“And that was how me and your father saved Christmas” Daiki says, finishing a rather long story as you finally pull on your Anti-G-Force pilot suit in the hanger of the Treasure Star.

“So what happened to those Super Neo-Nazi’s you guys fought? Did they all die when you guys sent their reflection array into the sun?” You ask.

“We have no idea. At the time we were just glad that the 15th Reich was gone and that the Neo-Nazi’s had failed to melt the North Pole. We got so wrapped up in drinking hot chocolate and talking with Nicholas that we forgot to check to see if any Nazi’s had escaped their one way ticket to the sun. I wouldn't worry though, if there are any left Nicholas will take care of them. They've had a grudge against his family ever since they helped beat them the first time around some thousand years ago.“ Daiki smiles and shakes his head the nostalgia clouding his mind.

“Don’t tell Nicholas I told you about him though. He’s pretty anal about remaining secret; though I don’t really blame him after the whole Nazi Incident, but I just told you that story.”

You nod as you tug your helmet over your head and check the seals, Captain Sirus speaks “We've activated the IUS system and are moving to position. The rest of the ships are heading to set up at the Debris field as we speak. We have a couple of minutes before you’ll be able to launch, so take the extra time to do whatever you need to do.”

Well, good to know Jake had some interesting adventures during the timeskip, even without teaming up with Flit as much as they did in their youth. Or Daiki's full of shit. It's really hard to tell with him.

You and Daiki get to work in selecting a load out. The Gawain is smaller than the Merlin and has far less hard points to mount weapons and equipment, however it’s far more mobile and with its MA mode you have even more speed at your disposal. Plus the Gawain has three fixed weapons, two scattering beam cannons in its shoulders and a Railgun in its head with 50 rounds.

It has four hard points, two on its forearms and two on its knees. It has 5 rear hard points available, with two being used up by the Miniature-PDM Missile and Launcher. You’ll need to select what weapons and ammo you want to carry into combat, Daiki suggests weapons at won’t keep you stationary and will allow you to attack on the move and make the most of your speed.

The Treasure Star has a lot of weapons onboard thanks to your efforts to properly stock the bases armory. Many melee weapons are available, beam sabers, heat knives, and more with tons of ranged weapons.

http://pastebin.com/gtTk06qX

It’s time to select your load out Scarlet. What do you want?
>>
Fuck yes, we're back.

>>29131045
Are those 4 hardpoints used for ammo as well?
>>
>>29131067
They can be if you so choose. Hard points can mount weapons, or extra ammunition. You could place fixed weapons on the Gawain's rear hard points though they would be difficult to use in anything but it's MA mode.
>>
>>29131091
Does the rear hard points include the wing-mounted missile launchers, too? Because if they do then we don't really have any room there. Just enough for the missile launchers and a storage rack for a rifle.
>>
>>29131125
Yes they do.
>>
>>29131091
We'll need some grenade launchers on the Gawain, along with some beam sabers, and a regular DODS gun (alternatively the bullpup with explosive and trick ammo). I'd rather not risk accidentally hitting a mine or our buddies out in the field with a stray Hy-DODS shot, especially considering how we're stuck in an asteroid field.

The Gawain has the beam shields already installed in its arms, so at least that won't be an issue. Or does the new wear prevent us from using those?
>>
>>29131177
The beam shields are mounted higher up on the Gawain's arms. They're more wrist mounted then forearm mounted, so you should still be able to mount stuff on the forearm without to many issues, though you probably can't fire any weapons mounted there when the beam shields are activated, though that was a bit of a given.
>>
>>29131202
We need to go with lighter weapons to increase our mobility, so either DODS guns or bullpups on the arms, and grenade launchers on the legs. Beam sabers and ammo on the back. And a larger DODS gun as the main weapon, pethaps?
>>
>>29131202
Okay, then. Missile launchers on the wings. Grenades aren't really the Gawain's style, they're not very good for rapid combat. (As an aside, I think you have a typo in their description. You describe the arm-mounted grenades as having "shit shots". I think you meant "six shots", unless the warheads have really gone down in quality since last we used them.)

Arms should have recharge racks for beam sabers, the most powerful we have. If the Green Knight shows up (if he was a gentleman he wouldn't reappear for another year, but I don't think Vagans studied Arthurian legend), I want to be able to damage his arm blades if he blocks.

Back storage rack is a DODS Rifle. Leg hard points will hold extra ammo for it. The missiles, too. It's four magazines per hard point, based on the Merlin's load out. So how about six reloads of DODS ammo and one for each missile launcher? That way we can Itano Circus and still have some left over for emergencies.
>>
>>29131385
(I meant six shots, not shit shots. Though that's one of my more amusing typos)
>>
>>29131385
Sounds okay, though I wouldn't mind some tricks up our sleeve. Especially if the "I can see into the future" guy shows up.

And I wouldn't be surprised if our missiles are crap, considering how we didn't spend any time upgrading those, unlike kinetic and beam weapons. And the Feds were too busy with their personal vendettas or tied with red tape to properly improve their arsenal.
>>
>>29131488
Well, if you want tricks up our sleeves, the Gawain's not really the suit for it. It's a Char custom, basically. Lots of speed and pretty good firepower, but with any fancy moves being on the pilot to pull off. We can probably do some neat things with transforming. Swapping in and out of MA form to dodge attacks with sudden bursts of speed could be effective.

