"Wait here for a moment," Genryu says, approaching the entrance to your massive home. The washed-up old man opens the sliding door, enters, and promptly closes it up again as the rest of you wait patiently outside.

You're about to converse with your friends when a familiar face walks by, the groundskeeper who's always repairing the front doors. He's a bald and rather old man, with bushy white eyebrows and a white goatee. The sandals on his feet just keep clacking along as he moves.

"Master Anaru," he greets you with a polite smile and wave. Not one to forget common courtesy, you return the gesture.

"Heya. Sorry about the doors from my last visit, you know how he is."

"Yes, I do. However!" The groundskeeper's eyes light up with fiery spirit as he performs a rather exuberant fist-pump. "These new doors are triple-reinforced! The unique cross-bracing design will now withstand even your father's-!"

"MY SOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNNNN!"

Instinct takes over once again as you sidestep like always, your old man effortlessly destroying the sliding doors as he leaps toward where you're standing...or were standing, in any case. He hits the dirt and slides against it for a good while, mouth filling comically with a large amount of dirt as he does.

The groundskeeper freezes in mid-speech, hanging his head dejectedly as the "triple-reinforced" fragments settle on the wooden porch ahead.

You give the man a brief pat on the shoulder before continuing onward, with Satsuki and the rest of the Elite Five in tow.

It'll take that stupid old bastard a little while to recover and clean up. In the meantime, you've got some time to kill.

"C'mon," you beckon, moving to the most infamous section: the pool area. You lead your friends over to the tables by the kitchen area and sit them down. You no longer have the need for food, so all that's left is to find a way to kill time.

He's quick on the uptake, as usual. Seeing you in your Uniform has him moving quicker than usual. But neither he nor the groundskeeper, nor anyone else in the area, could truly be aware of your condition.

To anyone who doesn't already know, you're just in your activated Uniform for some reason. No big deal.

You're faster, much faster...so it takes a bit of effort to match his speed rather than exceed it. He's one of the last people you'd ever want to accidentally hurt.

So when his fist flies towards you, you're grateful for your level of self-control as you meet it with your own fist...exerting the exact same amount of pressure.

A simple "tap" is heard as the knuckles bump, and once again you are face-to-face with your beloved uncle.

"It's good to see you again," you say. His grin only widens as he removes the chef's hat and firmly plants it on top of your head, giving you one of the most ridiculous appearances imaginable. Your friends are barely holding back laughter and you groan, removing the hat and bonking the silly man with it.

"So, what brings you back home?"

"The answer my old man owes me."

Your uncle's smile quickly fades. Oh yeah, he's caught on, all right. He knows shit's about to get real.

"Listen, kid...what's in the past should just be let alone, sometimes. Will knowing what happened really change anything about today or tomorrow?"

"Even if it doesn't, I have to know," you insist. "I owe it to her and to myself. Think about it, Uncle. Everything's going perfectly fine, and then one day she's just...not anywhere anymore. Like she never existed in the first place."

"You know my brother just wanted to protect you. He didn't want to see you hurt, and neither do I."

"Whoever taught him to be a father did a shit job of it," you hiss, "because I'd have appreciate the pain of the truth far more than the pain of deceit. I'm done letting him slither away with the answers I need."

Uzu flips backwards over his chair. Gamagoori sweats a little and Satsuki merely blinks, dumbfounded. Nonon, on the other hand, is practically radiating with desire. Her eyes, which remain perfectly transfixed on the cat, are sparkling.

Or perhaps it would be more truthful to say that what had caught her eye was not just the cat, but rather the work of art resting upon its head.

"Even the pets?!" Uzu shouts in disbelief from his position on the floor. You laugh and take a knee, petting the cat and taking great care not to touch its-

"LET ME TOUCH IT!"

You turn your head, but somehow cannot match her speed as Nonon leaps towards the poor animal.

"NO, NONON, NO!"

