It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.

Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.

Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions.

You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.

You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.

Eventually the four of you reach the end of the hallway. You are standing in front of a large window. The four of you look down through it, at a large flat building that takes up much of the landscape ahead of you. “Is that?” breathes Niels.

Markos nods. “Yup. The server farm.”
“Seems like we’re a bit… high,” mumbles Niels.

“No,” you say waving your hand. “That’s good. Elda, take a look through your scope, can you see what’s in the building?”

Elda silently pulls the scope off of her sniper rifle and removes her helmet. She presses the scope against her eye like an ancient telescope. “Well,” asks Markos, “What do you see?”

Elda doesn’t respond for a few moments. Then her hand slides down to her side, the scope dangling loosely from her fingers. “Merda…”

“What, what is it?” you ask nervously. You take the scope from Elda and gaze through it, scanning the area.

“Oh my fuck.”

They have a MAHWM.

The rest of your squad looks through Elda’s smart scope, although Markos and Niels don’t grasp the implication of the odd heat signature as quickly as you and Elda did. Elda’s been trained to read those sorts of thermal displays with astonishing accuracy, and you happen to have some experience working with MAHWMs from your previous position as a combat engineer and mechanic.

MAHWM. Mechanized Androform Heavy Weapons Mainframe. Back when you were a techie at NepCol Inc there was a MAHWM in the hangar. Just one. Thing was probably near six meters tall and it’s arms terminated in two incredibly nasty MagMass devices. A set of six anti-infantry railguns arranged like a gatling gun, and a slower but still devastating coilgun grenade launcher. Although the MAHWM never actually went hot during your tenure as a techie, you still went through plenty of drills with the damn thing, prepping it for combat. The guy who piloted it, one C. Weston, could make that thing turn on a dime, to borrow an old Earth expression. However, it was still pretty ungainly, and that was more a testament to Pilot Weston’s skill more than anything else. Also, the MAHWM was always going in for leg and arm servo repairs, most of the maintenance time was spent on those joints, more so than anything else. The only other thing that ever really was a problem was heat management from the Hydrogen turbines, which is why engineering tried to leave it on the umbilical power cord as often as possible.

You relate your experience with MAHWMs back to your squadmates, who listen to you with rapt attention. Eventually, you stop talking. The silence lingers for a few minutes before Markos speaks up. “So, you gotta know some way to take that monster out, right?”
>>
>I mean you gotta, right?
>MAHWMs might be maneuverable, but they’re still huge, and that thing is in the server room, which would further gimp mobility and how much fire power it could throw down. We should try to engage it from multiple directions at once. [ULTRA PINCER]
>I don’t know about this one, but the MAHWM that NepCol had was pretty hardened against EM attacks. However, one massive EM pulse, or several synched up at close range, might be enough to bring it down. [EMP]
>There are a few weak points on the MAHWM, namely the back of the leg joints, that we could exploit. Heavy attacks like Anti-Material rounds if you have them Elda or my tomahawk might be able to cripple it, send it falling down [HIT THE ACHILLES HEEL]

You quickly run through the six or so possibilities you’ve managed to brainstorm in the few minutes since discovering that Reyumbi security forces decided to call in their MAHWM for help with your squadmates. Upon mentioning the possibility of an orbital strike, Elda shakes her head in an emphatic “no”. “What’s stopping us from deep sixing this things with an orbital strike, Elda?”

Elda merely frowns. “Nothing is stopping us in the strictest sense of the word. We could always request an orbital strike, but I do not think we would get one.”

Markos seems somewhat offended at the idea that he can’t call down death from high orbit. “What? Why not?”

“The same reason Steadfast hired us to destroy the servers from the ground, rather than just renting out the Tax Dodger. There is a statute about space to ground warfare that QED Inc takes very seriously. If we called in an orbital strike, there would be repercussions, for StrikeOut and NeoLogos. No, we would never get an orbital strike.”

“So wait,” you say, somewhat confused, “Orbital Strike are verboten, but sending down a bunch of superhuman mercs in drop pods is A-okay?”

Elda shrugs. “Technically, our drop insertions are classified as a hyper-express package delivery service.”