Still, if you want hardware for providing some tricks, maybe after we fire the Plasma Diver we can get an AMEMBO to bring us out some weapons to fill our freed-up hard points with. Maybe an EM Ballista loaded with trick ammo? That would fill the spare space nicely. Reloads would be difficult, though, unless we empty our magazine of missiles right after the Plasma Diver in order to make room on the ammo rack. So how about this:
>Fire the Plasma Diver.
>Eject cruise missile launcher
>Fire Itano Circus to pick off stragglers.
>Reload missile launchers
>AMEMBO comes out, gives us EM Ballista loaded with goo rounds and one each of spare magazine of flash and explosive

Jake always seemed to be able to swap between ammo types with the Ballista pretty quickly, so if we get a bit of room (which won't be hard, given our unit), we can change to any fancy trick we need. That sound good?
>>
>>29131642
Sounds great. And considering how the TS is pretty close, we can probably even dock there to reload and refuel.

So:
Forearms Hard points- High Power Beam Sabers

Knee Hardpoints: x6 E-Caps and 2 Missile reloads.

Rear Hardpoints: DODS Rifle and Missile Launchers.

I believe you have two extra hard points, unless I missed something.
>>
>>29131843
The Plasma Diver Missile? Or did you count that thing already?

Probably more ammo, I guess.
>>
>>29131869
Never can go wrong with more ammo.
>>
>>29131843
Nope, we're at full capacity. You said five back hard points, two arm, two knee. two back slots are filled up with the Plasma Diver, two with missile launchers, one with a DODS Rifle. The arms are the sabers, and the knees are ammo. We're ready to fly.
>>
>>29131869
Oh my bad. I left that out. The PDM is pretty damn big, so it takes up two hardpoints.

Alright. Are you guys fine with this loadout? Is there anything you want to ask Daiki or do very quickly before you reach the launch point?
>>
>>29131967
Ask our flight team's names? We've got six people on the Treasure Star we don't know, since we added two veterans and four rookies to it. And people with names are statistically less likely to die. That's what killed the Knights of the Round, we never promoted them to named character status.

Also, check out what everyone else is using for a load-out. Is Daiki still using the AGE-1 Phoenix, or has he upgraded? Is Kotetsu's Genoace a ridiculous artillery unit, now that it has DODS Gatlings and HY-DODS Rifles to wield with its six arms? Did Lhuga modify her G-Exes Custom with the G-Bouncer's weapons to further her fangirling of Woolf? And what are the (currently) nameless guys using?
>>
>>29131967
Wish the best of luck to our team, and call Mellis to wish her all the best.

>>29132035
Having names didn't help much Desil and his team.
Though who knows, Dirk was passing out from all that stress and he missed who else survived besides Rena and Flit.
>>
>>29132102
Exactly. We don't know they died. And I said "statistically less likely to die". They can still die, but it's less likely. Consider: Assuming everyone who went with Flit to stop the colony drop died except for Rena and Flit, that means that 0% of unnamed characters survived but 20% of named characters did. That's a clear improvement.
>>
>>29132141
Fair enough. We should check out what happened out there once we get back to Dirk.

Maybe those two broke off because they sensed Dirk and Akito? Akito could've called out to Flit for help, and Flit managed to save him. Dirk didn't really check out what happened back there, only that his cockpit was caved in - and Jack survived that exact same thing in his fight with the Green Knight.
>>
>>29132276
Wouldn't Dirk have sensed Akito being alive, though? We went full-on Kamille Bidan, all paralyzing ourself with the sheer scope of our psychic awareness (amazing realization: Dirk is now Paralyzed Horse from Bravest Warriors. We must write his dialogue as such when we get back to him). He could sense every mind around him, I think he would have noticed Akito.
>>
>>29132326
He sensed every death around him, not every mind. Kinda like Fram does now.
He saw Flit and Rena coming for them, he didn't sense them.
>>
>>29132416
The description implied he sensed them psychically, not physically. But even if that was the case, and he can only sense deaths, we left Akito behind on the Downes after we disabled its shields and hit it with the Photon Ring Ray. I don't feel good about Akito's chances.
>>
>>29132453
No, that's not the case. We already established that Vagan sensors can't see cloaked ships. Otherwise the Treasure Star could never have snuck up on Second Moon. Vagan ships keep from hitting each other through sophisticated inertial navigation, was what we determined.
>>
>>29132445
Asemu could've dragged the AGE-2 out. The Merlin was still equipped with the heavy armor and all its guns, but the cockpit could've been opened - unlike Akito's suit which is much lighter but had a cockpit that can't be opened because it was caved in.
>>
>>29132489
Or Ezelcant already knew we would show up.

Shit.
>>
>>29132489
Or because they're full of X-Rounders.
>>
>>29132544
(That a mistake on my part, I got my notes mixed up and referenced them improperly. My apologies for so many slip ups, I've had a really fucked up week so far

You decide to ask Daiki some questions regarding the people on board the Treasure Star as well as the equipment he and they are using.

"I'm still using the AGE-1 Phoenix. It's gotten me this far and I think I'll serve me well in this battle. As for Kotetsu, I believe he's gotten a hold of some of the stronger weapons you filled the armory with, he should be able to better serve as long range support. As for Lhuga, she's upgraded her G-Exes after making a deal with Madorna a few days back, she was pretty excited to see what Woolf had switched to." Daiki explains as he helps load the ammo onto the knees of the Gawain with a Petite MS.

"What about the men I stationed aboard? What are there names and what do they have?" You ask, going through a quick system's check.

