Previously on Gundam X Quest:
>David and Ennil explore the old UNE base used to launch Tiffa into outer space and discover an old, pre-7th Space War spaceship.
>A week passes, and in that time, Kauto arrives with David's ship, the Sandshark, and the Freeden is once again capable of movement.
>David's first day as Captain of his ship has been less than stellar, and dreads the coming days aboard his own ship...

It has been five days since your harrowing first day as Captain. Fortunately, after a second run-in with the ship's doctor, any untoward actions were prevented with the timely intervention of your second in command. After a rather... intense discussion, Ophelia Widow is acting, well... like a doctor should.

Now that the Sandshark and Freeden have arrived at the base where the remaining colony refugees are located, it's time to take action...
>>
You sigh as you wander the immediate area surrounding the warehouse, idly waiting as negotiations with the refugees begins, thankful for a chance to be out of your own ship. Despite things being far more professional with the ship's doctor, you can't help but hold your breath whenever she wanders past you in the halls of the Sandshark.

Part of you wonders if you should see if you can't convince them to allow you to go with them, while another wonders if you should stay behind on Earth, and "hold down the fort", as it were.

>Join the negotiations, see if you can't convince them to let you go with Garrod.

You decide to join Jamil for the negotiations, intent on accompanying your apprentice into outer space. The refugees had learned of the ESTO, and though they were allied with the SRA, the idea of a stable, Earth Sphere-spanning economy certainly intrigued them, as prices for imported goods between colonies were simply outrageous. With the ESTO acting as a middleman, or like the stock markets of old, prices would be regulated to a degree, and hopefully the quality of life would improve, both on Earth and in the colonies.

The possibility of learning how much the UNE's technological prowess had improved via the Double X, as well as the level of technology the ESTO also appealed to them as well, the more ambitious of the refugees wanting to bring something back to Cloud Nine for the SRA's engineers to study, not that you or Garrod would actually let them.

---

With the negotiations concluded, preparations to load both the Full Armor Hyper-Spec and the Double X aboard their commandeered spaceship had begun in short order.

However, your head pounded feverishly, as though someone were beating it like a drum. Looking around for the source of this sensation, your questions were soon answered when a large explosion rocked the ground beneath your feet.

Rushing outside, you could see the cause of the explosions and tremors from mere seconds earlier.

From the southwest, the New UNE forces were advancing.

This was not good; the preparations were only half done, and both yours and Garrod's Gundams were already on board the refugees' ship.

Nonetheless, both the Sandshark and the Freeden, as near-death as the latter was, rode out to meet them, with Kai in the Belphegor, Shagia and Olba in the Virsago and Ashtaron, respectively, Jamil in the Divider Gundam, Witz in the Airmaster Burst, Roybea in the Leopard Destroy, Ennil in her new Gundam-esque Esperansa II, and the Black Gale Team in their custom Septems.

(Cont'd.)
>>
As much as both you and Garrod wanted to join them, they assured you that everything would be fine. So, you and Garrod went aboard the refugee's ship, the sounds of the battle raging outside filling you with dread.

Just as the ship launches, the warehouse is engulfed in a fiery explosion. Time seems to slow down as you and Garrod watch the battle from a window; a massive land battleship, if it could even be called that... it was like a moving fortress, almost... had some sort of powerful beam weapon. Or it did, as the battered and bruised Freeden made one last run exploding spectacularly as it rammed the fortress, wrecking the weapon, and causing a chain of explosions until both ships were engulfed in a massive fireball. You feared the worst, but to your surprise and relief, you could still feel the presence of the Freeden's crew. Though their ship had been destroyed, they had not been destroyed with it. With their fortress destroyed and half of their forces shot down, the New UNE had no choice but to retreat.

You exhale, looking to Garrod, who shares your relief. With their forces beaten back, your path into space was secure.

According to the captain of this vessel, the ETA to reach Cloud Nine was approximately two weeks, which, to you and Garrod, could not pass fast enough.

In the two weeks you and Garrod have been aboard the ship, the both of you have familiarized yourselves with the ship's layout, and learned as much about it as the both of you could.

On the final day of the two weeks you've been aboard the ship, you're called to the bridge, Garrod following close behind. When a pair of armed soldiers attempt to stop Garrod, you assert that wherever you go, Garrod follows, and that you would not accept any sort of compromise. Suitably cowed by your words, they reluctantly allow garrod to accompany you.

On a large screen set up at the front of the bridge, you can see the slightly blurred visage of an elderly man in an elaborately decorated military uniform.

>"You must be this 'David West' I've been told about, correct?"

"I am." you reply, nodding. "May I ask the identity of the man that I am speaking to?"

"I am Seidel Rasso, leader of the SRA, and its allied colonies. My men tell me that not only have they captured several new model Mobile Suits made by our old enemy, the UNE, but also that there is a Gundam made by them aboard the ship as well."

"There is, and its pilot is standing right beside me." you say, gesturing to Garrod, who has on the best damn pokerface you've ever seen him make.

"I see..." says Seidel Rasso, steepling his fingers together. "I am also told that you are representatives of a emerging force that opposes this New UNE... the Earth Sphere Trade Organization, if I recall... and that a second Gundam aboard this ship has been modified with technology that this organization of yours has at its disposal..."

"That's correct." you say. "Though we boast technology that rivals the New UNE, our goal differs in that we wish to promote a state of peace between the individual governments of Earth, rather than unite them under a single banner by force."

Seidel says nothing, though you can barely make out him leaning forward, if only just a little. Good; you have his attention.

