You’re having a quiet conversation with Cassandra on your way back from Muir Woods, when she changes the topic to matters relating to school.

“I was talking to a few friends of mine a couple days ago,” she says, “and we think we can get you your records transferred in and get you your own class schedule. What kinds of electives would you want?”

You take a second to think about it as you rub more aloe on your burned arms.

>Who are your friends, exactly?
>I’d prefer to stick to classes I’ve been going to with Ro, where possible. I’ve already got my teeth sunk into them kind of.
>If you get my records switched over, people’ll know where I am.
(Choose two electives)
>Art stuff, probably. They’re the most brain dead kind of classes out there.
>Do they teach Russian there?
>Maybe something with journalism. Everyone I know does school paper stuff.
>Somebody I know [Baron] has a class called science fiction fantasy literature. Is that like, a real thing?

The second one I don't much care about. Russian's cool, SciFa Lit is cool, maybe even basketball could be kinda neat. I guess the only one that doesn't really wow me is the journalism class.

Electives? Well, you always enjoyed art stuff in the past, so you figure you may as well stick with that. “The easiest thing I can think about is art, probably,” you say. “I mean, if it doesn’t mess up my other classes too bad. I’d rather stay with Ro as much as possible – I’m kind of piggy-backing my social circle off of hers.”

“So art for sure,” says Cass. “Any other ideas?”

Actually, you have too many. “Uhm. I don’t know. Do you know if they teach Russian there?”

“Yes. National High has a pretty diverse language program. Borislav get you thinking about it?”

“Maybe,” you say. Still, languages might be hard work. You recall Baron’s class loadout including something called Science Fiction Fantasy Literature. “But is there like, a class called Sci Fi Fantasy? One of Ro’s friends takes that, and it doesn’t sound like school at all.”

Cassandra smiles. “It’s a real class. It’s usually pretty full, but I think they had a couple kids drop out this semester for some reason.

Geeze, you hate making decisions.

Cass senses your indecision. “You could always take one this semester and take another the next,” she says.

While reading books seems cool, you figure you do that anyway. What you won’t do on your own is figure out how to talk to Borya. “Maybe I will take Russian. I haven’t taken a language yet anyway, probably need one to graduate,” you say. “And speaking of, if you get my records moved, I mean, people will know where I am.”

“So?” asks Cassandra.

You frown. “I mean. I did kind of run away from my last foster home. Like. The police will want to know where I went and stuff.”

“We can tell them you came here,” Cass says.

“There’s going to be problems.” There are always problems.

“It’s all right,” says Cass, reassurance in her demeanor. “We have friends that solve problems.”

The way she tells you this has an odd note of finality to it. You get the feeling you really don’t need to be worried about anybody snooping around the circumstances of your disappearance and reappearance.

>Because that’s not vague or anything.

That right there. That right there sounded like some shit you'd hear on the Sopranos or something.
I'm half considering saying that as a write-in. Maybe in my head I was having her put too much emphasis on the word "problems".
>If you say so, I guess.

Yay, Hellborn Quest right before I have to leave. :(

>>

>>
>>32534842

>>
You feel there’s some kind of landmine down that road, so you figure you’ll just let it slide for now. “Well okay, why didn’t you just say so? Not like I knew you were Tony Soprano and had a million problem-solving friends,” you say. You decide not to press her on the issue, though.

You’re in a good place right now. The best place you’ve been in a while, actually. Even with all your weird demon battling stuff and weird crazy powers and murderous sprees, you would rather things stay the way they’ve been for the past several days than for anything crazy to happen and change everything. Child services could royally screw you over right now if they got their mitts on you. You’ve only got to hold out till your eighteenth birthday, and you’ll be free of all that junk for the rest of your days.

The rest of the drive passes in short order. You’re happy enough to hit the hay after the cars are unloaded, and have no trouble falling into a comfortable, dreamless sleep.

HP: 14/14

Stress: 38/100

“You ditched school to go camping,” says Baron.

“It was my dad’s idea,” Ro replies. “It was an excused absence.”

