Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage, labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread, you awakened that which is not dead but can eternal lie, battled a monstrosity, and made a contract with a spirit to hunt down and kill a woman so that you may cut out her heart and feed it to him.

With its last ominous warning, the spirit vanishes with a soft 'pop'. You'd really like to know how it does that. It seems just terribly convenient. Captain Darzi still seems to be in shock, staring at the symbol that has etched its way onto her hand with a mix of fascination and horror. You note that the symbols glow softly, like hot coals, yet yours doesn't seem to burn any longer.

After a few minutes of silence Darzi seems to come back to herself. She glances around the room hesitantly before softly saying. “I would very much like to leave this place, Mikhael.” You're slightly surprised to hear her use your actual name instead of simply calling you an aghtak, but this hardly seems like the place to bring it up. You begin to lead the way along the cobblestone path towards the exit. You don't get far before a familiar voice forces presses its way through the connection created by the Communication Brooches.

{Are you okay?} Fulvia ask, a hint of nervousness evident in her thoughts. {Could be worse. Say, do you know what an 'atma is?} There's a brief pause before she responds. {Records indicate that 'atma is the generic term used by natives in this region when it was still under Imperial rule to refer to any variety of nature spirits, whom they worshiped as gods. There were four known varieties, referred to as Yaratma, Niatma, Haratma, and Varatma. Respectively those are Fire, Water, Earth, and Air spirits.}
(1/2)
>>
You take that in for a moment while navigating the winding hallway back towards the camp site. The spirit you'd been speaking to was likely a fire spirit, judging by the flaming clay pot it called a head. {Well I believe I just sealed a contract with a Yaratma. I'll explain more when I get back.} She responds promptly. {Very well, please make haste. The others are beginning to grow nervous.} With that, the connection is severed and you're left to your own thoughts.

Well, she asked you to make haste. It probably wouldn't do to dawdle. On the way you decide to make some light conversation with your companion. “So, the spirit showed me your memories of training and combat. It was quite interesting, I felt I learned a lot. What did it show you?” She grumbles out. “I would rather not talk about it.” To which you respond. “Oh come now, they're my memories! I feel I have a right to know what you learned of me.”

She sighs in exasperation but eventually caves. “Very well. He showed me your memories of your time as an apprentice, as well as the circumstances under which you were banished.” You raise an eyebrow. “Really? So what do you feel you learned from those memories?” She folds her arms in front of her chest. “I'm unsure. I could probably perform admirably as a healer in battle. Did your master really treat you like that?” You laugh, and nod your head. “Yes, my master was a bit of a loon. That said, believe me when I say he was not anywhere near the worst I could have been tutored by. I know of a vatis who insisted on slitting his apprentices' throats just so he may meditate by healing them all simultaneously.”

She looks horrified, perhaps rightfully so, but it occurs to you she only answered half of your question. “And as for the memories of my trial? Do you still feel that all aghtak are scum and liars fit to be executed on sight?” She's about to respond but it's cut off by a gasp when you exit the tunnel. You furrow your brow in confusion, looking forward to try and determine what it is that surprised her so greatly. You very nearly jump out of your skin at the sight you see.

You quickly stuff the lantern you'd been holding into your cloak, and the room is plunged into darkness. Your cloak almost immediately fades into ethereal, indistinct mist in the dimness of the caverns. You grab Captain Darzi by the wrist and pull her quickly along to a near-by outcropping of rock, where you duck down and throw your cloak wide so that it covers the both of you. You can tell she's shaking, and her jaw is clenched, but she says nothing.

From your hiding place, you see the plant creatures roaming across the campsite. They tear apart the remnants of tents and overturn boulders in their search. You see one pass only a few feet in front of you, one tentacle turning to face the glowing orange eye at its tip directly at you. The creature stops in its tracks, the tentacle inching its way closer until it's only inches from your face. However, just as you're about to start slinging fire the tentacle retracts and the beast moves on. Apparently it deemed you unworthy of its attention.

