You face him head on. You can do this.

He looks you up and down. You can see the gears turn in his head. His eyes dash all around. He thinks he can outsmart you.

You really hope not. Your brain isn't coming up with anything complicated right now. You stare back at him, moving your fingers slowly. You take a breath.

The lights flicker and you both burst into action. He zooms at you with incredible speed. You know you can't match him outright in how fast he can move, but you can predict how he'll move.

He surprises you by turning around mid-air. He lands on your feet first, then he runs up your leg. You snatch at his bra-bundle, but he moves it out of the way just in time. He hits the ceiling then comes dashing back down again. You start falling backwards as you try to keep track of him.

Sneasel gets cocky. Just as you're about to hit the ground, he tries going for your left pocket. He still keeps the bundle out of reach. As he's doing that though, you bring the Pokeball out and around with your right hand. You activate the beam and retrieve him.

The jostling of your head when your butt hits the ground is terrible. You take a few seconds before getting up. The look on his face was worth it though.

Vance and Jeanine come around to meet you.

Jeanine has her arms crossed as she runs. "How did it go?"

You hold up the Pokeball and toss Vance the keys. "That's all I got back. He even has my badges."

Jeanine keeps her arms crossed and tries to shrink.

Absently, you wonder how much stuff a Pokeman can have in their Pokeball. You'll have to ask Robin later.

Speaking of, you see fiddling with a computer.

You plug some change into a machine and get a bottle of water. Robin probably needs this more than you getting in the way.

You, Vance, and Jeanine walk over to Robin. You unscrew the lid and hand her the bottle. She thanks you but blushes when Jeanine comes into her vision. You help her hold it up as she guzzles it down. You position yourself behind her and massage her temples. You can see her visibly relax a bit.

"How's it going?" Vance asks.

Robin is concentrating too much to be overly self-conscious, but you can tell she's worried about how everything thinks of her. "I don't know. It looks like it just vanished."

"What vanished? What was happening?"

She stops pressing buttons and looks up. "I don't know. Whatever was messing with the computer system isn't in the system anymore. I think."

Something catches your eye. Your Pokedex is on one of the computers. "How did this get here?"

Nobody knows or remembers. Probably Sneasel or something. You check it out. It seems normal.

You scan Zappy Dan. It just gives an accurate reading without any issues. That's odd, usually it's a sarcastic remark or something. You almost hope for it now.

Vance goes to open up the main doors and let people in. When he comes back, he looks worried. "My parents are probably worried."

That will probably be a really uncomfortable situation. Even an orphan like you can guess how they'll react.

You don't know what you're supposed to do in these situations. You decide to just ask Vance. "Should we come?"

He rubs his eyes. "You probably don't want to be there."

You look down as the sunlight grows more intense. "But what do you want us to be?"

"I can't really ask you to-"

You're so not up for this. "Yes or no Vance."

His hand squeezes your shoulder. "Yes. Thank you." You hear the smile in his voice, but you don't look up.

It's pretty easy to collect your Pokemon. They're mostly sleeping or at least sleepy. The four of your go into Vance's parents house. It probably looks like you've all come back from a war or something. Hair all disheveled, bags under your eyes. Robin leans on you. You think back to your spotty memories of last night. You wouldn't mind signing on for a second tour.

Giorgio greets you at the door "Look who finally came home."

His mom yells. "Do you have any idea how worried we were? Especially after last night! What were you thinking?"

The shouting! Why is there so much shouting? You hold your head and keep your eyes away from the light.

"What did you even do last night?" You try not to wince. It's not particularly harsh, but it feels like it from what's happening in your skull.

Giorgio laughs. "I bet." He peers down at everyone. There's both anger and amusement in his eyes. He looks you all over carefully. Jeanine keeps her arms crossed. Robin barely notices anything. Vance looks like his parents are bombs that might go off if he does the wrong thing.

His mom hits Vance with a wooden spoon. "Are you at least using protection?" You'd laugh really, really hard under different circumstances.

"Mooom!" He's about to complain even more, but you hear a disgusting Urp sound come from his mouth. He runs to the bathroom

His mom chases after him. "Vance I'm serious, we need to talk about these things before you end up taking care of three kids."

Jeanine shyly looks up. "Is Vance going to be grounded." You didn't even think about that. What if they forbid him from traveling with you?

Giorgio smacks taps his spoon against his coffee cup, producing an unfairly loud, high pitched noise. The three of you flinch. "What do you think?" He's responding to Jeanine, but it's an open question. "Celebrated too hard." He repeats. He keeps tapping the coffee cup, and each time is like a nail getting pounded in your skull.

You say nothing. You just look up at his dad.

Giorgio sips his coffee and sighs as looks at your face. "Vance isn't grounded. There's no punishment worse than what he's getting right now."

You hear the distant sound of Vance throwing up while his mom lectures him on safe sex.

You take the chance and give a light chuckle. "The thing about us all being his girlfriends was a joke, you know."

Giorgio takes another sip. "Yup. I figured. His mom knows too."

You're about to make a joke to Robin about her being lucky her dad isn't this cruel, but you figure it's probably a bad idea.

You keep the conversation going. "Vance isn't actually dating Jeanine. Yet." Jeanine looks at you. "And I'm with Robin." You hold her hand.

"Now that I didn't know." He starts cooking something up. "How are you feeling?"

Robin talks this time. "So you're not mad?"

"Believe it or not, I was young once too." He stirs in an assortment of seemingly random ingredients. "My gut tells me that you're good kids. Don't make the last two nights into a habit, and don't do anything you wouldn't want your own kids to do. Let me ask you something though. Why are you and my son traveling together. Really?"

"You seem to get in a lot of trouble young lady." He's trying to scold you, but you can hear pride in his voice.

"You sound like your being a good friend already." He pours the concoction into small bowls and hands each of your one. "It's best to take it all down in one gulp."

You look down at the foul smelling brew. Why not? You down it in a swift motion. It's terrible! You shudder involuntarily.

Vance comes back. He's looking a lot better. His mom has stopped lecturing too.

"Hey, is everyone cool in here?"

They cook you up a nice greasy breakfast. You can see why people make a big deal out of having a home. You can tell that his parents are still upset, but they're making their first priority to take care of him. And you too.

"So where are you kids going next?"

You're feeling a bit negligent of your training, but given the circumstances you can forgive yourself.

You have other things you want to settle though.

"Jeanine, want to help me with Sneasel?"

Jeanine becomes more aware of what she's wearing again. She folds her arms in front of herself and nods. "Good idea."

You both go into the bathroom and open the standup shower. You cram yourselves in and let Sneasel out. You don't give him a second. As soon as he's out, you both grab him and get the remaining items off of him. Jeanine looks just as relieved to have her stuff back as you are to get your badges.

You hold them tightly. It's your proof that you're a trainer. That you've made progress to your goal. You've beaten three experienced gym leaders. You're a real, legitimate trainer.

You're actually starting to believe that.

"So, how was your night with Vance?"

You can't see her face she she's turning around to put her bra on. "Can you help me out?"

She's ignoring the question.

I've drunk to the point of repeated vomiting more than a few times and I've never really had a noticeable hangover. Always drink water, piss a lot, try to sleep as close to your normal number of hours as possible.

Probably thread tomorrow. Sorry. I'm preparing for a multi-day job assessment. I'll try to have sometime Tuesday, but I can't promise that either. If I get the job though, there will be many more threads.
