As much as you wanted to kill the damn thing, you remember that you're literally standing on top of your own school. If you weren't careful, you could bring down the entire roof on top of your fellow students' heads. No, you had to get this thing away to where it couldn't hurt anybody. You had two options. You could lure to the sports field, where you'd have more than enough room to maneuver, but it was on the other side of the school. There was an old flood channel that was much closer, but it was narrow and tight, not really making it an ideal place to fight an opponent like this.

The Invader sends its front legs swinging at you, but you bat them away with your Heartlance. You scowl, though. It should have cut through them like nothing. You figure that its exoskeleton made it tougher than normal Invaders. Guess you'd just have to go for the joints, then. Adjusting your aim, you wait for it to attack again, meeting the oncoming leg with your spear point, shearing the entire limb off.

You smile as the Invader screams and backs off. However, that smile quickly disappears when the Invader spins around and shoots sticky white stuff at you.

Damnit, you forgot it could do that.

The big wad of silk slams against your Circle. Your magic barrier easily repels it, but it obscures your vision, giving the Invader a chance charge you. You can't dodge in time and a sweep of its leg sends you flying across the field, slamming into the football goal post and causing it to snap like a toothpick. Groaning, you see your Circle flickering weakling and wince. The state your defenses were in, you could NOT take another hit like that.

You keep moving, staying ahead of the Invader. Thankfully, it's not too fast, so it's not too big of a problem outrunning it. You just have to stay close enough so it can keep its attention on you. The Invader resorts to firing wads of silk at you, but you easily dodge them. Things are going well until...

You just stop.

Blinking, you realize that you can't move. You struggle against what seem to be invisible bonds, until you realize what happened. The damn spider wasn't trying to hit you, it was setting up a trap! And like a dumb fly, you got caught in the web. You struggle with all your might, be even your Heartlance is caught up in the web, so you can't cut it. Things were looking really, really bad here.

That is, until you notice the shadows begin to move. Suddenly, they seem to rise out up from the ground and shoot out at the Invader, wrapping around its legs and body and pinning it in place.

"Well it's about time, Shadowblade." You grunt. "What took you so long?"

"Hey, some of us have personal stuff to take care of, okay?" Your fellow Magical Girl Shadowblade steps out from a shadow portal. The shadow of a nearby lamp post then coils up around her body and forms a blade at her fingers, which she uses to cut you free of the web. "You're welcome, by the way."

"Yeah yeah, thanks." You sigh. Goddamn, this silk was going to take FOREVER to get out of your hair! "Let's finish this bastard before the army takes credit, yeah?"

"Sure thing." Shadowblade nods.

However, before the both of you can do anything, you hear somebody shout out.

The both of you chase after the mystery MG. However, you find that it was surprisingly easy to catch up to her. You suspect that you were dealing with a newbie, who didn't know how to deal with her suddenly increased strength and agility yet. Sure enough, you see a black and red costumed girl who seemed to have run head first into a tree.

"Ow ow ow ow ow..... fucking cat never told me it would be this hard..." She groans.

Yep, definite newbie. Hell, she didn't even have her glamour spell up. You grab the girl's shoulder and spin her around.

"Hey, just what do you-"

And you pause when you realize you're looking right at Alice.

"Alice?" You blink.

"Yeah..." Alice looks away, her cheeks reddening.

"OHMYGOSH you did accept after all!" You smile and hug your new friend.

"I just saw the spider wailing on your and... well..." Alice grumbles. "I thought I should help somehow."

"No, I think he's staying over at Jo's place at the moment." You blink. "Why?"
