So, news. Late start tonight due to puppies and dinner, sorry about that one. I plan to run long, but can't promise that will work out, guess we'll see. Archive here: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Strike%20witches%201989And the character sheet is pretty out of date, if you're new and want to get up to speed, ask what's going on, if one of the guys doesn't help out, I will, hahaha. ++“So who am I being introduced to now?” You ask, following Slider through the halls up to the common room. “Japanese and Italian Matrons, I think it was.” She says. “Pretty sure I saw Katsumi too.”You nod- the princess, despite being a princess, isn't bad people, and you kind of enjoy her company. “She's here as the Japanese aggressor?” Slider nods. “Yeah.” She chuckles. “It's actually kind of funny, all the aggressors have to go through Ice to get flights arranged. You should see the looks on their faces when she says you're down for another two days.”You nod- you were aware of that before you and Ice decided to go on your adventure- which took longer than you thought it had- it's easily time for noon chow now. Merlin had said as much, and while it required filing some paperwork, which you'd done late at night just so no one could claim to have seen you doing it, it doesn't really bother you, especially with the situation on the front the way it is. “Who's the Japanese matron?” You ask. She shrugs. “No idea. Hell, I only knew Katsumi was around because I saw her when they came in.” You quirk an eyebrow. “They flew in?” She nods. “Yeah. Not nonstop, dumbass, stop looking at me like that. Their bird was one of their imperial family jets, landed at Heathrow, then they got a lift in a chopper here. You and Alyssa are the only two deranged enough to fly anything that isn't a VTOL or a striker out of this place.”1/2
You chuckle. “It's not that bad, hell, we've got nearly two hundred feet beyond what we need at MTOW.” She looks sideways at you. “And weren't you bitching about how narrow it was and the sides were sheer drops onto some, as you put it jagged ass bullshit rocks and water?” “Uh...” “And how whoever designed it clearly hated pilots beyond all reason and wanted you to all suffer terrible deaths?” “So, moving right along.” You say, caught out. “Is her bitch of a bodyguard with her?” Slider shrugs. “If she is, I haven't seen her. Anyway, it was funny when she requested her first flight time to Ice. Walked right in her office and said so when do I get to fly against him like it was no big deal.”You snort, picturing the image in your head. “How'd Ice handle it?” She laughs again. “I wasn't there, but Katsumi says it was pretty interesting. I kinda- oh, hey, wait, there she is. Hey, Katsumi!” She calls. The Japanese witch turns around and nods, smiling at the both of you. “Ah, hello Rachel, Frank. I'd wondered when I was going to run into you. How have you been?” You shrug. “No complaints here.” She laughs. “Well, that's good. I have my striker tech is down in the hangar, helping Samantha and your crew install new equipment in your fighter, I hope you don't mind. Your Merlin is really quite talented for as young as she is.” You nod, not really sure how to respond. “Oh, speaking of talent, I brought-”You're filled with a sudden sense of impending doom- like every warning receiver in your jet started screaming at once. [x] I sense something. A presence I've not felt since....You turn halfway, your eyes focusing somewhere beyond the tapestries on the wall. “I sense something.” You say, distractedly. “A presence I've not felt since....”“Frank?” Slider says, not quite playing along with the star wars reference. You shake your head. “Jessica's here, Slider.” You say, still trying to pinpoint where she is. Part of you actually expects it to work- the force, indeed. “She... oh man. Ten bucks says she's hunting Katya or Tabitha.” She says, grinning and reaching into her waist pocket. “Any takers?”You shake your head again, and Katsumi just laughs. “I don't have any money on me.” She says. “but if you'll take an IOU...” Slider nods. “You're on. 'cmon Frank, let's go see if your sister is harassing Tabby.”You nod, electing to follow somewhat behind and between the two witches- while you don't harbor any illusions as to their ability to actually stop Jessica, they'll buy you time to react. Ice's office door is open- though your commanding officer isn't. “Huh.” Slider grunts. “That's weird, Tabby's not social enough to-” “To what?” Ice responds, walking in behind the three of you. “I went to get a coke, there's bottles down in the kitchen. Hi Kat, no I won't put you at the head of the line for old time's sake.” Katsumi shrugs. “I didn't expect that to work anyway. Though I will be kidnapping Frank later to go shopping. This place is incredibly boring and needs a tv that wasn't built in nineteen fifty one.” Ice laughs. “Yeah, good luck with that. Even if I gave him a pass, I don't think you could smuggle him off the island without Merlin finding out and wanting to go, and if she goes, half the matrons in the place will have a fit. Took them so long to get the two of them somewhere safe to work with they're terrified we're going to let them run back to the fleet first chance they get.”1/2
