It is the year 22XX and Humanity has reached the stars. Alas, even though they have attained the lofty goal of interstellar travel, mankind has yet to conquer it’s baser instincts.Humanity is ruled by ultra-Corporations. Some own continents. Some own multiple worlds. But no matter who you are, everyone is a citizen-employee somewhere. The qualms that beset corporations of the past, copyright infringement, tech theft, still exist. If anything, they are amplified by the scale of the players.Without government to turn to for legal recourse and separated by millions and billions of miles, corporations have turned to less savory solutions to resolve disputes. You are one of those solutions. You are an elite mercenary, also known as a High Impact Public Representative, of the StrikeOut Company, a group of mercenaries who accept contracts and missions from the highest bidder. You are launched out of a spaceship in a drop pod filled with bright orange and highly toxic gel. You crash land into the target’s facilities, make a mess, do your job, and then get the hell out.You are a Fall Guy. You are a Deniable Asset.QM’s Twitter:https://twitter.com/DickishDeadDAQ Master Pastebin with archive links, pastebins, and other miscellania:http://pastebin.com/nNU28gEA
You roll out of your cryoberth and go through the usual motions. Mostly the undulations of your neck as you attempt to suppress nauseated gagging. Damn cryo. Damn cryosickness. Why is it that you had to end up with one of the nastiest possible cases of it? Maybe next time you should bribe the crew to let you stay in the oxygenated sections of the cruiser, so you don’t have to deal with this again. Maybe. You close your eyes and take a few deep breaths, steadying yourself. The last thing you want to do is lose whatever is still in your damn stomach all inside of your berth. Thinking back to the events prior to entering stasis you are grateful that you didn’t try to share the berth with Valk. You’re pretty sure sharing this berth with another person, and all the wriggling that would entail, would have you yawning in 256 colors.Taking another few moments to compose yourself, you finally crawl out of the berth to see the other three squadmates and the two senior mercs, all of them already well on their way to covering up their skintight enviro suit. You can't help but take a moment to admire Elda’s dulce culo as she bends over to pick up something from her duffle bag. Skin tight enviro-suits really are a wonder. Taking a moment to get yourself somewhat dressed, pulling on a pair of jeans, you reach down to pick up a shirt before groaning in disappointment. Damn thing’s got a huge rip right in the abdominal area. What a downer. You really liked that shirt. Sighing, you put it back in your duffle bag and hoist it onto your shoulder. Your envirosuit should be decent enough anyway.Darius and Valkyrie lead the way out of the cryobay, bickering in a friendly manner about something. >Walk and talk?>and if so with whom and what about?

Random question:Now that we have a BART, would it be possible for us to rent it out to our fellow Mercs? Not sell it, of course, but merely rent out its use from time to time, when we're on drops when a BART isn't feasible or appropriate (the transportation can't haul the BART along, it's a sneaking mission, etc.)If we're worried about our fellow Mercs trashing it, then we could set up a system where any damage to the BART = an additional compensation fee.

You turn to the rest of your fellow rookies, and begin to extoll the myriad virtues of old Earth cultural appreciation via the consumption of popular cinematic media. Of course, not in such florid terms. Mostly you just talk about how fucking sick the scenes are… so long as you can get past the ancient special effects. Eventually Niels interrupts you to ask a question. “So wait Ivan, you keep on telling us to look past the special effects. What ARE the special effects? Early CGI?”You shake your head. “Nah. I think it was mostly animatronics and puppets and goo.”“Wait, like Pinocchio puppets?”“Yeah,” you reply, worry rising in your chest. Markos snorts. “I think I’m starting to see why you were asking us to suspend disbelief.”“I swear,” you respond urgently, “I swear, with the right atmosphere, it’ll scare the shit out of you. We just need somewhere dark and col-”As thought occurs to you, and you look over at Elda. “Hey I’ve got it. K-Level. In the abandoned observatory room. That would be the perfect venue!”Elda looks surprised. “Would it? But it’s so cold.”You slap a fist into your hand. “Exactly! And the movie is set in the arctic or antarctic or whatever! Perfect venue really. It’s the perfect way to get in the mood.”You wince a little at that turn of phrase, but no one else seems to have noticed. Shrugging to yourself, you just count your lucky stars that Markos is too busy thinking about entering the forbidden K-level rather than making his usual lewd implications. Just then the four of you walk up to the airlock. You are the first to go through. As the bio-scanners make sure you’re not bringing in micropox or something else equally nasty onto the Brick, you consider what you should do.

You shrug and wave good bye to your fellow squaddies as you step out of the airlock. You’ve got money to make. And considering this was a mission that was meant for a higher ranked merc, you figure that there’s quite a chunk of credits heading your way, let alone any additional bounties that have been processed, and your long term windfalls from Elda’s trading. Yes, yes. You think you can afford it. You make your way to the commercial section of the station, your map showing you the way to the local donut shop. You’d hardly call it a bakery or whatever, considering it’s just reheated and rehydrated frozen donut cubes, but you can’t think of anywhere else Svenja would get them from. Standing in the warm and friendly shoppe, you can’t say you're surprised she seems to enjoy coming here so much, or at least you assume. It’s the kind of friendly and non-threatening place you could see you timid advisor becoming fond of. You pause, considering the menu as a friendly woman wearing an anachronistic hair net stands behind the counter. They’re really pushing the old timey feel here, aren’t they?
