called ‘Tiny’? Additionally, no one takes Gnomes seriously, so that should help.

After a long trek I tried to settle down to sleep especially when I was feeling drowsy...yet for some reason Steve the bombastic flying pineapple wouldn't leave me along. So I continued on only to after a while notice my held felt clear and no longer drowsy. That was when I made the sickening realization that these tunnels had gasses in them. So I slowly crept along desperate to not breath to much trying to go up as that is where I figured the surface was.

Eventually however one has to sleep...I will admit I didn't make self sleep until I started hallucination again and this time not just because of my insomnia(which I had long since ran out of meds for). So I had to sleep so I stuffed myself in a good cranny and with the ragged remnants of my clothing I attempted sleep and I did until I woke up screaming realizing something had burrowed into my flesh in particular my wounds. Apparently those strange little ridges were not made of rock...next thing I knew I ended up passing out as good feeling washed over me. When I awoke I found my scars strangely healed, covered in a silvery white scars, and feeling strong. After thoroughly checking myself noticing a discerning number of scars I continued on. Now however I felt as if I was starving unsurprising really but considering how long its been it still felt unusually strong. Either way I continued my journey passed by a blazing hot rock clearly hot enough to cook something on. Which only made my hunger even worse. That was when finally I encountered a strange scaly monster with a long bulbous snout ending in a sort of glowing sling like shape. I was hungry thus I drew forth my nugget and fired...TERRIBLE IDEA. Holy hell did my ears ring note to self do NOT shoot in a tunnel. Worst yet the creature I hit merely got angry and started charging at me where it was previously munching some moss and rock. Thus I for some reason I threw my rival at it spear style impaling it. It still didn't stop.

The March to Cadia was mostly uneventful. We sent the huntsman out, who the guys have taken to calling 'the Sightseers', to scout out ahead and around the colomn on the way to Cadia to make sure we didn't run into any sort of ambush as well as to hunt for fodder. We've basicly been able to keep a decent amount of meat and forage coming in that we've barely touch our supplies. I guess the one good thing about an abbadoned planet is the wildlife grows out thick. One of the Sightseers never came back from his scouting and there was no sign of him. I made sure they always stayed in pairs after that, even if it did shorten our search radius.

Ended up getting to Cadia in just about a week. Well, as unprofessional as those Buttercup assholes might be, i gotta say im impressed with Cadia. Actual decent arms and armour, Scorpians up on the walls, a patrol that actually met us a few miles out of the city and guards posted on the gates. Some of the discipline isn't what id want in guys meant to fight, but i guess alot of these people aren't specificly trained for combat, just levies maybe. Even then their training regimine seems almost entirely solid, me and a few of the better Hoplites went through some basic sparing with some of their 'officer' class or something to show them some things they were missing, and i actually learnt some as well. 2 years of HEMA wasn't nearly enough it seems.

I asked for an audience with the 'Castellan' who seems to be their leader as well some of the other guys who sent men here. If we're fighting these raider assholes then we gotta have a game plan and co-ordinate. I cant only imagine the chaos we're going to have with god knows how many orders coming from god knows how many people.

We just completed the first wall.

It stretches the whole eastern border of our fields, following the gentle slope down and facing the lightly forested and uninhabited area that borders our farm. Its an earthen core maybe to three feet wide and chest height, supported by wooden stakes set in the middle for support. This core is then covered by stacked dry stone, as tightly fitted as possible. The wall itself is about five feet thick, not bad for a wall of its size and now we even have an extra foot of fresh earth packet on the top which is having Razor Vine transplanted onto it. The first ones seem to have planted well but we will see if they wither or not. All together it’s a thick stone and earth wall reaching up to a persons neck and soon to be covered in spikes.

This is especially good considering we are definitely going to war. Not us specifically, but an compliment of our military is being sent to the eastern city of Cadia to prevent any /b/ horde from marching south into our land.

Since most of my team has little to do other than watch the field I’ve had them start on another wall, well, wall. If there is going to be a war then we are going to need to be able to defend ourselves. And I don’t know if anyone else has thought of this but, where there is war, there are bandits. Our walls might not hold off a horde, but they will save our lives against a bandit group or skirmishing party that might slip pass the wall.

So I’ve laid out the initial plans for the walls to cover our whole eastern border and the initial plans on the southern wall. I’d love to circle the whole Keep but I don’t have the men or resources to do that yet. For now I have my men busy stacking dirt again.

Bah meant rifle not rival.

In any case it charged on so I brought to be my trusty and well worn beaten as fuck bat. As I didn't have enough time to shoot it some more and I swung at it. In amazement my bat broke of its snout crushing it beyond repair causing the nobs to explode releasing a bunch of spores. Some of which I unfortunately inhaled. Sadly my bat also exploded in a fury of splinters dumbfounded as I could of sworn it was still solid I used the spiky remains of what was left both of them and jabbed it through the eyes of the somewhat stunned creature. Bad idea I got torn up by its tusks and horns pretty badly. Despite being blind and two stakes shoved through its sockets and beyond it STILL wasn't dead. Thus I found myself pulling out my knife and leaping onto its back(this time trying to avoid the front). Sadly I wished I had known its scaly hide was painfully piercing as I shoved my knife into over and over as it desperately tried to buck me off. Slamming against the walls leaping high enough to make me hit the ceiling and rolling around. I don't know how I held on and kept stabbing the way I did. Maybe it was due to me loving bull riding or something when I was younger, but somehow I was victorious and dragged into back to the flaming hot rock. There I gutted it and fried it up. I must say tasted AMAZING the moss covered hide gave the flesh I nice herby and slightly salty taste. While the flesh itself was sorta like a pork tasting fish like texture. Best of the juices cooked out of it merely got sucked right back in keeping it juicy.

The monster seemed to be a scaly reptile like hybrid between a boar and rhino. It tasted delicious and that is not my starving stomach talking alone. Once I finished my meal satisified I find myself hacking uncontrollably so hard in fact I could barely make it back to the crevice where I collapsed.

When I awoke I felt like I could hardly breath. Feeling around I noticed my and mouth were covered/filled with a yellow goop. Somehow however despite that Steve brought me food and forced me to eat as well as some watery moss to hydrate me. I don't know how much or long he did this as my last real memory during the haze was me waking up feeling as if I was drowning and suddenly being able to breath amazingly well. The typical rasp of my lungs and even my asthma were gone. I rejoiced except for the occasional hacking fit...which caused me to cough up bright yellow spores. Holy hell is that weird. Yet despite that when I finally emerged new wounds somehow healed and a large portion of the beast already consumed I packed up what was left and sallied forth.

Only to nearly walk into a trap where I saw a the same monster earlier get impaled by a red javelin from a whole. Somehow killing it instantly that was when I noticed the javelin exploded in growth. Looking around I could see similar more mature spires and older victims...so I found myself wondering what I was going to do...and had the bright idea to avoid the holes(which I discovered the exploded from impaling whatever it was. Interestingly enough the spires themselves were helpless the javelin fruits on the other hand. Were hellishly lethal. As it was amazingly sharp(piercing stone easily) and sucked the nutrients of the target to allow itself a growth spurt. Sadly Javelins that missed had to re-burrow wherever they hit and try again. Unless that is you picked them up and I did so. The actually treading of the area itself was like walking over a damn land mine...except you could get nailed in four different directions instead of just one. Sadly I had to use the last of my spare clothing to set a decoy in front of where I wanted to go. It worked albeit barely apparently that only works so well. I did however acquire myself quite the stockpile of them and considering using guns were a terrible idea.

It seems that our info reached Kog, I traded the Harry potter book set for armor, weapons, food, and a guide.

--------

Our guide says we are close, last night we saw a green light we decided to head that way. Our guide thought it was a different direction, but their are two that fit his description and were heading to the one that has a signal light.

It looks smaller then we thought but they have a farm. Hopefully they are looking for new member for their keep.

I decided to call those things Death Spires Trees cause when I made it out intact turned a biting swarm of whirling sharpness charged out of them the Javelin seeds were save to handle as long as you didn't stick yourself though. Still had to run like a motherfucker though. The spires themselves were interesting sort of like a strange tree/spire hybrid glistening naked branches. I noticed that interestingly they were a bright cherry red with black tips and circles spread throughout. When they did the red turns purple. I don't know how but I got away if you can consider falling into an underground river and getting caught by the current escape. Felt like my lungs were going to explode a few times air pockets were just so rare.

Somehow I made it by grabbing onto a root of something and dragged myself out. Turned out to be a for pale white and its roots in the water directly sucked up the water. Climbing up I found the white plant creeped all along tapping into the water before penetrating directly into the hottest parts of the rocks were an noticed a amazingly intricate system of roots burrowed into a broke down the rock releasing an amazing amount of heat while at the same time making it so other stuff could also move in. I also noticed the plant glistened wetly and...it was actually watering the surrounding wildlife. Amazing even better there were fruits and animals I could dine on. I don't know how long I rested there but it was long enough to recover and restock my stores before I continued pressing on.

Somehow Steve managed to find me yet again. I seriously need to figure out how he er it does it.

Forward Sightseers got back after being in the field for about 2 weeks. Spotted what may be the Vanguard pretty far off numbering something around 200 men, most raiders with some prisoners/slaves under them. I guess sooner the better so we can get back to Hadesopolis, but some of these other 'allies' seem to think they're all incharge. I cant say im much better, but at least ive got the lads getting more work done with the Cadians.

Got as much spare lumber into town as possible and the Sightseers hunting food incase its a protracted siege, but in reality i cant see the enemy being able to withstand putting up a siege much better than we'd be. Also got some lumber being hauled up by the gates in order too roll it on down if they try to batter them down and braces being made to reinforce them. Trying to use my knowledge to build a magnonel or two but so far everything has broken under the stresses, but if we can get one working it'd be great for lobbing tons of rocks all at once on the enemy.

Set out range finders so we know what range to let loose with the Longbows, Crossbows and Recurves respectively. Also putting up pungi pits as well, nothing too much as id kill myself if some random dropped into one after the siege, but enough that a large body of men are bound to fall into some so it should give them at least some pause with any assault. i AM getting some extra ones up near the fates, flanking them so we can funnel them down and at least that way its easier to tell people where not to step.

Overall we should be able to hold them off. No idea how many guys the Cadians have but its more than us and the Butterroot assholes combined, and in theory a siege defender can hold out 5-1. So as long as they dont have over 2000 guys, i think we're set

If you want to come join the Three Amigo's that's cool. I'm busy for the next thirty minutes then I'll be able to write a response to your encroachment on my land.

Although the only glowing beacons We've got set out are about 6 foot tall wooden structures with glow stones and maps of our area in them. The "beacon" at the top of the tower didn't release any light and it was a way to alert the Builders in the keep of incoming hostiles so they could get armored.

Anyway sorry about not updating lately I was just to busy running for my life. I don't know why but monsters monsters everywhere also plans that would be then happy to eat you. turns out the Death Spires were only the beginning...also apparently magma krakens and ground sharks are a thing by the way. Seriously though ended up on a ledge where a FUCKING KRAKEN CAME OUT OF THE MAGMA. Holy hell the only reason I got out of there was thanks to the amazing speed a nerd can run. Even then I had to dodge its burrowing tentacles as they tried to root me out. Worst day ever worse even then when those ground sharks came flying out of the ground. You try dodging attacks that can get you from literally ANY directions. On the plus side though they taste like a jerky texture sushi. But seriously though fuck the goddamn underground. I am pretty sure I may be more scar tissue then ordinary tissue at this point. Luckily there is plenty of hot things boiled water to help stay clean but still goddamn. Also have no idea how long I have been down there.

Then there is the surface...for you see in the underground you don't got a whole lot of space and these mountains HOLY FUCK ONE JUST STOOD UP and is that a flying island? OH GOD WHY DIDN'T I LISTEN. Humid heat, diseases, and monster filled jungle has GOT to be better this shit. Sweet mother and here I thought the outer mountains were bad...
>>
>>28133784
Whatever I didn't understand that, still coming. The explanation, something something light, something something bad moss bread, something something novice ranger
>>
>>28133842
Well on the plus side I don't think the mountain is a monster might not have moved...might be the drugs talking. If it did move it just sorta levitated from whatever it was though I am pretty sure I saw an aweful lot of something hanging off its ass. Sadly though it did turn out the floating island WAS a monster. In fact it looked like a much bigger version of Steve...which worries me as he is only a bit bigger then my head right now.

In any case I don't know how I survived long enough to get hear I was constantly on the move. The monsters here man I something else if they are smaller then 25 feet their always in a group. If their smaller then 5 its a horde. 1 foot or less and were talking fucking swarms of the bastards. I pretty much survived off the scraps and drinking puddles. Moving always moving...till I found an interesting sight. A giant fortress/volcano. Literally an entire volcano carved into a fortress. There ran rivers of magma which upon hitting a large body of water cooled. The entire place is covered in especially thick fog I only saw the tip of the fortress itself thanks to that. I noticed there was but a single bridge still standing the others seemed to have collapsed. Desperately hoping for a respite I moved across the bridge(surprisingly clear during midday) and went into the fog. Making my way towards it. I found a door along the way low ammo I don't know how I made it though. So something or several somethings did go after me lost my shotgun. When something grabbed it luckily I stabbed it with a javelin(barely have any left) which caused it to withdraw. Sadly it was torn up really bad. Don't think it will work any more.

Sweet sweet respite. Indoors I found a nice pooling and the restrooms...which seemed more like a running mini stream/whirpool. Pretty clever actually makes me wish for some toiletries. Right now I am in a smaller building don't know what the fuck I am going to do now.

