A week has passed since your adventure with the Stiller, and you have spent much of the interim studying your Tome and researching various subjects with the help of Vorelix. Through his insight you have gained knowledge of a relic that is carried by all Diabolists who ever became anything of note; the Eye of Ages. This device, as you have learned, gives you the ability to fully realize your Diabolist powers, to better guide and understand your Subjects, and to properly focus on where and how to improve your own abilities.

Madreon and Tyre have taken up sparring quite vigorously in their free time to keep their skills sharp. Barith has shown up from time to time with helpful advice about the political atmosphere, from his outsider's perspective.

Today, however, you are sitting in your room, which has recently become littered in pages with various notes, maps, and diagrams. Vorilex has a circle you have made for him where you can summon tomes for him to read, a bit of a trick he taught you.

How will we proceed today?

And further, it seems dubious. Quite dubious. Relying on a single tool for our 'full power'?

We're not one to go fully into danger without proper study. "Vorilex," you command as the skeletal figure emerges from the ground, "I want to know more of this Eye. Search for details and return to me when you have found enough to speak of it. I will be reading." He bows and dips back into the ground.

You open the Tome, which, surprisingly, you have nearly finished at this point. You have reached the beginning of the Index, where Subjects of great repute are named and their details listed for future Diabolists to know. Is there anyone you wish to study more fully?

Actually, yes. We've accidentally bound a celestial, right? What is there of dealings with celestials?
>>
>>32829242

The book is very sparse on the subject of Celestials, not mentioning any of them by name since, after all, Diabolists never summon them.

Vorelix reappears, "Master, I have found suitable information. It appears that the Eye of Ages was a gift from the Geomancers, that's the Earth Elementalists you will recall, to Diabolists as a show of friendship. They provide the incredibly rare piece of stone, you infuse it with your magic, and then it burrows into your eye and allows you to see that which is not visible normally. Perhaps the ever-helpful Barith could assist you in this?"

You are about to speak as Tyre bursts into the room, helmet on her head, "Master! We appear to be under attack. Barith sent me to come get you; Theurgists are approaching at great speed, he can feel the wingbeats of the Celestials they bring to battle with them." Over her shoulder lurks Madreon with an ambivalent look on his face.

"Master, are you ready to take up arms?" Tyre's eagerness carries through in her voice as your Subjects look at you.

"Come with me. We need to know what we're up against." You head down the stairs to Barith's library, but bump into the old man as he's making his way up the stairs. "Ah, young Alaster, it's good to see you. I take it your goodly Subjects have told you of the impending danger. I'm not certain how they found this place, but no matter. It's only five of them with five Celestials in tow." You pale slightly at the mention of five Theurgists with their Celestials all at once. While, admittedly, you do have three quality Subjects, it would be difficult for you to defeat even two individual Theurgists, their magic will make it difficult for you to negotiate the battle.

"The Tower itself is laughably easy to get into, as I'm sure you've seen, and any physical obstacle I erect will simply be torn apart by those Celestials, they're very strong." Barith loads his pipe as he lists out these truths. "Now, listen son, I like you, and I like the way you do business, but I ain't sticking my head out for the chop for you. Not, at least, without some payback." You nod for him to go on as he chuckles, "Well now, you see, there is a pretty rare piece of Earth Elementalism that I want to get my hands on. You get it for me, and I'll work for you as long as you want." After letting the drama fill the air he takes a puff on his pipe and smiles, "I want the fang, horn, or tail of a Gargoyle. Promise you bring it to me, and I'll help."

"Fai..." you start and he holds up his hand, "Not quite the full terms. I know you Diabolists love your explicit legal language." He leans to the side dramatically and listens, "Uh...they're getting close."

"I will assist you in whatever endeavours you choose to embark on using my Earth magic to your assistance. I won't violate the Tenet, for starters. I also want the tail before I die, ok, so none of this wishy washy give it to me in fifty years nonsense."

You laugh and ask, "Well fine, but I have a few questions first. How do you plan to help, and why all this ritual for something as easy as draining their magic? What do you even want the Gargoyle bit for?" He shakes his head, "See, the thing about those spiders is they can't leave the tower, and creatures of sufficient magical power can overwhelm the Null Stone effect. Five Celestials should blow through it without much issue. If it were so fool-proof we would have won the Founding Wars, but we certainly didn't. We didn't even place. I'm going to use my other powers to help. As for the Gargoyle bit, well....consider it a priceless piece of magical harmony that is based on a piece of Earth Elementalism. I want to see how it has interacted with the stone."

