Welcome to witch quest. Your name is Mildred and you are a witch; a full blooded, broom flying, potion making, spell casting witch. Well sort of, you would be one if your master hadn't gone and ditched you, so technically you’re just an apprentice witch for the moment and fairly young as well, Sixteen years-old.

In a day and age where the control of the Imperial church goes unchecked being in the witch craft business is risky work, but that doesn’t bother you much. This is what you would like to say but due to your rotten luck life can’t be that easy. After entering a spooky forest your party soon attracted the attention of a Lich, however this one was batshit insane. He attacked your party and kidnapped Jodie claiming he needed her for a ritual, you eventually fought your way to where he took Jodie and managed to rescue her. After beating the Lich you had to make a decision of what to do with his apprentice but as it turns out she was willing to join your group with her master’s blessing (Somehow he wasn’t completely destroyed).

It has been close to two weeks since your journey started and the wait is starting to get to you. Randolf still refuses to tell you exactly where you’re head which has now evolved into Jodie asking ‘Are we there yet?’ every two minutes.

Leaning against the interior of the cart Jodie asks “Are we there yet?”

Sighing Randolf replies “Not yet, just be patient”

“Are we there yet?”

“Nope”

“Are we there yet?”

Looking up from his map Randolf says “Actually, yes”

“Are we there y-“ Blinking in surprises Jodie says “Wait, what?”

Stopping and getting of the cart, your group looks around the empty field you’re in.

Turning around Jodie says “Are we lost?”

Snorting Randolf says “An Adventurer is never lost, only on the path to his next triumph”

Raising an eyebrow you ask "Does that mean we're lost?"

Chuckling Sasha walks over "Normally yes but Randolf seemed to know where he was going so we should be in the right place" She turns to Randolf "and where would that be exactly?"

Clearing his throat Randolf pulls a book out of his bag and flips through it "Well according to this, we should be near the old ruins of Witchedge"

Speaking up Tam says "Oh, I know about that place. It used to be the capital city of the magical empire, well before the event happened"

Looking at Tam you ask "What event?"

Tam gives you a confused look "You don't know? but every kid learns about it"

Putting your hands on your hips you say "Hey, I didn't exactly get to go to school when I was younger, in fact this has been the lost I've spent with anyone besides my master"

Stammering Tam says "O-ok well a long time ago one of the emperors of the old kingdom by the name of Nero went a little crasy with the magic and he unleashed a plague on the world. The sky went dark, crops withered and died, and it was always snowing. A large chunk of the worlds population died out. The people eventually got sick of it and banded together under the direction of the Church, with the Churches help the people turned on the Kingdom. Every large settlement was destroyed except Witchedge which just disappeared. I thought that was just a myth though, why are looking for Witchedge"

Giving you the biggest grin Randolf says "We're going to loot it"

You roll your eyes, typical "So where are we going first?"

Turning his attention back to his book Randolf says "Well first we have to go through the Canon of doom.... then the forest of endless night.... then we get to the lake of the whispering dead. This Sounds cheery, well any ways we should get going"

With Randolf taking the lead you all follow him away from the cart.

Slowing to match Tams Pace you ask "So, can you tell me more about this event"

"Oh ok, what do you want to know?"

"Well first tell about this Nero guy"

"Lets see... According to what I've read Nero was a real crazy person, always trying new magical experiments. Often causing some problem but the people were afraid of him so no one did anything, it wasn't until the event the people went against him."

"Oh, ok but do you know what happened to cause it?"

"Not really, the Church keeps that stuff under lock and key. They're afraid someone might try it again but what ever it was Nero didn't care what happened to the world"

"Hmmmm So it was the church that lead the people against him?"

"Yep, that's why the Church is so influential today, when something goes wrong the people fall back on them"

"And what happened to Witchedge?"

"No one really knows, some say that it vanished from the earth because Nero didn't want anyone knowing what he learned from his experiments. Others say that the Church destroyed it so that there wasn't even a brick left"

Letting this digest you continue walking.