“To be fair,” you point out, “I wouldn't exactly complain if we were able to.”“Well, you're not.” Ice says, bluntly. “Sorry. Anyway, what brings the three of you here, other than vague hints at wanting to kidnap one of my pilots?” “Jess-” Katsumi starts, but your deadpan response carries over her softer voice. “My sister is here.” You state, flatly. Ice's eyes narrow, and she looks at Katsumi who shrugs and nods. “Request of the Matrons. They want to see if it's present in the rest of his family.”“What about mom? Or Jake? Or Rex?” You ask, confused. “Your mom's got enough clout to opt to not come.” Ice says. “A lot of the TF108 witches are like that, the ones that opted to not become matrons and just get out are pretty much untouchable by everyone. And your brothers... “ She shrugs. “One's army, one's air force, neither are pilots, neither have been tagged as being unusual.”“Unusual for a bishop” Slider corrects. You look over at her and she shrugs. “Running joke.” She says, simply. “Speaking of unusual, hadn't we better find my sister before she gets into serious trouble somewhere?” You ask. “She's clearly not bothering Ice.”Slider and Katsumi turn to look at you. “Well, she's your sister.” Slider says. “Where should we go look?” [] Wasn't Katya down in the bath? [x] Wasn't Katya down in the bath? We ougghta go check there, like, now. You're honestly torn. You know your sister is probably apt to make a beeline straight for you- and she knows you, so she's bound to be arrowing straight for the hangar. You also know she's very prone to being distracted, especially by people she likes. And she likes Katya, who, last you saw, was headed down to the bath. The combination of the two things is a nightmare scenario for you. “So, uh,” you start, already turning. “Last I saw Katya she was headed towards the bath and- ““And... oh, crap.” Slider says. “Yeah, we'd better get down there.”The three of you don't quite run- that wouldn't be dignified, and you're pretty sure you'd have to explain if you did. It's only when the three of you step inside the tile-lined outer room of the bath that you realize the problem- you can't really go in there, and Slider isn't real keen on being the first of the two of you to greet your sister. “So, uh.” you start, noting that, yes, Katya's clothes are on one of the benches along the wall. “What do we do now?”Katsumi shrugs, and sits down on one of the benches, removing her shoes and socks- you quickly turn around to face the well. “So modest.” She says, laughingly. “I'm not taking anything else off, I don't plan to go all the way in there. Just enough to see if she's hiding in there or trying to molest Katya.”“Shame.” Slider says, glancing up and down at Katsumi. “I mean-”The princess shakes her head. “That's forbidden love.” She says. “I'll be right back.” 1/3
She moves to step past the doorway, then looks back and ducks practically dives out of the way as you're hit by an incredible concussive force and knocked bodily through the door, landing in the bath face down. You vaguely make out your sister's greeting before training takes over for a water landing- you inhale a huge lungful of air before you're driven under the water by the extra weight of your sister- her arms firmly wrapped around your midsection. Thankfully, you're pretty sure Katya was the only one in here, and you didn't see her- and hopefully, she had the good sense to bail as soon as she heard your sister. You'd hate to have to explain to her what you were doing- even if you're relatively sure she wouldn't have a problem with it. She's still not quite sure what to make of Jessica. You thrash briefly, finally getting your legs under you and planting your water-logged boots on the stone floor, pushing up towards air- your eyes screwed shut. “Hi Frank!” your sister practically screams in your ear. “Soooo what were youuuuuu doing down in the bath by Katya, huh? Huh huh huh huhuhuhuh? Were you two being lewd?” “We were not. Hello, Jessica.” Katya says, from off to your right. “Frank only just arrived when you did.” “Oh hi Katya.” You say, sheepishly. “Uh, I Didn't look or anything.” “I know. I doubt you would have had time to anyway.” She says, laughter in her voice. “It is rather steamy down here, and you two were traveling quite quickly. And I watched you surface.”“You really should have looked.” Your sister whispers in your ear. “Yowza.”“Jessica, why do you not go say hello to our commander? I am sure she is in her office upstairs.” Katya says. “I will help your brother out of the bath. I imagine we will be able to deal with any trouble by pointing out he is fully clothed.”2/3
