Twitter: https://twitter.com/MisterOberonPastebin (We have one now!): http://pastebin.com/n0Ma9jMbLast time, Luke and Richard went south! After meeting with Officer Jenny at the Goldenrod Stadium, our hero and his rival traveled to Route 34 in the hopes of expanding their teams and strengthening them in time for the tournament tomorrow! Richard went to the shoreline, while Luke explored the outskirts of Ilex Forest, where he caught a Pineco. He attempted to track a Drowzee into the forest, but was caught in its Hypnosis; Squirtle was able to save him from the Drowzee, but in his dreams he recalled the last conversation he ever had with his father. One about strength, and a mysterious Pokemon...Rules: Players vote on options presented to them, or cast their vote on a write-in option if none of the ones presented are satisfactory. The option with the most votes behind it wins and will be used, though this rule may be bent if the vote favors an option intended to harm the Quest in some way. Combat is handled by players selecting a move or strategy to use, and the results are calculated by me.
A sinking reddish sun bathes Route 34 in its waning light. Your legs ache and creak as you finish the long hike out of the Ilex Forest. You know it's only your imagination, but your belt feels heavier now with two more filled Pokeballs clipped to it. Pineco and Drowzee, two more powerful Pokemon to add to your team. The Junior Division doesn't sound quite so threatening anymore. It is rapidly approaching dusk, and the wild Pokemon are reacting accordingly. Pidgey are cooping up in their nests for the night, and Rattata are retreating beneath the safer canopies of the forest. You've been sleeping for a long time. You doubt Richard particularly cares what you've gotten up to, but Jenny's probably caught up by now, and wondering where you've gone. You should get back to them soon. And yet, your throwing arm itches. You haven't gotten in nearly enough training for your satisfaction. You wasted too much time sleeping. That insatiable urge to battle rises in your gut.>1.) I shouldn't keep them waiting. Go looking for Richard and Jenny.>2.) Battling Wild Pokemon's only worth so much. I should find a trainer to battle.>3.) I'm not ready for the tournament like this. Put everything into training! (Begins Training Skip.)>4.) I could use a sixth Pokemon, maybe even a seventh to swap in as needed, and I bet there are different kinds out this late in the day. (Keep looking for Wild Pokemon.)>5.) Go scavenging. People drop things out here all the time. (1d100)>6.) Do something else entirely.
>Explaining options 3 and 4 A Training Skip occurs when you decide to focus less on building your team and more on fighting as many battles as possible to level up. This is my attempt to cut down on long pointless grinds mid-quest, and the idea is that without player input, each Pokemon on your team will fight five battles against random wild Pokemon. At the end, each will be given all the Exp. they've earned, though if they've lost any battles they'll only get what they earned up to that point. The downside is you won't have any opportunity to catch any of these Pokemon. That's what option 4 is for, looking for Pokemon one at a time. It's slower, but you get the option to catch ones that grab your attention.[/spoiler]

>>29802787>>29802885Battling wild Pokemon is one thing. But a real trainer would provide the challenge that your team needs. With that in mind you decide to find one. Orienting yourself south you begin moving down the large hill rolling off from Goldenrod and into the valley, where fields of flowers and tall grass surround the paths. You're not alone though; someone's coming down the path. Someone on a motorcycle; a portly, bald man on an old chopper, his Pokeballs dangling from his jacket. You wave him down as he approaches, and the biker pulls off to the side, watching you curiously from behind his shades. "Eh, wha?" he mutters. "Whaddaya want, kid?"You show him your belt with a cocky grin. "You're a Pokemon trainer, right? Well, so am I."The biker nods sagely, and his big lips flex a smile of his own. "Okay-okay, I think I get it... you wanna battle?" He plucks a Great Ball off of his jacket and rolls it around the palm of his hand. "Let's see what you've got, kid! >>29803311>>29803401You back off