After what feels like hours crouched behind that rocky outcrop, the beast seem to decide you're not here. They gather around the collapsed tunnel entrance and begin to tear at the rocks blocking the entrance. They're making quick work of the blockage, but they're still going to be occupied for quite a while. If you're careful you might be able to sneak over the bridge without them noticing you, but then again they already passed you by. It may be better to just wait here.

A glance spared at Captain Darzi reveals she's not doing well. She's got a far away look in her eye and it seems as though she may be on the edge of hyperventilating. A panicked woman is the last thing you need in this situation.

>Try to quietly calm her down.

You let go of your grip on her wrist and try to speak in quiet, comforting tones. “It'll be okay, they didn't see us. Just try to rela-” You place a hand on her shoulder and she flinches away, glancing briefly at you and then at the plant creatures. “I can't do this.” She mumbles. “I can't do this. I'm not meant for this. I can't.” You can tell she's about to bolt, and you get a little desperate yourself. You grab her roughly by the wrist and open your mouth to speak, but that seems to be the straw to break the camel's back.

Before you know what's happening, you feel a fist come up and plant itself in your abdomen. The wind rushes from your lungs and you're sent into a coughing fit. The plant creatures whip around to focus all of their many, many eyes on you, and then on Darzi who's fleeing rapidly across the bridge while you're stuck doubled over and wheezing for air. You're really going to need to have a talk with her if you survive this, that was not cool.

About a quarter way down one of our options is

>Meditate, this will be the first person you've ever actually killed, and you're still a little uncomfortable with that.

This is the thread in which we kill Spiros I believe

Say what you will but we had plenty of people we could have killed before that but we didn't
>>

>>31872024
>Mikhael hates killing.
From his actions so far, I'd say that's likely. He seems to go out of his way to kill as few people as he possibly can.

Lord Spiros was the first person he ever killed, and he was apprehensive about doing it in the first place. Though he doesn't regret killing Lord Spiros, because Spiros was a huge asshole, he doesn't feel happy about it. Healing the bandits was also sort of a big deal, even if you did sell them into slavery. That's above and beyond what's expected as far as treatment of prisoners goes.

That said, I wouldn't go so far as saying he has a religious aversion to killing. He certainly doesn't kill lightly, even when fighting people who directly threaten his life, but he also doesn't mourn for the people he has killed. All... 10 or so, I'd need to go through the previous threads to get an exact count.
>>
So, we'd be down to 5+whatever vys the spell will suck out of the mob.
How about using 1 to boost the the armor with earth, whip out our spear and get into a battle position. We mastered Marsala Ve so we got a +4 with the spear.
We can try paralysing them one at a time.
>>

well the exact line was
>Mikhael has an almost religious aversion to killing

And that seems pretty accurate to be honest, especially in a setting where the value of life is rather low,

>From his actions so far, I'd say that's likely. He seems to go out of his way to kill as few people as he possibly can.

Yeah I don't see anything contradicting that

You raise your hand towards one of the plant creatures and channel vys into your palm. Oddly, you don't really feel anything different as the energy collects, no creeping sensation of cold or anything of the sort. When you discharge the spell a tendril of vys shoots out of your palm and latches itself to one of the plant creatures. It's an ethereal, transparent thing. It almost looks like a fluid of some sort, the way it shifts and undulates.

As you begin to drain vys from the creature you can see it bleeding away into the surroundings instead of making it all the way through the tendril. You have to expend additional vys to shore up leaks, and in the end you feel you don't get as much energy as you could of out of the plant creature. You also don't manage to drain it dry before the tendril snaps and the connection is severed. Rather, you only managed to weaken it.
>Vys Pool: (12/26) You feel slightly drained, but you're not doing terrible. You could certainly put up a hell of a fight.

>Enemy turn!

The creatures seem to decide that you are the bigger threat in this situation, and one of them begins to circle around to flank you while the other two advance. One is preparing to pounce, and the other is charging you full bore. You can already tell this is going to be a tough fight.