>>28134302
Welp its been a few days turns out the water is clean after all. Drank it without purifying it like an idiot nothing bad happened so that is a bonus. So I wondered outside hunger was getting me. Only problem is I only got half a box of ammo left for my rifle and only two clips for a pistol. I have a box of shotgun shells left but with it being decommissioned I am in trouble. Monsters here seem to 'graze' on the freshly cool magma at least the ones that burrow anyway. Their predators however are something else from flying monsters which pull them out to other burrowers who I swear was spewing lava at them or something. In any case though I noticed some pipes from which poured out some sort of waste. Those big boys I can't hunt. I did get some strange mixture between a frog and goat however. It tasted a wee bit rubbery.

After I was fed I started going over my stuff...only to find my busted shotgun had been replaced with strange looking crossbow bolts included. Even more weird when I woke up the next morning the shotgun had been placed on a table freshly modified and repaired...into something I am strongly suspicious of. It is weird looking it seems to still be able to take shotgun shells gave me weird loader for it boot. Only problem is the odd boxes of ammo for the new gun. Not that I can complain they even provided ammo for my other guns. Real nice of them. While resting up I figured out how to tan the hides, using saliva, chewing, and piss. About time to what is left of my clothing has about rot off. Too bad I can't sew for shit.

In any case I continue my hunts discovered an interesting little bug I can attach to things REAL tight. Seriously though once it latches that fucker doesn't let go. Really amazing for dressing wounds and patching stuff. Even better you know all that carapace that is awfully popular? I figured out how to make it malleable and thus useful. Only have to use some special slime, heat followed by sudden cold to set it.

Apparently our recent find of the weapons cache couldn’t have come at a better time. When I returned to the top of the tower to retrieve the glow stone I caught signs of a huge caravan of humans moving just south of our tower and moving towards us. I nearly tripped down the makeshift stairs as I ran to tell James and Phil that we had incoming.

Our leather armor wouldn’t hold up in a true fight, and the three of us against their numbers would mean we were in for some serious trouble if they decided to engage us. Despite that we threw our overcoats on and the other two grabbed their bows. I grabbed the staff we had just looted from the Precursor vault because it was a lot sturdier than my normal stick. Forgoing the rest of our gear we raced to the edge of our field to use our fence as a defensive line.

The three of us must have looked hilarious clothed in red and purple fur coats, armed with a mixture of Earth weaponry as well as native weapons, and single pistol with only enough ammunition to maim up to ten people. Two of us had been turned a light shade of purple due to a skin fungus that we couldn’t get rid of, but had long since been an actual problem, and James with the black rings around his eyes. There we stood behind our wall awaiting a force that could easily destroy us and take all of our stuff if they wanted it. At least we would make a final stand to defend our new home.

Day ?? 149

We are almost upon the gathered forces. Our men have been well fed and equipped, they train relentlessly until they know their weapons inside and out.
They may not be the greatest at holding a formation beyond a basic spear wall but they know how to fight like no one else.
But not all my work is on the war effort.
I have sent one of my priests south, he is deceptively charming, I would say he was born with a silver tongue if it hadn’t been turned black from the ‘Rot’.
He is going to be a peaceful envoy to the people of Cadia, a simple man in a leather jerkin and skirt, no weapons and no guards. He does not need them.
>>
>>28134475

He walks through the wilderness bare footed and clad only in the leather that has been harvested from the beasts of this planets, trophies of the unholy screaming beasts that bear the sin of the ichor that denies the worshippers of Nurgle his blessing.

The horde killed them any time they were spotted and spread the ichor along the walls and the floor, wasted and never to interfere with Pappa Nurgles divine plan.

He is one of the chosen, one of the Acolytes under the true conduit of his will and here he was approaching the walls of the city that dares to challenge his power with its arrogant name.
The same city that is said to have tamed the Dragons and wielded them agains the last savage horde.

Those walls would not hold against him though, he was more insidious, he would spread his words through the city.

Almost like, dare he say it, a disease.
>>
>>28134475

Day ??151

They made the same mistake as Bastion did.

They thought us savages, lunatics with no tactics or discipline.

Fucking idiots.

We are not the beserkers of Khorne, we are the Nurgling Horde and we have a method to our madness.

Met them on the field early this morning, marched two units of about a hunred pikemen into their massed ranks, while units of bowmen, with those shortbows we liberated from Bastion, peppered them in the rear lines.
They held for a while, before the Death Knights charged them from their left flank. These are our newest weapon, some of our best warriors, subjected to the ‘Rot’ and then given heavy padded leather armor studded with bone and metal and each one of the long curved swords. Fifty of these guys ambushed their flank and ripped a bloody chunk out of them before they finally fled. Lost about twenty of them in the process, but we already have recruits willing to fill the position and the equipment can be salvaged easy enough.

But better yet, there is a reason we ambushed them from that side and left the other open. We had enough people, we could of pincered them and made it a massacre. But I had a better idea. We’ve caused them to flee and given them only one place to head.

They should reach the walls of Cadia in a day, we will be following behind them at a slower pace, giving them nowhere to run.

They will test the walls for us.

Why? Because we will make sure they know it is worse to face us then to face the wall. The captives will be brought with and tortured in front of our lines so they know just what will happen if they face us.

They are our slaves and they do not even know it.

While figuring out how to make carapace malleable and all I am dying for some fucking armor, also weapons. Its kinda sad how often my shots just seem to bounce of them much less how often they simply shrug it off. Though using the strange Maw Bugs was able to figure out how turn that carapace into armor. Only problem remaining is making it comfortable. Thinking I might use some fluffy bits from some monsters or plants. As is my stuff is mostly made up of rags, leather, and now carapace(shit is fucking AMAZING). At the moment my load out is greaves, bracers, breastplate and helm all carapace. After that I use leather to cover everything else I try hard to avoid using what is left of my cloth. Even managed to repair my boots with some leather and the heals with carapace. Can't believe they lasted as long as they did. Gauntlets and boots are proving troublesome sadly though I did find out that some oils from the monsters work great for repelling fluids. Even manged to find some fatty monsters I used their grease to deep fry some monster bits. Tasted delicious especially when I threw in some local plants(once I nearly died figuring out what is good or not thank you charcoal).

Carapace Armor is good can easily shrug of quite a few bullets before needing repair. As for how well it handles slashes, piercing, and smashing varies. Repair isn't hard to do if you know the secret. Sadly though you can only repair it so many times before replacement is required.

While of patrolling I discovered humans...women in fact. This time around I ventured out quite a bit. They seemed to have captured some men. I REALLY regret getting close. Lesson learned beware the females in these parts. I don't know whats up with them but it sure as hell ain't pretty. Even worse I noticed the occasional party or lone individual going to the fortress to hunt/train. Somehow they are really strong.

Well winter came finally ended. Hadn't realized the seasons had changed any since I was down in the underground. Knew it came to an end with the icy cap on the volcano fortress blew off releasing a giant cloud of ash/snow. Some of it somehow got into my eyes. Felt like my eyes were being gouged out blind as a bat stumbled around for who knows along before I fell into a vent. So now I am deeper in the fortress...can't see for shit. Don't think I will make it this time. Pain is getting worse moving up into my brain cavity.

...pain is unbearable vision is about gone this may be my last written message. My eyes and the pain it has spread to include my entire face as well as brain. Steve found me and guided me back to my little hide out. Luckily I got plenty of supplies this time. So hopefully I can ride it out.

As the leader since most if the council and the mayor is dead, went up to the guards and asked if butterroot keep had enough room for refugees from the north. I asked to talk to their leader and asked why they were wearing red and purple, when I heard that their color was orange. I also asked if their weird coloring was some sort of camouflage for when the raiders attacked from the north.
(With that I'm going to pass out for the night. Basically we have like 12 guards, five librarians, a chemist, a farmer, three children, and the rest are craftsmen. All have armor, and the adults all bows, blades, or spears.)

>>28134634
Welp I recovered food stores are pretty tapped out and now my eyes glow. I don't know how that ash didn't cloud my lungs up. Maybe because its already got something living in there. HAH.

Turns out the explosion released a cloud of toxic gasses and ash. A number of dead monsters I discovered laying around. Too bad they were already picked clean. Apparently that even happens every year to represent a new year. Weird. This year I made some progress made it so the carapace is comfy. Thinking about checking out the rest of the fortress, but I am just too damn lonely. Apparently I am first or third wave so I think some settlements would be around by now. Going to venture out. Got the supplies I need wish my eyes didn't glow now though. Or the fact I cough up spores.

Well I am sore as fuck a nasty monster snuck up on me from the water nearly bit a limb off. I was about to die it was shooting quills at me even penetrated my armor and the biting it couldn't bite through the carapace but it didn't have to. Carapace didn't cover everything. Somehow though something sorta snapped and I got lose. Don't know how though like it seems I became much stronger. Can't hardly move now muscles are so sore and tender. While I was running I noticed my 'scars' twitching and roiling about before shooting out feelers into the surrounding tissue sending it into hyper drive. Made me really strong but holy hell once the adreline wears off. It fucking HURTS. Never before has all my muscles spontaneously screamed out in agony like that. Worse yet I can't even attend my garden. Plus it made me really fucking hungry.
>>
>>28134705
Well I suddenly understand now why some of these monsters are so amazingly tough. Symbiotic relationships baby without that around here you die REAL quick. Turns out many of those monsters are covered in similar 'scars' among other things. Wished I knew what they did or how they would react. As I have the feeling those spores in my lungs were supposed to kill me. Instead it fixed my lung issues and made me tolerant to toxic gasses. Those scars of mine don't know what the fuck they are. I call Cloud Lines ever since a strange membrane covered my skin. Hardened and then erupted in creepy crawlers which crawled/burrowed away. Way to fucking creepy goddamn.

Tried to do some studying to figure it out but I just am not educated for it nor can I get close enough. Continuing my training regiments and threw own a whole lot of stretching/yoga hopefully that will take care of my Cloud Bloom pain. Or at least lessen it which it did somewhat. I am sure there is a better exercise for it.

Welp decided to snoop around deeper in the fortress REALLY wished I didn't drink what was in the container. Feels like there is swarm of very active worms throughout my digestive track. I can't eat shit and had a craving for poisonious/terrible tasting foods. I held of as long as I could but I just couldn't resist...

Its official I fucking HATE this. Sure I can eat poisons safely now but why just WHY do I HAVE to crave poisons and terrible TERRIBLE tasting foods now(as in the worst it tastes the more I crave it). WHY god was it not enough for you to send me here? Sucks so much...worst part is it doesn't even make it taste good or anything. Fuck.

“Butterroot?” James turned to me asking about the name they used for us after the leader finished speaking. “They say they’re refugees from the north and looking for room. I think we should let them in.”

“Hah, they said you two are supposed to be orange! As if being purple isn’t already funny enough, imagine if you were Oompah Loompah’s!” Phil can be an ass some times, but he had a point, at least we weren’t from Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

I stepped forward to talk while Phil and James lowered their bows but kept them notched.

“We are not this Butterroot place you speak of. We have no orange…” I paused to think of any connection someone might have made with us being orange and couldn’t come up with a single thing. “You may be thinking of another settlement as it is just the three of us here and we haven’t seen or heard from other humans in a long time.”

“Still, you all look like you could use a place to stay and if you would like to use our home for the evening and then move on in the morning you’re more than welcome. We have food and supplies and we are willing to barter for anything we do not have. We only ask that you help and do not simply take.”

I had started to turn back to the tower when I remembered what could be the most important news from their introduction. They were fleeing from something and they thought we were camouflaged. The word raider implies hostile humans rather than Precursors.

“Come inside, it seems we really need to talk about what is chasing you. Our clothing is natural from this environment and the skin. . . well let’s just hope Phil here isn’t a super immune system on legs and this isn’t contagious.”

Finally went out of the mountains it was a long hike decided to go find civilization. Or so I hoped instead I found a outpost near the edge of the mountains. Guys there nearly tried to kill when they realized I came from deeper in. Apparently their a small village in between raiders and the mountains their barely hanging on. Asked why they stick around claimed it was due to them finding a good spot. Apparently there are a couple of villages spread out throughout the hills. Basically they usually found a good defensible spot there they built a settlement farming wise they used terraces. Supplementing their diets with a little fish or hunting depending on location. Most interesting of all though many of those villages are ALL connected. somehow this village has a smith that one has a doctor. Their spread out throughout the hills with quite the range of members. True cities are rare though they have reclaimed a few old forts which serve as gathering points between villages.

In any case though I find myself nearly shot when they thought i was some sort of monster. Not that I can blame them I was allowed to trade a bit though. They were real impressed with my carapace armor. Which I traded bit a pieces for. Mostly for seeds and tools. Good thing I brought trade items along just in case. Discovered there are multiple tiers for carapace dictating strength/pliable. Finally got the gauntlets and boots figured out. Even got the bases for lighter/heavier pieces. Got to patch up them holes in my defenses.

While heading back found out about the females. Apparently sometimes bad things happened to women. They somehow get loose and then seek revenge. Normally this wouldn't be much of a problem but they are. They use the mountains to strike out from. Their not a fan of men probably a side effect of their treatment. Worst still they somehow amazingly strong. Makes them a REAL menace around the mountains and even further away should they throw out a warband.

(Forgot to do something so one more update)
After they invited me in I signaled my people to create camp. I brought with me the two remaining council members, the farmer and the chemist. We told our story from when we landed, to the fall of our city, to our escape and our hornet here. We stated that we were heading to butterroot because it was not one of the major cities. But this was an even better place and we would know the raiders were coming and that we could just use the escape tunnels to run if we saw them coming. We offered to trade our knowledge showing the plans we had recorded, our defenses, our armor, how to smith, our record of plants and animals, even our note on a plant that seemed not to grow down here. We called them cherry bombs, they tasted like gas and we only found out they could explode when someone thew it in the fire and blew a toe off, when dried they were even worse, we had only finished creating one bomb when the fate fell and only had time to take the seeds, we had used the bomb to close the tunnel behind us. We traded stories of why they were blue and told them about black eye and other sicknesses we had encountered, and told them that our antidote had numbed our sense if touch and taste, we could tell we were holding something but not what if felt like.

