In the dingy light, Louie hops about on the spot, psyching himself up for the fight, the blood-soaked sand of the fighting pit wrapping around his toes with each impact while bets are taken all around. Cheers and jeers drown out almost all other noise in the fighting pits. The giant slab of meat and muscle, apparently named the "Mountain", simply stands in place with his hand clasped before him. His disinterested stare passes over the crowd.

Despite your fears over Louie's continued good health in this situation, Tear seems to have other priorities. She whispers in your ear, "Louie is not favored to win here. The odds are eight to one against him. Even were I not wholeheartedly opposed to the prospect of gambling, I thoroughly discourage any notion you have of betting on him. It would not end well for us."

Prime's eyebrow perks up at her comment, though you didn't think she was close enough to hear. "So we bet on the Mountain, then? He's on one and an eighth to one. An eighth profit is still profit." Tear's glare silences her with a grumble. You idly finger your coin purse, full to bursting with half a million pix in petty cash.

Corrected middle paragraph should be:
>Despite your fears over Louie's continued good health in this situation, Charme seems to have other priorities. She whispers in your ear, "Louie's not favored here. Bookie's giving eight to one against him right now. Even if I was the type to gamble, I really don't suggest we bet anything on him. I can't see any well this is gonna end well."

And it looks like we're refraining from betting. Giving it a few more minutes for people to arrive, then writing.
>>
>>32708892
"No," you tell them both. "I'm not going to bet against my friend. And I'm not betting for him when we don't know if he'll win either."

Charme gives you a funny look. "You trusted him with your life in the dungeons, but you don't trust him with you money in the pits?"

You pout in response. "That's not true. I trusted the magical field with my life. I trusted Louie with not messing up my profits." This elicits a chuckle from the lady thief.

"You're a lot more ruthless than you seem, Recette. I like that." You turn away from her, not sure how to take the comment. Instead you focus on the fighters as they gear up. At last, the bets are all in and the signal is given. Immediately, Louie leaps into action, closing the distance and throwing a sharp jab into the Mountain's gut. The man hasn't even managed to bring his arms to the ready yet, but it seems he doesn't need to. Louie's jab is completely ineffectual, and in turn the Mountain swings a meaty arm in a not-so-clumsy blow that looks like it could've decapitated Louie if he hadn't dodged back at the last moment.

Taking two steps forward, the man swings again. Both fast and precise, this man is no hulking behemoth. He's a fighter through and through. The second and third blows barely miss Louie, but the third connects low with Louie's chest and sends him flying into the wooden wall to leave him sprawled on the sand. With a choked cough, he heaves himself back to his feet.
It looked painful but he seems alright.

Another flurry of blows, and Louie is once more sent flying across the ring by the Mountain. Alouette gasps, a look of horror on her face. Apparently this isn't what she was expecting.

Looking closely, you notice Louie's posture is the same as if he were sword fighting. His body offset so he can bring his shield up to guard himself. That's not very helpful to him in this situation, since he doesn't have one and his only real bet is to dodge. You decide to shout advice to him.
"Wear a helmet Louie!"

Your voice cuts through the noise of the crowd, catching his attention. He looks up to find the source of the voice. While distracted, the Mountain lands a solid blow to the side of his temple. As Louie eats dirt once more, you should your encouragement again. "See? Wouldn't have hurt if you were wearing a helmet!"

Louie pushes himself back up, a fire in his eyes now that wasn't there before. "Really, Recette? It's gonna be like that?" He casually ducks under another blow from the Mountain, returns it with a kick to the shin, then rolls around him to shout at you. "I knew you'd hate me, but I didn't think you'd be this petty!"

You take a step back, surprised by his sudden fury. Charme casually waves a hand at him. "Behind you." He steps aside at the last second as the Mountain crashes into the wooden wall. It creaks under his weight, but stays up.

>?
>>
>>32709313
Umm what? Well, if you wanted serious advice, you should know that swordfighting stances don't work for fist fights.
>>
>>32709313
>>32709328
Also, don't die, you still have to return my stuff back to me.
>>
>>32709313

Don't be ridiculous Louie, I'm just being my normal helpful self!