“Yeah,” you chip in unhelpfully. “An excused absence.” You down the remnants of your coke. Not your preferred option, but the closest they had available. Nobody can get it all right.
>>
>>32535463

Today’s been a little more stressful than usual – you find keeping your normal façade up is a bit more of an active effort than it’s been in the past. There’s so much to keep track of. Claws, teeth, horns, and your pale death complexion. You keep catching yourself just before something pops out without you realizing it.

You’re sitting with Ro and company in the cafeteria. You notice some gothy looking chick checking out your sweet jacket as she walks by, but an interjection from Vikrama pulls your attention back to the matters at hand.

“Ro needs to live her life in her own way,” Vik says. “Even if it includes random family camping trips in the middle of the school week. Your family’s done stranger things, Baron.”

“Yeah, your family’s done stranger things,” you parrot after her.

“Quit it,” says Baron.

“Family camping trips?” Ro asks, intentionally misunderstanding him.

“No, I’m talking to – you know who I’m talking to,” Baron says, keeping a flat face.

He’s obviously talking to you, so you humor him. “Quit what?” you ask.

“You know what,” he says.

You show him your teeth. “You can’t handle the heat?”

Vikrama and Rowan content themselves with watching the repartee without direct involvement.
>>
>>32535475

“Please, you’re not even putting up a low simmer,” he says dismissively. “I’m just worried that if you don’t stop soon, you won’t be able to. Imagine it, you’d be stuck mimicking everybody around you for the rest of your days.”

Rowan gasps, breaking back into the interplay. “Sierra, I think you should listen to him.”

“Yeah, I think that I should listen – oh geeze, you’re right,” you say, aghast.

“It’s all right, sweet child,” says Vikrama in a soothing tone. “You're safe now.”

Your phone rings. Who the hell could be calling you? You flip out your cell, and see the name EDWARD CULLEN displayed prominently at the center of your phone, along with an accompanying number. Dammit.

Rowan looks over your shoulder. “Oh.”

“Who is it? Answer it, now!” Vikrama shouts.

>It’s nobody important. (You’ll call him back later.)
>I gotta take this.
>Eghck. It’s Twilight.

Miss last thread? We touched the heart of the forest or some shit and it supercharged all the demony parts. Also gave her horns that don't go away at all and they're being hidden with a spell Borya did.
>>
>>32535564
Speaking of the heart of the forest, we need to figure out somewhere that has another landwell if we want to git gud fast.

We also need to ask Isaac if some other landmaster could just waltz into the forest and steal away our +10PP or if it's ours for life.

Maybe we should get high enough in the Verwelkan tree to unlock effective invisibility. Then we wouldn't have to worry about maintaining a human appearance, we could just sneak sneak sneak.
>>
>>32535590
I think that's a bad idea. It was implied that landwells are coveted, I imagine the only reason this one wasn't claimed already was because it belonged to our dad. I guess that would make him confirmed dead.

My point is, if we go searching for other landwells we (1) probably wouldn't be able to handle it and (2) would piss the fuck off whatever entity lays claim to other landwells around the area.

We'd, quite frankly, be biting off way more than we could chew.
>>
>>32535671
I imagine that'd be darkness-dependant. Kind of difficult to maintain that in a school environment.

Should we seek out a zen teacher or something and work on maybe an hour meditation a day to bump our stress down?
>>
>>32535716
It's not just school. I was talking about for walking around public in general. School isn't the only place we want to not look demony fresh.
>>
>32535731
Man we are going to look metal as fuck walking around the house in our PJs!
>>
>>32535731
Aye, but I can't imagine it ever working in daytime, at least not the exposed well-lit public places we'd be visiting. It'd be super neat at night, no doubt, but as a workaround the stress levels I don't think it'd work.
>>
>>32535499
>Eghck. It’s Twilight.
>>
>>32535782
I have a hunch that the high level Verwelkan tree has stuff like walking between shadows like they're portals and being able to go unseen with the tiniest smidgen of shadow. Not nearly as effective during the daytime, but more than enough to get around unnoticed.
>>
>>32535696
Depends on how exactly landwells function. We need to figure out of LMs can only take unclaimed wells or if there's some kind of thing where they pit their power against one another if they try to take an already claimed well. If it's the former, then (2) isn't even a thing. If it's the latter, then we just don't go for claimed wells.