This is embarrassing, but it's been said there isn't enough drawfags so I felt I needed to give my three guys a picture. They all are dressed like this with patches of the red and purple fur from the animals. The arms on my coat are lavender and Phil has decorated his with feathers from his recent kill as well as the belt I made while testing dye techniques.

My guy carries a lesser lance he doesn't understand. Phil has a bow made from native wood. James has a pistol hidden under his shoulder and a compound bow from earth. They both have small (by builder standards) swords stuck in the ground beside them because there was no time to make a sheath.

They're all keeping their beard as closely cut as they can with scissors, but not bothering with a close shave without proper soap. Hair is grown out to around shoulder length because, fuck cutting it I've got work to do!
>>
>>28134914
Well now I make a trip down to the villages every season. I claim its for the goods but truth be told I can only enjoy solitude so much. On my trips though i have taken to hitting raiders groups. You wouldn't believe what a single person can do. I never stick around for long though pretty much hit them then run like hell. Good thing their equipment tends to be shit, still don't want to tempt fate though.

Why me. Apparently I have people around here half convinced I am some sort of spirit with the whole living in the mountains where man dear not tread, creepy appearance(can't blame them there) and raider harassment(to be fair though their loot supplements my stuff quite nicely I can't help it). Seriously though apparently this raider was about to get killed happen to kill the monster(didn't see him otherwise I would of waited) and ever since he follows me around like very big scary over protective guard dog. Tried losing him didn't work. So now there is two of us. Or at least I though he was a raider he wore some bullet proof vests reinforced with metal, bone, and leather. Pretty good for stuff around here. Weapon wise he has a hatchet, knife, and a rifle. Even the raiders didn't like him too quiet for their tastes.

Turns out my new friend is a survival guru. Seems weird that he was a raider. In any case man is a crack shot and knows everything there is about survival. Asked about his raider days he claims it was due to him needing stuff. Surviving is one thing luxury is another as he stated. Now why is he with me? Dude has an airtight honor code. Really intense and specific. Apparently saving his life qualified me for something. As much as I like his skills now my 'loner' excuse no longer cuts it. Now people are going to be interested. Lovely now I have to come up with a new excuse to lovers and others.

New guy is called James. Sort of had to beat a hasty retreat out of the village of Willow when a certain cunt claimed me the father. Do not recall anything happening between us white knights are pissed. Man what would I give for a damned paternity test.

Sadly while on the run I ran into a group of cultists like an idiot. Who then bowed down before me. Fuck. Apparently I am some sort of spirit to these guys and thus highly respected. Which was all fine and dandy until I was brought to the lair(an old castle being under repair). Which was all fine feast and everything until their women started throwing themselves at me. Being the cautious man I am I didn't want to fuck them. So amazingly enough they understood. Few drinks later though following morning I found myself some in bed with a selection of females who I don't recall. Damn it they must of swapped out the light stuff with the hard stuff. Luckily they all partied awfully hard so I was able to get away. Dignity in shreds and honor lost granted. Reminds me of the time I lost my virginity really.

When I got back decided to make that forway into the fortress. Traps, guardians, and monsters. Sums it up quite nicely.

I am not so arrogant to say that I was prepared when it happened. But it would not be entirely true to say it caught me off guard.

I always knew I was destined for greater things in life. I had never gotten along well with others; they didn't understand me. They didn't understand my genius. So, I focused on myself. My body, my mind, my spirit. I honed them to a razor sharp edge. I took classes in my teenage years to develop my fighting skills. I started picking fights when I was 17. By the time I was 23, I mostly stopped losing. I browsed /fit/, /k/, and /b/ on 4chan. When the message came, I grabbed what I could and shoved it into a duffel bag.

8 20 fl oz bottles of water
Two cartons of ciggies
My phone, a Samsung GS3.
Three zippo lighters
A combat knife
A Ruger 1911 with three spare clips.
Two changes of underwear.
My old aluminum baseball bat.

And then I was there; the forest. A forest that would become my home, and my hunting grounds.

Day ??153

The fools have camped themselves out infront of the wall, they are scared, it is easy enough to see.

They wont find salvation in Cadia, to many of them are murderers and rapists no better than our own horde and they cannot flee, any direction they could try wound be swarmed by my men before they could get far.

So while we wait, my own camp on a hill easily overlooking their position and the Cadia, we consolidate our power.

More and more tribes join us with each day and with each tribe comes new technology. One tribe from the coastal area brought large round shields as tall as a man and as wide but weighing only a couple pounds, its made from these large flat turtle-like creatures that sit in the shallows just under the sand.

The shields arecapable of withstanding several sword blows and arrows, though it has shown problems dealing with a capable thrust from a pike and axe heads however, but it will protect men when they charge for an escalade or carrying battering rams.

Another comes bearing more ancient weapons, more pikes and swords for the troops, all liberated from the large central city in the centre of /b/ territory.

Most impressively, a tribe from the far north, bordering /g/ territory has offered up plans for catapults as tribute in order to join, if they work out we may have a true siege engines on our hands, technology they had traded many slaves to a /g/ settlement for by the name of Progess.

The only problem is that they wish to withold their right to worship Slaanesh, their leader, a warrior-priestess type, refuses to bow otherwise.

Im tempted to crush them, they are a slaver army more than anything, not a true warband. But just as that entails, they would be much more useful to us alive, our slaves are made to work with brute force and require constant watch. Those with experience at the job would be useful.

But how to join the tribe to us without upsetting the zealots.

Hmm. Hehehe, I always did want a wife.

The fortress itself is largely empty and abandoned the further up the you are more so. The lower you the more recent it looks. When I reached the very bottom I discovered strange things working. They were digging, hauling, and mining ever expanding the fortress downward. Apparently they ran out of space topside so they went under. They then used the material downside to craft and expand top side. Constantly working and expanding. Entire place is devoted to churning out who knows what. I tried checking but store rooms are largely empty. That is until I checked in the mouth of the volcano. There suspended in giant chains was a giant box hanging over it. Above it was a conveyer belt hauling who knows want and depositing into it. I tried getting close but I couldn't heat was too much.

Inside the fortress and where work wasn't being currently done was crawling with monsters and traps. Monsters you could fine but them traps. Luckily traps are only a problem in the newer areas as monsters move it traps go off and even stay off. Must admit though I have no idea how big this place was until I actively checked. Its huge and the soil is amazingly good if my garden is anything to go by. Its a nice place just too damn many things that want to kill you. Thus the whole benefit is largely lost. Real shame that. In any case I never did find those things that helped me out way back when. As is though I still find stashes laying around. Mostly containing ammo and few other things. Always somewhere I will find it too.
>>
>>28135154
My first, and most obvious, problem was that I hadn't brought any food. I cursed myself under my breath, and assessed my surroundings.

I was in a small clearing. Tall trees surrounded me on every side; what appeared to be a smoke trail floated lazily above the foliage to my left in the distance. The soft grass felt pleasant on my bare feet; I had forgotten shoes as well. Things were not off to a good start.

I decided to investigate the smoke. I made my way through the trees, wincing as the occasional thorn pierced the soles of my feet. After a long trek I came upon another clearing. It contained two men, huddled together in front of a large fire, their backs to me. They were overweight, unruly beards on their weak chins. One had slightly greasy short hair while the other was bald. I felt my disgust force its way up my throat. They had some sort of animal roasting on the fire, and my mouth began to water. These men would not last long, and their death would be gruesome. Would it not be a mercy to relieve them of the burden of life swiftly, rather than at the hands of a ferocious beast? I did not hesitate long.
>>
>>28135223
I don't know what was wrong with me. I saved one one of those strange women. She seemed out of it for some reason. Monsters almost got her. I have a feeling this is bound to bite me in the ass.

While exploring the fortress discovered old store rooms, kitchens, ect. It strange some are hardly touched yet others seemed completely ransacked. There however I discovered a strange creature. It was covered in fur except for its head and back which had a large thick plumage starting from the head downward thinning out through out. Thing had four arms and two legs. Thing was wounded had an axe gripped in its paws. Figures thumbs and weapons laying around something is bound to use them. Interestingly enough it was heavily wounded. My bleeding heart led be to taking it back with me. When it recovered it was quite big really didn't realize it till it stood up. Its eyes had a feral look to them speaking of crude intelligence. It strangely stuck around for awhile before leaving me.

Saw the monster I saved I was lost and it guided me back. Good news it helped me out bad news is it knows where I live. Plus this time I noticed it had another weapon with it. Then I saw another one this one bigger but with less vibrant plumage. It looks like they don't really understand tech for well but certainly enough to understand swinging a stick around can be better then ones claws and a sharp edged weapon even better.

Day ??154

I've begun to 'court' the priestess, she knows my intentions and why and seems more amused than anything.
It will be symbolic mostly an excuse for why we dont simply squash them like so many others.

By courting her I give her some measure of power, some leverage, while the Nurgling Horde retains face as the obviously stronger warband.

The ceremony will take place in the cathedral presided by S'ndra, my highest acolyte, and also possibly the only one who isn't a fuck off crazy zealot. I would of preferred her to the Slaanesh cultish but who said this world was perfect.

Who also said I only had to have one wife? Ha!

Day ??155

Courting goes smoothly, killed a manover an imagined insult for her, the look of confusion on his face when I shoved the dagger in his eye was priceless.

But that was but a distraction, I am worried lately.
Firstly about /g/ to our north, I've heard tell of a number of independent free cities and their technology, nothing fantastical but I've heard tell of windmills powering generators and such. Ballista and trebuchets as well, luckily the size is negligible in comparison to /b/ and they dont seem shy about dealing with us, but it still might be a problem in the future.

Secondly there is the great city in the centre of /b/. It has no one ruler, instead several tribes call it home and roam throughout it like the other tribes did in the wilderness before the Nurgling horde.
Right now it is the only true part of our territory that I do not control, but to invade it would be a risky endeavor, there is an abundance of ancient weapons and armor in the city and all the tribes are well equipped.

How to deal with them...
>>
>>28135271
I assumed a low crouch, and took my bat from my bag. I dropped my belongings carefully behind a nearby bush, and began to slowly make my way across the clearing. I made it about halfway. One of them turned around, though if by chance or by some mistake of mine I do not know, and spotted me. He yelped in surprise, and I broke into a sprint.

"Oh shit oh shit oh fuck Russel get the fucking gun you son of a bitch!"

The one with brown hair frantically roused the bald one from his semi-doze. I heard the word "gun" but it didn't register. The bald one began rummaging through a backpack as the other stood to face me. He halfheartedly raised his fists; I bashed him across the temple and he toppled like a felled tree. The other turned around with a small gun in his hand. To his credit, he did not hesitate. I heard a gunshot; a sharp pinch on my chest, and then I was on him. I cracked my bat down on his face and his nose broke with a wet crunch. He cried out, and I followed it up with a strike to his mouth. His front teeth flew out in an arc. Tears gushed from his eyes as he began to beg my mercy, but I was beyond hearing. My bat found him again and again, embracing him like an old friend. Eventually his cries stopped. I sat down heavily, and realized the front of my shirt was stained with blood.

Good raider material not very smart though he wont last long at this rate.

>>28135295
Largely bored I studied what was around here. First of all the other human inhabitants. From what I can tell the only ones those strange female only raiders. Upon closer look I realized they figured out the whole symbiotic deal and worse yet they got explosives. Really nasty bunch. I feel sorry for their enemies. Alien symbionts do weird things to the bod and apparently the have it largely figured out already. Kind of have to if you want to survive in these deeper mountains.

Tracked down one of their settlements considering the among of sex and rape with lack of pregnancy one can assume they got birth control. their also a fan of slavery those with useful skills get to stick around those who don't are worked to death. Their favorite targets seem to be raiders. Clever really who is going to miss raiders? But considering how despite that being their primary target their still known outside is a testament to how good they at it. And truth be told I found out why they got a ready access to slaves and tech even worse I noticed /k/ommondos being one of the very few capable of turning out guns and ammo regularly supplying them. Idiots find chicks with guns sexy its going to be fun to watch said guns turned on them one day. At least if they don't turn on me first. As is their already caught word of the 'spirit' lurking around. Seems they REALLY don't like it when there is someone is in their mountains. Our arrival at River City was swift. We wasted no time, took few breaks. The Yowlers have not been active at all, according to Jason. After the last trip our armor was treated.

Over the radio I began sending messages down south. Although not entirely likely, you could burn the jungle. An army that large needs to live off the land. It's wet down there, but what can burn should, and once it gets hot enough it won't matter how wet it is. Shame they don't have stocks of oil like we do. At the very least, the Cadians should be out slaughtering wildlife and leaving it to rot. Everything they can. Let the /b/astards starve.

We heard of some survivors from a city called Bastion. Every last one of them is welcome at the keep. I remembered Bastion; great freaking game. People who liked it probably wouldn't be that bad. Besides, they deserved a chance to train and work. The soldiers left behind will make them into proper members of DA BOYZ in short order. Unfortunately we can't spare the boats to send them up, but if they can walk along the river bank they should get there before long. Jesus has agreed to leave his position as ambassador to serve as a guide for them should they show up and decide to go.

Some of the people up north are excited to hear about an ambassador from the attackers. Apparently they got themselves ambushed in a conflict, so they're more interested in it than they would otherwise be. Savage doesn't mean stupid. Their leader is clearly canny. Well, diplomat is just a polite word for spy. If there's a cancer in the body you don't allow it to spread. You cut it out. I suggested that they simply slit his throat and leave him to bleed, or failing that, met him well outside the walls and kicked his ass back to their leader.

