"Take it easy," she says, walking away.

You punch 3-1-5-5 into the keypad. It blinks and clicks, and you swing the door open.

... What a mess. Half of the room is carpeted in crumpled paper, growing denser as it approaches the desk. A plump garbage bag is tucked into the corner. A spiderweb of disconnected notes plasters the wall over the bed. The other half, yours, is stocked with standard dorm furniture: twin-sized bed, dresser, desk and chair.

I've never seen a quest where counting votes matters that aren't putting the cart before the horse. The whole point of them is preventing moronic/controversial options from accidentally winning, when quests should be about anons having fun, and creative and inspired ideas getting rewarded and emphasized. Twen shakes her head, "Maybe a few years ago." The three of you exit the dorm. You check your watch - 08:05, you're already late. Twen has no doubt given up on being anything close to tardy, and you doubt AC cared to begin with. "So I had to requisition books and uniforms, as well as replace the extinguisher that AC used last night. The student council treasurer - IR - is a stickler for procedure. So, I had maybe half an hour to fill out the forms, pr- get IR to process them, and get down here. On top of my normal routine."

She looks at the ground, "so, yeah, sorry about that. I shouldn't have let that get to me."

Twen spends the rest of the walk explaining the school hierarchy. The principal, Weaver, is less concerned with handling the students these days. She lets the student council have their run of it. The teachers will step in if the council crosses a line, but otherwise they're too busy managing relations with the rest of the town to involve themselves. The focus of the school is on educating the Questmasters, but Questgeneral High recognizes the necessity of an educated fanbase, and offers a general education curriculum as well.

Not that it helps.

The class representative stops outside 1-A. "Any last minute questions? We're not going to have a good chance to speak again until at least lunch."

And I recommend steering clear of Shadow Master entirely. Conversation with her is trying, at best. You'll know her when you see her - she's the edgy looking one."

Satisfied that you're as ready as you're going to get, you nod to Twen. She adjusts her fez and marches you in, only twenty minutes late to homeroom.

Stoner-sensei looks up from her clipboard. "You're late, Twen. Girls." Her clothes have been straightened somewhat, and her shirt is now mostly tucked in.

The class representative looks contrite. "I apologize, sensei. I was getting our new classmate acquainted with the school. AC was helping me."

The teacher nods. "Sounds fine. Since you weren't here, I took roll today. Introduce the new girl and have a seat - your first period is starting soon, and I don't think Pax will appreciate being held up."

"Right," Twen turns to the class and gestures towards you, "this is QMQ_QM. She'll be joining us starting today. Try to make her feel welcome."

Twen and AC both weave into the aisles of desks. You hesitate, unsure where you should sit.