I can see (1) being an issue for now, yeah, but we don't have to go for more wells right this minute. We can wait until we get more accustomed to the one we already have and learn how the things work better. Cassandra did say that the powerful LMs have upwards of a dozen of the things. I'd frankly be shocked if we couldn't handle more than one.
>>
“This is not a conversation I want to have right now,” you say, looking at the phone. “I’ve got to take this, guys. I’ll be right back.” You stand and walk off some distance before you answer the phone. And you keep walking. You don’t want anyone overhearing anything.

“Yello,” you say.

“I’d rather not have this conversation over the phone,” comes Waldric’s voice.

“You didn’t think this through, did you,” you answer. “I mean, we’re on the fucking phone right now. There’s no other way to have this conversation.”

“Wow, you’re clever,” says Waldric. “How exactly did you manage to kill Nabuth again?”

“Fire,” you say, probably honestly. “Lots of fire.”

“Right. I’m only calling to tell you when we’re going to meet, so we can discuss some details of our arrangement. Like where you can find Ranthix and Cordeliate.”

“So,” you say, “when?”

“Oh. I’d say about, two minutes from now?” says Waldric.
>>
>>32535961

“Yeah buddy, I’m kind of busy right now.” You’re not ditching school for a clandestine meeting with a Belphegoran.

“I know, that’s why I took the liberties to arrange our meeting somewhere convenient for you.”

Your stomach gets shot with ice at his comment. “You’re here?” you ask, your voice choked. (+4 Stress: 42/100)

“No, I’m in the gym. Come alone. I see Demonbane, the deal’s off. You have two minutes.” He hangs up on you.

You clench your fingers around your phone and shove it back into your pocket. You’re beginning to regret agreeing to this. (+2 Stress: 44/100) Waldric hasn’t really given you that many options.

>How do you respond?
>>
>>32535842
We have a +1Stress every hour problem now, there's no way saving up for Verwelken level-up goodness is going to solve that for us.

>>32535895
I imagine (1) might become a problem if we start nomming up swathes of landwells, or come across one that is already claimed. Isaac did say they were territorial.

(2) is what I am worried about, but I definitely think we can expand our reach later. We need to get a better grip on our abilities though, as well as get those stress levels down. Taking that first landwell nearly pushed us right from 'okay' to 'fuck everything' mode.

Is deamonic mediation even a thing?

I'm still not convince this Walrus fella isn't pulling a double-cross. If ----- wanted to take out the Hallows (and us) the best way to do that would be to feed them information on where and who to attack through a supposed traitor.

It'd be all too easy to set up an ambush in wait around one or both of the targets.

Oh, I see it now. Guess I didn't expect it to be in the ability section since it's not exactly something that is 'used'. Seems sorta like putting "she has feet with which she can run and kick" in the abilities. On the other hand, it does have a damage value listed, so I guess it makes sense there.

You flip out your phone and text the basics of the situation to Rowan. You trust her not to do anything overtly dumb.

You’re worried about this being some kind of gamey plot to kill you, but you don’t think Waldric would try it at your school. You’re certain you’d make a lot of noise before you went down, and Wally probably doesn’t want the attention.

You head to the gym, and do what you can to maintain composure. If this is some kind of trick, you’ll definitely be ripping Waldric apart before he can worm his way out of it. You push into the doors. There are students playing basketball and volleyball, and generally just hanging out.

Waldric doesn’t stick out too much where he sits at the near top of the bleachers. He’s changed his attire into something matching that of a teenager. His features have a kind of agelessness to them that seem to blend into whatever his wardrobe happens to be. The younger fashion makes him appear younger while his actual looks remain exactly the same.
>>
>>32536389

You work your way over to him and pick your way around the people in your way.

You take up a seat next to the demon, close enough that you could attack if you needed to, but far enough away that his winning looks don’t make you too uncomfortable. Good thing he’s a jerk. He’d be more dangerous if he seemed kind.

Waldric smiles slightly at you. “I’m glad you came,” he says. “I would apologize if I were sorry, but I’m not. This is the only safe way for us to meet, though there was a good chance you wouldn’t show up at all.”

>I thought there was a good chance you’d still be an ass.

Wordlessly, Waldric produces a slip of paper from nowhere and hands it over to you. You snap it out of his fingers without touching him. There’s an address written on it, in fancy black calligraphy.