“Huh,” the three of you grunt in unison. You recover first. “So then Niels, what about the stuff I told you about the dummy system?”
>>
Niels looks at you, almost seeming surprised that you want his tactical input. “Well I mean, IF the mom in questio-”

“It’s pronounced Mahwm. It’s a subtle difference.”

Niels continues, “Mom in question,” you decide to drop the issue of pronunciation, “had the dummy pilot system, I’d first need some way to get onto their communications network.”

“Which would take you several hours of work, right?”

“Perhaps, perhaps not. I already hacked into their backup system for the Stock Exchange. Who knows? Might not take long at all. But first I’d need a device that’s already able to access their security network. That’s the key.”

“Hmm,” You say, considering the possibilities, “Well if that’s the case then, I’d like to try and subvert the MAHWM via the dummy system. Assuming there is one.”

“And if there isn’t,” asks Markos.

“I’m almost positive that the MAHWM is on umbilical power. If we cut power to the entire server room, that could completely deactivate the MAHWM. Or we could just cut the umbilical cord off too. Either one would work. Even if the turbines are available to provide back up power, it’d still take time for them to heat up.”

“Okay,” says Niels, nodding slowly, “So which one are we going to do? Keep in mind I can’t hack anything that’s completely powered off. Not like that would matter though.”

>Which one?
>Go out and find a Reyumbi comm device so Niels can access the tactical network
>Find the power line to the server room and cut that shit
>Head to the server room directly. Deal with the umbilical cord from there
>Comm into the Tax Evader anyway and ask about emergency extraction and good stuff like that.

"What about getting into one of their armories or motorpools? We're already in their system, right? We could use their radios/computers and the firepower for this. Even a police cruiser would be tied into defense networks, right?"

Find the power line to the server room and cut that shit
Since our employers hired us to attack their own facility, we should have access to the plans right?
>>
>>31308770
Well...Niels has proven himself pretty competent.

Definitely not gonna ask for a orbital strike. But we SHOULD tell our employers things just got super complicated. Maybe not now, but later.

As for what do we do...I say let Niels do his thing. He's proven useful so far, so let's trust him again.
>>
>>31308770
I don't think cutting the power to the server room will be very easy at all, since that room is the lifeblood of the company it probably has at least half a dozen backup power generators scattered around the area in addition to how ever heavily protected the main line is. And heading into the room to sever the cord in person means that Momma gon fuck us with her railguns. Therefore:

>Go out and find a Reyumbi comm device so Niels can access the tactical network

At least as a primary approach. If that doesn't work then that means its time to cut the cord.
>>
>>31308770
>> Head to the server room directly. Deal with the umbilical cord from there
With the idea that Elda uses her awesome sniper rifle to try shooting it out.
>>
>>31308770
>>31308708
>Go out and find a Reyumbi comm device so Niels can access the tactical network
Observe the guard patrols, set up an ambush for one of em. They should have access to the comms network.

Also, ask about this "emergency extraction" thing. Do they send in a HVOL or whatever they're called to pick us up in a hot zone?
>>
>>31308898
To be clear, Steadfast is employing you guys right now. (Well, the issue of who you actually work for during missions is actually a legally murky one, as it is designed to be) And the facility you are attacking is the Xuanzang or whatever Sector Stock Exchange, run by Reyumbi Corp, which is a separate entity from Steadfast. So while you do have the floor plans at least, you don't know where the power cord is specifically.

>>31308883
Niels is in their backup system, not their Security Network. Also, most vehicles and sundry do not have automated or remote weapons firing capability, unless it's a drone. And using a police cruiser to execute an orbital strike, even if it's one of their own, is still a massive no no.

Writing.

“I’m still a fan of this hacking idea,” you say, grinning in spite of the seriousness of the situation, “Let’s see if we can’t find a comm unit. It should probably be a commanding officer’s one. Do you think that might help Niels?”

Niels shrugs. “It can’t hurt. They might have access privileges a normal officer wouldn’t have.”

“D’you think that any of the guys we fragged in the office building would have a comm suite we could use,” asks Markos.

