Lets make a Bestiary for monsters we've made in drawthreads. Lets aim for PF, if just b/c its kindof a universal language.

Some people from these drawthreads have been posting fluff for them, so that could help people stating the prospective beasties

Some fluff we've done

>Gabiza:
Gabiza is a malevolent spirit who often appears in nightmares. He looks like an old man of less than three feet, with increadiably wrinkled skin and feet. Gabiza can levitate, pass through solid objects and give people nightmares. To do this, he floats beside their window and stares at them in their sleep, fleeing to the spirit world if his victim wakes up. If Gabiza kills you in a dream, you die in real life. Nobody has seen what is beneath it's dress .To slay Gabiza, one must sneak up on him and strike him with the legbone of a departed dreamer.

The Dancing Nymph:
Although not properly a nymph as much as a water sprite, this creature is frequently associated with them for their tastes in the fine arts. But instead of inspiring musicians and writers to create, they are a bit more of a jealous type. Whenever one performs particulary well near a body of water, the song or words can be carried a long distance and if a Dancing Nymph (also known as fighting nymph) hears it and deems it worth it, it will travel surprisingly fast across the water to reach the source and listen closely. Once the perform is finished, the Nymp will demand more, or outright attempt to drag the author to it's underwater lair. Any attempt to deny will angry the nymph beyond measure, causing it to Dance/fight with furious purpose. Using spinning movements to kick and punch it's adversaries unconscious or even dead, it will still attempt to capture the artist alive. If it suceeds, he will probably drown in her cave. The few people that have being to a Dancing Nymph cave and survived reported dozens of skeletons grabbing old, corrode musical instruments or book where the ink long faded.

The nymphs dont seem aware that they are constantly killing artists with their obsession though.

The Vermin Lord:
One of the most dangerous and real threats to life as we know it. It all started within the secret halls of a dwarven city. Nobody knows what it was before, but some rumours suggest it was the fetus of a unborn god, product of divine relationship that was undesired. But god's cant kill gods and this apply to their children as well, so it was hidden beneath the earth never to be found. Except it was.

The skin of the Vermin lord seems to excrete a foul smelling and reportedly foul tasting nectar, that is still somewhat irresistible for those that have tasted it more than a few times. Akin to a Queen bee and maybe a perversion from it, it controls it's followers, mostly dwarves, through it. After decades feeding the beast it became too big to fit on their cave and the dwarves build a coal powered contraption to carry it's overweighted, bloated behemot. Now, on the surface, it's followers grow in numbers, raiding and obtaining all that is organic to thrown into the beasts mouth and be rewarded with it's addictive oozing love. As they destroy forests and farm, and kill the cattle to feed it, they advance under a black cloud caused by the coal, raiding and adding more followers, forcefully feeding them the terrible substance. Whatever the truth is behind the vermin lord, one thing is sure...If he is not stopped, all the work shall be consume by its disgusting madness.

The Entropist:
When you want to scare a kid, you tell them about child-eating goblins. When the Holy Swords want to scare the commonfolk, they speak about necromancers. But if you want to scare a necromancer, ask them about The Entropist.

It's not clear if this creature is the same on each appearance or a race that exists somewhere in the Plane of Death and manifests to our reality to feed on rare occasions. What is known is that the entropic energy of death, and in particular of the undead, seems to be related with all or nearly all sightings of the beast. A hulking mass of graveyard dirt, tombstones and bone forming the tumor like body, often reported to have a massive arm. The Entropist will often be dragged or carried by undeads enhanced by it strenght, and seek to devour necromancers to feed on their power. The size of the creature seems to increase with each tale, and its unclear if the creature is actually growing, or just it's legend. But the Entropist is far from being a threat only to death mages. Sometimes spawned in great necropolis or village cemeteries on it's pursue for the Necromancers, it will destroy anything that stands on the most direct path to it's victim and often its miasma cause the recent dead to rise even days after it's passage.