"The recruits are Privates Jerry, George, Elaine, and Cosmo. The Veterans are a Lieutenant Ruthie and a Captain Newman. They are all equipped with Adeles, with the two veterans having customized versions. They appear to have a standard load out of weapons, the veterans seem to want a balance of heavy and medium weapons." Daiki loads up the last of the stuff and you transform the Gawain into MA mode, waiting as you're lowered down and loaded into the revolver style catapult.

Once everything is set and prepped, you're down the take off ramp and fly out into space, firing your thrusters. Within seconds you exit the IUS field and rush towards the general location of the fleet, going as fast as the Gawain will allow.

In the distance you watch as one by one massive Fa Bose class ships de-cloak, revealing in total 12 ships, flying in two groups of six. They fire on you with their beam cannons as you move into firing range, aiming at the spot in the middle of both formations, hoping to take both groups out.

Weaving through cannon blast after cannon blast you get in closer and closer, holding your breath until the targeting radial on your panoramic screen flashes green, confirming you're in firing range.

"Don't fuck with my family!" You shout firing the large missile from the bottom of the Gawain. You don't watch to see the missile strike and instead pull away, flying hard and fast in the other direction, trying to put as much distance between you and the fleet as possible. You only fly for a few seconds when you see an overwhelmingly bright light behind you that gets brighter and brighter before the Gawain is hit by the massive shock wave of energy that came from the miniature PDM.

Even with your protective pilot suit you're still jerked around in your seat, the Gawain sent into a violent spin...

Gripping the controls as you're thrown around you try to stabilize The Gawain as best you can, but as resist the massive shockwave shakes your mobile suit even more, preventing you from stopping the Gawain's violent spin.

It just keeps, spinning, and spinning, and spinning until you just want to scream. You open your mouth to do so and instead vomit before blacking out from the violent turbulence and sickening rotation beating at your body.
-------

You wake up, head throbbing, vision blurry, and you helmet smelling like what you ate for breakfast. You nearly throw up again when you find the Gawain is still in a spin, but after blasting the thrusters and leveling yourself out you manage to stop yourself. Looking around you see you're quite a ways from the battle field, but the explosions in the distance indicate that it's still raging on.

Plotting a course you begin to rush your way back to the fight and check your watch. You were out for a good 25 minutes. Turning on the radio you call your Mother to get a recap of what happened.

"Mom! This is Scarlet! What the hell happened?"

"Scarlet? Thank go you're alive! Daiki said he couldn't find you after the explosion."

"Yeah I was thrown pretty damn hard by the shockwave, blacked out after the Gawain went into a spin. What's the status of the Vagan fleet?"

"You managed to take out most of them and our Photon Blaster cannons wrecked what was left, but two of the ships managed to escape both attacks and have been giving us hell. They have this mobile armor supporting them and-Oh shit!"

The radio lets out a violent blare of static before going dead, indicating it was cut off on the other end. You get a status report from Ma G indicating that the two Fa Bose class ships are blasting their way through the debris field, slowly but steadily. The defenses are holding for now, but the Vagans are pulverizing the defenses with suicide attacks.

(Cont)

The Vagans found the Arthur after the battle at Ambat, didn't they.
>>
>>29133285
The Magic School Bus is trying to support them but is currently under attack by a large number of the surviving Vagan mobile suits. They're most likely trying to circle around the debris field so they can attack the Baronche.

The Camelot is under siege by an unidentified unit, something large, fast, and currently trying to kill your mother. To make matters worse the Treasure Star can't move to support, it's dead in the water after it took a hit to it's engines. Everyone's OK but they can't go anywhere anytime soon.

Lhuga and Koketsu are available to send in to support the others, but their suits aren't as fast as you're suit is however.

You need to decide where you want to go and where Lhuga and Koketsu should go.

Have the Baronche and the MSB regroup. Hogan and his guys will be immensely helpful in the debris field, while Rysis and her team can fall back and help protect the MSB. The TS aces can go help Rysis, while the TS can cloak and charge its cannon to attack one of the ships.
>>
>>29133536
Also, have the guys in the debris spread out to avoid getting caught in the drones' explosions. I hope the turrets are working properly and at least slowing down those things.

The Treasure Star can't turn or maneuver at all at the moment due to the damage it took, they're working on repairs but it's unlikely they'll be finished any time soon. Besides, it can't use it's IUS and it's cannon at the same time.

Hogan and his men are already inside the Debris field, holding off the suicide drone swarm, the Baronche is supporting them and stopping any Vagans that get past them. Ma G isn't sure where Rysis is, but she believe she and Travis are somewhere in the Debris Field.

You can send Koketsu and Lhuga to help the men in the Debris Field, but if you send the Baronche to try and help the MSB, the Pirates will have no support from their ship and any Vagans that make it through the Debris Field will be able to make it to the colonies without any resistance.

Of course, if you don't send someone to help the MSB then they would be overrun and killed.

Are you sure you want to send the Baronche to support the MSB?

"Lhuga, Koketsu, go and support the Magic School Bus. Daiki keep the ship cloaked and keep working on repairs. I'm going to help the Camelot!"

You correct your course and blaze a path towards the Camelot, reaching it in only a few minutes. The Camelot is beaten to hell with large holes in it's hull, most of it's guns blow off or mangled, and destroyed suits littering the Catapult deck. Fighting is going on all around you, with the troops you assigned fighting valiantly against the Vagan attackers and doing their best to keep them away from the ship.

