You stare hard into the wall in front of you, absolutely intent on studying every crack and malformation of the brick directly in front of your eyes. You do this because of Saori- you're a lady's man, but you've found your lady and you'll be damned if you stray, even if Yukari, complete with a skirt, stands on your shoulders as she tries to wiggle her way in the restaurant's men's bathroom. "We're in luck! It's a stall and it's empty!" She says- from the sound of her voice she's brought her head back out. "Alright, lift me up another couple of inches!"You are Richard Diaz, driver for the M26E1 Pershing Heavy Tank "Black Jack" and you physically resist the urge to look up as Yukari talks to you. Instead you grunt and lift yourself up on your toes, giving her the extra inches she needs. "C'mon!" You growl in exertion. "Get in!" With a final small hop you push her up and through the window. You breath in relief, looking down the alley at Grampa Russells- you flash him the OK sign and then turn back to the wall, taking a few more breaths to get your wind back- Yukari was heavier than she looked. After you've taken a few more breaths, you crouch and leap up, grabbing onto the window sill. From here, years of wrestling with Black Jack's gear box, as well as hauling around 20lb track links and 120lb road wheels during maintainance gives you more than enough upper arm strength to pull yourself up through the window- Yukari is able to pull you the rest of the way through.>Wait for Russells here.>Go find Russells outside the bathroom.>Other.

"Alright!" Yukari says, clapping her hands together before rubbing them. "Let's go find Russells!" She says before turning to open the door and head off on her search. You grab her by the collar as she turns to exit. "Woah! Wait." You say, pulling her back into the stall. "What's it going to look like with you walking out of the Men's bathroom?" You say. "Besides, you told Russells to come here- so here is where we stay until he shows up!" You walk towards the stall's door- the bathroom isn't big- two toilet stalls, two sinks and a urinal. You've got a good view of the door from here as well. Yukari, though looking disappointed, agrees and sits on the toilet. "Want me to text him again?" She offers. You shake your head. "No- he'll make his way back here if he's going to come." You tilt your head a bit. "Unless he's decided to ignore the fact that we're waiting back here- he does that sometimes when he's reached his limit of annoyance." Actually that's a bit worrying- he could just flat out ignore you. However, it doesn't come to that- as you're considering whether to try soemthing different, the door swings open. You look at Yukari as you scoot yourself into the corner of the stall that will conceal you once the door is opened- it's her turn to work. "In here!" She says, and the door opens momentarily blinding you to the situation."Yukari, what are you doing in the men's bathroom?" Russells says, obviously trying very hard not to stay calm and avoid freaking out. "I'm trying to have a nice, quiet, unexciting date with Miho and-"You close the door behind him. "Hello, Commander." You say.Yeah, he's definately freaking out now. "GAH! OH GOD!" He screams, voice going up an octave as he immediately levitates six inches off the floor and then comes to a rest facing you hands up and ready for fight or flight. "Oh jeez! Oh man..." He says, clutching his chest- yeah it might've been startling but what the hell did he think was happening? You blink. "You okay?" He nods back at you, glaring beneith deep, calming breaths. "So, finally managed to take Miho out on a date?" You say happily. "Good job! We're here to make sure you don't screw it up.""I don't-" He says. "Wait, why is Yukari here, then?"Yukari smiles. "You and Miho make each other happy!" She says earnestly. "Besides it's so romantic- two tank commanders falling in love on the field of battle..." >>29503551>>29503560I read somewhere that there are hand-wavium covers for vehicles like the Hellcat to make them Sensha-do legal. Its not that big a suspension of disbelief that a cover could be made for the crew.
>>29503495>TigersSo we win even harder then.
>>29503617...From Lafayette quest.Walter Christie told us about that.
>>29503617Hellcats, Wolverines and Jacksons only need to cover up one face to make it legal. And not to mention they historically did it too, though not during WWII.What you are proposing entails covering the top, sides, back, and even the floor for it to even begin to be legal.By that point, it's no longer the original historical concept of the vehicle, but an entirely different design.
>>29503617Can that even be properly covered while also being safe? A hellcat is one thing, this is another.
>>29503617Yeah, but put some perspective here. A Hellcat's cabin is almost all-enclosed, saved for the top. The Semovente's ass is pretty much hanging out bare in the wind.
>>29503696>>29503700>>29503734Ok, fair points all around. I still got more. we replace the Fiat M13/40 with M15/42 tank and the Semovente 75/18 with Semovente 75/34. What the upgrade boils down to is sticking 47mm AT guns on everything possible and giving them HEAT rounds.
>>29503662No, it's literally in the rules
>>29503813>47mm HEATWhere are you getting this? Jentz and Doyle aren't giving figures for those, so I have no idea where you're getting Italian HEAT ammunition from.