Now which type of donut did she like? To you they all kind of blur together into a swirl of carbs of various complexity, but you know some people are passionate about the issue. Svvenja being one of them, apparently. Eventually it clicks. “Right! How about a half dozen creme filled donuts, and another dozen of… oh I dunno. Surprise me I guess.”The counter lady nods and beams at you in a matronly fashion. “Of course young man! They’ll be right up.”A few minutes later and the box is in your hands. “That’ll be 120 credits.”Guh! Jesus. It’s not like it’s that much in the grand scheme of things, but you think you can guess why Svenja is so interested in your mission payouts. These doughnut bastards are expensive. You pay for the pastries and make your way to Svenja’s office. Standing in front of the door, you wonder how best to make your almost entirely unannounced entrance. You figure any stress it might cause her will be ameliorated by the gift of donuts. Might be a good chance to ham it up.>Entrance!

You lean in the direction of the door, listening carefully. Then you ping Svenja.>Hey, just got back. You free to talk business? You smile with satisfaction as you hear an eeping noise from behind the door. Somehow that’s deeply satisfying, even if it isn’t a challenge to get out of her. A few seconds, and what might be calming breaths, later she pings you back.>Oh of course Ivan. Please, I just got your pay for the mission. You wait a few minutes before pinging her back. >Awesome. Could you do my a favor and get the door? My hands are rather occupied. You grin in anticipation as your hear her get up, and stand back from the door, getting ready to pop the top of the donut box. As the door opens your lips split, beaming with your ceramicy whites.“Why hello Iva-”The “a” in your name does not terminate in an “n”. Instead it just drags on in a long and low sigh of… something. Svenja’s eyes only remained locked with yours for a few seconds before you decide to get onto the next part of your routine and flex. Her eyes fall away and begin to examine your torso and arms greedily, a furious crimson blush rising up her neck and ears and onto her cheeks. That’s when you choose to pop the top.Svenja’s voice catches and both of her hands rise up to cover her shocked mouth. Your brow furrows slightly in confusion. You know she likes them, but they’re still just donuts aftera-Svenja reaches out and yanks you and the donuts into her office, the door slamming shut behind the two of you.>Response?

So much work to a simple post.
You stumble into Svenja’s office, too focused on keeping the donuts from spilling out across the floor to feel much of anything else. Svenja wasn’t, isn’t, strong in the slightest, but she caught you off balance and off guard, and sometimes that’s enough. You look up at her in confusion as she locks down her office door. “Svenja,” you ask, voice slightly nervous, “Is everything okay?”Honestly, you’ve never seen your HR advisor ever show so much… purposeful energy. Mostly it’s just jittered off as general worry or nervousness. And sometimes exceptionally cute displays of panic. This is a very different beast from the usual Svenja. Suddenly she flips around, back and hands pressed against the sealed office door. She eyes you hungrily. You’d almost call it Valkyrie-esque, if it weren’t for the fact that it lacked that particular predatory glint. No, there was no amusement in her eyes, no triumph of the hunt. Just pure and undiluted… desire? But wait, what? No, not possible right? You could have sworn that your HR advisor was too busy being terrified of you to actually have such thoughts. As the engine of your brain attempts to turn over, Svenja walks forward, tossing away her e-glasses. She continues moving forward, pushing the donuts back until it’s literally just the box between you and her. She extends a hand, fingers brush against your chest. Svenja looks up at you with brilliant baby blues as she bites down on a red lip. Her index finger makes looping ovals as it descends down from your shoulders, passing over your pectorals and gliding down towards your abdomen.
“Svenja,” you murmur, entirely sure of what was going on and completely unsure of how to handle it. Seriously, women never really threw themselves at you like this before! What the hell was it with people on here? Not that you’re complaining, it’s just kinda weird. Did you manage to somehow stumble across a bunch of Svenja’s obscure fetishes or something? The finger’s progress comes to a sudden halt as it meets with the unyielding cardboard of the donut box. Svenja finally breaks eye contact with you to stare down at the obstruction. As she looks down, something in her posture changes. Her shoulders tense up, and she seems to shrink down to usual size.Svenja looks up at you, her eyes no longer glazed over with lust, but bright and alert and… guilty? Svenja takes a step back, a crimson flush of shame covering her face as she moves away from you. A second later she has snatched the box of donuts away from you and they are on her desk. You advisor turns around to face you from the front of your desk, trembling slightly. “Ivan, I-I-I… what a pleasant surprise! H-h-h-how g-g-good of you t-t-t-to drop by?”>What say you?>This is a write in, but I can see this scene going two ways:>Ivan plays it off and things are a bit awkward but return to normal. >>31551218Well crap, I reversed my initial vote but didn't bother correcting it because I thought we were using Strawpoll now. Switch >>31550992 to "Bonezone" please, not that it will make a difference.
>>31551218I'm surry I undermined the democratic process...
>>31551218>lewdI don't see him wearing a skimpy Merc Idol outfit.
>>31551218Strawpoll seems to show a pretty hefty swing towards bonezoneage.
Speaking as one of the few anons who voted for the FtB, can I make a request of my fellow players in the wake of our defeat? Can Ivan give Svenja a quick peck on the lips or soemthing?Or failing that, in the middle of laughing off her concerns, mention the homoshower to her? Like in passing. Svenja might be prompted to ask what we meant by it, and we could get all nervous and defensive about it. Basically, reveal something embarrassing and sexual to her so that we're on even footing
>>31551272We're definitely getting Svenja one next time. After a date or two, anyways...
>>31551272Oh dear god my sides please Senpai have mercy I can't breathe.
>>31551218I don't know how but I can tell just by looking at him that Pearsly a bro.
>>31551300I'll support it if we ask her if she'd like a date with Ivan before we peck her.
