You are Zhu Xing, from the city of Xu Chang. You've defeated Wang Lang's army and have driven him back to Hui Ji. Most of his territory is taken, and it is only time before you can take the city.

It is Fall, and the harvests are gathered as most of Wang Lang's territory is taken. With more troops coming to your side and a good harvest this year, you take a day of rest and celebration for your men. Your men and soldiers throw a feast outside of town and you have the day to yourself before you move out.

I don't think we can go wrong here.

Lingqi would be useful since we do want to get as much of it done while we are against scrub tier enemies and not the Sun Clan.

Building support among the people is always important, same for military although they already have a reason to like and respect us.

Song Xian? Scrub officer can wait until Wang Lang's head is mounted on the city walls.

>>
Gentlemen, been watching the 2010 Three Kingdoms again.

I have an idea to attack the city before we even do so.

There must be some traffic still going in and out of the city right now as its not fully under siege.

We Post flyers and town criers in the major intersections before the city so that news can travel into it, we might also attempt to infiltrate saboteurs inside.

We announce our intention to march upon the city and lay siege to it later in fall.

We will march with full force of our might, that Lu Bu has taken the head of the bandit leaders and is marching to reinforce.

Victory is no longer in doubt, all that remains is how long it takes and how many people die and suffer.

We call upon Wang Lang to capitulate and surrender. We will guarantee his safety and he will be able to retire in peace. In doing so, he saves countless soldiers and townsfolk from suffering and death in the siege.

We also call upon any soldiers or leaders of the city, should Wang Lang refuse to surrender to us. We call upon them to capture or kill Wang Lang and present the city to us. Wealth and a high position will be offered to those involved and all soldiers will be pardoned and still allowed to return to their homes.

We attack him mentally before we even do so. He'll be cornered by his leaders to accept surrender and he'll have to keep looking over his shoulder in case of betrayal.

A few months of this will fuck with him.

Lingqi has done exceptionally well in the last battle, killing the enemy general Zhou Xin and having led the cavalry together with you to rout the enemy. And as ever, you find yourself infatuated with the girl for better or worse. You decide to take the time to see her.

You move around the camp as soldiers are eating merrily and laughing in mirth. The smell of stew and beef is heavy in the air and all around the camp you can see the fumes of food rising in the air. Morale is certainly high around the camp.

One of the soldiers sitting around a fire gets up to greet you, and when you ask where Lingqi is, he informs you that she in her tent eating alone.

"Err... General, no one is allowed ten feet near of Lady Lingqi's tent. With all due respect, perhaps you should stay away to not anger her."

You scoff with a wave of your hand. You're the commanding general here. You find Lingqi's tent, an announce your presence as you walk inside moving the flaps of the tent.

"Lingqi h-"

A chopsticks comes flying forward and hits you squarely on the head with a thud. You wince slightly in pain with a hand on your forehead.

"I specifically ordered no one comes near my place of rest."

You look at Lingqi, who is eating a small meal on her table. She is still in her black-clad armor, and her halberd is set aside near her bed. Her frows are burrowed and she looks at you with a frown.

"What do you want?"

>I wanted to congratulate you for the last battle.

I'm not that guy, but as is, it's harvest season and fall. If we fight over the winter, it's likely going to end badly for us.

I say we secure the lands around the place, cut off supply lines, and try to damage their supplies and warehouses. It may demoralize the enemy and have the peasants inside try to get out so they don't starve to death during the winter.

How cold are Southern China/Wu territories during winter?

Fighting during winter is never a good thing, but we could have more time for campaigning since we aren't in Northern China.
>>
>>33411847

It's already been said that their supplies are sufficient to last for a year, even if we siege them. Also if you read last thread, all the land has been secured, save for the city.

When we siege, its either to pin them for a year or a quick campaign to conquer the city within 3 months or so.

>>33411591 This seems like a decent low cost move now to make.

When the siege comes, I'm hesitant on using fire, due to the damage to the populace and the people.

"You did exceptionally well in the last battle. Even killed an enemy general," you say with a smile, coming over to the table. "I just wanted to congratulate you."

Lingqi frowns even more, placing an elbow on the table and leaning her chin against her hand with legs crossed.

"Oh really? You couldn't have done it in another time? You had to come here for that?"

"Surely. Lord Lu Bu will be pleased once I inform him. And I must keep the praises separate from work, lest the other generals grown jealous."

Lingqi sighs slightly, though she is appeased.

"Well, have a seat since you're here. I was just thinking I had too much food here anyway."

You chuckle at her remarks, and take a seat opposite of her as offered. The food on the table is simple; some seasoned vegetables and a pot of rice and cooked meat as the main dishes. Lingqi casually goes back to eating her food, her legs still crossed and not caring much for table manners as is expected of women in these lands. You pour yourself a drink first.

