You have always wanted to be an emperor. That ambition has burned dimly in the past, tempered by reality. Now the opportunity to realise your ambition has arrived and you are determined not to let it slip. Now is the time to build your empire and become an emperor.

Last Thread: You are the knight, Talon York, and you are the man who will be an emperor. Last thread you promoted a new captain, found out more of Vitria’s troubles (civil war), spent a lot of time strategizing which including choosing a banner, soothed your jealous Champion’s heart and have marched on Mier province with much of your army (including Sarah’s reinforcements).

1. I just noticed this, and I’ll add it to the pastebin later, but I’ve forgotten to mention that Gauron is in the southern hemisphere of their world. This is why the sun sets slightly to the north, why the climate is warmer and why it’s mid-autumn early in the year (the calendar matches ours for simplicity).
2. Thread will be slower today. Been a rocky morning for me but I’m looking forward to this thread.

NB: The lorebin is pretty large and I’m not expecting everybody to read it all. I’m still up for answering questions ITT so as not to alienate players and I’ll try to make things understandable contextually.

Rolls are d20 and the best of the first three posters. Please quote the post you are voting for or rolling against.

As you and your forces advance through Mier province, you notice soldiers occasionally joining your army. As you pass a village or town, a soldier or two might come out in their gear and greet your men like old friends. Probably, you think, because they are old friends. A lot of these newcomers are likely veteran soldiers who had returned to their homes with the fall of Darlesia or even earlier. Now, at the sight of General Talon marching through the province and the widespread knowledge of the queen’s death (Felix told you that the news had been very suddenly spread throughout Vitria in the days he had started his preparations to leave), these men are coming out to join you. Whether it’s the plague of robber barons sweeping through former Darlesian territory, allegiance to old Darlesian or respect for your own abilities is unknown, but at the same time it matters little. If these men will fight for you, then you will represent them regardless of their reason simply for their loyalty. Just as you told Undine, you will see that your men can have a future and a cause they can believe in alongside your own ambitions.

Outside the small town of Trei, you make camp. Arail’s knights who have been investigating the province are to meet with you here and give you all the information they have gathered. You wait for a short while, poring over the local map and notable locations.

PROVINCE
Name: Mier
Owner: Independents
Control: Very Low
Order: Very Low
Population: 500,000
Military Presence: Very Low; Moderate
Resources: Extensive mine network; high quality quarries
Notable Locations:
>Curton - an odd fortress-town that lines the area bordering the Marnn mountains and much of the mine network there. Despite the seeming size of the fortress, the walls are not stone and the populace is relatively small - it is simply long to protect the mines.
>Toulon - a large trading town on the main road to Vitria, Toulon has some high quality smiths and other manufactures.

After a short while, your present cabinet members – Maloric, Glynn, Felix, Undine and Moss join you. You haven’t yet decided whether to invite Arail’s replacement to your cabinet – your cabinet should only be so large, and you already feel as though it is overrepresented in professional soldiers. Lieutenant Illon, who was in charge of scouting and is supposedly of Vitria before moving to Darlesia, reports the status of the province.

>Curton
Curton is currently under the control of Count Bernn, an infamous coward as Glynn calls him. He is little more than a robber baron currently, maintaining a large number of toughs to intimidate the mining town and the surrounding farming villages. Still, the walls are sturdy and your men estimate he has around 1500 of these brutes, even if they are untrained. The populace may support you in an uprising but you will need to be careful of Bernn’s cabinet, which supposedly involves some rogue Darlesian mages.

>Toulon
Toulon has been split into three factions – the mayor, the militia and some three hundred Darlesian soldiers are trying to maintain order, whereas a bandit leader driven north by the RSK has taken root nearby with a large number of rogues and mercenaries. To complicate matters, Taour has a small contingent of knights present who are doing nothing but watching but will likely act if we move on the city.

Maloric, Felix and Moss feel that Curton’s resources justify the extra risk and that Toulon can keep the peace for a little longer. Glynn and Undine feel that the people of Toulon need to be freed from terror ASAP, and that Curton is simply being ruled like it was before – Glynn especially is worried about Taour taking the town.

FYI, I didn’t count >>29153377 as a vote due to the way it was worded.

>1.

You decide to move on Curton, favouring its resources. With that said, you are still worried about another faction seizing Toulon, so you will try to engage in communication with the settlement – if you can spare some soldiers and that will aid them, it will be to your advantage later. It will be four-five days at the very earliest before you can be in Toulon after Curton, and if the bandits have some mages they could wreak havoc.

In taking Curton, there will be some risk. You only see three real options.

>1. Full assault
You will take your army and besiege the settlement. Without any forewarning, it’s likely many of Brenn’s toughs will be caught outside of the walls. You can then force your way in and crush them. Casualties amongst townspeople will likely be minimised here, but you won’t have any assistance.

>2. Work with the people in uprising
If you can get the people to side with you (or even get some of the toughs to aid you over Brenn) then you can have assistance. The time it will take to do this will likely allow Brenn to reinforce though. The townspeople will likely take some casualties as a result of aiding you but may feel better having overthrown their leader themselves.

>3. Stealth mission
You take an elite squad in and defeat Brenn and his cabinet, whilst fomenting an uprising. If successful, you will seize the town with no military casualties and minimal civilian losses, but the difficulty will be high (and somewhat unknown given your lack of knowledge of Brenn’s cabinet).

Alright, so I don't know if this is possible but since he is just a robber baron, and a well known coward, I have an idea for a tactic. It is known that Undine can create ice, can she make a wall of ice that is reflective? And then we position it behind our forces that are drawn out a bit thinner then usual, at just the angle so it looks like a mirror maze, as in our forces look doubled/tripled by the mirage.

Just create a sheer intimidation factor, I assume our name is enough to make him shake, but "fluffing" our forces and then showing up might make it even easier.

As a note there isn't any diplomacy with this one. We're going to take the city.

My only thing with the Sneak Attack option is what are we going to do with the 1500 brutes afterwards? We can't conscript them, that wouldn't reflect well on us, and if we drive them off they might come back under some other robber baron or they might join the other rebels that we have to deal with.

