You are Miranda Rook, mathematician, finance wiz, and lonely woman in London. You're trying to break in to the mercenary business. But right now, you're trying your best to find your boss, Mr. Low.

Andy called you up to say he had spotted Mr. Low's car parked in front of a tenement in Catford. The vehicle in question was a gaudy luxury sedan that Low probably loved more than his children, so it'd be easy to spot. Especially in light of Catford's condition. Your cabbie had asked twice if you were sure you wanted to go there. Apparently, it'd been hit hard in the economic downturn.

The cabby drops you off at Catford's famous cat statue. Andy had been irritatingly vague about where the tenement in question was, but he'd mentioned the statue. So you'll start from there. The thing looks eerie to you. The original sculptor had probably intended the thing to look playful and coy, but in your eyes it looked more malicious. Erosion and poor maintenance had conspired to make its eyes just a touch larger, the mouth a touch wider than was comfortable in your eyes.

Catford isn't a slum, but it's seen better days. Pretty looking place, if you can look past the graffiti and litter. Track suits and tank tops as far as the eye can see- there are some cute little shops, but a distressing amount of them have signs announcing going out of business sales or grief filled good byes. Economic downturns always hit the independent stores the hardest.

You feel a worrying sense that you're not welcome as you walk in to town. You try to tamp down the paranoia, but something about this neighborhood makes it really clear that you're far from home. You kind of wish you were at home working on your model again.

Before you can convince yourself to go back home and curl around a bucket of ice cream, you see Mr. Low's car. Parked in front of something that looked the very model of a crack house.

Well. That looks like a lovely place to get gently used needles half off, but right now you don't feel like having a brush with syphilis. Where's Andy? You sigh, adjust your bag over your shoulder keeping it in a death grip, and dial Andy. Rings once, twice...

Somebody's grabbing your laptop bag. Short fellow, as short as you, but a lot stronger. Unibrow, dark inset eyes, shaved head, and ears like cauliflower. He does it very casually too, just walking at a brisk pace, grabbing the loop of you bag, and yanking hard enough to nearly pull you off your feet. Good thing you had your hand on it.

You stumble, and of course, just then, Andy picks up.

"Hey Miranda, kinda busy-"
"Let go," The man gives another vicious yank, turning towards you. Wearing a wife beater. Needle tracks down both arms. You're in a bit of a panic.

"Andy! I'm being robbed!"
"What?" Andy is baffled. Well, to be fair, what could he do about it? You start screaming bloody murder.

Really, in retrospect, keeping your phone glued to your ear was probably not the best idea. Shorty narrows his eyes, gives another yank with a snarl. Bold, doing it in broad daylight. You can see a few people are gathering, but keeping a distance. The mugger sees the same thing, little beady eyes glancing around. He returns his attention to you, eyes narrowed in annoyance.
"You deaf? Let go."
"Police! Polizei! Gendarme!"

"Sod this," He keeps one hand on your laptop strap- you realize he's trying not to break it, belatedly, that's why you're not sprawled on the pavement- and the other dives in to his baggy pants to pull out a kitchen knife. A god damn kitchen knife. Not even one of those watermelon knives, big and nasty, just a little steak knife, "Give me the fucking bag!"

Great. Great place Catford. Still, you've got a crowd watching. The police have to be on their way. London's not that big.

>Hang on to it. He's bluffing.

Damn, these heels suck. He yanks again, and this time it falls out of your grasp. And the god damn strap tears. Fuck! You end up eating concrete, but he stumbles back in to the fence just as well. There's a small ditch of what might have once been grass but is mostly mud now, which proves unsteady ground for him. Aaaand your phone ended up in there. Crap. He tries to get himself righted, and turns to run off. Past you.

Your shoes suck. But the toe is perfectly pointed. You swing your foot in his path perfectly. Judging from the strangled gasp cry he made, your aim was true.

He curls in on himself, and suddenly where there once was a tough thug there's a crumpled snarling mess sprawling across the sidewalk. Someone gives an appreciative 'You go girl' from the sidelines. Prick. You stand up. God, your nylon on the left is torn. Skinhead starts scrambling up, trying to simultaneously cover his aching genitals and getting all limbs under him. You give him a kick to the ribs and shove him out of the way of your precious laptop.