Walking on you decide to take in the sights around you which to say the least isn't much. You're standing in a flat field which looks like nothing grows here except for the grass, the field continues to stretch on farther then you can see and it doesn't look like it changes at all.

Speaking up you say "Hey Randolf, I though we were looking for a canon, what are we doing in this field?"

Looking over his shoulder Randolf says "No idea but the book says this is where we were supposed to start so I guess we should keep-" before he can finish his sentence Randolf trips forwards and disappears from sight.

Standing there for a moment your group processes what just happened and Sasha yells out "RANDOLF"

Suddenly his head pokes out of thin air, giving you all a smile he says "Guys, you need to see this" before pulling his head back

Walking forwards your group follows Randolf and sees the landscape change completely. Rather than a field that stretches on, the field continues a little on and then descends into a great canon.

Moving around the edge of the canyon you see that there is only one point of entry into it, which your party is standing near. You can't see that far into the canyon but you can tell that it twists and turns through out the path, the walls always seem to stay the same distance from each other the whole way.

Returning to the group you tell them of what you saw.

Scratching his chin Randolf says "Seems like the only way to get where we're going is straight through. Lets get going"

Descending down you eventually make to the mouth of the canyon and head inwards. Soon you reach a part with a message carved into the stone.

Reading it out loud Randolf says "Those that don't wish to die turn back now, hmm seems like we're in the right place"

From up the path you hear some rocks shift.

Frowning Sasha says "That's never good, I'm going to check it out"

Before Sasha heads off you say "Wait!" and run up to her.

Turning around she asks "What do you want?"

"I'm coming with you"

Narrowing her gaze she says "You sure? Might be dangerous"

Walking forwards you say "If there's one thing my master's taught me it's the buddy system"

Giving you a confused look Sasha walks after you. Reaching a curve in the canyon the noise gets louder, sticking to wall you and Sasha inch forwards and peak around the side. Standing in the middle of the path are two fat green creatures wrestling each other over what looks like a stick.

Making a 'tick' noise Sasha says "Goblins, nasty little creature. But it's kinda strange to see them in a place like this, usually they live in forests where they can easily make hives.

Pulling out her sword she says"We should probably take care of them"

Hugging the wall you and Sasha slowly move towards the small creatures who are too distracted to notice you. Once you're close enough Sasha dashes to the other wall and creeps on one of the goblins, swinging her sword she beheads it and the small creature slumps to the floor. The other goblin grabs the stick and hurries over to your wall with a triumphant smile, his smile drops when he turns to gloat at his comrade and notices that he no longer has a head. Before he can do anything however you strike and leave your dagger in his skull, pulling it free the goblin falls to the floor.

Wiping her sword Sasha says "That was easy but goblins rarely go out in such tiny numbers, there's going to be more around"

If there's a bunch around we probably won't be able to find and kill them all in a reasonable amount of time. Let's just go back and tell the group there's goblins around.

You and Sasha head back to where everyone is waiting and tell them of what you found.

Thinking for a moment Randolf says "Goblins being here is strange but we should be able to handle them, the best option would be to just avoid their hive but that might be hard in a space like this"

Moving forwards your group passes the bodies you left and continue further into the canyon. Soon the path begins to get steeper and the canyon over head starts to close. Before long you can't see, stopping your party lights some torches and moves on. After a little more walking you come across a large wall ending the path, there's a mouth in the wall that leads further down.

Looking at the book and then back up Randolf says "Looks like we need to head underground"

Descending into the cave you end up in a circler room with three paths leading in different directions.

Looking at the book again Randolf says "It doesn't say which one we're supposed to take. We'll have to guess"

As your group stands there Sasha turns to Randolf and asks "So which way do you think we should go?"

Scratching his head Randolf says "Hmmm I would say right"

Clapping her hands she says "Well it looks like we're heading left" and walks down the left path

As your group hurries after her she winks at you "Listen kid, if you had to choose between walking somewhere blind or following Randolf, pick walking there blind. I swear if that guy doesn't have a map glued to his face he would get lost all the time"

Walking down the hall Randolf motions for you to stop. "Do you here that?"