You channel leaching through your spear, the sigils carved into its shaft beginning to glow softly. You feel more than ever that the spear is an extension of yourself, though its appearance does not warp as you would normally expect it to. When the charging plant creature reaches you, you brace yourself and your spear against the floor and catch it directly in the chest. Using its own momentum, and a burst of your own vys, you carry it up, into the air, and over yourself only to slam it down into the ground behind you.

Just as you jerk your spear free, the creature that had decided to hang back pounces. You step nimble to the side and it crashes into the position you once occupied. You stab it firmly in the side, twisting the weapon in the wound. Unfortunately, you can't manage to defend yourself from the creature that had decided to flank you, and you feel something puncture your neck. A needle of some sort. You jerk away from the creature, which had crept up behind you, and pry your spear free of its comrade.
>Vys Pool: (14/26)

You reach up to feel the wound on the back of your neck. It's a small hole, not bleeding too badly. It didn't even particularly hurt really, like a bee sting. You're worried about what the point of the attack might have been if not to hurt you, but there's hardly time to contemplate at the moment.

>Ally Turn
>Enemies Remaining: 3x Plant Monster (2x Wounded)

The two creatures you wounded are pulling themselves upright, but they don't yet seem ready to launch another attack. That means the ball is momentarily in your court.

You channel vys into your free hand, raising it towards the three creatures in front of you. Water condenses from the air around them, locking their joints and their long, slug-like tails in ice. They screech as the frost creeps its way across their bodies, and for the moment seem completely immobilized. It occurs to you that you've likely sentenced these creatures to a slow death, as it's rare to find a plant able to recover from being frozen over. They usually wilt and die fairly rapidly.
>Vys Pool: 11/26

>Ally Turn!
>Enemies Remaining: 3x Plant Monsters (2x Severely Wounded, 1x Wounded)

They struggle against the ice that binds them, but whenever they make any sort of progress you simply patch the cracks and reinforce the ice. Effectively, you've won this combat. They won't be able to break free so long as you maintain the ice that binds them and even if you did stop maintaining the spell they would still be trapped for at least several minutes. You have the option before you of finishing them off or simply moving on and leaving them to either wilt or escape.

>Leave, they're no longer a threat to you.

You approach each one of them in turn, stabbing your spear into their necks and waiting until they're drained of all vys. It's depressingly slim pickings, after a long fight and after already draining one of them fairly severely. Still, it bumps your reserves up once more to respectable levels.
>Vys Pool: (18/26)

You stop maintaining the ice that binds them after you've made sure that each one is devoid of energy, and then you take a moment to take stock of your injuries. You escaped surprisingly unscathed, though you're starting to feel a little woozy. You heal the puncture wound on your neck without much trouble but water magic is incapable of healing poison, even natural poisons. That would be taken care of using the Manipulate effect, which you don't yet know, in conjunction with the Poison effect.

An idea does occur to you though. You know that channeling water magic into your armor reveals the flow of ambient magic. Perhaps channeling water magic in conjunction with the poison effect would reveal if you'd been poisoned? You quickly do so, and the world shifts from the blue field of swirling energy to a dull monochrome reflection of the real world. The plant creatures, still trapped by the ice, are illuminated brightly with glowing red lines of what you can only assume are poison glands. It seems to be focused around a stinger that resides deep within their tooth-filled maws.

You glance down at yourself, and see that same bright red glow creeping its way through your veins. It hasn't gotten far past the site of injection, though it's begun to creep down your arm and across your chest. You're surprised that you feel only a little woozy so far, you'd expect to be feeling much worse.

It was gonna be a success anyway, I don't see why we should have spent 5 more vys to make a great success.

I would have understood if it was a life or death situation or bargaining or something where the difference would be major, but why would we spend it now?
>>
>>31874388
We are cured, but they didn't want a great success and bring us back to 12 vys even though we were doing well with 8vys, since we just spent it, we should either recover quickly or not be hurt as badly.

A great success will just reduce how severely you're weakened. Drop it from a -4 to all actions until you next sleep to a -2 to all actions.

