Sup guys. Sorry I'm late, I had stuff to do that came up. I might also have to head out to find food at some point.

IRC channel is #ngeq on Rizon

The funeral isn't an intimate affair. Every Section Two agent in NERV not on duty, and quite a few Section One and Three members are attending, as well. Four hundred thirteen souls, extinguished in one fight. That was higher than anything you'd seen inflicted on friendly forces during the Wars. The wives and children, mainly of the Asian and Continental European agents, are weeping.

So are most of the assembled Agents, or trying not to, for that matter. You're standing in the second row of the assembled Agents, near the rows and rows of graves that have been dug. There's space for the immediate families, between the graves and mass of Agents, to give them room to mourn. A mixed funeral, there were chaplains from most of the major religions in attendance.

The grave yard is quiet, save for crying spouses and kids. The man next to you was FSK, Norwegian special forces, before joining NERV.

“They always go too young.”

“Aye. Christ, but it should have been us. I'm twenty-eight. I've seen enough to last me a lifetime.”

“You're right. But that's the way it goes, isn't it? We don't bite it, and instead these poor kids do.” The bagpipes played Amazing Grace, the bugler played TAPs, and then there was a missing man formation of F-15Cs that flew over. The three volley salute is almost subdued, as though even the rifles know something has begun. The flags are folded, and presented to the families, in the case of those men with families. The coffins are lowered, and then Commander Ikari takes a podium.

"We are NERV. They are Section Two. They made the decision, when they joined, to declare war on God and His Angels. They have carried themselves with dignity, pride, and courage into battle against forces which they could not harm, and stood no chance of doing so. They acquitted themselves with honor in the face of an enemy that knows no fear.” He's quiet, like always, but he definitely seems to be speaking with conviction. Either he's an incredible actor, he believes what he's saying. You hope it's the second.

“Your bodies are frail, in comparison, to the enemy. Your minds, however, are sharp. The men we lay to rest today made the ultimate sacrifice in a battle against forces which need no rest, no food, know no fear. That will be their downfall- for while they know no fear, you do. You embrace it and marshal it and force it into courage, to stand against the Angels. In the decades to come, men will look upon your deeds with awe, for you have done that which no one else has- you purchased the Third Child time enough to arrive, and defeat the first of many enemies. You struck the first blow in a war that all humanity shall know, and which will reverberate through the years.”

Christ, but he laid it on thick. You slip out of the throngs of people as they all begin to disperse. The Third and Captain Katsuragi didn't attend. You know that because you assigned the detail watching them while the funeral took place and had them keep the Child and Captain away. You wonder if that's how you'll end up, in a coffin with a flag on top slowly lowered into the ground with no woman or child to receive the flag with three spent shells inside and to carry on your legacy.

(2/3 whoops haha)
>>
>>33207999
“Christ, do I even have a legacy?” Of violence, maybe. All you've done so far is take lives. It's with some surprise, and sadness, you realize you've finished the Scotch in your flask, and the mid-morning sun is glaring at you.

Practice. Only practice will make us good enough to stop these deaths.
>>
>>33208455
It's mid-morning and you're not drunk enough to be depressed. You took a train to the cemetery, a little bit outside of Tokyo-3, and now you take one back into town, and the Geofront. The car at the front of the train is silent, due to you being the only other occupant. You're starting to hate train rides, you think. They don't leave you time to do anything but think and sometimes you get so sick of thinking.

When the train hits the Geofront, you descend from the rail-station level and head for the canteen, where you pilfer a six-pack of some German beer. Then you go up to the shooting range, toss your cap and coat onto a table, and begin shooting targets.

It's repetitive, it's dull, but it's helping you not think about young Bronson, dead at twenty-two, liaising with a JGSDF missile battery on the outskirts of Tokyo-3. Or Casimir, from Poland, dead trying to get a platoon of Maneuver Combat Vehicles out of the Angel's way.

The beer is alcoholic enough to do it's work fairly swiftly, and after a while you're simply drinking and staring at the man-shaped targets. Even in spite of the Angels and the funeral, you're practicing on human-shaped targets, and for some reason you find that stupidly hilarious. You break out into a quiet chuckle that becomes a full-blown gale of laughter, before finally subsiding. A funeral shouldn't have caused you to react like this. Is it the number buried? You're sure you've seen that total buried before, even if not all at once.