Straining your ears you hear a small clicking sound. Continuing down the hall slowly the noise gets louder and louder, suddenly a crack appears in the wall a few feet in front of your group. The crack grows bigger and the wall breaks apart, walking out of the dust is a large green creature holding a pickaxe with goblins surrounding his feet.

The creature gives you a confused look "What you do here?"

Clearing your throat you say "Oh, nothing much. We're just passing through. So, what are you doing here"

Hefting the pickaxe so you can clearly see it the creature says "Me digging, make tunnels bigger"

"Oh? and why are you doing that?"

"Big boss say there no room, he want more, so me sent to dig"

"Then we should leave you to it, come on guys" You attempt to pass but the creature stands in your way.

"Me supposed to take anyone back to big boss"

Putting a hand on his shoulder you say "No no no, you don't to do that because we already work for the big boss" turning to your party you say "Isn't that right guys?"

You get a weak reply of agreement

The creature grunts "What job you do for big boss?"

Smiling you say "right now he wants us to get out of this tunnel and make it to the end of the canyon"

Scratching his neck he says "Me no know, sound fishy.."

You drop your smile "Look big guy, if we do get back to doing our jobs the big boss will get mad at us for not working, have you ever seen the big boss when he's mad?"

A look of dread comes across his face "Yes, once, not fun head pictures"

"Ya you see, we don't want that to happen either so we should just leave now"

The creature nods his head "Ya, you leave, good luck on job"

Turning around he starts to dig at the wall again

Backing away slowly you say "We'll leave you to it"

Stopping you say "Oh, by the way what's the fastest way out of hear"

The creature grunts "Take right"

Hurrying down the hall you think of what that could mean. After you're out of ear shot Randolf laughs "Haha I can't believe you talked us out of that, I knew hobgoblins were stupid but this is just to much"

"So that's what that thing was, I had no idea. What's the difference between a goblin and that thing"

"Well a Hobgoblin is as strong as an orc and they can breed quickly like away goblin but at the same time they about as smart as a doorknob"

Eventually you make it to another fork in the road with two paths. One right and one left, listening to what the hobgoblin said you head down the right path. The rest of the trip is uneventful and the path soon begins to ascends, before long you leave the darkness and enter fresh air. Looking around you see that you're on the other side of the canyon, on the path you see a sign on a post.

Walking up to it you read "Death past this point"

Randolf smiles "Yep, defiantly in the right place"

Continuing down the path you soon come across a large forest.

Looking down at his book Randolf says "Looks like this is the forest of endless night"

Sticking together the group enters the forest slowly. Walking deeper the trees over head become thicker and thicker, soon it's as dark as it was in the tunnels.

Stopping Randolf says "So that's why it's called the forest of endless night"

Slapping the back his head Sasha says "Ya, really?"

After walking for a bit you hear movement in the trees. Ducking to the side your group waits to see what's up. Eventually a large spider walks out of the forest and onto the path.

Watching it for a while you notice most of your party is visibly disturbed by the spider.

Sasha shakes her head and mutters under her breath "It had to be fucking spiders", Randolf looks a little woozy, Weston looks as though he might puke, and Rylan bears a slight frown.

A little confused you ask "I thought you guys were adventures, what's the matter"

Weston shakes his head "Did you just see that thing? All those eyes and legs... ew"

Sasha nods "Weston can be a wimp when it comes to these things but even I have to agree. When you fight those things for the first time, well you never forget it"

Sighing, you look back to the spider. It seems to be moving on, once it's long gone your party continues down the pass until you reach a fork in the road with two paths, there's a sign in the middle.

The left one says "Painful death"

The right one says "Equally painful death"

Reading the signs you say "Well, painful death doesn't sound to bad, lets go left"

As your party weakly agrees you take the left path. Walking down the road you feel eyes on you but looking around you don't see anything. Suddenly an arrow flys out and embeds itself in the tree infront of you.