>>

>>
>>31874541
Eating a lot of food and water will just reduce how long the effect last, rather than reduce the severity of the effect.

>>31874562
Actually creating new cells en masse is difficult. That's why healing burns is difficult for water magic, because burned tissue is basically destroyed tissue. At grandmaster level, it becomes more feasible.
>>
>>31874596
So this could be the insight needed to reach Grandmaster.
>>
>>31874596
>Eating a lot of food and water will just reduce how long the effect last, rather than reduce the severity of the effect.
Well then lets stuff our faces.
>>
>>31874630
Not insight exactly, but i think we could get a modifier.
>>
>>31874630
Nope, because you weren't meditating. You were focusing on not dying rather than learning from this experience.
>>
>>31874673
Sooo, what bonus would we get to meditation if we took their poison glands and tried to heal ourselves while we were affected with it?
>>
>>31874673
I know we need 3 insights to get grand master level healing, but does 1 or 2 insights add anything to our water magic?
>>
I liked the captain. But the batch just lost all rights to the share of knowledge and loot. Unless she does something incredible.
>>
>>31874709
Nope. You get the bonus to healing at 3, and the rest at 5.

>>31874698
Probably a +10, but that's pretty extreme even by extreme standards. There is legitimate risk that you'd die if you failed the roll.
>>
>>31874698
>took their poison glands and tried to heal ourselves while we were affected with it?
This...looks interesting it could make for usefull training material if we ever write a book on water magic&meditation trick.

>>31874756
Nah.

Little to risky.
>>

NOPE

Dice gods are fickle bitches, praised be their name.
>>
>>31874795
Not this particular poison, but maybe some from a species of snake with not so potent poison.
>>
You mentally press upon that subtle link in the back of your head, and you feel the presence of your three companions. {Listen, I've been poisoned.} You're about to go on when you're cut off by Profectus. {What? What happened man?} You sigh, mentally. {I was getting to that. Captain Darzi and I were ambushed by three plant creatures. We were hiding, and she panicked and ran for it. I fought them off and managed to kill them, but one of them managed to sting me. The poison hasn't fully kicked in yet so I have some time, but I can't cure this on my own. Unless I slit my throat and bleed the poison out or something.}

There's a pause, and then you hear Chryssa's voice in your head. {How do you feel? Perhaps the poison will not be so bad.} You take a moment to assess yourself. Your legs are feeling heavy, and it's becoming slightly hard to breathe. You also feel nauseous. You decide it would be best to slow your heart to give yourself some more time, and the once steady beating of your heart slows to a crawl. It's an odd sensation, your chest aches and the world seems to take on a very surreal quality, but otherwise you feel fine.

{Not great Chrys. Legs feel heavy, breathing is difficult, think I might vomit.} She responds quickly with. {It sounds similar to conium poisoning. Conium causes paralysis starting in the legs and eventually the poisoned individual ceases breathing. My people sometimes use it to execute non-violent criminals.} Oh, that's just dandy. {However, if one were to assist the poisoned individual in breathing for the duration of the effects they might live. It only last for two or three days. Also keep in mind, this is merely a guess at what it might cause. I've no way of actually knowing.}
(1/?)
>>
>>31874810
>>31874810
nope. fuck the plant fuckers
lets just get back to camp and fucking sleep.
then ask that idiot Darzi what the fuck her problem is
>>
You hesitate, that doesn't sound pleasant. {How does one assist breathing?} You ask, and she responds promptly. {Typically by shoving a tube down the throat and inflating the lungs with a set of bellows. Unfortunately we possess neither.} So you're shit out of luck, basically. {Alright, I'll take my chances with the slitting my own throat and bleeding myself. If I don't make it, Captain Darzi can lead you to my body. I'd like to be buried in a massive stone tomb twenty stories high crafted in my image.} Profectus responds. {We'll be sure to strip you of valuables and kick your body off the edge of the pit.}

You sever the connection and draw your dagger from your cloak. Looking at it for a moment, and then glancing at the creatures frozen next to you, you decide here would be a bad place to perform the procedure. You make your way acros the bridge as quickly as you can and then duck into the winding halls that would eventually lead you back to the staircase up to the level above, where your companions are camped and where Darzi likely fled.