You and Markos sprint back to the area to check. Unfortunately, all of the units are a little too badly damaged to be of any use, due to all of the explosions. Running back to the other two members of your squad, you quickly report your findings. Niels nods. “I can’t say I’m too surprised.”

You nod before turning your attention to the elevator doors against the wall. The terminal on the wall is dead, deactivated, probably as a security precaution. You sigh, and wedge your tomahawk in between the two doors. Eventually you pry it open wide enough to fit your fingers in, and you push the doors open. Turning back around you see the rest of your squad staring at you. Their helmets mask their faces, but you’re pretty sure they're impressed. Pulling out your descender, you clip it to the elevator cable. “Going down?”

You make your descent, followed by the rest of your squad. After descending a few floors, your feet lightly touch the top of the elevator. You comm up to the rest of your squad, informing them of the blockage. Once all four of you have put your feet down, you get to work, and quickly remove the top hatch of the elevator. The four of you drop into it silently. From the fact that the lights are on, you can assume that Reyumbi has only cut off power or elevator access to the floor you were on, not the rest of the building. You check the elevator terminal, which states that you’re on ground floor right now. Niels is about to hit the door open button, but you swat his hand away.

“Elda. Check the area.”

Elda quickly removes her scope once more and scans the hallway outside. “We’ve got signatures.”

“How many?”

“Four.”

“In relation to us?”

“Walking away from the server room, backs are turned to us right now.”

“Alright guys,” you say, waving your squad back from the door, “I’ll handle this one with hand to hand. We don’t want to risk alerting the MAHWM to our presence. Especially when we’re not being protected by server stacks it wouldn’t want to shoot to shit.”

The rest of the squad nods as you carefully pry the doors of the elevator open. You don’t even have time to stick your head into the open when you hear a roar of alarm from down the hallway. Cursing to yourself, you stop yourself from stepping out into the open. You suppose they left someone facing towards the rear to watch their six. However, that all academic as you pull out your pirate gun and switch out the Cannonball for a GROG. Your fingers fumble slightly, and it takes you a half second longer than it normally would. This half second makes a great deal of difference, as the security squad opens fire down your hallway blindly.

Scowling with irritation at how badly your stealth attack went wrong, you stick the pirate gun out around the corner of the doorway and fire blindly down the hallway. There is a loud poomf sound, followed by hissing. The gunfire peters off almost immediately. Scowling to yourself, you glance down the hallway once more.

Three of the enemy security officers are lying on the ground, unconscious. The fourth was just outside of the effective range of the GROG, and is standing back, gun at the ready. Deciding that now is as good a time as any to work out your frustrations, you take out your tomahawk and equip your shield.

The security officers gets off a few quick shots as you blitz up the corridor, her gun raising another ruckus as you close the distance. The shots ding futilely off of your shield, the shock absorbers turning the force into a series of light bumps. You execute a brutal upbraid on the officer, and the hall falls silent once more.
>>
>>31311226
The point was that we spent money on something that we could've achieved the same effect with by throwing grenades manually.

Standing over your defeated enemy, the rest of your squad runs up next to you. “I hope that wasn’t the squad leader,” remarks Elda.

Niels shakes his head. “Doubt it. Look at the markings on that one guy’s uniform.”

He points at one of the unconscious guards and you nod quickly. You remove the guard’s helmet and hand it over to Niels. Niels plugs his tablet into the helmet and gets to work. Almost immediately, he speaks up on the squad comm channel. “Guys. Guys. We’re going to have to find a more defensible position or something. This helmet is a beacon for security teams in the area. If we want to do this hack, I’m going to have to deactivate the GPS first.”

Not even the same effect, even. We're better at throwing grenades manually. The pirate gun won't give us a positive modifier at all. True, there's no negative modifier, but that also gives the issue of the chance that it'll explode in our hands, much more likely then their thrown counterparts, anyways.

“We need to find a defensible position until Niels can get the helmet to stop broadcasting our position to the whole damn facility. Anywhere likely nearby?”

The squad pauses for a moment while they review their tactical maps. “Well,” says Markos, “The server room would provide good cover, and everyone already knew we were going there anyway.”

