Nagita's eyes widen like crazy.

"What do you think, nee-chan?"

Ryuuko takes a deep breath and, resisting her urge to immediately lash out, plays along with a smile. "Could use some touching up here and there, heh."

You notice that Nagita is clenching his fists rather tightly, and that all but confirms it.

"I knew it was you the moment those wretched fingers of yours touched my body," you say. With a wave of your hand, the pauldrons separate and reveal the terrifying stars that lie in wait.

Blinding light briefly envelops the slums, crashing back down and coalescing in the blink of an eye. And there you stand, in Heaven's Regalia.

Ryuuko activates her Kamui and, after what appears to be some encouragement from Senketsu, moves up to take her place at your side. She levels the Scissor Blade towards Nagita and scowls, ready to go.

And he laughs. He laughs, and he laughs, and SHE laughs...the voice losing its deeper tones and hitting a high note as Nagita's hands swing upward, revealing the many threads attached to each finger. A quick swipe of both arms and her disguise is effortlessly torn to shreds, revealing the person you were expecting.

The Grand Courturier, Harime Nui.

"Honestly," she giggles, teeth flashing and pupil dilated, "I hate your guts. I swear I'll rip them out for what you just said to me! I pinkie promise!"

"Keep your pinkie away from me, or else I'll break the damn thing." You don't need it, but for the sake of appearances you dispense a fresh toothpick and stick it in one of the vents where your mouth would normally be.

The tension in the air is thick and, actually, quite invigorating as well. You're feeling so alive, and ready for a good scrap.

Her smile doesn't falter with that one, although to be perfectly honest, you weren't really expecting it to. She's on her guard now, fully aware that you'll be trying to push her buttons.

You'll need to be creative if your goal is to put her off her game. It just needs to be long enough for Ryuuko to hit at the right time. Do this right, and it could all be over in one blow!

"Ah, of course not. You're still as terrifyingly strong as when we first fought."

"Ooooh? Putting on a smart face, huh? How cute!"

"I appreciate the complement," you retort, stretching a little, "but I'm not necessarily single. And I sure as hell am not your type."

"Neither am I~!" She sings, and that introduces an unexpected reversal. Now you're the one who's caught off guard, and that's dangerous.

"Oh, do tell," you bait, watching her closely. Nui giggles and presses a finger to her lips, and for a moment, you could swear that her usual psychotic face has vanished completely.

She almost looks normal for a second.

"Sssh. That's not something for boys to hear," Nui says with a wink.

Something's...off. Something is definitely not right here, but you can't afford to lose focus. Ryuuko isn't quite ready for her window of opportunity, yet, and it's up to you to maintain that window for as long as possible.

"That's fine," you offer with a shrug. "Your taste in men is shit, I'm sure, so it's not like I need to hear an hour-long spiel about your scumbag boyfriend."

That's when it happens. Playtime is over and you've clearly tapdanced over the line, because suddenly Nui's scissor is in your face and she's dragging you across the slums, lashing out like crazy.

Beneath your left breast, you can feel something. A lone fiber, more special than the others, is quivering with fear and shrinking away from every blow.

You have a feeling that protecting this single Fiber is paramount...

The cold black of true fear is pulsating throughout your entire body, and you despise it. You know it has nothing to do with you!

It's them. The Life Fibers.

The Life Fibers that you have bound yourself to are shaking with fear, resisting in vain against that razor-sharp Scissor.

You can sense that they, too, are comprised of Life Fibers. The Scissor Blades are indiscriminate, however. They do not distinguish between friend or foe, they merely destroy.

And in the hands of a great destroyer like Harime Nui, these weapons are frightening indeed.

But you fight well, and at long last...she makes her move!

"RYUUKO!"

"HHHHHHHHHUUUUUUAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!"

Nui turns her head but is nowhere near quick enough to react in time, her expression full of surprise as Ryuuko descends upon her with her Scissor in Decapitation Mode.

Their blades make contact, and the shockwave knocks you out of their business for a while. Coming in from behind you, Ryuuko's surprise attack now carries Nui in the opposite direction, ripping the ground apart as her wrath carries her father's murderer all the way across town.

She spins in midair and shortens the Scissor, bringing it to her side.

"Heaven's Beauty," she cries, Senketsu's one eye wild with excitement. "Fresh Blood!"

It's an iaido attack, but one unlike any you've ever seen or imagined before. She swings the sword up as an afterimage, one that Nui luckily falls for.

A shower of rose petals descend as the real Ryuuko swings upward, once again extending into Decapitation Mode.

Crimson shines and crimson splashes in turn, Nui screaming in agony as her right arm is severed and tossed up into the air.

She slides backwards and manages to catch it in her teeth, which have become elongated like those of a shark. She's furious and afraid, stepping back like a cornered animal.

Good. That's what she needs, a taste of defeat.

You take a step forward, and then he comes.
