Your consciousness settles into the blurry entity at the console. She...no, you, slump over. There's a lot of yelling somehwere far away.

The world soaks in slowly. You feel the helmet being pulled off you and hands gently laying you down. Hands go all over you, checking your neckt, feeling your breathing. You murmer that you're fine, but you don't think it came out clearly. Voices shout to be quiet and listen, and give you space.

You actually feel great. It's like the feeling you have after a really good workout. Your body is heavy and a little unfamiliar though. You flex your muscles and sit up, someone holds your back.

You see Devon being checked out by Jeanine. He looks exhausted but unhurt

"Are you okay?" Robin puts a hand on your forehead. Her eyes dart all over your face.

You're pretty sure you're in one piece. Everything is feeling more and more normal.

You try to get to your feet to head over to Devon. Instead, you end up putting all of your weight on Robin. Your head is still light and your body is so heavy. You wrap your arms around her and she struggles to keep you steady.

Jeanine is checking out Devon while Judy checks out Drowzee. They both nod to each other that the Pokemon are alright. Devon slowly comes to meet you. Robin helps you get closer to him, but she wasn't ready to take your weight and you both collapse. You let your head lay on her chest for a minute. You can't see her face, but you almost feel the heat from her blushing.

"I'm fine now." Devon rests his head on you, putting more weight on Robin. You snuggle into her chest some more. So comfy. You close your eyes

"K-Kat!" Robin tries to shake you.

Vance rushes to Clair. "What did your machine do? What did you do!" His eyes look angry and afraid.

Judy steps in front of him. "Calm down sir, or I'll have to ask you to leave."

"It's fine." Clair weakly waves her off. "He's mad. I'm mad too. Prosapia told us this device was tested and safe. Judy, please get one of their representatives on the phone."

Judy looks Vance up and down, adjusts her glasses, and leaves. "Right away."

Clair looks up at Vance. "I thought it was safe, Vance. I didn't know." Guilt is evident on her face.

He looks down at her and his eyes narrow. He doesn't say anything.

Clair doesn't back down from his gaze. "I thought it was safe. I didn't know!" She looks angry now. "It was an accident! It wasn't my fault! Stop thinking it!"

You saw how guilty Clair felt about what she did to Vance by accident years ago. It looks like neither of them have really moved passed it. Does Vance even know what she did? If not, he clearly suspects something.

Reluctantly, you pull yourself off of Robin. In the back of your mind you're still concerned about whatever secret she's keeping from you, but at the moment it's really hard to get passed how comfy she is and how good she smells. Devon resting his head on you was nice too. Getting up takes a lot of willpower.

You look to Vance. "I'm fline, itsh ookay."

Everyone looks at you. You smile and shake your head. Let's try that again. "I'm fine. It's okay." There we go. "It wasn't her fault, Vance. I think I must have just pushed the machine past what it was designed to do. She's not the kind of person to knowingly do something that can hurt others."

Vance gives her one more look then backs down. "Sorry." He mumbles.

Clair looks like you feel. She turns to Robin. "Do you mind if we have your match later?"

Robin nods. "S-sure."

"Thank you." She doesn't bother to ask Vance. "Come by tomorrow and we'll figure something out." Clair yawns and looks around the gym.. "I wish I could clone Judy."

Jeanine puts a hand on Vance's shoulder. "We can take your Pokemon to the center if you want."

Clair lifts herself out of her seat. Her skinny pale legs get covered back up by her black dress. "Great. Finally. I'm going to take a nap. I'll get you your badge tomorrow."

You let your friends handle things as Vance gives you a piggyback to the hotel. Robin comes too and opens the doors.

You don't even remember being tucked in.

You wake up with no idea how much time has passed. Your Pokeballs, and clothes are all laying on the nightstand. You get dressed before you realize the door to the next room is ajar. You hear laughter. Robin, Jeanine, and... Clair?

The group laughs. She really is related to Vance, except that was funnier. You stifle a laugh yourself. One thing stands out though. Clair doesn't look like she's used to this. Knowing the inside of her head, and seeing the expression on her face, she looks like she almost can't believe that she's having a good time with people.

'Can I help you?' Her voice echoes in your head. Damnit! 'I've been checking in on your head from time to time. I'm not trying to spy or anything. It looks like you are though.'

You feel insulted. 'Is what I'm doing any different from what you do?'

But, you suppose you should be merciful and change the subject. "Where's Vance? How long was I out?"

"Vance won too. He didn't stick around after. I tried to go with him, but he said he needed time to sort things out alone." Jeanine rushes through that explanation and hands you a drink. She's hiding her concern. "You woke up a few times. I guess you don't remember. You've been sleeping since your match this morning. We ran into Clair and decided to have the battles today. We got here back about an hour ago." You drink down whatever she handed you. Plain water. It's really, really good though.

