Last Time on Digger Quest!: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/28696636/

Check my twitter for Quest Schedules and Updates: https://twitter.com/Crosswire

Bass Treble Character Sheet and Inventory: http://pastebin.com/s36n0pwd

Rules for Experience and Damage: http://pastebin.com/19xWixbQ

Waking up in your room at the Sleeper Inn you are still surprised you’re not in your bedroom back on Eden Island. Of course you've had so many dreams about becoming a Digger and woken up from all of them that you don’t think you’ll ever expect to be where you are now.

Walking into the bathroom you fill the tub and take a nice warm bath, deciding to wash up before you start your very busy day of Digging. Taking off your gauze you find your torso wounds are mostly healed or at the very least aren’t hurting as much. The damage you got during the torture was minor, if exceedingly painful. You should be able to do some Digging and take punches like you normally would, but if you take any severe injuries they’ll probably take more than a day or two to recover from.

Thankfully you have Ira to help you out if you get injured. Even though she’s not licensed she seems very competent and adamant when it comes to helping people. She doesn't really seem to be combat capable, but considering you’re essentially untrained you’re sure she can learn. Besides you need someone to support you topside and drag you out of the ruin if you get horribly mauled, that’s why Diggers usually work in pairs or groups after all.

You soak and relax for a little bit before drying off and getting dressed. You have all the gear you need save for your Buster Gun and your new vest. You should also considering getting some breakfast and meeting Ira. If you remember correctly she’s been staying at the church here in town.

SO whats the deal with humans in this universe?
are they half robot or something?
>>

More like our DNA is synthetic. We're organic life forms but our building blocks are artificial, so the ancient systems don't view them as "Real" humans.
>>

Kinda like Binary domain?
cool i can deal with that
>>

Kind of?

If you play Zero, near the end of that series they mention that a lot of humans are getting more Reploid-like using technology, and vice-versa.

By ZX, it's actually more or less unimportant whether you're a Reploid or human.

By Legends, humanity, with DNA and all that, has basically been completely supplanted by artificial biological humanoids called 'Carbons', who can be assumed to be the end result of this process.

ALSO!

Since megaman did all the side quests likely, he must have gotten the shining laser original. All thanks to the retarded roll so that she can make a quick buck.

Which means SOMEWHERE, SOMEONE IS USING UNLIMITED FULLY POWER SHINING LASER.

Deciding it wouldn't be right to eat without your partner, you shoulder your pack and head out to meet her. You're still not very familiar with the town, but the map and the large size of the church makes it very hard to get lost on your way there.

Upon arrival you find that the "Rudabaga Church" is a very large, but very old building. Made up of stone and wood you tell it's one of the older, if not the oldest building in all of Schlaf from how worn and beaten the outside of it looks. It almost looks as old as some ruins are supposed to be.

Despite being very large, it's anything but decadent. It lacks any kind of stain glass windows, symbols, or elaborate stone work that you've heard churches are supposed to have. Still, despite it's age and plainness it seems like a very peaceful, welcoming buildings.

Entering the church you walk down the tattered red carpet past rows of benches to the alter, where a gaunt old man is sweeping the floor.

He takes a moment to notice you, but when he does he smiles at you fondly and greets you in a trusting tone. "Hello my son, I'm afraid services aren't until tomorrow. Is there anything you can help you with?"

“Yes. I’m looking for Ira? She’s a friend of mine and I need to speak with her.” You say, deciding to be polite to the old man.

“Ah Ira, she should be in the back. I heard she lost her job at the hospital recently. Are you her new employer?” The old man asks gingerly.

“We’re more business partners than anything else.” You ask, scratching the back of your head as you look around.

“If you don’t mind me asking, what exactly do you do in a church? We didn’t have one from where I came from so I don’t know what they’re for.”

“Ah. Well that’s quite common. There aren’t many churches; most people nowadays don’t really see a need for them. At one time all Churches were places of worship. A place you would go to praise to plead to gods or deities. Some churches still do that, however this church is more a place people of similar minds gather to celebrate the importance aspects of humanity, humility, honesty, kindness, trust, and understanding. Myself and others who attend this church do our best to look after and take care of the downtrodden who live and enter our city.” The old man explains.