“Course we’d have to deal the the MAHWM if ever we gave it a clear shot.”

“There is a guard room not too far from here,” says Elda, “That could serve us well.”

“I’m not sure if either of those locations would be a good idea,” worries Niels, “Especially since both of them would allow Reyumbi sec to use heavier munitions against us.”

“The MAHWM I can understand,” concedes Elda, “But what’s wrong with the guard room?”

Niels points at one of the downed Reyumbi guards. “They have grenades. Closed environment with lots of way to ricochet thrown weapons? No, I’d rather we were in a more open environment, where people can’t as easily get the drop on us.”

“Like where?” asks Elda, irritated.

“There’s a loading bay not too far from here. An open environment with les routes for the enemy to sneak up on us from. And there’s a operations box where I can work on hacking the security net in peace and quiet.”

“Relatively speaking that is,” Niels corrects upon the looks the three of you give him.

That was for the server farm. I don't know if there are hallways large enough to fit it through to get to the loading bay.

“I think Niels has the right idea by heading to the loading bay. It’s not that far away from the server farm, and we’ll have a commanding view of the room. Besides, it’ll finally be a chance for you to put your sniper rifle to good use Elda.”

“I already ha-”

You cut Elda off. “I know, but a cavernous loading bay would be a much better venue for you than some office, don’t you agree?”

Elda nods, and only slightly grudgingly. The four of you make your way to the loading bay, where you find yourselves looking up at a massive skeletal frame with a device on rails on top, not unlike a claw machine. There is a control box at the very top of this structure, the thick steel looks reassuringly bullet proof. There are a large number of steel shipping containers, probably to keep the security forces of the Reyumbi Stock Exchange well supplied. Your mind races at the possibilities. It would be a bit crude, but you’ve always wanted to weaponize gravity. Before you can even point out the structure, Niels is already ascending the staircase up to the upper tier, helmet and tablet in hand. You quickly follow him, Elda and Markos trailing behind you.

Niels and Elda take their places in the control box, Elda smashing out the glass to make room for her sniper rifle. You glance at Markos, who shrugs. “Not much we can do from up here, yeah?”

You grunt and nod. “Yeah. We might be more effective on the ground. Still one of us might want to stay up here to provide close range protection for those two.”

Markos shrugs. “Your call. You seem to be making most of them on this mission.”

>What’s your call?
>You and Markos stay on the ground and work together in tandem, while Elda provides overwatch support.

I just caught up. I think the safest place would have been the guard station, they have ammunition there right?

Otherwise the server room, where we play cat and mouse with MAWHM. Right now we are giving it a "commanding view of the area, as well as a lot of mobility" and basically bending over with our anuses ready.

“Alright Markos, you stay up top, I’ll be on the ground.”

Markos looks slightly taken aback. “Alright if you say so. But risky if you ask me.”

You wave his concerns away. “I’ll be fine. I think.”

Markos snorts. “Elda’s gonna have some choice words for you. Welp, on your own head be it.”

You shrug. Honestly, her words aren’t nearly going to ruin the fun you’ll have with opening up all of those crates. There’s gotta be some sweet sweet loot in there. As Markos ascends the Staircase you get to work on tomahawking open some of those crates to see if there’s anything fancy inside.

The first few crates don’t have anything much more interesting than crates of dumb ammo. You get that shit for free on the Brick, but you decide to refill anyway. It’s not like it can hurt to have some extra, right? Hacking open another crate you find yourself looking at a large number of stock quality body armor kits. Again, nothing exciting and nothing worth hauling back to the Brick. You suppose there might be more interesting cargo at a research base or something, rather than a hypertrophied security detail.

Sighing to yourself, you step out of a shipping crate just as Elda announces a contact over the squad channel. Apparently, there’s a squad of five who just entered the loading bay from a door on the opposite side of you. Three of them are toting assault rifles, one has an LMG, and the third seems to be carrying a CQC package much like your own, albeit with a sword. There are huge labyrinthine stacks of crates separating you from them, which is probably a good thing. You contemplate how best to reach these interlopers, when a thought occurs to you. Is it crazy? Perhaps. Awesome? Assuredly.