from the biker to make room for your battle and take Drowzee's Pokeball out. "Okay," you announce. "Let's see if you were worth catching Drowzee!"You throw the ball out, and in a snap of hissing light comes the yellow trunked Pokemon. Drowzee bounces on its feet, crossing its arms and swaying back and forth hypnotically as it waits for its opponent. It trumpets a few taunts out of its nose as it waits. The Biker twists his neck, letting the joints pop as he sizes you both up. "I'm digging it, I'm digging it!" he declares. "I've got just the Pokemon to deal with you. I choose you, MURK--""Mankey!" The tiny fighting Monkey lands with a light patting sound on the floor, hopping back and forth as the scrapper throws withering glares at your Drowzee. The Biker does not seem pleased with this turn of events."Uh... whoops." A meaty finger rubs at his fatty cheek. "Wrong Pokeball, heh..."Well that certainly worked in your favor. Drowzee has quite the advantage over a fighting type. The Pokemon begin to circle each other, waiting for orders.>1.) Put it to sleep with Hypnosis>2.) Catch it off-guard with a Headbutt>3.) >>29803785>>29803830"Use Confusion, Drowzee." Your Pokemon doesn't seem to have a problem with that order, watching his tiny opponent smugly. He puts out a hand and begins to twirl it. Spinning purple waves crash down on Mankey's head, assaulting its mind with painful mental strikes. It chitters and shrieks, hopping from one foot to another as it dances away from the attack--to no avail. The Biker swipes his arm and cries, "C'mon, Mankey! Use Seismic Toss!""Mank!" The little devil's eyes narrow, and focus in on your Drowzee, who immediately takes a nervous step backwards. Mankey charges; Drowzee only has a second to scream before the little terror leaps up and over him, grabbing his trunk along the way. "MMMMMMANK--"Mankey flips, and sends Drowzee head over heels in an astonishing display of strength. "--KEY!" As Mankey's feet hit the ground it releases Drowzee, who goes hurdling straight past you and into a nearby tree. Face first.A smattering of falling leaves and berries pelt the poor Drowzee, who makes a nasally moan as he slides back down to the dirt. Man, that Mankey sure is str--Never mind. It's down for the count. Apparently that Confusion really WAS too much to handle. It just got an attack off before it fell. The biker grits his teeth. "Oooh, I'm such an idiot! How could I make such a rookie mistake? Come on back, Mankey!" He recalls his Pokeman and retrieves a Dusk Ball from his jacket this time. "Now let's try something a little more effective. Go, Murkrow!"A tiny black bird escapes the Dusk Ball. "Kr-Krooow!" It flaps up to a height just a bit above where you can reach. The Dark-type bird hovers around the battlefield, waiting for the next round to start as Drowzee staggers back to the field, holding its aching head. "Drowzee, Drow" it tells you. You assume it's some kind of apology."Heh, let's see you beat my Murkrow with that Drowzee," the biker taunts.>1.) Nah. Swap Drowzee out.>2.) Drowzee, use ____!>3.) Give Drowzee an item.

The biker squeals. "Pursuit!"The bird's eyes flash in an instant, and it dives down from the air. Shadows flare around its beak as it hits Drowzee like a bullet. Your Pokemon is unable to resist as a mad flurry of pecks, scratches, and smacks shred it. The red beam of light tags your shrieking Drowzee and drags him out of the fight, but the damage has been done. A scan of the ball with your Pokedex tells you that Drowzee is now in the red. Another hit like that and it would be done for. "Tch." You scowl as you place him back on your belt. "That was a dirty trick." But he'll pay for it."You're up next, Vulpix."The cheery fire fox leaps from her Pokeball and skips along the ground, yipping and barking at the Murkrow circling above. In a puff of black smoke it vanishes, and then another puff bursts just to the left of Vulpix. Claws dart out and scratch her side in an Astonish attack. But that was a mistake. Vulpix's Fire Spin explodes right in the Murkrow's face, a red tornado spitting off into the air. The bird charges, bringing razor-sharp feathers to bear against your Vulpix's swinging, hot tails. The attacks collide, and the force knocks them both back. But only Vulpix is still standing, panting but satisfied. Murkrow is no longer