“Ten PM tomorrow they’ll both be there,” he says, standing up. He straightens his disheveled clothing, making it become somehow even more disheveled. Purposeful messiness disgusts you. “Have fun.” He smirks at you and starts walking away.

When you walk out of the gym, you find Rowan waiting for you just out of sight. “Did he tell you?” she asks.

You show her the card. “It’s happening tomorrow night, ten PM. Two of Meckor’s guys will be there, but there’s a good chance it’s a trap.”

She takes out her phone and takes the card from you to text the information thereon to her parents. “Dad doesn’t trap easily,” she says.

--

The rest of school goes okay, though the impending… whatever that’s going to happen tomorrow sits at the back of your brain. The added concentration of looking normal doesn’t factor in well either, but you still manage to cool yourself somewhat. (-4 Stress: 38/100)

When you arrive back at the house after school, you and Rowan find Isaac at the table, with a map and several aerial photo print offs on the dining room table. The place looks like some fancy rich guy’s house. Next to the photos, he has blueprints laid out as well. There’s a huge subterranean garage under the house probably capable of fitting a dozen cars, a pool and a pool house in the back yard, and other stuff. The entire compound is surrounded by a high fence, and is located by a golf course.

Cassandra walks in and lays down another sheet of blueprints for the house. “Thanks, honey,” Isaac says, picking up the paper to look at it more closely. He looks at you and Ro as you walk in.
>>
>>32537817

“That the place?” asks Rowan.

“The address,” says Isaac. “It’s a big piece of property outside the city, up in the hills. It’s in a secluded location, defensible. A good place to hide.”

“A good place for an ambush?” you ask. You’ve let your horns come back into view to relieve some of the pressure the illusion exerts. You feel a bit of relief at not having to keep hidden. (-2 Stress: 36/100)

“Anywhere can be good for an ambush with preparation,” Isaac says thoughtfully. “This looks like a big asset to throw away for an ambush, though. I would have expected something down by the docks or in a cheaper area. Still, I’m not ruling out the possibility this is a trap.”

>Do we have enough time to prepare?
>So, do you know anything about the guys we’re up against?

She'd have been pretty damn young. And our appearance is so similar the Hallows would have assumed it was us if they had a glance at the killer.

It was probably someone not immediately related to us or Mum.

“So, the demons that are supposed to be there,” you say. “Do you know anything about them?”

“A lot more than I did about the Stygian. They’re not as subtle,” Isaac says, still pouring over the maps. “I didn’t know their names before, but I’m fairly sure of who they are. Ranthix is bad news. He handles Meckor’s personal security. He’s fast, tough, and lethal - he’s gone up against a couple big hitters and came out on top. Probably Infernus, from what I’ve heard.”

“What about Cordeliate?” you ask.

“She isn’t front line,” Isaac answers, “but she’s probably responsible for more suffering than any one of the others. She handles Meckor’s slaving work.”

You blink at that. “Why would a demon want to kidnap somebody?”

“Mortal slaves are in high demand down below,” Isaac says. “Slave trafficking can net a demon a lot of profit for a minimum of work. Cordeliate has a talent with picking out who’s safe to steal, and who’s worth going out on a limb to take.”

“We assume that one’s a Belphegoran,” says Rowan, a subtle anger in her voice. “Blood sucking parasite.”

Isaac sighs. “Which probably means there will be captives on sight, if she’s involved,” he says. “Hostages complicate everything.”

You don’t think you want to know what demons do with the people unfortunate enough to wind up getting captured and sent to hell. “And… what’s stopping us from just… calling the police?” you ask. “They could get like, SWAT down there or something.”
>>
>>32539401

Isaac shakes his head. “Regular law enforcement would get torn up if they went in there, and the demons we’re actually after would likely make a getaway. We are SWAT.”

“We call the police as soon as the coast is clear,” says Rowan. “They do good damage control.”

This is getting ridiculous. You’re no swat operative, no matter how cool you are with your claws. But… if anybody deserved getting ripped to shreds more, you couldn’t name any names. This feels like something you have to do. Things like this are what got Benjamin killed. (+5 Stress: 41/100)

Your nervousness is something you should figure out if you’re going to be any help to the Hallows. “I’m… is there something I can do until then?” you ask. “Like. Relaxation techniques or something? This is… a little more pressure than I’m used to dealing with.”

