I think Geno's goal is right, but he's going about it all wrong. He's rug pushing things out of desperation, that leads to sloppy science and a lot of hurt people along the way. If he'd just slow down and do things properly he could pursue his project without harming so many people and pokemons...

I was thinking roar, but my worry is that Devon is going to be slower than Mankey and take a heavy hit anyway. With counter, Devon takes a hit and deals it back twice as hard, which, if Mankey does use its advantage means that it will be taking a huge amount of damage.

Roar is still fine though, since Mankeys and Houndours are nearly the same base speed in general

You're strongly tempted to surprise him with Counter, but you decide that it's worth it to use Roar to force his Pokemon to switch.

"Mankey! Hit it with Karate Chop!"

The fuzzy Pokemon leaps at Devon, expecting to have to dodge an attack before it closes the ground. It lands a solid blow to Devon's neck, forcing a small yelp out of your Houndour.

Devon didn't move back though. He stood his ground. "Devon, Roar!" He unleashes a vicious snarl that builds into a powerful, loud Roar. With some practice, he might be able to give the much larger Levi a run for her money. In a way he's almost scarier.

Mankey trips over itself scrambling back to Hunter. It smacks it's own Pokeball and cowers before the the light absorbs it back in to it's safe place.

Suddenly the tied up Rapidash tries to get loose. It struggles against the rope. "Woah! Calm down!" Hunter tries to get her under control. She wants to fight Devon. Hunter panics, trying to solve his problem. He throws out the other Pokeball at his belt. "Go Lampent!"

Lampant floats, waiting for it's orders. Seeing another Pokemon on the field calms Rapidash a bit. It looks offended that it didn't get a chance to battle.

That blow left a mark on Devon, but he doesn't let how much he's hurt show. You can't entirely tell if it just hurt, or hurt a lot.

"Dark Pulse! Blow it away!" Devon digs in just as you know he would. He does that when he wants to go full power on something. A ball of darkness forms in his mouth for half a second before he fires a powerful beam.

Lampent never stood a chance. The blast of darkness connects and sends in skidding into the ground. It grinds through the dirt, spraying up pebbles and clumps of earth. You see it's arms float from side to side as it lays there.

"Good job Devon!" You're proud of him. He can really unleash when he wants.

"We're not done yet! Lampent! Get up! Momento!" His Lampent doesn't move. "I said get up!"

It struggles up. It's clearly beyond the ability to fight. "Momento! Let's go!"

It's eyes glow as it glares at Devon. You see Devon shiver for a second before Lampent collapses.

Hunter looks desperate but cocky. "Let's see how well you do against Mankey now!" He retrieves Lampent and throws Mankey back out.

You think that move weakened Devon somehow.

Whatever Momento does, it was worth a lot to him to pull off. You don't want to take a chance by keeping Devon in.

You decide not to mess around. "Wing Attack!" Vlad blasts off into action immediately. He's so fast.

"Screech!" Hunter yells to his Mankey. The only reason he can even start it is because of the distance between the two. The Screech is cut short as Vlad slams passed Mankey. Mankey flips over twice and lands hard on the ground.

Vlad circles in triumph and starts heading back to you.

"Where are you going? Mankey isn't out yet! Get up Mankey!"

His Mankey starts struggling to it's feet. It stumbles once, then pushes itself up. It wavers as it stands. You see a dirt stain on it's fur. Mankey doesn't look like he poses much of a threat unless he gets incredibly lucky.

Mankey sways as it puts it's fists up.