able to battle. Grumbling, your opponent calls him back, and pulls out his final Pokeball. "You're gonna regret that! I choose you, SANDSHREW!"The little digging Pokemon hits the ground rolling. "Shrewshrew!" A ground type, then. Its legs frantically dig at the dirt around it, a nervous tic when it's not attacking. "I choose you, SQUIRTLE!"Your starter Pokemon spins out from his shell, already chattering and making mean threats to your opponent as his legs hit the dirt. Squirtle smiles maliciously. "Squirt Squirt, Squirtle!""S-Sand?" peeps his opponent, curiously. But the biker refuses any line of dialogue in the middle of a battle. "Sandshrew, use Magnitude!" His Pokemon shivers in surprise at his voice, giving a tiny salute before doing as told. It stomps the ground, letting the ground quake and tear itself asunder from the force of its Magnitude attack. Several rocks are spat out from beneath Squirtle and pelt his tough shell. Your companion staggers back, hurt but most definitely not down for the count just yet. Your mind races, considering your options. A water-type attack would do the most damage, but how effective will it be as long as Vulpix's Drought effect is active...?Squirtle doesn't seem very patient, tugging at your pants leg and demanding an order to carry out. >>29807295>>29807353>>29807421A water attack would be the most effective, you decide. Even under this sun, it's Squirtle's strongest weapon. "Use Bubble," you tell him. That's all he needs to hear, and with crazed eyes Squirtle leaps back into the fray. His lets his jaw fall open, and a white torrent of foam and bubbles spews forth into the air. A jet of the stuff launches at the Sandshrew, who spins in place and kicks out a Swift attack. A flurry of stars strike the bubble jet.The colliding forces meet with explosive force, and a shockwave forces the tiny combatants back several feet. But neither is getting away unscathed; it is the nature of Swift to always strike the enemy, without exception. Three stars that had spun away from the explosion come from above and hit Squirtle directly at the top of his skull. He yelps in pain and rubs the afflicted, tender area. Sandshrew was not as lucky, and is blown away by a much stronger attack. Bowled over once, then rolling three times more, it halts on its stomach and squeals in discomfort. Both fighters stand back up, meeting each other's gaze determinedly. >>29807946>>29807998Squirtle doesn't even need to hear your orders. It already knows that it has won this battle. All it has to do is keep up the bubbles. You suppose you're grateful that it's taken such a preference for the move. You remember back when you first began journeying with him Squirtle preferred to bite everything. That wasn't very comfortable to watch. It spits out a torrent of Bubbles to engulf the Sandshrew. But Sandshrew moves first. A Magnitude shakes the earth, and a protruding rock smacks your Pokemon in the gut. He's catapulted into the air, screaming and shaking limbs in a mad frenzy. But Sandshrew isn't done. Shrugging off the Bubbles, it spins into a Rollout and takes to the sky. Squirtle sees it coming. The impact at this speed would be devastating; but he has a counter. Another Bubble attack, thousands of them blasting the surface of Sandshrew's skin, filling the air with heated air and steam. Every instant the shrew gets closer, closer, closer... but just inches away, the Bubbles stop it in its tracks. "Shrew?!""SQUIRT!" He takes a deep breath. A final Bubble attack, with all the force he can muster. Sandshrew goes careening to the ground, and dirt is kicked up on every side from the impact. You hesitate, and wait for its counter attack, but it never comes. Sandshrew was out the second it hit the ground."D'oh!" The biker smacks himself in the face with his big, flat hand, and calls back his Pokemon in disgrace. You, in contrast, get a big hug as your Squirtle cheers and leaps into your arms."Haha, great job Squirtle!"Your foe shakes his head in regret. "I've been in the Goldenrod Tournament seven years running... but I always lose in the first round!"The transaction after the battle is short. The biker swipes a card in front of your own, and a monetary transaction occurs as is standard League procedure. You received 800 Pokedollars for your victory here. Your Pokemon grew as well.
