You sit down across the aisle from Gelus, behind the copilot. You fumble with the 5-point harness. Gelus notices and reaches across the aisle to help you. Buckled in, you swivel your chair to forward so you can look out the front. The world below you is in full view: desert, seas, forests, clouds and all.

After 20 minutes, you notice the pilots become active. They start pushing buttons and flipping switches that you wouldn't know the function of.

“Breaking atmo, Abbott Gelus, sir,” one of the pilots says.

Gelus grunts an affirmative. You notice the edges of the viewports are framed with red, the heat of atmospheric entry. The shuttlecraft starts shaking, the intensity increasing steadily. Gelus folds his gloved hands across his chest in the sign of the aquila, his lips moving silently in prayer.

>Say a short prayer, make the harness tighter
>Join him in devout prayer
>Do nothing, brave it out

I'll try to use ambiguous terms, otherwise easily understable/intuitive flavor words. But you could start reading here

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + skill.

With more people playing, the PC has greater chances of success, up to a limit of her attribute + ability.

>Experience Points?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp. There will also be chances for the PC to train. Every session, the PC will gain

a base of 2 XP, plus 1 XP for actions chosen/write-ins that I like.

I will also try to make a thread announcement on the current Quest Thread General if there is any.

As this is my first quest, constructive criticism is very, very welcome (and asked for) but please try to keep the majority to after session end.

You murmur a prayer under your breath and attempt to tighten your harness. Satisfied with being secure, you make the sign of the aquila and sit straight. You can feel your heart beating fast in you chest.

After five minutes, the shaking normalizes and the the viewports are clear of the red of entrance heat. Gelus finishes praying and breathes out a long sigh.

Far ahead, you see a thick strip of grey on the brown palette of the desert. Many thinner strips branch off of it to the left and the right. Small dots of grey and darker brown line the sides of each one. Here and there, the sun shines off of something metallic.

The pilot warbles something into his helmet. He gets a short response. A short conversation follows. The copilot flips a few switches and the shuttle jerks. The grey stripe grows in size until you can make it out as a landing strip. The tarmac rushes up to meet the shuttle.

>>31234060
The landing is quite rough, shaking your in your chair, but it’s your first, so you have no point of reference. You’d never been off Alamos Primus and all trips across the planet had been by land vehicle otherwise.

Gelus promptly releases his harness and opens the door into the cabin. He motions for you to follow him. After fumbling with the harness release, you walk out of the cockpit. The other children are still fast asleep in their berths. You count seventeen of them.

On the other end of the cabin, there are another two doors. The one on the left is too small for a regular person, probably the one the servitor came out of earlier. Gelus knocks twice on the door on the right, then pulls it open himself. Curious.

You enter another room, bare of any berths, seats or windows. Gelus slams his fist on the wall next to the doorway, then walks into the center of the room. You follow him unquestioningly. The walls and ceiling start to rise, or rather, the floor starts to lower with a whine.

The floor stops with a shudder. Four pistons connect it to the shuttle above. You look around you. An endless brown vista to your left, buildings to your right. You watch a truck emerge from the largest building, heading towards you.

(Oh shit, forget the rest of the text).
When the truck arrives, two men jump out. Both wear tan fatigues and flak armor. One advances faster than the other towards you. He salutes to Gelus.

“Sir, welcome back to Nova Eddard PDF Air Base.” So they’re Planetary Defence Force then. Gelus lazily returns the salute.

“If you’d attend to the children,” Gelus squints to see the man’s rank pin, “Lieutenant. They've been asleep for quite some time and we need to get them to the Schola sooner than later.”
Gelus’ eye twinges. Maybe he’d been expecting someone higher-ranked to meet him?

“Yo Mack, get your guys out here!”, the Lieutenant says. He has to raise his voice when a wind picks up. Several men pile out of the back of the truck, a few of them wearing white coats.

Gelus starts speaking with the Lieutenant. You can’t hear them over the wind. You’re just standing there, hair flying around in the breeze. The second man from the truck stand a few feet away from the three of you, probably the Lieutenant’s adjutant. The buildings of the base actually aren't that far away, the use of the truck questionable for such a short distance.

With Gelus and the lieutenant probably talking over something important, you see what you can get out of the adjutant. You walk over to him and give his sleeve a tug. He looks at you with a raised eyebrow.

"Where exactly are we?", you ask him.

"Nova Eddard PDF Air Base, Northern Flats, Loyola Tertius, kid," he says. He looks away from you. Is that a tinge of red in his cheeks? You're suddenly conscious of your state of dress. You cross your arms over your chest and pout.

“Could you be anymore specific than that?”, you ask him. “Sector, segmentum?”

“Airen Sector, Segmentum Obscurus,” he says, then asks, “Shouldn't you be asleep?”

Physical + Strength: 6 7 = 1 success
“No,” you promptly say, still pouting. “I woke up, obviously.”

You go to walk back to Gelus and see if his conversation with the lieutenant is wrapping up, but then you turn back around and give the adjutant a swift kick to the shin. He cries out, drops his lasgun and clutches his shin in pain. Your bare toes hurt a bit too, but you walk it off. The two conversing men turn at the cry of the adjutant.

“Child, what do you think you're doing?”, Gelus asks. He grabs you by the shoulder. “The condition for staying awake was to behave.”

