Decisions are made by vote. Each vote has a ten minute interval, after which, the option that receives the most votes it the one that is chosen.

There are no write-ins unless explicitly stated

Some options require rolls. In that event, rolls will be out of 100. Whether rolls succeed or fail is decided by the first three rolls. If one passes, then you succeed regardless of the other two. Rolls will really only occur during training, or when trying something new.
All decisions are final. If you regret voting for something, too bad. Think carefully before you make decisions.

Ren snorts. "None of that, please. And, I'm not surprised that my sister didn't tell you. She doesn't really like to acknowledge that we're related; me being a non-bender, and all."

"Why should that matter?" your mother asks.

"It shouldn't," Ren replies. "But, my sister is really hung up on her idea of "bender superiority". So, she doesn't like the idea of having a non-bending sibling. And she especially doesn't like the idea of people knowing about it."

"So, why tell us?" Bulo asks.

"Your brother asked," Ren replies before looking at you. "I figured it only polite that I give him an honest answer."

He gives a polite smile. "Of course."

"So, since you know how we got chosen, it's only fair that we know how you got chosen," Galda tells you.

"Good point," Felna agrees. "Why was your family chosen to lead this project?"

"Well, for one thing, my wife and I fought in the great war," your father explains. "For that reason, the Queen thought we were good choices for a potentially dangerous mission."

"And of course, the fact that you're both benders, along with your children, likely contributed to her decision," Ren adds.

"Yes, I suppose," your father concedes, sounding slightly perturbed.

"Well, bending should be useful," Galda says. "After all, it's a lot easier to fight when you don't actually have to get close and risk death."

You get the feeling that was meant as an insult, and judging by the look on your father's face, he has reached the same conclusion.

"Yeah, throwing rocks is fun!" Sonyo says, the smile on his face telling you he didn't pick up on the insult.

Felna smiles. "It sounds like it."

She looks at your parents. "So you're Earthbenders? Your skills must have been useful in the war."

Your mom smiles. "Our bending did help us win a few fights. But honestly, I think the hundreds of well trained soldiers contributed more."

She gets up, and walks over to a small stone on the ground. Pulling back her right foot, she kicks the stone against a tree.

"Wow, that took so much skill," she comments sarcastically.

Your father's face turns red, while your mother just smiles softly and shakes her head. Felna rolls her eyes while Bulo glares. Sonyo and Lee look a bit confused.

"That's enough, Galda," Sena tells her daughter. "Take a seat."

"What?" Galda asks. "My point is that bending is simple. Firebenders can shoot blasts of flame from their hands, Earthbenders can throw rocks straight ahead, Waterbenders can mess with currents a little bit, and Airbenders can make gusts of wind. I really doubt it takes any actual skill to do something so basic."

Your father looks ready to explode, but you can also tell that he can't really find a retort to that, as she did pretty much describe the extend of a bender's abilities.

"What about the Avatar?" Lee asks. "He could do all sorts of things with bending."

Galda rolls her eyes. "One bender out of all of them doing something impressive-"

"Two," Sena corrects.

"Fine, two benders out of all of them doing something impressive does not make bending great," Galda states.

"Your mother said take a seat," Ren says in annoyance.

Galda sighs. "Fine."

As Galda goes back to her spot, Felna looks at her parents. "Wasn't there some waterbender to the south a while back who could do all kinds of tricks?"

"So they say," your father answers. "But, I'm not sure if I believe it. After all, he wound up dead; his tricks didn't save him."

"Nobody is invincible," Ren points out.

You fall onto your back with a grunt, and look up to see Galda standing over you, smirking.

Not willing to accept defeat, you get back to your feet and assume a defensive stance once again.

Galda rolls her eyes and comes at you with another punch, which you manage to block once again. This time, when she drops to sweep your legs out from under you, you jump over her leg and kick her in the head, knocking her onto her back.

She quickly rolls back and gets to her feet, leaping at you and bringing her knee into your arms, causing you to stagger back and knocking your arms back, leaving you exposed.

She lands and spins, kicking you in the chest and knocking you onto your back a second time. This time, she steps on your chest to keep you pinned, and she looks kind of pissed.

"Are you going to give up, or am I going to have to beat your head into the ground until you're crapping out rocks, Earthbender?" she asks.

Her eyes narrow and she digs her heel into your chest.

She scowls at your last two sentences and puts more weight on your chest. "Oh, you can understand, can you? You're even more stupid than I thought. You don't understand a damn thing."

Galda throws a glare towards her father. "No, it isn't. He wants to know "where this hostility comes from", so I'm going to tell him."

She turns her attention back to you. "You don't understand. My family is royalty. My aunt is the queen, but we sure aren't treated like royalty by everyone else. And my aunt, the Queen, treats us all like dirt. She kicked my dad out of the palace as soon as she took the thrown, and never acknowledged our existence. We never heard from her until we were told about this little trip. We found out that we were being sent to explore and crea-

In response, you grab her leg. Using all of your strength, you manage to pull her to the ground next to you. You flip over and attempt to pin her, but she rolls out of the way and punches you in the side of the head.

She keeps rolling and gets to her feet, but you quickly do the same and tackle her from behind. After a few moments of struggling, you manage to pin her on her stomach beneath you.

You get off of her as quickly as you can, scurrying to your feet, and hearing sighs of relief from Sena and Felna. Galda gets to her feet, dusts herself off, and turns towards you, eyes narrowed.

"Smart move," she tells you before punching you in the nose.

Your hands reflexively go to cover your nose as your head swims and your eyes tear up. With your hands and arms occupied elsewhere, you're kicked in the gut, then grabbed by the hair when you hunch over. She throws you onto the ground, where you land on your face. Before you can move, her foot is pressed against the back of your head.

"Give up. Now!" she commands.

You quickly get on top of her and pin her once again, putting your weight on top of her to keep her from getting away.

You can practically feel the pure rage rolling off of her right now, and are very, very glad you have her restrained; you do not want a repeat of what she did to you a few moments ago.

Instead, you get another hit to the nose as she throws her head back and slams it into your nose. Tears cloud your vision, but you don't need to see to figure out that she will probably do it again.

Before she can slam her head into your nose, you slam it for her, into the ground. Grabbing a fistful of her hair, you pull her head back, then push forward, smashing it into the ground. Pulling it up, you hear her let out a shriek of rage before you slam her head again.

You're suddenly knocked off of her as she's able to punch you in the side of the head. The two of you get to your feet, and you see blood coming from her nose. Of course, more noticeable is the look of sheer hatred on her face. Her fists clench and unclench, and she breaths heavily, her body trembling with fury begging to be unleashed.

You get into a defensive stance again, feeling a bit less confident than you did earlier. Galda breaks into a run, rushing you as she did in the beginning of your fight. As she gets closer, you stomp on the ground in front of you, pulling a chunk of earth free.

You hurl it at her, but she slides under it and keeps coming. You hurl another, and she cartwheels to the side. You keep brining up more and more chunks of earth, hurling them at your foe, who continues to evade them. You might not be landing a hit, but you are keeping her at bay.

"ENOUGH!" your father yells.

Both you and Galda turn tour attention to him as he storms towards the two of you.

"There will be NO MORE of this," he tells you angrily.

I didn't have fun. You know why most QMs have people roll for everything? It's because shit gets done. Protag either succeeds at something or fails. You're running this like a badly made Choose Your Own Adventure book. We just spent hours on a fight that ostensibly lasted less than two minutes. Don't give us dialog trees, give the quest a solid success/failure mechanic. As a player, it sucks to get an option and have it completely turned on its head just so you give the illusion of choice.