Your Pokedex alerts you that Drowzee has grown to level 21, and Vulpix to level 20! Both of these Pokemon would like to learn a move. Vulpix has the opportunity to learn Feint Attack, a Dark-type move; and Drowzee can learn Meditate-- you remember the boost this Psychic move gave to Daria's Hitmonlee. Or Richards. Unsure of where to begin, you set out back in the direction of Goldenrod. Maybe they'd be that way. The journey back is quite pleasant; the temperature is reasonable here at this time of year, and you've certainly got a picturesque view of the bay off west of you. Distant flocks of Wingull skim the waters as boats from Olivine pass by on the way out to the ocean. You're so focused on the sight that you barely notice the campfire down on the beach. Two human figures are hunched around it along with several more figures. Their Pokemon, you'd guess. On a hunch you approach them. Once you've come within a few dozen meters one of the Pokemon, an Ursaring, notices your approach and points you out.Richard and Jenny turn to look at you, and wave. "Luke!" Jenny calls out, patting the sand beside you. "We're having a picnic, come, sit!" Having been beckoned, you pick up the pace and join them beside the fire. You're handed a hock of meat, and Jenny orders you to chow down. "It's so good to see you!" she exclaims. "We spent hours looking for you, but you weren't anywhere to be found from here to Ilex Forest.""We thought you'd gone home," adds Rich, munching on a Skorupi kebab. Somehow you doubt he looked particularly hard. You're surrounded by a menagerie of Pokemon playing with one another. You recognize Richard's Ivysaur beside him, basking in the sun's rays to get its nutrients, and his Pidgeotto is roosted on Teddi-Bear's shoulder, napping. But there are others you haven't seen before. Off by the water, there's an Aipom being chased around in circles by a belligerent-looking Krabby, and Jenny's Growlithe is darting in and out of their little game. And flopping by the fire haphazardly is a... Magikarp.

>>29810263>>29810182>>29810079Well, it'd be cruel to keep your team cooped up while everyone else enjoys the outdoors. One by one you release your Pokemon, and they go off to enjoy themselves. Gastly comes first, who gives you a farewell lick before making a beeline for Pidgeotto, happily snoozing and unaware of incoming torment. Vulpix doesn't have anywhere she wishes to go, but with a nudge you convince her to go down and play with the other Pokemon by the shore. She tackles the Growlithe, and the two of them run off chasing one another up and down the beach. Squirtle comes next. You're not looking forward to this part.It only takes your starter a brief instant to hone in on the Ivysaur beside Richard. The grass Pokemon takes note of Squirtle as well, and stands up, snarling. They charge one another and butt heads, pushing back at each other with all their might. Squirtle and Ivysaur have been competing since the day you both left Pallet Town. Richard's companion won their last battle, and that's an insult you know your little guy can't bear. He probably can't wait for the chance to trounce him in the tourney. Then the newcomers. You release Pineco, who looks around at the humans curiously. But then he spots the Magikarp. Bewilderingly intrigued, the bug hops closer and starts to poke at the fish with its horn, trying to get a rise out of it and figure out what it is.And then your fifth. Drowzee. You figure you should preface his arrival. You offer up an apologetic smile to Jenny. "I'm really sorry for making you both worry," you entreat, but she waves you off with a smile and a "Don't sweat it." Not a lot of attention is going his way, but you're pretty sure you can see Dick gagging at your transparent gestures.Proceeding on with the story, you recount how you tracked Drowzee into the forest, and was knocked out for several hours by his Hypnosis attack. Then you hold up his ball. "Caught the yellow smartass though."
You let him out and into the open; Drowzee stretches his arms, yawning loudly, and then he flinches as he notices the other humans around. He starts to sweat. Hm, does he not like being around people? Drowzee makes a few timid whimpers as Rich and Jenny observe him, the latter tilting her head in concern. "Oh, what's wrong with the poor fella? He seems scared.""Squirt?" The sounds of the Drowzee alert Squirtle, who breaks off his posturing with Ivysaur just long enough to look his way. Your Psychic-type meets his eyes long enough for the turtle to open his beak menacingly."Aa...bwuh...DROW-OW-OW-OW!!" Drowzee throws his hands up in the air and runs away, blubbering, as Squirtle gives chase, gleefully giggling himself."That's odd," Jenny comments. "Why's he so scared of your Squirtle, Luke?""Good question," says Richard. "Why would ANYONE be scared of that runt?"You glare at Dick. Now would be a good time to shut him up once and for all... but then again, it WOULD eat up time you could spend relaxing with your new friend. Your Pokemon would sure appreciate the break.>1.) Tilting your head back, you can see the stars coming out in the cloudless sky above. Constellations twinkle, and you can hear Jenny making an impressed "ooh" at the sight. Richard leans back to do the same, but his new Magikarp takes that as an invitation and flops right into the stomach, bowling him onto his back. There's a brief moment of silence. Then Jenny starts guffawing at the sight, and you join in; after a second of flustered glares, even Richard can't help but chuckle. The tournament isn't until tomorrow. You can put off any enmity until then. For now, you think, you'd rather just enjoy the moment...."Goodnight, Luke!""Night," you say, quietly waving to Officer Jenny as she walks off. It's been nighttime for quite a while now, and a full moon beams over Goldenrod City. The streets are quiet as trainers from all around the world rest for the upcoming tournament. It's getting to be time you did the same, so the three of you made your way back from the picnic down at the beach. Richard broke off some time ago, heading his own way back to his hotel. It's dark enough that Jenny was worried for your safety, so she walked you the rest of the way to the Sleeping Sunkern. Now that you've arrived safely, she leaves to get back to her home. The lights are still on in the lobby, and you see yourself in making as little noise as possible. The lobby is empty except for a nicely-dressed man reading a book in the corner. It's Mr. Benjamin, who diverts his attention from his stories long enough to greet you with a warm smile. From somewhere you below you hear distant, dull thuds that shake the floor beneath your feet.