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Ultimately, we seek to form a Confederacy that hopes to span the Earth sphere, allowing for individual countries and colonies to govern themselves while promising fair prices for imported goods and services."

>"And what if a country deems those prices unfair?" asks Seidel Rasso, raising an eyebrow.

"If that happens, then we will do our utmost to reach an agreement without resorting to violence." you reply.

Before Seidel can speak once more, you continue.

"-However-, if the worst case scenario occurs and conflict is unavoidable, we will not hesitate to combat any sort of opposition that threatens to destabilize the economy, and put innocent lives at risk."

Seidel falls silent, eyeing you critically as you look at him, your eyes sharp and focused.

>"How am I to believe your claims, and not just assume that you and your associate are not just simply Spies for the New UNE?" he says, frowning.

"What are you--"

>"ENOUGH." barks Seidel Rasso. "Captain, your orders have changed. Dock the ship at the 7th Military Research Colony."

"Yes sir!"

And just like that, the screen switches off, and you can feel the ship changing course.

Oh HELL no. You and Garrod were not going to take this just standing around.

The both of you leave the bridge, and return to your temporary quarters, wondering what your next course of action is going to be...

>Go along with this for now; neither of you are UNE spies, and you aim to prove that.
>Fuck it; when they dock at the colony, jump ship and take the Gundams with you.

You sigh. You couldn't very well get to Cloud Nine with the way things were going, but you won't just sit by and let things play out according to whatever plans the SRA has for you and Garrod, as well as your Gundams.

The main question, though, was how to approach this situation. The people aboard this ship seemed sensible enough, and though they followed Seidel Rasso's order without question, you could tell he didn't entirely believe that you and Garrod could be spies. You could convince them to let you go with little to no trouble, and allow them to make up some kind of excuse as to why you and Garrod escaped their custody, or you use force to escape your current predicament.

You decide to approach things peacefully, but if you end up with the worst case scenario, and they won't listen, you'll have Garrod ready to go buckwild on the lot of them and MAKE them let you go.

You and Garrod make your way to the bridge, where you can see the ship slowing down as it is docking inside of the colony.

"Captain, a moment of your time?" you ask, looking to the mustachioed fellow sitting in the captain's chair of the stolen NUNE vessel.

"Yes? What is it?" he replies, looking at you.

"Do you really believe that we're spies?" you say, crossing your arms.

"To be perfectly honest... No. None of us do." he replies, followed by a chorus of agreement from the rest of the bridge crew.

"Then why are you going through with this?" you ask.

"It's an order from the top. We can't question it." he replies, sighing.

You look to Garrod, who waits for some sort of signal from you. You decide to see if the captain has anything else to say.

"So there's nothing you can do?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.

"Not exactly, no." he replies. But then you see him smiling. "But then again, there's not much we can do if our captive spies take the bridge hostage, forces us to give them the map data for Cloud Nine, and escapes our custody, is there?"

You smirk. This cheeky bastard...

"Sounds risky." says Garrod.

"Of course. The colony's MS forces will be on within seconds, so you're on your own. This is all we can do without looking suspicious."

"Thanks, Captain." you say, smiling.

You and Garrod are both given the data that will lead you to Cloud Nine, while the captain and the rest of the crew begin their act...

Both you and Garrod are immediately met with opposition as you "force" your way out of the ship, and out into deep space. It takes both of you some work, but soon enough, you're flying through space with little difficulty.

You curse. Going after someone who is clearly the commander of these forces was a mistake. Just because you were getting a grasp of how to fly in outer space didn't mean you knew how to FIGHT in outer space. Not only that, but you remember that the Full Armor attachments for the GX Hyper-Spec limited your arsenal to just your beam sabers, beam rifle, and Hyper Satellite Cannon, provided the Moon was in visual range. Which it wasn't, so that just made things worse for you.

You couldn't do a thing against this pilot; whoever he was, he had far more experience than you, and managed to completely obliterate your Full Armor attachments. purging the leftover scrap from the Hyper-Spec's battered frame, you attempt to disengage the enemy commander to help Garrod, who is unfortunately able to just defend against the enemy attacks as best he can.

You curse as you see an explosion rocket the DX backward,m and your first instinct is to rush to Garrod's side. Unfortunately, the pilot you'd been facing wouldn't have any of that, and forced you to fight a losing battle at melee range.

>"I have no idea who you are, but you're far too inexperienced to be able to stand a chance against me!"

You attempt to bring your shield up to defend, but a malfunction has it hang limply at your side, the Holster Shield still in its clutches. You prepare for a grisly end, but to your surprise and relief, salvation comes in the form of a G-Falcon, a support craft for, and considered to be even rarer than a Gundam. You blink as you hear a clearly feminine voice blaring on the communication line.

>"Out of my way, small fry!"

You watch as the G-Falcon scatters the Octapes that had surrounded the limp Double X, and grasp it with some kind of grasping arm. As it approaches you, you hear the pilot's voice over the radio once more.

>"Grab on!"

>"Hey, you two, are you okay?"

>"Oi... don't tell me you guys are already dead... How am I gonna explain that to the commander? Jeez..."

>Gonna end things here for now. It's well past midnight now, and thread traffic seems to have gotten rather slow. We'll pick things up tomorrow between 4-6 PM, assuming the thread is still here.

While we're in space, we should try and get our hands on some Colonial tech. Their suits have better armor and beam weaponry than most NUNE, not to mention acquiring the schematics for the G-Falcons. Who knows what else we might find up here.