Shadow-Strider:
Half Constructs, half supernatural beings of pure shadow, the Striders were built during war between the Wizard's Guild of Northend and th Sorcererer's Alliance of Serpent's Island. The Sorcerer's could hardly compete with the Guild's footsoldiers, called Mage-knights, although they didnt knew magic themselves but could be infused with powers. Instead they focused on terror warfare.

A particulary skilled Golem artificier joined forces with the terrible Lanna, The Shadowmistress to weave together an assassin golem that could emerge from the shadows and kill the Guild's commanders and wizard from behind the magic shields of their bodyguards. Upon destruction, nothing remains of a Shadow Strider but loose pieces of it's constructo form. It carries a blade made of shadows and has the ability of moving through nearby shadows silently as death.

Eventually the Sorcerer's Alliance was destroyed, but their terror-spawn machines kepts working. They were stranded into the eight realms, found by adventurers, triggered by ancient commands words on accidents or purchased by nobles without ethics.

Forgotten God is an unholy monster to assrape your bunghole. Likely an undead or outsider

Foul Devourer:
The foul devourer lurks on deep volcanic caves that link our plane to the Lower Realms of the Abyss. Often drawn to the surface to seek for more food once the cave systems are depleted of suitable prey, the Foul Devourer usually live alone and are extremely agressive to anything that comes near, including others from it's own species. It will eat any being made of flesh, with the exception of Undead, with it's ungodly eternal hunger. A foul devourer is never satisfy and will always act in a desperation that reeks of starvation, even if it just ate a whole horse with it's rider. The flesh consumed isn't lost though. It's essence is transfered to the pits of the Abyss from where more foul devourers will spawn. It is said that the mouth of the beast is a portal to the Abyss itself and if one was to past through without being gnawed by it's fear-inspiring maws, one would find oneself in the fabled Demon breeding pits of hell. The eye on a foul devourer's tongue is hypnotic and will cause the victim to hesitate and stare longe enough for it to jump from the darkness and feast.

>The Congregation of Conflagration
There was once a mass of worshipers of the god of flame. A mad priest led them on a path of damnation; believing they could merge themselves with their god and partake in his essence and power.

For their hubris they were all fused together into the obscene Congregation of Conflagration; an uncomfortable mass of limbs and organs constantly afire, with only the head of the priest to see for all of them. He must suffer all their pain and try to overcome it; his punishment is all of his followers combined. The Congregation often wears over sized religious paraphernalia, which rarely last more than a few days even with significant fireproofing due to the magical flames that burn the profane mass.

The preacher regrets what he has done and has put himself and his congregation on the path of redemption, and for this they were given Wick, the flaming spear, as a token of their god's appreciation. They strive to repent for their forgiveness, wandering the land doing their gods will.

The Congregation is immune to flame, and those close to it feel extreme heat emanating off its body. Occasionally, multicolored flames burst from their skin, which burn hotter than any flame on the mortal realm. With their many legs, the Congregation can move very fast and are very strong, but is very clumsy, often tripping over itself as the head attempts to give orders to the many legs and arms. Hidden beneath his flame-retardant robes are several more arms, which can be used for climbing, defense, stabilization or anything else, but are malformed and ugly compared to the arm that holds Wick.

When wielding Wick, it can project beams of flame from the spear's point, as well as burn through armor and shields. It also possesses the power to light or extinguish any flame of any size just by pointing the spear at the source.

it occurs to me that not everything is going to need to be converted and it'll all depend on how i wind up doing stats/how much fluff and information each monster's going to come with, how the text will wrap, etc., but I'm just going to give everything my best shot as I go along.

Nobody knows what they are. They come for many things, inexplicably and seemingly with little pattern or cause. A cow, a favorite dog, a first-born daughter. Their demands are random.

The only thing that the poor villagers know, is that when you see those sickeningly pale, skinny legs towering through the window, you listen to their whispering voices and obey. Nobody likes to talk about those who refused.

>>31877607
Originally crafted by an ancient civilization long since dead and gone, these peculiar constructs' sole apparent purpose is to strike the ground in front of them in a never-ending assault of thunderous crushing blows. The main ruin, Xexe Itzla, contains at least a dozen of them, and is a popular location for picnics. In deep craters that dot the city, a relentless can be heard all through the day and further on through the night, each pit a testament to the long centuries these automatons have done nothing but pound the ground before them.