You hear splashing, then Katya takes hold of your wrist and pulls, guiding you out of the bath- Jessica riding on your back. “Sorry for interrupting your bath Katya.” Jessica says. “But it was perfect you were great bait. I can't believe that worked.” “Bait?” Katya asks. “Mind the steps, Frank.” “Yeah Kat said she saw you heading down here and that Frank would probably panic and figure I'd come say hi to you first like I wouldn't say hi to my favorite pilot brother and- ““Jessica, I'm the only one of us that's a pilot.” you say, feeling out the steps underwater, your eyes still closed. “Well yeah that's what I meant.” She responds. “And anyway it worked out and you should have seen your face Kat it was amazing and yours too Rachel and Hi Rachel!”“Hi, squirt.” Slider says, banking on the safety of Jessica riding on your back. “So I need to go say hi to Tabby and I want to say hi to Samantha and where's Patty I haven't seen her and Nicole in a while and I have some stuff for Nicole from her sister and oh yeah Frank there's a package from home for you and I made some cookies and we should go say hi to someone!” [] Well, let's go say hi to Merlin now, before you get bored and I can't keep a leash on you. >>29689194I thoroughly enjoyed 6. especially the obligatory airship battle 5 airships to killavoid Ace Combat assault horizon in all incarnations EXCEPT the 3ds game, which is essentially a remake of AC2
>>29689194I think it may come down to preference. AC6 is pretty decent but the plane selection is EXTREMELY shallow. There's only 15 including the resident superplane.
>>296891946 was a pretty good game. I haven't played any of the others, so I don't know how it stacks up, but I enjoyed 6.And for some reason, I find myself always gravitating to the F-16.

[x] I think I saw Mav and Goose down on the beach, let's go see if they're still down there. “Well,” you say, thankful that the water in the bath is at least warm, being a hotspring and all. “I Think I saw Mav and Goose down on the beach, we can go see if they're still down there.” “You going to change?” Slider asks. You nod. “Yeah, We'll have to head up to the rooms.”“I believe I will come along.” Katya says, standing up. You can't help but note that she got dressed- well, dressed for a witch- in what seems like an eyeblink. You follow Katya and Slider upstairs, with Katsumi off your left and Jessica still riding on your back. You don't even bother looking at the witches that pass you- a few of whom stop to watch the guy in the soaked flight suit with the equally-soaked witch on his back go squelching by in waterlogged boots. You're honestly just glad your watch is waterproof, really. The witches stop outside your door- except Jessica, who seems to think she's coming in too. She protests when you drop her, though she doesn't try to follow past that. You Manage to find a relatively clean pair of BDUs- you keep a couple pairs around for helping the ground crews when you get the chance, though that's rare, at best. 1/2
Dry, and freshly dressed, you fish out a towel for Jessica, who at least thanks you and promptly worms her way past you into your room to steal a pair of pants- three sizes past way too big for her- and a dry undershirt. You step out to let her change, closing the door and nodding at Katsumi, who starts counting, loudly. Jessica emerges a minute later, crestfallen. She looks up at Katsumi with her puppy dog eyes- the ones that even, on occasion, made your mom back down. Katsumi just shakes her head. Jessica actually walks like a normal human being down to the beach- well, up until she sees Patty and Nicole, both of whom have decided to take what sunshine they can get. While the water isn't warm enough for swimming- yet- it's not too bad out, though it's certainly no southern California. You've got a split second to react when you hear the muted pop of Jessica summoning her familiar, the little corgi ears perking out from under her hair. You know what she's about to do, and you think you can get a hand on the collar of her shirt before she does it. [] Let her go. Mav could use a good surprise. [] Nah, let's rein her in. I think setting her loose on squadronmates counts as a warcrime anyway.