You know, like when I saved you when you were starving to death on the streets. Or when I gave food, lodging, and all that nice, expensive equipment.
>>
>>32709356
We don't have time for a monologue.
>>
>>32709313
Well, I guess that works too. So we antagonize him further to get him really riled. Like uh, hit him with your head since there's nothing important there anyway? I don't know, I'm not good at insults.
>>
>>32709313
You recover your wits quickly, and hurl your response back. "I'm just being my normal helpful self! You know, like that time I saved you from starving to death on the streets? Or that other time when I fed you, clothed you, put a roof over your head! Also, sword fighting stances don't work in fist fights!"

The Mountain growls, pushing himself up off the wall, and turns to face Louie again. He doesn't finish turning before Louie's feet meet his face in a full dropkick. The Mountain hits the dirt hard while Louie barely keeps his feet, stumbling away a little before returning his attack against you. "Yeah, I remember perfectly well! You slaving me out over the pretense that a loaf of bread was worth a day's labor! That keeping me like a pet meant you had every right to send me to my death for your own gain!" He smashes his fist into the Mountain before he can stand up again, but the Mountain manages to flail a leg to bring Louie to the ground.

The suit waves his arms, shouting a signal to break. As per what little rules exist in this game, both fighters break contact, stand up and reset their positions. You can't help but notice the volume of the crowd as dropped somewhat since your little shouting match began, but that hasn't dissuaded Louie.
"And then Alouette, without even a second thought for her own gain, offers me bed, board, a real wage AND gets me a real licence. Unlike some other unmentionables." Alouette shifts uncomfortably at the mention of her name, though also seems riveted to the argument between the two of you.

As the two dive into another hail of blows again, Charme whispers something in your ear that you instantly echo in your angry tone. "Move your feet more, you're not a statue! Gah, I really should've bet against you." Louie roars in anger, taking a quick step back to avoid a blow that would otherwise have connected with his guarding arm like it did the last four blows. As the Mountain overextends through the sudden lack of resistance, Louie lands a swift uppercut to his jaw which sends the man reeling.
"It's good to know saving someone's life isn't even worth a day of work! Why are you even HERE if you don't want to risk your life?"

He snarls back at you, "I'm here of my own free will. Did you know that's something that human beings have!? Alouette has never once had me to do something without asking me nicely first."
The Mountain lunges forwards for a grapple hold, but Louie reacts first. A kick square into his belly slows that man's advance, lightly winds him and gives Louie even more breathing room.

"You never said you didn't like it! And you didn't even have the guts to tell me you were quitting!"

"I told you constantly that I didn't like it! Did you just tone that out because you didn't want to hear it? And no, I didn't tell you I was quitting. You would've made up some lame excuse about thinking about making it better, coerced me into continuing working and nothing would've changed."

>>
>>32709713
I think he'll win anyway as it is, and I'm not against him getting an extra bruise or two on the way.

And yeah, I don't see any reason to try and trick him into feeling extra sorry or anything, better to just act the part and let him consider Recette's unfortunate circumstances on his own. Besides, he'd probably see through manipulation at the moment, between the emotionally charged argument already predisposing him that way, and the whole fight driving his adrenaline up and not exactly fostering introspection or sympathy.
>>
>>32709693
>>32709713

But why do we want Louis to win?

We may not bet against him, but he's been an asshole to us.

>>
>>32709755
She kinda ruined it herself by letting Louie fight (or maybe it was even her idea). I'm fine with either continued reasonable argument, or silence/leave, making a scene with Alouette (good intentions or no) or trying to manipulate him are both dumb.

Louie goes in for a counter attack, rapid punches to the Mountain's belly doing effectively nothing but put the man on the defensive. "Oh, so you would prefer someone to wait on you hand and foot? Maybe that's why you're punches don't do anything!"

"NO," he shouts back. "I just wanted what any person would call FAIR! A free man should not work like a slave!"