You hop into the crate, brandishing your tomahawk and Shield. “Niels!” you bellow over the squad comm channel, “My stead! She beckons me to Avalon!”

“Wha-?”

“Just take me up in this crate and drop my on top of the security forces.”

“Oh, okay.”

You hang onto the edge of the crate while Niels picks the shipping container up with the lift and swings you around towards the interloping security team. The ride is surprisingly swingy, but you can’t say you’re all that surprised. Niels isn’t a licensed operator of this shit or anything of the nature. Still, you manage to hang on, just barely as Niels lurches you towards what you presume to be the enemy secfors.

“Oh!”

You didn’t like the sound of that oh. And your concern is immediately vindicated by a jarring shock as your shipping container crashes right into another at the top of a large tower of such containers. As the tower begins to take leave of it’s center of gravity, you take leave of the container.

“NIEEEEE- gyah fuck.”
>>
That the best you can summon up as you slam into one of the containers that makes up the mountain whose peak you just collided with. Your moans of pain interrupted by the thuds as your roll down the mountain of crates. Eventually you roll over, finally done bouncing down the crates. You take a moment to get your bearings on your tactical map before you pull out your pirate gun.

“Yo Ho Assholes.”

You fire a thermobaric round in a graceful arc over the stack of crates while you make your way behind one of the crates. In a room as large and well ventilated as this one, you don’t have too worry too much about asphyxiation. The thought of a high explosive sending steel shrapnel every way on the other hand…

You’d rather not contemplate it. Once the rumbling is done, you stand up, coughing more from being winded than the heat.

You wait where the air is tolerably hot for the appearance of any survivors. Eventually you hear the clanking of some footsteps against steel.

You raise your shield above your head instinctively. An absurdly heavy mass falls against it. Were you not a superhuman mercenary, it might have even bowled you over. However, your gene modded muscles easily fling the mass aside.

You turn to face your assailant. It’s that one secfor with the shield and sword. He seems pretty pissed.

Well, your descriptions were pretty good in the dream sequence. Based it off that. Where are the eyes on them though? I remember the bear hug was squishing them, but don't have much to go off other than that. So...neckish area? Or closer to the mouth? On stalks or in the body?

You decide to engage this sword bastard in some cautious CQC. You mean, he was able to climb on top of all of those crates despite being exploded. You wouldn’t put much past him. Clearly we’re dealing with a hardcore motherfucker here. You need to bait him out into the open, where Elda can finish him off at range. You’re not sure how well you can handle yourself against such a brutally hard ass.

You raise your shield in a defensive posture, and the two of you start circling around one another. The security officer sends a few test swings your way. The micro chainsaw blade hidden in the edge of the sword fails to find any purchase on your shield. Not that there was much force behind the attack. On the next attack you push back a bit with your shield. The opposing security officer’s sword clatters to the ground.

You lower your shield slightly and stare at your opponent. Clearly this guy used up all of his strength not dying in the thermobaric blast. And climbing on top of that crate to ambush you. You stare at the opposing officer for a few seconds before sighing, and raising your tomahawk for the coup-d'etat.

As the officer’s head bounces away across the loading dock floo you wonder what you should do next.

Oh yeah, on the nat 30 issue.

It's really easy for me to use a nat 3 to cause all sorts of miserable pain and failure. Failure is pretty easy to write. There are about a million ways for things to go horribly wrong.

Nat 30s on the other hand. Well, not everything that we roll for can really have an epic, mind boggling success, now can it? That's why I think should you guys ever roll a nat 30, I'll give you the option to "put it in the bank" to use later, when I can properly reward you with something suitably epic and awesome.

Nice. What were the requirements for activating Grit Mode again? Just a roll announcing it or what?
>>
>>31315714
I would definitely be okay with that, and can actually understand your reasoning why.

Cool plan, Fall Guy. I assume this wouldn't count for people who constantly roll for no reason, obviously.

I believe it was on a roll of a 26 or greater. Grit Mode can activate on an attack, while rolling to recover from some sort of injury, or if an anon gets a 26+ while explicitly calling for a grit check.