Once you feel fairly safe, you draw the blade across your throat. It stings, and instinctively you feel panic well up from deep within your gut, but you tamp it down and focus on your task. You use water magic to draw out the blood and keep an eye on the process using the poison detection function your armor has. Slowly, you see the creeping red glow begin to recede. You end up needing to let go of the hold on your heartbeat and in fact accelerate it just to avoid passing out.

Eventually you think you've extracted all of the poison within your body and you heal the wound in your throat. A large pool of blood surrounds you and slowly spreads across the floor. You feel better than you expected to after slitting your own throat though, and you think that's in large part to just how much vys you spent ensuring that the task was carried out with the utmost precision and care.
(2/3)
>>
>>31874866
So no stealing the glands for easy poison on enemies?
>>
>Vys Pool: (12/26)
>Status Gained: Blood Loss (-2 to all actions)

You stumble slightly on your way towards the stairwell, you really... really don't feel too good right now. At least you can move your legs freely, breathe normally, and no longer feel nauseous. Rather you feel just horribly dizzy, and your heart is fluttering. You're also absolutely starving for some reason, and you end up digging some jerky out of your cloak to gnaw on while you stumble back towards camp and your companions.

You feel a flash of both relief and anger to see Captain Darzi making her way through the halls towards you. You understand making a run for it, but did she really need to punch you in the gut? That just seemed entirely unnecessary. You stop, and lean heavily against the wall as she approaches timidly. She stops several feet away, well out of reach, though doesn't say anything.

>The least she can do is help you back to camp.
>You don't need her help! Fuck her!

No.

For example.

Killing the person who raped a friend/lover/family member is a common occurence. Temporary insanity is used for these.

Also past mental conditions can provide conditions for it.

IT's really institutional depending on what affects the person.
>>
>>31875842
Not neccessarily.

Depends on what triggered it.

If it was a particular event they'll just give you some therapy and send you on your way. the death/rape of a family member for example.

If someone shoved you into a busy road in real life because you had stepped too close to them and they were traumatized, and you almost get splattered by a car, how would you react? Ok. I guess you'll never understand why I want to play a character with emotions, while I'll never see the appeal of playing someone more robotic than Fulvia.
>>
You can understand that she's in an emotionally weakened state at the moment. Heck, the entire reason you invited her along in the first place was because she was trying to cry herself to sleep and you wanted to get her mind off of recent events. Of course, that seemed to have backfired there towards the end. You've no clue what set her off but something must have, either that or the fear got to her.

That said, you're still pissed off. It might not be rational but anger seldom is. You don't think you could reliably open your mouth without hurling insults or at the very least a snide remark or two, and so you don't intend on opening your mouth. You try to brush right past her but she presses herself against the opposite wall of the cavern to avoid you, thus depriving you of the satisfaction. It irritates you that she's so nervous, does she really think you intend to hit her? You probably couldn't muster up the energy to do so in your current condition anyway. Even if she might deserve it.

She stands where you left her, nervously twiddling her thumbs for a few moments before following along like a lost puppy. She doesn't say a word and neither do you on the way back to the camp, though you do hear her take a deep breath like she might start speaking only to let it out in a shaky breath each time. At least she doesn't start crying. You're not sure you could put up with crying at the moment. When you finally see the glow of the campfire and hear the voices of your companions you're overcome with a deep sense of relief.

You stumble into camp, Profectus whistling lowly when you enter the light of the campfire and your cloak snaps once more into tangibility. “You look like shit, Mik. Did bleeding yourself work?” You nod wearily. “Yes, it did. I'd still like nothing more than a long nap.” Chryssa speaks up. “You may use my tent, if you wish. Profectus and I intend to set off to clear a path to the lift. Judging by this adventure of yours, the upper levels are far from safe.” Out of the corner of your eye, you notice that Captain Darzi has retreated into her own tent while the others focused on you.

