You are Flying officer Julian Reber of the Royal Air Force. You joined the RAF to participate in the war against the BETA, aliens who have conquered most of Europe and Asia. Per standard Western military doctrine, you were rotated back to the Royal Air Force College Cranwell to teach cadets how to not suck at flying a Tactical Surface Fighter. You were taking your element lead out for dinner when you heard the sounds of bombs going off somewhere in the city. It can't be anything other than a coordinated terrorist attack.

The good news is, the restaurant you picked frequently serves VIPs and the staff are all former SAS, if not currently MI5. They've already started to secure the place.

The bad news is, you're surrounded by VIPs. Michel, one of your father's old friends is here, along with some of his associates. As Michel is the Swiss minister of finance and his associates are the presidents of Switzerland's top four banks, this is a problem. The five of them control a large portion of the European Union's military budget, and that's not counting their indirect connections and influence. You're certain there are contingencies in place in case something bad happens to them, but you don't want to take any risks.

Also worth noting is Elaine's mother, who was apparently dining with the Earl Marshal. The Earl Marshal is responsible for overseeing the genealogy and heraldry of the British nobility, so he's a prime target for bribery, blackmail and extortion. He's also quite expandable. If terrorists are out to get him, it won't disrupt anything important, but it would be bad for morale and it would most certainly embarrass the Crown.

>(cont.)
>>
>>30508055
Michel and his guests don't seem too concerned. They're just enjoying the bread and water.

"Such a shame," Michel says. "To think I had to skip lunch today of all days."

The bankers shrug.

Meanwhile, Elaine's mother appears to be having an argument with the Earl Marshal, who's trying to calm her down. The Earl Marshal didn't look so well when he realized you were on a first name basis with the people holding the EU's purse strings, but he's handling the emergency very well.

Elaine is just looking outside with a worried expression.

>Grab Elaine and get to your table. It's better not to obstruct the staff.
>See if you can find who's in charge and offer to help. This isn't your problem, but you're still in the British military.

"I better get going." You wave to Michel and his guests. "I don't trust the SAS to handle this."

Hans, one of Michel's guests and another one of your father's friends, motions for you to head off.

"Don't mind us," he says. "I've known the, ah, 'manager' here for a long time. He can handle it, but the staff? Not so much."

It's quite easy to find the boss. The waiters are streaming out of the kitchen with Colt Canada C7s. There are two dozen in total - far too many for a restaurant this size - but they get out of your way when they see your RAF uniform.

In the back of the kitchen, you see an older gentleman pulling guns and ammunitions out of a walk-in refrigerator. He glares at you as you enter the kitchen and yells.

"Who the bloody hell - Oh, wait, I recognize you. You're M's new errand boy."

Perhaps it wasn't just the RAF uniform.

"I really wish you wouldn't announce that to the whole world." He man holds out another C7 for you, along with several boxes of ammo. You grab the weapon and run a quick check. "It's a bit of a sore spot for me. And the Russians. Mostly the Russians."

"I imagine so, seeing as how the Russians are all gone." The man shakes your hand, although it's mostly just a bare formality, seeing as how you're both holding guns. "Conners. Ian Conners. Pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"Likewise." You finish checking the rifle. You're no expert, but it looks ready to shoot. "What's the situation?"

"Terrorist," Conners says. "We're not sure which cell yet. The RLF is our best."

"I thought the RLF were contained on the American continent."

>(cont.)
>>
>>30508545
"They're mildly active in England, but not to this extent." Conners pulls out yet another rifle for you. "I imagine your partner will be needing this."

"Thank you." You run another quick check to confirm that Elaine's rifle is in good order. "Do you have any plans?"

"A few," Conners says. "We can hold this place for some time, but that won't solve our problem and things might go wrong. Some of the guests are... less expendable than others and should be moved to a more secure shelter, if possible. I've sent out some scouts to have a look at the area, but they haven't reported in yet. Once they return, I'll decide if it's necessary for us to assist in rooting out the terrorists."

>"I can help you defend this place until the scouts return."

Conners doesn't look like he has enough people to set up a decent perimeter and while it'll definitely be dangerous out there, you won't be boxed in. As long as you stay mobile and avoid doing anything stupid, you won't get caught.

"Good," Conners says. "I don't have the manpower to handle this on my own. I believe you're already familiar with everyone we need escorted out. I'll calm the guests down and you can lead the VIPs out through the back door."

You follow Conners out of the kitchen. He goes to the middle of the restaurant and loudly calls everyone's attention. You could to Elaine who's having an oddly calm fight with her mother.

"I told you, mother," Elaine says. "I need to get a report on the situation so that I can help. Because I'm in the military and this is what we do."