Clair throws up her hands. "I just woke up from sleeping all day, battled Robin, and I went easy on him! He's such a sore winner!" She crosses her arms. "He used to do that when we were kids too. He should be back any second now."

As much progress as Vance made with his Pokemon, you think that those factors are probably the reason he won. He's a good guy, but just not on the same level for battling.

Did you know she taught her Golem Sucker Punch? It was so fast! She used Joltik and Dratini too. I think Joltik is close to evolving. Golem and Joltik were knocked out, but Dratini took Inkay in the end."

That sounds like it would be interesting. "What about Vance?"

She looks excited. "He was amazing! When he had Stunky out, he used Taunt before she could do any status moves, and Feint when she went on the defensive. Ursaring faced Drowzee. Clair thought she had that in the bag when she put Ursaring to sleep. Instead, he used Snore. Drowzee flinched until Ursaring woke up. She was not happy. No ma'am!" Jeanine is really into this. "It came down to a one-on-one. He used Machop against Solrock, which believe me, everyone was surprised with. It came down to a single move. Well, two. Solrock used Psychic, and Vance used Low Sweep."

Your eyebrows go up. "Low Sweep? And he won?"

Jeanine is giddy. "He used it to dodge! Machop can do his attacks really fast, but he never dodges. When Machop went down low, Solrock completely missed! Machop grabbed Solrock from below and finished him with Seismic Toss."

You take in the mental image, then Jeanine continues. "He looked so happy for a second, then retrieved his Pokemon and left."

You nudge Jeanine forward. "Call me over if you need anything."

She nods, then walks over to him. Their sillouettes meet.

You lean against a rock and watch for a good while. Instead of doing nothing, you decide to let out your Pokemon.

Trunks nuzzles you. Devon licks your face. Dan nudges you off the rock and instead you sit on top of him. He's really gotten fine control now. He struggles to stay still a little with you on top, but not as much as you'd think.

You look up to see if Jeanine needs your help. It looks like things are going well. Vance and Jeanine come over.

"Hey," he says, scratching behind his head. "Sorry to cause all this drama."

You punch him in the arm playfully. "Yeah Vance, you're totally the cause of all the drama in the group." It's a shot at yourself.

"I've been an idiot. I thought if I beat her it would mean something. It just felt...I don't know. Hollow."

"Want to see something cool?" He throws out a Pokemon. A Machoke appears. "He evolved after we went for a walk. From a hug."

You congratulate him and Machoke. Machoke just does not stop showing off his muscles.

Jeanine takes you both by the arm. "Let's go back."

Vance nods. "I don't know what got into me. I don't even know why I was so upset with her. She's always been better than me at everything and our parents always gave her this special attention. I'll admit I can get jealous." He looks ahead. "She's never done a single thing to me."

You inhale sharply on that note, but catch yourself before he sees. He must not know what she did to his mind a few years ago.

You're almost back. Vance speaks up one more time. "Do you think she let me win?"

It's behind the middle shade, you can't see it because the view is eye level. Here, I've prepared a top down concept sketch. As you can see there are rods that extend along the sides as per a normal pair of sunglasses, but there are also connecting rods that go along the ridges between each orb of the magnezone in order to suspend the fourth lens. Clearly this design is a marvel of engineering that is totally not something I just came up with because I forgot about the back of magnezone.

You think she's mostly jealous that he makes friends easily and she doesn't. That's probably why she came back with you guys to the hotel. With her brother hanging out with your group, she has an in with you.

Both of them turn to you. Vance speaks. "Yeah. Clair didn't really share a lot of details about that."

You move to open the door.

"Don't feel like you have to talk about it. Vance is just uncomfortable with you being inside his sister."

You both laugh. Even Vance can't put up an offended front.

The door opens and you all enter laughing. Clair is sitting on a couch. Robin comes out of the other room wearing a different outfit. "How about this?" She looks up at you, Vance, and Jeanine. "I-it was going to be a surprise. It's mostly Clair's old clothes."

Robin has a miniskirt, chic hat, and a tight fitting t-shirt with the Pokemon League logo on it.

Clair looks at Vance. "Hey."

He puts on a smile to show her. "Hey."

She looks encouraged. "Want to talk?"

"How about I shout instead?" He closes his eyes.

There's an awkward silence as something passes between them. Vance looks around the room. "Do you guys mind if Clair hangs with us tonight? We're umm, we're good."

She puts her hands behind her head. "No, I'm good. Vance is just alright."

He playfully chases after her. She trips him onto the couch with her mind. He goes over the top and lands behind it. He gets up.up. "I'm fine. I'm alright."

"See?" Clair leans back again.

You don't get it, but they seem happy. Must be a sibling thing.

Well, there are still things up in the air with Vance and Clair, and also you and Robin, but you don't know if you want to stir anything up right now.
