The third most powerful Ability User in Academy City and a Level 4 were hacking away at the thing so you doubt conventional weaponry would be of any help. It certainly makes you stand and think about why Anti-Skill lay sprawled all over the place and mostly unconscious for the most part. You take the shield for that very reason.

The AIM Burst is kicking up a great deal of dust and debris. It’s nothing for the shield though and despite being saddled with Kiyama you’re making good progress. As you get closer, you’re forced to use your telekinesis to help. The shield was only so big that you could guard against everything. It’s when you wander close enough did both of the girls back off. Turns out Sparky was The Railgun. Small world.

“Kyril I hope you’re not here to spoil the fun,” Asuka is having the time of her life apparently, “Besides I think it’s a bit above your weight class.”

“Stow it,” Sparky shoots back, “Kiyama how do we stop this thing?”

She tells them. It’s easier said than done though as it keeps attacking them whilst they search for the killing blow. With your information delivered, the wise course of action would be to leave the girls with superpowers to it but you could still be of some use.

Asuka was hacking away at the mass with The Dean. Her sword work was impressive though you didn’t really know that much about swords. You figure she would be fine as you witness The Dean intercepting a tentacle that came in from a blind spot. Sparky also has her hands full checking the attacks of the AIM Burst. That alone decides who you need to help as telekinetic manoeuvre the shield to protect her from stray debris. This leaves you and Kiyama vulnerable but you figured you could take a hit or two.

“I hereby swear that I forbid the existence of something which I cannot cut,” Asuka once again hypnotises herself.

Her swing separates the top half of the AIM Burst and revealing something shiny.

“It’s the core,” Kiyama says.

Asuka doesn’t even manage to attempt a swing at it as one of the thicker appendages slaps her aside. This gives Sparky the opening she needs for her signature attack. You concentrate on shielding her to the very last moment even as a chunk of debris the size of your head hits you in the gut. Just as you collapse in the dirt you make out a flash, one caused by the ignition of the air by friction as The Railgun’s projective drills right through.

It takes another fifteen minutes after the destruction of the AIM Burst before Anti-Skill reinforcements show up and arrest Kiyama Harumi. Before she carted off she gives a few words to Sparky and yourself.

“Beware of where you stick your nose,” is all the warning she gives you before getting tossed in the paddy wagon.

Amidst the milling law-enforcement you spot some people you know. Kaoru and Shirai from Judgement are talking with Sparky. Your homeroom teacher, Yomikawa-sensei is coordinating most of the onsite efforts. The medics are taking care of Asuka who seems to have taken a good hit in that last battle.

You’d rather not deal with the Law any more than you did today you think. That and Asuka took a blow right before Sparky drilled a hole in the AIM Burst. You don’t think it was serious but injuries were often best left to medical professionals. You amble over to her by the ambulance, yourself still sore over a minor injury.

“As far as fights go, I would rate that at a six out of ten,” she starts as she spots you, “It would have been a nine if The Railgun did not interfere, steal my kill and let herself get shielded by you. But enough about myself. How about you? I noticed that you have exposed yourself to shield The Railgun, as needless as it was.”

She pokes you with The Dean, which was thankfully sheathed, eliciting a small wince on your part.

“It will most likely be sore in the morning,” she notes, “Perhaps you should take up the profession of a shield-maiden next time? It might warrant a laugh or two.”

“I guess you’re alright,” you manage.

“Oh do not be such a grouch Kyril,” she doesn’t put much effort in that retort.

Your phone rings and interrupts your conversation. Apologising slightly you pick up.

“Hey, what’d I miss,” it was Sagara.

“A whole lotta shit,” you reply.

The AIM Burst must have kicked up more dust than you realise.

You could totally see the foreigner, who had introduced himself as Kyril Torikov, as the seme. With his rough exterior his mannerisms were also probably rough in private. You are Kyril Torikov and it seems that you have become a victim of abduction once again. Though you’d like to say that you were experienced in such matters, your last kidnapper asked you nicely. Honestly, I don't we have to worry about that until we get into the really scary shit. Everything we've done thus far has been in the realm of normal Anti-Skill/Judgement, and I think they're more fair/normal in how they handle crime.

Still, we might end up with a bad neck for a day or two but it's better then taking a guess as whatever anti-skill will pull on us. Plus we might run into someone of interest if we hang around sis.

Well it’s not like they were being rude to you, much, sticks and stones and all that. You greet them normally.

You only offer her the hose using your Ability and continue to work in silence. This goes on for a good hour or so and you’ve finally got half the pool down. With the three of you chipping away at it, it should be done by lunch.

The time is now lunch, the weather is sweltering and the date remains unchanged.

Asuka interrupts your work with a visit. Since you were still scrubbing the pool with the brush using your ability Sparky and Shirai pretend not to notice your ‘secret rendezvous.’ She brings with her, lunch, a small selection of sandwiches, and tea. It is as you are enjoying the break that you hear a squeal from the entrance. It looks like two Ladies of Tokiwadai are squealing at you, given that they were pointing, how rude.

“It’s true!” the short haired one exclaims.

“The Dictator really has a boyfriend.”

Wannai notices Sparky and starts chatting her up whilst Awatsuki remains by the poolside. Apparently they are underclassmen to both Asuka and Sparky. The both of them are also on the swim team and are wearing swimming suits. You make sure your eye doesn’t wander too far as Wannai demonstrates her water Ability called Hydro Hand. Shirai seems to be languishing by the poolside as Wannai does this however.

That nickname definitely gets her attention. You half expected her to lash out at you but surprisingly she turns around in shock. You don’t know what Shirai did but you help her up anyway, as needless as she claims your help was.

“Come on, is this where the great level 5 fails? It’s just me and my broom.”

“Hah you’re on Torikov,” Shirai answers.

“Just so you know travelling through the eleventh dimension does not count as riding a broom down the pool.”

“I don’t need any fancy Abilites to beat you caveman.”

Awatsuki and Wannai return. Intrigued by the concept of a broom race, they agree to give it a try. No one is using their Ability however. It is sort of like a gentleman’s agreement though you’re the only male present. Asuka counts you all off. You can tell she’s wondering what the outcome would be.

The race starts and it is Shirai and Sparky who are first off the line with impressive reflexes. You’re not far behind but once you hit the deep end you would probably beat them to the bottom at this rate.

You don’t cheat, trusting physics and your superior broom handling technique to see you through the day. You overtake Shirai with a contemptuous ease but it is Sparky that gives you a hard time. Between the two of you, she carries the day and wins before hurrying out of the pool as Asuka watches on amused. Shirai was being a sore loser however and demanded a rematch. Thus you spent you afternoon outracing her with your broom.

Episode 10 End. No interlude tonight chaps, I’m slipping in and out of consciousness given I woke up 24 hours ago. Hopefully I don’t faint in the shower and kill myself or something. Twitter for the next time I run.