Agreed, we could use another apprentice who knows her way around colonist tech.

It'd be nice if we could get some of that stuff. The SRA and Satellicon have more advanced weapons and suits compared to the New Federation and ESTO, and making a hybrid of theirs and ours stuff would fit with the entire "unite the Earth sphere in collaboration" shtick.
>>
>>28452765
Satellicon doesn't have as advanced suits as the NUNE, as they exclusivly use Jenice's.

>>
>Location: Unknown

You groan, attempting to rub your head in an effort to rid yourself of this headache you had woken up with, only to remember that unlike Garrod, you had played it smart and wore a helmet with your normal suit.

You look around you and realize that you're still in the Hyper-Spec's cockpit, the machine itself still clinging to the G-Falcon that had saved yours and Garrod's lives.

>"Sounds like one of you is awake."

"Whuh... Where the heck are we?" you ask, not bothering to ask the name of your savior. Pleasantries could wait for now.

>"The shoal zone outside of Satelicon's asteroid base. I'm bringing yours and the kid's butts here so you and your Gundams can get patched up."

Your eyes widen when she mentions Garrod, though not by name.

"Is he okay?" you ask. "Is Garrod alright?"

>"That's the thing, I don't know... he's been out for hours, and he's losing a lot of blood."

"Shit, Garrod... don't you die on me..." you say, your hands tightening into fists. "Not after we came all this way..."

Finally, the asteroid base that the G-Falcon's pilot has spoken of came into view. You let go of the G-Falcon, and carefully, you fired the GX's verniers to slow your descent, and land with a dull thud onto the floor of the docking bay. Events afterward are a blur. You remember being examined by the medical staff, making sure you didn't have a concussion, whatever wounds you had were bandaged up, and you remember Garrod being carted off into the ICU on a gurney. You sighed, watching the red neon light as it buzzed idly, still lit, even after an hour.

"So..."

You turn your attention to the G-Falcon pilot, a girl that looked to be about Garrod's age.

"Yeah?" you respond, raising an eyebrow. "What is it?"

"I never got your name. I'm Pala Sys, the G-Falcon's pilot."

"Ah." you say. "I'm David West. Junk Dealer, Pilot of the Gundam X Hyper-Spec, and representative of the Earth Sphere Treaty Organization, or ESTO."

(Cont'd.)
>>
You can tell by Pala's expression that she has no idea what you were talking about.

"Ah, that's right, you probably don't know what's been going on with Earth for the past fifteen years, huh?"

A shake from her head confirms your suspicions and you sigh.

"Of course." you say. "Well, let me start with what the UNE has been up to since the end of the war..."

---

"... And that's why Garrod and I came into outer space." you finish.

Pala, for her part, managed to pay attention throughout the entire explanation, which is more than you could say for Garrod's attention span. Speaking of which, you turn your attention to the ICU's doorway, and find that they're still operating.

"So... you guys're trying to stabilize the entire Earth Sphere's economy, huh?" she says, folding her arms behind her head. "Sounds like you guys have your work cut out for you."

"Yeah... the New UNE's full of stubborn jackasses who want to take over the Earth rather than ask people if they want to help out. So, we're stuck foiling their schemes for world domination, gaining support the world over, and making new Mobile Suits that can hold their own against their new tech." you say.

"Yeah, the SRA's not much better. They're full of warmongering A-holes. For the past fifteen years, they've been rebuilding their military forces while spreading this political movement that puts Newtypes on some kind of pedestal and how they're the next step in human evolution." she says, her face darkening. "They've more or less forced all the colonies to accept Newtypism, or they're declared enemies of the Colonial Forces, like us."

"So, 'believe what we believe or we shoot'?" you say, frowning.

"Pretty much." she replies. "Anyone that doesn't either ends up dead, or lives in the slum colonies. It's all become one big caste system."

"And I imagine Satelicon's fighting to return things to how they were before all the infighting?" you guess, getting a nod of confirmation from Pala.

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Sounds like the ESTO and Satelicon are birds of a feather." you muse.

"Yeah, it does." replies Pala. "You said that you guys dug up a spaceship from before the last war, right? Does it work?"

"It should by now." you say, rubbing your chin. "It's been long enough that it should be spaceworthy. It's a real beaut, too. Too bad I never got to name it when I had the chance."

"I know this is a bit much for me to ask, but... will you and Garrod help us fight? We'll repair your Gundams, and find a way to contact your allies on Earth."

You smile, and give Pala a nod.

"I can't speak for Garrod, but I'm willing to help, since our goals coincide with one another." you say.

"Seriously?! Thanks, Dave!" exclaims Pala, diving at you, wrapping her arms around your bruised midsection.

"GAH...! Watch it there, I'm still tender." you grind out, struggling not to wince from the pain.

Pala chuckles weakly and mutters an apology. Finally, you hear the click of the light above the doorway going out, signalling that Garrod was finally out of danger.

(Cont'd.)
>>
According to the medical staff, although Garrod was out of danger, he was still unconscious, and estimated that it would take about a week for him to wake up. While that bit of information was disheartening, at least he wouldn't be dying. Of course, that wasn't the end of it. Although repairs had begun on both your Gundams, it would take at least a week to fix your Hyper-Spec, and double that for the Double X. So, like it or not, you and Garrod would be stuck here a while.

"So, Pala, mind showing me around the place?" you ask the teenaged G-Falcon pilot. "I want to see what sort of stuff you guys have been fielding other than your G-Falcon."

"No problem." she replies, smiling. "C'mon, let me take you to the hangars."