“I don’t mean to sound stupid, but what’s a god?” You ask.

“Well a god is usually some kind of higher power, a force or being with the power to create or destroy. There have been many over the centuries, some before our recorded history. Some people are very adamant about their beliefs in higher powers and the nature of our creation. I believe everyone is entitled to their own beliefs and I don’t have any right to tell others that they’re wrong. However there are some groups who think otherwise.”

(Cont)
>>
>>28986366
“Alright, thanks for explaining. Do you know any groups or religions I should be careful of?” You ask.

“None specifically, but anyone who worships Reaverbots or anything of that nature you should be very wary of. I may be a man of faith, but even I find it hard to believe that those metal beasts dwelling in those evil structures have anything to do with our creation, at least I pray they don’t…” The old man seems to look very unhappy for a moment before snapping back to his happy self.

“Oh I’m sorry, I’m rambling again. I won’t take up your time.”

"Is there anything you need help with?"

"Oh no, no. We're quite fine here. We are accepting donations though. All the money we get goes back into helping those who need help in our community. So if your business ventures go well, please considering donating some money. What comes around goes around as they say." The old man says with an encouraging smile.

"Alright, I'll keep that in mind." You follow the old man's directions and enter a door leading into the back. After passing a kitchen and a few other rooms you come to a small room at the back of the church where Ira is packing her bag.

"Hey Bass. I was just getting ready to come and see you. Are we heading out?" She asks.

"Not yet. I was thinking we should grab some breakfast/lunch before we pick up my gear."

"Good idea." Ira says with a smile.

The two of you leave the church, with Ira waving "Father Tungsten" goodbye as you head off to Tofu and Stuff for some lunch.

You pay 30 Zenny for six slices of pizza, two large sodas and a big order of cheese sticks. The good is greasy, but it's nothing compared to the food Mr. Beermat used to cook up back at the pub.

What does a spotter actually do, though? Roll never seemed to do much in that role. She'd make Megaman's gear, and that was certainly a big help, but in the dungeons themselves she mostly just points out the obvious. You walk into a room with a giant Refractor on a pedestal and she says "Megaman, I'm detecting a large Refractor in this room". Really, Roll? I wouldn't have figured that out on my own.

"Ira we should talk about what role you're going to play on our Digging Team we have set up here." You say, biting into a cheese stick.

"I'm willing to do anything to help, I just need to be told how. After all I'm newer to this Digger stuff then you are." Ira rubs her hands together eagerly, looking just as excited as you are to finally start Digging.

"Well considering you don't have a weapon or any kind of experience fighting, you should probably be my Spotter and stay outside of the ruin. Spotters normally operate from a ship, supporting the Digger or Diggers that go inside ruins by keeping in constant communication, warning them of potential dangers and traps, and if they have the equipment sometimes they keep track of them inside of the ruin and even navigate them towards or away from sources of Refractor energy, since large Reaverbots can be confused for Refractors by their energy signals. However we don't have any of that equipment. All we have are two way radios..."

"So I'm stuck talking to you over the radio?" Ira asks, seeming a little disappointed.

"Well yeah, but you'll be the one making sure I keep my eyes open and don't step into any traps. Plus if I get hurt or incapacitated it'll be your job to get help, or if need be, drag by ass out of the ruin and stop me from dying. You're limited in how you can help me at the moment, but if I didn't have you wish me and something went wrong, I'd just be another skeleton in a ruin." You explain, Ira growing more serious.

(Cont)
>>
>>28987051
"Oh! Well when you put it like that I think I have the harder job. Still, I'll do my best, just try not to do anything stupid my first day on the job, I'd never forgive myself if you got hurt when I was supposed keep you out of danger." Ira sips her soda as you tell her more about what you've heard Spotters are supposed to do.

"So Ira, do you know any paths through the Forest that might lead to the Ruins?"