"You don't want to help," Elaine's mother says. "You just want to run away, just like you ran away from home, from school, from me, from your father, from your sister, from your friends, from your country, from your heritage, from your pride, from your responsibilities and from your future. You've been running away since you were five years old, Elaine. It's time you grew up and started acting like an adult.

Elaine and her mother look completely worn out, almost bored, even. The Earl Marshal is slumping in his chair out of despair, munching on bread.

>(cont.)

As much as you don't want to get caught in this, you have a job to do.

"Elaine-" You call out to her.

Elaine immediately looks at you and smiles brightly. Her mother also looks at you, but with a mix of contempt, loathing and disgust.

"Julian," Elaine says. "This is my mother, Miriam. She thinks I've been shirking by responsibility to the family line for the last few years, and that I should take some time off to have an heir. Fortunately, I'm ovulating in eight days. Can you clear your schedule?"

Miriam rolls her eyes and scoffs at her daughter.

In hindsight, telling Elaine to work out her family issues was probably not your best idea.

>"This is not remotely the time for this, Elaine."
>"Can we get back to Dover first? Maybe ask Mary and Knight if they have an opinion on the subject?"
>"You know what? Sure. I'll write a letter to my parents. I'm certain they'll be thrilled."

Elaine and her mother both look stunned, but Elaine quickly recovers and throws herself at you. She kisses you and slips her tongue into your mouth. At this point, you're committed. You lick her tongue and drink her saliva until Elaine pulls back, gasping for breath. It's the most you can do, seeing as how you're still holding to C7s.

"And now that we've settled our family planning, please take this rifle and help me get your mother and the Earl Marshal out of here." You give Elaine one of the rifles and salute the Earl Marshal. You're not sure if you're supposed to do that, but you don't care. "Your grace, I've been asked to escort you to a safer shelter."

"Thank God," the Earl Marshal. "John Harrington. Call me John if you'd like, I don't stand on ceremony in times like these, just get me the bloody hell out of here."

"We're leaving out the back door," you say. "I'll meet you there once I've picked up the rest of our party."

The Earl Marshall practically runs towards kitchen, desperate to get away from the women. Before Miriam can protest, Elaine grabs her arm and pulls her along.

You go back to Michel's table to pick up the rest of the party.

"Ladies, gentlemen," you say, "I'm afraid I shall have to suffice as your escort for the rest of the evening. If you would be so kind as to accompany me."

"I suppose we may as well," Dominic says. "Cowering here and waiting for the storm to pass would be shameful."

The men stand and help Jacynthe and Anja stand. You lead them to the kitchen. Elaine is covering the door and, thankfully, has not started another fight with her mother.

>Elaine Robinson has learned Stealth.

"Elaine, scout ahead while I cover our backs." You give your rifle one final check and open the door. "I'll point out where to go. Be sure to stick to cover and let me know if anybody's around. Is everybody ready?"

The VIPs nod. Harrington and Michel and his friends don't seem to care one way or the other, but Elaine's mother still looks angry.

"All right, let's go."

The area around the restaurant is clear, but now that you're outside, you can clearly see the fire. It looks like they're coming from the RAF college. It's near your own destination, but the base and the college and big enough and far enough apart that you should be able to sneak through.

You point Elaine to the general direction of the base. You both check around for hostiles one more time. The town is semi-rural, with lots of open spaces, but there are plenty of houses, fences, sheds and trees to hide behind, if you know what you're doing.

Satisfied that there aren't any hidden snipers around, Elaine rushes forward to the next cover spot.

You move cover from cover as fast as you can. The need for stealth slows you down, but you don't have to deal with the roads or traffic, so it more or less evens out. Elaine quietly moves quietly every time you point her forward. You don't encounter anyone - not even the civilians whose houses you're cutting through - until you're halfway there. That's when Elaine motions for you to hold back. Then she holds up six fingers.

Two against six isn't good odds. You peak out to see if you can spot the hostiles.

Your odds increase significantly.

There are six people there, but they're obviously untrained terrorists. They have no uniforms, they didn't post a sentry, a few of them just dropped their guns off on the side, they're using sidearms and they look completely undisciplined.

You might be able to sneak by, but while Elaine can handle it, you don't know if you and the VIPs can. You can wait for them to leave, but they might get reinforcement. You can probably take them out and take their equipment as a bonus, but the fight might attract attention.

If THEY'RE undisciplined, we can bank on their allies being similar.

Safer to try and take them out and rely on lack of military intuition/training to keep their friends from catching on as to what happened to this group.

Sneaking the VIPs would be viable if we had a better route to take, but we're mostly stuck in the open for now.

You give Elaine the universal sign for 'We are going to murder these guys and loot their corpses.' She nods once and lines up a shot from her position. Once you start shooting, she'll follow suit.