You remember to ask him later as he extends his hand, "So, that's the full deal. Fair warning, they're about ten minutes away."

You grip his hand and nod, "It's a fair deal. I agree." He thanks you and walks outside of the tower, you and your Subjects in tow. "So, what I think is wisest is to give you some time. I'll call up some golems, have them hold the line for a bit, and give us time to get you one of them fancy Eyes." You face him quickly and he waves his hand, "Son, I've been alive long enough to have made several of them for Diabolists in the past. If you want, it'll make you a helluva better commander and you can do some of your fancy circle magic better with that Eye. It's a good thing, damn well better be if Diabolists would do what they did for it." He spits on the ground and raises his hands, chanting with his eyes closed and the ground nearby begins to rumble and shake as five massive stone and dirt men emerge, drawing shields from the ground. "They're each worth about a minute or two of stalling time. So, let's say you've got 10 minutes, for them to come here, break the golems, and find us. I can make an Eye in ten minutes. The question is, can you infuse it with the right stuff?"

Vorelix leans in, whispering, "Master, the ritual requires calling or binding a Mystic Subject into the Eye. Finding one of proper strength, building the circle, and binding it will take time. At your current level I think you would need double that time."

Madreon may not be the best liar, capable of schooling his face to pretend everything is cool guys, even when ordered to. Virtues seldom have a need to try deceiving.
>>
>>32830062
He doesn't need to deceive anyone. He will truthfully state that he is bound to us.
>>
>>32830045
That's insane. They're probably hunting down the diabolist who stole a celestial summoning.

You could, I guess, try and probe if that's exactly what they're doing, by sending in Madreon from a different direction, not seeming to come from the tower. And ask, hey buddies, whatcha doing can I help? My theurgist is in the region and caught wind of you guys.

"I'll talk to them. Maybe Madreon and I can stall them." The Virtue makes a startled expression, "Brother...I cannot lie. Even if you order me to, I cannot. It's part of my nature. I cannot tell deceit willingly." You wave your hand, "Then you don't need to, I'll talk to them. And besides, you won't have to lie."

Barith chews on his pipestem, "Are you sure that's a wise idea? I am not sure why they'd be coming here with such haste, unless they know something about you. But, if you are certain about your plan. What do you want me to do then?"

Prepare an ambush. If the diplomacy does not work, we can strike. Presumably this will include quality hiding, as well.

To the Virtue, ask him only to speak the truth, that he works with us and that we willingly work with him.
>>

I don't think he can pretend he joined willingly.

Theurgists don't bind like diabolists do.

Diplomancing the sworn enemies is the new "touch the tiny summoning circle".
>>
>>32830112

Madreon, interrupting your thoughts unusually, suddenly blurts out, "Brother, I'm sorry, I have something to tell you. When Celestials are called we issue forward for military ventures in groups, and are summoned by groups of Theurgists in just such a fashion. The ones pursuing us are, undoubtedly, the rest of my Salvation, and they have been tracking me, perhaps by guidance of a Visionary. I thought your comrades would have killed the Theurgists, but it seems like they hadn't necessarily all died. This bodes ill. The Upper Realm is probably aware of your....apprehension of my summoning. Forgive me for not telling you sooner, I thought it a mere outlier."

"Are they still using a Visionary?" He shrugs his shoulders, "Forgive me, but I cannot tell that. My specialty is archery and healing magics, I cannot detect if magic is being worked upon me." Barith taps his foot, "We are running out of time, Master. If you want to question the Celestial, that's fine, but we will need to do so inside, lest we risk being attacked here. The golems can be used as distractions while we setup inside." He hastens inside the tower. Tyre, who has been standing silently, voices her opinion, "Master, you promised me a chance to fight. Permit me a role in this upcoming battle." Madreon looks around the tower and isolates a few places where he can make his bow skills useful. Vorelix offers his services, "An ambush is possible, Master. However, they are not my specialty, my magic is more related to knowledge and, in combat, artillery-style conjurations. If you want someone who is skilled at deception, a Reaver would be much more useful in the matter."