Almost immediately you see the mobile suits aren't the threat, as a massive scattering beam blast slams into the Camelot's catapult deck, obliterating it and punching down into the lower levels of the ship, depressurizing whatever area was below it. The massive black mobile armor soars past the ship, dragging a large crab like claw across it's hull as it does.

It turns around for another attack when it sees you.

"Ah, there you are! I was worried you had actually ran off." The Green Knight says with a jolly laugh.

>[A] "Oh not fucking you again! Why the hell can't I fight someone who doesn't piss me off?

Deciding not to bother talking to the madman, you transform the Gawain into MS Mode and fire your DODS Rifle at the hulking mobile armor. The shots dissipate before they can hit the mobile armor's hull, indicating it has EM Armor.

"I can see you're not in the mood for conversation. Oh well, I'll just have to kill you without practicing my witty banter!" The Green Knight fires a large scattering beam blast at you, which you barely manage to avoid.

You don't see your mother anywhere, but you can tell the Camelot is in very bad shape. A single direct hit at this point would be enough to destroy it.

What do you wish to do Scarlet?

As the mobile armor begins firing, you start evading as best you can, using the stray rocks from the debris field as cover. You keep your distance as you try and contact the Camelot, eventually you manage to get a line to the bridge.

"This is Commander Scarlet! Does anyone know where my mother is?"

"She launched in the Guinevere a couple minutes ago to try and fend off that mobile armor. We haven't seen her since. Please, don't let that thing hit us again! We can't take another hit and we've already lost enough men as it is!"

As you continue running from the Green Knight you think over what needs to be done.

You could try searching for your mother, but with the Green Knight on your tail that's going to be difficult.

You could also try engaging the Green Knight with your current weapons, your missiles should be able to get through the MA's defenses without any issues. You could also try and locate a Hy-DODS rifle to see if that could bypass the EM armor of the MA.

What do you wish to do Scarlet?

Have the Camelot search for Mellis but keep an eye out for her - this guy fights dirty and he's not above attacking her to throw us off. We have stored some ammo caches and weapons in the debris field, we should raid those - hopefully we can find something that can punch through its armor. Maybe even lure it into crashing into some of those suicide drones?

So, theory time. What are the chances that SIN is an AI based on Arthur and programmed to destroy the Federation at any cost?
>>
>>29135727
Probably pretty low. I doubt the Colonies managed to get a hold of Arthur long enough to make a brain imprint of him. Though given how SIN is probably the relay between Arthur and the Vagans, he might have imprinted on it after the war. Didn't Uther say that SIN, as it was created, was basically an embryonic consciousness sent out into the black to mature away from intervention? Arthur could have found it and merged a brain scan of his with it to make a useful tool.
>>
>>29135810
No, Uther said how it wasn't deployed during the war, and that it probably went insane from the isolation. And that it was made as a counter to Arthur and MADNUG - they could've based the AI on what they found out from Rysis and all the battle reports, just tweaked it so one of its priorities is the destruction of the Federation.

They obviously wanted to kill him, and what better way to do it besides throwing your own copy at you?
>>
>>29135810
Besides, we really can't trust anything Uther said, considering how mind alteration was a thing back then and he was imprisoned by Zarth who worked for both the Feds and the Colonists.
>>
>>29136284
Was mind alteration a thing? I don't think we have any evidence of that. Well, Rysis got kind of unsettled when mind control was mentioned, but that's hardly conclusive. Though she also claims that the things she's done were because of her life experiences, not because of her cybernetics, so she might not believe she was controlled. Maybe she just doesn't even like to think about it, because losing control is a fear of hers.

>We have stored some ammo caches and weapons in the debris field, we should raid those - hopefully we can find something that can punch through its armor. Maybe even lure it into crashing into some of those suicide drones?

If you leave the area he'll most likely just sink the Camelot. This guy isn't one for walking into traps. You decide you can't risk leaving, finding your mom or searching for weapons. You'll just have to make do with what you have.

Still in MA mode, you turn around and head to engage the Green Knight.

Priming your missiles you lock on, take aim, and fire...

We should aim for the claws. Disable those and we can outmaneuver him and either get into range for melee or use the DODS spray guns at close range. Those have comparable damage to HY-DODS, if much shorter range, and EM Armor is less effective if you're within the sphere of its influence. So a point-blank spray should hurt him badly.

There's a pretty big chance of that.

She went from engaged to Arthur and the love of his life to his mortal enemy who goes berserk when he's even mentioned. And that the Black Raven had a neural interface which probably screwed with her head even more (which is probably the basis for the Vagan psycommu helmets). She looks disturbed by the mention of mind control, and she said how her entire life is pretty fucked up, not that it's that way because of her choices. We basically know jack shit about her.

So yeah, mind control was most likely a thing back then. And Uther wouldn't really be so hard to reprogram considering how he was in a cryopod the entire time.

>SCARLET SUCCEEDS

Aiming for the mobile armor's claws you fire one wing of missiles at them, which the Green Knight pitifully fails to intercept despite blasting away with a scattering beam cannon. Your missiles fly true and hit their targets, leaving the two clawed arms ragged and damaged, but still functional.

You fly past, the Green Knight firing at you as you past, missing by a mile. "You just got lucky!" He snarls, frustrated at his own horrendous accuracy. Turning for another attack you briefly considering your next course of action.