Out of the trees where the arrow came from a woman that has the lower half of a spider walks out flanked by two giant spiders.

Giving you the death stare she asks "What are you doing here?"

Putting down her bow her stare softens a little bit and she chuckles a little "You have wit I give you that, but really what are you doing here?"

Sighing you say "We're adventures and we're looking for the way out of this place, could you give us some directions?"

Blinking her six eyes in surprise the woman says "Adventures? I've never meet those before, what are you doing around here?"

"Actually we're looking for the city of Witchedge and we need to get out of here"

Tilting her head the woman asks "So you're not here to mess with the night mother"

You shake your head "Nope"

"And you want to get out of the forest as fast as possible?"

"Again, Nope"

Tapping her head for a moment she says "Ok I guess I can show you the way out, just as long as you don't touch anything" Turning she starts to walk away.

Hurrying you all catch up with the spider lady, soon the path begins to twist and turn, splitting up multiple times. Thanks to her guidance you make it past this and are soon walking down a straight path again.

Quickening your pace you walk beside the drider "So, what should I call you? You're name I mean"

Looking forwards she says "My name is Deniece"

Blinking in surprise you say "That's... That's rather normal"

Deniece sighs "Ya, tell me about it, all my sisters got cool names but I got stuck with this one"

"Oh well, it suits you. Also, I've never met a drider before, you're kinda cool"

Blushing Deniece says "Thank you but I'm not really anything special. I'm just a forest guard so I'm not that cool"

"Well first drider i've ever meet makes you cool in my eyes"

Blushing even more She clears her throat "Looks like we're here"

Ahead you see the forest open up and light pour in. Waving goodbye to Deniece your party moves toward the exit but before you leave she grabs your arm.

"Wait, can I.. can I ask you favour?"

"Ummm sure what is it"

"Well, can you take me with you?"

Immanently Weston shakes his head "Nope, Nope, sorry, nope"

One of the skulls in Lilth's hair screams "ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT ME?"

"Yes now go back sleep"

"OK"

Weston raises his hands "Hey, the Lich came with an adorable little girl and this one -"

Before he can finish Sasha puts him into a head lock "I'm sorry about him"

Deniece shrugs "We get that a lot"

Turning back to her you ask "So why do you want to come with us any ways"

"Well it's just that in there is so boring, like nothing ever happens. You guys were the first people I've ever seen since I was born and I want to see more of the world"

Thinking for a moment you ask your group "Does anyone have any thing against this besides Weston?"

Everyone shakes there head "I guess you can come"

Beaming Deniece thanks you, turning she tells the spiders with her to tell her everyone she's leaving.

As you watch them walk off Randolf says "We should head out now, we need to make it to the lake before sun down"

Heading down the path with new found companion you all make for the lake.

Nodding she says "Yep, also by the way Weston, you have a spider in your hair"

As Weston has a mini heartattack she laughs "Hahaha just joking, you can calm down"

You can hear Sasha whisper to Randolf "I like her already"

Clearing your throat you say "Anything else?"

"Hmmm well I'm pretty good with my bow and I have night vision but that's about it"

"No magic?"

"Nope, only the Nightmother can do that"

"Oh ok, by the way, do you need to get your stuff or tell your family your leaving?"

Shrugging she says "I didn't really have anything I can't replace at home and I think my family should be cool with me leave. Also, it would be best if I didn't go there directly, technically you're not allow to leave the servos of the night mother"

"So you're a run away?"

Smiling she says "Yep"

Ok, whatever. Turning your head you ask "Oh Lilth I never got around to doing this but what can you do?"

"Well I have my necromancy which allows me to raise a few undead and I have that one spell I used against you but that's about it, Master was the real strong one"

One of the skulls in her hair screams "YEP, ALSO MILDRED, IF YOU'RE EVER IN SERIOUS DANGER GIVE THE PENDANT TO ME"

Giving the skull a confused look you ask "What?"