You follow behind Pala, grasping some sort of handle-thing that drags you along behind her, letting you move with minimal effort on your part.

The two of you reach the hangars, where you can see several engineers busy repairing both the Hyper-Spec and Double X. You can also see large numbers of... nothing but Jenices, while the G-Falcon is sitting in front of both Gundams.

"You guys have seriously been fighting Octapes in Jenices?" you say, looking at Pala, who can only chuckle weakly.

"Yeah... we can barely keep up with these things. The entire organization's been relying on me and my G-Falcon, mostly. It's kinda nerve-wracking sometimes." she says, sighing.

"I've been there myself, believe it or not." you reply, placing a hand on her shoulder. "It just goes to show how much faith they have in your abilities. If they didn't, they probably wouldn't rely on you so much."

"I never thought about it like that." she says, rubbing her chin. "You really think so?"

"Definitely." you say.

This somewhat tender moment was unfortunately interrupted with your stomach's untimely grumblings. Laughing sheepishly, you turn to Pala.

"Care to direct me to the Mess Hall?" you ask, forcing a smile.

---

After getting your fill of predictably bland space food, Pala takes you to Commander Roiza's office. He greets you and Pala with a salute, which the both of you hastily return.

"Commander Roiza, right?" you ask.

"That I am." he responds, nodding.

"My name is David West, representative of the ESTO. I want to talk with you about a possible alliance between our organizations..."

We need to see if we can upgrade their Jenices into something passable, and if possible start Crusader and Peregrine production.

Did we bring the plans for those with us? And does Satelicon even have production facilities?

Either way, we should help them out as much as we can.
Maybe prepare an evacuation plan in case the SRA comes knocking and searching for two Gundams.
>>
>>28459864
We designed helped design the Crusader and I think we came up with the Peregrine design, so probably, though I have no idea if they have production facilities. Either way, we can presumably at least push out a "Jenice High Mobility" design.

Can they at least make some makeshift weapons or minor upgrades? They have to get new stuff somehow, and I'm assuming they salvage stuff, in which case we could help them. And it'd serve as a nice training for piloting in space.

Nothing they do would even dent the Croudas, unless they pull some dirty tricks and tactics.
>>
>>28459942
But if they're relying primarily on salvage how come their forces are so uniform... Oh, right. Lazy animators. Still, if they've been relying on salvage, well, we're pretty good at that.

Oh, just for clarification: A "Jenice High Mobility" is nothing but a Jenice with salvaged thrusters from either a Septem or a Daughtress High Mobility. Its more of a bastardized field expedient than anything else.

With the details hammered out, you and Pala exit Roiza's office. Pala would take you to an old communications satellite near their location, and contact Zonder Epta. In addition, the ESTO would provide Satelicon with new Mobile Suits when they arrive at their base.

So here you were, stuffed into the cockpit of the G-Falcon, which was clearly designed for a single person.

"How much longer before we reach the satellite?" you ask, attempting to shift out of the uncomfortable position you were in, to no avail. You were packed in there -good-.

"We'll be there in a few minutes." replied Pala.

"... All right, then." you say, sighing.

... Great, now you had an itch.

When the both of you finally reach the satellite, you exit the G-Falcon as quickly as you could without stomping all over Pala in the process. By some miracle, the communication's satellite was still in working order. The only thing left to do was to get a message to Earth...

>Let Pala handle it; you've never used this sort of technology before.

You let Pala get you set up, and you make sure to take mental notes on what buttons did what, what each dial did and things like that. When the telltale buzz of an active radio greeted your ears, you leaned down into the microphone, and spoke.

"Testing... testing... This is David West contacting Zonder Epta. I repeat, this is David West contacting Zonder Epta. Please respond."

A couple of minutes pass before a response is heard.

>"This is Zonder Epta. We read you loud and clear, David."

"Great!" you exclaim, grinning. "I'm requesting a report on the progress of the restoration of the spaceship found underground in the west coast base formerly operated by the UNE. What is the status on its condition?"

>Yes sir. The ship, christened the "Silver Horizon" by Lumark Kauto, is fully operational. The ESTO has also been focusing their efforts on the repair of the Mass Driver found at the former UNE base located on the east coast. Repairs should be complete within a few days."

"Excellent." you say. "I want the Silver Horizon in space as soon as you're able. I'll be needing a full MS compliment of spaceworthy Crusaders, Peregrines, and any new model Mobile Suits that have been rolled out. The Silver Horizon will be rendezvousing at the Satelicon asteroid base. You'll be receiving the coordinate data for the base shortly."

>"Roger that, sir. Is that all?"

"That will be all, thank you." you say.

Once the coordinates for the base were sent, you look at Pala, who gives you a thumbs up.

"Awesome!" she says, grinning. "Now we'll actually stand a chance against the SRA! This is great!"

"Yeah." you say. "Now c'mon; let's head back and tell Roiza the good news."

"Roger that!"

You manage to squeeze back into the G-Falcon, and before long, return to Satelicon's asteroid base.

"You're back. How did it go?" he asked, leaning back in his chair.

"No complications whatsoever, Commander." replied Pala.

"A ship with a full compliment of mobile suits should arrive within a week." you say.

"Excellent. We thank you for your willingness to assist in our affairs, David. It's reassuring to know that there are individuals like yourself out there."

Sorting through the scrap takes a while, but the effort is worth the labor. There's enough parts and scrap here to build a good number of Hyper Bazookas. However, you yourself can't build all of them. You can share the schematics with the engineers, allowing for a higher yield, or you can build them yourself.

