That depends on what type of lock it is. I'd expect it to be a fairly crude lock, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

Overall, our options are either to escape using what's in the cell, or hope that someone from the outside lets us out. Since we don't have anything in here that could bend the bars, the only thing we can do on our own is pick the lock.

Alternatively, we might be able to convince the guards that we need help if we act like we're injured. That's a long shot, though.

As for what there is to be done, there is a) confirming the escape route, and b) investigating the guard house, which at present is one of the only areas we have encountered thus far that is NOT in the middle of a snake hoard. There is still the option of trying to get out of the snakes' line of sight and going to the other side of the street, but we don't know what's there. I am suggesting the docks/ guard house simply because it is one of the only places we know exists

The red worms seem to be fine without a host, but maybe ours is special. Conversely, the water around the island is saltwater, which could be very nasty on the purple worm; we should use only a few drops at first.