Will they drape a NERV flag over your coffin, or a British one? Probably an Irish flag. Someone would mess up and record your nationality as Irish, not Northern Irish or British. At least they'd bury you. More than the poor sods in Monrovia got. More than Captain Thierry got. He got a bullet and an incinerator.

(1/2)
>>
>>33208821
And instead of doing something to help, you were off faffing about in the basement, having a jolly old time, before being brained in the back of the skull and threatened with being disappeared. Christ, but it's like you work for the IRA.

I don't think this kind of escapism is healthy or constructive, but I can't think of anything else to do that isn't just sleep it off.

Feeling sorry for the dead isn't going to bring them back.

As far as legacies go, as long as someone else is alive to remember them, then that's the best you can hope for.

And if we're worried about what kind of coffin we're going to end up in, then you can either plan for your own death, or realize that once you're dead it doesn't matter, so planning for your own death is a waste of your time, and akin to giving up. Despite all that's happened, Cryan hasn't given up on living yet, and I don't want that to happen now.

Continuing to live in spite of everything that's happened is the best way to honor the dead, I think.

This isn't constructive. You're too drunk to drive or fill out paper work, but you're not drunk enough to pass out. When you wake up you'll feel better, you think. Unless you wake with a massive fucking headache like you did this morning. You'll be able to accomplish something, you're certain, if you get a nap or something. Replacing the pistol and magazines you used, you grab your coat and cap with the silly green hackles your second girlfriend's cat played with, back when you dated, and take the stairs. You don't think you could handle the motion in an elevator right now, but arguably the stairs are worse. At least you don't fall and break your fucking neck, you decide darkly. That wouldn't do anyone any favors.

When you reach your room, you hang your dress uniform up and slip into your pajamas, then collapse onto your bed. It feels like someone is embracing you, briefly and you wonder wh

>Breakfast and then review Thierry's case file.

Breakfast first, you decide while you dress. Pistol, magazines, keys, wallet, phone. You take the stairs down to the cafeteria and grab whatever you can get your hands on, before heading back up to your cubicle. You can get Smith to take the dishes away, you decide.

When you settle in at your desk, now bearing a cup of coffee as well, you pull up Thierry's case file on your computer. It's an attachment to an email sent from the new Captain to all Section Two Agents and operatives. The email is, mercifully, brief.

“All agents, be advised Captain Thierry was the mole. He has been arrested and executed. All investigations may cease.” You bite into a bearclaw, chew, swallow, and take a sip of coffee as you lean back. Perhaps the attachment will offer more insight?

You open it up, and begin reading. Put simply, it states that the GRU abducted Thierry's daughter in France, and, in exchange for information he provided them, kept her safe and healthy. Understandable, you decide. But what made the GRU pick Thierry? And why were you just now learning Thierry had a daughter? Were they estranged? Did he not have contact with her due to her mother? Lots of different things that could be at play, here, and something doesn't smell quite right.

You finish the bear claw and move on to the apple you brought up with you from the cafeteria. That's... Thierry never mentioning a daughter? Ever? Odd. You pull up Thierry's personnel file. Single, dedicated utterly to France and revenging her dead in Second Impact against the Angels, former officer in the Foreign Legion and French special commandos... Like you, you realize, except older and French.

(1/2)
>>
The perosnnel file doesn't list any family at all, save for his parents and a single brother, all deceased during Second Impact, when a boat they were on capsized.

“What the fuck is going on here? What the fuck is GRU doing? How was Thierry a mole?” You can't answer the first, but if you had to guess, GRU is trying to look after Russia's interests first, mankind's second. For that alone you can't agree with them. You saw enough factional fighting to last a lifetime. Main Intelligence Directorate continuing feuds just for the Hell of it doesn't make sense.

You need a break from the issue of Thierry, you decide. Filling out the proper paperwork regarding Section Two, and therefore NERV's, acquisition of two houses just outside of Tokyo-3 helps take your brain off the issue of Thierry.

Reason for Acquisition: Greater security of ass--

Thierry was never the mole. He was a scapegoat the mole used to protect himself.

Since Gendo had Thierry personally executed (a bit out-of-character, honestly), I imagine Gendo or Subcommander need to be told immediately.

