Welcome to Banished Quest!
You take the role of a young mage labeled a criminal by his people and cast out into the wider world. In the last thread you chatted with a strange partially metallic man and learned the manipulate effect.

You stand up, stretching some of the stiffness out of your joints. You note that your host has his helmet flipped down, and that one of the various lenses attached to its surface has slid out to focus on the paper. It's eery. “When were you hoping to set off for the Conclave?” He shrugs his shoulders, turning the page on his book. “A few hours ago, but it isn't a big deal. It's not too late in the morning yet.”

You nod and wander over to the pot of stew, deciding to flex some of your new power. You drag one of the bowls into your hands using the Manipulate spell and use just a touch of water magic to clean out any dregs left from the night before. Than you scoop the soup from the pot once more using your new spell and heat it with a quick blast of fire magic. You hold up the piping hot bowl of stew in the general direction of your host, who has set down his book to watch, but he waves a hand dismissively. “I already ate.”

While you set about preparing bowls for the rest of your party, your host ask you a question. “I didn't ask last night, but what is up with the egg? It's huge.” You glance over to the egg where it currently sits in a bed of hot ashes, flames occasionally licking across its surface. “It's a dragon egg. Stole it from a nest right before a stumbled through the portal that brought me here. Good thing too, its brothers and sisters were chasing me.” There is a long pause. You're delighted to find out that you can hold more than one thing in the air at a time, you're currently keeping three bowls in the air while you eat from a fourth. Finally your host speaks again. “Dragons? As in the big, flying, fire breathing monsters?” You nod your head. “Oh yeah, surprised me too. They've been in hiding for thousands upon thousands of years where I am from.”

He sits up, flipping the helmet visor out of his face. “God damn, wish I could've lived in a fantasy world instead of this shithole. Cast magic spells, get into dramatic duels over a woman's honor, fly around in a giant airship.” You shrug your shoulders, going to shake Chrys awake. “If it's any consolation, I have never seen an airship nor have I dueled for a woman's honor. I have been in a duel though. Several in fact. Speaking of magic though, could you tell me a little more about that forest to the east?” Chrys wakes with a start when you shake her by the shoulder and you levitate a bowl in front of her. She takes it warily, but doesn't say anything.

Your host looks at you oddly for a moment before shrugging. “Sure, I guess. The forest was where the heaviest fighting during the Mutagenic War took place. At least, as far as I know. It was bombed to twist the animals living there into horrible abominations that would then attack the soldiers and citizens of the City. That's why the wall was erected. It used to be a national park, or something. These days people who aren't suicidal avoid it like the plague.” Huh, less information than you were hoping for. “Well, the ambient vys in this region seems to flow towards the forest. I'm curious as to why.” A few moments of silence passes before he speaks again. “So is that some magic shit or am I just an idiot?” You laugh, and wave it off. “It's related to magic, don't worry about it.”

You take a seat in an unoccupied chair while waiting for Profectus and Darzi to finish meditating. The flames surrounding the egg suddenly cut out and you see Profectus' eyes snap open. Darzi awakens much more slowly, dragged rather than thrust out of the meditative trance. Profectus is the first to speak. “Man, my arm! I feel great! I mean, compared to how I felt before. It doesn't hurt nearly as much.” He rolls his shoulder, somewhat awkwardly due to the relative immobility of his tone arm. Darzi merely stretches while Profectus rants on, beginning to speak in Samjan once Profectus is finished. “It was curious, but I could feel a real connection to the life inside the egg. It was almost like it was trying to communicate with me, or maybe help me along.” She takes the bowl hovering in front of her face and begins to eat, as does Profectus.

Effect Runes:
Fire: Wreathes the enchanted object in flame to enhance the damage the object deals, or makes the object fire retardant to protect the user.

Target Runes:
Self: The enchantment will effect the user of the object.
Strike: The enchantment will effect any person or object the weapon strikes. Cannot be used on armor.

Trigger Runes:
Active: The enchantment will only be active when the wielder wishes it to be active.
Passive: The enchantment will be active at all times, or will activate only under certain conditions. The user of the enchanted object has no say in whether or not the enchantment becomes active.