>>31551161Ivan's not gay. Unless there's a shower involved. then the veil gets thinner.>>31551300>Speaking as one of the few anons who voted for the FtB, can I make a request of my fellow players in the wake of our defeat? Can Ivan give Svenja a quick peck on the lips or soemthing?Yeah that's basically what I was going for with. Not full on lewdings, but... acknowledging that we got a glimpse into her real fantasies, past her public facade. >>31550926
>>31551328Wait until we find out what it's people's gender/genders and sexual reproduction habits are before labeling it as a he, you insensitive pig.
>>31551218>Bonezone: 25 votes>Not: 12 votesSure you don't wanna recount?
>>31550926This'll be great at getting back on the right foot with her!
>>31551300No, kissing tends to make things weird around the office.
>>31551426>>31551218>Also, one of you went out and dared to UNDERMINE THE DEMOCRATIC PROCESS.
>>31551426Samefagging anon. Samefagging.
Since there seems to be some concern over this FtB issue, I'd just like to say that the opportunity to do so shall roll around once more in the future. Don't worry here people! It's all cool
>>31551426I think he means if Ivan would be ok with creaming her doughnut eventually, not immediately, while we're in her office.
>>31551454>>31551459Whoa, really?I mean I know there's not 40 people here, but I dunno which side is samefagging hardest.
>>31551468well look at you, trying to preventing shitstorms before they happen.before they happen. I've said it before and I'll say it again: you are my bro and I love you.
>>31551468only problem I've ever had with this quest is the possibility of being NTR'd by the girl/girls we end up wafuing. I trust you to be able to work around this FallGuy.NTR is the devils work and I wouldn't wish it upon my worst enemy
>>31551652Frankly all questmasters should just filter that word and ignore people whining about it, bitching about it, asking for it - the whole lot.it needs to stop being a thing
>>31551677if only. world would be a better place
You sidle up to Svenja slowly, a slow smile spreading across your lips. Eventually you stop before her, thumbs stuck into the belt of your pants. “Hello, HR? I’d like to make a sexual harassment complaint against HR.”Svenja blushes and looks away. You take her chin in one of your hands and gently tilt her face back up so that she’s looking at you. A quick and light peck on her surprised lips and you're back in your usual seat, looking as if nothing has happened at all. You smile up at Svenja. ceramics radiant from careful care and genuine affection. Even if she’s a bit lewd sometimes, you still wouldn’t have anyone else as your HR advisor. Svenja blushes furiously and takes her seat behind her desk, straightening herself out and removing any wrinkles that resulted from pressing herself against the donut box.Her face is still that endearing shade of scarlet, however. “So Ivan,” she says, shuffling some papers around flusteredly, “What can I do you- do for you!”You chuckle and crack your knuckles, noting, with your new awareness of Svenja’s preferences, the tremor of desire that passes through her as you flex. Yep, wouldn’t trade her for the world. “Well Sven, I was thinking about my earnings on Capital Shock?”
“Right,” gasps Svenja, diggin through a several piles of papers. “And not just that! Another bounty on Dreadds came in too!”A few moe seconds of digging and Svenja has found all the various bits of paperwork. “Yes, here it is. The Public Relations Department of Xenzhueng Industries Unlimited has a 20,000 credit bounty on Dreads. They’re only paying half of it now, and the other half will come in in a year or so, just to be sure Dreads is properly dead and gone.“And past that,” Svenja continues in an unnaturally chipper voice as the credits pour in, “Operation Capital Shock, despite lacking any secondary objectives, happened to pay very well indeed! Almost too well,” her tone becomes less forced cheer and more genuine confusion, “I didn’t think missions for mercs at your paygrade were normally quite so lucrative. That’s another 25,000 credits, plus your 10% bonus fee, so a grand total of 37,500 credits earned today!”You blink. “What.”Svenja looks at you, slightly concerned. “Is everything okay Iva- oh I can hardly ask that question now can I?”>What say you?
>>31551809Is this a wtf "what?" or a oh really!?!? "what?"
>>31551809>Kiss the HR repThat much good news? Yeah, react.
>>31551809>moe seconds
>>31551809No, go ahead! You've got a right to ask. What do you need to know?
>>31551809Any chance you could price out the next skeletal and muscle augmentation options? Also that toxins/hostile environment one?
>>31551809>A few moe secondsHaha Svenja."I'm fine its just not what I was expecting. So anyways what's the next lot of missions look like?"
>>31551809Thats a pretty nice chunk of change. So whats the damage on the next skelly mod?
>>31551809Is this enough to warrant picking svenja up in a hug and spinning around laughing like only a crazy Russian merc can? If so I say we do that. If not, disregard.
>>31551809>>What say you?Lets fuck with her expectations a bit."My god. I almost want to kiss niels now. I'm.... I'm out of debt, svenja. In the green!"

>>31551809How much was our debt again?Let's pay off as much as we can, we dont have anything big that needs spending on, do we?Also, dont forget to ask how the Hiwamari Force is doing.
>>31551975I really want that Skeletal Upgrade...
>>31551933Girls ALWAYS love boy love.AlwaysALWAYSThey just won't admit it to anyone who asks about their personal preferences. But realtalk, its pretty much the same thing as guys being into lesbians. Except + emotional connections because chicks are into that more than guys. And I've just explained why shounen-ai is a thing.>>31551921thats hilarious though. Do It. I guess the shower gets one good jab in for all its efforts!
>>31551946You are adorably innocent aren't you.
debt stands at 57750 credits. You now have 39,129 credits in checking. Disregard what you see in the pastebin, these are the most recent and reliable figures. How much do you pay off?
>>31552033Can we get a price sheet for augs/mods before we decide?
>>31551993I wonder if modding the BART into drop capable power armor could be a temporary solution. Might not even be cost effective though.
>>31551921>Bringing Niels into the conversation as a potential romantic partner.Well that would certainly postpone or preempt the Svenja romantic subplot.