We're assigned to security detail to the Children. If the mole thinks he got away with it, by the time we take it to Gendo and have him do whatever, the Mole gets more chances to act on kidnapping the Children.

It's like saying "hey Gendo, the mole is still at large!" and then Gendo goes "ok, how about them Children?" and then we don't know because we're too busy chasing loose ends.

“Jaysis fookin' Christ.” You chug the rest of your coffee and turn off your computer, then stand. You know where you need to go to make this phone call. The fortress of solitude all men possess, but which none truly own: The toilet. You don't have to kick anyone out, so to provide some semblance of security, you turn all the water taps on and barricade the door, then lock yourself into the biggest stall, and dial your phone.

“Special Agent Cryan. This is unexpected. How'd the funeral go, sir?”

“No time for that, Agent Toranada. How are the Children?”

“Fine, sir. Is everything okay?”

“Yes, everything is fine, perfectly A-okay. Tell the blend teams to be ready to go active at the slightest hint something's wrong.”

“Affirmative, sir. Are you alright?”

“No, I need a bloody drink and it's not even four in the fucking afternoon.” You hang up and slip out of the stall. Turning off all the water faucets, you check your pistol. Commander Ikari is out of town, something about a budgetary meeting with the Japanese Diet. Subcommander Fuyutsuki will be at the Command Center. You head there with all possible haste while doing your best to maintain that nothing's wrong.

It works, as you're not shot in the back and Section One doesn't bother you, the cunts. You go over who could be the mole. Really, anyone, except for Thierry. He's dead. The new Captain, Smith, anyone. Including you, to everyone else, you realize. Christ, they might even think you're an Irish Republican Army plant, if it comes to it.

(1/2)

You emerge out into the Command Center to find a synch test being conducted on the Third. He can't see you, so you don't bother to greet him. Captain Katsuragi waves tentatively at you, and you wave back, before exchanging nods with Dr. Akagi. The bridge crew all ignore you, but the Subcommander acknowledges your existence.

“Special Agent Cryan.”

“Sir. I've found information that's led me to believe Section Two might still be compromised.” You inform him of your findings, and his face goes cold.

“You're not the mole, Cryan, I know that much. For all your misguided curiosity, you're loyal to a fault. You'd rather die than see the Children harmed, I think. No, you can't be the mole. You've assembled a team for when the Second and Fourth arrive?”

“Yes sir, I have. Mainly men loyal to myself or NERV itself, not either of the Captains or Commander, bu-”

“Understandable. If they're loyal to you, be sure you don't misplace your own loyalty. Begin replacing the Children's current details as soon as you leave here. If they attempt to resist, eliminate them. The fate of all Earth and humanity rests upon the shoulders of these children, Agent Cryan. Dismissed.”

You snap to attention and salute, then spin on your heel and leave.

You take off running as soon as you're out of the Command Center and call Captain Katsuragi. When she picks up, she's annoyed at having the synch test interrupted. You yell over her until she shuts up.

“Misato. Don't let anyone from Section Two near Shinji until I tell you we're clear. Are you armed?”

“Yes? Why, what's going on?”

“Good. Trust no one but the Commander and Subcommander.” You hang up and hit the motor pool. The Aston-Martin is gassed up and ready to go, and you don't know if Ayanami will need a ride or not. You hood slide across the hood and slip into it. It kicks to life with a roar, and you peel out of NERV at speed, not bothering with your seat belt.

Tokyo-3 is thankfully not quite full of congestion and traffic like Beijing or London would have been, and you make decent time to the distasteful apartment Ayanami lives in. You park the car, draw your pistol, and kick open the door to the complex's lobby, letting yourself in. It's empty. Praying to yourself, even if Second Impact and the Angels' renewed assault upon the Earth has proven beyond a doubt the God you once believed in is at least ignoring His children, you throw yourself up the stairs to Ayanami's apartment, checking corners and kicking doors open even as you do, even if it's time intensive.

(1/2)

Sorry about that, guys. Somebody got fired from work and it took me a little bit to wrangle tomorrow morning's shift that I was originally scheduled to work but gave up to run tonight.
>>
>>33212942
You don't want shot in the back. That would be bad. The apartment building is shitty, but then, you knew that. You'd read the reports. What you don't understand is why Commander Ikari would have Ayanami live like this, if she's as related to his deceased wife as the rumors say. It's none of your business if the Commander wants to look after his wife's cousin, but you think it's the right thing to do.