I bet you the portal leads out into this place.
Elaudia-
Elaudia is a region to the east of your homeland populated by vast jungles and strange beast. Your people tell legends of the distant past when Elaudia was all controlled by one vast empire of immeasurable power and wealth, growing fat on trade with the Rhynians, but a century after the Rhynians themselves collapsed the Elaudian Empire vanished. One moment it was there, the next traders were stumbling upon abandoned cities. There were no signs of disease or violence, and for almost a thousand years the jungles have stood empty of all but savages and beast.
Nobody knows just how large Elaudia is. Travelers and Aghtaki frequently brave its depths either in search of treasures or to escape the law. However, nobody who's ventured more than a week's distance into the jungles has ever returned. Some say the Elaudians may still survive on the opposite end of the jungle.
Recently, your people have been reclaiming Elaudia. Clearing forest and constructing outpost, forts, and villages. They've found it incredible slow going but persist in their attempts.

While you eat, you gesture to the long pistol with the strange handle. It is made of a black metal of some sort and has a strange opening in the side. There is a trigger much like yours, but no hammer to pull back or fuse to light. Nor do you see a ramrod for packing the cartridge into the barrel. “Where did you get your gun?” He shrugs his shoulders. “Bought it in a supermarket. Years ago. It's just a dinky little shotgun but it has served me well over the years. Load it with slugs and those things will put a hole straight through a tree at fifty yards. If you wanted one you could probably find a gun in the Conclave. They have plenty, last I checked.”

Half of that went straight over your head but it sounded fancy and you want one. You make light conversation with your host and your party and then once you've finished eating you lean back and wait for everyone else. Once they're done you clap your hands together excitedly. “Alright! Lets get going.” You stand up, your party lethargically following suit. You address your host while you wait. “You said it was quite a long walk, correct?” He nods. “A few days, at least.” Damn, well maybe time spent here doesn't directly translate to the amount of time that has passed back home. You don't really have any way to tell.
(1/2)
>>
Your host flips his helmet visor down and grabs his 'shotgun', as well as a backpack and a canteen. Thus geared, he sets off at the head of your party. You follow behind him, with your companions falling in behind you. You're surprised to be greeted by a blast of frigid morning air. You suppose you're used to living a homeland where even in the dead of winter it's still hot at best and scorching at worst, though it does get fairly cold at night. You briefly panic when you realize you've forgotten the egg but turning around to retrieve it you're relieved to see Chrys was more mindful of it than you were. She's carrying it without a hint of difficulty despite the fact it must way well over a hundred pounds.

You walk for a short while before coming to a long, winding path. It vanishes into the distance, though you can pick out shattered bluffs and rock formations in the seemingly eternal haze that covers this land. Very little seems to grow here, though you must admit that the stark contrast between borderline desert and fog-filled, skeletal forest is interesting. Scraggly trees seem to cling to life along the path you walk on, and you'll see the occasional brush or patch of grass. Other than that though this land seems devoid of life.

Up ahead though you think you might have spotted something moving. It was large, and vaguely humanoid, though it walked on four legs. Maybe an animal of some sort? Your host didn't seem to notice it.

You reach into your cloak, withdrawing your nature staff. You briefly use it to tap your host on the shoulder and indicate the creature in the distance. He glances over his shoulder, and jumps slightly when he notices you've produced a staff from seemingly nowhere. “What is that?” You ask, pointing the dragon head in its direction. It takes only a touch of channeled vys for green light to spill out of the dragon's eyes and illuminate the woods where you noticed the creature lurking. You see it light up green, along with four or five other large lumps of glowing green you assume to be the same creatures. Oddly enough, the trees they inhabit only glow dimly.

You slip the staff into your cloak while at the same time activating your magic sight. You see the creature light up, glowing a dim, corrupted yellow. It doesn't have much vys, but what vys it does have is obviously toxic. Why corruption doesn't seem to rapidly spread and multiply in this world like it does in your world, you're not sure. Its fellows are similarly corrupted, each one of them a glowing spot of yellow in your sight, though one seems brighter than the others. Probably the leader or most powerful.