Eh, I know we're messing with canon, but I think this should be kept. First, we don't know if the G-Falcon could dock with the Hyper Spec properly (despite the fact we can just adapt it or something. Second, Dave is awesome, a man's name and he's a man, ain't need no sidekicks. We may as well get other docking options, like the Frost brothers MS, Getter-style.
>>
>>28467900
The G-Falcon could combine with the Hyper Spec (we really need a name for this thing - the HSX?) after some modifications. Kid was able to work out how to combine it with the Airmaster and the Leopard after a while, it probably wouldn't be a problem to make it work for Dave's suit as well.

If nothing else, we can make a booster pack out of it that can be discarded when needed. We'll need something that'd allow our suits to survive atmospheric re-entry, especially if we're going to mess around with Satelicon.

That'd work - we can base it off that MS hoverboard and the G-Falcon. It'd be perfect if it could allow the suits to both leave and enter the atmosphere at-will, though that's probably out of our resources and tech range.

Maybe we could include it in the eventual upgrade for the Peregrine, allowing our aerial suits to both function in air and in space.

I'd be more infavor of a workhorse ship designed to shuttle parts and suits from earth to Satilicon en mass. And as one anon suggested creating some sort of Salamis Kai type ship for mass production. Anything that stays in frontline service for over 60 years after the commission of its "replacement" has to be quite good.
>>
>>28472403
That's probably the best solution at the moment. It's going to be cheaper and more effective.

Our priority considering Satelicon should be establishing a supply line, some defenses and some manufacturing facilities so we don't have to carry everything from Earth and risk being detected by the SRA and having the place blown to bits.
>>
Side note, we should see if we can work out something that'd allow us to use the integrated weapons in the Hyper Spec even when it's wearing that heavy armor.
>>
Alright folks, I'm back. Sit tight while I write up a post.
>>
You opt to share the schematic of your Hyper Bazooka with the Satelicon engineers. You figure that since they're professionals, and that they would know best how to use what limited resources they have, you figure it would be far more prudent, and far less work for you, to let them build the Hyper Bazookas.

The engineers estimate that they'll only be able to craft a dozen or so bazookas, with ammo out of what materials they have, and that it should take the rest of the day, and part of tomorrow as well.

With that business taken care of, you decide to pay Garrod's room a visit, and see how he's doing. You approach his room, only to find that the door is slightly ajar, and you can hear him muttering in his coma-induced sleep.

You stop in front of the door, peering through the crack into Garrod's room. Inside, you can see Pala changing, or attempting to change Garrod's old bandages, which was made all the more difficult by Garrod's spasming, which you assumed was him having a nightmare. You admired Pala for putting up with Garrod despite the difficulty he was unintentionally giving her.

Or, well, you would if you didn't find Garrod smacking Pala upside the jaw hilarious, causing her to curse a blue streak while simultaneously putting all her restraint into not punching him upside his head, comatose or otherwise.

"Having trouble?" you ask, holding back a bout of laughter as you walk into the room.

"Yeah, this guy just won't stay still. He keeps muttering about some girl named 'Tiffa', and is spasming like a squirrel on crack."

"So I've noticed." you say, looking on the bright red imprint of Garrod's hand on Pala's cheek.

"Yeah... who is this Tiffa girl anyway?" she asks, looking from Garrod to you.

"She's his girlfriend." you say. "Though he'd deny it and say that she's something else that is effectively the same thing. Guy came all the way to outer space just to rescue her, you know."

"Seriously?" says Pala. "What a cheeseball..."

"Yeah, but he's the kind of cheeseball that you can't help but like... when he's not smacking you in the face, anyway." you say, smirking.

You decide to sit down with her, and help her change Garrod's bandages.

And of course, that meant you were actually tasked with keeping Garrod still while Pala finished her work.

"So..." you ask, watching as she replaced the bandages around Garrod's head. "What's your story? What made you join Satelicon?"

"I grew up here." she replied, looking at you for a moment before going back to the task at hand. "I was born on a derelict life boat that had managed to escape one of the colonies before it reached Earth's atmosphere. I was the only survivor aboard other than my mom, according to Commander Roiza, and I probably would have died if a beat up Airmaster hadn't pushed us to Satelicon. I don't really know my mom, since she died shortly after we arrived here."

"Did the pilot survive?" you ask.

"No." she replies, shaking her head. "According to Commander Roiza, the pilot had died shortly after the boat was docked at Satelicon. I don't know his name, but the Commander should still have the pilot's dog tags."

"I see..." you say. "So... why'd you decide to fight?"

"Because I wanna help the people that raised me." she replies, smiling. "They're fighting for a better future for us spacenoids, and I wanted to repay them for the last fifteen years they spent raising me."

The two of you spend the rest of the time in silence as Pala finishes bandaging Garrod. Finally, you speak up, breaking the silence.

"Roiza... he's like a father to you, isn't he?" you say. It's not exactly a question, and more of a statement, but Pala answers anyway.

"Yeah. Yeah he is." she says, smiling. "I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for him."

"I see..." you say.

"Thanks for helping me with Garrod."

That bit about the Airmaster had you curious. You decided to see Roiza while he was (hopefully) still awake, to ask him about the tags. You make your way to his quarters, and press the buzzer next to his door.

Eventually, you hear him stumble out of bed, and answer the door.

"David? What is it?"

"I talked to Pala about how she ended up on Satelicon." you say. "She told me that the pilot of the Airmaster that had saved her died, and you had the dogtags."