Lot of that going on post Second Impact and the Wars, really. Ayanami's door is closed. Taking the knob in your hand, you gently slide the door open, CZ-85 going first. Ayanami's apartment is a mess, and while you're no neat freak yourself, you don't know how she stands to live this way. You clear her bedroom and living room, and the little attached kitchenette, before hearing the shower running from the bathroom. Settling back onto your heels, you holster the pistol and turn to face the door.

“Agent Cryan.” She's emerged from the bathroom, then.

>Tell Ayanami what's going on and to dress, you're taking her out for ice-cream while your team moves in on her current detail.

“Miss Ayanami, dress. Your Section Two detail might be compromised. I don't know they let that Beria prick get close to you, and they shouldn't have let me get this close to you, but something's wrong. We're going out for ice cream.”

The rustle of feet and clothing indicates she's following your orders. You don't know when you'll be returning her, so you dump her school bag on the bed and pack it with clothing and her medicine for her. She stares at you as she's wont to do, then silently follows you to the lobby. Looking around outside, you can't see any snipers or gunmen, but if they don't want to be seen they won't.

Grabbing her by the shoulder, you pull her into your side, where she'll be covered from most directions by your body and the armor you're wearing. Taking a deep breath, you step outside and begin the run to the Aston Martin.

The bullet slams into your gut with the fury of all the angry mules in existence, and the breath is forced from your lungs by the impact. Sucking down a ragged breath, you force yourself to keep running. You don't hear a report from the rifle, and the enemy's got to have a silenced rifle.

You shove Ayanami into the car. “Get below the window, so they can't see you,” you force out, and then you're using the car's body as cover to get to the driver's side. Another shot slams into the ground beside you as you scramble to pull yourself into the automobile. The engine turns on and you scream out of the parking lot, looking for any likely spots for snipers.

Everywhere, basically. Swearing and panting, you at least get away from the apartment complexes and pull over onto a side road.

(1/2)
>>
You get out of your coat and undo the buttons on your shirt, to get a look at the Kevlar you're wearing. It's done it's job and kept you alive, but that's probably a cracked rib at least. If the sniper had used something bigger than 7.62x39mm, you might not be alive any more.

“Fuck. Jaysis fuck.” You reach into your pocket and pull out your cellphone, where you dial the number two man for the detail you assembled for the Children. “Torstigg? Yeah, it's Cryan.”

“What is happening, Cryan?”

“I need you to get the guys together and inform the First and Third's details they're off the job. If they resist, take 'em out.”

“Fuck, Cryan, are you sure?”

“Positive, Torstigg. Make your move. Meet Ayanami and myself at, uh, fuck- Tokyo-3 Middle.” Torstigg is former FSK from Norway, and a solidly dependable man. You've operated with him before, with the SAS, back in '08, outside Paris.

“Affirmative, Cryan. Torstigg out.” He hangs up and so do you, before you fall back against the seat, sweating. Did the sniper get a second shot off into you? Can you not feel it because of the pain from your gut and the adrenaline?

“Agent Cryan, you are bleeding.” You look at Ayanami, your eyes slightly unfocused, and for a half a heartbeat she almost sounds like your mother.

“What?” You ask stupidly.

“Bleeding. Your arm.” You look down and see she's right, and then the pain hits again, red fire burning in the fleshy part of your left arm. Judging from the bandages she's wearing, she's at least familiar with placing them on herself, if not on someone else.

>Have her bandage your arm. An extra set of hands is nice.

“Ayanami, bandage my arm. I've got to get us to the rendezvous with my men.” You turn the ignition back on and pull off the side street and onto the main road once more. You're taken by surprise, however, when she begins trying to climb into your lap.

“What are you doing?” You're doing your best to keep calm, but between the gunshot wound and Ayanami trying to climb on top of you, it's a hard-pressed struggle.

“Attempting to bandage your arm.” Oh. Sheepishly, you shove your left arm across your chest, so she can get at it without draping herself across you. She rips up your coat into strips and begins wrapping them around your arm, which makes driving awkward, but manageable.

Finally, she finishes, and leans back into her own seat, and buckles the belt. You haven't gotten a call from Torstigg, but now that your arm is bandaged, you can drive with one hand and call the Subcommander with the other.