>>31552033>>31552042Something to keep in mind is we have the stock-exchange to play with now, Money is AS big a concern, But that debt is. Pay off 15k then use the rest for aug-mods-weapons.
>>31552042>>31552033I agree with this Anon, but on a gut reaction. I would probably pay 25000 credits.

>>31552097
>>3155203310,000That way we can pick up the skeleton aug + that nifty dart launcher with a bit left.
>>31552070I want them all.
>>31552033>>31552070Pay off enough to buy The Nano-Carbon Skeleton 25%.So 20,000 would be enough, to make a sizable dent and still let us buy that skeleton.
>>31552070any neat/exclusive augs from our bitter prophet guys? They did leave their catalogue-card with us, even if we did have to choose one.
>>31552157We would be broke as hell though.
>>31552070>>31552066So me again. With this information I'd pay off 18129 credits of our debt. That is all.
>>31552115seconded
>>31552033>>31552070Pay off 17750 of the debt, buy the sexy skeleton mod.We just picked up a lot of cool guns/general loot, and we do have a habit of getting punched, so the skeleton is probably better than a new weapon at this point.
Might want to put this vote off until next time since the capcha shit has gimped the discussion.
Guys. Could we put our badass processor to use by using some kind of interface to control the BART remotely and fight alongside it?
>>31552157Pretty sure we don't want to get any Shirley Temples from Cy of all people...
>>31552228Hmm Niels might be able to whip together a dumb AI for it, assuming it can move under its own power.
>>31552222Apparently Captcha just got fixed. So there's that.
>>31552228This. Please.>>31552250>>31552250He could do the code, we'd do the interface?>>31552235Don't lie you want one.
>>31552228I think we'd need some serious cybernetic upgrades to our brain if we wanted to directly control two networked bodies at once and make sense of the sensory input.
>>31552179Gonna give you guys some solid numbers to vote on to speed this process up. To be clear, all votes are happening in the strawpoll!http://strawpoll.me/1524885
>>31552222>>31552265Ah, dis regard this then I suppose. Since the skelly seems unanimous lets just sub the 18000 from the total then get to working on what is left.21129.

>>31552278You mean the non-alcoholic drink or the child actor?Because I'm pretty sure I don't want either, for various reasons.
>>31552228That would mean two drop pods. Not sure if it's practical, but if it doesn't cost much I wouldn't be opposed to it.
>>31552265Oh hey.How bout that.
>>31552033Pay off 17129? leave the rest for shoppings and livings

>>31552380What? I'm not sure how you got that from my post.I was just being snarky.
We should also get around to fixing that weak point on the BART's faceplate when we have the time.
>>31552070>>31552165True. >>31552306Hey Fall Guy, how come you're using this? Not that I mind.
>>31552431posting on 4chan has been fucked up for like six hours

>>31552441Really? It's fine to me.
>>31552430>>31552430We only get half of the bounty. which is 10,000. THe total from the Mission was 25,000, we then got a 10% bonus on the 25,000 which left us with a total of 37,500 after all was said and done. not 57,00.
>>31552430We only got half of the bounty so 10000 then 25K for the mission then 10% so for a total of 37500Just so you know m8.
>>31552070Hey did we ever find out what augment we looted from the first drop? Still mad we sold that, we could have made some mad cash from it.
>>31552478They just fixed captcha looks like. You came at a good time.
>>31552430You're math is wrong. It's a 25K payday, plus an extra 10% because of our advanced pay grade, so we're getting 27.5K for the mission. The bounty is 20K, but half of that is being held in escrow for a year until its confirmed that Dreads is Deads. So we're only getting 10K from that today.27.5K + 10K = 37.5K, right?
>>31552430We don't have 55,700. We have 37500. We only have 10000 from dreads at the moment plus 25000 from the mission and 2500 from the 10% bonus
>>31552482>>31552470>>31552490>>31552515>>31552529Really? Damn, never mind then. All my hopes and dreams come crashing down.At least posting is back to normal.
You decide to say nothing. Instead you simply stand and tower over Svenja. “I-I-Ivan, what’re you do-”You promptly lift her up into the air and spin around with your HR advisor squealing in fear as you twirl around her office, almost crying with joy. Eventually you settle down a little and put Svenja back on the floor. Her hair is a mess and she appears to be deeply discombobulated. “Oh-oh my Ivan, that was very… yes.”Svenja supports herself against her desk as she walks back behind it, clearly very very dizzy. Taking her seat once more she smiles somewhat dazedly up at you. “I assume you’re pleased?”“Pleased,” you cry “pleased?! Svenja, I’m fucking thrilled! Put down the interest plus 15k to my existing debts. The rest is going into getting Harder Better Faster Stronger. Mostly just harder.”Svenja makes some strange sort of yelping laugh at your words. She looks up at you, covering her mouth and blushing slightly. “Excuse me. I’m not really feeling myself right now.”“S’alright, you reply, waving her apology away. What I mean is I planned to increased the percentage of my bone structure consisting of carbon nanotubes from 10% of total mass to 25%, which would allow for a plethora of new muscular augmentation. Failing that, I could always modify my current metabolic system to increase ATP production to get a boost to the output of my current muscular augments.”Svenja’s jaw drops at your words. She seems utterly shocked at what you have just said. You raise an eyebrow. “What is it?”“I just- Ii oh my. That all sounds rather extreme. I mean, I suppose I knew about all the augmentations, but never that they were so… involved!”>What say you?
>>31552674Well, the other option was optimizing my eyeballs and getting a gland installed to keep me calmer in firefights....it does sound weird when I say it out loud, doesn't it?
>>31552674What? 12750 is leading 14 t0 9 over 17750.