"You say free, and yet you're too scared of being coerced by a little girl to talk to her about it?" Pressing his own attack, Louie steps on and lets loose a right hook that bounces clean off the Mountain's face. "Put more power in it! Jeez, you're punching a man, not stroking a kitten!" A tone of exasperation enters your voice without your intent. "You couldn't even face me after getting your stupid licence?"

Louie's response is still just as harsh. "Scared of a little girl? Damn right I am. Can you really call yourself that anymore? You're more monster than girl. I'm surprised you haven't tried to have me killed yet. We both know you would've done it on the spot if I told you I was leaving."

With one almighty crack, Louie leaps into the air, both feet off the ground, and puts all power behind one last blow. He meets the Mountain head-on, smashing through the man's guard and connecting with his nose. The man falls with a thud, throwing up a cloud of sand and dust. The room goes silent in the aftermath, with Louie staring you down.
The Mountain does not move, blood tricking from his clearly broken nose.

"That's not- I," you stumble a response. Louie turns away without another word, stalking back through the gate towards Alouette. He brushes past both her and the suit trying to offer him his winnings.

Charme interjects before she can get a real objection going. "Aw come on. There's a really good play going right now. It's apparently got all sorts of dirty jokes, and a few of the actors get naked to act out a sex scene!" This seems to peak Prime's interest, though not yours.

"Aah, I was kind of thinking maybe not like that? They've got a tonne of romance plays on, right? I love romance stories!"

The back-and-forth argument about what sort of play to watch goes on all the way to the theater, large enough to sport four separate stages inside! Finally, you're stood before the huge wooden building. There's not much of a queue for any of the plays, and they all start in about a quarter of an hour.

>Watch the Romance story about a young swordsman and his rich, sheltered lover? A mostly predictable story based on the classics. Can't go wrong.
>Watch the Tragedy about a young merchant girl so focused on money she misses out on love? A guaranteed tear-jerker with a lot of good reviews.
>Watch the Comedy, an adult-only play featuring a handful of girls getting their rocks off wherever and whenever they can? Full of lewd jokes and full nudity.

>Pay for three seats?
>Sneak Prime in and pay for two?

It's, uhh, for research, yeah. For you know, talking to Allouete.

>Sneak Prime in
But be ready to pay
>>
>>32710362
>Sneak Prime in and pay for two?
I don't even care about anything else. It's Charme time.
>>
>>32710362
None of those. I reject your reality and replace it with my own.

>FOURTH! THE MYSTERY PLAY!
>pay for three

>Sneak Prime in and pay for two?
>>
>>32710405
you know a key part of replace is that YOU HAVE YOUR OWN REALITY

but for the sake of write-ins:
>A tale of a girl looking for her long-lost sister, a boy working to save his family, and a father who just wants his children home and safe.
>>
>>32710362
>Sneak Prime in and pay for two
Either of the latter two are fine. Not keen on the romance film.

Supported!

>Sneak Prime in and pay for two?
Stick her in your inside pocket.

since my suggestion is actually being supported:

this is me, but I changed my mind and made >>32710425 instead.

You guys really want to get the fairy and Charme bored?

ASSUMING DIRECT CONTROL!

Kaleun says:
>The mods feel off-topic "feminism" trolling is not shitposting, and decided to ban me for reporting it.
Since none of you can agree on which of the three plays to watch, you decide to simply pay for two tickets to see the fourth play: a tale of a girl looking for her long-lost sister, a boy working to save his family, and a father who just wants his children home and safe.

"Wait," Prime stops you, "you only got two tickets? There's three of u-"
You grab her out of the air and stuff her into your inside pockets. After stifling her complaints, you walk through the doors to the fourth audience area and let her out again. Turns out this play is extremely unpopular, and you have the entire row to yourself. Lucky! Prime sits to your left, Charme to your right while you get center of the isle two rows back from the stage.