>>29154001
Sure. I still feel like death warmed up, so it'll give me a chance to write both options. Otherwise, I'll give it to the stealth mission unless somebody makes a really convincing case for the deception in the next ten minutes or so.
>>
>>29153983
And can we have more information on the layout of the area around the city, or is it in the paste bin? Because if their is a forest around the place, we could add a lot more campfires randomly placed throughout the forest to further give the impression of a larger force, while having the troops we do have constantly keeping an eye out for scouts that we can capture or kill.
>>
>>29154054
We are not fighting retarded, blind cavemen that can't count. I honestly cannot see how this will work.

but by all means, convince me
>>
>>29154054
It's cleared land around the walls for about half a kilometre or so. The town itself is about two miles long, but quite narrow as the houses run alongside the mines. There are likely quite a few of the toughs patrolling, given that there's way too many to be supported by the town (which is only about 6000 people).
>>
>>29154078

I think it's more plausible just because of the high magic setting. Using illusions and magic to disguise the forces we actually have against a coward who may very well be just a bandit with no sense of recon or siege warfare might just work long enough, we're not saying it'll hold the entire time, that it'll scare him and his brutes. Just enough so we can launch a frontal assault, maybe with a case of Sneak Attack on the side?
>>
>>29154078
Really the whole thing hinges on how much of a coward the guy is, if we can somehow capture a scout of his, and convince that one scout we have a huge force, then allow him to "escape" in some way to head back to tell the robber baron about we would have a much easier time of fooling him, this coupled with the magical mirrors of Undine and a little sorcery, along with our reputation might just make him shit his pants.
>>
I know it was said Undine can't directly control weather, but could she also do a low hanging mist? Obscure our forces further and make the illusion possibly work?
>>
>>29154134

Yes it is a high magic setting, he will probably have mages that are able to count, scry and disbelieve extra campfires and a mirror made out of magical ice.
>>
>>29154183
And they'll most likely be second-rate, easily tricked by a much more skilled magician, in fact, if we could somehow intercept their scrying and give them a sort of "false reading" that would even work better in our favor.
>>
>>29154209

We do have Mal and Undine, they might know how to cause "interference".
>>
>>29154209
We will just have to agree to disagree on this subject.

My vote is still on striketeam, and our army arriving just after to mop up leaderless bandits and protecting the local populace.
High risk, high gain.
>>
>>29154237
If they can then this plan might have a lot more merit then it did originally, would they be able to Aspirational?
>>
>>29154134
>>29154183
The rumours suggest he has some capable mages in his cabinet that used to serve in Darlesian towers. Their specialities are unknown, but it wouldn't be hard for them to have focused sight or some way of detecting magic. Maloric could prevent the latter but not the former. He estimates that it's probably even odds of them noticing it, even if you try a lot of tricks and catch out their patrols, simply due to the mages.

With the vote falling the way it did, and still a fair level of skepticism, I'm going to go with the stealth mission. Post very shortly.
>>
Can we just do the thng we votee for already? This deception thing is clearly a bad idea anyway.
>>
>3.

Time is of the essence, so you figure that a stealth mission is the best way to approach this. It also leaves the option of sending men to Toulon to help them if necessary, as you will only need an occupation force not a besieging army.

You brief your cabinet on this and get a general round of nods and agreement.

Felix speaks, “It seems a most impressive and enjoyable way to seize the town, sire. Although my comrades aren’t here for me to fight alongside, it will be my honour to fight alongside you in such a battle.” He seems rather excited, though whether it’s from the chance to fight alongside you or just the chance of battle is another matter.

Glynn raises a bushy eyebrow. “You’re a general, Felix, and our Imperator is a force of nature. One of you needs to remain behind to command, and I doubt it will be him.”

Felix nods, looking somewhat put out but understands his duty. His quick glance to you suggests that he still hopes you will choose him.

>Any changes? Such as adding Felix, an arcane archer or a flying knight?

That's perfectly fine and reasonable. It's a collaborative game after all.
>>
>>29154291
I guess we can bring Felix but tell Lyn to keep an eye on him
>>
>>29154291

Setting up the deception outside of the city might very well work as a clean up, with the mages distracted by us it would probably be much more viable. Because we need to make sure we finish them off best we can, they would cause nothing but problems down the line.

Rebellions will likely start as soon as they hear rumours of Talon York marching, and seeing the griffon in banners outside their city will probably make the place erupt.

Could Mal do a little extra enchanting trick for us? I know Lynn as a magic helmet that disguises her voice, could we make one for Felix that has our voice with an enhance voice function? Give him a speech to read out, and try to incite the smallfolk that way, and confuse the enemy further.
>>
>>29154344
And what happens if he dies?
>>
>>29154344
On a stealth mission like this - more people is not necessarily better. Furthermore, Felix is an unknown quality, we're not sure of his true loyalty just yet. The team is fine as is in my opinion.

As for fermenting rebellion among the populace, let's leave it to Felix as a test of his command abilities.
>>
>>29154420
Felix says, "No need for an enchantment, sire. Voice projection and modification isn't that difficult - I was a mage in a past life, before I realised my true calling. I don't quite have your imposing figure, but I doubt they'll be able to tell at such a distance and through my armor."
>>
>>29154291
I think that undine is best described as a force of nature rather than us
>>
>>29154426
To keep an eye on him as to be sure he is not planning to kill us or something

>>

Nah it's okay, he'll still be surrounded by the rest of our forces and loyal men outside the town. If he does something out there, they'll put him down.

That said, no I too am a bit ehhh on him and Sarah. But we'll have to have a little faith.

>No changes to party
>Felix will be responsible for rebellion, likes the voice trick. Undine will provide the ice wall for him to use.

You march your army towards Curton. As it is only a day’s march, you rest the night nearby. At dawn, your party sets off to enter the city and your army intends to be a few hours behind. You dress down slightly, with the intention of appearing to be an escort for a magister.

Curton itself is less imposing and more strange as a town. The wooden walls stand only twice the height of a man, although they are heavily patrolled, and the town stretches as far as the eye can see either way, but only a short way up the incline. The mines and their infrastructure take up more room than the town, and you can see the machinery and people milling about on the rises. As you come up to the gate, you see a handful of poorly dressed guards. They wear some dirty Darlesian armor and tabards, but clearly haven’t cleaned them in a week. The eye you with grins as you enter and decide to cause you trouble and prevent entrance. You sigh, but hadn’t really expected things to go so easily.

You take the backseat in this one, figuring that Maloric will have it well in hand. He does love acting like a pompous ass, after all.

“Oh joy, ruffians. Please don’t touch me – or any of my escorts, in case they need to touch me later. I’d rather not have to waste time disinfecting myself,” Maloric says, his voice a sarcastic drawl.

“The hell is that supposed to mean? We’re gonna touch you all we like!”

“Don’t say that, idiot. You make us sound like… shit, I can’t remember but just don’t. What beeznez does a wizard have here?”