>>31552674>Yeah, they kinda are. And If i hope to go up a higher pay grade, get better paying jobs, and do better on missions. I will need these Augments, this is just a load off my mind. Thanks again Svenja. >Also invite her to movie nightI don't want to spend so much time explaining all the stuff on why we need these, and the mechanics behind them, just give her a simple explanation.
>>31552744>>31552766Either of these.
>>31552674Worried that I might become another Tin Man, Svenja?
>>31552760this needs to be addressed
>>31552766Its not going to be fun for her surrounded by so many other mercs. And not as fun for them. Our relationship with our PR is 'wierd'
>>31552760>>31552789Oops, dyslexic moment there. I'll just funnel some credits Ivan's way to make up for it, yeah?
>>31552674Shrug, "They are, but the installation processes tend to be pretty low key. I does make it a bit harder to get a decent workout at the gym, but definitely worth it in the field."
>>31552766>>31552786These combined sound good to me.>>31552674
>>31552674This works:>>31552766
>>31552789I mean it really dosen't matter in the long run but when I voted 12750 was in the lead as well? Did Fall just check when the other option had a brief lead?
>>31552805Ah its no big deal. Nice to see that this vote looked a lot more reasonable in terms of participants.
>>31552805this sounds good to me
>>31552766I think she's too jumpy for movie night. It's not going to be a good time for her if Markos and the rest start teasing her for getting scared.
>>31552766>>31552786these two also didn't we agree to share a bottle of champagne later
>>31552805Thank you?>>31552798She is in human resources and dealing with people like us is her job, might as well help her get used to people like us and invited her into a controlled environment with people we know are "good". It may be a "weird" relationship but it does not have to stay that way.
>>31552844>I think she's too jumpy for movie night.Yeah, probably. But could do a test run of Project Cuddle on her
>>31552844I think her reactions would be prefect if she's afraid it'll be easier for other people to feel it. Just imagine how high she's gonna jump.
>>31552874Heh, I just want to see her faint at the "primitive" special effects. That'll show those cretins!
>>31552674"They are I suppose, but better augments means better performance, which means more dosh, which could lead to more creme-filled donuts if you play your cards right."
>>31552766second also, Svenja is really fucking adorable and I love when we interact with her, but this particular movie night is just for the rookie mercs. It would be awkward for everyone if our HR rep just showed up. Remember that HR is feared on the brick
>>31552899Cream-filled long johns.
>>31552874I thought we were running that project on Elda?
>>31552899This and say "creme-filled donuts" sensually
>>31552939On the big movie night, yes.
>>31552964...which is what is being suggested we invite Svenja to.
God damnit all this talk of doughnuts makes me want some. Fucking Krispy Kream why aren't you open.
>>31552939Why not both? Space threesome!
>>31552978Fucking krispy kreme why aren't you available in my area more like
>>31552974And which she's not a good fit for. The other fellow rookies are predisposed to dislike her and she's very jumpy; now put two and two together.
>>31553013fucking Australia, have to go for a 50 minute drive to find the nearest Krispy Kremeand I already live in the 2nd most populated city in the state
>>31553100Wow. There is one about 5 minutes from me, 10 in heavy traffic.
>>315529788 hour drive for me. This is what I get for living in the country side.
>>31553208Where the shit do you live? I can get like halfway across the state in that time.
>>31553208I live in the tippy fuckin' top of a bum fuck nowhere country, I have to go like. I guess 8 hours is an exaggeration. But still, Krispy Kreme is not a regular thing where I live.
“Well the other option I was considering was replacing my eyeballs with optimized tube grown organs and a gland that helps me think in the middle of high intensity situatio- God that does sound pretty extreme.”Svenja nods slowly, more befuddled than anything else. You’re glad. You’d feel terrible if she was afraid of you. “It really does… But I suppose you have to for your work?”“Well yeah,” you say, shrugging, “I go up a payrank, I can afford more augments. I need more augments to survive the missions I get at my higher payrank. It’s the circle of life. But thanks for worrying Svenja.”Svenja merely nods and sighs. “Oh I know. I’ve just heard some stories, you know? Some terrible things about a coworker of yours by the name of Alexander Barri-”“Oh Tin Man? Yeah no thanks. Even us mercs think he’s a freak. Don’t worry about me following in his footsteps Svenja,” you say with a reassuring smile.“Oh good. That’s a great relief to hear Ivan. I was about to be worried.”“Yeah no,” you say, waving her concerns away. “Not about to fall down that path.”“Well alright,” says Svenja, giving you a cautious smile in return, “was there anything else you wanted to ask me about?”>Well?>Date Night is an option. I wouldn’t recommend bringing Svenja along for rookie movie night.
Alright, one final update, and then I crash into Q&A mode. Burnout is already starting to get me. This is why I should really start my threads at my usual time, instead of two hours later.
>>31553313"So, got a spare evening anywhere close?"
>>31553360this pretty muchtell her we still haven't shared her champagne with her yet
>>31553313Alright no date night. Still, I don't recall the Tin Man being viewed as such an... undesirable light. I mean to some degree cyberization is required for more intense missions after all.
>>31553313>"Anything about the Himawari..Himewami...Himaemari.... the three new mercenaries I recommended for basic."also>>31553360>"When is your next day off?"Might ass well ask her out on a date, since we can't do movie night with here.
>>31553380He's viewed in an undesirable light because he's a creep, not because he's so heavily enhanced
>>31553360Let do this
>>31553405Ah. Recall which thread we learned about this? Was it the one where Fall gave us all those spoilers?
>>31553428It's in one of the known character pastebins.