>>29504033>>29504047you just make a carbon liner that goes over the open portions while leaving room for the crew to operate. Its simple, really. Not comfortable, but doable.

>>29504421Okay, I'm almost certain that's a bullshit claim now. Engine blocks are thick as fuck, and I doubt that even an HVAP round could punch through 60mm of armor and an aluminum engine block, then have enough momentum left to pierce another layer of armor and bury itself that deep in a berm.I don't doubt that it penetrated the Jagdpanzer, but that's stretching the truth an absurd amount.

>>29504656That was a great movie, especially modifying the tank to simulate firing>>29504671T54 is pretty impressive as well
Ah, I found the quote, it's from Death Traps and its a Jagdpanzer IV:Next, we road-tested the tank, then drove it to the edge of the vobridge to test fire the gun. We looked around for a suitable target and finally found a knocked-out German Jagdpanzer IV assault gun that had been hit by a single shot to the flank and had not burned. We hooked it up to one of our wreckers and dragged it to the other side of the vobridge, on the first level about fifty feet below the crest. The Jagdpanzer was positioned with the forward glacis plate facing us. The distance to our target was approximately a mile and a half. The ammunition for the 90mm T15E1 gun was a standard 90mm round, but the cartrige case was longer to accomodate a larger propellant charge. *snip for length*Anyone standing behind an M4 Sherman could see the projectile go out and curve down slightly as it sped towards the target. This new high-velocity gun was entirely different. When we fired the first round, we could barely see the projectile. It appeared to rise slightly as it struck the target. This was an optical illusion, but the effect was awesome. When it hit the target, sparks shot about sixty feet into the air, as though a giant grinding wheel had hit a piece of metal. When we looked at the target, I was dumbfounded. The 90mm projectile penetrated four inches of armor; went through a five-inch final drive differential shaft, the fighting compartment, and the rear partition of the fighting compartment; penetrated the four-and-a-half-inch crankshaft of the Maybach engine and the one-inch rear armor plate; and dug itself into the ground so deep that we could not locate it.Although we had been told by the ordnance officers from Aberdeen that the tank gun could penetrate thirteen inches of armor at a hundred yards, it was still difficult to believe this awesome power. We all realized that we had a weapon that could blast the hell out of even the most powerful German Mark VI Tiger

>>29504891>>29504713Something's up with Hunnicut's book because I just realised these two are exactly the same
>>29504912T54 ammo and gun was made to get the same performance out of a less unwieldly normal, ie not two piece ammo
>>29504912They're about the same in performance, so Aberdeen didn't do a second firing test.
>>29504577>>29504585Let's take a look at the (alleged) flight path of the shell, shall we?Okay, this is assuming it penetrates the frontal armor. 60mm of somewhat sloped armor, pretty easy for the 90mm, of any AP-type shell. Then, it enters the crew compartment. Pretty liable to happen in a penetration, right? Now we're assuming that the shell is flying directly straight after piercing the armor. Possible, but not garunteed. Now it has to break through whatever people are in the way, as well as the internal equipment and the divider into the engine compartment. Entirely possible, but it's going to lose a lot of momentum. Here's the tricky part: we're at the engine itself, now.First, it has to break into the cylinder walls, or break through the head. That's going to be six cylinder's worth of (spitballing it here) 20mm aluminum casing in the case of the cylinders, not accounting for the fact that there's more than likely a madly whirring piston slapping the shell around at some point in its path.I'm not even going to mention trying to move through the valve train or driveshaft, because both are so dense (relativley) that such a shot would be akin to trying to shoot through an a four-foot solid aluminum block. Now it has to penetrate the rear armor and embed itself so deep in a sand berm it's unrecoverable.See where my skepticism comes from?>>29504779That book is full of exactly the kind of GI stories I was talking about.
>>29504938I'm looking at Hunnicut's other book for heavy tanks, and it puts the T15E2 at different penetration values
>>29504951When I said through eh superstructure of the Jagdtiger, I meant like this
>>29504969Exact same values mang. Except the Firepower book has them in 1000 yard increments instead of 500.
>>29504951except in your example the tank is crewed and running, in the one I quoted from Death Traps, it is neither. not that it should make much of a difference, but yeah.
>>29505007Didn't notice that
>>29505005I was under the assumption we were discussing the Jagdpanzer IV.>>29505022Okay, so we can rule out six inches of flesh. If the engine block was removed, I would believe it, but he specifically states that it was in place, and that the target was a mile and a half away. That just reeks of bullshit.
>>29505074>Six inches of flesh
>>29504319>>"Order a huge desert!"A bit late.
>>29505074I dunno, I didn't read a lot of the previous posts
Yeah...uh...I'll shut up now.>>29504415go with this, I guess
>>29505074I doubt it went through like it was described. However, I would believe it going through a JagdIV if it took the lucky way through and avoided all the thick shit.
"Alright listen, when you get the menues..." You start, and Russells pauses for a moment. "Find out what she's going to get and then order it when the waiter comes." You say quickly, hoping the advice is worth his attention. He looks confused. "Ordering for her, isn't that a bit old fashioned?" You shake your head. "Absolutely not! It's not old fashioned, it's a test!" You say, leaning in. "If you order for her and you get it right, it means you were listening even to something that had nothing to do with you." You grin. "You get it right and you're a good listener- women love that!"He narrows his eyes. "Alright, I'll try it." He says as he walks out of the stall. "This had better work, Richard!" He calls back over his shoulder as he unlocks the door and heads back out onto the floor.>Go to the door and watch him.>Ask Saori for a play-by-play.>Other.
>>29505284We're doomed.>Go to the door and watch him.
>>29505284>Go to the door and watch him.then "try to' mime when he screw up or gets cold feet.