You could use up your other wing of missiles and take out the claws provided you hit, or you could take a chance and try to engage the Green Knight at close range with it's damaged arms.

>[A] Attack again with your missiles and try to take out the arms
Take the arms out completely. Also, if we can, use the head/turret railgun to fire on his scatter gun if he tries to intercept our missiles again. I can't imagine getting shot with a hyperkinetic round just as your capacitors are fully charged can be good for you. And even if it doesn't work, it will at least distract him.
>>
>>29136826
Sounds fine with me. Might as well fire everything we have at him - his shield probably can't handle all that.
>>
>>29137058
His shield only handles energy weapons. And our beam weapons only fire straight ahead, so we can't strafe with them like we can the other weapons. But once we take out the claws we should close in and hit him with an alpha strike. Maybe stab some bits with our beam sword, too.
>>
>>29137103
I'm expecting this thing to be based on the MA Jake used on Ambat, in which case he can just eject if things get hairy and fly around in his old MS.

Even if he can't do that, there's probably something nasty he can pull off against us.
>>
>>29137149
Yeah, probably. Even if it's not based on the King Arthur, the Dendrobium style of mobile armor is just more practical than conventional escape pods. But I think we can still do some damage to whatever is underneath there if we blow up the scatter cannon or score a direct hit to his engines.

As you try to fire your missiles your targeting systems craps out on you, forcing you to fire the missiles unguided going solely by eye. Despite winging it with no preparation or guidance system to help you manage to set the missiles on their proper course. Of course they don't hit as well as they would if they had been guided and end up doing moderate damage.

Still, a hit is a hit, and that was what you needed. The missiles strike the arms and blow them apart like firecrackers stuffed in lobster claws, leaving nothing my stumps and wires behind for the Green Knight to flail around.

"Gah! This isn't supposed to be happening!" The Green Knight yells, firing away at you as you fly over top of him after a successful strafe.

Now is your chance, the Green Knight is vulnerable, but he could have something nasty up his sleeve. Your beam sabers and scatter cannons are immensely effective at close range and you doubt his EM armor will be able to protect him at close range.

What do you wish to do Scarlet?

Give him a gallant kick, because Scarlet is basically a female Char clone. We transform with our feet pointing forward, we can build up speed in MA form and instantly shift back for a drop kick. He'll have trouble dodging an attack going that fast. We punch through a weak point in his armor with the kick, then fire the scatter guns as we pass through to tear him apart from the inside. Then we exit the other side of him and pose dramatically. Only for the original Green Knight MS to emerge from the explosion and attack us with its blades.

Actually, I changed my mind on the dramatic kick. Let's play it safe for now. Shoot at the gaps with the railgun. Let's change to mobile suit form, too, so we can strafe him with the DODS Rifle while we're at it. Going by canon, even if a suit has EM Armor strong enough to take the shot, a hit to a vulnerable location will still disorient them. How many times did Flit fight off the Magicians 8 by hitting them directly in the cockpit until they gave up out of annoyance? Like, three, I think?

>GREEN KNIGHT CRITICAL SUCCESS

You're caught completely by surprise as the Green Knights MS launches from the MA and swings at you. His arm blade passes under the Gawain's arms and slams into your cockpit.

The screen in front of you goes to static moments before the tip of the blade bursts through the panoramic screen and slides forward, slicing into you below the waist. The pain is sudden, horrific and agonizing beyond anything you've experienced. The feeling of the metal going through you, cutting you practically in half overwhelms you to the point you can't even bring yourself to scream.

"Hahaha! I told you! The Future belongs to the one who can see the future!" The Green Knights laughs over the comm before a familiar voice interrupts him.

"Predict this you fucker!" Rysis yells as the blade is ripped out of the cockpit and out of the hole you watch as the Green Knight is completely disintegrated by Rysis's Buster Rifle.

You hear Rysis calling to you, but you can't reply, you can't think, you're having a very hard time breathing very much less moving. You see blood bubbling out of you in droplets that float around the cockpit.

Time seems to slow and the pain dulls your mind. You watch in slow motion as Rysis rips the cockpit off the Gawain and pulls both of your halves into the cockpit of her suit. She thrashes the controls and begins to fly somewhere, fast, very fast. You can hear her talking to you, but your head is so dump and light that you can't make out anything she's saying, even as she's crying and screaming.

Somehow you manage to stay away for quite a while, until Rysis opens the cockpit and you're thrown down on some kind of cart, men in white rush you off, bright florescent lights shine down into your eyes as everything goes dark.

Before it goes dark however, you hear Rysis speak to you.

"You don't deserve this Scarlet. I won't let you die, not like this...forgive me if this hurts you."

Seriously, we really need those happy adventures in time and space that Crosswire promised us during the timeskip. We need them so much. On the plus side, with cyborg Scarlet and psychic Fram, we might be able to communicate with Dirk even through his paralysis. That'll be good, right?
>>

We still have the Gen-2 epilogue to go through, with Leviathan showing its true colors, Olfenoas being outed, and figuring out what the deal with the Kings is.
We have shit to do before Gen-3.
>>
>>29139051
Also, a thought: Scarlet got sliced in half below the waist. We're probably not going to be able to have Scarlet and Asemu's kid for our Gen 3 pilot, now. I doubt her uterus is going to be intact after this. And with Dirk too paralyzed to have kids with Rena, we're kind of lacking any ability to continue the family line. I guess we'll go with an adopted kid for the next Crocker, then? Unless Dirk wakes up or Rysis's shady surgeon friends are REALLY good at their job, I suppose.
>>
>>29138983
Hours had passed and Rysis still sat in the waiting room of the clinic. The surgery was finished long ago and the battle ended before that, yet she didn't feel like leaving. She didn't want to face what had happened and what she had to do to keep the girl she was determined to protect alive. The waiting room was small and bare, with white walls and folding chairs lined up against the walls, not even a stack of shitty magazines were available to read.