"Of course not. I've barely left town since I arrived here and started working at the hospital. If the mayor doesn't know then I'm not sure who might. Father Tungsten said that people are somewhat afraid to leave the walls of the city with all the ruins around. During the Week of Ruin, Reaverbots hurt this place pretty badly so they built walls and a Militia to keep them safe. The only reason they didn't seal off the ruins was because they were afraid to go anywhere near them. I doubt there's any clear cut path to the ruin and I don't think anyone in town knows where the Forest Ruin is. However the forest isn't that big, I'm sure we can find it if we look hard enough."

>[A] Agree. Looking for a way directly to the ruin is a waste of time, if there are Reaverbots roaming the forest chances are you're going to run into them anyway.

Makes sense. Mayor Gold didn't know much about the ruins either, and she'd have the most reason to know as head of the island. There probably isn't much information to be had. We'll just have to find it ourselves. And hey, who knows, running into Reaverbots in the forest could be good for us. It's not as good as actual ruins, but they still have a good bit of usable salvage on them. And we can always follow their tracks back to their origin.

"Yeah you're right. If the Forest Ruin is dangerous, finding where it is isn't going help us. We should save time and just search the forest. Besides, if we run into Reaverbots I can bust them up and collect the salvage." You nod in agreement and Ira smiles.

"Well I'm glad to have contributed to our plan. All you need to do is collect your gear from the shop, right?"

"Yep. We'll go after we're done eating."

You and Ira chat for a little while as you finish up your food. Ira asks you all about Diggers and what they do, you can only tell her what you've heard and been told.

After your hunger and Ira's curiosity have been filled, the two of you leave and had for the Junk Shop. Tom and Tom let you into the back where Crusier is working on that car of his.

"Do you have my gear finished?" You ask eagerly.

"Yep!" Cruiser says, leading you over to a work bench.

(cont)
>>
>>28987397
On the work bench is a vest and your buster gun. You pick up the vest to examine it, immediately noticing it’s black with yellow lining like you had asked

The vest is large and covers your whole chest. Taking off your jacket, you slide it on over your T-shirt and fasten it. It’s a lot lighter then you expected it to be but the material feels very strong and it looks like it can take quite a beating.

“Like it?” Cruiser asks.

“Love it. How protective is it?”

“Well I don’t know exactly how protective it’s supposed to be, I couldn’t test the vest without risking damage. However I can tell you it’s made of made of an anti-penetrative fiber and special ceramic inserts. These materials were a pain to process and I almost botched the whole thing a couple times when I was making them. However I think it was worth it. That vest should protect you from both penetrating weapons like conventional bullets and heat/energy attacks, like the kind of damage your Buster Gun would deal. Just bare in mind that the vest can only take so much damage before it’ll be useless, those ceramic plates will probably shatter after a couple hard hits and whatever hits you will hurt like a son of a bitch. It’s not like a suit of armor; this vest is meant to stop whatever hits you from going through you, not to shield you from the force of the blow itself.” Cruiser explains as you slip your jacket on and sip it up, concealing your vest underneath it.

“Will it protect me from explosions?”

“Somewhat, but I’d try to avoid that. The vest could stop the shrapnel from entering your chest, but your arms, legs, and head would be totally vulnerable. Plus the sheer force of most explosives would probably do some nasty damage alone.” Crusier admits.

“Alright, how’s my Buster Gun?” You ask.

(Cont)
>>
OOooh i forgot about the mod we found
hope he installed it
>>
>>28987490
Cruiser picks up your Buster Gun and hands it to you.
It looks the same as before, grey with a patchwork metal frame and a rather crude look to it, but it looks a lot cleaner than it did before and it's obviously been fixed up quite a bit

“There were a few faulty parts I had to replace, but other than that it was basic maintenance work.” Cruiser explains, as you continue to look over the weapon.

“I haven’t worked with a lot of Buster Guns, but I’ve worked with enough to know that your Buster Gun is a first generation model.”