We're going to be traveling up the coast. We should arrive soon, and the forces of the Keep will be there to face them.

It felt like an eternity since the last time I’d read scientific material. Their reports on the wildlife and plants of this new world were truly staggering. They had experienced a lot worse conditions than the three of us had been through and a wider variety of sicknesses and diseases that they attempted to cure.

They seem to use an ichor from one of the wildlife to cure the blindness and deliria that had struck us in our first major rain season. Even with James’ advanced case we had a lot more severe immediate reaction to our medicine, but less long term problems. . . well if you don’t consider a skin fungus that changes your skin and hair pigmentation a severe effects. Neither of our groups can determine why Phil still hasn’t caught the Black Eye but knowing there are other cures it is most likely something he ate when we first arrived.

They also claim to be able to teach us smithing techniques. Honestly, I’d love a good old fashioned forge churning out fresh tools, weapons, and armor. The only problem with this plan is that we already know the general idea of how to smith, it’s finding the ore and smelting it that’s been the problem. We also do not have the proper location or ability to build enough heat to fold metal.

Their defense plans will be interesting. With more hands we may be able to build proper walls and our fields can be taken better care of. These refugees really want to use our tower to hide, and from all that they have told me I really want to get out and see the rest of this world. I want to go find this Butterroot Keep, which from their directions it seems to be the next tower in the watch tower chain. I also want to go find this Cadia place they passed through. I feel like a kid again with the whole world before me and all I need to do is take a step out my door and claim it.

One of the librarians from the refugee group was able to help me translate some of the murals on the wall. Apparently the squad of Builders stationed at our location was led by a special kind of leader. This leader was given the divine power of god to defend his people against an ancient evil. This divine power is the long spear I’ve been carrying around. James, Phil, and I all agreed we wouldn’t reveal our secrets to these new refugees so I simply told the librarian that the spear was in the main hall rather than beneath the tower. At some time I will have to reactivate the door and go retrieve the glow stones to power the spear.

James has been out showing the newcomers our hunting grounds and he has a small team of trappers now that bring in deer and Ferby every evening. Unfortunately he has started seeing signs of the large feathery horse/crab creatures ranging back closer to our terrain. All of our hunters now move in groups of four minimum and they’re hoping to bring the pack down the next time they see it.

Phil’s been working in the fields and helping the new comers catalogue some of the bugs and animals based on what he remembers of them. I don’t know how trustworthy his testimony can be due to cross contamination, but at least he is happy to be helping. More related to our own plants we lost the entire radish crop. Apparently, they don’t take in this soil. Our lettuce and cabbage are pathetic excuses for greens, but at least we will be able to replant them. The only new crop we’ve successfully added is a lima bean.

One of the refugees remembered that lima beans are poisonous if eaten raw. We’ve decided to try and test it on one of the trapped Ferby next time we snag one.

Unfortunately I feel another severe rain season coming in. The winds have changed moving west now and I can almost feel the pressure change in my wrist. I’m now almost 100% sure there is an ocean to our east.

The Kelpies do not like us.

It's a curious thing, really. Yowlers go insane when exposed to the oil, it draws them like flies to honey.

Kelpies seem to be driven off. We encountered one the other day as we went along the coast, and as soon as it came close it immediately turned back.

Our armor is treated not to give off the scent of the oil, but that's good. The 'scent' of it seems to carry in water anyway and drive them off. The boats were treated with the oil to help waterproofing. We're well away from the shore, but I ordered one of the clay pots of oil opened. Sure enough we spotted a yowler later that day.

Not all wildlife reacts to it. The little squirrels just don't give a damn. Seems they're largely immune to the poison; they may be one of the species that eat it.

We'll arrive at Cadia very soon. I'm trying to figure out how to use the tools I have to defeat a vastly numerically superior foe.
>>
>>28135931
We've arrived at Cadia.

First order of business, unloading supplies.

Their mentality is a siege mentality. That will go a long way to buying us some trust, since any siege needs food. Besides, I have zero doubt this is the first corn flour they've seen since the enemy came.

The bulk of their horde doesn't seem to be down here. Their leader is back up north dealing with other matters.

It took some persuasion, but the 'diplomat' had his throat slit. Well, by persuasion I mean I took it upon myself and had Jason do it quietly. The Cadians were not thrilled at all. I spent a few minutes with him, and that was all it took before I realized that he was one of the most dangerous men I've ever met. He reminded me of an army recruiter mixed with a priest. I simply told them we'd suffer any diplomatic repercussions.

I'm not particularly well liked by these people at this point, but I managed to bully my way to their leadership. I've grilled them about every detail, every aspect of terrain, armament, and capability before they were able to get me to fuck off. I've got some basic maps of the area, ambush points identified.

The opponent is essentially a raider civilization. They are perhaps the single most dangerous foe we have ever faced.

Our first priority is to attack. If you're not attacking, you've probably already lost. Our force isn't capable of defeating an army that massive alone, so I'm going to be running a few tricks to weaken their numbers and resolve. If I win a victory or two here, I may be able to gather some trust.

Some of the refugees have been working on stitching their own overcoats together after I told them the rains were coming. Right now I’ve asked one to stitch several pockets with flaps into the inner lining of mine with some smaller scraps of leather. One of the female refugees is also busy securing several feathers James found from the horse/crab beast on the shoulder.

James, Phil, and I had a brief chat and decided to open the vaults up for the new comers. They mentioned knowledge of tunnel ways beneath their city and they also suspect our tower has a similar function. I was initially hesitant to further arm these unknown refugees but now I can barely stay still.

On Earth I traveled the world and worked in foreign countries for years just to see what life was like elsewhere. I couldn’t stand the idea of living out my life in the same town, doing the same thing day after day. The initial fun of building this keep has passed and now with the knowledge of what the rest of the world has to offer I can’t pass up this opportunity. I plan to leave for Cadia at first light tomorrow.

The refugees helped me fill in the remainder of the map up towards Cadia. It’s extremely generalized and not exact, but I think I can make the run in a few days. Their journals on the plant life have further expanded what I know I can eat while moving and I will be leaving with a relatively light load. The new pockets should help hold a lot of things, mainly the 2 spare glow stones for the spear. James has also given me a hunting sack he made recently out of leather. It should hold my water bottle and a few smaller crops for the first day of the journey. It’s started to drizzle rain, looks like I start my journey tomorrow with the start of the rain season.

First things first. Tricks and traps. I borrowed some of the Cadian scouts to show us the lay of the land. I think the cornbread we made last night, or perhaps the watermelon wine, made it possible for us to get that much support in spite of the death of the diplomat.

There was a small group of men off of the main party out scouting for supplies. One of them had a rifle.

Unlike what you may think Orange is not the worst camouflage one could have out here. Red and orange are common colors in the foliage, though we're not precisely stealthy. Our small party hid in the bushes of orange fruit until they approached us.

We attacked with our spears, not wishing to waste ammo. Atlatls are quite curious things; one of the most primitive weapons known to man, a thrown spear is also quite deadly.

They never had a chance to react.

These people are well equipped and have training. That's clear. But they're arrogant. This small group at least did not suspect there would be an assault.

I had originally intended to dress them up as dead new arrivals that didn't make it, leave them with supplies. That's obviously not going to work. They're marked too clearly for that to work. The effects of black eye on their bodies is horrific.

Instead I left them with some supplies. A jar of butterroot oil, a bottle of wine dosed with an amount of sick salt that would likely be lethal. Fitting for Nurglites to shit themselves to death.

I've also identified likely water supplies for the enemy. At some point I'm going to have someone sneak out and dose them with the supply of sick salt I brought. Boiling won't fix it, so people drinking from dosed water supplies will be in seriously bad shape.

Finally, I had most of us withdraw and sent one of us out to draw a few of them to our little ambush. The idea is to make it look like they grabbed some supplies from us, and were cut down. But with the pursuit, we're unable to get our stuff back. Drink up.

IT IS ALIIIIVE....ahem, its alive.

Tiny I mean, we've been trying to get it to move for days, then I just thumped it good with a rock and the thing started humming before uncurling itself and standing tall.

Stands about a eight foot when its standing tall and its arms reach from its shoulders almost all the way to the ground.

Its drawn some attention but I figure the best way to deal with it is to ignore the attention and treat the damn thing as mundane as possible.
You didn't worship your damn microwave stop thinking you have to worship the damn robot!

Anyways, these 'gnomes' are pretty strong, I have it pulling the plough for now and its working wonders! Why didn’t we have this thing ready for the rest of the work? With its help it barely took any time at all to get the field properly tilled and the carrot seeds all planted.
I’ve got Joe ensuring the irrigation is done properly on these carrot beds, unlike the pumpkins these are going to need to be kept properly watered but we can’t flood them either.

Now that that’s finished I’ve got the Tiny running hauling trips, bringing dirt and stone to the wall under Pauls supervision, its even helping with setting the support stakes into the ground. We have noticed that it gets distracted by shiny rocks every so often but mostly it just needs to be reminded to get back to work.
So the wall is progressing faster as well…we need to get more of these things.

I'm thinking Da Boyz might want to consider putting up some watch towers along the wall or something. I’ll mention it to one of them at meal time.

Damned bastard left at first light like he promised. I couldn’t talk him out of it at all last night. He is dead set on leaving to see Cadia and this army that may or may not be coming into our land. Bastard wouldn’t even take my bow or gun and thinks he is going to survive with just that spear that he hasn’t tested, a knife, and some other goods.

I think he has it in his head that the sickness we both had from that mushroom has helped us adapt to the land. Dumbass is going to eat the wrong thing, trip out for a day or two, and if he doesn’t get eaten by something now that the rains are starting, he will be back.

Odd thing is, as he left he recited a strange version of the old ‘widow’s promise’ to me and then ran over to Phil and said the same thing.

“If it takes forever, I will come back for you
For a thousand summers, I will come for you
Til I’m back beside you, til I’m eating with you
Til we can hunt and learn about this world again.”

He smiles, his sore lips pulled back over his black teeth as blood starts to seep out over them.

He would laugh if he had breath, this man was smart, kill the cancer before it spread. The only way to fight such a terrifying disease.

But he was to late. He had had time in the city before he arrived, time to speak, to talk, to break bread with others.

They had heard his words, new of Pappa Nurgles mercy of his kindness. Was he not the most welcoming, the most friendly and peaceful of the chaos gods.

Would you not rather have him as your soul guide rather than the other three monsters or some nebulous being that does nothing to protect you.

Yes, his words were already spreading. His poison already in the blood.

So he did not despair at his own death, he had expected it to come so he welcomed it with a broad happy smile.

Three men with slings can do a lot of damage. They took down six of the enemy group before they were able to react.

'Success' is a bit of an understatement; we kicked the hornets nest. A lot of them came after us and they managed to kill one of DA BOYZ with a lucky shot. It turned into a very real flight for our lives, but the flight led them along the path of the ambushed party. Our two groups linked up and we fled. It's a shame we won't be able to go back and get the body of our friend.

But I had prepared for that, too. All of us are carrying supplies doused with sick salt. He had a leather wine skin mixed with it. Just a small one half-filled with wine. We don't have infinite supplies to waste on these diversions, after all. Hopefully they'll take it as tribute back to their leader directly. It would decapitate their entire army.

Not that I can hold out much hope of that.

I've poured out little jars of butterroot oil along the path from the Nurglite camp to Cadia next to water sources and areas their army will travel. Why, you ask? Yowlers.

You can already hear them screeching in the distance. They're no match for an army, but every one of the cultists they kill is a cultist that can't face us. Moreover, it removes a danger to the citizens of Cadia.

Water sources along the way have already been poisoned with the sick salts. I don't honestly have enough to kill them if they drink it, but I added enough to make them deathly ill for a few hours. I've had it myself first. It's horrible. I've gotten supplies enough from the Cadians so we could boil up some more, but it takes a while to extract.

Now to see what effect our little force has had. If they drink the local water along the way, they'll get sick. That's a group of soldiers - potentially quite a few - that won't be able to join the assault, or better, most of them will be disabled. And then it's time for a counterattack.

But their leader is canny. I don't think it'll be that easy.

So qe thought the warband had arrived when 250 or so men camped outside the walls. Was getting a sally ready to drive them off when we got word it really had arrived. No idea how many men, at least close to a 1000 if not more, flying a fucking nurgle pennant. Nurgle!!! I think i caught a glimpse at their leader too, scary looking fucker. Then for some reason he left the way he came, leaving about half his guys to siege us. That's when i came up with a cunning plan.

3 nights lateri went out with a wagon train of about 100 people, taking about 10 cadian rifleman with me. They didn't have much ammo, but we didn't need it. We got about a good 500m away from Cadia when we got spotted. Immediately the caravan began to panic and try to turn back to the city while the few riflemen tried to plink with basicly no effect in the dark. This riled the raiders up real good and got essentially the whole force worked up into a freny.

At 200 paces we brought the wagons to a halt and sprung the trap. All the men grabbed their large tortolo Hoplons, spears and pikes while the Sightseers grabbed their longbows and jumped onto the beds of the wagons. This scared them from the way the charge faltered, but it resumed almost immediately. At 140 paces the Sightseers began their volleys. A 2 and a half foot arrow shaft with a bodkin head at 100 paces, thrown by 100 pound draw is a sight to shake a man. The shafts cut through two or three men at times while the riflemen got more hits. When they got with 50 yards the 10 pistoleers we took opened fire almost 4 times as fast as the rifles.

By time they hit the phalanx we had halved their numbers, after what seemed like 30 minutes but was just a few, they broke from losses and confusion. Body count showed we cut down close to 200 and only lost 7 deadand 14 wounded. They ended up abbadoning the siege lines and re-located to a abbadoned farm about 10km away, but i don't think the danger is over yet.