Cassandra, who has not been far away the whole time, steps over by your side. “I think I can help a little there,” she says.

“Oh,” you say, a little surprised. “Really?”

She nods. “Let’s talk.”
>>
>>32539417

You and her walk off a little ways, and she sits you down on the floor in the family room, secluded from the action planning going on between Rowan and Isaac. She sits down crosslegged across from you. “I know you’ve lived with what you can do for a long time,” she says, “and maybe you’re used to keeping it all to yourself. I can’t offer you an answer to everything, but maybe I can help a little bit if we talk about it. So. How many people have you talked to about your… control issues?”

This isn’t really a subject you’re comfortable talking about. Though, it could be necessary if you’re not going to explode tomorrow.

>Before I tell you anything, what kind of answers you're thinking about? Cause I’m not taking any more fucking drugs.
>I’m kind of done with psychology BS. Can’t you just like, show me some breathing exercises or some crap?

“I’m not taking drugs,” you say, your tone resolute.

“I wasn’t saying…”

“They never tell you up front,” you say. “They just give it to your foster parents and have them slip it in your food or tell you it’s aspirin, or yell at you until you take it or something, if you don’t want to take it. So if your answer involves a prescription to Ritalin or Vyvanse or whatever, this conversation is done.”

Cassandra takes a breath. “No drugs,” she says. “I promise.”

“I’m holding you to that,” you say flatly. You pause while you gather your thoughts. The only person in recent memory you’ve talked to about things was Rowan. “So. I told Ro about it, a little,” you say. “She asked.”

“Do you mind telling me what you told her?” Cass asks, carefully. “What it feels like right now? Maybe… the first time it happened?”

The first time.

“It was just a couple weeks after school started,” you say, frowning. “I was in fourth grade? Just… not too long after… things. It was kind of hard, like, a new school and stuff. And like, you know, I wasn’t used to moving yet, so the other kids were being jerks. And it was just like that all the time, and I started getting these headaches being a little bitch to my foster parents, cause I didn’t get it yet,” you say, feeling mad at your younger self for her ignorance.

“And it was always just a pressure behind my skull,” you continue, “but it kept building. And some days it would get better, but then more stuff would happen and it’d get worse. Just this whole buildup of me being angry and crap. And then one day it was recess, you know? And I was playing four square, and I was like, totally doing like, really good. Winning. And then everybody just like, clicked, like they all got the same idea at the same time, and they all just said I wasn’t allowed to play anymore.”

The memory still makes you mad to this day. Those fucking arrogant kids all looking at you like you should know better than to beat them, because you’re just the stupid new girl with long hair who keeps crying in class. (+5 Stress: 46/100)

“What happened?” Cassandra prompts, quietly.

You are slow to answer. “Have you ever been so mad that you just want to break everything?” you reply.
>>
>>32540666

“Because that’s what happened. But I guess it didn’t stop? And the next thing I know, I’m being held down on the asphalt by two yard duties and there’s like, everyone in the school around me in this huge circle, just staring.”

You hospitalized a couple of those kids that day. After that the drugs and psychologists started. The next time it happened, your fake family decided some other fake family would be a better match for you. (+3 Stress: 49/100)

“When regular people lose it,” you say, “it’s just for a second. And I mean, a regular person would like, smash a cup on the floor or hit somebody in the face in that second, without thinking. But for me, it lasts for minutes, that kind of blinding anger. And as it turns out, you can smash a lot of cups in five minutes,” you say. “It doesn’t just fade away, all of the stuff that builds up. I go to sleep and wake up with the crap from yesterday still right with me. It sticks with me wherever I go. And when I can’t get rid of it fast enough, it just… lets itself out on its own.”

Cassandra listens intently all the time while you’re speaking, and waits a little bit to be sure you’re done after you fall quiet. At length, she finally does say something back. “It takes a lot of courage to share something like that with somebody you don’t know that well, Sierra,” she says. “Thank you for telling me.”

“There’s nothing wrong with you,” says Cassandra. “You just have different kinds of things you have to deal with. What you’ve told me, that aspect of yourself might always be a part of you. But you’ve already made the decision not to let it control you, and that’s what’s important,” she says. “Now, once I met someone that described some of his challenges to me, and how he managed them. The way you described what you go through has a lot of parallels with what he was dealing with at that time in his life.”

