You close your eyes. “That's what Yui-chan does.” Well, it is now anyways. “No crying. Only smiles. We lived.”

From a bloodline standpoint, yes, but there's more going on that just "have wicked rad children". I can't remember the details of the groom's family, but it's to signify a greater economic and political alliance. It's the seal on a deal with broader value than just to improve the bloodline, and sadly, I don't know how much we have to offer besides a legion of cute smiles and (possibly) phenomenal cosmic power. If the clan's okay with getting in with the zaibatsu and thumbing their noses at our rivals (IIRC, the groom's family are technically competitors) then it might just be a straight up switch.

Hinata's shrine is a place of power that spirit-children are told to avoid, because the Kami and the youkai are very active there....and sometimes hungry.

You open your eyes and study them carefully. Kiki's mistrust of all healers and doctors is verging on a phobia, and the fear that you can't get better is feeding that. Yet she believes in you, your strength, your strange friends, and that you cannot die because you have to protect her – you promised, and she is holding onto that promise will all her might. She'll even pray with Akari and Yui if it helps. She needs you to save her, because no one else can. Hinata is a monster and can't be allowed to touch her Precious Treasure. Akari's and Yui's prayers won't save you from the thieving youkai.

That's kind of starting to make you wonder exactly who or what those two are praying to.

Jinyuu is certain that if something doesn't get done soon, something worse than you dying might happen, and the foreboding that hangs over her is a powerful pall. Yet she still holds out hope that things will be all right despite the interference Hebi-no-Oba, Kushinada, and Taisho Ryoga. And those damn brats....thwarting them is taking up more and more of her precious time. She can't spend enough time healing you, and her skills are woefully inadequate to the task in comparison with Hinata-sensei. Hinata-hakase will have you up in a single day, without fail....and she'll pay the price willingly.