"I see..." he says. "I assume that's why you're here? The tags?"

"Yeah, I am." you say. "Can I see them?"

"Alright then." he says, disappearing back into his room only to reemerge a minute or so later, holding something in his hands.

"Here they are." he says, depositing the dog tags into your hand.

The tags themselves are pristine; no signs of rust or damage anywhere. You can clearly make out the name, and you feel your heart drop into your stomach as you read the name stamped into the tags.

"Mackenzie R. West"

You look at the tags in your hand, and then to Roiza, who sighs.

"I had a suspicion that you two might have been related, judging by your surname." he says. "What's your relation to him?"

"He's my dad." you say flatly, swallowing the lump in your throat.

"I see... well, if you want, those tags are yours. They belonged to your father, after all."

"Yeah... thanks." you say, putting the tags into one of your pockets.

It's been five days since you received your late father's dog tags, and the days seemed to drag on, as there was little you could do.

Since then, at least two dozen Hyper Bazookas had been completed, and just as many of Satelicon's Jenices were loaded up with the new weapons.

With Garrod having finally awoken, all that was really left to do was wait for the Silver Horizon to arrive. With Pala and Garrod getting to know one another, and having things explained to him, you're left to your own devices; which with your track record, is a fifty-fifty chance of being a good or bad thing.

You eventually track down Roiza, meaning to ask him a question that had been weighing on your mind since five days ago.

You'd been curious, since if they recovered your father's tags, had they recovered his Airmaster as well? Roiza neglected to actually give you an answer, instead asking that you follow him.

Now, you were aware that there were several hangars located throughout the base, but none of them held much interest for you, since yours and Garrod's Gundams were located in the same one. You were also aware that there were separate areas for parts storage, and eventually, you were led to one of those aforementioned storage areas., where you could clearly see the remains of your dad's Airmaster. The head had been wrecked, the frame of the MS twisted in places, bent in others, one of the legs had been blown off, the nose cone was nonexistent, and both wings were melted into slag.

All in all, there was thing this Gundam was not, and this Gundam was NOT going to be in working condition any time soon, if ever.

You sigh, thanking Roiza for showing you this, and resumed your wait for the Silver Horizon's arrival, which seemed to be in a few minutes, if the announcement over the intercoms were to believed.

Alright folks, I am back. Hold tight while I whip up a post.
>>
You follow Roiza to the docking bay, where you're greeted with a plethora of familiar faces. The entire Freeden crew, plus Shagia, Olba, Kai, and Ennil, and you could also see a few familiar faces from the Sandshark's crew. A few engineers under Kauto's employ, Kauto himself, oddly enough, as well as Sarah, Grady, and Yolande. Your worst fears are confirmed when you see Ophelia conversing with Ennil and Techcs, and you freeze when you see Ennil looking in your general direction. You can't tell what kind of face she's making at this distance, but your overwhelming paranoia and fear for the worst can only make you think of terrible, terrible things.

>No turning back now, go say hi to Ennil.
>Find and drag Pala or Garrod along with you. Ennil's not so heartless as to kill you in front of an impressionable child, is she?

We'll say it's because those two have been wanting to meet the rest of the crew. If needed, use them as human shields.

Maybe we'll get lucky and find them both.

Actually, why are we so terrified? Dave and Ennil aren't dating, as far as we know.
>>
>>28497333
Because Ennil still has a thing for us, she and Miles are no longer a thing, and Ennil went full on Yandere minus the dere once Garrod rejected her in canon.

I'd say Dave has a damn good reason to be scared.

Okay, done with that, now back to writing. Sorry about that, y'all.

You desperately seek out Pala or Garrod, hoping that meeting Pala, or catching up with Garrod would distract her from whatever the heck Ophelia had been talking to her about.

Fortunately, you find her with Garrod, chatting amongst themselves.

You make your way over to the two of them, and clear your throat.

"Yo, Boss. What's up?" Garrod asks.

"Yeah, Boss, what is it?" adds Pala, grinning. You blink, then mentally shrug. Considering how alike the two of them were, it felt... okay for her to call you that, so you didn't bother correcting her.

"Would either of you mind coming with me? My ship's doctor and Ennil have been talking... and I'm afraid of just what the heck they've been talking -about-." you reply. "I'm going to need someone in my corner if things go south."

"So... what, you need us to protect you from your girlfriend and the chick that mol--mmph!"

"SHH! It's not... She's not exactly my girlfriend... I think. Besides that, 'protection' is not the word I'd use... I need you two as... insurance." you whisper, glancing behind you as if Ennil or Ophelia gained the power to teleport.

Pala smirks, pushing your hand away from her mouth.

"Alright, Boss, we get it. We'll run interference if you need to escape." she says, her chest heaving with barely restrained laughter.

"That's not-- Okay, fine... thanks." you say, groaning. At least they'd come with you. That was something. You sigh, and motion for the two of them to follow you.

You approach the two doctors and Ennil, and when Techcs sees you, he gives you some kind of look, and slinks off.

Smart-ass sonnuvagun.

"David, it's good to see you again." Ennil says, smiling... which fades as she gets a good look at you. Although you were in far better condition than Garrod, who was still in bandages, there was still some bruising on your head and arms.

"What happened to you two?" she says, looking from you to Garrod, then back again.

"We got our butts kicked in Zero-G." replies Garrod.

(Cont'd.)
>>
"Yeah. I got off easy in comparison to Garrod, but things probably would have been much worse if Pala here hadn't saved our sorry asses." you say, gesturing to Pala.