All of these thoughts, whirling through your head, a thousand different choices. You need time to think, above all. If you could just have....five minutes alone to think, you could enact a suitable counter-measure. However, with the way that things are shaping up, you either have to decide to wing a plan, or to rely on the golems to protect you and let you plan.

Your mind races on variables and eventually settles on a plan. "Ok, Madreon, we're going to be going on an assassination plan. If we kill the Theurgists then the Celestials will return, even they need an anchor to this world. So, Tyre, Madreon, come with me. Vorelix, go to the top of the tower and use your magic to hinder them. Hide if they get close."

You head downstairs without another word and grab Barith. "I need you to move us through the earth behind the Theurgists. I know you can do it." He nods and walks to a nearby wall, "You want us to attack when the golems have their attention?" You nod rapidly and he touches the wall, creating a small room with seats, which you all take as he closes it off and moves, with great speed through the earth. You pause after a few moments of travel as he touches the walls, "I can feel the fight happening. We go now."

The little room emerges from the ground and disappears around you. Five Celestials dart in and out of combat with the golems, while their Theurgists rain down light and white energy to assist.

"Tyre, I want you to kill the Theurgists. Ignore the Celestials, that's a direct order." She nods, a bit begrudgingly, and draws her sword. "Barith, shoot to kill with whatever you can throw. But first, raise a ring of stones around them." The man raises his hands and the ground around them raises. You raise your hands. What to use...

You grip your hands around invisible chains and chant the words of magic. Barith throws spears of stone that launch into the ring as Vorelix rains a gale of glass shards down into the ring. Tyre thrusts her long weapon through the back of one of the Theurgists from outside of the circle.

White orbs of light appear around the Theurgists and you can, for a half-second, see red and black chains wrapped around the orbs, before shattering them into a thousand pieces. The Theurgists turn and their Celestials lunge towards you. Madreon raises his bow and starts raining arrows at them. One of the Theurgists calls out a warning for the circle and you frown, doing it again. This time the chains snare and drag two of them, screaming, down into the ground before vanishing entirely.

Tyre lunges towards a Theurgist, her blade stopped by a Celestial who desperately lunged down to protect him. The remaining two unengaged Theurgists run towards you, raising their hands and generating a barrier of light. One of the golems, the only one left, lumbers behind as Vorelix launches his final spell before disappearing from sight.

You are left facing down one Theurgist, the last one currently trading blows with Barith. A sword of light appears in her hand and she runs towards you as her Celestial flies towards Madreon.

You extend your gloved left hand and charge it briefly with your eldritch energy releasing it towards the Theurgist. A series of chains, tipped with hooks, explode outwards and pierce the flesh of the young woman, dragging her to the ground as her Celestial vanishes in a flash of light. She grips at the chain, unable to budge it, as the chains snap back towards you, dragging a gray shadow with it. She breathes out and your Vessel flashes, absorbing her soul, or what's left of it from the Invocation.

The din of battle calms and you collect the souls of the Theurgists, bringing your total souls claimed up to twenty five. Madreon looks ill at what he just took part in and gazes off into the distance. Tyre returns, a bit more pleased at getting to exchange blows, but unfulfilled as she took no Celestial lives.

Barith smiles, "Very well done, lad. I believe that we will have a good cooperation." You calm your beating heart and send Tyre and Madreon back to the tower as you collapse onto your rear and gather your energy. The use of magic like that drained you, but the gauntlet helped a great deal with Invocations and circle magic.

Barith is standing next to you, puffing on his pipe, cool as can be.

"So, Diabolists and your kind used to work together?" He laughs at your question and then nods, "Certainly. Well, we all worked together, in some capacity, in the past. There was no extremely deep connection between our two Clans, save for the Eyes. You see, we could craft the Eye that you wanted, and in exchange, you would bind souls to stone for us, allowing for the creation of Greater Golems or Simulacrae." He takes a puff on his pipe and smiles, "So, speaking of; are you ready for the Eye?" You nod and the two of you return to the laboratory.