Great. Your bag's strap has been broken. Your mugger climbs the fence one armed, one hand still on his family jewels. Guess you kicked him real hard there. No matter. With his feet under him, he gets a knife pointed at you.

"You, you fucking, I'll-" He looks up, makes a face. You hear people shouting down the street, a block away. He starts turning, spitting curses, "Lucky. Fucking bitch- you watch your-"

Clearly he's going to run off. You still have adrenaline pumping in you. You really going to let this guy off that easy? Who knows if the cops will catch him?

And who knows if you'll get stabbed either.

You ignore his boasts. You hear his footsteps retreating, know there isn't much more point to paying attention to him. You grab your phone, shake off the mud- still works. Hooray for cases. Your laptop! Is it safe? well, it wasn't on- you open the laptop bag, and take a look at it. Looks fine from here, but opening the laptop and that's a crack in the screen. Fuck. Hope the components are working. Solid state drive should have the info and that-
"Ma'am?"

You probably should have noticed the flashing lights earlier. A cop car, and an officer had manifested recently. A policeman with a chin that seems to have been misplaced is standing over you, a look of concern on his face.
"Are you alright?"
"Alright? I nearly got mugged in broad daylight!" You wave your hands at the crowd, "And they just stood and watched!"
"Seemed like you handled it pretty well," Someone out there says. Same prick from before.

"Look, I'm sorry you're upset ma'am, and I can entirely sympa-"
"Oh shut up," You murmur darkly, shutting your laptop with a bit of irritation, "I'm fine. Description, right? Short as I am, neanderthal brow, skin head, baggy pants, wife beater, white, can't remember much beyond that. Can I go know?"

"Wait, wait," The officer starts digging in his pocket for a notepad, "Sorry, I gotta write this down-"

You cast an eye out around the street. No familiar faces. A few people step out of the tenement. None of them look like Low. Dark faced men dressed in sweaters and parkas. They look suspicious, hands in pockets. No sign of Andy either.

"Right, right, thank you ma'am, uh, do you need to go to hosp-" It's a skinned knee, you explain in irritation. In truth, on the inside you're rather shocked at your cool that you're handling this. You're sure back at home you'll collapse. For now, you feel...Disassociated. Remarkably specific plan that the mugger had, actually.

Plan.

"Miranda? Hey, what was that about-"
"Fuck Catford. You can find Low," You wave away the worried police officer at your elbow, "Survived a mugging, no thanks to you."
"Wait, what-"
"Find Low, call me when you do, okay?" You dismiss the call with a hard jerk of your thumb. Okay, you're a little rattled.

The chinless wonder continues to worry about you, but eventually you manage to extricate yourself from his field of view and the crowd of gawkers and call a cab. You didn't like being outside, and there was a good reason for this. You do perform a minor detour to pick up some cookie dough flavored ice cream.

Back at the hotel, your model awaits. You boot up your laptop. Screen's practically unreadable, but at least it seems to be working. It boots up to a fractured view of your barren desktop. You've got a few hours until you have to pick up dresses that will probably not fit on you anyway and will look ridiculous and god your knee hurts like shit, fuck.
>>
Another shower, a cup of coffee, and a few moments of frustration with the plastic ring on the carton of ice cream, and you're back to your normal self. Hiding from the world and doodling equations. Food prices, stability, arms purchases- you try your best to find variables that don't rely upon historical facts since that seemed too inflexible, but the problem is is that the theory crafting in your head isn't explaining Algeria, the Singapore Crisis, or the recent Mongolian spats. At least with your recent look in to things. The human factors were all too nebulous. Not a fan. That's what Dr. Cardwell was in charge of.

Just when you're getting in the groove though, phone call. Fuck's sake. Andy. And your phone is still dirty. Forgot to clean it. Oh well, you answer it.