“Agent Cryan, it had better be good news. Quite a lot rides on these Children. Your men engaged the Third's detail in front of him and have left him severely traumatized. He might not be able to pilot anymore. If this is the case, rest assured, we will have your skin.”

“Good and bad, sir. I've been engaged by the enemy, but I have the First with me. I've given orders for my man to meet me at Tokyo-3 Middle School. I'm headed back for the Geofront right now.”

“Acceptable. Captain Katsuragi is talking to the Third now, but a psychologist would be nice.”

“Sir, I'm not exactly the best candidate for talking to the Third. I'm a lousy drunk with a quick trigger finger. I'd probably wind up prescribing him alcohol.”
>>
“Be that as it may. We'll discuss this later.”

“Yes sir. Agent Cryan out.” You both hang up, and you're about to turn off for the Geofront when you notice you're being tailed by a van.

>Turn off anyways and call it in.

You make the turn anyway, and dial Section Two's Quick Reaction Force. The van follows you, and the side door slides open. A balaclava-clad man leans out with a Kalashnikov of some sort, and begins firing low, probably aiming for your tires. The phone rings, and rings, and rings, before finally someone picks up.

“This is Special Agent Cryan, Section Two. I am en route to the Geofront with hostiles on my rear.” A bullet hits the rear windshield and cracks it. Swearing, you switch the phone to speaker and draw your pistol. Weaving around a sedately rolling economy car, the van follows you, but with less skill. Leveling your pistol at the van, you begin firing, wishing you had some kind of ear protection for Ayanami. She doesn't appear fazed at all.

“So, you're telling me you're leading hostiles to the Geofront while in a gun fight with them. Is this correct, Special Agent Cryan?”

“For the love of fuck, yes, it is! I don't have time to play grab ass with you fucking cunts! Either tell me you'll help or tell me you won't, I could be shooting these bastards!”

“Don't get your panties in a wad, jeez.”

“I'll get my panties in a fucking wad right after I shove a fucking fist down your throat, you goddamned piece of bureaucratic cock-sucking shit!” Ayanami looks at you like you've grown a second head as you try to reload the pistol with one hand on the steering wheel and the other holding the pistol.

“All right, all right, I've kicked your request for support up to my supervisor.” You finally manage to reload the pistol, and begin firing at the van again.

>Offensively aggressive driving go

“I am sick and mother fucking tired of this mother fucking van on my mother fucking roadway,” you declare to Ayanami and the cunt on the other end of your phone.

“Agent, what are you doing?”

“What I should have done to begin with. Ayanami, here.” You shove the pistol at her and she scrabbles for it for a moment, before finally figuring out how to hold it. Reaching behind your seat, you retrieve the HK-417 and chest rig in the back of the Aston-Martin, and shove the chest rig at Ayanmi. You're feeling a headache coming on, but you ignore it for now.

“Reload for me when I tell you to.” She nods, and you turn the battle rifle onto the van. You flip the selector switch from 'safe', past 'semi-auto', all the way to 'full-auto'. And then you pull the trigger. The recoil is wild, it's 7.62 NATO, of course it's wild. The van swerves wildly to the side to avoid the spray of fire, and you brake hard.

The van's suddenly next to you. You drop the HK and yank the pistol from Ayanami's hands, and look the man with the Kalashnikov in the eyes. Then you wink at him, and splatter his chest across the inside of the van. Speeding up to where you're level with the driver's compartment, you shoot through the passenger door, sending the van careening wildly into a sound-proof wall, driver dead.

“Yes! Did you see how awesome that was!”

“Yes.”

“Yes? Yes? That was fucking great! They don't teach that shit in defensive driving courses! Fucking off the top of my head, did you see how wrecked those cunts got? I am king! King of the road, dear Jesus YES!”

You pull into the motor pool and almost high-five yourself. Almost.

True, but in Rei's case she's got this affinity for tackling relationships by thickheaded. She just doesn't have that fear of failure and betrayal imprinted on her, so she can move on.

Rei is like a child that's no longer a child, which is a crime really, but what can we do?

Think of her like a more stoic version of Mathilda from Leon - The Professional with secret superpowers.

>>33215238
We don't know that, in fact we don't know anything. If we break the 4th wall ourselves right now.... then yeah.