“First Generation?” You ask, pulling the Buster Gun over your right arm, trying to get a feel for it again.

“Yep, this one was one of the first ones ever built. Not a prototype, but clearly modeled after one.”

“So what’s the difference between a first generation Buster Gun and the most recent generations?”

“Power for the most part. Modern Busterguns are more complicated, have higher maintaince costs, and have more oomph behind them. Your Buster Gun is fairly weak by comparison; however because of its simplicity it's open to more customization then later generations are. You can install a maximum of 6 parts into this one. I installed that part you gave me into it like you asked. It's a charge module, now you can charge up shots for greater damage. It’ll take about 30 seconds to charge a shot and once you start charging it, you can't stop and fire a shot until it's done so make sure it's a good idea to use a charged shot over a regular one before you try it in a fight."

>Flak Vest: Reduces all heat/energy and penetration damage to torso by 2. Damage to limbs must be rolled by attacker if hit.

>First Generation Buster Gun + Charge Part: 1d8 Damage. Charged shot deals 2d8 damage.

After leaving the city walls and walking across a large field, you come to the edge of the forest. It's fairly thick with trees of varying heights and widths, plenty of shrubs, tall grass, and rocks scattered here and there.

Not seeing any real clue on where to go, you and Ira just head into the forest and begin to walk, looking around for anything that could be the entrance to a ruin...

The forest is thick and the terrain is rough, with nothing in the way of trails of clearings to make walking any easier or faster. You and Ira trek along for about an hour before you come to a collection of rocks surrounding a tree.

The rocks are larger then the ones you've seen and clearly arranged in a circle around a tree with a very wide trunk and roots that are sticking out of the ground.

Circling the tree you don't see anything unusual until Ira points out a hole at the base of the tree. Turning on your headlamp you kneel down and stick your head into the hole, finding that it leads into some kind of room.

"This tree must have grown around the entrance to the ruin! No wonder everyone's seem to have forgotten about it." Ira says in awe, putting a hand to the old tree.

"Well the hole is big enough for me to crawl in and out with my backpack on so I shouldn't have any problems getting in and out. Set your radio channel to 3 and keep it on at all times, I'll try to update you on what I see down there." You say, checking over your gear as you make sure you have everything you need.

>>

I didn't say destroy. I was thinking more along the lines of uprooting it and moving it to the side. We've got giant construction robots in this universe, it's well within the realm of the possible. Besides, do we really have any moral grounds on which to oppose destroying old things? We're a Digger, our entire livelihood is built around going into the ruins of previous civilizations and smashing them up for scrap.

"Ira, I want you to hold onto my money for me. If anything happens to me, I want you to use it to get by and go where you need to go." You say, handing over all your Zenny for both safe keeping and insurance.

"Nothing is going to happen to you, but I'll hold onto this so you don't lose any of it in the ruin. Now get going!" Ira says, stuffing the Zenny in her own backpack.

You take out the bowie knife you bought and mark the tree with a large visible X cut across the front and back. Then you tie your rope around the trunk of the tree and slide into the hole, using the rope to slowly lower yourself down into the darkness.

You watch the ceiling and the walls, the headlamp on your helmet illuminating the darkness as you cautiously descend downwards. After a good thirty feet your feet finally touch solid ground and you're greeted to the dirty, musty entrance to a ruin.

"Bass? How is everything so far?" Ira asks over the radio.

"Fine. No pitfalls or spike walls yet, just a lot of dirt and leaves. I've found the entrance to the ruin, I'm going in now."

You walk down a sharp downward ramp and come to a long hallway where the walls seem to be cleaner and made of the same metal material as the ruins on your home island. Odd, line like glyphs run through the walls, connecting and intersection one another as they stretch connect with the other walls.

Following the hallway, you turn the corner and eventually come to a turnoff where you can see a strange bronze colored door of sorts. Before you can approach the door you hear the soft clunking of metal on metal and look down the hallway to see a single red Reaverbot eye glowing in the darkness.