As he toils on the Eye you ask, "Say...tell me about the Tenet of Twelve?" He chuckles, "Sure. Long ago, after the Founding Wars, the first Archmagister, Yvese, gathered the greatest practitioners of the other eleven schools. She had seen the results of so-called Juggernauts, people who were quickly taught the basics of as many schools as possible and forced into battle, and how they had torn through themselves, their comrades, and the land. She, along with the other 11, created a titanic tapestry of magic and bound it to a physical form. This Tenet of Twelve, as it would be called, would inflict a dire curse on those who learned more than one Arte. Those who learned would have the mana in their bodies turn to liquid fire, burning them from the inside out. Every spell they cast, every bit of mana used, would kill them a little more. This curse was laid on both student and master."

This is /tg/. We can, and will, make everyone enjoy each other! We perhaps get a side benefit of being ultra-powerful, too.

He turns back to his work and after a few more minutes in silence he holds up a perfectly smooth eye-sized orb. "There we go." You look at it, seeing the small grooves cut into the stone, like veins.

"Now it's up to you, and I will putting it in your eye for you. So, go ahead and get your Diabolist mojo on." He sits back in the chair as he waits.

You start researching the book with Vorelix, looking over your shoulder, before he mentions. "You know, you can just TRICK a demon into being bound into the Eye. The Eye mutes all personality, and while the power does affect the effectiveness of the Eye, it doesn't do so by enough that it's worth summoning someone extremely powerful...unless you get a Greater Subject."

He taps his fingers together, pensively, "It's a clever trick, if you want to do it, Master. I, of course, will help you."

There is a chance, albeit a slim one, that we can try the pact from last thread: The Stiller's memories of us for his release. If we can release him into the Eye, perhaps even better.

That is a question worth asking.

>>32831632
>1) Accept his offer
I like the idea of getting the big guy down there. If he's a Greater Subject.
>>
>>32831710
We may not even need to. Vorelix indicates that a demon can be tricked into the eye. The Stiller wants out of his prison. Releasing him into the Eye IS out of his prison, and if we do it for his memories of us he will have no idea should he escape.

"Certainly, and I have just the one in mind.Let's bind the Stiller to my Eye." Vorelix shows what little shock he can on his skeletal face before laughing, "Oh, Master, you are quite the Diabolist at heart. Very well....come, let us figure the plan out perfectly."

And so, with his instruction, you are taught a few glyphs you can place in a circle before releasing it that will transport the subject into another Circle, this one under your power, outside of the pocket dimension. "Now, make certain that the circle is well bound!" Your Mystic chides you as you draw the circle with chalk.

After fifteen minutes of preparation the circle is lined with incense, chalk, blood, stone, steel, cord, cloth, and various orders in Low Speech to bind and restrain the target. Additionally, as Vorelix promises fervently, he will reinforce the binding by restraining the Stiller with his own power from a nearby Circle. You will stand in a Circle adjacent to Vorelix and, together, with the Eye in a tiny circle between you and the Stiller, will force him into the Eye, subservient. Now just to get him to agree.

You emerge from the pocket dimension with Vorelix inside of your body, wrapped around your skeleton. The feeling is, frankly, disgusting, but it was the only way to pass through the Circle.

The Stiller emerges, magnificent and huge as always. You kneel before him and he snorts, "Oh, you again. Come to waste my time?"

You bow, "Oh great Stiller, forgive my ignorant transgressions in the past. I know such a request is far too grand considering the scale of my folly, but perhaps allow me this; strike the memory of my rudeness from your mind and I will set you free, as I should have in the first place."

The Stiller pauses and then chuckles, "Ah, I see you have found the truth of my nature. Good, little mortal, you have learned the way well." A sound fills the area as he becomes a human again, his face all smiles. You walk forward, walking on your heel of your left foot as you near him. "Very well, I will forgive and forget all transgressions against me for my freedom. Consider yourself fortunate I am in a generous mood." You bow and step your foot into the circle, pressing the toe down, hard, enough to leave the carefully drawn mark on the ground, as you step back and break the Circle.

He swells up into his true form, causing you to look down, a moment of pure trust. "Hahaha, foolish mortal. Did you think I would really forgive so easily? Your blood will be the drink to slake..." He pauses, the air vibrating as he reaches towards you, grabbing at you, but by the time his hand wraps around you, it is naught but dust.

Vorelix crawls out of your mouth, leaving you almost completely nauseated as he grabs you, "No time for that, now....back to the lair."

You return to find a furious Stiller, smashing his fists against the walls of his Circle, roaring, "WHORESON!"