Plus this damn cough won't go away.

Day ??156

My men are being killed.

Not on the field of battle like youd expect but to ambushes at camp. Disgraceful.
Some are even dying of a sickness that no one recognizes. It has symptoms similar to the 'Rot' but much more extreme. I don't know the source yet, but I will.

And then I will have a new weapon to unleash on my enemies.

Day ??157

Damned unholy beasts are everywhere!

We can kill them easy enough but they explode from the jungle madder than ever and always manage to kill atleast a handfull of warriors before it is brought down.

It seems Cadia does have tamed Dragons, fair. enough, I've gotten word the newest tribe is bringing something special from the western plains for when we finally attack.

Day ??158

I've decided that I have had enough of waiting around.

I've ordered the men to begin the tortures and start to goad the raider army between us and the wall into attacking the wall. I've already had messengers head out to them, none of which have returned, with talk of redemption and salvation, if they prove they are worthy they may join the horde as a free warrior.

Its all bullshit but desperate men will believe even the greatest of lies.

Day ??160

They didnt last long.

The raiders are charging the wall as I speak.

My wife's little 'Paladins' have been doing their work. Every single second around that sickening, poisonous cancer of a human being made me feel ill. He was a preacher, one that spread words like poison and pestulant disease.

It's apt that my wife is titled 'The Canoness'. Like militant zealots, they've been running around spouting bible quotes and attempting to burn away the fear, restore resolve and build up weakened spirits.

A lot of his pox-marked vitriol has spread already. It's well that they have fiery faith; fire is the best way to sterilize something and burn away corruption.

Honestly I wonder if we've inflicted something worse on these people, but that's just the maltheist in me speaking. I hope they don't piss of the Cadian leadership too much. Either way, they're offering spiritual support to the lost and confused and fearful, doing their damndest to burn out the corruption from the inside before it can fester.

If someone does turn? My men are ready to do what needs doing.

The Cadians aren't weak. They've already weathered a storm. They're smart, strong willed, and have the resolve to fight. The Rangers are amazing skirmishers. And we? We are the fire, here to purge the unclean ones.

Fitting that your bastard paladins all wear bright orange then, eh?

It’s been a long time since I’ve truly been on my own. I’ve been running all day and I’m taking a short break in a tree off the forest floor that is starting to turn to mud. At mid-day I removed my boots and stuffed them into the hunters sack. It’s easier to move in the rain and mud barefoot and you don’t risk destroying good boots.

I’ve eaten all but one of my potatoes that we cooked before I set out on this journey. The other won’t last another day so I’ll eat it for breakfast. I also picked a few of the oranges from a bush I passed on the way here. They’re still not ripe enough and will be extremely bitter, but I know they’ve got some kind of nutrition in them I can use.

Based on my map I’m about half a day’s journey past our old camp. The river should be about a kilometer to the north, and Cadia should be another three days if I am able to keep up this pace. I’m expecting closer to five though because the map they helped me draw is just too inaccurate.
--
It’s been two days and the fauna have begun mating again. I’m well into the unknown territories the refugees fled through. As bad of an idea as it is I may have to move in closer to the river to follow this map.

Apparently my coat caused one of the local deer creatures to think I was a potential mate or contestant for a mate. Either way, it lowered its head and sprung at me with great force. I had just finished moving my spear towards it when it gored itself on the end. I wish I had more time or a dry place to build a fire so I could cook it. Unfortunately, I had to leave the corpse for some scavenger creature to eat. It’s not that big of a deal though, the short grasses have started budding and some of the fruit and berry plants I learned about from the refugees are in bloom. I will have food to make it.

>>28136267
((Ha!))

>>28136243
We decided to make a point.

We still have guns. The Cadians and rangers do as well. Often, ammo is conserved. Not this time.

The cultists are far from unarmed, but this is a good time to absolutely crush them, smash them, and route them.

Blunt their morale. The enemy fears their leader. We need to teach them who to fear more. Make them falter before they try to assault us again.

Attacking us is certain death. They cannot be allowed to engage in a protracted siege.

So I ordered my best shots on the wall.

Shooting squirrel sized creatures for a year is long enough for men to get very, very good at range.

When I was in the army, I usually shot expert. My eyesight is no longer better than 20/20, unfortunately, but I could still hit something at 300 yards, most of the time. Not frying my eyes in front of a computer all the time helped my sight recover, and I do wear glasses for a reason.

Jason was far better. He's practically a sniper at this point. He's my best soldier, my lieutenant.

We shot for the legs.

We don't want them dead. We want them wounded, stopped, their forces maimed and crushed. Let them drag away hordes of the wounded.

The Rangers are good as well. Many have bows, or firearms of their own. I don't want us to spend all our ammo, once they got close we swapped to slings. Just like a .22.

We aimed for the ones with firearms first. In truth, some of them were just as good at shooting as we were. But there was a difference. We had stone walls to duck behind, and they did not.

They didn't quite make it to the walls. The moaning wails of the wounded wove across the battlefield like a black song. They've got a lot more people, though. This was just a minor raid. It was time to send a message.

I had one of the wounded dragged in, treated his wounds, and gave him a small package to take back to their leader.

A well wrapped bar of soap.

Day ??161

I am unhappy.

The raiders we butchered, I didnt expect them to last long reall, but not even a full day and the onyl ones alive are bleeding out on the ground infront of the city.

Well, there are those that fled, but I have a very special use I intend for them.

They attempted to force the gate but ended up being slaughtered without a single one stepping within the wall.

Useless.

Day ??166

Salt?!!

SALT IS KILLING MY MEN!

My men have been getting this sickness everytime they returned from finding an as ambushed patrol or scouting party, every single time. and why? Because they ate and drank the stuff they found there, the fucking idiots!

I ordered anyone else to find a dead patrol to being everything they found and if any of them turned sick it was because Nurgle was punisheng them for failing.

What did they find? Wine and salt. Fed it to one of the imprisoned raiders. Immediate results.

I'm going to personally break whoever did this and then leave whats left to my lovely wife.
Their life will be a hell I will not permit to end.

Day ??168

I've doubled patrols and made sure my men know that there are enemies out there ready to ambush them.

I've also posted patrols on the closest water sources, a few of the ones closest to the city have already been tainted.

Why do I suspect its the same person who spread the salt?

Day ??173

Glorius success!

The acolyte priests I sent north have managed to sway most of the city tribes, each is sending warriors to the cause of breaking Cadia.

I believe it is finally time begin this siege in earnest.

Day ??173

Ha...hahaha...HAHAHAHA!

He sent me soap!

He is asking for it! I just know this is the same one behind the salt, the poisoned water and that sniping effort.

Regardless of these efforts, and the losses we took when their rifle fire goaded an unplanned charge, I made it clear any who charged without orders would be left to wail on the battlefield.

But I have moved the siege effort forward.
The lines have been moved back out of immediate rifle range, the construction of a palisade ringing northern side of the city has begun and a small wooden fort built to house my retinue for now.

The caravans have begun to travel regularly and after one of them being attacked behind our lines I have had them accompanied by dedicated guard units.

We now have a supply line, incoming reinforcements and the beginings of a proper siege.

Day ??174

Almost forgot. The Slaanesh have begun construction on the catapults, seven in all, being constructed out of sight of the walls.

They should be a nasty suprise when they are ready.

This is the oddest thing. I thought the rains season covered the entire eastern continent, but as I drew closer to Cadia the rain has been letting up. This planet has always had rain…. But it’s not the monsoon season here.

Maybe the mountains around Cadia change the way storms work here. Maybe this is . . . oh god, I need to stop writing now, I almost made a 40k joke about the terrain.

I’ve been dealing with a lot more of the deer lunging at me. This one is a different species from the ones down at the Tower. I notice most of them before they lunge and I can act defensively, but a few have caught me by surprise and knocked me over. The first I buried my knife into its stomach and slit it open up to the neck. Thankfully the rain has washed most of its remains away now. The other managed to buck while on top of me and its rear hoof clawed into the top of my thigh. The leather on my pants are ripped open and I’m taking a break to eat an orange and stitch my leg as well as pants.

I can see smoke from fires on the horizon. I should arrive by tomorrow.
>>
>>28136342
The enemy managed to capture five of my men.

That's the hardest part, knowing these people so well by now, and yet being faced with the stark reality of something like that. Two of them had wives. They'll probably never see them again.

They were at one of our favorite ambush spots, using slings to rain down fire on the enemy. I had gotten careless in sending them out to the same place every time. A group of them had snuck out ahead the night before. Almost thirty, and had hidden all night. Amazing discipline I wouldn't have thought the cultists capable of.

Shield, spear, armor - they fought well. One of the party escaped, managed to tell me. They took down almost half of them before being rushed, their backs to the cliff, and getting overwhelmed.

I'm going to make them pay.

Their leader has gotten wise to the use of sick salt, but not necessarily their allies. I've ordered Jason out with the boats behind their camps. According to a captured raider, they're getting reinforcements. That is unacceptable.

The trail to the camp from /b/ territory is getting the same treatment. Dead men with sick salted wine, poisoned water sources, and so on. They're going to lose a good few of those reinforcements before they arrive.

My boats are patrolling the coast. Whatever comes down that way won't last long.

The other thing we've done is put the paladins up on the walls. Every time we capture a raider or fight of a siege, they're there spouting battle-sermons. I'm rather amused by it, and hopeful a Christian cult will spring up inside their ranks.

A new ship arrived from the keep today. Not many people, but a lot of goods.

It was entirely full of butterroot oil.

I've avoided doing this up until now because of the clear danger of drawing Yowlers to the walls, but I'm ready to light up the battlefield. I've identified the strategically sound points of attack, and ordered them doused with oil before a major assault begins. Not for minor raids, mind you. Just major assaults. Archers with fire arrows are ready to set the ground on fire when they attack.

Here's to hoping he's never seen Braveheart.

Well damn, I didn’t expect them to actually do it.
The rangers walked into my farm today with three scale wolfs on leashes, more like muzzles mixed with hand cuffs the way they bound the jaws and forearms.
They have been tied up separately nearby the farm and I’m scrambling to assemble some of the build teams and my work group to try and construct something like corral and stables for them.
Problem is I don’t have the space on the farm, but I know the land adjacent to mine is meant for farm land as well but with the Mayor gone there is no one to turn to I’ve got no one to ask permission of officially.
Damn it. I’m gonna try the Canoness, the permission I get might just be temporary but I am not pissing the mayor off, he already doesn’t like these things.
Not much else has been going on, the walls are underway and the fields are being cared for and the only problem with the puppies people have adopted is that they have been a little rowdy with each other when they meet, but they like people well enough and as long as they know them they can be pretty friendly.
Actually that’s another thing, I need to get on those leatherworkers about finally making me a saddle.
>>
>>28136416
I finally made it close to Cadia and honestly, I don’t know why I wanted to be here. Cadia is a city under attack by what is reported to be a massive horde of people from /b/. If I wasn’t so interested in watching what is happening I think I’d almost prefer being back in one of the slums in China while drunk and trying to find a cab.

There are loads of supplies being drawn into the city to fight off the horde. People, and military men running around with jobs to do and probably other people to kill. I still can’t understand why humans are so driven to kill each other even when put on a separate planet. Rather than working together they’re clubbing each other for table scraps. Correction…. Cadia would be a really nice table scrap now that I’ve seen more of it.

I’ve been keeping the hood up on my cloak and trying to move about the city without drawing too much attention to myself. It’s hard to move in shadows and blend into crowds with this ornate Builder spear though. I have yet to see someone else with a similar condition. I may be the only one who chose this method of healing Black Eye. This may be a problem because I’m hearing reports of the /b/ warband being obsessed with Nurgle. The last thing I need is for them to think I’m infected or a spy.

Journal of Pastor Amanda, the Canoness
The little robot has been causing some problems, but to be honest it's less severe than it could be. I've had my paladins out and about, calming nerves. I think most of the former cultists have abandoned their false idols at this point. It's just a strange artifact; not an object worthy of worship.

Does it really compare with the technological feats made by the hand of man in our old world? Really? No. It's not a quantum computer, it's not made of carbon nanotubes. It's just a little clever robot. That's what I've emphasized in Church. It drinks the ethanol we give it, for goodness sakes! What does god need with ethanol?

Leading these people is difficult. With the mayor gone, a lot of them feel lost. I'm providing for them as best I can, though.

We keep making boats and sending off supplies. I hope they make it okay.

Oh, in other news, my little puppy is cute! The mayor has being way too paranoid. The lucky farmer that brought us the first one, 'Franky', has made some suggestions. Towers on his wall, and a place to breed and house more of the scale wolves. The mayor is very particular about sticking to his city plan, so I've decided to label it a ranch, because that's technically a farm, right? He'll probably understand that.

It's hard knowing my husband may not ever come back, but if we could raise cavalry, it might make it safer for him. I don't know if they'll help in this war, but if there's a next one, I'll have mounts for him to use.
>>
>>28136505
( I know if I heard about these other cities and the events happening at them I'd personally sprint off to go watch. However, I'm just one dude with zilch in war supplies and without jumping into the fight and going over 9000 in power there's not much I can do. So, unless one of the defenders wants to notice Barney the Dinosaur walking through town I'm just gona perch up on a roof or wall and watch the city burn.

I'll be writing from James in the mean time)

Day ??182
Five men captured.

Oh no. Not today, a couple of days, happened almost a weak ago.

Why didn't I know about it? They had been brought to my hill fort and presented to me, so why didnt I know?
Because my wife had been the one who accepted them in my place.

She had accepted the prisoners for 'me' and kept them as 'toys' for the last week.
They pulled an escape attempt, two killed, one injured and two others escaped into the wilderness.