Dumb and dumber you figure. Neither are sharp, but the fat one actually seems to have some brains, unlike his brawny friend. The other three toughs linger further behind – these two are clearly the leaders.

“Well, there is a mine here, and that means there are things I can use for magic. I could get more detailed but I fear I’ve already lost you.”

The talking down approach appears to be making them angrier and you wonder whether you’ll need to step in. Fortunately, Maloric still has a trick up his sleeve – or five, really, and suddenly shines five brass coins.

“These are money – you use them to purchase goods and service with which to… well, not so much enjoy, given how miserable your lives no doubt are, but at least suffer a little less in your time here. I will give one to each of you, if you let use through, don’t talk anymore and be extra careful not to touch us.”

Despite the small amount, they seem pleased at the money. As the fat one opens his mouth to talk, Maloric interrupts him with a reminder not to talk and you start moving on as he flicks the coins to each of them with some minor sorcery.

You’re in. Now, to spend some time scouting or simply charge on in…

>1 & 2

You split up, Undine with you and Maloric with Lynn. Figuring that having Mal wandering around talking to random people will attract a lot of attention, you instead let him pose as an eccentric mage.

“I’m not the most eccentric person, Tal, and my acting is pretty poor,” he’s trying to tell you.

“Acting? Maloric, you don’t need to act. You’re a mage and that means no matter what you do you’ll be eccentric – especially around metals and this town. The dwarves always used to joke about the way you behaved towards the various alloys they would have,” Lynn says, voice as innocent as ever.

You figure to leave the two to their squabbling – no need to interrupt a friendly fight, and explore the town and chat with the townspeople.

You do your best to tone down your usual attitude and speech habits. It’s difficult – you’ve spent a lot of time in the past training yourself and your voice to achieve the tone you have, and even more making sure you have the right posture. The Seraphi nobles had been brilliant to practice against but sometimes you fear it worked too well. Still, it seems to work well enough and you believe most of the peasants you speak to buy into the idea that you’re a mercenary – or at most part of Imperator York’s recon team, judging from some of the news and looks you get. Felix has been waving banners, which has been dutifully reported by some of the patrolling toughs, and news has already been spread by your scouts.

Undine gives you an odd look as you walk towards the meeting place with Mal and Lynn. “I must say, I’m surprised how normal you passed as recently.”

“Normal? I don’t think I’m that strange.”

Undine laughs lightly. “You’re not strange, but you’re certainly not normal. Most men could not pass as you no matter how hard you tried – but the image you give off also makes it hard for you to pass as somebody normal. It’s not just your charisma or your ambition – there’s something else about you… I can’t place it, but it makes you appear larger than life. You seem to be able to ‘turn it off’ right now but that might not always be so.”

You aren’t sure what to make of that, but before long you’re with Maloric and Lynn and collating information.

The townspeople are looking forward to your arrival – or Felix’s really. The mines and smelters are busy, and there’s been a lot of trade taking place. Even the toughs can tell, and you suspect that Brenn’s holding them by a thread.

The castle is heavily guarded, and he supposedly has three mages and a very imposing knight. In fact, you know the knight – Sir Roderic, formerly a Marshall of Darlesia and a knight. Why he’s serving Brenn is beyond you, but he’s a threat and despises you. If you go through the mines, there’s supposedly a secret entrance – it’ll be guarded by magical traps and you’ll need to get into the mines. The count keeps his bedroom at the very top, along with most of his personal rooms, and are accessible from a very large balcony.

“Alright, Mal, let’s try this teleport trick of yours. I hope it works better than it did last year – if I wind up in a tree, I will gut you.”

“Oh, to hell with your pessimism. You managed to get onto the ledge from the tree, didn’t you?”

Undine gives you an odd look but you just shake your head with a smile. The real issue with the wards is that if the teleport fails, you’ll still be here and the mages will be alerted to an attempted intrusion. Plus, you did make it to the ledge last time, even if you nearly broke your legs from the jump.

The teleport seems successful, and you’re suddenly very high up. Too high. You’re very certain the four of you are falling, and you’ll likely go splat.

“I am going to gut you, Mal!” you roar, as you pull out your shield. You’ve appeared almost a hundred metres in the air above the balcony, and you feel the wards trigger as you go through them, alerting the foe to your presence and ripping at your armor futilely – Mal at least had the sense to throw a simple defensive charm on the four of you in case the wards reacted violently to your intrusion.

You’re about to hit the ground. Time to see if you can’t save all your arses…

I think i'm mixing it up with another quest, but here are the rules.
3. Rolling involves at least three posts correctly rolling a D20 and quoting the post with the DC requirement. If there are less than three rolls after some time, the QM may roll the remaining dice. If more 1s are rolled than 20s, a Dramatic Failure occurs and if more 20s are rolled than 1s, an Exceptional Success occurs. Rolling equal to or above the DC is otherwise a success - if one 20 and one 1 is rolled, it also counts as a success.

>Target met

As you are about to hit the ground, you channel two blasts of magic through your shield – one barrier at the ground and one at yourselves. The magic of the two sparks, along with Maloric’s attempt to save the four of you, and you feel as though you’ve been hit with a block of stone from both sides and nearly pass out from the pain. You hold it together, and luckily the magic holds and the four of you land softly on the ground. You push yourself up off the ground, knowing the enemy is approaching.

You growl at Maloric, “Next time, I’d rather a tree.”

“If there was one around, I would have aimed for it. Now let’s get moving – if the count’s the coward he’s rumoured to be, he’s likely already fleeing.”

You charge into the adjoining bedroom, only to encounter a pair of slightly better armored toughs than earlier. You make short work of them, and charge out into the hallway. The castle itself seems to be a standard Darlesian design and is very similar to some of the northern RSK castles so you think you know your way around it. From the way the castle meets the hillside, the secret entrance must be underground. You charge to where you believe the great hall will be, which will let you shortcut three levels down the five-storey castle, dealing with the cannon fodder in your war with little issue. Once there, however, you find a big problem.

“Ah, Talon York. I’ve heard you think yourself some sort of King, now. Well, no matter, I shall kill you and show them all how pathetic you truly are – and why the queen was a fool to choose you.” If you didn’t know better, you’d think Sir Roderic held a grudge. Roderic himself is as big as yourself, but with considerably more expensive armour. No runes for him, which means he has some very capable passive enchantments, judging from the sheer amount of sorcery you sense from the armor.