"You find him?"
"Well, no. He actually called me."
Oh, "He give a reason for disappearing?"
"He didn't say. He's more concerned about meeting RBS, tells me he wants me to play point. Wants me to meet up with him. Apparently I impressed him-" Stupid Andy.
"Do you know where he is?"
"Well, yeah, he said he was over at the Shard right now, he was meeting some-"

>"Are you sure it was him?"
>"Great. Meet you there."
>"That's all? Christ. Well, chew his ass out for me, I've got dresses to pick up."

we don't know whats happening with the company, first the CFO(? i think it was) got arrested and Low bailed on us right before a meeting, then he never returned and wouldnt answer his phone, then we found that his hotel room was broken into and trashed and ours was broken into and Andy's laptop taken, but we somehow suspiciously got it back and then Andy found his very expensive car in a very shady part of town

we've no idea whats going on and its making us paranoid and concerned about the company
>>
>>29917326
I think maybe we should consider abandoning ship and switching all our efforts to the mercenary biz. But not for sure until we know more. Maybe turn on the hotel TV to CNN or Sky's business channel? They live to break shit like "Chief Financial Officer arrested!"
>>
We should totally sell our shares while they are worth something
>>
>>29917372
we have considered it, but we're bidding out time, hoping the company can recover and we want to keep the merc business as a hobby, with Miranda's skills, she could very likely get another job at another financial company, it would only take time

>>29917424
IIRC we set up a series of trades that would get us some more money, but its sunday, and the markets are closed until monday
>>
"And the car?"
"He said it was stolen."
"Right," Weird no mention of that. You check the news on your laptop again, wait for it to load, "And it WAS him, right?"
"Trust me it sounded like him."
"Okay. Keep me posted. Things are weird at Frontier right now, and I don't want to be blindsided."
"Sure, sure, whatever Miranda. I wouldn't worry so much."
"I would."

The call ends. No, still no news about Deacon being arrested. In fact, Frontier was picked as 'top buy' on a trades site. Something was going.

Shit, no time to worry about that though. Dresses needed picking up. After properly cleaning and looking a somewhat better class of vagrant, you head out. A great big suite of white awaits you. And yes, the dresses fit- a little tight in some areas, but you look professional. Sleek. Predatorial. You're a little taken aback by it. A lot of hard lines, sharp shoulders, buttoned down fronts fortified like a castle's gates, the closest thing to soft was a rare bit of fur lining. And a lot of it white.

You're in a vest, shirt, pencil skirt combo all pale white looking at yourself in the mirror. Makes your blotches and blemishes on your skin really stand out. Wish you had pure black hair. Crap, you've got some split ends. You turn around, looking at yourself from all angles. You begrudgingly admit you look good. Like the cover of a fashion magazine. But you can't help but worry.

"This will stain so god damn easily," You murmur aloud carelessly.
"Good," The tailor appears at your shoulder, making you jump, "Be restrained. Careful. Upright. Steady with your hands. A careful woman draws respect."

Some well calculated bullshit she said there. You roll your eyes. Still. You look good.

The cost makes you cringe somewhat, but fuck, you're rich, right? What's a few thousand dollars between wardrobes?
>>
>>29917450
>IIRC we set up a series of trades that would get us some more money, but its sunday, and the markets are closed until monday

Didn't we do that with just the money we have or were the shares also used?
>>
After that, you're home with a taxi stuffed full of dress bags. Luggage. Another thing you've gotta get. Crap. Always something-

Speaking of something- your phone rings. It's Low.

"Hello, Mr. Low," You answer. Cool as a cucumber buried under a pile of plastic wrapped silk.
"Miranda, hi," Oily tone of voice matches, "Sorry. Sorry about that. Had a bit of a panic attack- don't worry, everything's fine."
"Yeah. Heard you had your car stolen? What happened there?"
"Oh, yeah. Left it unattended in the wrong part of town," He chuckles, "But don't worry about it! Got it taken care of."
"And your place was broken in to."
"I heard. Don't worry, I've been talking to the police a ton already."
"Yeah. So- Deacon, the CFO, is he arrested or not?"
"Apparently it was a mistake. I wouldn't worry about it."

Mr. Low seems a touch recalcitrant.

"Mr. Low-"
"Yeah, yeah, I know. I fucked up back there Miranda. I panicked, and ran out on you," He sounds exhausted now, "And for that, I'm real sorry. For making you, and Andy, and the rest worry. But don't worry about it. I wanted to make sure when you left London, you'd know things were fine. Everything is just fine."
"You don't think a break in and a car being stolen are something wrong?"
"It's London," He chuckles at that, "These kinds of things happen if you leave your keys in the ignition."

How do you forget your keys in the ignition?