My sweetheart was punished for this mistake and is currently recovering under care of the forts medicae but as for the last prisoner.

I'm giving him the 'Rot' myself and then pulling the lever that sends him over the wall.

Lieutenant Jason's Notes:
These Nurgle bastards are tough. We've been fighting on the coast, fighting their damn caravans and every last one of them is tighter than a nun's behind.

They're starting to ramp up their security a lot, which means we have to send out more of us with every raid, which means more risk. There's only fifty of us. Yeah, we've been getting a lot of help from the Rangers and Cadians, but the Mayor loves doing his own damn thing, so most of these raids are all us.

I have more blood on my hands than I've ever had before. I don't like killing people. I just don't. But I have to. This could be the keep, if we lose here. I don't want that to happen.

I'm mostly just trying to play nice with everyone. The Mayor is doing his best to manipulate everyone so they do what he wants. People put up with him because he's killed a ton of cultists, but he manages to piss off a lot of the people here. The more success he has, the more that changes. But he's not easy to like. The paladins are preaching night and day.

That leaves the rest of us to get along with everyone. Share a drink, throw some dice, play a game. Show them that we're human. We're their allies. Yeah, I'm a tall scary black man, but people here are warming up to me. Not to the Mayor. He doesn't join in the games, doesn't socialize. He just obsesses over that nurgle leader and killing him like a tiny bespeckled little aspie. Amanda would be jealous if she knew.

Saw a strangely dressed guy in town with a builder spear today. No idea what's up with him. I don't think he's a Nurgle spy, though. Too healthy. Well, no matter. He's welcome to fight if he wants to.

((There's no doubt the keep forces would accept you if you joined them, so you could write out going on a raid or two.))

Day ??183

The Catapults have been completed, bigger than I expected as well. Ready to rain hell on Cadia and the people inside.

They've also been fitted with large wooden shields to protect the crew from enemy fire, padded with branches and wet grass.

They are being moved into position now and the prisoner is being led with them, allready sick and coughing.

I'll have them test the distance with rocks first but once we've got it down, Im sending him over personally.

After him the raider prisoners will be going over all sick to death as well. They wont survive the landing or do much damage but thats hardly the point.

Day ??184

Damn that asshole.

I've needed to dedicate far to much of my force to watching my own back and now even more need to be sent to watch over the territory because my men are to big of fucking idiots not eat thigns they find on the ground.

Shit, that /b/ bastard is taking this Nurgle stuff way to serious! He started flinging corpses over the walls the other day. They’re exploding on impact and the chunks are already rotting away and full of parasites. I think I heard several of the bodies wailing and crying as they flew through the air. Is this a different sickness that rots the body pre-mortem?

I don’t know if I can keep being a bystander in this fight. I may have to report to someone my intentions and where I’m from or I could be shanked in an alley by a soldier who thinks I’m a Nurgle worshipper. Warhammer fluff was awesome, but did people seriously think there are Chaos gods? How could anyone think there is a god after being thrown onto this planet from hell. . . fuck it, Chaos is real and we are in the Eye on a death world. I can see how you could make the conclusion. Still, where is that hot Eldar ass for love to bloom? Where’s -----

Well, I was scribbling notes while walking and I just walked into a dreadnaught. Apparently the defense has a few of these sitting here. As if naming this place Cadia and fighting off a Chaos horde wasn’t bad enough we’ve now got fighting robots. Point me to the closest Commissar, this abhuman is reporting for duty.
>>
>>28135032
awesome looking dude, though those coats!
>>
>>28136480

Okay, I’ve gotten permission from up high to build the ‘ranch’ and I’m pulling in help from a build team and my robot. Yeah it’s ‘my’ robot I’m the one who got it to work and I’m the one it follows around when it doesn’t have direction.
That last parts rather annoying actually, kind of scared off the pretty girl at the tannery when I was trying to chat her up while the boss thought about my idea for a saddle. Or it might have been my horrific set of scars.
Who cares, I’m getting my saddle.
The actual corral was the easy part, we used freshly cut trees to make a tall fence circling a large area for them to run around in, and then gave it extra support struts to avoid them knocking the fence down. Now we are constructing a roofed penned area for them to sleep with its own set of gates to keep them locked up if we have to.
Before this goes any further however I’m taking Franky out for a ride around the corral, see if these things even let people ride them. I’ve already grabbed a blanket and Franky from my place and managed to gather a small crowd interested in seeing if it works, or just to see me fall in the dirt a bunch of times.
This promises to be an interesting experience.

War Journal

I've been deployed to Cadia along with a heavy loud out team to assist in the efforts against the invasion. More cultists. Smart ones this time, but still cultists. What is interesting though is that we have a united front from all the citystates of the /tg/ lands. While it's not All united under Kog like I had hoped back in the early days, the fact that they're here shows that there is a strong alliance and I'd feel glad about that, but I don't. I know human nature. Once the bandits, raiders and cultists are forever banished from our lands, it's only a matter of time before we turn on each other. It's human nature. We all have strong armies and armies need war. Already there is some friction between combined forces leaders, everyone has their own ideas and are too used to operating on their own. Well, hopefully whatever happens doesn't happen in our life times. That would be tragedy. Well, back to the battle fields. We have fresh clay pot landmines from the science guild to try out.

(I'd join in this war but I have work now. Good luck)

What, you don't like my purple and red pimp coat? Are you with PETA?!

Seriously, heavily water resistant fur, natural color, insulation, did I mention it's a fur coat and there is no PETA on this planet? What's not to love about it?!

Thanks though. I wish I had kept the paper to add a few changes to it. It's sense been tossed in the trash before heading home.

We got a few of our own back, today. One came through the gate. One went over the walls. The escapee had much to say.

So the Nurgle priest has a religious wife too. Shame his is a batshit insane skank. A slaaneshi cultist. Go figure.

He was in poor shape. Once we get back, I'm ordering a medal made up for him. We're giving him all the medication we can spare. He's bad off. For a while, I was back to my roots as a medic. There are better people here, but he's mine. I cared for him. Full protective leather gear, of course. Can't underestimate the Nurgle scum.

I was just recovering that when the other one came over the wall. He landed with a sickening wet crack. He was... he was a good man. A very good man. They sent more. I ordered them burned. The Cadians would have objected, but they were too busy with the walls. We had protective gear for the disease. I'll have to bathe well soon, with alcohol and soap.

It was damn dangerous on the walls. They have catapults. If only we knew! If only we REALIZED. Maybe I could have made a raid, or figured something out. As it was, we sent our archers up above with flame arrows.

Jason had seen the major assault coming while I was healing our man and had laid out the oil. Thank fucking goodness. This could have been a disaster.

The catapults killed three archers anyway. Not entirely ours, but enough.

The battlefield was set on fire.

Some of it, anyway. The effect was pretty underwhelming. Many arrows missed their mark, and when the fire caught, it didn't set everything on fire. A lot of it wasn't where the catapults were. When it did catch fire, it wasn't a spectacular explosion. Just a poof and a line of flame.

But it was a flame that kept burning. It burned their infantry, mostly. Their catapults were covered in grass - probably soaked wet. The ones caught in the flame weren't protected underneath, though, and a catapult is still wood.

Panic spread through their ranks. One attack broken. More will come.
>>
>>28136663
I haven't been doing all the work. Mech suits, robots, and land mines. Damn those Rangers hit hard.

If I'd ever thought I'd go to war with them, I don't ever want to now. They're simply too well armed. It's still a pipe dream, but I hope those scale wolves turn out to be good mounts. If we could have cavalry, the catapults would have been much less dangerous. They left one of their flanks unprotected because they knew we couldn't assault it. It BURNS me to know that.

I watched one of those suits crush a man today. What good is a gun against that?

That's a serious question, of course. I have to figure out what I'd do if I were the enemy. If I knew, I'd prepare countermeasures. Those suits comprise the hard hitting 'tanks' of our forces. They're our heavies. Some of the assaults would NOT have been stopped without them.

Bullets won't work. Bombs? Land mines? Land mines... yes. We're already using them, which would give him the idea. A strong enough explosion might disable one. Doubt they've got a rocket launcher or they'd have used it already, but I've got to be prepared in case they do get one, or a major old-world weapon. Or goodness forbid, an actual home made mortar. Those aren't as complex as people think. The Iraqis hit my base in the old world with the fucking things enough times, cobbled together from spare junk.

Makes me wonder why we don't have them. I could have had hand cannons made out of wood, like the old Chinese. Or something!

Disease is another major danger. But the soap, the alcohol, my nazilike attitude towards sanitation and the paladins don't let that take hold. Not yet, anyway. But that's one way to take down a mech suit. I'm sure the Nurglite, of all people, realizes that. A man can't pilot it if he's too sick to move.

Pits, ambushes. More dangers. There's a lot of ways to take one down.

Here's to hoping he doesn't figure them out.

I’m thinking about renaming Franky into silver or at least calling myself Rooster, actually that wouldn’t be to hard, I don’t think I ever told anyone my actual name here, everyone just calls me Lucky.

Getting back on track, the first few attempts were either a frustrating or hysterical depending on your perspective, mine and everyone else respectively.

Franky seemed to delight in waiting for me to get on and settled before bucking me off without warning.

The last time she even leant forward, balanced on her arms and forelegs and raised her back into the air and bucking me off. The laughter was deafening.

Finally however I got her to stop horsing around….shut up….and got her to let me on and not me off again. After that she sort of trotted around the corral with my on top.

Its actually pretty easy to give her directions, it just takes a little nudging with the knees, a lot like with actual horses. Additionally, they can bend their knees unlike horses and lower themselves to the ground to help you on and off and I think it’ll probably be easier to ride them on uneven terrain.

I think I’ll take her out again in the morning, have the other Scale Wolves watching from their pens now that they’ve been moved there. Hopefully that will make them more receptive to the idea of working with people.

No idea really, could make them want to kill me, who knows.

I kid, I kid, no way I’d volunteer for this fight under someone elses banner. I want the ability to dip out and return home if someone decides the unit should do a suicide charge for their cities honor. Up until a little while ago the only honor I wanted was that of my two friends. Now the Tower has expanded, but the refugees have already mentioned fleeing at the first sign of trouble. They’re nice, but I don’t think I could ever form a bond with them that I’m realizing I’ve formed with James and Phil.

I was in the middle of explaining to several soldiers my condition and my need for proper accommodations for the night when the sky was lit up with a raging inferno on the other side of the wall. Hearing the blaze the five of us went to the top of the wall to see what was happening.

Before us was a long line of fire all-consuming everything in its path. Raiders were flailing around trying to remove the flames but the oil stuck to their bodies and the fire licked away at the flesh as they ran around.

Whoever was leading the defense was doing an amazing job raising moral with the troops. My section of the wall lit up with cheers as we all watched the Nurgle worshipers fall back away from the inferno.
>>
>>28136736
Wouldn't they have already shown diverse reactions to your clothing before deciding to mount it? The wolves may be one of the few not to care about the butterroot. Or maybe it's the root that's making them so docile.
>>
>>28136773
It could be. I figure it's too late to have them go berserk or anything now, but you can do a lot of things other than make them crazy.

Docility is a good idea, but it's up to Lucky Rooster.

And yes, that's totally going to be his name now.

Day ??184

Holy fuck do they have a lot of shit to throw at us!

Landmines, fire archers, fire traps, guns and did I forget to mention FUCKING MECHA!

Where the hell did they come from? And why don’t we have any?

Doesn’t matter the reinforcements from the west arrived and they brought exactly what I needed. See the western tribes managed something few people seem to have, they’ve tamed some of the wildlife.

Only two species but both are useful to our cause.

The little things are called Hambeasts, and are their main source of food, leather and fat, a lot like pigs really but more round, three long hoofed legs and craggy mottled yellow skin. But there are a lot of them and they have a thick layer of fat beneath the skin. Lathered in fat themselves and set on fire I expect they could melt even stone.

The large animals they call the Aurochs and they are BIG, at least the size of a bull elephant, with six heavy trunk like legs, plated skin like armor and a huge pair of forward facing horns these things will break lines like nothing else.

These ones aren’t quite tame, more like their rider is meant to direct them when they aren’t being led about by groups of spear men and we do only have five of them but they should make a good shock attack after the Hambeasts, especially loaded up with shield bearers protecting them from enemy fire.
>>
>>28136744
I’ve found the “orange ones” the refugees were looking for when they found us. Apparently Butterroot Keep sent troops up here to Cadia. They’re a much larger keep with a lot of production capabilities and their leader is the one who pulled off that inferno earlier.

I’ve secured shelter and some simple food from the Cadian military I was talking with. They’re allowing me to bunk in a corner of their barracks in exchange for going out on a night assault with them. As much as I’d prefer staying out of this conflict I’ve agreed to it. When they offered to let me take an actual hot shower with actual soap I nearly cried. I don’t care that some Canonesses’ priestesses are preaching cleanliness, or that the Butterroot Leader is demanding mandatory showering time. I don’t care that I’m fucking purple and the second I remove my coat and leathers it will cause an uproar. I don’t give a flying fuck if they want me to make a charge on the /b/ lines tonight!

I GET TO TAKE A HOT SHOWER!

I’m just gona leave this journal here and go, F-____

Someone is mocking me.

I woke up this morning and found a simply leather stetson sitting infront of my door.
Damnit maybe I ought to shave.

I've been riding Franky around the corral a couple times this last week and even around town a little, people are suddenly really interested in the idea of having a Scale Wolf as a pet, I've goten at least a dozen requests for a puppy out of the next litter.

The three in the pens are a little skittish, okay a lot skittish, they don't like Franky getting near, let alone me and stick mostly togethe, growling at anything else that gets close.

A bit harder to tell with the carrots but I think they are doing allright.