>>31553380The Tin Man is regarded as a mentally unsound and unhealthy individual by everyone on the Brick. Not a sociopath or lunatic, just a deeply anti-social eccentric. "The Tin Man went to Oz to get a heart. Barrister gave his up to become a Tin Man."
>>31553330Are we not getting a mission report? Those are always fun, especially the little comments.
>>31553380He's a sociopath that got progressively less human to keep killing people and you wonder why he freaks people out?
>>31553444>"The Tin Man went to Oz to get a heart. Barrister gave his up to become a Tin Man."He wanted orange. They gave him lemon-lime.
>>31553444>>31553443Oh shit, that sounds familiar! Sorry, I even have the master pastebin open.
>>31553447Darius and Valkyrie are wokring on your mission report. Since they were in cryo the whole time, they have yet to finish it.>>31553405He's not a creep per se... just creepy, and how heavily enhanced he is does play a part in that.Fair warning about the character sheet, that's still more early quest concepts sometimes. I really need to update it.
>>31553492Huh. Just read his thing. CQC package, eh. I would love to see him in action just so we know how far we still have to go.
>>31553444>>31553454>>31553492Nah, I just think that the idea of a man sacrificing his "humanity" to become what he has become is a bit disturbing. He had a dream that he wanted and he achieved it, but now everyone thinks he just a weirdo, now combine it with his "eccentric creepiness" it just adds to his image. I really do hope he is just a cool chill guy.
>>31553492>how heavily enhanced he is does play a part in thatI hope there isn't a CP2020-style cyberpsychosis in this game
>>31553313Hey guys, Svenja likes Stargazing right? Maybe take her down to the observatory on K-level as a date? Or at least as the end of one. This might be nice for her.
>>31553661champagne, cream filled doughnuts and stargazing. now we just need to ask her out
>>31553661>>31553709D'aww save that idea for later.
And that's all he wrote folks. Not sure when next thread will be. Probably not till Tuesday, busy weekend for me, what with Jesus coming back from the dead and homework and all that good stuff. Will linger for Q&A should you have any.
>>31553743>"So Elda... Ivan pls. Get your names straight or things could get weird fast.
“So Svenjaa. We keep on saying we owe each other drinks. First off, do you still have that bottle of champagne? And secondly, you got a spare evening any time close?”Svenja’s blush, which had at this point retreated down underneath her shirt collar, surges back up with a vengeace. “Well I mean- I- yes, yes I do! The day after tomorrow, friday! I am free then?”You grin and nod. “Awsome. Well, keep the date in mind. Perhaps dinner? What sort of food do you like?”“Donuts,” Svenja replies automatically before turning crimson. “I mean- uh- Voytekian cuisine is always nice. I’ve got a bit of a weak spot for it.”You grin at her. “Alright. I’m pretty sure there’s a good Voytekian place somewhere in the commercial sector. Dinner there? I’ve got something I think you’d love to see afterwards.”Svenja looks liek she might faint, but she keeps her composure together. “... Yes. Yes, that sounds lovely Ivan. I will see you then.”You smile and wave a friendly goodbye and good night before taking your leave of Svenja’s office and heading back to your own quarters. You’ll need to do a bit of prep work making a working projector surface for the Thing tomorrow anyway.
>>31553743>The BART is my penis.
>>31553767>How has your day been so far Fall Guy? I hope it has been good. also>Where would we go to get stuff for our BART and to upgrade and modify it?
>>31553767How much would it cost to lighten the BART and put reactive armor on it? How light would it need to be to fit in a standard drop pod?
>>31553817Pretty good anon, thanks for askingNot sure yet, haven't put much thought into it. May need to come up with a new character or something for the mechanics bay>>31553829I'll be frank anon, try me again on Tuesday. That sort of tech stuff is always way more thought intensive than one would initially think. I'm not awake enough right now to make that call properly.
>>31553767you should run DAQ every day Fall GuyI need my daily fucking fixalso, how feasible is it for us to use the BART in our missions.if we kept it with the intent to use it would we be able to bring it with us every mission, or if will you give us the option of taking it with us only on CERTAIN missions
>>31553829I wonder if making DIY power armor out of the BART would be cheaper than buying a whole new suit. Would make a good stopgap until we get our strength upgrades though.
>>31553864>>31553829In the interests of spending money wisely, I propose an alternative to lightening up the BART:Modify the Bart to accept a disposable shell that allows the BART to function as a drop pod. Make use of the Armor already on the Bart for dropping so that it doesn't lose as much to drop.
>>31553878Limited use. A BART every mission would be game breaking.>>31553895Definitely an interesting idea there anon.
>>31553463Beautiful reference, loved it.
>>31553895I don't really think it's lack of space that keeps the BART from being drop effective, it's that it's much heavier and requires larger thrusters and more impact gel to keep it from being destroyed on impact.
>>31553931Thanks for running fall guy, I'm not usually a fan of quests because of all the bullshit involved but you seem to be a genuinely good QM.
>>31553895Yeah, the idea of having it be in a separate drop pod is another idea. Just have to make sure we are able to get to it and that no one else can get to it first. Maybe where the mission we are doing prevents the use of a BART terrain of rules of engagement wise. This can be mitigated by use and our fellow mercenaries landing first, securing a DZ and then calling for the BART to be dropped. Again we will still have to get specially made drop pods to do so. And that will cost money, so maybe we have to personally pay for each drop. Or maybe even have our client pay for BART drop expenses as an included bonus package to every mission we go into. It would be of course optional but, let them know that if they need or want a BART we can do it.
So I wonder if, after the mission we just completed and considering it was at a higher rank than we were technically allowed to do, whether or not we (and our team) will rank up? I did show excellent skill, team work, tactics and leadership, and it was at a higher grade than we are ranked for. However, we really shouldn't have been on that mission and we are probably still considered too inexperienced regardless of how we did.
