Upon arriving at a gruesome campsite scene, your reality was shattered and you became aware that this was all real. Luckily a mysterious voice in your head called out to you and saved you from drowning in your own madness. Who or what this voice was, you are not sure, but you pressed on and located your target.

After engaging the Yura of the Demon Hair in a 2-on-1 fight, you and Inuyasha bested her in combat and return with her as a hostage back to the village. You have plans for this she-devil, but you can’t help but feel that you’ve become stronger and sharper...

Although Honed Body is probably the best choice if this were a licensed RPG - ie, we'd be facing opponents of a given power at each level of advancement - this is more free-form, rules being developed as we go by the QM. If we pimp out our stats rapidly, it's possible the QM will end up having to simply increase the stats of opponents we are facing, making the advancement a null choice. No offense to you SnowLoss, just want to point out the possibility, since our Numbers being better than their Numbers could possibly lead to a more boring game otherwise.

That may be true, but we are at the mercy of the TG dice rolls for attacks and all that. I think that might even out the balance for having spectacular stats vs. spectacular special abilities.

Although there is something to consider about the stat scale. If all of the possible NPC stats are on the same scale (like how in some RPGs, a regular human with a high enough strength score can catch a giant's punch and then flip him over), then investing in stats is a sound investment, with specializing coming in later. However, if a Human with an STR score of 18 is still not as good as a Giant with an STR score of 12 or so, then stats would be a pretty underwhelming investment.

The villagers glare at the three of you before one man speaks up. “DEMONS! SHE’S IN LEAGUE WITH DEMONS!”

The rest of the crows begins shouting as well. A scowl crosses your face. You know you have to diffuse the situation and if you really are the reincarnation of their cherished miko Kikyo… they you can use that to your advantage.

“This is Yura of the demon hair. She is the one responsible for tonight’s attack.”
You nod and Inuyasha throws her in front of you. The crowd grows even louder, demanding blood for blood. Yura scowls and bears her teeth like a trapped animal.

You step forward and slam the butt of your naginata on the ground. The sliver of the waxing moon rising above the tree line, basking you in its eerie blue glow.

“ENOUGH!” You shout. The villagers quiet immediately, the crackling of their torches fire and the ambient sounds of night the only noise they dare emit.

“I am not of your land nor are you of mine. Your laws are not my laws. Yura will stand trial. That is MY law. That is my objection. That is my PRIDE. And that is my JUSTICE!”

The crowd immediately falls to their knees profusely apologizing except for one man at the back… Keisuke, the shopkeeper.

“An interesting speech Lady Kagome, but tell me, how exactly do you plan on redeeming such a monster you yourself caught red handed? A trial with such explicit evidence seems like a waste of time.”

“They will go to the Bone Eaters well… and they will rid us of the demon that has been sealed in the well.” Replies Kaede walking toward the mob from behind you, Katamori and Mushin in tow.

Kaede takes a sip of tea before continuing “She once kidnapped me as a child and sought to ransom me for the Jewel, however my sister slew her and dumped her remains in the well so that she could not return. However your arrival seems to have stirred her from her resting place child.”

“I’ve placed some sutras on the well, but they won’t last through the night.” Adds Mushin, ignoring his tea and taking another swig from his gourd.

The three of you each grip a corner of a sutra and nod in unison before ripping them off together.

The ground under you rumbles as a strange orange, purple and pink light emits from the well. Yura heads up into the trees while Inuyasha takes the other side leaving you alone in the clearing.

Two hands grip the rim of the well. Then two more. The topless frame of a six armed woman slowly emerges from the well. “FINALLY AFTER 50 YEARS I LIVE AGAIN!”

You instantly recognize this demon… this was the one that burst out of the well at your families own shrine a few days ago…

“GIVE ME THE JEWEL!” it hisses, launching itself into the air, it’s massive segmented body forming a grotesque writhing pillar. Her body twists and contorts and she ascends. She begins screaming. The air quickly fills with fire as Yura ignites the web of razor hair now forming a lattice within the centipede demon. The centipede demons screams are filled by a chorus of shrieks as her chitinus armor begins cracking to release the pressure from her boiling insides.

You see a flash of silver impact her in her head, freezing her in place. Inuyasha, leaping out of the canopy with his fist cocked back and glowing yellow, quickly follows. “IRON REAVER…”

His fist connects the hilt of his thrown sword, now lodged hilt deep in Mistress Centipedes forehead. “…SOUL STEALER!”

The yellow orb rushes down Mistress Centipede’s towering body, tearing her asunder segment by segment. The shockwave blows back the leaves of the trees and knocks you off your feet. The echo of the attack finally fades from the forest valley and all that’s left is the ashes of Mistress Centipede’s dissipating on the wind.

Heeding Kaedes warning you decide to stick around to see if the monster reforms… that was almost too easy for “one of the most powerful demons”.

Inuyasha walks up nxt to you, but quickly takes a seat and leans up against the well before yawning. Meanwhile Yura swoops in from the canopy . her arm slowly re-stitching itself together and lands gracefully by your side. “Are we done here?”

i would not say we are carrying her around for nothing she is right now the best crowd control we got right now in locking down a area and her domination ablitys are extreamly effective however she is going to back stab us the first chance she gets but if we get that collar on her it will make things much easier in controlling her we just need too keep a good eye on her

You take one last look around the area, but can’t find any traces of the demon you supposedly just killed. You’re left wondering if it truly is invincible… but as long as you and the jewel within you isn’t around it shouldn’t be a problem right?

Oh god you probably breathed some in… what if it like, burrows in your brain or something? You begin forcing yourself to try and sneeze before coming to the rationalization that if it was still able to regenerate and it was in your system you would have felt something by now.

As for the ashes… you look off to the dark horizon of the looming mountains. There’s nothing you can do now if she CAN come back from that.

Inuyasha taps his foot as he waits for you with Yura at the entrance of the clearing, seeming a little more sluggish than usual. Your mind drifts back to this jewel everyone wants. The shopkeeper told you a little about it, but Inuyasha sought after it and probably even killed for it. And Yura… is Yura.

“So Inuyasha… what’s the big deal with this Jewel everyone says I have?”

She's also made from a comb that spent 100 years fixing the dead :V While I suppose the collar would fix make her easier to control, it would be an interesting challenge to win her over.
It's too bad this isn't like other Japanese-y things where we could just get her Name and own her completely...

“Ya mean ya don’t know? Well I guess I shouldna’ figured since ya an’t from around here… basically it’s a magic jewel that grants demons a huge power boost. But since I’m already the strongest there is I don’t need no trinkets.”

“It’s more than that.” Yura adds, dropping her pace a little to stand behind Inuyasha, “Legend has it, it’s composed of four different souls of the four most powerful demons that have ever existed… but then some filthy old priestess sealed them all away and “purified” them… it’s quite tragic really.”

“Hey whater’ ya… HEY!” You turn to see that Yura has braided Inuyashas hair. She clasps her hands together and smiles at her handiwork “I can’t WAIT to scalp you! That hair is simply divine!”

You sigh and pick up your pace, humming to yourself as the two continue to throw insults at each other as Inuyasha tries to undo the braid work and Yura yells as him not to get it tangled up.

As you exit the forest, Kaede and Mushin stand in the center of the road, their hands clasped in prayer, each of them holding a stalk of burning incense and a ring of prayer beads.


MEANWHILE: ”So they all made it out alive… how interesting and unfortunate…”