Turning to face the Reaverbot you raise your Bustergun and begin to charge a shot, seeing with the help of your headlamp that it's a Zakobon like the ones you saw in the ruins back on your home island.

As you charge your shot the Zakobon sees you and lifts it's legs back, dropping a large metal sphere out of the hole in it's bottom section which it quickly kicks towards you.

Reacting quickly you run forward and manage to kick the grenade back at the Zakobon, the large metal sphere clinking off your steel toed boot as it was sent back towards the Reaverbot, landing at it's side before exploding.

The explosion was loud, but small. It did very little damage to the Reaverbot, but the blast was enough to knock it over. Before it can get back up your Bustergun finishes charging and you're able to fire on the Zakobon while it's down.

With the Zakobon down it's a ridiculously easy shot. You pull the firing trigger and fire out a large, penetrated ball of orange energy. It punches through the top of the Zakobon and flies out the other side, tearing the Zakobon in half before sailing down the hall and into the darkness.

The Zakobon explodes moments after being torn in half by your shot, however quite a few Refractor Shards were thrown from the Reaverbot's upon your hit, more-so then if you had just shot and destroyed the Reaverbot normally.

>150 Zenny Found!

With the Zakobon destroyed you call up to Ira and inform her about what just happened.

"Wow! If you can keep up shooting like that these Reaverbots won't be an issue at all!" She exclaims happily.

After collecting the Refractor Shards from the Zakobon, you are ready to move on. There is a room to your left and the hallway continues forward.

You decide to check out the door to your left. It takes a few moments to figure out how to open it, but once you do it opens with ease and opens into a tiny hallway with another door at the end. Going through the next door you enter a large open room with bare walls and a high ceiling.

At the far end of the room are three orange chests, similar to the one you found in the ruin back on Eden island. The treasure chests bring a smile to your face, but your memories of the spiked wall make you freeze in place.

It only takes you a few moments to spot the holes in the ceiling and the odd miss-colored panels on the floor. Holes blend in perfectly with the dark ceiling, looking like simple black dots at first glance and the panels on the floor match up perfectly with the pattern the floor has, the only give away is a slight color difference between them and the floor.

You have no idea what would have come out of the holes in the ceiling if you had stepped on any one of the many floor panels around the room, but knowing how ruins tend to work, you can assume that it wouldn't have been anything good.

Shining your light on the floor, you work your way to the other side of the room, avoiding the floor panels entirely as you go over to claim your treasure.

After a quick test of the chests with your pole, you go up and claim your prize. The first chest holds a bunch of very small refractor shards that all together probably give you about 1000 Zenny.

The second chest holds a large spool with an odd gold colored metal foil around it. The spool is surprisingly light for it's size and the material rather fragile, almost like paper or tin-foil.

The third chest is just plain odd. Inside you find a jumble of stuff. Rocks, bird nests, sticks, lots of leaves arranged in piles, and a strange green board of some kind made of an unusual material with dozens of fine lines and patterns etched on it.

What do you wish to do Bass?

You check the chests and double check the rest of the chests, but you can't find anything. No pressure panels, or wires, or holes, or any break or crack in them. The chests are very solid and the lids are pretty heavy. You doubt any kind of animal could get inside one of these chests.

All the rocks, and leaves, and junk inside the third chest are also way too organized for any kind of animal. It almost reminds you of your toy chest back on Eden Island, only cleaner.

Someone had to have snuck in here and put all this stuff in this chest, but who?

Giving a shrug, you collect the treasures and leave the sticks and rocks and such alone, leaving the room while avoiding the panels of doom.

"I found some Zenny, an odd spool of metal foil, and some kind of green board. One of the chests had a bunch of rocks, sticks, and leaves organized in it like some kind of collection. Would you know anything about that?"

"Huh? That's weird. Maybe it was some kind of animal or bird?" Ira suggests.

"I don't think so. There were holes in the ceiling of the room, but I don't think anything as harmless as a bird was supposed to come through it. Plus the chest didn't have any cracks or holes in it, the lid was pretty heavy too. I doubt anything bigger then a cockroach could have made it's way in there and last time I checked cockroaches didn't have rock and leave collections." You say with a frown, oddly unsettled by this.