STATS
Strength [5]
Endurance [3]
Speed [3]
Intelligence [3]
Magic [3]
Resistance [3]
Charisma [4]
[SKILLS]
Leadership II – the ability to effectively command and inspire a small army.
Weaponry II – great proficiency in a large variety of weapons.
Battlefield Control I – increases all attributes by one when fighting in a battlefield of own creation.
Battlefield Basics I – proficiency in all general battlefield skills (dodging, blocking etc).
Sorcery (Instinctive) I – ability to use basic sorcery. This sorcery is instinctive rather than properly learnt. You don’t need a focus to cast and are better at ad hoc spells.
[ABILITIES]
Empower Self I – you use sorcery to increase your physical attributes by one point for one hour.
Ad Hoc Projection I – you may project raw magical energy up to melee distance of minor strength. This projected energy may be used as a barrier, to deflect magical attacks or to propel oneself a moderate distance at high speed. The ad hoc nature of this ability makes it versatile, if weak.
Barrier Break I – you can penetrate weak magic barriers, and damage stronger ones, by imbuing some magic into your blows. This also works well against physical barriers.
Focus Self I – by meditating for a short while, your magical channeling improves for your next spell (effectively increasing magic by one for the next spell)
Stat Range: A commoner might have STR 0, a soldier STR 1, a strong soldier STR 2. STR 3 is around normal human peak, but exceptional humans can get to STR 5 in this world without becoming magical. The same applies to all stats, with the exception of MAG and RES. They are magical in origin so don't have normal limits.

… but you’re not stupid enough to meet him. You surge some magic in an attempt to dodge him with a barrier against his axe, but he moves faster than expected and his axe cleaves hard into your breastplate. His magically empowered blow knocks you back and into a wall.

“Talon!” you hear Undine yell, and you have a pretty good feeling this one-on-one fight isn’t one-on-one anymore as you hear a sudden shattering of ice.

>you feel battered and weaker than usual. HP at half.

Surging to your feet, you need to aid Undine, who is standing on the floor above you, preparing another wave of icicles to rain down on Roderic. For his part, he is standing firm, though his stance is belied by the icicle protruding from his right leg. Undine most likely tagged him when he attempted to follow-up on his strike.

Oh. I just thought it was like that status effect WEAK which reduces your max HP to half for a short time. I guess that makes more sense.
>>
>1.

You’re not in a position to risk yourself too much after the recent troubles you’ve had. Deciding to take advantage of Undine’s self-professed all-rounder capabilities, you elect to take a tag-team approach: you’ll assault him in close quarters whilst she bombards him with magic, then you’ll alternative and she’ll fight in close quarters and you’ll rest. For the future, you think you’ll bring a bow so you can be a tad more useful – you know how to use one, after all.

Deciding to get a start, you charge in against the wounded Roderic first, as he braces and blocks Undine’s icicles.

Your blade pierces through Roderic’s guard and through his right arm. He howls like the wounded beast he is and swings wildly at you, but you bounce back out of range. You hear him hiss as he overextends himself on his right leg, and Undine is quick on the punch. You feel the snap of sorcery, which is getting familiar now, and the tiles under his boot shatter. Roderic screams, but a sudden surge of adrenaline pushes him towards you. With a burst of empowerment, you leap back out of his reach.

“Undine! Handle him in close-combat. I need a breather,” you call to her.

Without any hesitation, she leaps down and you see ice forming around her. Roderic attempts to land her with the tip of his axe, but she dances gracefully around him. Ice lashes out from her – no, not ice, a whip of ice-cold water, which rapidly freezing and melting from her power. It scores Roderic’s armor as she passes and slashes his helmet off with one stroke. He screams as it scars his face and attempts to barrel down on her.

Undine’s way of battling is a graceful dance. She intermingles her sorcery and martial arts – ice weapons form in her hands or around her as she moves. Roderic, for all his strength, simply lacks the finesse to keep up with her.

Her whip catches his arm and he lashes at her, the reach of his greataxe ensuring he can strike a true blow. But she is not there, as she leaps over head with the glitter of a dozen icicles pouring down on him. When he closes on her, so close he merely needs to apply the tiniest amount of force to push her down, she blasts him with a sheet of ice or a jet of water. He slips and he slides on the ice that was once the beautifully tiled floor, and the broken tiles filled with water catch his feet and break his stance even as she glides over them.

You can certainly see why she’s a Champion from this, and why she is considered a prodigy. There is no mage, not even magisters specialised in manipulating matter, that could do this so easily. Yet, she says this is but a fraction of her strength. Watching this battle, you can see an empire forming from her skill alone. Sarah was right to pursue her, as was the queen – but she is yours now. And now it is time to prove it.

You leap forward whilst Roderic is not facing you, as Undine does another graceful twirl. He catches your sorcery and spins, his axe at the ready. But it matters not. Your shield hammers into his axe, and then into him as his guard breaks. With a hard thrust of your arm, you knock him down and ready your sword.

Only for Undine to replace his head with a sheet of icicles – and blood. You found it remarkable how quickly it froze once the Roderic’s sorcery ceased to continue warming his body with his death. Healing requires catalysts. For Undine, who doesn't use them, she has to summon them and then cast the healing from them. She looks at you testily, but then smiles with a sigh. You start moving down, moving at a brisk walk, whilst she casts her healing spells. It’s an interesting feeling, to have her casting such strange sorceries in front of you, and then be feeling the effects of them, resetting bones and healing bruises. You can hear the clash of weapons nearby – you are near the bottom.

“I’m done. It’s not perfect – I’m not using to casting like that on the move. But it should keep you going so long as you don’t take another battle-axe to the chest.

“Yes, dear,” you respond as you lower her. You get another look from her, but it slips out of your sight as you move into the entrance hall.

Inside the hall, you see Lynn holding off a large number of toughs on all sides by the castle entrance, whilst Maloric is at the other side of the hall in a duel with a pair of mages. The count, with a pair of mage-knights next to him, is standing in the middle – both of his escape routes are currently blocked.

Lynn appears to be wounded and has lost her helmet at some point. She’s definitely favouring her left-side.

Maloric on the other hand, appears to have things well in hand, but you suspect he’s tiring. You’ve fought alongside him before, and you know that these are magister-level mages he’s fighting, and he can only hold off two with his trickery for so long.

“I’ll help whoever you don’t. The count isn’t going anywhere,” Undine tells you.

We give Maloric some support by stabbing bitches in the face, and Undine uses her range to make it so Lynn doesn't have to deal with as many at a time.

“Undine, help Maloric,” you say as you dart over to help Lynn.