Despite your initial skepticism, it's actually a pretty good play. A young girl runs away from her parents in order to track down her sister, long lost to a deadly realm. Meanwhile, a young boy is also fighting his way through this realm in an attempt to piece together what's left of his scattered family. The girl's father spends the entire play trying to track the two down and bring them safely home.

You try not to let yourself get too attached, but their plight is riveting. Especially when it seems like the boy and girl are falling in love, thanks to the boy's dedicated efforts to keep the girl safe without accepting any thanks or sticking around long enough for the girl to repay the favor.
It all ends terribly though. Two young ladies that try to help the girl end up falling out when it turns out the taller one is in love with the shorter one, but the shorter one likes another of their travelling companions. The tear in the party is irrevocable, and they end up turning on each other. The young boy manages to rescue the girl once more before the gang finish murdering each other, before he, too, turns on her and almost kills her. She manages to kill him in return. The father ends up getting killed by the monsters inhabiting the realm right before he can catch up to his daughter, and the little girl finally finds her long-lost sister, only to discover that she's a decade-old corpse. In her grief, she ends her own life as the curtain falls on the play.

Well. That was grim.
You look to the two girls beside you to judge their reactions. Prime is shifting uncomfortably, while tears roll silently down Charme's face. "What kind of monster would write a story like that? Does he hate all lesbians?"

Maybe he does.

Do you Kaleun?

Allouete should be back and she'll definitely need Prime's advice.

totally didn't expect that. What the hell are you doing to archer girl, Caillou, and monk guy?

Wait, he was arguing with the same guy from that dragon quest? The guy who type like he's trying to be "cute", with random greentexts? The guy who keep bringing up how /tg/ hates femdom, according to him?

>>32710890
Yup.

>>32710890
yep, that faggot has been shitting up quest threads left right and center and is now trying to 'win' his 'arguments' in the QTG, we're all better off ignoring him

>>32710906
>>32710858
sorry, I didn't quite get it. Is the movie about what happened on qtg?

coolios, thanks for the thread so far HK

>>32710930
no, he's referencing his writing in LSQ and the terrible SUFFERING and DRAMA he wrote into it that kind of negatively impacted the quests health and direction
>>

>>32710930
I think the play is about the event of the game this quest is based on. Only with the grimdark going over 9000.

>>32710927
My god. It's like Psyche and Eros: I know it's probably a bad idea but I'm really tempted to go look
>>
>thread postponed
And I just got here.

Nagi when though.
>>
>>32710967
>I think the play is about the event of the game this quest is based on
nope, he's being all meta and referencing his other quest and the writing that kind of shat it up
>>
Well, now is maybe a good time to start working on the Milky Holmes quest I thought about in the middle of my french exam

>>32710954

Could someone tell him this quest is great and that I thank him for it?
>>
>>32710995
I linked him your post in twitter, but I'm pretty damn sure he can see the thread, the ban just prevents him from posting.
>>
>>32711129
>>32710995
Correct. Which is why I didn't bother.
>>
>>32711129
Thanks, dude!

On other note, the qtg is a mess.

What prevent us from all reporting the guy, by the way?
>>
>>32711193
the janitors and mods being douchebags pretty much, they should have banned his shitposting ass, but they haven't, just ignore him and all will be well in time
>>
>>32710951
Not entirely sure if he's trying to self-deprecate or make fun of the players, but he's definitely to bold to be bringing that up again so soon.

On a different note,
>The mods feel off-topic "feminism" trolling is not shitposting, and decided to ban me for reporting it.
this is why I never report anything anymore, better to just keep my head down and let the storm blow over.
>>
Would anyone be interested in a semi-serious Milky Holmes quest?

I'm asking here since qtg is a mess and you guys are nice
>>
>>32711339
I have no idea what that is. Do I need to know what that is to be able to make sense of anything? If not, yes, maybe, if I like your writing and such. Same rule that I apply to every quest.

You should be asking in QTG though, QM postponed this thread, so I figure he intended to pick it up again later? Would be rude to derail it in the meantime.
>>
>>32711367
Yeah, I think you're right.
>>
>>32710995
>Milky Holmes quest
Yes please.
