While guide is busy writing up his updates, I was wondering if we could discuss possible mana use strategies for fights.

Right now, we can't do anything in-combat with that resource, and it bugs me cause autism.

Looking at our combat style, we're entirely melee, we have no means of protecting ourselves against magic and bullets, and we're limited to human running speeds to close with our enemies.

We may be able to plug one or more of these holes with enchanted items. For range, what about having a mana-activated enchantment on our sword that massively increases its range with like an extending energy blade. For defenses, again enchant the sword so that we can commit some mana to it and while that mana is used, we're able to deflect bullets and magic. For closing speed, create some blink/shunpo boots for ourselves that activate when we dump mana into them.

I'm thinking we're going to need a enchantment-related special before we can really create excalibur 2.0, so I was considering easier, more focused enchantments that still let us use mana in fights.

I think until we really start cranking on our casting and summoning, our Mana is mainly going to be used for creating much more elaborate enchanted items. they don't even need to be mana-activated, if we're good enough.

You are really interested in the fact that Karasuba grew wings, you really really are. But at the moment you are still having trouble wiggling your toes so that takes priority. “I was just a little more concerned with staying awake at the time,” you say, slowly moving upright, which she allows.

“A good point,” she says, stretching out her legs as you manage to, barely, stay upright. Her thighs, which you’ve always noted to be rather nice, press against yours, her head settling on her shoulder in an oddly possessive gesture, “Do you care now?”

Guide said that with a modifier difference similar to ours and Karasuba's at full power, he'd only allow a successful wound on a critfail for enemy and crit success for us.

Assuming six swords can attack at once (although length and size of sword would massively affect this number), with Karasuba making one roll per round, that's a 1/100 chance of a roll that could result in a critfail for her. In that one roll, there's a 6/100 chance of one of the swords getting a critsuccess.

So, that's a 6/10.000, or 3/5.000 chance per round of an animated sword scoring a wound on the woman. That rounds out to 1667 rounds to finally score a hit on her. At the D&D length of a round being 6 seconds, that's about an hour and 23 minutes per wound. Thus, assuming Karasuba is two levels above master, and has 14 wounds, that's around 19 and a half hours to have a chance of threatening Karasuba's life.

That's of course, assuming that Karasuba isn't fighting back against the swords. If Karasuba breaks only one sword per round (doubtful), then she'd break 23.338 swords before falling, meaning that in order to have six swords still attacking on the final round, we'd need 23.344 animated swords.

So, the question is, do we have enough swords in stock?

Guide, I'll just voice my concern here. I think that girls falling off from our harem slots is a bad idea. I'd prefer a more stable cast than having 5 girls, bringing them to permanent, and then essentially forgetting about them while we work on another 5.

Also, remember that her skill is 125 (250 now) as a baseline of only her phys stat and sword skill. She ALSO knows spells to boost herself way past that point if she is really serious.

That being said, summoning our premade dancing swords is a legit tactic. Just don't expect it to insta win anything... think shadow clone technique from naruto. Expect enemies to kill all our "clones" (self fighting swords).

Aside from that, I am incredibly disappoint that last thread we didn't up our enchantment skill for some reason.

Our starting enchantment spells were self enchants only. Boosting our speed, durability, and strength. This is the most basic and easy of enchantments.
It only lasts a short duration though. We might be able to eventually get permanent buffs in the form of tattoos or something. But it might be more practical to just enchant gear. For example, we made bracers that provide a +10 bonus to physical defense and magical defense for ourself and our core harem.

The real plus of being an enchanter is that we get to play batman. We need to make a utility belt. We already have a shield sundering item. We need to keep collecting

Her baseline skill versus her maxed out stats wouldn't matter. Since it's more than 100 points above our modifier, only a Critfail+critSuccess will work, which has the same chances regardless of modifier.

Of course, that's just speaking in terms of statistics. Guide would be well within his rights to say "You lose" if we try to summon 23k animated swords to the field to combat someone who could destroy us on a sub-atomic level.

My point was that not only will animated swords not insta-win anything, but by mechanics against anyone competent in combat at all would take prohibitively long and be prohibitively expensive to field the swords.

We shouldn't even be trying for animated swords until we can get an animation ability that gives the animated swords our Swordfighting modifier.

You hear all of this as several strong sets of hands grab you and hustle you away from your teacher, into a large open room with benches around the edges. You’re set on a bench, then a different girl rushes towards you at the urging of the others.

You close your eyes briefly, then open them as you feel energy rush into you. Looking up at the girl, who is in pigtails despite her age, seems to be casting something on you. After a few seconds you feel completely rested and the girl backs off, looking at you to check if you’re ok.

After apparently passing inspection, Ms. Wiese comes back in front of you.

“Mr. Galt, are you ok now?” she asks.

You almost reply to her…then you look around at the gathered amount of girls which is quite large, some of which are looking at you with looks that you don’t particularly like.

My point is that it's not.

Naruto can summon infinite useless clones because author fiat says that he can still stand even with a thousandth of the chakra that he should justifiably have.

We'd have to spend ingame time working to pay for the swords and spend more time enchanting them, only for them all to get smashed without accomplishing a single wound on the enemy. That is not a legitimate tactic by any stretch of the imagination.

Note to self, we should NOT reveal ms. black's name to others. we went ahead and told everyone she is called ms. black even though she doesn't normally even tell people that (we had to earn that). We got away with that, but I would rather not go telling everyone her real name
