“Well where are we needed most, General? That's where we'd like to go.”

Deep in the bowels of a classified hardened bunker somewhere underneath Aberdeen Proving grounds, you stand surrounded by maps of the warzones all over the world. A full global map shows Germany, the Middle East, Norway, and Japan all with huge red arrows thrust into thin blue lines. The push into Alaska now a tiny pocket of red within a field of blue, along with massive buildups of both colors all over the planet's waterways.

The two most interesting areas, however, are east off the coast of Japan, and just north of Saudi Arabia. In the pacific, most of the fleet of the USN in positioned just off the coast, mixed in with a sizable IJN task force. A series of question marks in a grey field covers the outline of China, although Manchuria is a deep red.

In the desert, a series of blue pushes into red field change the pace of the whole map. A flash of emotion surges through you when you notice that a small note – that of new soviet armor – has been made on the map next to the country.

“Everywhere, son. 1 ARSOF made a name for itself in the community, and now everybody wants to see some action out of you. The suggestion’s been made to break your company down even further, to a 'troubleshooter' type unit. Half an ODA in a Myrmidon, an Achilles, and a striker witch or two, all prepackaged, standing by, and ready to deploy anywhere in the world in twenty four hours. I told them no, not until you're more comfortable in your new wheels, but I'm not sure how long I can hold them off.

General Lindsay stands, coffee mug reading “COFFEE, WITH SWEETENER, 1 EA. UNIVERSAL DROWSINESS SOLVER” firmly gripped in hand. Command staff buzz around the room, answering phones or delivering papers to one general or another.

“So, really, it's up to you. I can get papers in for a billet anywhere. Maybe except for back in the middle east, since you'd be jumping straight into a fight there, but Germany has settled down somewhat into a slugfest, and Japan would be another training op. Unless the Reds try to do something in the pacific, but with all that naval power built up there, I doubt they'd be that stupid.” He makes a gesture to the Pacific.”

You look up, having set your styrofoam cup down on the table-sized map. Only generals get mugs.

“Which would you take, sir?” You ask, locking eyes with the man.

He exhales deeply, considering the options.

“If it were me, I'd say Germany. Maybe Japan, if things look like they're gonna get really heated here in a week or so. It's a tough choice, Captain, and I don't envy you for having to make it at all. Talk it over with your company, get back to me at the end of the day, and I'll start pulling strings for you.”

You nod, silently thanking the General. Picking up your coffee, you stride out into the hallway, noting the Air Force security forces airmen in full battle rattle moving to the position of attention as you exit the door. After an ear-popping elevator ride up, you find yourself in a secure hangar just off the flight line of Dover AFB. Inside, Lieutenant Anderson waits sitting on a crate, boots propped up and beret settled over his face. Hearing the elevator door close, he pulls the headgear from his face and sits up, taking note that his CO was back. Anderson falls into step next to you, and just outside you both put your berets on properly.

I doubt it's as many as the EU threater as that's where the bulk of the action is, the middle east is basically a pissing contest.

As far as the witch tank? Likely a safe testing ground (they weren't expecting Jake and Co.), though they might have drawn a good result from it as 2 witches got maimed, 2-3 tanks got taken out.

Walking towards your humvee, you mull a few things over in your head. The middle east needed your help. Securing the oil pipeline would go farther in this war than just killing reds, but then, the reds are the ones that started this war, and cost you about half of your company. So fuck them.

“We're going to Germany.” You say, eyes locked forward.

“Oh boy. Right back onto the line, eh sir?” Anderson replies.

You grunt. That's where you were needed most. You'd plug holes and give some line units a break from the unrelenting waves of commie attacker, not counting whatever special taskings you'd get from...whoever you'd fall in under.

“Yeah. They need us there most. The sandbox needs it too, but if Germany goes down, so does the rest of Europe. Norway can hold the Reds on their own, those mountains will stop up any armored pushes and Russian infantry isn't even remotely comparable to the Vikings in alpine combat. And, if you'd have seen the fleet off the coast of Japan, you'd know that they most definitely don't need our help.”

Anderson nods at your explanation, settling into the hummer before turning the engine over. He chuckles to himself, shaking his head.

