Before you can even register what's happening, the beast lifts you into the air by your wrist, then jerks its neck to fling you side to side. You can feel the flesh of your arm stretching, ready to separate but miraculously, your bone keeps your arm attached. Gritting your teeth as hard as you can, you let your entire body fall limp and don't utter a sound as you're jerked through the air like a rag doll. Screaming now would only reward it, like a dog with a squeaky chew-toy.
After a few more swings through the air, your motion is thankfully stopped as it lets you slowly down until your feet are resting on the floor.
The it goes for a run.

You're dragged, flailing behind the monstrosity as it tears its way out through the door frame, blasting a chunk of the plaster away with it as it passes and bounding out into the moonlight night. It's all you can do to keep yourself upright as it runs, desperately trying to run as fast as you can to keep pace with your own arm.

After what feels like a lifetime of horrific pain, though is likely less than a minute, the giant suddenly comes to a complete stop. It's so sudden that you fly past it, almost tearing your own arm off as it pulls you to a stop as well.

Stood before you, spotlighted by a beam of moonlight, the young boy who gave you the box of chocolates all that time ago stands, one hand behind his back, the other waving to you, a shy smile on his face. Transfixed with the new being, the giant dumbly lets go of your arm as its jaws go slack. It takes a step forward, then another. Then bursts into a full charge towards the boy.

He doesn't move. He hasn't even taken his eyes off you, let alone readied himself to avoid the monster. He's moments from death. You're unable to do anything but watch, horrified, as it bears down on him. In your helplessness, you do the only thing you can. You scream.

While the thing is still roaring in anger and confusion, you take the chance to break into a run directly away from it back in the direction you came. Luckily, it seems to have completely lost interest in you and lets you flee.

You keep running hard, making it halfway back to the station before your legs and lungs finally overwhelm you with their protests, and you trip, tumbling to a sprawl on the ground where you rest for a long time, just trying to catch your breath.

"Tha-that was a close one, Loli." The little blond boy appears in the edge of your vision, hovering above you. "P-please... be more c-careful in the future. I-", he fidgets nervously, playing with his own fingers, "I might not be here next time." And then he's gone. You want to make an effort to follow him, at least with your eyes, but your entire body protests that you should just stay perfectly still and rest here.

Several minutes pass before you can finally pull yourself upright into a sitting position.
You're in a field, almost a quarter mile from the station, in near total darkness. You're exhausted and bleeding, and as you sit, you can hear the wildlife of the Zone going about life around you.

You pull the cargo pack off your back, easing it over your maimed left hand, then opening it to rummage inside for the First Aid kit you're sure you bought a couple weeks back. You find it relatively quickly once you start digging further down, and crack it open to find a small collection of basic medical supplies. There's a few gauze sponges and a reel of bandage, so you do your best to press the ragged tooth wounds closed and stem the bleeding. The wrapping isn't exactly neat, but it seems to slow the flow enough for now. A few cuts of sticky tape keep the bandage in place after you let off the pressure.

When you're finished, you close the kit and drop it bag in your bag, slinging it back onto one shoulder as you push yourself upright. You're about to start making your way back to the station when the ambient crickets in your immediate vicinity suddenly go deathly silent, and the brush a few meters away starts gently rustling.

You shake your head authoritatively at him, and he ducks his head, apparently giving in to your request to pursue this no further. You let go and stand up straight, turning to head back to the station. Doggy falls in at your heel, making sure to stay within reach to support you if you need it.
You thank him by gently mussing between his ears as you walk, but you don't need the help.
You're almost back when you realize your pocket has been vibrating at you for some time. You pull your PDA out to find you're getting a call from Ice. You answer it, bringing it to your ear.

"Jesus Christ, girl, answer your phone when someone's calling you! Where are you? You alright? You dead?" As he's finishing his tirade, you step onto the ridge of the hillock overlooking the station. Below you, all the lights in the station are lit, as well as the headlights of the tank on the opposite side of the building. The tank's engine is rumbling, ready to go, and you can see Ice standing inside the entrance, holding his phone up to his ear.

The stream of information shocks him into silence for a few moments, before he weakly replies. "Right, well. How far out are you? We've got the tank ready to come help you out right now."

"No, that's okay. I'm almost back now. Uhh, do you think maybe you should switch those lights off now? Just in case the monster comes back?"

You see him press the phone to his chest while waving to someone with his other hand and shouting something. All the lights shut off at once, followed a moment later by the tank headlights and engine. "Okay. A heads up, Kris is looking pissed. Expect some flak when you get here. See you soon."
He takes the phone away from his ear and your line goes dead.