All we would need to do is to explain to Rei that SHE'S GOT THAT POWAH, and that she CAN make a change with what she's got. Like imagine the endgame, and if it follows the same route, if she gave THA POWAH to us instead of Shinji "I wanna die" Ikari.

Scoring points with Rei is a good way to endgame victory, granted that we ourselves don't get screwed.

So let's just do our best in our job, rather than think of that stuff, which right now is to survive and secure ourselves from hidden bigger players.

>Keep on with the stairs.

“Here.” You hand Ayanami her bag and keep on with the stairs. The slog is arduous. The slog is nothing compared to Endurance, for final selection into the SAS. That left you a quivering mass of pain, but by God you succeeded. Swallowing back the little bitch tears you definitely don't feel threatening to come on, you force yourself ever downwards. And you'll take the elevator next time. The elevator definitely sounds wonderful.

When you emerge into the Cages, the janitorial staff is cleaning up three corpses, and Torstigg is being bellowed at by Captain Katsuragi. Poor bastard. You wouldn't wish that on anyone. Katsuragi leaves, fuming, and you presume to go talk to Shinji.

“Torstigg.”

“Sir.” It feels good to be on this end of the 'sir' business, even if you're responsible and shit now.

“What in the FUCKING LOVE OF FUCK made you think it was a good FUCKING IDEA to kill THREE FUCKING MEN in front of the FUCKING THIRD?!”

“You said make our move, si-”

“USE YOUR FUCKING BRAIN, TORSTIGG, WE'RE INTELLIGENCE AGENTS NOW! WE'RE NOT OPERATORS ANY MORE! Intelligence was a CRITERIA for SELECTION! Just- the STUPIDITY!”

“You're one to talk, sir. Does the Russian Embassy ring a bell, you fucking prick, with your Irish fucking accent, and your 'I'm so fucking great, SAS and Royal Irish Regiment?'”

“Torstigg I swear to fucking Christ if you ever do this kind of fucking shit again I will drag you out of bed in the middle of the fucking night and shoot you myself you silly fucking cunt. Ignoring my own fuck-ups and issues, I'm the one stuck doing PAPERWORK! Where's Ikari the younger?”

“Christ, Special Agent Cryan, why didn't you say so? Ikari the younger is ensconced in his Evangelion unit, and you've got Ayanami getting in her own right now, so they should be safe.”

“Goddamn, I wish I had the fucking Fourth and Second here for this shit. Fucking Russians. Anyway, get your Agents in defensive positions. I need a medic, too. By the way.” Torstigg takes a look at you and then he's yelling for a medic and the ground rushes up to meet you.

You wake from a nightmare taking place in Rio de Janiero and smelling like your mother with hands twitching for a rifle that isn't there.

“Welcome back to the land of living, Special Agent.” Fuck. It's Commander Ikari and Subcommander Fuyutsuki. The Subcommander speaks, as always.

“Sirs.”

“We saw your stunt in the Aston-Martin with the Toyota van on the road. Well-planned.”

“Thank you, sir.”

“You appear to have managed to plugged all leaks in Section Two in a permanent fashion. Well executed.”

“Thank you, sir.” You don't ask why their own investigation didn't do so. Down that path lies death and dismemberment, and not necessarily in that order.

“The Fourth Angel appeared. The Third Child successfully defeated it. When queried about his idea of playing dead to lure it closer, he merely said we should ask you.”

“Paintball, sirs. I demonstrated that achieving victory is worth taking casualties over. We lured the enemy team into assaulting our position while a fifth man went through the trees and seized their flag. ”

“I see. Your injuries weren't as extensive as the First lead us to believe in her report. Cracked rib, winged arm, and you're developing liver damage. The doctor suggested you cut back on the drinking, something about enough alcohol to drown a fish?”

We should consider cutting down on the drink. Granted, we can never give it up; that'd be a sin again our now gone motherland, but being sober might make us realize these plots before they develop.

>>
“Honestly, I don't expect to live long enough for it to be a problem. But,” you allow, “I'll consider it. How are the Children, sirs?”

“The Third has come to terms with the fact that in the pursuit of the defense of humanity, sometimes bad things happen to bad people trying to sabotage that defense. The First never had a problem with it to begin with.”

Huh. Well, as long as the kids were doing okay. “Captain Katsuragi took the opportunity to show the Third some of your service record.” Well, if there's any way to ruin a budding mentoring relationship with the Third, that's it.