"Enough of your jabber. This is over. Vorelix, do it." The skeletal demon cackles, his head turning on its neck as energy soars from every gap in his skeletal frame and his claws turn up to the air, the energy flowing into the Circle as it tugs at the Stiller from all angles, pulling at his skin and drawing out his energy, forging it into runes on the ground. You chant the ritual, holding your Vessel aloft as you twist the energies around your other hand before, finally, pushing it forward.

The Stiller's horrific form contorts into a green liquid that flows into the Eye's Circle, filling the grooves of the Eye before, at long last, the energy in the room vanishes and the Eye flashes, just once, and then become identical to your emerald-like eyes.

A few minutes of strangeness later in front of Barith, you blink your left eye a few times, the Eye of Ages feeling strange as you get used to what exactly it shows you.

"What's that? Inside of you, I see a poison." He looks at you, stone-faced, and then shakes his head sadly, "Just a leftover from a mistake. Nothing more." As you start to press him for more answers you are distracted.

"Oh, Master!! I have found something of interest." You leave Barith, a bit grudgingly, and head over to where Tyre and Vorelix are crowded around something. You push past them and look down. What you see is something of value that even you, inexperienced as you are, can recognize.

You kneel and pick up the small piece of cloth and spread it out. "This is interesting." As you glance up and down the writing scribed upon the cloth and mouth the words, your eye burns slightly as it reveals what is unseeable.

"Though I do search for it, I cannot find it. That which I hunger for does ever escape my grasp, for it, in my opinion, hides within that which should not be found; the Ultimate Dragon, last of its kind. Truly, a move of this nature could only be attributed to she of greatest wisdom, the Archmagister Yvese herself, and it is because of this that I know my quest will end in my doom; yet I go. I will seek out the Stiller, he who laid low the apprentice of Yvese. I believe that he is bound here, beneath this tower in which I have conducted my studies for so long. What a fool I was to not notice it. I dare..." and from there the cloth is torn, the rest of the message gone.

He's not dead. Just taking a time-out. He's perhaps the most dickish demon we've ever met, and probably wouldn't have told us anything anyway. At least now maybe he can 'see' things from our perspective.

And maybe we'll get more accurate clues if his memories contribute to what we see from the eye.
>>
>>32833094

[Also, to finish answering. Dragons, as you have heard, were the ones who first achieved control over magic. Their Art, Grand Arcana is long forgotten and never was taught to humans. Its lesser version, Arcana, was one of the 12 Artes. Another Arte, Elder Craft, tried to emulate dragons as much as possible. It was not even close to their magnitude and power.]
>>
>>32833134
Yeah, he's not dead, but those memories are getting deleted every minute that we delay, and we have currently NO ritual which can access them.

So unless Vorelix knows it, and since Mortarion's notes are all destroyed, we'd have to get very powerful Demon spellcaster to give us the ritual we need; most likely for a very high price and they'd be able to figure out that we bound a high-class demon in our eye.
>>
>>32833124
Is there such a thing as a life long binding? I imagine we would have to be able to bargain with their utter annihilation in order for them to agree to a lifelong binding
>>
>>32833182
[A lifelong Pact? Yeah, it does exist. Obviously, Subjects are loathe to do it, and if you're in such a position over one that you can do so, they're probably not worth your time. A more commonly practiced art is the Fellbind, but it's something we've only heard whispered about, however, Mortarion's work does seem to echo the general idea; permanently affixing Subjects to you for their power.]
>>
>>32833182
He stays in our eye. He's like the living incarnation of dickery, and I'd not say that he would hold any bargain truthfully.

>>32833170
Honestly, it doesn't seem to be too much of a fuss. We could examine around for clues next time, but I'm not sure how high a priority this dragon is. If it's to do with the old archmagister, we could maybe pursue the tapestry and run into clues about the dragon along the way.
>>
>>32833214
Speaking of, how does one actually imprison a demon like was done to The Stiller?