"Have you been eating properly, both of you?"

"Pardon?" you blink, looking at Ophelia, who's bending down to eye level with Garrod. You can swear you can hear him mumble about something being "bouncy", but if she had heard it, she didn't seem to notice or care in the least.

"Have the both of you been eating enough, and drinking plenty of fluids?" says Ophelia. "Eating right's a necessary part of the recovery process you know."

"O-Oh yeah, Pala's been taking real good care of us." replies Garrod, as if snapping out of a trance.

"Though frankly, I keep telling her that I can get my own meals, thank you very much." you add, looking at Pala, who just sticks her tongue out at you.

"Your name's Pala?" asks Ennil, looking at her.

"Yeah, Pala Sys, one of Satelicon's top pilots, and pilot of Satelicon's only G-Falcon." she replies, as if she was doing God's work by doing so.

"So," you say, desperate to change the subject. "What were you two talking about earlier?"

"Oh, nothing in particular. Just giving a few... dating tips is all." replies Ophelia.

"Mmhmm. Particularly advice on more... physical couples' activities." adds Ennil.

Okay, God either enjoys seeing you suffer, or he's trying to give you a break from all your shit luck you've been having lately. Whatever the case-- GODDAMN those looks they're giving you. You don't know whether they're dressing you down, or dressing you up for a feast between predators.

You need to change the subject before you embarass yourself.

Talking to Ennil is dangerous. Garrod and Pala might get things worse. Running away would be too suspicious. Time to use good ol' newtype mumbo jumbo and call for the only ones who can help right now: the Frost brothers.
>>
>>28499972
But they can only telepathically communicate with each other, and the only one who is powerful enough to communicate to people other than Newtypes is D.O.M.E.

We can probably get away, provided we give a valid excuse beforehand.

Well, we have to organize the defense of Satelicon, help unload the new suits, probably design a new upgrade for the Janices, get our pilots accustomed to zero-G conditions and so on. We've got our work cut out for us.

If Kai or Jamil are around, we can ask them to train our guys for a bit.

"So, Ennil..." you begin, forcing a smile. "What have you been up to since Garrod and I left for outer space?"

"Nothing too spectacular." she replies. "Just generally being a thorn in the New UNE's side."

You smirk. You wouldn't have expected anything less of Ennil.

"And what about you, Dave? I doubt you've been sitting on your ass during the time you've been here, right?"

"Not at all." you say. "I've helped them with their salvage operations, gave them the schematics for the Hyper Bazooka so their Jenices can have a fighting chance against the SRA's Octapes and those new models."

"But other than that, yeah, he kind of has." pipes in Pala.

"Only because I'm not supposed to overexert myself." you add quickly, clamping a hand over Pala's mouth, shooting her a look that plainly said "Are you TRYING to get me yelled at?"

Pala, for her part was unfazed, and pried your hand off of her mouth.

"Anyway... What the heck is aboard this baby?" you say, gesturing to the Silver Horizon.

"Including the six that belong to the Frost Brothers, Witz and Roybea, Jamil, and Kai, there's twenty-two aboard the ship. We have five Crusaders, five Peregrines, and two of each of the new ESTO-built Gundams." replies Ennil.

You let out a low whistle. You've been eager to see the new model Mobile Suits, and to hear that there are two of them aboard the Silver Horizon is pretty damn tempting...

Thanks for catching that, Anon.

You wanted to see these babies so very, VERY much. But you weren't the only one that -needed- to see the glory that would be these machines. Nay, this sort of thing HAD to be shared. You gathered Pala, Roiza, and a handful of Satelicon's pilots, and brought them into the Mobile Suit Deck of the Silver Horizon. You walked past the Leopard Destroy, the Airmaster Burst, and the Divider Gundam, which earned appreciative "oohs" and aaahs". You walked past two Crusaders, which immediately caught the interest of the pilots. You explained how they worked, the purpose behind their gimmick and emphasized their dependability and firepower. You had to sell these guys on these mobile suits, make them WANT to pilot them, and you were doing a damn good job so far. You moved on to a pair of Peregrines, and talked to them about how the simplified transformation mechanism allowed for better armor and more thrust than a basic Airmaster, and moved on to the mobile suits you REALLY wanted to see. The three ESTO-built Gundams. Fortunately for you and the others, Kauto was there to give the pilots the lowdown on these babies, since you didn't even know their names.

Of course, you learned them quickly enough, thanks to Kauto. These Gundams were called the...

Second Number is for Atlas
Third number is for Enforcer.

Well now. Guess there's no contesting THAT choice.

Alright, looks like we have Avenger for the Wing, Prima for Heavyarms, and Varia for the Strike.

The last two seem kinda feminine, but every pilot refers to their machine as a "she", so it's not so bad, I guess.

Considering it's an hour past midnight on 4chan time, I'm gonna call it a night, since thread traffic's probably at a dead stop anyway. If the thread is still here by tomorrow, I'll see you guys around the same time, and if not, I'll see you guys on Friday.
>>
>>28501457
Yeah it is. I kinda like that the Heavyarms got named after a military vehicle. It's kind of like how the Gundam Ez-8 was named after the Easy Eight. Could've picked a better name than Prima, but I liked the idea behind it nonetheless.
>>
>>28501457
We can say that's because our engineers and designers are spread all over the place, and because ESTO still doesn't have some theme in its naming. Though the Avenger sounds like something Kid thought of, while the Prima and Varia sound like something Kauto came up with.
>>
>>28501517
I'm just glad that Hyperion and Prometheus weren't picked, since those were both names of Gundams in SEED Astray or its sidestories, if I recall.
>>
>>28502729
I honestly didn't pick up on that.