You, on the other hand, are going to have a harder time of it. You can see the terrorists from your position, but you don't have a clear shot at this distance, and you don't want to alert them to the position of the VIPs. You're going to have to charge at them and hope your rifle fire either kills them or forces them into cover.

You take a few deep breaths to calm yourself and then spring towards the terrorists, one finger heavy on your rifle's trigger. You're not really aiming, but there's six of them, you have the element of surprise and they're exposed. You should be able to kill something.

As far as you can tell, your charge doesn't kill any of the terrorists, but some of them take some very painful and very inconvenient wounds. They drop prone almost immediately and Elaine has a very good shot at them from her position. Once she's done killing the fallen terrorists, she guns down the few that are still standing. It takes the two of you under five seconds to clear the area.

You scout out the immediate area to confirm it's clear and wave the VIPs through. Harrington looks like he's downright enjoying himself and Michel's party are all still jaded about everything. Elaine's mother, however, pointedly avoids looking at the terrorists.
"What a shoddy operation," Harrington says. "They don't even have a radio."

"Yeah, this is strange," you say. "The explosions we heard were coordinated. They should have better equipment than this."

"There's no point in being paranoid, Julian," Jacynthe says. "You should have seen how much of a mess your father was back when he was worrying over every little thing."

"Aliens destroying the homeland wasn't a 'little thing', Jacynthe," Hans says. "But you're right about this. In all likelihood, they were being supplied by someone else. Something must have disrupted their supply shipments. They received the bombs, but not the rest of the equipment they needed."

"Or perhaps they became impatient," Harrington says.

Regardless, you now have some more guns to hand out.

The Earl Marshal casually picks up one of the terrorist's rifles and looks it over.

"M4 Carbine," he says. "American-made. Some elements of the British Army use it, but they're fairly rare here. These terrorists most definitely have someone supplying them."

You don't bother asking him if he wants to help out. That still leaves you with plenty of guns.

"So, Hans... about those rumours you worked for the Stasi..."

"This again?" Hans sighs. "Just because I supplied your father with the location of a few hundred thousand troy ounces of Nazi gold, and the anonymous Swiss bank account numbers of several prominent German officials, and exposed several dozen other corrupt German officials who were storing money and valuable goods in secret safes in their home does not mean I worked for the Stasi."

Everyone is now staring at Hans. You hold out a rifle for him and say nothing.

Hans sighs again and picks up it. He checks the chamber and magazine faster than you could.

"Now that we've settled that, let's get moving," you say. "We're about halfway to the RAF base. It's that way, Elaine."

You point in the base's direction and Elaine heads for the nearest cover.

You look out from her vantage point and see ten terrorists standing near a breach in the base's perimeter fence. A few of them are wearing casual clothes, but some of them are wearing RAF uniform. The only reason why you're certain they're all terrorists is because they're standing over the corpses of more than a dozen MPs and soldiers.

"Insiders, or disguises?" Elaine asks.

"Has to be disguises," you say, trying to convince yourself more than Elaine. "If they were insiders, the other guys would have had better training."

"They might have recruited people from the inside and outside," Elaine says. "In any case, this is bad. Can we go around them?"

Hand and Harrington both nod and move into position. You can't see them very well, but from what you can tell, they're extremely professional about it. At least one of them will be able to see your countdown.

You hold up three fingers high enough that your allies should see, but your enemies won't. They don't seem to be paying much attention to you anyway.

You mentally count down from three and, with a slight gesture of your hand, lower your fingers one by one. The instant you're down to zero, the suppression fire begins.

You cut out the man's clothes with a combat knife, leaving him in his underwear. You tie him up as securely as you can, but with the condition his leg is in, there really isn't much he could do to attack you or run away.

"Julian, take the front," Elaine says. "I'll cover our back."

You pull the prisoner forward towards the shelter. It's been a while, but you participated in quite a few drills here, and you remember exactly where the shelter is. Most of your VIPs continue giving no fucks about anything, but Elaine's mother looks like she's about to be sick. It's actually quite surprising that she's held up for this long. Civilians don't usually shrug off the site of bloody, bullet-ridden bodies.

The shelter is exactly where you remember it. It's also manned by MPs and soldiers. They challenge you as you arrive, but the Earl Marshal waves them down. It's not exactly standard protocol, but no one wants to take a shot at one of the Great Officers of State.

You unceremoniously drop throw your prisoner at one of the MPs' feet.

"He's one of the terrorists," you say. "We caught him and nine others trying to break into the base. They'd killed about a dozen guards."

"We'll take care of it, sir," the MP says. "In the meantime, Air commodore Pentecost will want to see you."

"I'll go looking for him," you say. "Coming, Elaine?"

She looks at her mother as a security detail leads her into the shelter proper. Then she turns to you and smiles.

"Of course," she says. "It wouldn't do if I didn't run away straight into a warzone."