Is it possible to just conventionally lure and trap them?
>>
>>32833214
Mostly interested in this because, well, say we invest a large amount of souls in to a demon, who gains enormous power and nuggets off when our pact is up
>>
>>32833278
On the other hand, it does somewhat incentivize the demon to get us killed, rather than a conventional exchange.
>>
>>32833254
>>32833278
Oh, you know... Can we make Eyes as portable prisons? Or do they require implantation to maintain function?
>>
>>32833254
[Circles generally use a source of power to fuel their integrity, and the Subject needs an anchor to this plane to exist, otherwise they are forced back to the Low Duchies. Blood is the most commonly used source of power to open the gate, and we are the anchor. The Stiller's prison, you speculate, was powered by the realm itself, or whatever powered it, and anchored to the realm. Whoever trapped him there was a very powerful Diabolist, and in all likelihood, probably had help with that.]

>>32833278
>>32833296
[You two have touched on one of the most important rules of being a Diabolist. There's more of them than there are of us, they're stronger, meaner, and more powerful. And, worst of all, they LOVE to chatter with one another. You can and will gain a reputation for negative treatment towards Subjects. Oh sure, they're not picky about you mistreating one here and there, but continual abuse of Subjects will cause you to become Forsaken. Demons, and Diabolists, hunt Forsaken for the bounty of favor and souls they inevitably have with them.]
>>
>>32833326
[Eyes require implantation. You aren't the first to think of that, your Master told you once of a Diabolist who conquered an orphanage and used them as Fiends, humans in possession or under possession of Low Subject magics. He stored demons in Eyes and Eyes in children. It worked out poorly for him.]
>>
>>32833335
>but continual abuse of Subjects will cause you to become Forsaken
See! Diplomancy now officially sanctioned. Our cause it true!
>>
>>32833351
But on the other hand, Barith did mention simulacra. This may grant us the potential to make hybrid-prisons:
Like The Stiller's little home, but perhaps one of infused rock, holding the demon conventionally to a stone anchor.

Since we have a geomancer, research of the Eye in conjunction with other imprisoning mechanics may grant us a very useful defense mechanism.
>>
>>32833428

[You're getting pretty deep into Soulcraft here. That's dangerous territory. Not a lot of Diabolists are willing to teach it, or even see it being taught.]
>>
>>32833360
You so funny anon.
>>
>>32833481
So my thoughts are that it may be best to find reasonably even tempered/mannered demons like the one we have now, and simply treat them fairly and we won't have a need to try and imprison them to protect our soul investment.

As in, why would they leave if the souls are flowing and their master doesn't abuse them
>>
>>32833481
"Teach it"?! Ha! See: Ambitious
We develop it ourselves. Innovate!
Yessss, we make a simulacra, give it an Eye of Ages, stick a demon in the Eye using it to power the simulacra and the simulacra to hold the eye!
A loyal servant golem and demon prison hybrid.
If it proves problematic, we just make the simulacra without the ability to move.
>>
>>32833517
That's not really a novel idea. It's not like anything else was being done.
>>
>>32833573
There was just talks moments ago of imprisoning them to maintain control, besides, its just a discussion.
>>
>>32833590
I'm recommending the prison development for the dicks, like The Stiller. Demons which are forthright with us, we probably don't have a problem with. But as well, even the demons themselves might have a use for a freelance warden, in case some of their own get a little unhinged.
>>
>>32833590
>>32833522

[Speaking of, any questions about any other arts?]
>>
>>32833624
>freelance warden
I don't think you've thought this through at all.

They have their own system of governance in the Duchies. They don't need an upstart mortal to execute or torture the uppity for them.
>>
>>32833660
They're not capable of doing what Diabolists can.

>>32833653
List of them please!

We already have that.

>>
>>32833653
How were they developed, and what goes into raw magical research?

In theory, if we developed something completely new, it may not be bound by the tapestry's curse.
>>
>>32833696
One with a bit about them please.
>>
>>32833653
No.

I am curious about the governance of the Council of Nine, though.

They conquered the whole planet?
>>
>>32833731
> As far as the other schools go, I cannot rightly say what they exactly did, and no one else could tell you either. The monsters of the Culling purged away all practitioners and devoured all knowledge they could

However, you can infer from their names more or less clearly. Except Arcana and Elder Art, they're pretty generic sounding.

Elementalism - Elements. duh. Like Earth.
Ancestry - using your ancestors.
Cerebremancy - mind magic.
Runecraft - symbols
Alchemistry - substances, transmutation
Naturalism - power over/using flora/fauna
Umbramancy - shadow magic
Sanguimancy - blood magic
>>
>>32833702
>>32833696

[The exact nature of their development is lost to the ages. The oldest one, it is said, was inherited from the Dragons giving a gift to the most intelligent and capable human, fifty thousand years ago. However, that seems unlikely. Each Arte also has their own founding story.]