>>31553959That's not exactly how it works, but I'm not sure if I can explain why.Normal drop pod:>Metal shell>imact gel>maybe some other stuff>container for merc, with chair and straps and everything.the purpose here is to minimize force on the mercNow if you replaced the merc with a BART, you'll obviously need much more power and impact gel, but if you designed something for a BART:>Relatively less metal by using the BART's protective systems>Impact gel, some injected into empty spaces/joints of the BART to save space>no container, because the BART can function as that alreadyso yes, you need more thrusters and more impact gel, but not exactly proportional to the increase in weight.
>>31553931So if we make the BART drop capable we could use it?I mean, I could see us just removing everything but the servos and grafting it to our regular combat armor so we could use the heavy weapons.
>>31553812>VoytekianIs this a real thing? Cause when I googled it, it brought up that WW2 army bear.
>>31554056>>Relatively less metal by using the BART's protective systemsI'm not sure if the BART can stand up to high velocities in atmosphere. Besides, we'd also need cooling system because even if the BART could handle it, we'd be cooked.>>Impact gel, some injected into empty spaces/joints of the BART to save spaceHow much empty space is there really in the BART? And wouldn't it pose a hazard to anyone we worked with? How would we get rid of it?>>no container, because the BART can function as that alreadyI'm not sure if it can honestly. It's designed to withstand bullets, not atmosphere drops.
>>31554000>BART drop expenses as an included bonus packageI quite like this idea, as it also allows the BART to be used only on specific missions where it is needed so it doesn't become game breaking.
>>31554095holy shit, Voytek was a WW2 army bear?Dude, I named it after an NPC in my last quest, called Voytek. Guy was a fucking skeleton bear.Mind is blown right now.>>31554062You can use the BART as is, but you just can't take it for every mission. They would become dissatisfyingly easy.>>31554000This is a very good idea non.
>>31554109Agreed. I would imagine it would generally just cost more, a burden taken by us mostly unless:>>31554000Just to to get that fucker on the ground.
>>31554136Wojtek. Thats the first thing google gives me for "Voytek."
>>31554136hang on, issuing a redaction there. A player in that quest suggested the name Voytek. They definitely knew about said WW2 Bear. Mind is still Blown.
>>31554136>You can use the BART as is, but you just can't take it for every mission. They would become dissatisfyingly easy.I mean if we remove everything but the actual power part of the armor we could wield those heavy weapons without strength mods. Maybe we could integrate it with our regular armor somehow.
>>31554109>I'm not sure if the BART can stand up to high velocities in atmosphereI mean making use of the BART as a frame on the inside, or something, because it's easier to drop a BART than it is to drop a human of the same weight and size.>empty spacenote that the BART is not intended to move while dropping. You can inject the gel in a lot of places, and it's not anymore dangerous than it already is(keep that enviro-suit on). At least, that's how I think it works from trying to remember thread 1.>containerI suppose you would need to add things for pressure changes, but the point is that you don't need to add the entire weight of the container in.
>>31554169Ah, I see. Sort of make an exoskeleton. That's more feasible, but again, it's something the players will need to vote on.
>>31554164vɔjtɛk is the IPA so yeah looks like it. Also, so it really was a big deal we took down a bart in melee the?
>>31554183>because it's easier to drop a BART than it is to drop a human of the same weight and size. If someone is as heavy as a man in a BART I think they may be so heavily augmented they could jump out of a ship in their underwear and survive planetfall.>note that the BART is not intended to move while dropping. You can inject the gel in a lot of places, and it's not anymore dangerous than it already is(keep that enviro-suit on).Yeah, but how would we get rid of it? How would it mess with the servos and stuff? I'm assuming we'll need a lot more of it since it's much heavier than a man with a combat suit on, and we're not putting that shit in the BART with us.>I suppose you would need to add things for pressure changes, but the point is that you don't need to add the entire weight of the container in.We would need heat deflecting shields, larger engines and a life support system at least. Might need to be pressurized if the BART isn't made to operate in space.
>>31554169I'd rather not strip away a perfectly good BART that we just got for that. If we can maybe we can actually buy an exoskeleton/power suit that were made to do so. Still I'd rather have us spend the money for the augments, because if something wrong goes on the field with the suit, were are pretty fucked.
>>31554213Yes. Ivan's just been getting more and more based.
>>31554241Another question, could we possible be able to some how enable the BART to fly?
>>31554237Agreed, I think either sell it or rent it out (renting it is probably better long term) and use the money to buff up on steroi- I mean augs.
>>31554237Fair point. We'll have to see how easy it would be to put it back together I suppose. Might just be a matter of sliding the armor back on. Another advantage to lightening the BART is that it wouldn't become a living coffin if anything went wrong with it.
>>31554249Strictly speaking, yes. However, by the time you get rockets and whatever else thrusty enough for the problem, there will hopefully be better and more convenient things around. Still, one must carefully consider the wisdom of flying around in a world full of smart missiles.
>>31554241Nice. I wish a little birdie might let us know how our stats are in relation to the other Rookies...
>>31554280Oooooh yeah this!
>>31554276Heh, they make chaff for a reason. Speaking of, did we impress our pilot buddy enough last thread to possibly get our license?I like the idea of Ivan being a spaceship pilot on the side.
>>31554276Still, one must carefully consider the wisdom of flying around in a world full of smart missiles.Kekekeke.
>>31554262Renting it out is a brilliant idea. Have them pay a initial rent and a security deposit.Other mercenaries may need a BART for a mission and could be willing to pay big bucks for it.That idea plus this idea.>>31554000Allows for use of the BART but also prevents us from using it every drop, and allows us to make money on the side. >>31554276Fair enough.