“He has expressed interest in continuing to meet with you, as expressed by his visitation of you during your stay.”

“How long was I out, sir?”

“Two weeks, six days, sixteen hours, and seventeen minutes, I believe it was.”

“Why'd they keep me out so long?”

“The doctor attempted to reverse some of the damage done to your liver. He believed he was successful, but if you continue to drink alcohol like a fish does water, that will quickly turn itself around.”

“Affirmative.” They both leave, and as soon as they're gone you do your best to spring out of the bed, where you shower and dress swiftly.

>Find the Third. Three weeks without your wonderful advice is a long time.

The dreaded enemy can wait. For now, there is a fourteen year old boy in Tokyo-3 that hasn't learned how to drink alcohol properly. That's got to change. You escape the hospital. Someone thoughtfully reloaded your pistol and magazines for you. You check the time on your watch. 1535 hours. Early enough!

Your escape from the Geofront and your most hated enemy, paperwork, is wonderfully non-exciting. The train ride to Captain Katsuragi's place is acceptably brief, even if it does smell oddly like chocolate chip cookies. You get off a station early, find a liquor store, and retrieve a fifteen year Scotch. You're not going to guzzle this like you usually do, you decide. This is for you and the Third, to celebrate his hard-earned victories.

When you knock on Captain Katsuragi's door, she takes in your appearance- unshaven, jeans and long-sleeve t-shirt, before shaking her head.

“What's wrong?”

“Shinji's disappeared,” she says quietly. She looks like she's about to cry. You've never been good with crying women.

I understand how you feel, but I feel like humans are inherently creatures that instinctively gravitate towards sexual relations. If Cryan is around women he will gravitate towards sexual relations, if /tg/ has a quest the protaganist will gravitate towards sexual relations.

All humans, real or fake, should generally gravitate towards sexual relations.

Such is the nature of the cosmos.

That's why if you lock a normal man and a women in a room together for any significant period of time, they WILL fuck.

There was never a question about whether or not we would try to waifu, only a question about who.

“Look,” you tell her. “We'll find Shinji, no problem. He can't have gotten far.” You place the Scotch on top of Katsuragi's fridge, with a stern warning to the penguin not to touch your good fucking booze or you'll cut his fucking flippers off, penguin buddy or not. He retreats to his freezer and Captain Katsuragi glares at you.

“What,” you say defensively. “It's for the Third and myself to share. I owe him multiple drinks.” Taking out your phone, you dial Torstigg.

“I swear to fucking Commander Ikari, Torstigg, if you've fucking lost the Third-”

“Relax, Special Agent. We're tailing him right now.”

“And is he DEPRESSED?”

“Yes? He looked like he wanted some room.”

“For fuck's sake,” you sputter. “Where is he?”

“Just north of Tokyo-3. Near a cliff. Looks pretty spooky, act-”

“JAYSIS FOOKIN' CHRIST, TORSTIGG, I SWEAR TO FUCKING-” Katsuragi fishes the phone from your grip and hangs up.

“Enough,” she tells you. “My so- Er, the Third is out there alone doing who knows what.”

“Yeah, I called his detail. You get to drive. He's north of Tokyo-3.”

“If he's where I think he is, I'm going to castrate your man and then yourself, slowly.”

“Jaysis fookin' Christ,” you whisper as she leads you to her car. And she drives worse than you do. That's saying something, considering you try to drive like you're in the Ulster Loyalist Force and you've got IRA rebels on your tail.

You're more concerned for your manhood than your life, at this point, as she careens around a corner on one wheel, drinking from a beer the whole time. You cross yourself quietly and hope she doesn't take your balls off in a car crash.

Also: we still owe rei some ice cream.
>>
>>33219344
that has to be one of the artful ways of saying "people want waifus"

>>33219436
Just don't do it at the expense of the story.

>Join them.

You light a cigarette. Doc said you needed to cut back on the drinking, he didn't say anything about cigarettes. Torstigg is standing next to you. You offer it to him after your first puff, and he takes it gratefully.

“Well done on keeping him in sight. He can be slippery if he wants. He'd probably make a good field agent.”

“Right. Thanks for not castrating me for letting him show up here.”

“Don't thank me yet, Captain Katsuragi might still do so.”