"Maybe a kid snuck into the ruin and hid the stuff there? Who knows? I mean who else could have done it? The Reaverbots? Pfff." Ira seems amused by the notion of a Reverbot collecting rocks and laughs a little.

You shake your head and decide to focus on the task at hand. Getting back to exploring the ruin you come to a cross section.

You can go left, forward, or right. You shine your light down the passages and try to see what's down them, but the darkness down here is suffocating.

The floors were pressure panels. If you step on them or try to tamper with them you'd end up setting off the trap in the room, and considering the holes in the ceiling, you'd probably have to deal with spikes, or worse. There weren't any cracks anywhere in the room and the holes in the ceiling were definitely put there deliberately.

>>28990642
>>28990618
>>28990584
You decide to go left. Following your usual precautions, you watch the ceiling, floor, and walls for anything suspicious. However instead of coming to a door or another turn in the hallway you find yourself at a dead end.

It's pretty disappointing, but at the same time you're glad it wasn't some kind of death trap or giant Reaverbot. Just when you're about to run around and leave, you notice a hole in the wall. This one doesn't appear deliberate, the wall looks too worn down and the hole too jagged for it have been made.

You try shining your light into the hole, but it's too small for you to get a good look of what's inside. However it's just big enough for you to stick your arm into it.

There might be something inside of it. What do you want to do Bass?

Then, almost as soon as the pole is inside of the hole, there is a sharp tug as something begins to pull it into the hole. You grab onto the pole with both hands and try to prevent it from being pulled away from you...

Somehow, despite the immense strength of whatever is in the hole or on the other side of the wall, you manage with one large yank, to pull the telescopic pole from the hole's grasp and return it to you with only minor damage.

However, as if angry that you had taken the pole away from it, something inside the hole released a horrible, metallic, ear stinging screech that reverberated throughout the ruin before falling silent.

Not wishing too anger whatever is inside the hole anymore then you already have, you return to the cross section, stashing away your telescopic pole as you look around for any signs of Reaverbots.

You fire your charged shot on the middle Zakobon, hitting it in the right spot and splitting it in half like you did with the first Zakobon you encountered here. The grenade lands in the remains of the split Zakobon and the combined explosion of the grenade and the Zakobon remains explosions, takes the other two remaining Zakobon out in a tremendous explosion.

Once the dust and smoke have cleared you see nothing but charred metal and refractor shards shattered on the floor below you.

Collecting the refractor shards you find about 300 Zenny's worth and look around the room as you do so. You don't find anything else in the room, but you find a whole that has clearly been covered up by whatever crawled into it.

As hard you you try you cannot budge the panel that has been placed over it.

Giving up you return to exploring the ruins, going deeper and deeper into them. After going passing through an odd, hub like room that seemed to hum with energy, and going left and coming to another dead end with a hole in the wall, you came to another choice divergence in the hallway.

You could go forward, or go right.

For some reason you felt that the forward door held something very important behind.

What do you wish to do Bass?

You decide to go right for now, sensing that whatever is behind the door in front of you is very important and you should probably go to it last.

Taking the right door you come to a small hallway with a door to your left. Navigating down it carefully you open the door and step into a small room. It's about as big as your bedroom was back on Eden Isle.

The floor is covered in junk and trash, large branches, tons of leaves, rocks, even large chunks of moss. In the corner is a pile of tall grass, pulled up and arranged into some kind of make shift bed of sorts, next to it is an orange chest.

After checking the room for traps you go over to the chest and find it too is full of many odd things.Rocks, bark, different types of rocks, birds nests, an empty beehive and amongst all the junk is some kind of large, very frightening looking syringe like device only it's made almost completely out of metal.

Taking the treasure you're about to leave when you see what's all over the wall...

Covering almost every inch of the wall and ceiling are drawings, crude, almost child like drawings drawn in something dark, like charcoal or oil.