There’s a large pack of toughs facing her but with their backs to you, so you figure to take a leaf from her book. You raise your shield, project a barrier into it, and charge the pack of men in front of you. It’s not quite her attack but is close.

>Target met

Right as you are about to impact into the ball of men, you roar at the top of your lungs. Suddenly, the men shift their stances, trying to turn – only to get bowled over your mobile barrier on your shield. You hear the cutting of steel through flesh and bone, and a fair amount of blood splatters your barrier and shield as Lynn slaughters those that came too close to her. Judging from the wild look in her eyes and the strength she’s showing, it’s safe to say she’s empowering herself to the hilt. You dispel your barrier and bring your sword up, nudging your head towards the men on the other side of her and shoots a feral grin at you.

The two of you hammer into the thugs, who begin to turn and run. Caitlyn won’t have any of it though, and mercilessly begins to cut them down – her sword cleaving through them like they are made of paper. In fact, the shredding is a bit too strong – you wonder briefly if she’s using a spell to make her sword shred her foes more. Still, this ferocity is a bit much…

Although her behaviour bothers you, you don’t have time to indulge Lynn. You do make a note to speak to her later, however. Turning around you spot the count and starting toward you in terror, as his knights advance. Looking behind him, it looks like Undine and Maloric have felled one mage and are about to finish off the other.

These knights are no problem for you but you suspect the count will try to run past you if you engage. You’d prefer him alive for now. In that case, it’d be best if you intimidated them into stopping.

“Stop. I am Imperator Talon York, and I am here to claim Curton under the banner of Harrowmont,” you talk loudly and slowly.

The two knights stop immediately. The count starts babbling and tries to push them forward. The knights take a step back, dropping their weapons and falling to their knees. Well, that wasn’t quite what you were expecting. The count looks at you wild-eyed, still babbling, then behind you – clearly weighing his odds.

He finds them poorly, you guess, as he suddenly tries to charge to where you came in – only to slip on a bit of ice on the floor and collapse to the ground. Lynn suddenly walks past you, her stance predatory and places her sword over him. You see Maloric resting on the other side of the hall, unaware of what’s happening. You can’t quite make out Undine’s expression, but she is running over here.

Basically, you have a holster or something similar with a rune which is tied to another rune on the weapon (note: this limits the amount of other enchantment the weapon could maintain). You throw the weapon, then use the rune to summon it back. Limited number of uses as it recharges over time. Can be interfered with by enemy mages.

Huh, let’s see if we need a second thread today.

Lynn stands there for several seconds. You see Undine come to a stop nearby.

First, her sword starts to quiver. You see a shaking along her arm, and you can feel a surge of… something. It feels like sorcery but also it doesn’t. Then her body starts to shake and you hear a low keening noise.

Finally, she collapses to the ground, her sword clattering against the stones near the count. She grips her sides, sobs wracking her. You stand in silence, a grimace on your face as you watch the girl – she’s so small, her hair matted in blood, that you only now realise that for all her bravado, Caitlyn is still just a young woman.

“Is that it? C-Can I go now?” the count stutters out. You turn to glare at him but Undine beats you to it with a kick to the head and he shuts up, whimpering.

Undine then kneels down besides Lynn, hugging her. You run a hand through your hair and nod at Maloric, who joins you as you step outside. You look out over the walls and can see the edges of the banners of your men – Felix can’t be more than a half-hour away. You can hear the townspeople making an almighty roar – you suspect the rebellion has started, and you start to see makeshift griffin banners come up from some houses and near the mines. Curton is yours.

But as you look back inside at Caitlyn, huddled up and sobbing against Undine, you wonder if you have made a grave mistake despite your victory.

>scene change
>you’re free to do some exploring of the town or surrounding area and ask questions about the place

>Exploring of the castle we're in

See if we can't find any documents about this rebel lord trying to speak with other provinces, or deals he had made with the mines, etc. Important information, lest we have some angry nations barring down on us not honoring things we didn't know about.

>comforting Lynn a little now, with a longer discussion later

You start to walk towards Lynn and Maloric falls in step.

“She hasn’t done that before,” he tells you quietly. “She’s seemed a bit bloodthirsty before – but never this bad.”

“Has she been this badly hurt before?”

He nods but with a thoughtful look. “Perhaps… but it was always only her.” He looks at you oddly but says nothing else, taking a step back. You know better than to press him when he gets like this, so move on to Lynn.

You kneel down beside her, and she turns to you. Her eyes have lost her feral look, but are puffy from all the crying. Her lip shakes as she looks at you.

You place a gentle hand on her shoulder and speak, “Caitlyn, you’re alright. We’re all alright. The town is taken and it’s largely due to you. You’re my knight, are you not? My personal guard?”

You smile at her and she gives you a stiff nod as she tries to regain her composure. You give her a gentle squeeze and she smiles back. You stand back up and give Undine a nod.

“We’ll talk more later, when we’re all relaxed and comfortable. For now, stay with Undine.”

Caitlyn seems to have most of her composure back, although she looks more waifish than ever before. You leave her to Undine and move on to your duties.

Do we know a sending spell? Seems like we are missing out on a lot of diplomacy chances by waiting until we travel somewhere.

We could use sending to speak with the bandit leader who set up shop nearby and tell him "these are borders (insert borders), but I have other trouble, so leave my territory or I kill you and your men". He might actually take us up on it and leave and be someone else's problem for a while. Heck he might destabilize our enemies and make conquest easier for us later (of course any bandit in our borders dies)... Although this feels a bit callous and it would feel more right to put him and his men to the sword, all of them, with no prisoners.

We could also use sending to talk to our generals that went to tulon and ask what the situation is there and give general direction on what to do.

You don't know a sending spell, but any mage (or Undine) can send them. Mage-knights can do short-range sendings. Part of doing the stealth mission was leaving any changes in Toulon's situation to Felix - though you could have tried a sending spell earlier, of course.

Furthermore we know there is a civil war to our north and have an inn already. We could start contacting the minor houses for wheeling and dealing.
There is that baron we failed to negotiate with last time who had his mages retreat. We can point out how impressive our utter massacre of the oncoming troops was and the fact we already have one of the major houses of vitria under house.

Also, people have been discussing the option of supporting the RSK or the Mage Alliance in their war with each other. It is utter insanity to make such a decision before speaking with either. >strategy meeting

You gather your cabinet. Undine informs you, privately, that Lynn appears to be a bit better now, but that she wants to talk to you after the meeting. She says that, for what it’s worth, she thinks you made the right call to let Lynn fight her own demons.

A pair of your men bring the count in.