>>32833757
[The Council of Nine have asserted their control over the main continent. There are parts of the world, across the sea, that were ruled over by various other Artes, during the Magocracy, The Diabolists took control over the capital and seated the Cuoncil there. So, no, there are pieces of the known world that are unclaimed.]

>>32833828
[Also, this guy]
>>
>>32833731
It was said explicitly that Alaster and everyone else have not even vague knowledge about them at all, come on read the quest.
>>
>>32833828
Yes, I'm aware what the names might imply. I'm asking for a fucking list with details. Are you trying to practice being pointlessly arrogant?

If there's no data on them, it would be fairly silly for the QM to ask if we had any questions, since he wouldn't answer any of them. He has also mentioned things like "Soulcraft", which is not on that list.
>>
>>32833897
[Soulcraft is a Mastery, one of the subsections of the Arte of Diabolism. Every Arte has several.]

[Anyway, I'm gonna dip for now, guys. Thanks for hanging around to shoot the shit. If you feel like asking more, I can respond to questions on Twitter while I'm at work. Until then, see you Wednesday, maybe Tuesday if I run Quest 2]
>>
>>32833848
So no idea what Arcana and Elder Art were, then?

Also isn't the Binding of Gert redundant with the Tenant of Twelve?
>>
>>32833848
Aha. Wellll, if there's the potential for different foundings, then there's even the potential for us to found something new. However difficult that may be.
>>
>>32833933
[Preceded it. It was never abolished when the Tenant was laid down because, why not a back up?]
>>
>>32833917
Demanding list of masteries you tease! I demand!
>>
>>32828972
Er, is there a character sheet?
>>
>>32833989
[Hmm, perhaps something for me to write tomorrow? Keep your eyes on the Twitter, it helps me relieve the boredom at my job.]
>>
>>32833917
I had a question, about how long the binding to the Eye of Ages lasts after the diabolist dies.

Is the demon freed, or does he die with you, having long ago had his personality destroyed?
>>
>>32834064
[Yes, http://pastebin.com/hdEXw5u3 ]

>>32834070
[The second, the demon's soul vanishes along with yours. If it is unclaimed by a Vessel it goes wherever souls go after death.]
>>
>>32834065
Yaaaay! I would like to request then a list of Things We Know, for our character. Like, if we've heard anything about the other artes, their masteries, places of interest, etc.

Basically a window into the world.
>>
>>32834088
Can souls be reconstituted from a vessel and recorporealized?

Can demons be killed-killed by physical damage, or do they require special murdering?

Damn orphans. You give them demonic powers in your ultimate army and they're so ungrateful.
>>
>>32834261
The orphans probably loved him for taking such good care of them.
Then he was likely killed by demons for imprisoning their friends in orphans.
And the orphans taken to the Lower Planes to be torturously eaten.

>Thanks for playing, guys, we'll be kicking it off again on Wednesday. I may be doing Quest Thread 2 tomorrow. Stay tuned for updates.

I'm confused.
>Quest Thread 2
But next thread is 4
>tomorrow
and he just said Wednesday? What is QT2?
>>
>>32834375
A second quest, probably.
>>
>>32834399
Suddenly, Theurgist quest: Kill The Diabolist edition.
>>
>>32834439
That would be interesting.

Two quests run by the same QM in the same world with MC's on opposing sides with opposing interests.
>>
>>32834466
It would be impossible to stop players from one from sabotaging the other though.

Or inexplicably forcing crossovers where they diplomance and team up and defeat the entire premise.
>>
>>32834487
Well that might be an entertaining element. Since there would be people trying to sabotage either.

And eventually diplomancy would perhaps of course win, since this is /tg/.
>>
>>32834487
I said interesting not plausible.

It would work if you could somehow bar players from one quest from viewing the other.
>>
>>32834507
Yes, which is what makes the premise untenable and lose the very thing that could make it interesting.
>>
>>32834514
Depends on the QM. There are ways, my boy. Oh there are ways.

Diplomancy isn't an 'invalid' solution, per se. But would it be easy?
>>
>>32834559
It invalidates the concept of MCs "on opposing sides with opposing interests", so yes, it is.