“What did he say?” you ask, curious.

Cassandra wastes no time in explaining, which leads naturally into a discussion about what he did to combat his anxieties. For the next couple hours, Cassandra teaches you the general principles of meditation, and its application in relaxation and managing anger. (-10 Stress: 36/100)

It like that with the entire family. Remember when we were freaking out at Harvey and smashing a hole in the wall next to his head cause we had cornered him?

And his response was to be cool and understanding and to totally see things from our point of view?

I think the only reason we like Rowan so much and don't get creeped out by her is because she reacted to us with open hostility. Sierra can comprehend hostility.
>>

You let out a slow breath. You’re sitting cross-legged on your bed, with your hands supporting your head, and your eyes carefully closed. It’s hard to enter a realm of utter calm and remain awake at through the journey, and you’re pretty sure you’re botching the whole deal worse and worse by the minute. You keep wondering what time it is, which is what you’re not supposed to do.

Eventually you give up and fall over onto your bed. Reeber raises his head off the floor and looks at you when you do so. You check the clock. Fifteen minutes. It felt like an hour. But the angry black cloud inside of you feels a little less ferocious than it did before. (-5 Stress: 31/100)

Seriously though, ask Rowan is she wants to take Reeber for a walker with us.
>>
You’re going to go outside. Outside is good. “Outside is the answer,” you tell Reeber. The hellhound pops up immediately, ready to go. But before you head out, you canvass Rowan and Harvey and see if they want to accompany you.

Harvey seems content enough to abandon his homework and come along, though he doesn’t make any sudden movements as you exit his room. Rowan, though, thinks she has a better idea. “We could go on a bike ride,” she says, as you and her go downstairs. “Or. You could ride a bike, I could skate. Sierra does have a pattern on things she's been missing out on.

>>
You wait until you reach the bottom of the stairs before you round on Rowan. “Okay, what part of take the dog for a walk didn’t you get?” you say, confronting her. “I know you haven’t owned a dog before, but you don’t take dogs on bike rides. They can’t even reach the pedals. That’s why it’s a walk. You both walk.”

“I took Reeber out with me a couple days ago,” says Rowan, unsure of where your hostility to the idea is coming from. “He seemed happy as a clam to run along with me when I was blading. That’s like, the point. Dogs don’t need to be on a bike, they like running.”

Reeber comes down the stairs a second later and looks up at you with a wide doggy grin. Dammit, why is he doing this to you? He’s supposed to be on your side. “Well bikes are lame,” you aruge. “I mean, do you know what people look like on bikes? They look stupid, that’s what they look like. I’d look stupid on a bike – not that you’d care, you’re in rollerblades.”

“Fine,” says Rowan, “we can walk, geeze.”

Her sudden agreement makes you realize something. Your arguments for not riding bikes, you realize, are all stupid. You were wrong, but you can fix this. “No, Ro,” you decide. “We’re not fucking walking anywhere. ”Your heel-face turn baffles Rowan as you continue. “I’ll ride your bike, but there’s something you’ll have to do for me before that happens.”

“And what, exactly, is this this thing that I have to do for you?” she asks, rolling her eyes.
>>
>>32541861
E.m.o.
>>
>>32541899
You fix your eyes somewhere between Rowan’s face and the floor. “You’ll uh… have to show me how to ride it.”

--

You kind of regret your forwardness as you hurdle down the road, frozen in place on the bike as Harvey runs you off to a start and Rowan glides alongside you. “It’s easy once you get going,” they kept telling you. You are not quite sure about that anymore. (+4 Stress: 35/100)

“Sierra, use the pedals!” Rowan yells at you.

Reeber barks encouragingly at you from the other side, running along in long, easy strides.

Oh. Right.

>I changed my mind! Stop everything!

Flies headfirst into the windshield of a semi-truck carrying fuel. Semi-truck swerves into a truck and explodes
>>
“Which way do they go again?” you ask, momentarily stunned by your breakneck speed. Really, your neck would break if you fell off right now. You understand the phrase all too well, now.

“Just move your feet!” Ro shouts.