>>29505306You thought this was going to end in anything other than shenanigans?
>>29505316THis. Fuck, we creepy.
>>29505340that's what makes it funny! Although, if we leave the bathroom, where are we going?
>>29505367Back out the window we came from I imagine.
>>29505367Into the sewer, super mario style.
>>29505378But how snarky/suave/smooth would it look if we strode out of the restroom and the restaurant, in full view of Miho and boyfriend while saying nothing.
>>29505423Not very at all
>>29505438Which is why it's perfect for Richards!
>>29505438This guy,>>29505447, gets what I'm going for. All that matters it that it looks smooth to him.
>>29505284>>Ask Saori for a play-by-play.Shouldn't we get out of the bathroom with Yukari now?
>>29505447Okay, that's hilarious
>>29506055Is BlackJack asleep?
This is the part that always sucks- you've done your bit, put them in position to knock out of the park. But now, you wait. You take a seat on the toilet. "Just like being on the crew..." You mutter. "Get 'em in position, then sit there blind while everything happens..." Well, with you're driving Black Jack you've still got a scope."Why don't you ask Saori?" Yukari says helpfully. "She can probably see what's happening!"You blink- this girl is just full of good ideas tonight! You smile at her. "That might work!" You say happily as your start composing a text for Saori- 'Stuck in bathroom, how is our boy doing?' You type out to her.A minute later you get a text back. "You had him order for her? Good idea- Miho appreciates good listeners!" It says. A few moments later you get another one. "He looks really nervous. But Miho's smiling at him!"You compose another quick text: "What advice did you give Miho?" You ask Saori."Let him order for you- if he gets it right he's listening to you!" She says back.Seriously. You're going to have to marry that girl- you're both, like, perfectly attuned to each other- you barely have to plan you both just do things that work out!

Celebrations in Senshado were so much more different than Eurotanks, Holly thought.Handshakes and fist bumps abounded amongst the tank crews as fans chanted the Saunders cheer and there wasn’t a single riot brewing in sight. You’d almost have thought they were the winners. “They seem happy enough,” She said, patting her niece on the shoulder “So why the long face, Jannicke?” “Well,” The blonde sighed and looked glumly towards her guardian. “It was like watching the paralympics.” “Oh come now, don’t be so harsh. Oorai’s just reformed their team, it’s not like they’ll do well on their first match.” “You don’t understand; it was like watching two teams try their hardest to lose. Its basic tankery to commit all your forces to a breakthrough, that Saunders flanking attack should’ve been a signal for the rest of them to move in and take out the Super Pershing and Excelsior.” “Instead we get to see them get defeated in detail, and then ten minutes later Oorai makes the same mistake in return! Two of their best tanks go off on a wild goose chase when there’s still a bunch of Shermans that could threaten their flag tank. What they should’ve done was formed up into a team of five and did a bounding advance.” “Maybe they planned it? The Pershing commander seemed pretty confident when I interviewed him.” Holly said, opening a can of Sapporo and taking a swig. “But that doesn’t make any sense!” Jannicke replied, throwing her hands up in exasperation. “The Shermans are faster than their flag tank and have stabilizers, letting the flag tank get into a running battle with them is a terrible idea! Did you see how stupidly Saunders used three-tank plat- Aagh!” She yelped as someone pressed a chilled beer can into the back of her neck. “Hey!” “You can have that one if you relax.” Holly said, grinning mischievously. “Really, they’re not Danish and you’re on holiday, just take it easy.”