"Yeah, uh, Miranda, thanks, anyway, just wanted to let you know that I'm okay, and I'm sorry for worrying you."
"No, no, I mean. It's entirely reasonable. Wow. Y'know, I was nearly mugged when trying to find you."
"Really? No kidding?" He doesn't sound very interested.
"Yeah. Was really bad. Y'know, we have something in common with that. Except I managed to not get my things stolen. But we're both victims of a crime! Oh, and my place was broken in to too. Whacky coincidences!"
"Did you already talk to the police?"
"No, no, hotel security handled it. Got me the laptop back right away. And I got bumped up to a better room!"
"Really."
"Hey, why don't we talk to the hotel together? You can get a better room, I'm pretty sure-"
"No, thank you. Have a good night Miranda."

And he's disconnected. Crap. You've never been good at this sort of thing. Handling conversations. Especially if you knew them like this. Fuuuck, that's going to make it awkward when you see him next. Oh well.

Back to math. You spend the next few hours until you fall unconscious working out the possibilities of a model.

Come Monday, you check the trades. No new messages from Deacon. Frontier is fine, stock wise. A slight bump back up in price. It's not climbing sky high like it used to, but it's not in a free fall. Which is nice. Your trades were advantageous. Things went well.

>>29918204
Call Andy, tell him that Low seemed fine.

I'm not entirely sure about the Low and Deacon situation, I agree with the earlier supposition that the company might be getting bought out or taken over.

Pull up a list of companies that would be in a clear position to gain from absorbing Frontier. Most likely a larger company. Probably a financial company, I can't see a company not somehow related to investments wanting it, one larger than Frontier and who stands to get a lot out of the model, or who would like to get control over the fields Frontier has investments in because they lack investments in that area themselves.

See how their stock prices are looking, if our model can get us anything interesting about them, that sort of thing.

while such a takeover would be chaotic and unsettling, for a time at least, I don't think it would be terribly bad for us, our model makes Frontier money, and without us, the model would not exist, and it would likely not continue to be a print money button, so they'd probably keep us on.

also, I knew we forgot to say something to Low, it didn't seem like that phone call was the appropriate time, but he agreed to give us a raise when he ran out on us at the meeting

>>
>>29918407
True, if we're going for a face to face meeting for that, we should look the part. The utter shock he'll feel from us being professional and not, well, us, ought to let us walk all over him.

Hopefully.
>>
>>29918428
We should stop trying to be nice too. If past interactions are taken into consideration, Miranda seems the type who does very well when being aggressive in her social encounters (when dealing with Kooji on the phone several times, when being mugged, etc)

As tempting as it was to stay in bed all day working on your facts and figures, you couldn't very well do that. So, first thing's first. Call up Ady.

"Andy, how's things?"
"Hung over," He bleats.
"Christ, are you ever not drinking here?"
"I had professional reasons for it," He whimpers, "It's important. Lubrication of finance. Heh. Liquid assets. Wait, no, liquidity-"
"Thank you, thank you Andy. So. Last night you were out drinking with, who, Low?"
"No, no, Carl and Eric," He groans, "God, it's too early in the morning for this."
"So, haven't seen Low yet?"
"Yeah, yeah, I saw him at the bar. Bought us a round or two. Or four. God. Mixed drinks are the WORST, can hardly remember last night."
"Great, okay. So, he okay?"
"Fine," Andy snaps, "Though he wants to know where my laptop is."
"Oh yeah, in my room. Sorry. I'll drop it off tonight."
"LATE tonight, please. Meeting's Wednesday. I need to, uh, charge up for it."
"Whatever you say Andy. Thanks."

End call. Next, you scootch over to your laptop. Frown at the screen. Hm, maybe you could- you eye Andy's laptop, but decide against messing with it. You can fix the screen later. It's a pain in the ass to scroll around the cracks, but you do your research anyway.

Bernard and Callum Associates is what comes up here again and agai. Maybe that's all it was, you wonder mutely. Something to do with them taking over. It was no secret that your CEO, Matthew Herzl was fiercely proud of Frontier's independence. But, Frontier's model was very valuable. And who knows, maybe it was just a show. A company takeover. Hm. You could see that, wouldn't explain the Deacon and Low situation though. Low going missing was eerie. And Deacon-

Actually, wait. Bernard and Callum's stock prices were dropping hard. That's weird. In the news, it showed they were burned off a bad bet that oil prices would continue to rise- OPEC increasing production killed that hope. Still. Pretty hard drop.
>>
Plenty of finance companies would be interested in Frontier, but aside from Bernard and Callum, and RBS, none really dealt with you at the moment. All way over your head. You just make the numbers dance, you don't handle the talking.