[x] Nah, let's rein her in. I think setting her loose on squadronmates counts as a warcrime anyway. The witches present will never, not in the entirety of their lives, forget what comes next. It's almost superhuman how fast you react, they'd say, an utter impossibility- Jessica's foot was already digging into the sand for a sprint when your arm shot out and grabbed a handful of her shirt. Your vastly superior weight countered her boundless energy quite nicely- plus, it probably didn't hurt you'd already braced yourself. Of course, you weren't about to remind them you've lived with Jessica almost the entirety of her life, she's your sister, you know her, and you know exactly what she's going to do, half the time before she even starts doing it. Your sister gets out a strangled “Hgulrk!” as she's yanked back by your grip, the collar of your stolen shirt, thankfully, holding up to the strain.“Jessica. Can we, just once, greet people like a normal human being and not like a smart bomb?” You ask, trying to keep your voice level- and desperately trying to keep a straight face. She glares at you from the ground, her neck craned back to look up at you. All in all, it makes her glare lose almost any semblance it had of being even the slightest bit intimidating- not that it had much of one to begin with. You hold out one hand to her and help her off the sand, giving her a second to brush sand off her- your- pants. She sticks her tongue out at you, but doesn't try to take off, instead calling out to the pair of witches from where she is- which, you suppose, is pretty close to what you'd asked her to do. “Hi Patty! Hi Nicole!” She shouts, waiving as the two of them twist around on their towel to look at your approaching group. 1/3 ( I think)
You note that Mav is in the same red bikini she's had forever- and that she actually tans pretty well. “Well, now.” She says, looking back at your group. “You should have called, Jessica. We'd have set your brother up for you.” “Gee thanks.” You mutter, though it's lost in Jessica's reply. “Hi patty that's ok I got him anyway he and Katya were in the bath I think they were going to do something lewd with Slider but I'm really not sure and Katsumi was there too and you really need to watch frank better if that's the kind of thing he's been doing I mean I don't really care but mom might and it'd look really bad on the news if they were caught and I think I saw a reporter.” You watch Mav's face contort as she attempts to process the information, and shake your head when she looks at you. “She tackled me into the bath, Katya was there. We were worried Jess was going to go bother her.” Mav nods. “Ah, ok. Bad intercept, then?” You shrug. “Eh, It kinda worked? She didn't get to bother Katya.” Mav shrugs. “Fair enough. Hi, Katsumi. What are you doing here?” Katsumi shrugs. “Aggressor duty against this dirty foreigner.” She says, while poking you in the ribs. She laughs. “It's not so bad, I asked for the job. ““And you brought Jessica?” Mav asks. “She's related to him, matrons thought it would be a good idea.” She says explaining it all over again. 2/3
>>29691646Nice to see that Frank subscribes to the 'Keep 'em guessing' school of intrigue.
“Hi Jessica.” Goose says, standing up. “Uh... is my sister-” Jessica shrugs. “I don't know.” She says, sounding human for a second. “I got detached then they said I was on temporary duty with the IJN under Katsumi then wait no we're completely detached on witch business then it's something else cos I guess the castle belongs to the Royal airforce but I'm not really sure but she said she'd come if she could and they'd need someone to keep track of me but Katsumi does that really well and she likes frank so-” Out of the corner of your eye, you see Katsumi frown, and both Slider and Katya shoot a look at her. You're not too sure you're going to want to be around for that conversation. “- and anyway she sent some things for you they're up in my room we can go get them if you want to.” You sister finishes, panting for a second to catch her breath. “You know,” You say drily. “If you talked like a normal human that wouldn't happen.”“Well, if you want, I'll take Frank and the kids.” Mav says, addressing the other witches. “Goose and I were about to head up on a flight, we can take him back to the hangar and hand him off to merlin if you three want to go catch up.”Slider speaks up for them. “We were thinking about getting chow, actually.” She says. “Maybe we could let Frank pick?” “Yeah, cos his choices are always so good.” Mav responds. You scowl at her. [] Yeah, I'll head down to the hangar with you three. [] Eh, I'll go for food.