“Money! I have lots of money. I can give it all to you-“ the count starts to say before he is interrupted by your men.

You might be imagining things, but you suspect your men take great joy in keeping the man quiet. You start the meeting with the aftermath of Curton’s capture.

CURTON AFTERMATH

>You have now seized Curton
>Mier province is contested by yourself and the Independents now
>the mine networks of Mier province are under your control

Felix starts, “Most of the citizens of the city are welcoming us with open arms. It’s… very interesting. I’ve never quite seen it before. Exactly what are your men spreading amongst the people to foment such sterling rebellion?”

You look to Glynn, who shrugs, before responding, “The message is ‘Imperator Talon York is in Harrowmont and welcomes all who aid him.’”

Felix blinks at that, mouthing the words to himself before he nods. “Truly, you are a charismatic individual. Are you really going to welcome them all?” He looks at the count.

You decide to ignore the count for now and move on.

“There have been no military losses. We may gain new troops, if you want some of the toughs Brenn has been using, but otherwise the town is too small and economically vital to recruit from. It will still need to maintain its militia after all.

“With that said, the mines and smelters are in good shape and are already working correctly. There’s a couple of people in the town who want to stand for mayor, but it’s your choice of course. Also, we’ve discovered an interesting connection between Brenn here and the bandits terrorising Toulon – I have an update on that, too. Apparently Brenn here has been supplying them with iron instead of the township, depriving them of metals to use in manufactures.

“As for Toulon, they requested our aid and, with things otherwise well in hand, I chose to send 100 of your mage-knights to aid them. Currently, there is a stalemate, though the Taour knights have vanished somewhere.”

Most of the rest of the news is about minor issues.

COUNT BRENN

You need to make a decision as to what to do about Count Brenn

>1. Leave his justice to the villagers.
>2. Physical punishment (lashings etc)
>3. Banish him.
>4. Custom

THE TOUGHS

You need to decide whether to take Brenn’s toughs into your army. They’re not well-trained, loyal or smart, but they’ll add manpower.

>1. Banish them all
>2. Take them into your army
>3. Attempt to use them as militia
>4. Custom

>1. Let the townspeople choose
>2. Choose your own mayor

>Multiple votes
>Be sure to indicate which topic you are casting each vote for.

>>29160041
>Sarah is talking with him already.
Ah good. My mistake there

>I'm all for being Neutral and taking away land slowly
Good idea actually, let them fight while we take land elsewhere.

>We should know or someone should know about them in our group.
Well, we should discuss that then, info about them is not the same as actually TALKING to them and saying "hello, I am your new neighboring soverign power, how do you feel about recognizing my borders?"

>>29160057
Of course we are executing him
1. He is a robber baron who abused the populace, enough that the mere knowledge we are here was enough for a revolt to take him down.
2. He never surrendered to us. We show mercy if people surrender. We should have sent him a message, before even arriving, say "surrender and we let you live a quiet live in exile with most of your money, oppose us and die".

Who exactly are the independents
Find out a list, contact them from strongest to weakest, see if they have a legitimate reason to be suspecious of us (and if so if we can't do something to prove ourselves), if no reason is given then say "swear fealty or you are next" or if they are robber barons "go into willing exile or you are next".
>>
>>29160117
>2. He never surrendered to us. We show mercy if people surrender. We should have sent him a message, before even arriving, say "surrender and we let you live a quiet live in exile with most of your money, oppose us and die".
He would have gotten support and increased his military strength. The idea is sound, but is flawed since it is basically announcing that we are coming after him.

>>29160213
Independents is basically a name for 'Misc Factions that don't control a whole hex or aren't very important.'

Independents is generally assumed robber barons and rogues. It was mentioned that we take the major strongholds/cities of a province and we win it. So basically we already know who else there is, and we're going after them regardless.

>>
>>29160110
>Leave Count Brenn's justice to the villagers.
>Take toughs into army
>Choose your own mayor
>>
>>29160272

What other options are there?

We show them quarter and allow them into our army? They would never be accepted by our men who likely still hold old grudges. Cannon folder = mouths to feed and house while we wait for them to die.

And if we make them a militia the towns people would fear for their lives still and perhaps not trust them.

If I had the option, I'd kill them all.
>>
>>29160110
Hang him, with publically announcing the justifications as being
1. He did not relinquish power/surrender willingly and required an armed assault that put the lives of the people in danger.
2. He stole from the people whom he was supposed to server as a leader
3. He willingly armed known brigands in a conspiracy to prey on innocent folk, the lives of innocents are on his hands
4. Any other crimes he might have commited
5. Any who wish to peruse evidence of his crimes, it will be made publically available in town hall.

Mercy is for those who actually surrender and spare the lives of our men.

Toughs:
Have your men go through their stuff, records, etc and look for gross cases of corruption or negligence. Those who have commited serious crimes will be punished according to law. Those who haven't will be allowed to enlist as militia.

Mayor
Mix of 1 and 2. Have the town's people nominate candidates, candidates that get enough votes will be interviewed. choose one as mayor and the rest will be his cabinet.

if we banish them they become brigands, and while we know a few of them at least were totally corrupt there might be a few innocents in there.
Also, if any have commited major crimes like murder and rape they would be getting away with it scotts free.
We better have a forum where we ask people to come forward with any accusations of crimes done by the toughs so that they may be tried and punished accordingly if there is justificaiton for it.
>>
>>29160174

Sounds good.

Also agreeing with the idea to appoint our own advisor. Just a single representative of our choosing to be assigned to the town. They will not inherently have any power over the town, as they are there solely to assist and advise the elected official...

I just had a wonderful idea... recruit a militia from the people who rebelled!
The existing toughs are all fired back into the private sector, with the new militia having as one of its standing orders to comb through their histories and persecute any crimes they did while in power.
Remember that some of those toughs are just people of the town who have families and loved ones in the town. They are baically rent a cops. Executing them all will be terrible for PR
>>
>>29160423
I'm just asking because giving titles to family members is a time honored tradition, as is using our family as marriage tokens. 2. then it takes a couple of years and some of them slip between the cracks.

>>
I assume it's what ~750 men left? Some got away, most killed. That is still a huge number. Not only to feed but house. Even if we leave the town to figure out what to do with them that's a force large enough to start their own rebellion, and we would be sitting around too long doing it as well.

And to be honest most, if not all will be killed by the city if even one resident comes up and says, "Yeah he raped me." Off with his head.

>>
>>29160675
Ok, how about this. We ask if any in the town will vouch for any specific tough. Those vouched for remain as militia.

Those accused of heinous crimes by the people will have a short trial and hanged.