“Y'know sir, I wouldn't have minded meeting a few Swedish ladies. Norway might have been fun. You could've reconnected with your inner berserker.”

You cock an eyebrow. “Sounds to me like you're pulling for a different theater, LT.”

“Nah, nothing like that. Andersons are fighters, through and through. We don't really care where or when it is, but if there's a scrap to be had, we want in. It just would've been cool to sink an axe into a slav's brainpan.”

“Jesus. I think that's the most sociopathic thing I've heard all week.” You reply, only slightly concerned.

He shrugs, pulling out of the fenced in perimeter. “You know if I did it, nobody would ever question ARSOF ever again, right?”

“Seek help.”

He chuckles again.

Most of the day from here is yours to do what you will, as long as you have your movement decision to General Lindsay at the end of the day. The base PX isn't bad for things you may think you need, and it's also visiting hours at WRGH. “Y'know,” you start “I haven't really talked to Rosalez too much. I think I need to change that.”

Anderson nods. “Agreed.”

It's a short ride to the hotel, as Anderson had flicked on the hazard lights and floored the accelerator. During this time of war, most people know to get the hell out of the way of a barreling humvee with it's lights on. You can't help but think that if he could, he'd be blasting some form of metal, but not only is there no radio, there's also no metal to be found. You think. Nonetheless, he still hums a mean rendition of Metallica's 'Battery'.

Slowing down in the town proper and finally pulling to a stop, you're met by a rather disgruntled looking MP in the lobby. You trade looks with Anderson, who shrugs before pulling his green beret off as he steps in. You mirror his move, glancing around. The lobby, outside of the three of you and the worker at the desk, is empty. Kind of odd, around this time there'd be people in the dining room having lunch.

“There a problem here, Corporal Ramirez?” You ask, reading his rank and name tape.

He shakes his head, stiffening to the position of attention. “No sir! Just here to make sure that US Army resources are being used as regulated!”

You exchange another set of looks with your XO, who asks, “Corporal, what the hell are you talking about?”

“He's talking about the six humvees and two deuce and a halfs that are out in the parking lot, Lieutenant. There are reports in the cities of Baltimore, Philidelphia, and our nation's capitol of people in unmarked military vehicles causing all sorts of trouble out of uniform. And, in the future, you will speak to my subordinates with respect.” A fourth voice chimes.

>>28294411

A second MP steps out from a restroom, wearing a set of captains bars and all his patrol gear. He's taller than you by a foot, but where his muscle is long and stringy, both yours and Anderson's are packed onto your smaller frames. The man appears to be inside of every personal grooming regulation without even a speck of unshaven hair on his face or the sides of his head.

(sorry for the delay, got caught up watching foobawl)

You step between your XO and the newcomer, just in time it would seem.

“And you'll speak to mine the same way, Captain Morgan. Now, what can we help you with?”

He meets your glare with one of his own, one showing that he was going to do his job no matter the cost.

“You can get me one private first class Nicholas Soloto and one staff sergeant Beau Meany. They're both wanted for questioning in regards to a bar fight that took place in Baltimore two nights ago.”

While that isn't something you'd be willing to put past either Nicky or Meany, it's also not in your nature to just let some blue falcon take your gunner or one of your dismounts away from you for little to no reason. Chances are that if they're suspected, that they did it, but you're not gonna let this guy know that.

“Uh-huh. As their CO I'm going to go ahead and tell you that that's not going to be happening. I'm not going to deploy without my gunner or a highly capable infantryman. Now, if you can get me an order to release them to you on grounds that we'd have them back in time for movement, than it's a possibility. Otherwise, I'm afraid I'm not able to oblige your request.”

A fire flashes in Captain Morgan's eyes. “Sounds an awful lot to me like you're obstructing, Captain Bishop.”

“And it sounds like you're acting on hearsay, Captain Morgan.” You casually reply. You can feel Anderson tense behind you.

Morgan grumbles something under his breath about scumbag tankers before bursting out of the lobby doors. Ramirez scrambles out behind him. “I'll be back for those two, Bishop. And I'll remember this.”

You casually lift your arms to either side of your chest and take a few taunting steps towards him. “I'm right here, Captain.”