Anyway, it's probably not going to be possible to repair Mackenzie's Airmaster, or use its parts to upgrade Dave's HSX. Maybe it has some maps or other data we can use. There is a lot of stuff floating around we can salvage, and Satelicon desperately needs resources.
>>
If we're going back to Earth eventually (or sending someone down there) we should have them take the schematics for the G-Falcon to be examined and possibly mass produced.

The Avenger, Prima, and Varia Gundams.

Three new model Gundams made by the Earth Sphere Treaty Organization.

The Avenger was a High-Speed Variable-Form Assault Mobile Suit, armed with a variable output Buster Rifle that could rival the Satellite Cannon in terms of firepower, but such high demand in energy for the shot would limit its use to three full power shots before the weapon would need to be recharged. To compensate, it is armed with high caliber armor-piercing machine cannons, mounted on the shoulders.

The Prima was built for overwhelming the opponent with a large payload of missiles, and heavy gatling gun fire. It could wield gatling weaponry that used either solid round magazines or beam cartridges.

The Varia, being built with the same principle as the Crusader in mind, was a multipurpose, high performance MS capable of swapping between mission specific equipment packages, instead of swapping limbs.

It was one thing to see them on paper, but seeing the real deal was flat out amazing. If you weren't so attached to your GX Hyper-Spec, you might consider piloting one of these bad boys yourself. Leaving Satelicon's pilots to Kauto, you wander off from the group, eager to explore the rest of the Silver Horizon.

You leave the hangar, and eventually come to a crossroads. You could either continue ahead and see what's there, go left, or right, and find out what lies down either path.

Which way will you go?

You decide to keep going forward, and eventually come across an elevator.

Elevator 2B, to be specific. You were apparently on the bottom floor of the Hangar and Storage area, and the second floor would lead to the Hangar's upper levels. The third floor would lead to the Gun Deck, where the left Megaparticle Gun was located and maintained. Or, you could take a left, and enter the main area of the ship itself, where the living quarters, among other things were located.

>>28516518
Well, a naval captain is equal in rank to an army colonel, so there's that.

You're right. Dave probably still thinks as a Vulture and considers this nothing more than a call for help from his buddies. Meanwhile, the ESTO guys received an order to send their only working spaceship and their Gundams up there post-haste. Though it might be because they too are worried about the SRA, as they should

You take a left into the main part of the ship, and head down a hallway until you reach a second elevator. You press the button to take you to the bridge, and find several officers in uniform at their stations. it was practically like the bridge of the Sandshark, or Freeden, but much larger. There was also some kind of apparatus that looked like two chairs back to back, suspended behind the Captain's chair.

You stand there, looking rather lost, until you can feel someone tapping you on the shoulder. You turn around to find one of the members of the bridge crew standing behind you, saluting you.

"Commodore, huh?" you say, scratching your chin. It takes a few seconds for what the man had said to actually register.

"Wait, what?!"

"I asked if you required any assistance, Commodore." replies the officer.

"I heard -that-." you say. "I'm just having trouble processing the fact that I apparently have a -military rank-."

"Well, with being one of the driving forces behind the formation of the ESTO, leading a team of some of our best pilots in the ESTO in an effort to capture Zonder Epta, I believe it is a position you've definitely earned, sir."

Are you sucking up to me, soldier, or are you being sincere?" you ask, smirking.

"I'm being as honest as Honest Abe himself, sir."

"At ease, soldier. I believe you."

"Thank you, sir. Can I assume you are not in need of any assistance?"

"You assume correctly." you say. "I'm just familiarizing myself with the ship, that's all."

"That sounds like a good idea, actually." you say. "Please do."

You're led through the ship, accompanied by the officer that had greeted you on the bridge. You're given a tour of your quarters, which is sparsely decorated. Besides the bed built into the wall, the desk on the opposite wall, and some kind of multi-function television/radio/intercom system, there's nothing else making this room particularly stand out. You're led to the mess hall, then to where the engine room is located, though neither of you enter the are. Besides that, you're largely familiar with the room already, having explored it prior to the ship's restoration.

With the tour of the main section of the ship taken care of, and Satelicon's Soldiers having been thoroughly acquainted with the ESTO's Mobile Suits, you're left with little to do.

You decide to look for Ennil; you've been meaning to have a real talk with her, one without Ophelia nearby... or in the same room... or general vicinity.

You eventually find her in the other Hangar, by her mobile suit, the Esperansa II.

"Hey Ennil... Can we talk?" you say, pushing off of the ground, floating up to her. You grasp the ledge, so that you don't overshoot the distance and float past her, coming to about eye level with her.

"Uh, sure." she replies, setting aside her tools.

"I just wanted to thank you. For everything you've done, Ennil." you say. "You've worried over me, taken care of me... I just can't thank you enough."

You smile, grasping both of her hands as you lock your gaze with hers.

You pull her in close to you, still smiling.

"Thank you... and sorry you've had to put up with cleaning my comatose ass for two months."

That elicits a laugh from her, and you look down at Ennil while she's in your arms.

"You're welcome, David... and thank -you- for being so patient..."

Before you can ask her what she meant, you can feel her lips on yours, and her eyes are centimeters from her. You close your eyes, losing yourself in the electric sensation, and all too soon, it's over.

"Wow..." you croak out.

>Gonna end it here for tonight. Considering how close we are to the bump limit, we'll pick things back up on Friday.