Your thoughts are interrupted by the voice of your host. “By the Magi and the Deabru, what the flying fuck is wrong with your cloak?!” He's doing his best to keep his voice down, but he's obviously a little panicked. Even the artificial tone his voice adopts whenever his helmet is lowered doesn't hide that. You quirk an eyebrow and spread your cloak wide, reaching a hand into the strange space inside of it and wave it around freely. “Nothing's wrong with it. It's where I keep my stuff.”

You're not sure why this is so shocking, when you've cast magic spells and levitated objects in front of him this very day. Maybe he just didn't realize enchantment was a possible result of magic. You know it shocked you when you first gained knowledge of enchantment. He whips his head around to look at the creatures and then sighs deeply. “Alright, look. We can discuss the impossibility of that thing on your back later. Right now we need to avoid those woods. Apes are bad news.”

He peers around briefly, and then points to a gorge off to the side of the path opposite the woods. “There, just watch out for spiders. Bastards can get big out here in the badlands. Lizards too, though they might actually be useful. If you feed one they'll usually become pretty docile, sometimes you can even ride them if you treat them nicely.”

>Nah, you want to get closer and see what these apes are like, maybe fight one. Plus, fuck spiders.

You nod your head. “That's probably wise. There are five of those creatures gathered out of sight in addition to the one we can see. Not to mention they're all horribly corrupted.” He glances at you before striking off towards the gorge. “Is that what you call irradiated?” You shrug your shoulders. “Possibly? I would need a better idea of what it means to be 'irradiated' before I could say with certainty.”

Conversation peters out after that. It doesn't take long for you to reach the gorge and it's only a fairly short drop from the top, to a ledge roughly halfway down, and then to the bottom. Of course it would be more difficult to make the climb back up, but that isn't yet your concern. What's important is getting past this forest without being mauled to death.

The canyon is... odd, to say the least. The river flowing through it is a thick, bright blue. It's not clear, rather it's incredibly murky and oddly thick. It doesn't quite seem like water at all, and you certainly wouldn't think of drinking it. The stones are all discolored and half of them are covered in some sort of blue fungus. Up ahead you think you see some sort of structure built into the rocks, though you can't be certain what its purpose is. It appears too small to house a person.

(1/2)

Your host leads you through the gorge for several minutes before grinding to an abrupt halt. He ask in a quiet tone. “Did you hear that?” You shake your head, though Chryssa speaks up. “The hissing noise?” He nods his head. You didn't hear any hissing noise, or anything vaguely resembling it. Only the anemic burbling of the stream and the distant crowing of birds. Your host points ahead to a large cave entrance in the wall of the gorge. “I think it came from up there, might be a nest of lizards. Could be worth checking out if you five have any food.” You speak up. “I've got a lot actually. Several crates full of rations.” He looks at you as if you're insane. “Where?” You simply gesture dramatically to your cloak.

He sighs, reaching up to rub his eyes but seemingly realizing halfway that he has none. “Fine, alright. That's good actually. I'll leave it up to you five whether or not we give it a shot, just keep in mind these things are dangerous. They've got fangs the size of your finger and some nasty venom. If you don't have enough food to feed them they can get violent.” Profectus pipes up. “I would rather just walk, y'know, not risk our lives pointlessly for once.” Darzi agrees with him, though you doubt she realizes it. “I do not wish to toy with the local wildlife.” Chryssa speaks up in support of screwing with the lizards. “If it saves us time, it is worth the effort and loss in rations.” Fulvia seems uninterested in the little vote being held. “I will do as Mikhael orders.”

You glance at your party and then a grin splits your face. Profectus groans, while Darzi just sighs. “Oh come on, Profectus! Darzi, I can excuse, but you've been with me for a while now. I would expect you to understand the true meaning of adventure! Besides, I can heal poison now. We'll be perfectly safe!” He waves a hand dismissively. “Yeah, yeah. I didn't really expect anything else but I was holding out hope you'd be a little more cautious.” You laugh and turn your attention back to your host, you really need to ask this guy's name. “Lets check out the cave.”