You nod your head. “That seems wise, though I expect you two to be careful. I know you can hold your own but I'd rather not be reattaching any limbs or bleeding any of you to cure poison.” Profectus nods, rolling his shoulders and drawing his falcata. “Don't worry about it, we'll be fine. Gods, you took on three of the things solo anyway didn't you? We should be able to take on anything we come across.” Chryssa nods her head in agreement. “Indeed, if all else fails ripping things in half typically leads to their death. Eventually.” Profectus takes a step away from her, though you don't think she notices.

Confident that your companions will be okay, you slink into Chryssa's tent and collapse onto the bedroll she has inside. You try to take off your armor and your boots so that you might sleep more comfortably, but you find yourself passing out befoe you make any progress. You didn't even realize just how absolutely exhausted you'd been. You'd basically been going through the motions.

You sleep peacefully and dreamlessly, for a time. Unfortunately that peaceful, dreamless sleep comes to an end when you find yourself awakening in an endless black void. You have no real way of knowing which way you face, which way is up and which way is down. You can't even really be certain you're standing, for you feel nothing solid beneath your feet. You're floating weightlessly within nothing, garbed only in a cloak of the same.

This in and of itself is not all that jarring a dream. Somewhat pleasant, really. Very peaceful, all things considered. No, the unsettling thing is that you feel a Presence approaching. It presses upon your consciousness with the weight of its own, and for a brief moment you feel as though you are an ant in the presence of giants. It carries more weight, or significance than anything else you've ever come in contact with, more even than a dead god.

You permit it entrance, and for a brief moment the veil of reality is torn asunder. You are offered a glimpse into the world beyond yours, into that twisted realm of magic where only ones own power determines the methods and processes by which the world works. Stepping through the tear is a figure from a nightmare. A four armed, winged skeleton with the skull of a stag. The image of death itself.

It descends towards you from on high, or perhaps ascends. Up and down are irrelevant within this realm of nothing. This in-between place. You do not hear it speak so much as you feel its words worming their way into your mind, permeating through you rather than carrying to you.

{In fourteen days.

Loop holes are when hospitals classify a state as dead when it isn't. Gods don't really do this.
>>
>>31877665

In any case we should get our training in overdrive.
>>
>>31877680

No, it count alright, but not in this specify case since we will "kill the shah", stopping his heart and getting it started again doesn't count as kill.

No, the messenger doesn't says he dies, it says we KILL him. If you are looking for loopholes you need to work with us killing and not with him dying.

It doesn't mean we will.

We could leave for Elaudia tomorrow and then this is bullshit

You pull your knees to your chest and rest your forehead against them, trying to calm yourself down and get your heart rate to something resembling normal levels. Once you've gotten yourself under control you reach into your cloak and are comforted by the fresh loaf of bread pressed immediately into your hands. It strikes you just how useful this cloak is. You really made the right decision in that vault below the Academy.

You chew pick at the bread absentmindedly, your stomach settling down after a short while. You press upon the subtle link in the back of your head to contact Chrys and Prof. {How are you two doing?} There's a brief pause before Chrys responds. {We are on our way back. The trip went well, we successfully reached the lift. Unfortunately the rails on which the lift runs have been torn to shreds above the level it is stuck, so we will need to make the trek back down to use the lift.}

Oh, they're already on their way back? That was quick. {How long have I been asleep?} Profectus responds this time. {Not long. Perhaps... five hours? The trip back up will be a lot faster than the trip down, since this time we won't have to fight little fucking tusked snake things. Gods above, those little bastards were everywhere on level twenty six.}

Well, that's good to hear. Your companions proved confident enough to clear a path to the lift and from here on out it should be pretty easy going. You wonder if they found anything interesting? Come to think of it, the woman who's heart you were supposed to cut out was on level five, you wonder if they fought her. {Did you see a woman, or an AI, on level five?} Prof responds after a brief pause. {No, nothing like that. We did find an old Rhynian research facility though. The doors were all locked and we didn't want to waste time trying to pry them open so we moved on.}

That's probably where your target is, then. Good, you can still complete the conditions of that contract you made with that spirit.