Gonna need to think of something soon.

Pumpkins are growing really well, they've already reached about half the size I'd expect back home. I suspect the compost is helping them significantly.

The carrots aren't taking as well and I'm unsure as to why yet, me and joe are gonna have a good look at them in a minute.

>>28136805
They have cavalry. They have FUCKING CAVALRY! Those sons of bitches!

Here I am, burning about not having any, and they bring theirs up like they're rubbing them in our faces! Fffffffffuuuuuuuuck!

They hit our lines like a storm today, killed a bunch of Rangers and Cadians and two of DA BOYZ out on patrol. They're big enough to fuck up a mech suit, even! Well, it's time for another trick I learned from the Iraqis.

The local yowler population has been severely depleted, since they've been getting killed off by the /b/astards. Even so, that much oil drew them in from miles around. Convenient, to have medicine chests walk to us. We shot them from the walls, then went and collected the ichor from their corpses.

I have another trick.

I've had the carcasses hollowed out and sent back along the paths of ambush. Any time they spot cavalry coming near, a scout drops a small jar of burning oil on it or shoots it with a fire arrow and then runs for the hills.

What good does that do, you might ask?

I've also borrowed a few landmines. No one expects yowler corpses to explode.

This won't work for long. Soon they'll avoid animal corpses. But I remember a friend that was injured by an exploding camel carcass, his humvee thrashed. That's always stuck with me. I'm going to make sure it sticks with them.

I don't have enough oil to pull off that burning field trick twice. I've got to bleed them every chance I get. I'm getting low on oil. I hope this works, or we get more supplies soon.

I've also got another tactic. My slingers are practicing flinging small clay pots of what oil we have left, set up like molotov cocktails. That's already fucked up in a big way once and taken three of my guys out of the fight with severe burns when we practiced, but imagine one of those big animals gets hit with one. It won't kill them, but it'll send those giant beasts into a rage.

That's my fuck you for getting cavalry first. He has cavalry. I could fucking cry.

My 'wife' is still recovering, though I find it hard to care after her foolishness.

Im having S'ndra keep me company for now, its nice to have a rational mind to talk too, and she has some of the most wonderful ideas,

Day ??185

I'm ordering the charge. Two ranks of warriors to charge the walls for an escalade with wooden ladders.

While that happens I'm having my Acolytes performs a chanting dance and song just out of rifle range and on the edge of the forest. At the climax fo the whole performance they will each cut the throat of one slave as sacrifice.

After that Im having the barrels of fat lit infront of them and then charging the Hambeasts through, directly at the gate.

Folloing them the five Aurochs will charge carrying the men forming a turtleshell out of Shields.

With any luck it will look like a proper daemon summoning, especially with the sacrifice.

So yeah, military style showers in the middle of a siege. Not exactly private. Not exactly separate gendered.

It’s been forever since I’ve seen a naked woman and. . . Surprisingly, I’m okay with that. It’s a little weird when you realize your libido is completely gone. Hmm, oh well.

The one unnerving thing is that as expected, I had a lot of strange looks directed at me the whole time. You’d think one of the river crocodiles had come up and started mating right in the middle of the shower.

I don’t understand why more people haven’t used the fungus I used. Sure you end up with a huge period of time where we can’t move and you’re in constant pain from the fungal infection, but at least I can still see things correctly.

I’ve trimmed my beard and properly cleansed my hair as the priestess suggested. Well, more demanded and with some heavy biblical overtones about cleanliness. Doesn’t matter now. I’m dressed and we move out soon to scout out the edges of the Nurgle patrols.
>>
We've been under siege long enough. I've dispatched Invicta and Bjorn to walk. They will assault the catapults armed in Nightmare wood shields, Bjorn with the fell hand and Invicta with the axe. A contingent of armed men, including some of my 'karskins' with assault rifles from the old world and equipped with the first 'grenades' really just pipebombs but who are we to cry foul. The Armors I expect to last for at least the mission.

These are the brightest motes we have, they will burn into the night, the barbarians along with them.

((also I've apparently got to pour footers and clean barns today. FUCK))

Lieutenant Jason's Notes:

We had a cult pop up in the keep.

It was small, but they tried to set fire to the oil supply. The Mayor screamed for an hour about it. We're lucky that our own guys were guarding it. You can't take 'em by surprise.

That greasy guy the mayor killed converted 'em before we arrived. They thought they'd get protection when we lost. The cavalry showing up was enough to make them flip out and try something.

Doubt that's all of 'em. The Paladins are patrolling, trying to root 'em out. I hate those bastards. What did they think they were doing? Do they WANT to live under a nutcase like that?

Well, that's not my job. I'm training with the slings. We've got to be careful with 'em. They'll burn you to a crisp in an instant. Those three guys - they'll live. But we're a lot more careful when we practice now.

I had the guy with the fungal infection brought in. Odd to do in the middle of a siege, I know, but I'm medically minded first and foremost. It's curious. He claims it's a cure for the black eye, and maybe it is. Either way, I gave him a bottle of whiskey for the pain is causes. Once this is over I have to see if it can be cured.

He may not want to be cured, of course, and that's fine as long as it isn't infectious. I've made an offer for him to train with and try to fight with DA BOYZ. It'll let me keep an eye on that infection, limit its spread if it is. They are religiously clean. I don't think he's a nurgle cultist, though. He has dyes.

I want to know more about where he's from. He obviously didn't figure out all of that himself, and builder weapons indicates he may be a scout from a settlement. If he is, maybe I'll open trade with his village or group. But I'm not going to ask just yet.

I have other priorities at the moment. He's a curiosity that will have to wait until after.

>>28136948

Day ??185

Just when I though we had killed all the dragons they have turned their corpses into bombs.
Damn it all, we lost 40 men who had been sent to secure one of the flanks to that thing.

Now we have to be wary of corpses as well.

On top of that our catapult lines have been assaulted by men with armor, automatic weapons and TWO goddamn mechs.

My men were slaughtered and only the two catapults on the other flank still stand, theyve crushed the ones they charged and the crew and the guarding force are either dead or fled. Good news is we infilcted some casualties on the fuckers as well.

I've ordered a sizable force to divert to make them pay but I somehow doubt they will reach them in time, they've allready begun pulling back, carrying their casualties with them.

It doesnt matter really, the hambeasts have allready reached the gate. The heat has got to be terible for anyone on the walls, I wonder how long it will take for the fire to burn through the gate.

The Aurochs are readyuing where I had them 'summoned' and the second the gate looks like its breaking apart they are to charge and break through.

As an added effect I've had a couple men on each beast carrying a little flask. The contents are a mix of the 'salt' we've been finding and some of the nastier plant spores that we collected. Mixed together into a powder it should make an effective airborn weapon when tossed into the streets.

Like the 'Rot' its only deadly if left untreated but its debilitating as hell and if we are lucky, the sickness part will be contagious.
>>
>>28136953
Assholes! Tricked me into going on a scouting patrol and not a few minutes before we were set to go out the call to arms is sounded over the camp. Now they tell me I have to go join the other rank and file goons on the ramparts to defend against the incoming swarm.

--

Well the Nurgle bastard has some class. While his troops advanced on the walls he had some other men do a stupid little dance in the rear, then lit a fire and ran some native pig creatures through the fire. Roman’s used a similar tactic, well at least they used the pigs and their sacrifices were normally lambs while Papa Nurgle used some humans for his, although they both using virgin sacrifices.

It still wracks my mind how many people he can slaughter on his own side and how he can keep sending swarms of people at these walls. I wish I knew the population of 4chan viewers because I never thought you could get a whole bloodthirsty mob of them to do the things he is doing.

Anyways, two waves of humans charged the walls with ladders. Most of them didn’t make it under the blanket of bullets, arrows, javelin, and slingshots. A few ladders made it against the wall but like anyone who has seen Lord of the Rings we all kicked them back off when people got half way up like good little rampart drones.

I honestly didn’t give a fuck about the pig light show and was having too much fun kicking down ladders to notice the massive Elephant charging the wall.

The archers, slings, and javelins were doing nothing to drop the massive 6 legged beasts or their human cargo riding on the back of them. The rifle men spread throughout the ranks were cracking the shields of the humans but the armor on the elephant was too strong for anything but the true hunting rifles. One of the elephants down the line dropped when one of the riflemen broke through the armor plating.
The pigs and elephants were all congregating at the gates of the wall. They intended to break the gates and storm the city. I hoped Cadia had proper defenses for this situation. I hope what I did next wasn’t a massive mistake.
I slapped one of the glow stones into the staff and let it churn out a five second continuous burst of bright glorious retribution on the humans atop the mount closest to myself. Three elephants were left to pound on the gates but I had done something unspeakable. The damned thing is way too powerful as it sliced the men in half, cauterizing their wounds like some bad Darth Maul fan fiction. I watched a few of them yell as they were trampled underneath the elephant. I had hoped not to need this, I didn’t want to reveal its power… but fucking war elephants! I gave the defenders two more seconds of power from my stone to pierce the elephants head. It dropped like a puppet after someone cut the strings. If this is the kind of weaponry the builders had I would hate to have seen them at war.

I fucked up. I fucked up bigtime.

The bombs did their job, did a lot of damage. That's good.

But it didn't mean a damn when the siege hit.

They had a big wall of huge beasts. They were smart, and protected them with a shield wall. The oil we threw made the men scream and panic, but the beasts were protected. If not for the mech suits, they'd have done worse still.

It was turned by the fellow with the infection. His staff... no wonder people worship those old artifacts. They're powerful. It burns me to think that we're going to have to scavenge for them. Becoming dependent upon them is a real danger. I'm going to have to revamp efforts to make a steam tractor when I get home, force industry to start. There's a limited supply of builder artifacts out there, and we need to be able to build stuff to compete. Not lose ourselves to builder madness.

But I'm rambling, trying to distract myself from my real mistake. When these pigs - hambeasts, their handlers shouted - came up to the wall, I had my men throw oil at them.

Oh, they panicked. They screamed and squealed and ran everywhere, even killed some of their own men and lit each other on fire. And they burned like thermite.

They didn't get everything to the walls, thankfully. But some of the stone melted. I had sand gathered to deal with pots accidentally splashing us, but I didn't prepare for anything like this. The wall is mostly intact, but the main gate is severely messed up.

Raids are now a much higher priority. We're going to make it our main goal to shoot those things with flame arrows before they ever get close to our lines. If this happens again, we're going to have the wall breached.

And they still have those damn catapults.

It was not until the aftermath that I noticed the little containers.

Sick salt looks like normal salt, but it's more flakey. Flatter. Once you know it, it's easy to tell apart from regular coarse grain salt.

Looks like my gift had been returned in full, with an extra gift besides. It was also stuffed with fungus.

I immediately put on a mask and sterilized myself, and mobilized the Paladins. They took the remains of those pig-things and used them to burn the pots where they lay.

I've ordered everyone to take a dose of ichor and alcohol mixed with the insect. Who knows what crap they put in there.

The sick salt shouldn't do much harm since it's not in water, but I don't actually know much about it. It might. A lot of people near the fumes of the burning flasks of illness reported feeling nauseous.

Several people who were exposed to them have already gotten sick. I've ordered them quarantined, and dosed with every medicine we have until they're either better or dead.

Damn.

They've got to run out of supplies to feed themselves eventually. The raids on their supply lines are going to have to step it up. No food must make it to them. We've got to break this siege.

Day ??186

I'm not sure how much longer we can keep this up.
/b/ always had a huge mass of people to follow it, both serious and casual, but even our numbers are running thin.

Their guns and mechs managed to halt the attack, even the Aurochs werent enough on that attack.

We only have enough for a couple more serious pushes before we either have to commit our entire force or pull back. If we keep taking casualties like this we wont be able to protect our flanks or our supplies while pushing the assault.

Whats worse is the camp is starting to suffer under sickness. Somehow the acolytes has spread this as a good thing among the most fanatical and even the barely pious arent letting it get to them so moral hasnt suffered to badly.

But sick people are weak and dead if they cant rest and heal.

Day ??187

New plan.

Im having the remaining catapults pounding the gate, which has allready been seriously damaged, after softening it up throughout the night.

I've had trenches dug around them and the last remaining guns distributed to the men inside them. Infront of them I have a line of pikemen and swordsmen to intercept any charge.

I've also ordered the vials thrown at any Mech, at least that way even if it survives the fight, the pilot should be put down from sickness.

We will see what things look like in the morning.

It’s odd, but apparently the light from my spear either rallied the defenders, or spooked the elephants. Either way the sounds of war have been replaced with the screams of the dying and the call for materials to repair the damage those pigs and elephants did.

I’m disgusted with myself. I left the ramparts a long time ago and I’ve been walking through the city, but in the back of my mind there is this nagging voice telling me to go back, to use the staff more. If I offer prayer to the Sky then I will be blessed in battle. I want to leave, to wander away from this city and never return.

Unfortunately, I was found by a runner in all orange armor. The Mayor, a medic, or some kind of leader had requested to speak with me.

I explained the root of my skin condition to the Mayor. He seemed to misunderstand and thought I was in constant pain when I told him about the initial phase of the healing. He even offered me whiskey. If myself from Earth ever saw me turn down whiskey I probably would have committed suicide? Or is it murder? Alternate universes, different planets, chaos gods, and I’m writing about my past self-murdering my future self. Funny.

Anyways, I explained to him what I think the condition is. . . basically the cells are dyed and most of the fungal infection reduces or goes away. I told him about Phil and how he never got infected from being near the two of us. He also offered position training with his army. I politely turned him down, but offered to trade since I already knew where his keep was and after seeing his men there was a lot I was interested in trading.