"NEVERMIND JUST DO IT"

Increasing your pace you catch up with Sasha, Randolf, Weston, and Rylan "So Weston, are you ok with this?"

Giving you a look he says "Of course I'm not ok with letting the Drider we just met join us but if you're asking me if it'll affect me in a fight then you don't have to worry"

Snorting Sasha says "In a fight we don't need to worry already, you're never there anyways"

"Hey, I help plenty"

Eventually you make it up the path and stand at the edge of the lake.

Flipping through the book Randolf says "Apparently we need to swim from the lake to a cave that will lead us to the city but before that we need to kill the guardian"

"Guardian? What guardian?"

Suddenly the the water bulges and a giant creature that looks like a mixture between a whale and a dog jumps onto land.

Closing his book Randolf says "That guardian"

With a roar the creature charges at you.

Looking back at Randolf you say "Ya, I'm not fighting that thing up close" Raising a hand you let loose a lightning bolt which arks across the creatures side leaving a burn mark. This causes the creature to divert it's charge and crash to the side, as it's down you see Sasha, Randolf, and Rylan rush at it accompanied by three skeletons. You see a large arrow and another lightning bolt strike it as begins to raise, finally it gets to it's feet and gives the death stare. It knows you were the first one to hit it, great. Stomping it's feet two of the skeletons are crushed and Randolf barely gets out of the way.

Bending down the creature grabs the last skeleton with it's mouth and crushes, dragging it's feet a little it roars and charges right at you. As the creature barrels towards you your life flashes before your eyes, hmm boring. Raising your hand out of reflex you feel a pressure wave leave it. Suddenly the creatures leg bends in a completely different direction as it was running causing it to crash face first into the floor and skid to a stop. Looking down, it groans in pain.

Technically yes but at the same time it's an ancient guardian charged with keeping people away and you just pissed it off so the charm check would be really high. But if you guy want to try I'm going need some rolls. (90 and above makes it)

As your party crowds around the creature you ask "So what do we do with it?"

Sasha puts her hands on her hips "We should finish it off and get going"

Gasping Tam says "What? No, it's hurt, we should help it"

Snapping at her Sasha says "That's exactly why we should finish it, leaving it like this would only be cruel and taking care of it would take months. We probably wouldn't even be able to do that any ways, it may never be able to use that leg again"

Looking down Tam says "Ya but... I feel bad just killing it off"

Waving your hand you say "Ok, ok, wait on the killing thing, let me try something" Crouching you look at the downed beast right in it's eye "Ok big boy, you're going to calm down now and you're going to listen to me, ok?"

You see it's eyes relax a little "Good boy, now stand up a little"

It's eyes change for calm to a state of panic and it begins to struggle, it must feel the magic you're using on it.

Looking it in the eyes again you say "Calm down, calm down, you don't need to go any where" This causes it to stop struggling and the relaxed feeling to return to it's eyes

Standing up you say "This is the most I can do for it, finish it"

Walking forwards Sasha stabs her sword into the creatures head and it closes it's eyes for the last time.

Clearing his throat Randolf says "Well, that was little more dramatic than I would have liked but good job team"

Turning his attention back to his book Randolf says "Since the guardian is gone now we can easily make it to the cave but it doesn't say anything beyond that so we'll be shooting blind after that point, lets get going"

Walking edge of the lake your group enters the water, leaving the rest of the world behind.

how do we learn new spells? Trial and error, find a grimoire, or is it only learn from a master? I know we learned lightning spontaneously in combat, but that was after watching wild magic girl do it, so technically you could say she taught us.

Don't likes include typos and phrasing, it would be cool if you could take 5 minutes to proofread your post.

Well if you find someone with a spell you don't know then they can teach you it but I think that would take sometime and would consist of a few rolls, also if you find a grimoire you can learn a spell that way but you would also need to kill another magic user to learn it (I should write this down in the rules)

this is a run-on sentence, and is a bit confusing
You could probably write "Struck by the force wave, the creatures leg is taken out from under it, redirecting its charge into the ground."