It's probably Darzi, let Fulvia calm her down for now.

Guys, what if this void messenger thing is the cost of wearing the cloak? Like, in order to use the cloak's services we need to play hitman for Death himself.

Would it really be a price if we never had to do anything morally questionable? I bet it will start off with people we wouldn't object to killing, and then eventually it will start asking us to kill people we respect/are close to.

And ask him what's up with the extremely accurate date. I sure hope that's not the time we need to ritually sacrifice the Shah to him.

I wouldn't be surprised if we managed to roll our way out of killing the Shah instead target that dickbag of a son he got and somehow get a translator for Ricky.

Yup but by then people aren't going to give a fuck unfortunately

You slump back into the bed roll and close your eyes, trying to fall back asleep. The memory of the dream is already beginning to fade, and with food in your belly it doesn't take long for sleep to take you. You sleep soundly dreaming normal, nonsensical, perfectly mundane dreams and after two hours of napping you feel someone place their hand on your shoulder and gently shake you.

You roll onto your back and are greeted by Chryssa's impassive face. She's got a bruise on her cheek and some dried blood on her forehead, though whether it's hers or something else's you're unsure. It's slightly awkward to be laying in the cramped tent with her perched above you, but quickly enough she rises and makes her way out of the tent. You push yourself into a sitting position and stretch out for a few moments before following you.

The party is gathered around the campfire, Captain Darzi included. She's looking much better, and when she sees you a brief flash of guilt crosses her features, though she says nothing. It seems everyone is listening while Profectus speaks. “Alright, glad to see you're awake, Mik. Don't look nearly as pale as you did.” You smirk. “Glad to hear it, I'd hate to look like you.” He waves you off, while you take up a position around the campfire with the others.

“Alright, listen. Me and Chrys-” Fulvia interrupts him. “Chrys and I.” He waves a hand dismissively. “Yeah yeah, whatever. Listen, Chrys and I have cleared a path to the lift but it seems like the further down you go the more wild and uncontrolled the mine gets. I can only imagine that it's even worse all the way at the bottom.” Chrys takes over for him at this point. “We have merely gathered everyone to discuss the possibility leaving Baldev to his fate and moving on.”

it's cool if you want to railroad us a bit if you spent a lot of time planning this dungeon. People make a fuss but no one really minds, especially if it's a popular quest

That seems fair and reasonable, I most admit that he is likely dead. And while I wish to get out of this place as soon as any of you, there is something I most get on the 5th floor before we can leave. Its a matter of "most" and not "want", but I will not force or ask any of you to come with me.

You think about it for a brief moment, and then shrug your shoulders. “I must admit, it seems that Baldev is most likely dead. Still, even if Baldev is dead I would not feel right leaving until I have proof of this. Plus-” You hold up your hand, displaying your palm to them. Chrys raises an eyebrow, while Prof leans in to get a better look. “I have made a contract with a fire spirit lurking around a shrine on the second level to kill a 'ghoul' whom I suspect to be an AI on the second floor. I can't leave until the contract is completed.”

Chrys says with an obviously amused tone in her voice. “You are gone for an hour and you form a binding contract with an ancient spirit. We are gone for six hours and merely kill all variety of beast and monsters.” You grin. “What can I say? The gods favor me.” Profectus shakes his head. “Curse, more like. Screwing around with spirits is never a good idea.” You wave him off. “Don't worry so much! What's the worst that could happen? Anyway, as I was saying. I cannot force any of you to stay. If you wish to leave now, feel free to do so.”

Everyone glances for a moment at Captain Darzi, who folds her arms in front of her chest. “I will go nowhere until I have seen that rat bastard's corpse.” Your companions all turn their attention back to you, and one by one affirm that they aren't going anywhere. Your course decided, everyone begins breaking camp and preparing to move out.

>End thread!
>Sticking around until thread death for Q&A.