He nods, and leads you towards the entrance. The hissing becomes more obvious as you approach, to the point that it seems almost cacophonous when you're right outside the cave. There must be a lot of them in there. You whisper to your host when you're at the entrance. “So what's the procedure? What do we do?” He shrugs his shoulders. “Well, just go in there and lay out a crate of food. Bust it open and let them feast. If they eat through it, bust open another one and let them at it. Once they're full they'll usually wander outside into the sun to warm themselves, that's when you approach them. You'll want to climb on their backs and if they get up and start moving you know you've picked a good one. If they just lay there, find another.”

Wow, these things sound incredibly lazy once they've been fed. With that in mind you wander into the cave while digging through your cloak for a crate of food. Luckily Ricky reacts to your search by pushing one through the opening of your cloak. You catch it, and with some difficulty (and Darzi's help) you haul the crate inside. Once you set it down you notice that the hissing has ceased, and looking around you see dozens of beady white eyes staring at you, tongues flicking out to taste the air. These things are real unnerving, and real large.

“Crack the crate open, lets back away slowly.” Darzi nods, and digs her fingers into the wood. With little effort she rips the top off of the crate and spills it onto the floor. You would've thought that you just pushed a bleeding man into shark-infested waters. They swarm the crate, fighting to get every little morsel available. Unfortunately you and Darzi get caught up in the swarm, and it's a real struggle to separate yourself from the pack. At least they're not biting you.

Then out of nowhere the creatures scatter to the far corners of the room. You nearly fall over now that you don't have a press of bodies to fight against. As you stare at the giant lizards confused you feel a finger tap you on the shoulder, and glancing around you see a creature large enough to put dragons to shame. It must be twenty feet tall and much, much longer. Its massive tongue flicks out to taste the air and slowly, laboriously, it begins to stomp its way towards you...

We can tame it right? Feed it the heart
>>
>>32603067
I have a strange urge to belly dance on that things head while we ride it towards the conclave
>>
>>32603067

Calling shotgun on that sweet, sweet ride
>>
>>32603106
>mik do not do the bellydance
>it's too late prof
>it was always too late.
>damn it
>>
>>32603133
I kinda wanted prof to dance with us, a brown and a white elf belly dancing on top of a fuck huge lizard would be a sight to see

Oh shit. Can we become a tamer? We have water which I think would help with creatures, it would let us heal and sooth them at the least. When we get a bit efficient in metal we can touch to their mind to make them more docile. Traditional methods always help too.

We encounter all sorts of creatures going around in adventures. We would tame, or maybe befriend if they are somewhat intelligent, them after soothing and making them docile with magic.
>>
>>32605587
Controlling beasts is just Manipulate Vys and maybe some nature thrown in for good measure.
>>
>>32605587
Taming is nature.
>>
>>32603082
we should have tried to leech the heart. Assuming it's still connected to papa dragon than it could be and incredible source of vys
>>
>>32612078
we talking about the heart in the desk right. I thought we sorta overloaded it with vys and kinda blew it up, or did we find another one that im not aware off?
>>
>>32612747
Did we? I don't remember blowing it up
>>
>>32612747
You clearly don't know what you're talking about.
>>
>>32612791
Thats your opinion, and your opinion is wrong
>>
>>32612824
Except I am you from the future therefore you must be wrong.
>>
>>32612857
Yeah if your from the future then its all your fault, nice job asshole
>>
>>32612879
It's my fault because it's your fault for being a faggot.
>>
>>32612908
Yeah but because you told me how much of a faggot you were I can keep myself from being a faggot, making you the one true faggot
>>
>>32612931
You are still currently the bigger faggot.
>>
>>32612931
>one fag to blow them all
>>
>>32612955
AH THIS IS UNTRUE, BECAUSE YOU AND I ARE ONE AND THE SAME WITH YOU FROM THE FUTURE, YOU ARE UNDENIABLY THE LARGER FAGGOT
>>
>>32612988
Except I am the changed man you're not.