"Ah, Mr. Bright," says Eindol, snapping his book shut.. "A pleasure to have you back under our roof. Your day was constructive, I hope?">1.) It was. How have you been, Eindol?>2.) >>29812072>>29812109>>29812147"It was," you assure him, sitting down to rest your aching legs. "And how have you been, Eindol?""Oh, quite fine, quite--" He pauses, as another thump, louder than the others, intrudes on your conversation. That one almost sounded like an explosion. He takes a deep breath, closes his eyes, and regains his composure. "Quite fine. It's been a little hectic around here, but Lancelot and I are ready for the tournament to be sure.""Lancelot?""Oh, pardon. My Gallade.""Oh." You sit quietly for a while, trying to bear the noises from below. But you can't stand them for long. "Sorry, but... what the heck IS that?"Eindol groans; you guess he's been trying to ignore it too. "That... would be Daria.""Daria? What's she doing down there?" You lift your feet off the ground in reaction to the newest tremors."Training, I think. She's always seemed to prefer to do things... hands-on, but this is a little more extreme than I thought she would take it. If you'd like to go down and watch, be my guest. But watch out for collateral damage."Daria's training down there, then? But you've never heard of a Pokemon battle making so much noise. What exactly is she doing?>1.) Go downstairs and watch.>2.) Ask where a patron besides Daria is.>3.) Go to bed.>4.) Do something else.

>>29812805>>29812802>>29812828>>29813038You decide to hold off on learning what the warzone downstairs is all about, and instead ask Eindol if he's seen Mote about. To your surprise, he shakes his head. "No, I haven't, actually. She left shortly after dinner, but she didn't say where she was going. I'm afraid I haven't seen her since."A shame. You were hoping to talk to her about your match tomorrow. You didn't even think her to be a trainer at first sight, so the least you could have done was wish her luck. But if she's gone off somewhere, it's quite possibly to train. And honestly, you feel the urge to do the same. Squirtle's been on the cusp of evolution for a while now, and you think it's time you put him over the edge. You tell Eindol of your intentions, and to your surprise he stands up, prepared to follow you. "You won't get much anywhere battling against yourself, after all. But if I commanded one of your Pokemon in a mock battle, you'd be getting training in for both, wouldn't you?"You see no reason to disagree with his logic; it would definitely be hard finding an opponent this late in the middle of a city. Most people probably want to conserve their strength for the time being. Together, the both of you make the trek downstairs to the Battle Room. The whole way down is treacherous and frightening, the walls to your sides and the lamps above shaking violently with each passing tremor. Though the most frightening image only comes when you reach the bottom. You suddenly realize that Daria's Pokemon haven't been training with each other. They've been training with her.The Battle Room is in shambles; several lights overlooking the battlefield have been destroyed. Craters and scorch marks pock the floors. Scattered around lie three unconscious Pokemon. Propped against the wall is a bent and bruised Staryu, the gem in its center rapidly flashing to display its critical condition.