>>31554235>If someone is as heavy as a man in a BART I think they may be so heavily augmented they could jump out of a ship in their underwear and survive planetfall.that's not an arguement against my point. the point was that you can use the specs of the BART to decrease the requirements of the drop pod.I'm too tired to fact check on how impact gel works, so I'll try one last time:Case 1: a box of jello>needs a container>needs cushioning force>needs a shellCase 2: a box of jello in a steel frame>still needs a container, but maybe we can use the steel frame as part of it.>still needs impact gel, but maybe we can use the steel frame to take some of that force>still needs a shell, but maybe we can use part of the steel frame AS the shell, depending on the shape of the frameimportant part is maybe, because the specifics are still vague. I'm not saying the BART can magically be used in all of those cases, but with a little ingenuity, it can be used in at least one, and that shaves a bit off the costs. If you still aren't convinced, I give up.
>>31554280Ivan has a higher physique score than any of the rest of the rookies, excpet for Cy, with whom he is tied. Tsukino and Markos have him beat on speed. All of the rookies except for Cy have a higher perception score. Ivan has slightly above average acuity.Charm and Grit aren't really used for anyone else.>>31554287I hope Ivan the Pilot is something anons pursue
>>31554340That would make us a very versatile mercenary.Ivan being able to lead and do on foot tactical missions, but also being able to pilot both BART type heavy armor power suits and aircraft/spaceships.
>>31554340>Ivan the Pilotthis pleases me greatlyand we defenitely need to work on our Perception if our other rookies see us as the de facto team leader. otherwise someones going to get killed due to our stupidity/recklessness
>>31554340Shit. So we die, Cy the new protag? Not really though. We need speed then. And also enough acuity to shoot our fucking gun gud. Thanks Fall.
>>31554398Fuck meant perception.
>>31554324>>still needs a shell, but maybe we can use part of the steel frame AS the shell, depending on the shape of the frameSee, if you're going to do that then you'll still need something over it to disperse the heat. I'm not even sure if the BART is rated for vacuum, so there's that as well.Honestly, it doesn't seem to offer than many benefits compared to a conventional BART drop pod.
>>31554371Ivan has greatly boosted base stats due to his CQC focus. Tsukino is in the same boat, but she is hyper-specialized on speed and perception, while Ivan is more of a generalist with a focus on physique.>>31554375>>31554398Perception is more of a shooty stat. So if Ivan retains his primary CQC focus it won't matter overmuch, where as a shift in focus to guns would make perception much more important. Elda has crazy high perception for instance.
>>31554324If you use the Bart as the frame then wouldn't it be super flimsy? I guess you could weld it on, but then you couldn't take the damn thing out.
>>31554466Yeah, but we still use our shooty bits a good amount. It it seems like we can't hit the broad side of a barn when we need to. May just be some bias on my part though.
>>31554515Ivan should remain the 'cowboy' style, I think since we built him around it.>Smaller arms at range>CQC up close>Later, heavy ordinance (such as BARTS and the like to deal with increased threats.
>>31554523I agree with that, but I just seems like we never hit with our revolver. It is annoying but maybe it is just the dice. IDK, we did pretty good on the last mission so I can't complain too much.
>>31554598Except we are no longer using our revolver as much but our SMG because we trained to used them as well as Pistols, Shotguns, and other Melee weapons, thanks to our CQC package.
>>31554629>ShotgunsNope. Also SMGs fall under the pistol category.
>>31554598>>31554523>>31554515using only our revolver and axe is reckless and a bit stupid, even though its our bread and butter.Fall Guy has said we need to think things out more to prevent team mates from potentially dying. we should be using our OMP/ assault gun whatever alot more instead of seeing enemies 100yards away and deciding to just fucking run right up to them with our axe. we need to rely on our guns more, we need to evolve.all that said, I fucking love being a huge CQC russian bastard and running in and chopping enemies to pieces
>>31554638Not saying we will every use a fuckin' niche weapon in actual combat situations where another Close Quarters weapons would be like our OMP which we have decided to already do, just stating that we are trained in them. And I do know that the SMGs fall under the Pistol category, I was one who pointed it out a couple threads back, only stating that we are as proficient in using a SMG as we are with a Pistol.
>>31554666I never said we should do that. In fact, that's all the more reason to train our pistol/SMG combo. We already started down the track and diverting now will just make us mediocre at both. That doesn't mean we're useless at range, tho. Take the last mission for example.>Have Long range specialist>We set up ambushes and traps>They provoke and pick off>Enemy move in>Blast with traps>Pincer with rest of team>Our skills shineThat's the type of situation we should strive to keep. As for heavy defenses...>Hardware specialist>We make bigger and badder suits to shatter enemy encampments>Chaos creation allows allies to pick off those that remain.Right now we lack the real mods to let us do this last one, but it will be endgame us I think
>>31554638SMG strong. Or at least better that the hand-cannon.
>>31554694I was saying we didn't get shotgun training from the CQC package.
>>31554638Christ, we get it, you hate shotguns because they killed your father, goddamn.
>>31556567anon, he was correcting the other anon who thought we were trained with shotguns because of our CQC package, which we are not, shotgun training didn't come with itno need to sperg out
>>31556636Sorry. The Weaponry Shitstorms we get sometimes get me grouchy.
>>31556761all good anon, always got to remember to take a step back and recall we're all here for fun
>>31556845For fun..? FUN!? YOU THINK WEAPON CHOICE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN!? IS THIS A GAME TO YO- oh wait, it is a game, you're right.
>>31556910You saying I don't take my fun seriously, punk?Because you're correct!