Im finally back in the land of the living. Or at least Consious again. That fucking sickness that ran through the city got to me after my skirmish and ive been feverish for god knows how many weeks. Ive gotten the nickname 'Hades' now since i apparntly died for a few minutes before i was ressusitated, so im apparntly actually the Lord of the dead now.I'm going to fucking kill Tam for that one. Im finally back on my feet after regaining my strength but im marked just like that asshole outside the gates leading the savages. I guess i cant really call them that anymore, they're far too organized to be savages. Barbarians maybe.

Most of the First and the Sightseers are still alive and im down to about 60 overall combat effective men, but good veteran troops better armored or trained than most here. They've been plugging any breakthroughs in the walls and the Longbows have been nailing riflemen whenever they get close enough, although they usually just drag the rifles away and continue on, but at least it keeps them at a range which wastes more ammo. They're pounding the gate hard and id ont know how long it can last. Im martially the First and Sightseers at it along with some of those Butter-root guys. I gotta say, from what ive heard they've really pulled their weight alot more than i ever thought they could.

Shit, a hinge just cracked. The gate doesn't have much longer now. ALL INFANTRY RALLY TO ME, HOLD THE BREACH WHEN THEY COME. SHOW THEM WHAT SORT OF MEN HADES MAKE!!!
>>
>>28137552
"DON'T LET IT IN THE WALLS!" I was adamantly refusing to let the mech suits return. I saw them hit with the little flasks.

Those damn flasks. Several of the sick from the first round are already dead. Whatever they put inside, it's horribly lethal. The bodies were burned, and the remains sterilized. They keep trying to throw the damn things over the walls, and it has become a priority to shoot them before they get close, right after the pigs.

It took a while, but I managed to rig up a big leather cloth filled with a mixture of strong alcohol and water. We washed them down more than once, had them walk through a fire to get in.

Even so, those suits aren't airtight. They might have been once, but not after who knows how long rotting in an abandoned world.

I'm not sure the pilots will survive. That /b/astard is clever.

There's so much more I could do. We could have made guns from the bitter tree trunks and leather. We would have made mortars. We could have brought more oil.

This last attack won't be down to clever tricks or tactics. It's clear the enemy is getting strained. Even their numbers are starting to fail. We just have to keep starving them, keep hitting them, keep hurting them. Make them bleed for every inch.

I get the feeling that before this is over, we're going to have a very bloody final battle. It's simply going to come down to who breaks first.

The men are prepared. We've suffered a lot of casualties here. Almost 15 dead, of our original 50 soldiers. As many wounded. We're down to less than half what we started with.

We're ready. It's fitting that a bloody stand like this would happen in a place called Cadia. Well, we'll make them bleed. We'll give this place everything we've got. We're ready for the curtain call, even if it ends with all of us dead.
>>
>>28137591
((Phil ate any and every bugs he found that could cause him to trip out, the nurgle cultists used a bug to trip out and heal as well, I just figured he ate a similar one before being sick so I've just written Phil as some super immune system. I have no idea or preference for the purple being contagious, although it would be a lot easier to trade if it wasn't.

I also have no personal experience with fungal diseases so I wouldn't know if it was gone and just dyed skin cells, or still active.))

Day ??188

I've seen him on the walls, shouting orders, he's the one I just know it!

I wasn't sure at first but when I saw him ordering the returning mechs to be stopped and sterilized I knew it had to be him.

I'm going to find that orange bastard and gut him myself.

The last to catapults are gone, destroyed in a morning raid, too late though, the gates have broken and I'm massing my men for an assault, tight ranks with interlocking shields, they sucked when this started but all of them pull the maneuver off naturally now.

The two Aurochs will lead the charge through the gate, I doubt its strong enough to take another charge, and they will be followed by the last of the Hambeasts. Then come the men.

We need this to succeed, if it fails the siege will break. The caravans arent coming through regularly any more and the supplies we have are running out.

Still we can only committ so many to a single assault with out hampering ourselves so I am having S'ndra hold back with the reserves, if we fail she has been given the order to have the Acolytes cut my 'wifes' throat in her bed and for her to take leadership and retreat to the cathedral.

If nothing else /b/ has become firmly nurgle land, this battle either way will not change that.

Had this been at the beginning I would of pulled back with her myself, lived with the spoils of my conquest but im to deep in this now, Im invested in this siege more than anything I have ever done in my life and if it fails I cant see myself holding the lands after.

So instead I am marching with the men, I will be fully armoured and going into battle with the Death Knights.

If nothing else I plan to seek out the one in Orange and see that this ends here.

Pappa Nurgle bless us for we are the harbingers of his will and the bearers of his plague.

For Chaos!

(Meh in that case it's gone from fungal to viral and integrated into the cells. No remains of a skin, hair, or nail fungus can be found but even new cells are dyed purple.

Eating induces a nearly 2 month state where the fungus spreads and eats into the cells before rewriting the cells with a specific color. Some of the native wildlife consume this plant during mating season to increase coloration of their plumage. They don't experience the physcodelic, pain, or gradual progress of the transition. They also can adapt to the virus and purge it from their system within one rain season.

I shall name the mushroom.... Psilocybe Lycanthus Indigo))

We were on the walls when the gate was breached. The men of Hades were screaming, and shouting defiance. They would make the enemy bleed for trying to enter.

I was on the walls, with the others. They came at us, wave after wave. First we spent what we had left of the bullets. Then we spent what we had of the oil, and the sling stones. Then we grabbed spear and shield and stabbed and fought with everything we had. One of their elephant-monsters was on fire, rampaging through their ranks.

I ran back and forth, directing our men, strengthening their resolve. The paladins screamed battle hymns in the hellish light of the burning pig-beasts. I saw one cut down, still shrieking.

Jason and I fought back to back. He did almost all the killing. I am not very good at hand to hand. I shot well in the early stages, though.

One of them came at me. The size of a giant, and bashed me with his shield. As I fell from the wall, Jason cut him down, screaming and rallying the men.

My head hit the ground, and everything fell into darkness. I am not very good at hand to hand.
>>
"BRING IT DOWN, BRING IT DOWN, BRING IT DOWN!!!!! BOWS FOCUS ON THE BEHEMOTH!

SPEARS FORWARD, PUSH THEM BACK THROUGH THE GATES"

I think ive lost half my men, its hard to tell anymore from the smoke and chaos of the breach. I see 2 dozen of my hoplites around me with dozens of others, Cadians, Kogusans, Butterrooters. The enemy charge in faltering, they're being pushed back through the gates now. The men behind me scream in excitement and bloodlust, the men infront whine and scream as my blade opens them.

Dammit, they've brought in those plate bound assholes. Wait...is that the marked one? Its the marked one...

I dont need my helmet anymore, seeing my marks should draw him into me. Hubris is like that. I make a dash for the marked one, some of his men actually shift aside when they see my marks.

"PUSH HARD, FIGHT FOR HADES. HADES! HADES! HADES! HADES! HONOR THE DEAD AND BRING THEM MORE IN HADES!!"

I hate what I am doing. The voice in the back of my head is getting louder as the cultists pour through the gates. I’ve yet to activate the spear on the cultists but it wants to be turned on. It NEEDS to be turned on.

One of the elephants has caught fire. At least the Mayor knew what to do to spook those massive beasts and ended up setting it back on the cultists in a rampage.

I’ve ended up fighting my way towards the gate walls. I plan to take the last elephant out and then retire from this battlefield. As I made it in sight of the final elephant I watched the orange armor of the Mayor fall off the wall. I was able to look up quick enough to catch another orange armored man cut down a massive beast of a man that most likely had just knocked the Mayor off the walls.

Fuck the elephant, that was a trading partner that just went skydiving!

Fuck the voice, that was a human I had met and talked with! There is no way I’m letting him get carried off by a cultist.

Without a further care for my own safety I ran to protect the Mayor, or at least to protect his remains.

On the field

These assholes dont crack easy

The Aurochs breached the gates but were halted almost instantly by a fucking Phalanx.

I am not kidding these fuckers were in full formation when our units charge and locked pikes with them, our swordsmen whirling with their long blades, snapping hafts and limbs.

One of the Aurochs just went down after a gunshot took it in the head and another was on fire, rampaging over us and them a like until the enemey archers finally felled that one as well.

Some of my men were already up on the wall, figthing for position but being beaten back, it was cramped and the fighting was fierce.

I would of joined them, I knew the orange one was there, he was the one I wanted but I couldnt, the Phalanx in front fo us was not breaking and I could see their leader, in full armor and with a fucking plume in his hat.

I looked over my men and grimaced back.
They were fighting madly, cutting down men left and right but even now I could tellthe battle was lost, we were killing them but never gaining ground and they were killing us just as badly if not worse.

I turned back on that leader with the plume on his head, his eyes were like mine, black and marked. I had to smile at that, he wasnt the oragne one, but at least this would be between those marked like equals.

With a roar the Death Knigths surged forward with me. Our blades held high and shields raised in front.

This was going to end like it began, a fight between the champion of chaos and an inglorius upstart.

I just wish I didn't already know the fucking ending.

Lieutenant Jason:

The Mayor was dead. Or down. We couldn't go find him to find out. We were too busy trying to survive. I cut that fucker down that knocked him off the wall though. The mayor is just a little guy. Someone that big hits someone his size, he goes flying.

I saw him down there, fighting with those Hades men. Their leader. The one the mayor had been obsessing over, hating for so long it felt like forever now.

I ripped through every last damn one of the fuckers in my way. Threw them off the walls, stabbed 'em in the face, kicked 'em in the balls and ripped out one's throat with my teeth.

I was fucking furious. Every last man from the keep was just as angry.

He was ready to duel the leader of the men of Hades. One of them had snuck up behind. A cultist in the ranks, ready to stab him, break the line.

I grabbed my spear and jumped for him. Every last one of them would die this day.

"WAAAAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Hmm. I'm not sure whether to kill the mayor off or not. It'd be fitting, and I feel it'd be a good story, but I still have a lot of ideas I'd need him to carry out.

Still, you ran a damn good show, my man. I'll have to run a bad guy sometime myself.
>>
>>28137872

He's not as good as he wants to be.

His shield parrys my blows as much as his armor does and i find myself trying to defend against these other plate bound assholes on my sides.

"SHIELD WALL FORWARD"

He's weakening, i can see it in his eyes. Those bold eyes looking at the town. So certain of victory. They now look back at me with uncertainy.

"SIGHTSEERS VOLLEY FIRE"

His movements are slower, his pace more sluggish but i still cant break the defense. Am i slowing as well? I can feel im in pain, somewhere, but its not important right now.

"KOGUASANS HOLD"

We're outside the gates now, we're pushing them back through sheer weight of numbers. Wait, the numbers are on our side now? Yes...i can see them running. Only most of the armor clad assholes remain with some of the other light.

"FIRST OF HADESOPOLIS, CHARGE. GIVE THEM THE STEEL!"

One swing, then another. Each one blocked just intime. YES! My sabre found his face, renting it down his forehead and cheek. His eyes are covered with blood now, he's finding it hard to see.

I begin to slow more, and i realize finally the arrow in my shoulder. How hadn't i noticed it before...

He jumps at me, taking me to the ground. We roll for dominace, feet stamping around us, bodies crushed, blood flowing like a river. Yes, i am the Lord of Hades now. I own death.

I pull out my belt knife, and drive it into his already rented eye. He convulusives abit, and i fear he cant die. But that cant be right, Im the lord of death. Im the lord of death...

I feel arms around me, the gates coming over my head once more. Im being dragged back into the town. I can hear something, something loud. Something that shakes my very being.

The voices of 1000s screaming at once "VICTORY, VICTORY, VICTORY"

The new wavers have made their own. I was sad to say once more I was taken out of the fight relatively early. Goddamned snipers. This said, I've had a false wall put into the tunnel system. We know where the Bastion is, we know what to do. My karskin now move all seventy of them, laden down with the sick salt, landmines and the last of our 'grenades'. From within their halls they will sever the second head of the hydra if possible. If not, they shall at least drive them from the Bastion. We cannot afford them to hold it. Let them have all the north, the wailing pass is OURS.

For Cadia and for the south.

I made it to the Mayor in time to run my spear through a cultist that was trying to drag him off. The mob of Nurglings swarmed as what I can only expect to be their leader engaged a phalanx of hoplites.

The additional cultists kept me from checking on the Mayors health, but there was no way I would budge from this spot. This was the man who had lead the assault on the horde, he had impressed me day after day with the tactical attacks he was able to pull on a much larger force.

I decided I would hold this line against a much larger force, at least until reinforcements arrived.

The phalanx pushed out of the gates and shortly afterwards the cry of victory was rolling over the defenders. A soldier in orange ran up to check on the mayor and I stepped out of the way.

Ughhh...ive never felt worse in my life. I woke up this morning to find myself in the Castellan's keep with a few of the wounded officers from his ranks, saw the butterroot mayor another bed off as well still asleep. I got worried for a split second thinking we'd been pushed back, but it all came back to me. Christ, i was like an animal. How many did i kill...how many did i ENJOY sinking my blade into...

I tried to push the thoughts away from the surface and stand, it was hard. I had to grab my spear to use it for support. I found the First of Hadesopolis, who've now renamed themselves 'the First of Hades', mulling around in the courtyard. Only about 40 men are left from the 80 i led to Cadia, but we certainly put those lives to good use. Jesus, am i really starting to see people as tools now?

I told Tam i need to organize a meeting with the rest of the Leaders here at Cadia. Its clear whoever was attacking put all they could spare into this, but this doesn't mean they wont regrope and recover at some point. Even Tam has started calling me Hades now. I think its the eyes...i look almost exactly like that...that monster i killed. I wont become like him though. The lands we hailed from must be strong, and we must be friends.

(So, anybody want to get on some sort of chat so we can properly and efficently have a group meeting?)