On the opposite side of the room, a quivering Charmeleon holds its stomach, coughing in pain every once in a while as it waits out the beating it just received. Jet, Daria's Hitmonlee, is flat on its face in a spot not far from where you're standing. The marks on its back suggest it took three solid punches before it went down. And in the center of the scene is Daria herself, on the receiving end of a Rollout attack from a massive Graveler. And taking it. Her upheld leg is pressed firmly against the tumbling Rock Pokemon, the sole of her boot scorching and burning from the intense friction as the force pushes her back inch by inch. Her body is covered head-to-toe in sweat, and she's stripped down to shorts and a white tank top that's been torn to hell and back. Nasty bruises and scuffs run all along her exposed skin, and a nasty gash in her leg looks like it's been on the receiving end of poison-type attack. But even after all that punishment, she's grinning like a maniac. The Graveler is pushing with all its might, but it can barely push her back. And slowly but surely, it runs out of momentum, and grins to a halt after wearing a three-inch trench in the floor he'd been stopped at. Daria raises her fist above her Pokemon, and screams at the top of her lungs, bringing down a well-placed punch. The Graveler flops to the ground, unconscious. Daria thrusts her fists into the air and roars in triumph, sounding like some kind of ferocious beast more than the girl you grew up down the street from. Her arms lower, and she finally takes a second to breathe, her chest rising and falling in massive, overdone motions. The bloodied girl looks over and sees you and Eindol watching her.
She smiles like nothing at all is wrong with what you're seeing. "Oh, hey guys! Sorry if I'm in your way, heh, I'll be wrapped up in just a second!" She runs her forearm across her face to rub off some of the sweat she's built up, and walks over to the side of the chalk lines bordering the field. You can see a heavy limp in her gait, favoring the leg that's oozing a purple liquid from the wound. She picks up a towel off the bench and wipes down her head, then picks up her team's Pokeballs and calls them all back. "Great workout today, guys. One of these days, you're even gonna beat me!" She laughs. Eindol frowns in terror. Daria gathers up her belongings in a gym bag and throws them over her shoulder, casually limping up to the stairs and passing by with a recklessly happy expression."Field's all yours, guys! See ya at the tournament tomorrow!"And like a hurricane passing from the town it's just eviscerated, Daria ascends the stairs, leaving the two of you alone. You hear Mr. Benjamin quietly swear to himself. "There's no way that's a human."It's hard to really follow up a performance like that, so you and he quietly head out to the field. Or rather, the half that hasn't been filled with craters and explosive residue. You explain to Eindol that you intend to evolve your Squirtle, and he nods in agreement. "I can help with that. Which of your Pokemon do you wish Squirtle to battle?">1.) Vulpix.>2.) Pineco.>3.) Drowzee.>4.) Gastly.

He turns his back to you and walks to the other side of the arena. "This will be a no-bars match. Squirtle and Pineco will fight until one is unable to battle. Are we clear on these rules?"You agree that you are. "Good!" your acquaintance exclaims. "Then let's start."He spins your Pokeball up into the air, plenty of room to maneuver in the high ceilings of this place. Pineco comes crashing down to the floor, a little confused that you're his opponent but bouncing about giddily all the same. You perform a similar motion and unleash Squirtle, who flexes his muscles for the nonexistant audience.Your Pokemon commence battle.>1.) Squirtle, use ____!

"Tail Whip!""Take Down!"Pineco gets the initiative, launching its springy body straight into Squirtle's undershell. Its spike scrapes against the weaker portion of the armor, and Squirtle is shoved back several feet from the force. But Squirtle flips forward and smacks the bug away with his tail, befuddling Pineco and lowering its defense. They hop away from one another to await new orders.>1.) Now use ____!

>>29814186>>29814224>>29814274You call out and demand a Bite attack; Squirtle is more than happy to oblige. Pineco prepares for another attack, but the turtle's sharp beak rips into its tough shell, and it flinches from the impact. Squirtle seizes the opportunity and begins biting rapidly and without aim all over the Bug Pokemon's body. But Eindol remains cool and composed."Pineco: Bug Bite."Your opponent's eyes sharpen, and a quick twist of its body shakes off Squirtle. Dizzy, the water Pokemon staggers around for a second; that's long enough for Pineco to close the gap between them and get a spinning strike in right at the gap in its shell. A critical hit sends Squirtle rolling across the floor, yelping and squealing in pain.He scrambles back your side, scratched up and angry, but not out just yet. Pineco does the same with Eindol, and appears to be in similar condition.>1.) Next, use ____.