You call up Ira and tell her about what happened and what you found, describing some of the drawings to her. It's not easy describing crude drawings over the radio, but with Ira's help you manage to figure out what the drawings are about, at least, a little.

Some of the drawings are of people, and one of the drawings is obviously the town with it's walls. Outside of the wall is the forest, and drawn inside of the forest is something that looks like a person but...isn't. It's head and arms are drawn differently and unlike the people, it's all alone. There are plenty of other weird drawings which you assume to be Reaverbots, but you don't see any other drawings of anything resembling the strange person in the forest.

The whole thing is...eerie.

You don't understand what the drawings are about, but whatever drew them wasn't an animal and it wasn't human...

"This is creepy Bass I think you should get out of there!" Ira says, sounding very worried.

"I'm almost towards the end! I can feel it! I'll grab the Refractor and leave." You run back to the room you skipped and head into it. You find yourself in a large open, and very empty room, barely illuminated by your head lamp. You see a door to your left and enter it.

Then, there, right in front of you, is a large, spinning, beautiful blue A-Class Refractor!

You make sure you're totally alone in the room with the Refractor, you check the ceiling, side walls, floors, everywhere and then begin to poke around with your rod to check for anything. Then, after a good 10 minutes of searching and looking, you finally approach the refractor.

It's magnificent and amazing to see a complete A-Class refractor. Sure that giant purple refractor you found with Metalmen was awesome, but you found this Refractor all by yourself. It's yours. Your very first big find as a Digger.

You take out your telescopic pole again and give the refractor a light tap, causing it to emit a soft ping, the kind only a crystal could emit.

You take a deep breath, get your hands ready, reach out, and snatch the Refractor off it's pedestal. You hold it over your head for a moment, frozen and listening in apprehension and fear for the sound of the ceiling crashing down or the doors closing.

However all you hear is silence.

Letting out a sight of relief, you laugh to yourself. With the Refractor under your arm you walk out of the Refractor room and into the large open room outside of it. Glancing around you see nothing is in the room and begin to make your way out.

However you hear something behind you. You manage to turn around just in time to see a humanoid, cycloptic machine drop down from the ceiling, rush up to you, and release a metallic, rage filled, screech right in your face...

Blood oozes from your nose and ears as the screech reverberates throughout your body. Somehow you manage to avoid being totally dazed by the attack and manage to stay on your feet. However even you aren't able to stop the Humanoid Reaverbot from punching your across the room.

"Can we...talk?" You say, lowering in hesitation as you see how badly damaged it is. "Listen, was that your stuff in those chests? Listen I'm sorry about that. You can have that board back..." You slip off your back pack and take off your Bustergun for a moment to start digging through it, however the moment your weapon is out of your hand, the Humanoid rushes at you and pins you up against the wall, it's hands around your throat, slowly growing tighter and tighter, trying to crush your windpipe.

>[A] Load and fire another flare, this time into it's open chest!
>[B] Draw your knife and stab it into it's chest

Then try giving him the board.

Oh come on, we didn't say to remove the buster.

If the board is in hand, jam it into the chest. If not, knife the chest.

I told you guys to go for the reactor first.

The board's not in our hands. The robot took us right when we took our bustergun off to look through our pack.
>>
>>28994927
It doesn't say that. Just that it rushed us. Both its hand are busy choking us, I don't see how it could be holding it.
>>
>[C] Try to over power the robot.

I want to see if we can talk to it.
>>
>>28994947

Didn't say that the robot took the board, the board is still in the pack. Said that the robot took us off our feet right when we went to look through our stuff
>>
>>28994973
Oh, I misread that. I read "it" instead of "us". Silly me. Sorry.

[C] and the circuit board.

I want to make this guy our 'Gospel'.

Maybe it was the drawings, or maybe it's the lack of oxygen to your brain, regardless you believe it's necessary to over power the robot, or at least get it's hands off of you and get some air. Grabbing it's arms you put what oxygen is left in your blood to prying it's arms back.