Some artificers speculate that these are golems who never received a command to stop whatever labor they were doing, and so continued to pound away unheeding of the rise and fall of the civilization around them. Others believe that the automatons were made to do precisely what they do now. Whatever hypotheses come about, none are courageous enough to test their theories first-hand.

Can we not have it D&D related? Some people play systems OTHER than that and would prefer if it were more generic, so they won't get a headache trying to translate all the relevant stats. Just saying.
>>
>>31880282
Dont use concepts taken fully from other famous settings, like warforged. Use generic terms and explain the differents. Far better to say its a 'sentient construct' than to call ti warforged. Even better if you can avoid the warforged thing altogether and make something more unique
>>
>>31884759
No we can't. Pathfinder/D&D is the most used system. Take the fluff and stat it yourself in the system of your preference if you will, but dont complain of people that are trying to make it useful with actual useable game statistics than that generic bullshit people do like "Strenght 5, intelect 10"

I play GURPS more than Pathfinder but I rather have the monsters on this thread stated in a useful way. Now if you wanna go ahead and make actual, balanced stats for use in a system of your preference instead of telling others what not to do, I would like to see that.
>>
>>31880928
Dude, this is good, but giving them names and speaking a little about their actual combat abilities, weaknesses and such would make it more useful for a monster manual/monstruary

Muddraggers:
They live in tropical lagoons and saline swamps, or any place near enough both the sea and some tropical forest or jungle where they can find food. Muddraggers are inteligent creatures although more brute cunning than creative thinkers as humans. With the expansion of humanity across different environments conflicts with this beasts became more common, but most of them end up happening between muddraggers and pirates, since the latter tend to seek the sheltered locations with oceans access for their covens, and those are the perfect habitat for the salt water brutes. They receive their name from their habit to burrow themselves on the wet sand or mud in the bottom of a shallow to jump prey by surprise. Recently "prey" is a expanded category and may include ships they'll sack for weapons and goods, and eat the crew for sustenance.

Their are short creatures, standing 5 feet up at their tallest, but they make in brute strenght what they lack in size. Their weak sport would be the relatively weak (in proportion to is size) jaw bone. Muddraggers teeth are commonly used as currency among pirates when coin is not abudantly avaible. Mudraggers scales can be boiled to make a tea that can alivate symptons of sea-sickness and scurvy. They can also be butchered for their leathery skin that when properly treated can be turned into leather armor. They flesh isnt good for eating though.

Xagu:
Forest spirits that walk on the oldest parts of most woodlands, but specially the pinewoods of the great North. Xagus often craft little mobiles they hang from the branches of trees using the bones of dead forest animals, twigsm leather strips and antlers in complex patterns. Villagers who live close to where this spirits walk are in the habit of leaving alcoholic booze out at every full moon night, in specific empty tree stumps on the forests, usually deep enough in the forest that the villages dont feel to concerned with their proximity. On the next morning, the booze is almost always gone and replaced with glass vials with assorted medicines, or good luck charms. This mutually beneficial balance though, should not be upset. It's reported that when villagers get petty with their offerings, giving low quality drinks or just simply not enough, their crops can wither, and wolf attacks on their cattle become more often.

If attacked in direct confrontation a Xagu uses his nature based magic to summon creatures to it's aid, or rain accorns or twigs upon his enemies. He will fight to get away though and even killed a Xagu wont be destroy, merely respawning on it's Mother Tree. The only way to kill a Xagu is to dig on the Mother Tree root and finding a bird skull with three eye sockets a small sack with seeds inside it. Destroying this charm will destroy the Xagu.
>>
>>31876148
Frogo:
Frogo also likes to be called "The Great Slimy" or "Frog Lord". A powerful and ancient creature of Mystery, Frogo is a treasure hoarding giant frog who is rumoured to be able to concedes one a wish, under certain limitations, if one accepts to perform a dangerous task for him. Usually this task involves bringing him shiny shiny items. Frogo is believed to habit some underground lake in a massive cavern complex now, but it was known to move around a lot in the past, carrying most of it's treasure in his belly. Many seek the Frog lord either to steal his treasure or to ask for a wish, but this elusive creature is also powerful, using its hypnotic gaze to defend himself against aggressors. Frogo likes to eat reckless adventurers and other cave dwelling creatures, and it's arrogance is only matched by it's foul smell in ill reputation.