You grab the phone, text Deacon again. He needed to send some kind of reply, god damn it. After that, you go over what little you can of Peregrine Immediate and Koojimans's records. Peregrine Immediate had done good work across hot spots around the world. Lot of dynamic, fast work. They weren't fans of playing guards for convoys then, usually assisting in search and destroy missions, hostage rescues, pirate hunts, that kind of stuff. Koojiman preferred to be on the offense then, you gather.

For Koojiman though, aside from being involved in a Dutch/Italian brawl in Afghanistan, not much. Nothing really big mentioning his name. Served in Regiment Huzaren Prins van Oranje.

Probably not worth speculating too much. It might backfire on you otherwise. Oh. One other thing.

You give Mr. Low a call.

"Hey, how's my favorite quant doing?" His voice doesn't have the same enthusiasm. Picked up on the second ring.

"Hi, Mr. Low, just wanted to get something out of the way before we forget- you mentioned the other day about me getting a raise?"
"I, I did? Hah, oh, shit. I really can't recall."
"You did. Right before you bugged out."
"Oh," He sighs, "Miranda, I'm sorry, I wasn't really in the right state of mind that minute, I was scared witless- look, we can talk about it when we get home, alright? Soon as we get back, we can have a meet and greet over this, touch base with everyone, make sure this gets handled pronto, right?"

Well. He had a point. He'd need to send it up the chain. Still, something smells to you.

>"Let's meet in person."
>"I'll be generous, and assume you're rattled. Don't forget."
>"Really? Well, that's a shame. Hey, can I put you down as a reference, or will I just have to let my PHD and model speak for me?"

>>
>>29918751
We're taking the offensive. Fortunately Low won't be at his best, it's reasonably early in the morning, he was at the hotel bar last night, and his kinda submissive quant is talking back to him and we're about to show up in a white suit instead of baggy and disheveled clothes.

We act as if we're in a position of power, and if we fake it hard enough Low will believe it.

If things wander around to what he's been up to then we say little, we imply that we know more than we do and honestly, he might believe it. He knows we're smart as fuck, but he doesn't really understand what we do and what we can do with it, so with our current behavior he might simply accept that we know more than we actually do.

If he brings up how they don't need us enough to bow to our demands and points out that they still have the model we laugh and say that the traders don't understand how it actually works and it'll fall apart on them.

If he tries to divert us by saying he'll bring it up with the higher-ups we tell him that we will not accept that, we are getting a raise.

Don't let him get his bearings or establish any measure of control. We're an untouchable queen and he will do what he wants.

Low's not an idiot; models go out of date without tweaking.
Low's not an idiot; once a model's made, you can get lots of folks to tweak models. As long as there's documentation. How much documentation did we provide on this model, anyway?
>>
>>29918978
probably nothing that is decipherable
>>
"Really? Well, that's a shame. Hey, can I put you down as a reference, or will I just have to let my PhD and model speak for itself?"
"That's real funny Miranda, y'know that? I think this trip has really helped you," Low's voice has taken on a lower register.
"It might have actually. I think that my contributions have helped cement this company in to its current position. And you cutting out and running isn't helping. So. I think it's high time that I receive some consideration for the absolutely ridiculous amount of money I've been making the company."

Okay, this is harder. You're currently yelling at your lead. Not your direct boss mind, but a guy above you in the company. Who could make you miserable. You look around, start shimmying out of your pajamas. Gotta get your nice suit on for this shit.

"So. What brought this on?"
"You leaving me to the wolves," You pull on the white blouse, start buttoning up, "If you're giving me more responsibilities, I think I deserve a bit more pay."
"Right. Right," Low makes a clicking noise, "You didn't use to be like this."
"Yeah, if only people would stay naive college graduates forever. I grew up Low," Fuck fuck fuck, you hate nylons, "My model is making the company a LOT of money."
"Yes. Your model is."
"Right, which means-"
"Your model. Not you at the moment."