Her hand barely grazes the surface of the pompadour before your cat completely loses its mind, leaping into the air itself and viciously seeking retribution for the crime against its styling hair.

As Nonon flails back and forth in the background, struggling to defend herself from the wrathful demoncat, you turn your attention back to your uncle.

Just in time to watch Genryu enter the area. The women make to charge him, but he lifts a single hand and they halt immediately, returning to their various activities.

"Your friends can stay here and eat for a moment while you and I wait for them out back." For once, the man has a serious look about him. "We can talk while we wait for them to finish."

"Fine," you say, turning back to look at the coolest uncle in the universe. You extend a hand and he grips it, shaking it affectionately and resting a hand on your shoulder.

"Cook well and make sure they enjoy themselves," you say. "Tell them that joke you know."

"Ohhhhh..." The Head Chef's eyes light up like a Christmas tree and he nods rapidly, already chuckling.

You turn and follow Genryu outside.

You lift your head, surprised. But Genryu has closed his eyes, and is now perfectly focused on recollecting what happened all those years ago. Your friends take a seat near your boulder, and you reach down to help Satsuki up to the top. She sits cross-legged at your side, placing a reassuring hand on your forearm.

You take a moment to marvel at how much more relaxed she has become in the time that you've known her. You take a moment to appreciate the real Kiryuuin Satsuki, the girl behind the mask.

"It all started with Nudist Beach," Genryu grumbles out. Satsuki's eyes immediately widen, as do those of the Elite Five.

Your eyes can't widen, so you don't count.

"What?! Mom knew about that organization?"

"Knew about it?" Genryu laughs dryly. "She was their top scientist, son. She worked to destroy Life Fibers."

You look down at your metallic palms, and you're surprised to find that they are shaking. Strange...you don't feel afraid.

"But something went wrong one day, and instead," Genryu continues, eyes shut tight with pain. "She was destroyed by Life Fibers."

"Unbelievable," Satsuki mutters.

"There's a lot more to it," Genryu says, scratching his head. "NB doesn't know what I know."

Genryu looks to the sky and smiles sadly, looking more pitiful than he's ever been. In that moment you feel slightly, but only slightly, sorry for him.

"'People are people, and clothing is clothing. But we can all coexist, I know we can.' Those were your mother's words, and I knew from the look in her eyes that she truly believed it. Our bloodline is even proof of it."

"What do you mean?" Nonon asks, tilting her head a bit.

"The Ondori line is known for its unparalleled strength and legendary spirit," Genryu continues, stroking his beard. "But these qualities are merely prerequisites. Precursors to the real source of our power."

"Life Fibers," Uzu mutters. Satsuki's eyes widen.

"What he says is correct," you add. "The Path is our family's ultimate test of strength and spirit. Only the most focused and mentally fortified Ondori members make it to the very end, and at the end lies a very powerful Life Fiber organism...a hivemind that gathers them all together, a core of light that bestows power..."

"Primordial...Life Fiber..." Satsuki mumbles, her eyes wide with both fear and astonishment.

"Yes," Genryu admits, "That is what Kinue called it. And despite her inability to fight like most others in our family, she more than made up for it for her beautiful mind and powerful heart. Not to mention, she had another very special trait..."

"I knew it," you breathe, leaning forward. "That's why she disappeared every night, even when her vehicle was still here! She returned to the end of the Path, and then she...she..."

"She was speaking to it."

Everyone gasps. You can't feel your body anymore.

"And the night she disappeared, she shared with me its warning."

"Because I knew she wasn't pulling my leg," Genryu continues. "I've seen the damn thing down there, and I've heard it...pulsating...every time I checked up on it. Creeped me the hell out. Not to mention, your mother was as honest as she was kind. I know she'd never lie about something that serious."

"And so that's when she..." You choke up, unable to continue. Genryu nods.

"That was the last time I saw her alive," he confesses with a sigh. "And I won't ever forgive myself for letting her leave."