Pentecost is easy to find. He's the guy loudly shouting orders from the highest vantage point.

"Owens! The scouts just came back. Go get their report. Brook! You and the rest of the cadets are to perform a headcount. I want to know how many people they have." He sees you and Elaine approach. "Reber, Robinson, welcome to our forward operating base."

"I'm sure the hospitality is better than Sterling's, sir," you say. "What can we do to help?"

"I need you to get airborne," Pentecost says. "We received a few runners. Our TSFs have been sabotaged, and the hangars themselves are under pressure, but if you can get to one of them, you should be able to get at least one TSF running and get into the fight. Whatever happens, we can't let these terrorists get into the hangars."

>"We'll go to the RAF hangar. It's closest."
>"We'll go to the college hangar. It's got the Typhoons, right?"
>"Getting into the hangars will be too dangerous if they're being attacked, but the museum..."
>>
>>30513309
that is one long ass name.

>museum

I assume they have some early model TSFs?
>>
>>30513333
Switching to this
>>"Getting into the hangars will be too dangerous if they're being attacked, but the museum..."
>>
>>30513333
>>"We'll go to the college hangar. It's got the Typhoons, right?"

hoping those cadet's bodies are ready.
>>
>>30513333
>"Getting into the hangars will be too dangerous if they're being attacked, but the museum..."

Well no one will expect this!
>>
>>30513397
nope its air planes.
museum=air planes
Raf= phantoms
College= Typhoons
>>
>>30513397
museums are all aircraft actually.
>>
>>30513397
Planes, if my memory serves.
>>
>>30513333
>"We'll go to the RAF hangar. It's closest."
we need to get up and running ASAP

we can let Elaine sit on our lap
>>
>>30513333
>>"Getting into the hangars will be too dangerous if they're being attacked, but the museum..."

"Museum piece, huh? I'll show them a museum piece!"
>>
>>30513333
>>"We'll go to the RAF hangar. It's closest."
We visited the museum before, and mentioned that we had to MENTALLY RECALL the smell of gas fumes.

The planes in the museum don't have FUEL.
>>
>>30513333
>>"Getting into the hangars will be too dangerous if they're being attacked, but the museum..."
>>
>>30513436
Planes with no fuel and ammo?
You're right, no one is expecting that.
>>
>>30513333
>"We'll go to the RAF hangar. It's closest."
the people voting for the ancient planes are stupid, lets go with what we actually have combat experience in, and is closest
>>
GUYS what if those cadets are the daughters of these VIP's?
>>
>>30513471
we will run it on PURE RESOLVE.
>>
>>30513585
then they can wait inline after Elaine and Knight and Wright, that is, if Elaine lets them even get the chance
>>
>>30513638
that's not what i meant, if going to the college wins and we get them to join us it could be bad and good depending on the circumstances of the battle.
>>
I'm half expecting the terrorist leader to be a full blown bond villain or something
>>
Rolled 2

>>30513333
Tiebreaker roll:
1= RAF hangar
2= Museum
>>
>>30513731
i'm leaning towards religious zealot, that thinks this is rapture.
>>30513745
Yay
>>
>>30513731
i wouldn't have it any other way.

>>30513745
Elaine is going to be the spotter.
>>
>>30513745
So only WE'RE going to have transport, because Elaine probably can't fly ancient warplanes.
>>
>>30513745
well this should be interesting, trying to rundown terrorists with a crusader
>>
>>30513798
just hoping there is actually a decent fighter jet there somewhere, all countries did prioritize TSF R&D.
>>
>>30513837
she can sit in our lap, like wright did in our tornado
>>
>>30513889
>>30513837
planes are usually two seaters.
>>
>>30513333
"Getting into the hangars will be too hard if they're being attacked, but the museum..."

"The museum should be unguarded," Pentecost says. "You remember how to fuel and arm a plane?"

"Of course I do," you say. "See if you can get runners into the hangars, tell them to start a fighting retreat. If the TSFs are damaged, it'll take a while for the terrorists can get them ready for combat, even if they probably know what the damage is and how to fix it. I can make it in time."

"I'll think about it," Pentecost says. "I would prefer if you didn't shoot down several squadrons worth of TSFs."

"Duly noted, sir."

"Wait," Elaine says. "We're doing what now?"

"Don't worry, I'll sort you out once we get there."

The loud, painful crackling of a speaker interrupts your conversation.

"Shit," Pentecost says. "They must have gotten to the speaker system."

"Attention, heathens!" A booming voice echoes throughout the base, but it doesn't actually sound very deep. Most of it must be the speakers. "We are Allegiance! We are the servants of God! We have come to welcome the judgment of God, the divine beings you call 'BETA' in your filthy tongue! You, who have dared to raise your hand against the chosen of God, will be the first to suffer His wrath!"