You pause a moment. He's breaking up your momentum.
"I'm the quant that makes it work."
"You're the quant that's really pushing her luck."

Okay. Low's starting to rise against you.
"Low-"
"I get my room broken in to, my car stolen, have a near nervous breakdown, and this is the thanks I get?" He's trying to distract you, trying to take the moral high ground for keeping your salary frozen, "You're the one that hates doing anything aside from clamming up in a room and being an anti social bitch. I have to put a smile on my face, and deal with these fucking assholes day in and day out-"
"Low, I am sympatheti-"
>>
"I'm not done talking, Rook! Do you realize how selfish you are right now? We're in a transformative moment here! We're god damn expanding, I have jet lag, have to deal with criminals, and now, thanks you, the fears of losing my best god damn analyst to a prima donna ego explosion! Christ, Miranda, I'm your friend here!"

You pull on your skirt. Things are going a little strange now.
"You told me I'd get a raise."
"You will! Soon as we get back! Fuck's sake, things take time y'know? I can't wave a magic wand. What, do you want me to withdraw money from my bank account and slip it under your door? Is that what you want, Miranda?"
"No, no, I-"
"Is it drugs Miranda? Are you hiding a crippling drug addiction? Is somebody blackmailing? What could possibly be so important right now?"
"Of course I'm not, who do you think I am?"
"I thought we were friends!"

Fuck. Low is a bastard. You sit on the bed, try to get your bearings.

"Just coworkers-"
"And haven't I stuck my neck out for you?"

Maybe? He did handle the talking parts. You hate the talking parts. You hate this horse shit. You liked talking to the mercenaries better. They didn't try to guilt you.

"I don't want a 'we'll talk about it in the future', I want a guarantee that you'll pull for a raise."
"And I want a guarantee that the price of gold will double tomorrow, you know how volatile this business is."
"Yes I do, I made a god damn model describing it!"
"Exactly. You think we'd want to let you go? Don't worry. Everything'll be all right."

Why's he trying to comfort you now? Fuck.
"Does that mean I'll get the raise?"
"It means we'll talk to Deacon together. First thing when we get back. It'd be a shame to have to hire somebody new."

A not so subtle threat there from him. Though, who could run it? Dr. Cardwell? Deacon hated him. But. He did say he would talk about it.

>Hold fast. "Promise now or I give my two week's."

Well questions then.
Is the raise important enough to lose the job over?
Can we afford to not be working at the moment?
Do we want to leave the company anyway?
(can we live on this PMC business?)
>>
>>29919023
>>You've bared your teeth. He got the message. "First thing when we get back."
lets not push too hard at this time, if we want, we can always bring one of Kooji's men along as our 'consultant' if we really want to be heavy handed, we've stated our position, pushed our case as hard as we reasonably can, so lets let things work from here, the raise wouldn't have been able to come into effect anyway.

And if all else fails we can give our two weeks and move on, we've got over $110k spare available to us after buying PI
>>
>>29919023
>You've bared your teeth. He got the message. "First thing when we get back."
This is normal negotiations. A shorter term item is fine too.
>>
>>29919023
"Downstairs, hotel restaurant, 10 minutes."

This is something we should hash out in person. After we say that hang up, don't wait for him to give a response. Arrive exactly on time.

We're on the back foot right now, we need to reset the conversation and retake the initiative, this does it in two ways, we make a demand and show we aren't taking his shit, and a short break for him to stew will worry him more than us. And then us showing up in the suit should give us enough of a window to take the offensive.

He's obviously up to something shady, if he doesn't back down we point out that of course he isn't all that interested in the future of the company after the model collapses since he's involved in 'that', give no more details about what we know. And sweetly ask what the public reaction would be if the quantitative analyst who made the model quit and made public that the model is held together by stopgap measures and will fall apart, and how that would affect what he's been busy with the past couple days.
>>
>>29919053
actually, just came up with something so I'll change my vote to this:
>Other.
"Low, you want to know why I'm pushing for this now? I've finally found something to do with my life, and I'm looking damn forward to it, and having the CFO and my boss get arrested and go missing and all sorts of mysterious shit going on above my head is not making me confident in the company right now, you tell me whats really going on, with you and Deacon and the company, and I'll discuss it with you and Deacon when we get back home."
>>
>>29919023
>You've bared your teeth. He got the message. "First thing when we get back."