Travis entered the room and sat next to her. He stayed silent for a few moments before speaking.

"We lost a lot of men but we managed to pull through. The pirates lost their leader and the Camelot was sunk, but the Fa Bose ship that got to Minsry only landed a few shots before that purple haired girl showed up in that Vagan suit, tore the fucking ship apart like it was made of aluminum foil." Travis tried to sound happy about what had happened, but he could tell nothing would brighten Rysis's mood.

Eventually he had to ask. "How is she?"

"Alive, if barely. She lost just about everything below the waist and suffered some heavy spinal damage. They think they can recover and patch up her important parts, sexual organs, small intestines, but I doubt it. Besides that from the waist down she's going to be full machine. She has some brain damage from the blood loss and depressurization. Nothing serious, but they're going to have to give her...some implants to compensate for the damage" Rysis looks at the floor, speaking in a low, harsh tone.

"It's not your fault Rysis" Travis says, causing Rysis to look up at him, glaring.

"It IS my fault Travis. I wished she was more like me. I was a fucking selfish fool who ended up destroying the one person I thought I could save from what happened to me!"

Travis was silent, but didn't break eye contact from Rysis. "Are we going to tell them?"

"No. Fuck no. Mellis would gut me like a pig and Jake would lose his god damn mind. I'd rather tell them their daughter died a hero then survived as a broken monster."

"She's not a monster Rysis and neither are you."

"Yes I am Travis!" Rysis stood up and grabs Travis by the collar, bringing him up to her. "I'm a monster because I end up turning the people I love into monsters! I ended up forcing Arthur to plug himself into that monstrous machine and now he thinks he's fucking god."

"I still think we should tell them, Jake will understand." Travis states, trying to reason with Rysis.

"It's not about him forgiving me or understanding Travis! It's about keeping Scarlet alive! You know Arthur is going to bring the hammer down on him. You and I have both known it, since the day that boy began to make a change, Arthur would put an end to him and everything he's worked towards and loved. If I can't save Jake then by god I'm going to save his daughter!"

Travis grimaces and shakes his head. "Why can't we help him Rysis? Why can't we tell him about everything?"

"Because Arthur will know. If he doesn't hear us he'll know by Jake's actions. Right now Jake has a chance because he's oblivious to what Arthur is now. If we're lucky he'll just have Jake locked up, or thrown in prison. We only need to wait till Arthur needs to stroke his ego, then we'll be able to end all this. Once. And. For. All." Rysis lets Travis go and heads towards the door and stops briefly.

"I never wanted this Travis. As much as I wished it, I never really wanted it...You won't hate me for this will you?"

Travis shakes his head and rubs his eyes. "I stopped hating you the moment you told me you regretted everything you did during the war. The old Arthur would still love you, even after everything. In the end we're not fighting him, just his shadow."

Or the Ezelcant/SIN hybrid.

Arthur's apparently in some machine that keeps the Federation running, he wouldn't go against everything he's worked for all those years.
Whatever happened, Rysis, your goal is to save your boyfriend.
>>
>>29139554
Rysis and Travis left the secret surgery wing. They were going to lie to their friends and allies about their only daughter. Not because they wanted too, not because they enjoyed it, or had some malicious plan. But because they thought it was the best thing to do.

As long as everyone but them thought Scarlet was dead, Arthur would end up believing the same thing. It would take years for Scarlet to return to 'normal' and even then she wouldn't be her old self. But Rysis survived and even though she hated herself, what she did, and what she had become, Rysis knew Scarlet was different and still could be different.

Even as darkness was slowly settling down around the Earth Federation and the Crocker family, Travis and Rysis knew that the darker things got, the brighter things would be, because when things were at their worst, the man responsible for it all would raise his head, and after almost 100 years of waiting, Rysis would be standing there, ready to cut it off.

>>29139701

>>
>>29139657
You think it was Arthur who sent Jake that? Huh. That's an interesting interpretation. Actually makes a lot of sense. But I don't think it was to help him. I think it was to hurt him. He sent his enemy a barely-controllable precognitive war machine. And then he pinned the results of it on Jake. Seems like a nice, subtle way to get Jake discredited.
>>
>>29139759
What if said machine is SID? Arthur was transporting SID and the EXA-DB when Rysis fought him for the last time. He was, by all accounts, still sane and human at that point. Perhaps he got very badly wounded, and had to enter into one of the cryopods stored in the EXA-DB. But those aren't just cryopods, they're also mind-machine interfaces. That's how Reuna and Wivik got into SID's systems. And what better machine to force the Federation and Colonies to stop fighting than the ultimate evolutionary weapon?

I don't have too much of a problem with the darkness. I just don't like how it all went to shit because of a few bad rolls. If we had just rolled slightly better, then Dirk wouldn't have had to overload his brain with that telekinesis and Scarlet would have dodged the blade. Both of them would be going home a bit traumatized but otherwise perfectly fine. It gives kind of a feeling of helplessness. Which works, that's very appropriate, but... I really wish it had gone differently. For at least one of the Crockers, anyway.