“Good God.” You leave him with the cigarette and that pleasant thought, before strolling casually up to the hugging woman and boy. Feeling awkward and out of place, you drop a hand onto Shinji's shoulder, and move to wrap your arm around him. He stiffens slightly, and you draw back.

“I read the after action report on the Fourth.” You've done no such thing, but you figure you'll do it soon enough to not matter.

He looks up at you hopefully from Misato's generous tracts of land, and you grin at him.

“Well done. There's a treat for you at the Captain's place..

“Really, Special Agent. I insist you call me Misato.”

“Declan, please, if you're to be Misato.” She nods and Shinji blushes. Ruffling his hair, you grin at him again.

“How about ice cream with Ayanami tomorrow, eh? I owe her from three weeks ago- still hard to believe I was out that long, Christ,-” His response comes in the affirmative.

“After school,” you add judiciously. “Your grades are important to your future. You won't always be defending humanity from monstrosities hell-bent on our destruction. They've gotta die sometime.”

“R-right.”

“All right, that's enough of that. Declan, you're riding bitch.” You know enough about women, and life in general, to know a losing fight when you see one. But thankfully for her she doesn't know about how Torstigg kept up with Third.

“No thanks. I've got alternative transport.” She shrugs, they get in the car, and drive off. You turn to Torstigg.

“Have you got it?” He nods, and whips a tarp off of your love. An Indian Chief Classic.

psh, so you can prepare? Yeah right, as if. Good thread, though, came in a bit late because muh fucked sleep schedule (went to bed at 7am, woke up at ~2:30, ow.) I really want to see what you have planned for Nevada and what you're going to do concerning the mole, that looks like it'll be fun.
>>
>>33220229
Thanks for participating.

Next thread might be tomorrow night, depending on when I get in from work. I'll let everyone know on the Twitter: https://twitter.com/LoverofTang

If it's not tomorrow night, it'll definitely be Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 CST at the latest.
>>

I know /tg/ are notorious for throwing quests off rails and starting wild rides; what level of degeneracy are we at with your original plans?

Can we really a lilith?

Thank you for running an excellent quest.

Good thread man, thanks for running.
>>
>>33220199
How much secret bullshit did they fill our innards with during those two weeks?
>>
>>33220250
I like being prepared. Nevada's a secret, shhh. C'mon. Mole's dead. Right? RIGHT?

>>33220264
Who said I had plans other than "Section Two agent trying not to die?"

Yes, you can really a Lilith. Yes, you can really a Shinji, too, if you want and can get everyone on board with it.

Thank you helping make it an excellent quest.

He's probably thinking experimental tech shit. And/or a small remote explosive.

Iron Man has iron stuff OUTSIDE him.

I'm pulling for Asuka but if you guys decide on someone else I'm not going to be a bitch about it.

Remote control explosives? Nah, those only work inside someone in the movies. Right? RIGHT?

We were out for nearly three weeks for a broken rib and a grazed arm. These injuries are not extensive.

A NERV "doctor" tried to "reverse" the damage to our "liver." The only way that can happen is spacefuture magic medicine, a liver transplant (7 to 14 days recovery time), or NERV bullshit.

I'm going to place my bets on NERV bullshit, and suspect that during those three weeks we had some procedures that did not involve the health of our liver. I'm wondering what those procedures left. Cybernetic parts? Explosives? Tracking devices? Adam? Spare parts from Rei clones?
>>
>>33220406
You're waifu a shit.
>>
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=tangfag Archive there, don't forget to vote! You make my day when I see I'm internet popular!

>>33220434
Tracking devices are likely. Explosives maybe. You've never actually asked for a catalog of injuries sustained during the Wars, either, have you? Might could be quite a few bits of shrapnel or bullets still in there, you know.

>>33220436
I know. Don't hold it against the quest though.
>>
>>33220498
Are cybernetics a thing in the setting?
>>
>>33220512
Well, considering we've got quite realistic prosthesis and what not in real life, with artificial vaginas and using pigs to grow human organs?

With NERV's access to the Evangelions?

Yes.
>>
>>33215075
On the national level, yes it is 13. But that's not what holds weight, it's the prefectures. Which is usually at 16-18.

Oh christ on a stick. As much as I love Shinji and think he's cute I'd much rather have him with someone his age. That said, I can easily see him being that desperate for affection.