>Mild Success for Reaver

You manage to get the Humanoid's hands away from your throat and finally get a breath of air, but it quickly overpowers you. Instead of breaking your neck, it lifts you up and throws you across the room and into the adjacent wall.

Colliding with the wall hurts like a son of a bitch and falling sure as hell doesn't feel good ether. If it wasn't for you helmet your skull would crushed and if it weren't for some miracle your neck would be broken.

>HP: 8/26

You manage to roll yourself over and see the Humanoid slowly walking towards you, eye glowing red, and hands shaking, ether from the damage to it's systems or the rage overwhelming it.

You still have your flaregun and flares, if you can hit it in it's open chest...

>[A] Load the flaregun and wait till the Humanoid gets close, then fire at point blank!

You manage to load the flare gun without the Humanoid noticing and you wait as it walks over. Hands shaking, it grabs you by the throat again and lifts you into the air. It's about to snap your neck when it notices the necklace your mother gave you hanging from your neck.

Seeing it's hesitation, you jam the Flaregun into it's chest cavity and fire. It's soft, sensitive innards and circuits are cooked and light on fire.

The Humanoid squeals in agony, stumbling backwards as it's insides burn. You fall to the ground, head throbbing and teeth gritted, watching as the machines burns and suffers.

It falls to it's knees, smoking spewing from it's head and limbs. Before it falls it manages to say something....

"A-A-aa-a-another pr-pro-prototype a-a-a-anathro u-u-uunit i-d-identified. I-i-i-i-i-i am not alon-"

It's whole body explodes before it can finish speaking and you throw up your arms to shield you from the debris that is thrown all over the room.

Lowering your arms you see nothing is left of the psychotic machine and you quickly get to your feet. Grabbing your stuff and the Refractor, you book it through the ruin, making it back to the entrance and climbing the rope to the top, crawling out the hole in the base of the tree, the blue refractor clutched in your grip as blood drips from your head wound.

"Bass!" Ira shouts, rushing to your side. "What happened? I lost contact with you for a while, why didn't you respond? Bass? Bass!"

Your vision begins to blur and Ira's voice becomes distant. Before you close consciousness you wonder what that Humanoid Reaverbot meant...

(Well I'm going to end things here tonight. Thanks for playing everyone! This was wild!)

Well considering everything tonight I can say that Bass has definitely made it to Level 2. Considering all the bloody 20's he rolled during, I don't know, everything, I can't think of any particular moment that would have earned him a Perk.

He did however do a very good job in just about everything else.

You get to choose what stat Bass is boosted in.

+1 in Endurance
or
+1 in Strength
or
+1 in Agility

You have 6 points to put in
-Search
-Craft: Traps
-Knowledge: Digger
Or you can spend five points to learn Language: Ancient

>>28995430
Yeah, what did it mean? We're clearly not a prototype anthro unit, we've got organs and stuff. We're no more an android than anyone else in the Legends time period (which is actually "pretty close to an android", come to think of it, but that's not my point). What about seeing the necklace made it think that? Was our mother one, then?

>>28995485
It was half-insane with loneliness. Even if we had managed to reason with it, there's no guarantee it would wind up as our robot buddy. It could have gone all possessive on us and kept us captive so it would never be alone. And since we, as far as we can tell, have the same metabolic needs as any other Carbon, we probably would have wound up dying from starvation or dehydration.
>>
>>28995485
That reaverbot was a little bitch.

In the future, no trying to talk to the deadly killer robots.

>Language: Ancient (Rudimentary) Somehow, upon awakening, Bass will be able to Read, Write, and Speak an ancient language previously unknown to him. His ability to use and understand the language however will be limited as his understanding of it is like that of a young childs at the moment, very rudamentary.

>>
>>28996007
Probably. Either way, we should somehow get in touch with our dad. Maybe get him to this island - it's much safer, he could get a better house with the money we earn, there's a doctor and all that noise. And he can tell us more about mom.
>>
>>28996048
Perhaps our mom has a scientist father? One with a rich history in researching ancient times?