Also to add infor from different kinds of point of view could be cool, like a farmer, an educated guy, a noble etc.

We'd need to write much more lore for each creature, and I'd still like a mechanical representation of the monsters

If you want to make it for whatever system youd like go ahead.
The point of it being 3.finder was b/c its kind of a 'universal language' so more peopel can see what the monsters about and convert it to their preferred system of they dont like PF. But since nobody's statted them yet, go ahead

"The Maangkons"
They are able to levitate themselves and teleport over long distances with magic, as well as rake attackers with their deadly claws and powerful bite. Those bitten suffer a disease that turns their blood thick and black, and soon their bloated veins burst, killing the victim.

Dark magic has no effect on them, and they can survive otherwise fatal wounds with no repercussions. They can transport others with their powers, and often choose to take their foes high above the clouds and then drop them.

I'll give it a try.

A Zigguar with his probability blades. These weapons not only cut its foes in the present but across timelines and dimensions. A cut made across your thigh would hurt you in the past as well as the future. An innocuous nick taken while fighting it may very well be fatal if the wound manages to be inflicted on your infant self as well.

The Zigguar themselves are hard to hurt, as there nigh intangible bodies, an inexplicable paradox, exist in several dimensions at once.

this is a product of my doodle getting redrawn in a monstermaker thread
I guess he could be some sort of cosmic entity that got fed up with the war between good and evil after he lost two limbs and went rogue, never to give a fuck ever again

I prefer him as an Arch-spirit of unfullfilled deals. He can manifest whenever someone fails to uphold his part on a bargain and tries to convince the guy to do it, or trick him into it. If he suceeds he get his body parts again for a whole new year. Or something like that....A cycle of seeking completion.
>>
>>31885270
It's not shoehorning...You can still use them for whatever you like, but over 'not having any mechanical information' and 'having mechanical information for a single system', considering you can, with both, extrapolate to other systems, I prefer having it crunched for at least 1.

Gladioros:
Dwarven warfare is not about numbers and organized lines on infantry. It's about coordinating several different automatons and war machines with highly specialized group of soldiers. Without Cavalry per se, its not unusual that they attempt to build fast moving golems that can stand for it in battle.

The gladioros is one of the most efficient dwarven shock troops, designed to run very fast over smooth Dwarven city streets and underground roads, but can also handle rough terrain better than what it's chariots wheels would suggest with the help of it's long arms. The Gladioros has two ram heads in front used to knock shielded enemies on their backs before using it's flail for deadly effect. It's thick, robust plate armor would render it's big shield redundant, but the shield was intended to provide cover for dwarven formation moving behind a line of Gladioros, specially during siege battles.

It is resistant to fire but as must dwarven inventions, spells or substances that cause quick rust will great deteriorate it's functionability.

Could we get some volunteers to start statting some of the fluffed monsters?

If you dont know/wont do PF consider doing it in another system and helping people to convert it if they want.

>mfw I cant do it because I dont know any system very well
>>
>>31886785
No one wants to use it because 3.X has so much extraneous bullshit. I mean, let's look at 5th edition of the same game.

Name
Size + Category (category is loosely defined--there's not a set list)
Armor Class
Hit Points
Speed
Senses
Str/Dex/Con/Int/Wis/Cha
Alignment (Optional)
Languages

Then Traits, then Actions, (and if it's a Legendary creature, then possibly a few Legendary Actions) then EXP. And that's still not the simplest or most elegant one out there.

With 3.X monster entries there are so many extra details that very well might not be applicable, which require exact numbers where exact numbers are too troublesome, which interfere with potentially unique or interesting mechanics, which are bound by lock and chain to the exact ruleset from which it comes, that it's overall just a terrible choice for anything that was not expressly, explicitly, and exclusively designed for 3.X. And even then it's still pretty bad. It takes way too much time and effort to fill in details no one really cares about while strangling interesting details in paperwork for anyone to willingly take it on.

