Your entire life, you've glorified the military. Your books, the radio plays you listened to, the plays you attended, they were about military heroes. Geierritter fighting monsters alongside their Griffon mounts, Red Sash Dragoons stopping plots and fighting bandits, Sturmritter breaking up conspiracies and saving nobles in distress from certain doom.

And today? You're joining them. You signed up a few weeks ago, did the Vocational Exam Battery, and got the letter back this morning.

You aced it. Accepted into damn-near everything. The entire Ersteland Army, and you get to choose your place in it.

Well, you get to choose where you're a grunt in it anyways. Can't have peasants entering as officers, after all.

>[ ] Join the Biplane Force! They're brand new, and it's amazing that you even scored well enough to apply to them. You can forge stories no-one's ever seen before!

Unrelated to this thread, but when do quests and RPs generally pop up on the board more than usual, weekends? Summer? Blood moon?
>>
>>28316043
Weeknights. QMs are getting savvy to the fact that all you assholes have groups of neckbeards to be forever alone together with from friday night through to sunday, so lots more quests on weeknights.

If you want to know more get on quest IRC and ask, it's #ques/tg/enerals on Rizon.

You hesitate for a moment, but tales of Lady Bismark flood our memory. Her skill with lance and sword and pistol, the foes she felled, nobles she dueled, plots she foiled, and the incredible variety of men and women she rescued from certain death and/or wooed all barrage you with reckless abandon.

You decide to join the Aerial Cavalry, fill out the requisite paperwork, and leave for the recruiting office.

Don't worry, OP, the first one mentioned Germany's nickname as the Land of Poet and Thinker because he was jerking off into a copy of Nietzsche when he suggested the character name and the second one gave us the old saying the germans use to justify getting their shit handed to them by Louis XIV, Napoleon, and the British Empire while ostensibly being smarter and having greater academic and cultural prestige: In the beginning, the good God gave to the French the dominion of the land, to the English the dominion of the seas, and to the Germans the dominion of the clouds.

It's just funny because we're a german pilot and /tg/ stands for Tactical Genius so we're gonna get us some air superiority.

You saunter into the recruiting office. One of the clerks, Abelard, if you remember correctly, gives you a slight smile and a wave in greeting. You return a mocking salute with your free hand, slide up to a clerk you don't recognize, and slide the papers over.

It's easier to fuck with them if they don't know you, after all.

"Name and gender?" drones the clerk.

"Male, Frederick Wilhelm," you say. You wait till the /moment/ he's done putting the names in the correct boxes (Which, admittedly, doesn't take him long) before you say, "Rommel."

The Clerk looks at you. "...Pardon?"

"Frederick Wilhelm Rommel," you say, "It's my name?"

The Clerk gives you a /glare/ before scratching out his mistake and re-entering your name. you smile innocently at the man

"Still tormenting the unwary, Fritz?" says someone behind you. You turn like /lightning/ and manage to step sideways, avoiding an enormous hug from the man behind you.

"Ada, you're looking well," you tease. There's another grab attempt, less hug and more headlock, but you dodge pretty well. It's an old game between you and Adam, and while you haven't seen him for a while, you remember how it works.

"And you're as spry as ever," replies Adam, "Finally followed through on all those tall tales you told me? What're you signing up for? Infantry? Velocipedes?"

"Aircav," you say proudly, "They'll be beating the girls off of me in a month. Now, about you..."

>>

>trusting players to do that shit
I think I recall your name from another thread, and between that and your question about roleplay earlier it's plain you're new here. If so, welcome to the board.

Let me explain something: you do NOT trust players with that shit here, not with the trolls we have, because even if quests were hated pretty fiercely for at least a good year and that hadn't just stopped last month (more like this morning, more like it's still happening), the one player who decides to fuck everyone else over isn't sitting across the table from you, you can't punch him in the dick.

That's killed enough quests and games to not make the old hands warm to the idea.
>>
>>28316975
I'll need to know some stuff though:

Are Geierritters stationed in roosteries or some such?

What level of tech do they use? (I'm guessing this steampunk but better safe than sorry)

What is their main role(s)
>>
>>28317009
Dang, fair enough
>>
>>28317033
Instead, we have collective games of different sorts occasionally like evolution or nationbuilder or competitive turn-based ones where simplified rulesets allow one anon to run shit for ten or twelve players

look into that or maybe run one yourself if you want
>>
>>28317065
Cheers, sorry for littering the thread.
>>
>>28317019

OK, figured this shit out.

No, I'm not letting the players make new characters to RP in the Quests Canon. If you really like it, feel free to use it for your own thing, which I will politely ignore, but I don't want players making characters and RPing/Questing in here, and I certainly won't view it as canon for the quest.

Because mecha knight would've been exactly how much different from a normal knight? Being an Aerial Dragoon sounds baller as fuck. Can you imagine riding a fucking PEGASUS into enemy lines, upside down, from behind them and then disappearing into a cloud bank? Imagine, swooping through the cover of the fall clouds, smashing into a line regiment, barreling into full grown men and spearing men to death by the scores at speeds you'd think would kill a human being, then disappearing before they can even return a volley. You sir, are a coward and an oaf, if you do not find that the absolute pinnacle of glory and honour on the battlefield.

"What in the Pyre's great arsehole have you been up to! Two years, not a peep, and suddenly your noble rear is back in Near-Arys? There's a story here, and I expect to hear it."

"I'm afraid there's not much to say, Fritz," says Adam, "It was just noble-"

You interrupt him, darting over to him, putting a finger to his lips, and shooshing him insistently. "Ada, Ada, I want you to listen very closely. Do you hear the sound? Do you hear it Ada?" you say. You don't bother waiting for his reply before you continue, "That is the sound of me not buying your bullshit, Ada."

"Sounds like giggling clerks," quips Adam once you've moved your finger.

"Exactly Ada," you say, "Now, storytime."

Adam sighs, a deep, sad thing that works /wonders/ on a certain type of romantic lady. "Fine Fritz," he says, "Dad decided to climb the courts again. Said it was 'high time our noble house rose again'. He moved us to court and sent us off to improve the families standing. Spent two years translating messages in Rajistan-you probably haven't heard of it. Couldn't really send letters." He's right on that one, but you don't show it. "Then he started marrying us off for trade deals. Otto got married last month, so I figured my choices were getting stuck doing nothing important for the rest of my life to help my dad, or give the old Bismark Family Legacy an airing out."

"Waaaait," you say, "Little Ada's joining the Geierritter?" He gives a chokehold another go, you dodge the first, and the second, but you've backed yourself into a corner and the third gets you. Fortunately for you it's more playful than angry at that point.

"Yeah," he says, pinning you down, "I'll be an officer with the next Geierritter company mustered in the city."

There's a pause as you both realize the implications. Adam smiles a nasty, horrible smile, something that belongs on wyverns and monsters and the vile undead, not kind-hearted noblemen.

You resign yourself to your pushup-filled fate and leave as Adam approaches a clerk. It's a bit of a walk home, so you read over the billet information on the way. Mostly to have something else to think about.

You'll be assigned to the airship Von Richthofen's Eyrie after training. Which Flight you'll be part of isn't noted. You leave for training in three days. Less time than you planned on, but you've already packed, so you should be able to do everything you need, which includes...