Anyway, last update for tonight. Next thread we finish Capital Shock.

While I write, how are things going for you guys with the new system? I know I've already asked that, but if you missed last thread or whatever, I'd like to hear your opinions.

Rather, the revamped version of the current system, where more of the impetus is put on you guys for coming up with action sequences, and they are comparatively shorter, 3-4 actions instead of the older 5-10
>>
>>31315896
Oooh, right right.

Well I haven't noticed too much difference beyond the lack of long action chains. Which is good, because it means we need less 'good' rolls to succeed at doing shit.

I like that you balance the failures we get on some actions, though. Like
>Fail throwing Grog bomb
>Just move in and chop
and
>Fail doing container entrance
>Just blow shit up.

It's sad our entrance rolls always seem to fuck us up, but it's nice to see that we can still succeed if one action goes bad.
>>
>>31315825
So: Bullet-proof quick-set foam. What tech tier would this be?
>>
You decide to multitask like a champion and dig through a few of the toppled crates while comming in with your squad mates. Markos is the first to speak. “Holy shit dude. Holy shit.”

“What is it?” you ask, nonplussed.

“Dude. Remind me not to challenge you to a fist fight. What the fuck was that?”

“What the fuck was what?” you ask again, even more confused.

“You split his fucking shield man. Elda saw the whole thing happen.”

You turn around and look at the defeated security officer. Sure enough, his shield is cleave nicely in twain. You’re kind of shocked you didn’t notice the resistance when your tomahawk went through the hardened ceramic. That stuff is practically bullet proof. Staring down at your arm in shock you turn towards the control box where the rest of your squad is situated and shrug. “Dunno. Guess I just Hulked out.”

“Hulked out?”

“Oh, they were some pretty terrible movies we watched back in earth culture class. A scientist got irradiated and would turn green and muscular whenever he got angry.”

“That makes no sense whatsoever.”

“Yeah, right?” you reply as you dig through yet another shipping container. Honestly, you’re not really being blown away by what you’re finding thus far. Seems like they really don’t bother with the more exotic or exciting weaponry out here in the sticks. Eventually you turn your attention to Niels. “Hey buddy. How are we doing with that hacking the security network thing?”
>>
“Ivan, are you annoyed at me?” Asks Niels somewhat defensively.

“A little. I’m still a bit sore after getting rammed into a stack of shipping containers man. What the hell? I could have been seriously injured.” You reply waspishly.

“Sorry Ivan. I’m not really a deft hand when it comes to operating heavy machinery I’ve never used before in my life.”

“Yeah,” you concede, “yeah I suppose so. I’m just a little so- oh hey.”

You stop talking about how sore you are upon discovering a small container labeled “Thunder Thump 9000”. You’ve been thinking about picking up one of those peizoelectric knuckles for a while now, but the time never seemed right. Well, seems like fortune has smiled upon you now. Clipping the container to your tactical rig you also snatch up the scabbard and sword from the defeated security officer. The blade is designed like a cavalry saber of the eighteenth century. Seems like just the sort of thing Lord John Churchill would deign to use. Smiling at your find, you palce the scabbard and blade onto your tactical rig as well. Even if you never figure out how to use swords all that well, this would still be a cool addition to your wall or something.

Walking towards the control box where the rest of your squad is located you comm in with Niels once more. “Hey man. I was wondering. How goes the hacking?”

“Pretty good,” says Niels distractedly, “I’m almost onto their net. Nearly busted the encryption wide open. Shouldn’t be but another five, ten minutes.”

“Awesome.”

You take a seat on crate of bullets, and wait for Niels to either tell you he’s done, or Elda to shout that there’s been another contact.
>>
>>31316068
Hmm, probably high tier 1 or low tier 2. It's mostly the fact that I assume this is some sort of largely aerated substance that quickly expands in size. Sort of like a silly string cover deal.

For perspective, Ivan is about half way to two thirds of the way up the tier 1 tech tree.