Those who have neither good or bad history will come with us when we leave town and we can test their quality on the march. Either to be hired, executed, or dismissed into a major town that can handle the influx
>>
>>29160727
Or we could just banish them.
>>
COUNT BRENN

>1 but do so with a semblance of order

“We’ll allow the people of Curton to determine Brenn’s fate,” you start. Brenn is about to say something, but your men had the foresight to put some cloth in his mouth and so he does little to sway back and forth, looking wild-eyed. “With that said, I would like the townspeople to do so in an orderly fashion – we are looking to build a nation here, after all. I will provide them with some of my own reasons they can use in the trial and I will not hold them to account – but I will monitor it and judge them afterwards.”

This way, you figure, the people get their justice and they all recognise that you are their Imperator, even if you aren’t present always. Your men take Brenn away.

THE TOUGHS

>1 dominant, part of 3

“I don’t want those thugs in my army or in my lands. But… this town is almost defenceless even as they form a militia. I am willing to leave it to the townspeople and their leaders to decide whether any of the toughs are worth keeping to protect the town. Everybody they reject is to be banished from my lands. If they are caught, they will be executed.”

MAYOR

>1 with one of your men

“I am happy to let the townspeople elect their own mayor, so long as the mayor understands he answers to me and will be responsible for administering to the surrounding lands. For the time being, I’ll also leave one of Cormann’s apprentices here to help them with organisation, in case they don’t trust any of Brenn’s bureaucrats. That will also help us keep an eye on any trouble brewing here.”

>Any other matters before moving on to the Toulon approach?
>>
>>29160629
Oh you.
>>
>>29160707
>the townspeople will slowly form a part-time militia and townguard

I don't see a reason to keep the toughs then. Unless we order them to smash into the other rogues, which they won't they'll just join them. Cannon fodder usually doesn't work when they would rather fight on the same side as the guys they are up against.

Also we are going to be making LIBERAL use of this town, with that comes industry, with industry comes people. It will rebuild faster with us using it properly again, and will likely form its own proper guard over time. Maybe even recruitable tier later on.

Owner: Independents
Control: Very Low

Fort Locke - a small fortress that overlooks the mines and quarry of the province.
Niorte - the largest town in Olmm. It lies close to the southern border, on the highway to the RSK ports. It was the largest town in the former Darlesian territory and has high walls and a sturdy castle.

Argyle Estate - House Argyle is the largest non-ruling house in Vitria. They maintain a sprawling estate with a large castle - one of the few remaining areas in Gauron with serfdom.
Castle Gimbon - a castle built by Vitria at the same time as Harrowmont - it was much less ambitious and is better maintained. Even so, its age and quality shows and it will not the hold the pass through to Vitria very well. Gimbon Valley is the only way to Vitria that doesn't involve travelling through much of Vale itself.

no slavery. seriously, no.
I don't care what our alignment actually is, slavery is always bad PR and is a rebellion waiting to happen.

Also, we don't actually NEED slaves, a single major earth elemental can mine better than a whole fuckton of slaves.
>>
>>29160879
Serfdom is incredibly rare, so slaver is likely nonexistent.
>>
>>29160879
Slavery is more or less nonexistent. Lack of any mind-control or real ways to limit magic-use, plus about 60% of the populace capable of casting a spell with lethal consequences (if they try hard enough)? Yeah, no slaves. Even serfdom doesn't really exist - indentured slavery still sort of does but is frowned upon.

We had a big deal about just coming to Mier last thread. In reality after this we should be creating stability in our new and old lands. Building an army and outfitting them. Not over extending ourselves with a forces that is sub-1500.
>>
>>29160914
I think we should CONTACT olmm before marching on anyone.

Yes they might prepare for us, but you know what they might prepare for anyone anyways, and remember that there are a bunch of hungry nations nearby and they were a part of a nation that recently crumbled.

I was thinking of snatching up the second mining province since with it we can get all the smiths/iron we need and prepare our forces, plus it is relatively weak.

TOULON

“With our mage-knights in Toulon, we have forced a stalemate there and with Curton under our control, the bandits no longer have any leverage over the township,” Felix explains. “They’ll likely try to take Toulon by force or terrorise our caravans. They may move on… but with the RSK to the south, ourselves to the east and Taour to the west, I can’t see it happening. I suggest we crush them utterly, sire.”

Moss agrees. “They’re not too numerous, so they won’t have numbers, and we have plentiful magical arms and armour.”

Glynn and Undine believe that we should see to the townspeople. “Plus, we don’t know what Taour’s up to.”

Maloric thinks you should just try to scare them off. “They’re bandits and you’re famous. They’ve got no balls for a fight – offer them a chance to flee or be annihilated. I suspect they’ll take their chances elsewhere.”

>1. Guard Toulon. This will help you prevent any trickery from Taour.

Oh no, the town itself is in a power battle, I don't think it's been mentioned anything about blood being spilled, but we forced everything to a halt with our force there.

While it might have tactical advantage to send the bandits scurring at someone else. It will command more respect from our troops, allies, friends, and the populance if we utterly crush them.
Furthermore it sets an example and other bandits will think twice before entering our territory. Heck they might even run without even waiting for us to demand they leave or die.

Also because now I'm curious how widespread is the knowledge that there is a Source in Harrowmont?
>>
>>29161235
>Why?
Politics, we can rapidly expand if people surrender to us without having to march our army on them.
Making it known that we have all those exceptional things at our disposal acts as shock and awe and gets surrounding factions to surrender to us before being invaded. At which point we can order their troops to fight for us and conquer faster.
>>
>>29161393
You don't know. You'd guess if it were widespread, you'd have a lot of important people knocking on your door.

I mean, an active Source? The first in 200 years? You wouldn't be surprised if one of the archangels appeared in your entrance hall one day. So you suspect it's mostly a secret. Viktor Oaln might have thought he could use it himself to defeat the RSK, after all.
>>
>>29161399

Alternatively bring down armies that are much larger and stronger onto us, from the locals, to the Gods. The Source is next level power, we don't need to be announcing it when we barely have a force to hold the fortress.

Our name alone and deeds alone are enough for that for now.

if taur does move beforehand, what are the chances of us losing those 20 mage knights as they are trapped there alone with no reinforcements?

I thought the "crush the bandits" plan was where we leave all the forces currently in tolun in tolun (the majority of our forces). And then have our force in Mair march upon the bandits, after crushing them go into tolun to assist.

If moving on the bandit means stripping our forces from tolun then perhaps we should force move into tolun, stablize it, and then move on the bandits.