Seriously, OP, use a different system. I'm not going to force you to stop playing Pathfinder--I'm going to strongly recommend it, but not force you--but if you want people to respond, use a different system for this thread. I heard mention of GURPS? Would anyone be able to post a template for that? I'll scrounge up a few more myself.

Layout anon here.
book could easily be done in chapters, like, here's 10 or 20 pathfinder monsters, here's 10 or 20 GURPs monsters, here's 10 or 20 CoC monsters, etc. Plus, from there, myself and some other anons could convert them all into one system or another. What's six or seven extra links on the inevitable 1d4chan wiki page?
>>
>>31898601
Truuuue. We could also make a generic stat block and then DMs can adapt statistics to specifics from there. I particulary like oWoD for that.

I'm throwing something for that Entropist together in Pathfinder. Good to see you guys have figured something out though. Even if we end up having statted monsters for five completely different systems, it's still better than not statting anything because we can't agree on one system. This makes it seem like Maybe /tg/ can get something done again.

Anyway, I'm tripping over size categories here because I happen to have absolute no sense of spatial scale. I'm comparing it to the presumably-human-height skeleton in the picture with it and thinking it's large... but maybe huge? I think it would be a tight fit for that pile of grave-dirt to squeeze inside a 10-foot by 10-foot cube, and I'm pretty sure you're suppose to have space to move freely within your size category, so it's making me think maybe it would be huge.
>>
>>31899268
Huge definitley.
>>
>>31899286
Thanks. Like I said, I'm terrible with spatial dimensions and I know it, so it really helps to have a second opinion whenever it comes to measuring size.

Spider Imp:
The Spider Imp is a small, vicious little creature that can be sometimes found near place where there is heavy magical activity. Not necessarily a wizards tower though, his creatures can also lurk around natural mana hotspots anywhere in the word. They name comes from how their long nails look like spider legs, and often they'll be used to help him move around as his magic makes him float away from the ground. The tiny vestigial wings seem to be completely useless.

Usually in groups that goes from 3 to 6 individuals, this imps will only attack when they can outnumber their enemies 2 to 1 at least, and will attempt to shoot arcane rays of energy on the enemy before moving in to flank and use their claws to rake viciously. If the fight goes badly they are not above running for their lives. A capture Imp can be tamed though, and some more eccentric wizards can use this creatures as minions for their excellent perception to magical energies.

Rhokai:

Rhokai are a strange variation of the typical Lizard folk. With more brute upper body strength, they also possess more intellect and an affinity with magic. Rhokai martial culture, though, causes them to see magic as a way to strengthen their own fighting abilities rather than a way of living and warping reality. Rhokai warriors are often hired as mercenary shock troops and will be clad in crudely made but resistant metal armor and using elemental weapons summoned by their own will. Honor is very important in the Rhokai society and whenever when takes an action that may be seem as dishonored, they will seek redemption either through a great feat of arms or a honorable death.

Rhokai morals differ greatly from most thinking creatures as they have less restrictions with killing or solving their issues with violence. But they are far from brainless brutes. Rhokai warriors employ creative thinking and are capable of quick tactical analysis. They are simple too single minded to the purpose of becoming the ultimate warriors. Rhokai females are usually their tribes leader forming a council of the elder females, and their breeding rates are twice as fast as a human, which means it's a luck happening that they are so fond of killing each other, because in two generations they could easily breed a massive army if the tribes were to ever unite.

Thurak:
According to legend, the thurak are servants of a solar deity, formed from air and water and charged with enacting his divine will upon the surface world. Every thurak is blessed with might magics; with his right hand, he can create rain or snow to heal, quench thirst, and nourish crops; in his left, he wields bolts of holy lightning to scour evil from the earth. Despite their claims of divine origin, there is little unity among these mighty magical beings; while some have chosen to act with goodwill and benevolence, most of them act as petty warlords, ruling over the surface dwellers in the name of their gods.