Once he reaches the top of Tier one and completes the major story line for this Tier, I'm thinking a short [Read six months to a year] timeskip during which nothing much changes in terms of character relationships and Ivan just earns money. Then we use the total sum of credits and but Ivan his new Tier 2 equipment and augmentations.
>>
>>31316147
>>31316162
Heh. Damn, right through the shield. Feels good to show off a bit.
>Thunder Thump
Hell yes! I forgot what the hell that does, but I remember wanting it!

Must be cuz it's so late.
Anyway, very nice work so far, everyone I think. We lived without any casualties through the first two parts, now if we can just get through this last part without getting stomped on...
Also, good thread Fall Guy. How do YOU think we're doing so far anyway?
>>
>>31316207
Electric punches for silent takedowns. Has an addition that adds a seismic blast to it.
>>
>>31316202
>I'm thinking a short [Read six months to a year] timeskip during which nothing much changes in terms of character relationships
It would seem weird for the relationships he's developed with his fellow mercs to not advance in any way during that time when we've been playing for just over a month and already made friends and whatnot
>>
>>31316252
I assume he means when we reach the top of tier 1, we'll have somewhat stabilized with who our friends are, and who we are fond of.

I dunno about NOTHING changing, but for the most part, just getting better seems fitting.
>>
>>31316252
Seconded. I assume youll be doing that though so us players dont bitch and moan if you do advance relationships during the time skip and we dont like the way youve done it

I don't remember reading that though.
but still, can't help but want to crack though Elda's ice cold exterior and delve deep in her creamy soft insides.
Im a sucker for the tsun
>>
>>31316207
I think you guys are doing pretty well, all things considered. The rolls have been really quite good this mission, and you have adapted to the new system of doing things quite well.

>>31316252
I assume there will probably be further incidents that Cy or Niels or someone will reference that happened over the course of the timeskip. However, I don't think there will be any noteworthy romantic developments. We'll just say that there were no events that pushed any of the romantic relationships forward,
>>
>>31316371
And I still want to see if we can tempt Val into going for something more serious than frequent hook ups. Pretty sure those goals are not mutually exclusive, but I suppose we'll see.
>>
>>31316371
she won't be tsun when we're finished with her, along with Valkyrie helping
>>
>>31316399
I thought the general concensus was for Valk to become Mentor/fuckbuddy/bro.
>>
>>31316449
pretty much, and regardless of what relationships Ivan pursues, she's going to be apart of them, and Elda has already braved the Valkyrie once, so things should be swell once we can crack her exterior and help her with her emotional issues
>>
Wanted to ask, the goo in the drop pods, is it dangerous to us? like med/long-term?
>>
>>31316505
Probably. I wouldn't be surprised if higher-paid mercs shell out the extra cash for safe impact gel
>>
IMPORTANT!
Can we pretty please with a cherry on top buy the gauntlet thing that shoots darts and cameras and shit.
I feel that it would be incredibly useful throughout pretty much every mission. I think I remember It being pretty cheap too
>>

>I'm thinking a short [Read six months to a year] timeskip during which nothing much changes in terms of character relationships and Ivan just earns money. Then we use the total sum of credits and but Ivan his new Tier 2 equipment and augmentations.

Man, timeskips are kind of lame.

However, when you consider transit and deployment time, a 2-3 month timeskip to earn a BIG job, and chillax on the rock after a big score, and wait for all the shit you ordered to be delivered before heading out for the next drop - the equivalent of a sunset, beach, and booze merc-vacation - it makes significantly more sense
>>
>>31316563
IIRC it was something like 9k, so not cheap, but useful yes
>>
>>31316371

I thought Svenja was the creamy one.
>>
>>31316505
As long as it doesn't touch you, you're fine. Still, a lot of mercs do end up getting a gene mod specific to protecting them from the impact gel's effects, if only because it's on the back burners of all of their minds
>>
>>31316634
Heh, I always assumed it was half a joke on your part. Dying via a slow burning toxic gel seems like a pretty poor way to end the quest, after all.
>>
>>31316667
Only on a 3, and even then, something would have to puncture through the drop pod as it's descending to trigger a roll.

I don't think I've ever seen you mildly angry at anyone yet. Except maybe for the few arguments we've had with one another. But those are to be expected.