You jerk your feet into motion, though you can’t be sure if it’s doing anything. “Oh crap, Harvey, slow down,” you say. You glance back. Harvey’s jogging to a stop behind you, and he grows more distant. You’re all on your own now. You were not prepared for this. “What the hell is this? Everything was a lie!” you yell. (+3 Stress: 38/100)

A parked car approaches you with swift, murderous intent. “Goodness Sierra, just do anything!” Rowan says. But you’re already doing anything, you reason with yourself.

Before you know what’s happening, she’s skirted in front of you, grabbed your bike’s handlebars, and diverts them to the side. Instead of crashing into the back of a Toyota, you instead glide off into the road, where thankfully no cars are approaching. You try switching the direction of your pedaling, and feel some resistance, as well as an increase of speed and control. You straighten out of your turn, and then loop around the other way in a long, graceful arc, and start riding back toward Harvey, while Rowan curves around to pursue.
>>
>>32542329

You start laughing as you go. This isn’t hard or terrifying at all. In fact, it’s pretty awesome. You’re riding a bike. You deserve like, a plaque or something. “Fucking bikes, man,” you shout as you zoom by Harvey. (-15 Stress: 23/100)

Maybe forty minutes later, the three of you sit on a park bench, with Rowan in the middle, and your and Harv’s bikes stashed off to the side. Reeber lies out before you, panting, and the sun hangs low in the horizon. Against all odds, you have had a swell time. (-13 Stress: 10/100)

“I spy with my little eye,” says Rowan, “something… red.”

“That guy with the scarf,” Harvey answers.

“And that’s why we don’t play I-Spy anymore,” Rowan tells you.

>I take it little brothers are the worst.

This Rowan chick... she's alright.
>>
“Well that’s fine, ‘cause it’s a crappy game anyway,” you say.

Harvey snickers at your comment.

“Don’t think I forgot your role in all this,” you say, eyeing Rowan’s younger brother. “Seriously, you just left me to that Prius. It was out for blood – and if it wasn’t for Ro, it would have got it.”

“Everything turned out for the best,” Harvey says.

“No it didn’t, because the car got off scott free,” you say. “When we go back there, I’m moving that fucking thing down the block.” You could probably manage it if you got a coat hanger first. Or if the owner left the doors unlocked. Hmm. Or maybe you shouldn’t break into somebody’s car right now. “Or something else, maybe, not that,” you amend.

“We could put red food coloring in the wiper fluid,” suggests Harvey.

Rowan shakes her head. “The doors would need to be open for that. I say you get a piece of paper, write, ‘Sorry I hit your car,’ and stick it on the windshield.”

“But I didn’t hit the car,” you remind her. “That’s like, what you stopped from happening.”

“No, get it,” says Rowan, trying to explain, “they’ll think there’s a dent or something, and they won’t be able to figure out what it is. It’ll bother them for days.”

Harvey seems unconvinced. He’s probably still up on the red wiper fluid thing.

“Sounds like work,” you say, considering the options. “Maybe I’ll let it slide, just this once.”

Rowan can’t disagree fast enough. “Oh come on,” she says. “Where’s your sense of adventure?”

So...

Sometime in the next few weeks in-game, I think Sierra should (in her usual bashful/hostile style) propose to the Hallows (or more likely just Cassandra) that they make her being a foster kid official (y-you know, so you guys don't get in trouble or something for kidnapping a minor...).

It'd be a really sweet moment.
>>
>>32545788
I don't think Sierra's gotten to the point where she considers them her mother or father.
>>
>>32546397
But has she gotten to the point where she sees them as her new long-term foster family? That's the real question here. She's not asking for an adoption, just for this being her permanent place of residence being made official.
>>
>>32546577
It's unnecessary imo. Besides, one of her character traits in independence. I doubt she'd want to be legally tied down to any family.
>>
>>32546652
Unnecessary? For sure. The question is just whether she's gotten attached enough to the Hallows to, sometime in the next few in-game weeks, bashfully suggest they make her an official foster kid - suggesting, of course, that it's just for their own convenience, so they don't get in any trouble for kidnapping her or some shit.

As sentimental as it is blusteringly evasive. Seems to fit Sierra to me. The questions more whether she likes the Hallows enough yet.
