She often acts confused as to what she's supposed to to, for example. Whenever we try to ask her a question, she WANTS to try and answer it, but seems unable to, as if she has some serious mental block."

"Is she going to suffer the same thing Mirai did?" You ask worriedly.

"Well, from what I've seen, your friend Mirai was suffering similar symptoms before she had her memory erased. I think, from what you've seen, is that Companions are not omniscient like many people believe them to be, as evidenced by how Kanako has not had her powers and memories taken away from her."

"So you're saying her Companion has no idea that she's alive?"

"That's what it appears to be." Egan nods. "Either that or it's some kind of very elaborate ruse, which I doubt it is."

"Okay, then what can we do?"