Also we've only used the heart once and it didn't blow up.
>>
>>32613035
Ah but if you are a changed man then you have admitted your faults, making you a pussy ass bitch and a fagtron 5000, check
>>
>>32613053
To not admit your faults is faggotry of the high degree
>>
>>32613083
shut the fuck up anon, no one cares about you
>>
>>32613093
It was me DIO! And everyone that matters cares about me.
>>
>>32613053
>>32613093
honestly didnt expect my second and third personality to come into play.

>>32613214
assuming you were the other me's. nice conversation. interesting reading myself arguing with my self.

>>32612758
I remember that we poored vys into it. And we did something that caused us to piss off some plant thing. since i don't remember us putting it away i figured it was destroyed.
>>
>>32615331
>since i don't remember us putting it away i figured it was destroyed.
We actually did put it away. Also your writing is atrocious.
>>
>>32615638
Sorry for the writing. I am running on no caffeine after being up for seventeen hours or so.
>>
>>32615836
If you were really sorry, you'd stop posting.
>>
Should we try to make an airship?
>>
>>32617664
We could tie balloons to our fuck huge lizard
>>
>>32617712
We still have to tame it somehow. But wouldn't that just freak the lizard out if we did that anyway?
>>
>>32617664
No, you faggot.
>>
>>32618082
Lizard ain't gonna bitch when its flying through the sky with Mik and Prof belly dancing on his head
>>
>>32618082
That depends on how mellow it gets after dinner.

Or we could just mind control it.
>>
>>32618115
That would be a sight to see.
>>
>>32618138
We can't.
>>
>>32618172
Why not, we have manipulate.
>>
Can Mechanical Guy come along back home?

He's expressed interest.
>>
>>32618193
We need nature for that.
>>
>>32618238
Ever since the magic pastebin was created the example combination was how to control an animal using Manipulate Vys and Range if needed. You would know this if you actually took the time to read the pastebins instead of taking other anons' word for it.
>>
>>32618278
Manipulate Vys is not mind control.
>>
>>32618331
Jesus man, just read the pastebin.

>So, for instance, if someone wanted to control an animal they would want to cast Manipulate, with the Vys metamagic effect, and probably the Ranged metamagic effect too. For a total cost of 4 Vys. The control would last as long as they focused, draining 1 vys per round.
>>
>>32618356
How would mechbro react when we force big fuck lizard to kneel at our feet with magic?
>>
>>32618356
Manipulate Vys allows you to control a person's body not mind. Also we don't have the Vys metamagic.
>>
We really need to count the gold thats in those crates and chests and the likes
>>
Wow. This is actually still up? I'm amazed we haven't let it die yet!
>>
>>32618215
Maybe, we should ask him if he want's to come with.
>>
>>32620267
already planned on it, especially if he knows how to make ais
>>
>>32622074
AI here are nothing like Fulvia.
>>
>>32622935
It still worth learning about their AI so that we might gain some insight on the Fulvia breed of AI
>>
>>32622960
Fulvia's core is capable of warping reality. An AI made of code doesn't even compare to that. It is also worth remembering that only one person was able to make AIs.
>>
>>32623063
Yes, but its possible we can find some correlation between the code and the make up of whatever the shit is that makes fulvias core, like maybe the fucker that made them was coding in vys, who the fuck knows man, its magic and shit
>>
>>32623097
They were able to make magic computers so it can't be same as code that makes a computer.
>>
>>32623148
Actually I think creating an AI would require us to know all the runes as well as be a grandmaster in enchanting.
>>
>>32623148
Well how do you think he made ai cores?
>>
>>32623209
The world was made using runes. There is a world inside Fulvia's core. Do the math.
>>
>>32623243
>implying that world actually exists
>implying it isn't a mental perception
>>
>>32623265
We've been physically sucked into it before.
>>
What I don't understand is why we haven't given Profectus that set of Centurion Armor yet. We said we were going to then just slipped it in our cloak and forgot about it.

Also, I was thinking we really should practice our enchanting by placing leach and paralyze on our spear. ... Just for practice mind you.. >.>
>>
>>32623862
>tfw I cant properly quote that retarded face and ridicule you for it
life is suffering