[x] Eh, I'll go for food. While you'd like to get down and take a look at the jet- not to mention talk to Mav and Goose, both of whom you seem to keep missing, you're stomach picks that instant to emit a gurgling whine, reminding you that, while you may be hotshot superpilot, you are still human, and right now you need food. “I'm going to go get chow too, I think.” You say. “Next time, you still owe me a dogfight.”“Wh- Oh. Virginia beach?” She asks, frowning. You shake your head. “California.”You see Katya turn to look at you out of the corner of your eye- you can't quite place the look she's giving you though. “Oh- that.” Mav says. “Yeah, I guess I do, if you're still up for it.” You snort. “Anytime you're ready, 'darlin.” You drawl with a grin. You two may not be as close as you once were, but she's still your friend. “Except this time I'm bringing my good jet.”She shakes her head. “Equipment still can't make up for poor technique.” She says, smiling. “And we both know who's better.” You laugh. “Yeah, right. You keep telling yourself that, then when your hyperventilating and you can't remember which way is up, you call me and tell me who's better.”She waves that one off, headed back into the castle to change before taking off. Jessica waffles for a moment, then elects to follow along, leaving the four of you alone to head back into the castle. 1/2
The kitchen apparently has moved around a bit in the place's life, but it's downstairs, near the common room. You're not sure what it's officially called, back in the castle's early days it would have been the great room or great hall or something- you're also not too up on castle architecture. You've taken to calling it the lounge- there's no bar, but there's a piano up along one corner, and while the sole TV is ancient and probably puts out about the same amount of radiation as staring into a nuclear reactor, it's the only one in the castle. The room is a fairly popular place, all told, though you tend to avoid it, feeling something like a hamburger dropped into a shark tank when you're in there. The kitchen is, surprisingly, empty, though it probably won't remain that way for long. The place isn't designed to feed a lot of people at once, instead being set up like a conventional residential kitchen- you could make a meal for a large number of people, but the place has allowed most of it's residents to keep their own schedule for however many years, and there's been no change of that. 2/3 (cut the post wrong, sorry)
You're last in line, but that hardly matters- you cut a big slice off of a piece of roast beef- you're not sure who cooked it, but leftovers are fair game by anyone's standard. The bread is homemade, requiring you to cut off a pair of slices for a sandwich- then having to cut another half dozen slices for the three witches with you. The kitchen lacks a table, so the four of you carry your plates into the dining hall, where the table sits, empty. That, you think, is unusual, though not enough to warrant comment. “So, Katsumi.” Slider says, halfway through the otherwise quiet meal. “She's reading things wrong.” Katsumi says. “Is she, now?” Slider responds, elbowing Katya, who's sitting next to her. Katya grins. “My interest is purely professional.” Katsumi insists. “Like any of the matrons here.” “I do not know about that.” Katya says, almost disinterestedly. “Some of them look at him like...” She trails off and shakes her head. “Though I doubt they will have much luck.”The three of them look at you. You look at your sandwich. It really is a good sandwich.
>>29694358If only we could whistle innocently and eat at the same time.
>>29694358This will end badly.
>>29694358>“Some of them look at him like...” She trails off and shakes her head. “Though I doubt they will have much luck.Oh good grief.

>>29694519avoiding it can be just as bad if not worse.
>>29694481Part of that has been work- long story short, they jacked with our scheduling during the holidays, and we're still not back to normal. The rest of the blame is on me, though, and I plan to address it. The problem has been setting up the notes for the run, and then turning around and doing the back work on stuff in case it comes up- I've been caught out on points before, and try not to anymore, resulting in a lot of superfluous notes that never get used. But, long story short, yeah. pacing has kind of dropped off, and I'm sorry about that.