Jake received that data while exploring ways to improve MaG - the entire psychic crystal thing was barely noticed.
Maybe it's based on whatever it is Arthur's in?

Besides, Uther said that the old feds had zero technology regarding X-Rounders, so them having tech made specifically to stop X-Rounders seems unlikely. Just as it seems unlikely that Arthur gave Zeheart the beam bits tech. My theory? SIN is based on how the rebels saw Arthur, and that thing is working its ass off to destroy the Feds. Meanwhile Arthur's in some machine tasked with regulating the old families and all their bullshit.

>>29139864
He still had the Gundam back then. And the EXA-DB was going for an undisclosed location after his battle with Rysis, so him being in SID is highly unlikely. Though that might give us a chance to save him from whatever nightmare he's trapped in.
>>
>>29139893
Congratulations!

Thanks for running Crosswire, great fun as always, though I wish Scarlet fared better.
>>
>>29139956
Had SID already left by that point? I don't remember the chronology exactly, I thought they hadn't left the package yet by the point the Black Raven attacked.

As for the Grail crystals, the old Federation didn't have any X-Rounder tech back then, but it's been a hundred years and Arthur's apparently gone post-human. Plenty of time for him to make something new. Especially since the Grail crystals were intended for quantum computers, actually. He was working to expand his power with new processor architectures, and along the way discovered a new terror weapon.
>>
>>29140015
No, the Black Raven attacks, Arthur deploys in the Gundam to hold them off, and then the ship gets attacked by unknown forces.
What happened after that is unknown, though we have Rysis ending in a cryopod, Arthur going after Uther (and probably Zarth), Arthur ending the war, and then disappearing with the Gundam. The old Gundam is eventually found, with MaG memory wiped.

As for Arthur and his terror weapon, maybe he developed the Grail crystals by accident and decided to use them as a countermeasure for the X-Rounder threat. Apparently he spent the last hundred years protecting the Federation, keeping peace and order - he has no reason to throw that all away and help the Vagans, especially considering how he hates war, according to Uther.
>>
>>29140115
Maybe. But it would make sense for Arthur to be using the Vagans for his own ends. From what we know about him, he's willing to make sacrifices in the name of his goal. Also, he is just a shadow of his former self, if Travis is right. Perhaps he's decided that the Vagan attack is exactly what he needs to finally forge humanity together into a unified race, where there is no hatred or war.

Oh wow, just realized something: Kio is perfect for him. Kio is exactly what he needs, at least canonically. An immensely powerful X-Rounder, hates conflict, easily manipulated by authority figures, and has connections to the Asunos. And Kio has been foreshadowed as being a Leviathan agent, raised from birth to be a Gundam pilot. Shit, Kio's going to be nasty. Whether he's trying to preserve his peace or still not satisfied with the world he's created, either way Arthur would find the perfect tool in Kio. Well, Gen 3 should be interesting.

..so, Dirk is KO'd, possibly comatose, and Scarlet is assumed dead... who the hell will our Gen 3 protagonist be?
>>
>>29140308
A very good question. Hopefully Dirk will wake up, it would make things a lot easier. Plus, even if Scarlet didn't have to become A CHAR, it would be nice to have Dirk around to do the engineering for our Gen 3 suit. But regardless, if he doesn't get free of his paralysis, there's always the possibility for Jake and Mellis to have another child. They're only forty-one, Mellis shouldn't have gone through menopause yet. Give it a few years, with a kid being born sometime around AG 146 or so, and we'd have a teenage pilot in time for Gen 3.

But there wasn't war for a hundred years before the Vagans showed up. Humanity was pretty much united and enjoying a century of prosperity and peace. He won, and could finally rest for a while.

If anything, the Vagan attack should've riled him up from his sleep ages ago. Ezelcant would be the embodiment of everything he hates.

And Kio Ainoa will be a fucking nightmare to deal with.
>>
>>29140385
that or a certain crazy swab lady makes a vat baby for our protagonist. She likely has swabs from EVERYONE.
>>
>>29140403
There were still the remnants of the noble families of the Federation, though. He could have engineered the whole thing as a way to remove them from power, not trusting them to not cause another war eventually. A little war now is an acceptable sacrifice to cleanse the ranks and prevent future threats to his utopia. Which it did, in canon. Arguably, the war was great for the Federation. They managed to get so many corrupt officials killed or arrested, things are great for humanity post-war in the official continuity.
>>
>>29140385
Dirk will probably wake up sooner than we expect. He was still conscious after the battle, so maybe after he stabilizes he'll be up and running after some time. And incredibly pissed.

>>29140470
She already did that back when Dirk got MID as his arm, remember?
>>
>>29140518
Yeah. I figure Dirk will be out for a year and a half at most, going by Kamille's example. But forget about him being angry, can you imagine how furious Rysis will be with him? He got himself made into a cyborg through his own actions, interviewed and STOLE THE CORPSE of Arthur's father, and kicked over Arthur's attempts at stasis by reintroducing nanotech to the Federation. He has done everything she has tried to keep the Crocker family from doing.
>>
>>29140518
Well.. not just Dirk. Mix in the asuno kids and Scarlet too. Take the two strongest families and make a super baby that can become a crazy child soldier. Something I can see happen due to Arthur.

>who the hell will our Gen 3 protagonist be?
The only person our Gen 3 protagonist can be.
>The recruits are...Cosmo.