Ga! How many forces do we have where actually? we split our forces three ways already, with some guarding harrowmont, and others split between mair and tolun
>>
>>29161468
you are right, I was wrong on that point before. especially considering victor oaln probably kept it a secret as well when he found out. There are at least 4 factions who know it, but each wanted it to stay a secret and probably wouldn't blab.

Although, once it does become widely known we might consider the option

“Then we’ll leave the company of knights in the township. If Taour moves, then they will find themselves stopped dead there by a hundred mage-knights.”

You figure to leave a number of your men-at-arms and Vitrian soldiers behind at Curton whilst they organise themselves, leaving yourself with a large number of experienced soldiers.

SUGGESTED MARCHING ARMY

35 Darlesian Flying Mage Knights
40 Darlesian Mage Knights

65 Vitrian Mage Knights
200 House Soldiers

FORCES AT HARROWMONT

10 Darlesian Flying Mage Knights
15 Darlesian Mage Knights
50 Darlesian Longbowmen
150 Darlesian Men-at-arms
3 Battlemages
90 Vitrian Mercs

FORCES AT TOULON

100 Vitrian Mage-knights

They have the defensive position there, and the likely the backing of the 300 of their countrymen. They should be alright, if not, we'll have to do some smashing.

Which our own troops know as well.

I assume that our mage knight commanders are competent enough to know when to retreat when in the face of overwhelming force - and this is also assuming an attack from Taur is inbound.

So far, there have been no indications from our scouts of anything untoward happening - no signs of large bodies of troops on the move, no signs of ambush or traps.

Unless our intelligence is badly, badly misjudged, this is a time to take ground and destroy threats rather than hold ground and allow threats to do as they wish.

Undine told us there is a PoP 5 days march from harrowmont which is lightly guarded. We can easily take it, then it is a question of either using it to boost her power or to summon gnome. Each pure elemental can be boosted by a max of 4 places of power, and there are more PoP then there are champions.
>>
>>29161763
I'll vote for it myself, and then we will do things your way and build up control in all three places.

>>29161750
Very well argued. I withdraw my previous concern in >>29161637 in light of your post.
>>
>>29161829

We summoned a minor Earth elemental to replace the job we needed with Gnome.

Mal doesn't /need/ Salamander right now, nor do we. And Undine has the most issues with that particular sister.

If we did go to that PoP, which I'm against unless it was just an adventuring party and our forces went home to protect and begin to restore order, we would probably be best served using it on Undine.
>>
>>29161846
While I definitely want to conquer the other area, there are so many other things to do.
Vitria for example is very time sensitive. And we might benefit from going after the PoP first instead.
In fact, economically vitria might be more important. Iron only gives us mooks if unenchanted. We need to prioritize acquiring enchanters so we can upgrade more men at arms into mageknights.
>>
>>29161888
I prefer having Gnome since she would help quicken city restoration and be a huge boon during battles.

We summoned it as a temporary measure with the intent of getting gnome eventually. If we don't get gnome someone else will and she is too valuable to not get.
She is also stronger then undine, she will be massively useful in combat and massively useful outside of combat (mining, building, etc)

Vitria - an enormous port city. After Vitria was freed, the extravagant nobles had much of the city rebuilt in western fashion - tall, winding spires and bridges between towers hundreds of metres in the air. The city itself is not walled but the design makes it highly defensible nonetheless.
Gimbon Falls - Gimbon Castle's sister fort, Falls is smaller but was built recently. It is positioned so that it can be bypassed on a march to Vitria but it enables easy mustering and protects arable land in the hills. As such, bypassing it could make for supply chain difficulties.

I think this is the first time in this quest that I haven’t had a good idea of the number of active players currently in a thread. Loads of discussion.

>Lynn scene

As you dismiss the meeting and your officers get to work, you notice that Lynn isn’t standing guard nearby as she typically is. Figuring she is in her tent, you go there and are unsurprised.

She is wearing the same clothes you remember her wearing several days ago, when you talked to her about her ancestry. You also remember her partial stripping. She appears to be meditating currently – you wonder if Undine taught her that or it’s something she picked up elsewhere. You lean against a tent post. She doesn’t seem to have noticed you.

And Undine was mad with us because we chose to put some faith in Sarah, a human she clearly outranks and in position and power.

So naturally let's summon her sister, to use heavily in battle, and that she has stated to have issues with. That won't go poorly.

I say we don't waste our power on these things right now, we don't need it and already have enough cabinet issues to worry about. We're doing just fine with things how they are. Further down the line? Oh hell yeah, just zero reason now.

Does summoning salamnder require the use of the PoP?

Also, there is the fact undine is very much against salamnder and misses gnome greatly. Undine isn't our slave, she follows us because she deems us worthy. So getting things she wants helps maintain that.

>>29161965
>Vitria is one of the harder places to try and conquer.
Vitria is currently in a civil war, we have an in with two major houses, and the most prominent pretender, victor, is:
1. Our enemy (we whipped his army)
2. Knows we have the source and can screw us by exposing it
3. Very hated by the minor nobles

It is the ideal time to conquer, it will be VERY hard to dislodge him if he succeeds in solidifying his power and becomes king of vitria.

>>
>>29162037
I'd agree, striking now before Oaln has a chance to solidify his powerbase is essential - taking one of the larger towns will also give up us much needed manpower and industrial scale enchantment for our new armour products.

Speaking of which, how well are the roads built in this land? Are we talking roman style highways or medieval dirt tracks which are cleared of underbrush every now and then? Because a concerted focus from our soldiers on highway building (ala roman legionaries), could have many positive gains.
>>
>>29162171
Why not base her off the sylph from Monster Girl quest?(the VN).
>1. Male Mystic Fox(sylph for now)
Medium artillery / good support caster. Mystic foxes are powerful spiritualists and highly knowledgeable – this fox prefers to research widely. They appear as humanoid foxes with multiple tails. They lack any decent empowerment abilities, making them vulnerable to physical attacks but their magic is so powerful to make that a minor problem at worst.
>Gnome
Good fighter / excellent mage-killer. Pure elementals are the most powerful type of elemental and have a strong connection to the land and magic. Earth elementals can manipulate earth and stone with ease, and also specialises in manipulating the flow of magical energies. This makes her ideal for fighting mages.
>Udine
Good fighter / good anti-army. This fire elemental is brash but has the power to back it up. She can use her fire abilities to incinerate foes but can also access much more magical power than she would otherwise be able to use. She is effective against most enemies but has a particular weakness against mages.