We are still the blubbery pile of social anxieties after all, it would be a bit unrealistic if we turned into mastermind negotiator in 3 days. We can do with what we have, and what we have now is stability.
>>
>>29919053
>>29919081
>>29919111
We're not even sure Deacon is still around right now. Hell, we have reason to believe he isn't, and he says he wants us to talk first thing when we get back.

I smell bullshit here, he probably wants to keep us out of the way for long enough to pull whatever he's been up to before bailing.

We need more than that.
>>
>>29919123

Eh. We can afford to put this off. I suspect by the time we're back some serious shit will have gone down which'll put our salary in jeopardy ANYWAY.

We do want to dump our shares now, though. It's a hot buy. So good time to sell. The price'll be rising.
>>
Okay. For now, Miranda will hold off on any ultimatums then.

It's 4:30AM here, sorry to say. I'm quite sleepy. Gotta work today too- so, call it here for now? Is that alright with everyone? I'll write a quick wrap up post here.
>>
>>29919023
I think that was enough pressure FOR NOW. This seems to truly be a bad time, especially if what he said about having a breakdown is true.

Change the topic. You *are* glad he frees you from the tedious talking. And you know he has a lot of things on his mind right now. But both of us know that I have been working far under what I deserve, I just didn't bring it up because I didn't care about money.

"I know you cannot decide that stuff on your own, but I want you to promise me, you will support me in this. As we already determined, you are far better at talking to people and your help would be really appreciated."
>>
>>29919134

Its also a front, though I'm not sure for what. There is no way that business model is sustainable, not sure what rabbit hole spider has climbed down this time, but I'm not sure I'll be able to pull him out again.
>>
>>29919134
If it's going to collapse like that anyways we have little to lose by being aggressive and levering some information and concessions out of him.

We have a stronger hand than we're acting like, and letting him walk over us, he literally hasn't changed his offer.

yeah, selling our shares is probably a good idea now, while we're riding high, if we do stay with the company, thats fine anyway, we can survive on our salary plus the raise (if the company survives, we're getting it, if it does not, then whats the point of the raise).

If someone from the company asks why we're selling our shares, say its simple, we just bought a PMC.

>>
>>29919178
No, we don't tip our hand and demand an ultimatum because that *never* goes over well with too prideful people. Salary's worthless if the company goes under. Selling shares puts across a far more poignant message.

That's what a quant does, analyse risks; what we're saying by selling is that we're thinking of diversifying; ie bailing out of this place. It'd leave more of a mark and demonstrate we're really considering leaving.
>>
>>29919123
>I smell bullshit here, he probably wants to keep us out of the way for long enough to pull whatever he's been up to before bailing.

>>
>>29919352

>>
>>29919364
Sigh

Okay. Lets just sell the shares then. There's definitely some shit going on.

Low wanted Andy's notebook, didn't he? What for, I wonder.... Maybe he has the same idea as we? Embezzlement?
>>
>>29919352
flatout no, thats just stupid and going to fuck us over
>>
>>29919385

There is shit going on. But I suspect like >>29919315 says, selling the shares will be a fairly poignant message on it's own.

So we concede to discuss it when we get back. And then sell our shares. That'll be enough to keep things polite.

We don't need to know what shit specifically is going down with the company, we're more than valuable enough to get ourselves sorted out elsewhere if need be. We just need to know that there IS shit going down. Which we do. And are reacting accordingly to, with the share sales.

And when we discuss this with Low once we get back, he will know that we are prepared to leave.

>Easy way to tell?
Go to the [Settings] tab in the upper right corner of the page and enable [Advanced].
It's a pretty shitty way but it works.
Otherwise go: ((https://4chan - x . just - believe . in /)) and install the 4chan X extension (better, provides much more information).

>Wednesdays at 23:00 4chan time from here on out
Argh, stupid timezones, that's right when I'm working on the only day of the week I work.

Tuesday your time, which is Wednesday my time, works fine, but Wednesday 23:00, is Thursday my time right when I leave for work for 10 hours.

Seems like every QM loves to run Wednesday, my busiest day by far.

Cause only the big dogs run Saturday and Friday night causing crowding while Sunday/Monday is pretty much impossible if you want the college audience and Thursday has all the cool TV shows.