>>29814675>>29814687>>29814708"Bubble!"Squirtle leans back and then lurches forward, letting out a wave of rapid-moving bubbles. Eindol points out the attack. "Stop that with Protect, Pineco!""Pine-P-PIIIINE!" The Bagworm Pokemon spins, a large hexagonal wall spinning around with it. The bubbles crash into the shield and detonate harmlessly against it. Squirtle snarls at the bug, furious that it dared to do such a thing. It sets up for another Bubble, but Pineco rockets forward and smacks against his shell again.A second critical hit. Squirtle's eyes go blank, and you can see his shell crack from the impact. "Sq-Squirtle..?!" It skids along the ground for some ways, then halts at your feet."Squirtle," you whisper in shock. Eindol calls from across the battlefield."That was a powerful blow. Maybe we should stop--""SQUIRTLE!" A fresh stream of Bubbles impacts Pineco and sends him tumbling along the ground. Squirtle struggles to his feet, one eye taut and shut, the other staring daggers at his opponent. "Squirtle, Squirt Squirt, SQUIRTLE!" he declares. He won't go down that easy, no matter the circumstances.>1.) Great job, Squirtle! Use ____.

>>29815554>>29815479>>29815328Squirtle's eyes hold something new. A light blue glow is permeating his sclerae, and there is a fluidity in the way he stands back up to approach his enemy. Eindol seems to recognize it by the way he looks at your Pokemon. "I see... so this is Squirtle's Torrent ability? I'd like to test just how powerful it is. Pineco, one more Bug Bite."Pineco cheeps and hops from place to place, readying for one final charge. Squirtle crosses his arms and stands tall, waiting for it to come. His opponent tenses up, shrinks... and then his muscles release, and Pineco screams across the battlefield."Hmph. Squirt.""Now, Bubble!""SQUIIIIIIIRTLE!" He leaps backwards, and bubbles fill the gap between the two Pokemon. They collide, bright light and smoke filling the air so completely you have to look away or else be blinded."It's done," Eindol declares. His arms are crossed as well, observing the scene with a patient expression. You struggle to make out any shapes in the smoke, but soon it becomes clear. The victor of the battle is standing over Pineco's unconscious body in a triumphant pose. But it is no longer Squirtle.Your Pokemon looks at you with a cocky grin, and gives you the closest approximation of a thumbs-up it can. "War-Wartortle!" Your mouth drops agape and immediately tugs into a smile. Your Squirtle has evolved into Wartortle. You and Eindol hold out your Pokeballs, calling both Pokemon back. You heft them in your hands, laughing in surprise and satisfaction at once. "You did great, Wartortle. And you too, Pineco!" Mr. Benjamin clasps a hand over your shoulder. "You're now the proud owner of a Wartortle, Mr. Bright. Do you think you're ready for the tournament now?">1.) I believe I am. Thank you.>2.) With Wartortle by my side, there's no way I can lose.>3.) "Ha, it was no trouble, Luke. I just can't pass up the opportunity to see trainers take those first steps to greatness."You step back and ask, "Do you think I stand a chance, then?""I have the utmost confidence," he assures you. "Just you wait. You'll see that I'm never wrong about these things. There's greatness waiting in your future..."...She sits on a rooftop. The city is dark, and all are slumbering as they await the coming dawn, and with it the arrival of the tournament. She has joined in the festivities, though she knows not why. The girl's hands trace along her bare legs, letting the cool twilight wind brush across them. Cars drive along the city streets thirty stories below her. Not many, though; it's as quiet as the city can be, so she took the opportunity for some solitude. Her fingers twist and coil around her blue hair, forming crimps and curls and letting them bounce back to their normal shape as her fingers move away. It's a nervous tic she picked up from her mother. The motion soothes her on most nights, but not tonight. They're looking for her; and tomorrow they'll find her, she's certain. She retrieves an item from her back. A Pokeball, every inch a shiny red, and trimmed with black. Her forefinger slides across its surface, and she smiles at the Pokemon within."Don't worry. I won't let them take you. No one's ever hurting you again."
And that's where I'll be stopping for the night! Thanks again to you all for playing, and I hope you've enjoyed doing so.