"Ondori Kinue..." Uzu says, crossing his arms. "What exactly was she trying to do? How could she speak with a Primordial Life Fiber?"

"Kinagase," Genryu corrects. "She kept her family name, and I kept mine. There is a reason for that, which I'll touch on later. For now...let's get to the question you've really wanted to have answered."

"What happened to her?" You ask with panic in your voice.

"I learned everything from a good friend inside the organization," Genryu says with a shaky voice. You can sense his anger; hell, you can practically taste it. "Those bastards," he continues, "didn't want us to know what had happened. I won't pretend to know what on earth they were thinking, but apparently hiding the truth from me was their number one priority. They want to do things their way, rather than Kinue's."

"Nudist Beach seeks destruction," Genryu adds, "And this 'Iridescent One' supposedly wants assimilation. But my Kinue..."

You shake your head and look away.

"Coexistence," Satsuki whispers.

"That's impossible!" Satsuki cries, rising to her feet as well.

"Is it, young lady? Think about your family's legacy, and think hard. Aren't there certain similarities between yours and mine?"

She falls silent at that.

"Anaru," your father says seriously, turning his gaze back to you. "Your mother was the light of this world. Had she lived, I'm sure humans would be coexisting with Life Fibers already. And that is precisely why she was targeted. Frankly, it's a miracle that the rest of our family wasn't."

"Unlike the Kiryuuins," Satsuki interjects, "your bloodline doesn't have the typical means for interfering with my mother's plans. You appear to be nothing but talk, that's all."

"Talk," you mutter. Your eyes find your father again as you calm down, the electric field around you subsiding. "You said mom could talk with this 'Primordial Life Fiber.' How is that possible?"

"I said I'd tell you another time," Genryu grumbles, sitting back down. "Let's just leave it at this, for now. Those who bear the name 'Kinue' have the inborn ability to communicate with Life Fibers. Our families became intertwined due to the legendary Ondori spirit and resolve. Most humans would crumble under the sheer power of Life Fibers, but we make it our own."

"And you," he booms, "are the culmination of both bloodlines. You are the strongest in the world," Genryu beams at you proudly. "Kinue and Ondori, together as one! I know she'd be proud of you."

Satsuki takes your hand in hers.

"Yes ma'am!" The five of you speak as one. Uzu and the others turn and run back to the entrance of your house. Satsuki follows suit and you prepare to do the same, but you only manage to take one step before freezing up completely.

"Be careful."

You turn back to look at him and, to your complete and utter disbelief, see your father cry for the first time in your entire life.

"I already lost her," he chokes out, rubbing one eye with a massive fist. "And I already lost you once, if you think about it." He chuckles, then, and its the most pathetic sound you've ever heard. "I don't want to lose you again."

"Don't worry," you respond, not used to speaking with him on a level like this. "Nothing can kill me anymore."

"Keh! Tempting fate, true to the Ondori blood inside you. Go on, then. Git outta here! Don't come back until that REVOCS Corp is a pile of smoldering ruins!"

You don't reply. You just run through the house and keep running, eager to catch up. You speed on by the kitchen and your Uncle catches your hand in a high-five before you completely pass him by.

"Go get 'em!"

You leap through the hole where the front doors used to be and find Satsuki's personal helicopter waiting. The rotors are already spinning.

"No train?" You laugh over the noise. Satsuki shrugs and gives you a slight smile.

"When urgent travel is needed, the means for that travel is a simple phone call away. I had them follow us here, in the event that something extreme happens."

"Well, it happened," you sigh, rising into the heli. "So, now what?"

"Now," Satsuki says, "We find Matoi Ryuuko and continue her training. The Rebellion is almost upon us."

You say no more, and the flight begins.

Fucking incredible, the second half of track 5 works perfectly as credits music.

Word of advice to whoever archives those: change the "Kill_la_Kill" tag to just "Kill la Kill".
That way, it will be bundled together with most of the previous threads.