Can you hear it /tg/? Can you hear that Far Off ROAR!?

I don't think she has "swabs" from the Asuno twins or Scarlet, actually. She never had them unconscious on her table, after all. Also, egg extraction is a lot harder than sperm extraction, so she couldn't have just drugged Yurika and Scarlet and put them back before anyone noticed. Takes too long for her to do it like that.
>>
>>29140502
Actually, Flit's purge in canon just removed the Vagan collaborators from office, it didn't do shit to stop the corruption going rampant. And even then they sucked at their job considering all the stuff the Vagans managed to sneak onto Earth between Gen-2 and 3.

Anyway, if Arthur wanted to remove the noble families from power, he could've done so already ages ago considering all the dirt he has on them.

>>29140590
Don't forget his X-Rounder powers being functional and his big brother instinct kicking in. He's going to call her out on lying about Scarlet being dead the moment he sees her.
>>
>>29140666
What do you think the Grail crystals are made of? And Ideon being the far past of every Gundam universe was something the manga brought up. It's all one big cycle of Ide-powered reincarnation. That's how I rationalize Turn A Gundam as making sense.
>>
>>29140745
It seemed like there was less corruption in Gen 3, I thought. Still some nepotism in the Einus family, some Vagan collaborators for Bisidian to oppose, but generally a better situation all around. The worst that happened was Simons arranging for Girard to die in the X-Rounder tests. Which probably won't happen in this timeline, since we have much better tech in that field than canon. It's a nice consolation prize for getting his father killed. Though for all we know that happened in canon, too, we don't know that much about Girard.
>>
>>29140822
It seemed that way, though they still managed to infiltrate Earth, turn who knows how many people against their teammates, and do God knows what else. Olfenoa was collaborating with the Vagans to get them to stop killing everyone, and then Flit outed him, got him executed and removed everyone who didn't want the Vagans dead from office.

Anyway, if Arthur was the BBEG, he probably would've done something about all the things going on already. He'd remove the nobles, get the Federation working, and strike back at the Vagans without giving them tech. Honestly, my money's still on Uther - the guy who got his fingers in every pie and is responsible for who knows what - maybe even that machine Arthur's in.

>>29140620
Dirk and Yurika's kid would be insane. The Asuno's and Crocker's psychic gearhead's progeny.
>>
>>29140991
Didn't we get told way back at our first visit to Big Ring that Dirk was actually really unlikely to have X-Rounder kids? Something about powerful X-Rounders rarely passing on their abilities, especially if they breed with each other. Akito and Yurika are supposed to be a weird genetic fluke, I think. Though the children of powerful X-Rounders, if they breed with other non-X-Rounders, are likely to have powerful children. That's the implied explanation for Kio. So I guess X-Wave sensitivity is a heterogamous trait, or something like that, appearing every other generation. Which means X-Rounders are more closely related to aphids than humans. Well, that fits with Ezelcant's theory that they're actually lower on the evolutionary ladder than regular humans.
>>
>>29141095
Yeah, you've got a point. Still, the kid would be a lovable complete dork who idolizes his grandpa Jake.

Actually, it occurred to me that the Kings and Crockers have a pattern going on. A father who builds things, and a son who ends up messed up and turned into a half-machine. If Dirk and Arthur ever meet, they'll get along splendidly.
>>
>>29141231
Not just son, Scarlet is half-machine, too. So I guess it's their family fate to lose any children they have to the machines (because come on, it's been hinted enough that it can't just be a red herring). I think that would probably end in violence, though. Begin in violence, too. Dirk would just be so frustrated with Arthur, that he couldn't not punch him. Though I guess MID could hold him back. He's already got control over the good punching arm, I'm sure he can disable the wimpy one.
>>
>>29141366
Then Arthur and Jake engage in a "quit copying me" competition just to hammer in how similar they are, while Dirk stands there wondering whom to punch first.

Actually, speaking of MID, he was analyzing those codes he found in Uther's book. Maybe those things are a way to get out of whatever that machine he's in.
And what did Rysis mean by when she said "she forced him to plug himself"?
>>
>>29141555
That could be. They're something important that Uther couldn't let Arthur know he had (his comments, and the fact that he wrote the code in the dark, implies that he believed Arthur could see through his eyes), so the shutdown code for the God-Machine he's plugged into could be it.

As for Rysis's comment, there's still a lot we don't know about just what happened to Arthur. Given the context I'd assume it was some emotional incident that led him to make that choice on his own, rather than her directly causing it. That's what I got from her saying Arthur would be vulnerable when he acts publicly to satisfy his ego, that's he's doing this because he's lost his mind somehow. But there's still much ambiguity. Like what exactly he'd be doing, or how that would make him vulnerable, or why he'd do it "when things were at their darkest". Whatever it is, it won't be pretty.
>>
>>29141687
Probably a trigger to awaken him when shit hits the fan. The God-Machine is capable of operating on its own, but will wake him up in case something unprecedented happens - like the destruction of Big Ring, a colony drop, or the fall of the Luna base.

As for Arthur stroking his ego, it will probably be some show of force. Leviathan taking over and the public outing of the noble families (Rena's going to be in trouble), or him showing up in SID Gundam as the Legendary Savior would be fitting.

Then again, we've no idea whether what Rysis does is the right thing or if she's manipulated by someone. If she takes out Arthur, she breaks the Federation machine, which in turn helps Ezelcant/SIN in his quest to purge the Earth Sphere.