“You little-,” the adjutant says, having recovered. He's rearing a punch aimed at you. The lieutenant stops him with an arm across the chest.

“The little girl here is more valuable than you, Trooper, stand down.”

“In the truck. Now,” says Gelus. The gloved hand on your shoulder tightens its grip. He steers you towards the back, then makes you climb up. All this time, the other men from the truck had been carrying the sleepers out of the shuttle and into the truck. The other children are sitting on the side benches, still sleeping, leaning on each other's shoulder.

“Lieutenant, please make sure this one is watched over,” says Gelus, then addresses you, “Don't get into more trouble and behave on the ride to the Schola. You'll be seeing me again soon there.”

A barked order, and two troopers get into the back with you and the other children. They close the doors. The truck starts moving.

You try to find a comfortable position to sleep through the ride. You settle on the shoulder of the boy next to you. He looks the same age as you. His face is tanned, his hair is dark and wild. You might say he's cute, but you never met many boys your age on Alamos Primus.

He's thin, so his arm and shoulder are bony, but they're the softest thing to sleep on at the moment. It takes you about an hour to fall asleep, and you wake up occasionally when the truck starts bouncing quite a bit on a rough patch of the route, but you manage to fall back asleep. The last time you wake up, you note that the interior is much cooler than earlier. You probably left the desert flatlands.

Hmm...something is warm and soft... You don't want to get up. You try to roll yourself in the warmth, but you find yourself falling. You hit the ground with a thud. You open your eyes. This is the second time something like this has happened. A pattern seems to be forming.

You take a look around to find yourself in an unfamiliar room. You'd just fallen off the bottom of a bunk bed. The room is fairly spartan, plain off-white walls, a French window, two armoires on either side of the bed, two simple desks against the wall across the bed. A chronograph above the desks reads 0500 standard. You open the window, and by the dim light, you'd estimate two hours to dawn. The morning air is crisp and cold. You can make out a few buildings and many trees in the false light. You're still wearing the bra and shorts from the shuttle. A plain door is across from the window.

You'd take a guess that this is the Schola. You were carried asleep from the truck. This is probably your new dorm room.

You open the armoire to the right of the bunk bed to find nothing. You search the armoire to the left of the bunk bed to find three different outfits with shoes as well. You're currently barefoot. There's also underwear of different types. The catch is that everything is black.

>plain shirt, fatigues
>military-style dress uniform with a skirt(type?)
>plain black suit

>shoe options: combat boots, low heels, laced leather shoes, flats
>Change into new underwear(type?)
>Stockings/pantyhose(?)

There are no accessories. You realize now that you have nothing from home. You could try and fix that later. Gelus said he'd see you soon. You could also ask for clothes better fitting your status as nobility, possibly something with more color.

Just a friendly reminder that you're a pubescent girl.

When you need gear, the Schola will give you gear. It has a full armoury. Vocation wise, your career path will be determined after you graduate, and you'll be sent off for additional training. Whether it be Sororitas initiation, front line experience as a commissar cadet, storm trooper boot camp, Navy OCS, etc.

You elect to don the plain shirt and fatigues. You change into boyshort-length underwear and a plain bra. It's not much different from what you were wearing before, actually. You pull on some socks and lace up a pair of combat boots.

You stand up from lacing your shoes and look up to find your reflection in the mirror in the back of the armoire.

Your neck-length blonde hair is fairly messy. You try to fix it up, but it won't stay, so you give up there. You stand at about 5'2". You still have much more room to grow, being twelve years old and all. You're fairly skinny, but you imagine the Schola Progenium will see to a change in that. Your complexion is fair, your nose a product of generations of noble breeding.

You're dressed. What now? You probably want the explore the Schola by now, you've still got an hour and a half until daybreak, but what do you hope to accomplish with this? Exit through the door or window (you're on the ground floor).

>>
You open the door and walk out into a small hallway. You're hungry, so you'll try to find the refectory for something to eat. Closing the door, you notice the number 087 on a mounted metal plate. The hallway is electrically lit by strips in the ceiling. You briskly walk down the hallway, another door at the end of it.

It opens to the outside. You start to walk around, not knowing where to start. Permacrete walkways lead to other buildings, all of them built with the spires, arches, and columns endemic to the Ecclesiarchy. There are many open spaces, green grass and trees galore. You suppose it's springtime.

After ten minutes of walking around, you can't seem to find anybody. It's before dawn, so you don't expect many people to be up at this time. About five minutes later, you manage to find someone. A young man, he couldn't be more than a decade older than you. He notices you, but goes back to reading a datapad.

You start walking over to him. You tug on the sleeve of his robe. He's a bit young to be a priest, so must be a mere initiate.

“Yes, what do you need child? Isn't it a bit early for you to be up?”, he says.

You're quite tired of being called a child and a kid.

“I am quite new, I just came in with the newest batch. I would like to inquire the location of the refectory, as I have been asleep for quite some time,” you say in your best High Gothic. You hope you remember your lessons well.

The initiate's eyes widen and he stammers back directions likewise in weak High Gothic. You leave him and make your way to the refectory. Only a few menials are there, setting up and lighting the cooking fires. They don't have any real, warm breakfast prepared at the moment, but they offer you a protein drink and a fruit that you don't recognize. You take them graciously. You ask if they might have a map of the schola, which they give to you.

What now? You have an hour before sunrise.