Is it even a good idea to siege during winter? It's going to be cold and while the enemy is huddled up where it's warm, our troops are going to be freezing. There's a reason why no one fought wars during winter. Since we've failed in getting popular support, we should avoid doing things that'll make us unpopular towards our own troops.

The plan was to start the siege in the fall, so probably sometime soon.

We'll have a few months to attack but after that we still need to mantain the siege inorder to starve them.

>>
>>33412131
>>Why do you eat alone?
Let's give this a shot.
>>
>>33412257

Yes and thats exactly why we need to siege to make sure they can't receive supplies on the sly.

Starving them out will take a year so we best get started.
>>
>>33412140

We aren't in the northern plains anymore. Winter isn't as severe down in the south.

The Battle of Changban was in October and Red Cliffs was in the winter. It obviously didn't end well for Cao Cao but that indicates that Winter campaigns are possible, though not ideal.

However, if psychological warfare and ploys don't work, I'd favor an attack on the city so we can consolidate our gains.
>>
>>33412140
The rest of China isn't going to wait. Here in Yangzhou the winters should be mild, and since we control the countryside our supply lines will remain secure. Since our morale is high is Wang Lang was never popular in the first place, there is little risk of revolt.
>>
>>33412131
>>Why do you eat alone?
Philosophical debate?
>>
>>33412131
>Why do you eat alone?
"Fengxian eats together, and he eats merrily, he adores the praise of his generals and friends."
"But you like to eat alone, Lu Lingqi, may I ask why?"
>>
>>33412298

The main problem is the damage to the city and her population.

I wonder if we should hold back on using fire and siege weaponry indiscriminately.

Either that or we allow safe passage for civilians to flee through our lines.
>>
>>33412294
>>33412298

Remember that Yuan Shu's likely our next enemy.

The Sun clan is popular in the south and they are with Yuan Shu. We need these territories quickly so we can start making them ours.

Taking out Wang Lang quickly is ideal here, even if it costs us more soldiers than the alternative.
>>
>>33412241
We have this in the bag long term though as long as no one else tries to attack us.

We control all of the territories surrounding Wang Lang. We should probably focus on fortifying our lands. Minimize losses so we can defend the land we just conquered. We can afford to be patient. Besides if we wait long enough Lu Bu-Senpai might come back after his own conquest and reinforce us and we can take the city easy.
>>
>>33412294
Alright that makes sense. I was thinking that it'd be cold enough that the rivers would freeze
>>
>>33412348

Speed however is of the essence, considering our position with Yuan Shao and Sun Ce.

Well I'm not surprised, but I had some small hope that /tg/ could actually play an MC as anything but retarded. On the upside at least RoTK was filled with awesome guys doing dumb shit and suffering the consequences for it. So at least Zhu Xin fits in.

He's also likely to have more Yuan soldiers back him since Lu Bu is a much bigger threat now.

I think I posted in another thread about Sun Ce's likely generals: Zhou Yu, Lu Fan, Cheng Pu, Huang Gai, Zhou Tai, Han Deng.

Fortunately, Lu Bu can solo any of these generals in combat and so can Zhang Liao, Taishi Ci, and even us for the most part.

Duels won't matter much when we're pitted against some of Wu's future top commanders and Zhou Yu's intellect. Chen Gong's a decent strategist, but he's not a match for Zhou Yu.

I predict Sun Ce/Yuan Shu will be our major enemy for most of this quest, with Cao Cao the endgame. We already need to consider:

>No Lu Bu attacking Puyang means Cao Cao has no distractions while attacking Xu Province
>Assuming Liu Bei still wins, no Lu Bu to backstab him as he faces off against Yuan Shu, but that also means the province is unguarded against Cao Cao

"Everyone is enjoying themselves today and feasting together. Why do you eat alone here?" you ask taking a sip from your cup.

"None of your business," Lingqi says with a scowl.

"Hah, fair enough," you reply. "But all the others generals and I consider you an equal and a comrade in our force. We worry for you, and hope that you can place your trust in us as we do for you. If there is anything troubling you, feel free to consult me."

Lingqi slightly grumbles. From the expression on her face, you can tell she wants to say something but refrains from doing so. It seems your relationship and ability to talk is not on level enough for the girl to open up. You only chat a bit here and there before leaving Lingqi alone.

----------------------------------------

The next day arrives and your men are in good spirits. In a few more months, Winter will come which will make it harder to take Hui Ji. With the city surrounded, you have the option of starving them out; though the city can last another year before running out of supplies. You are however a general that has been tasked with taking the Southlands as soon as possible, and you may feel like taking the city more quickly by fighting. What do you choose to do?

>Attack Hui Ji
>Starve the city out
>Call for a council and ask the opinions of the other generals
>>
>>33412624

Yup, that's why I talked about the experience and intelligence of their generals.

Cheng Pu, Huang Gai, Lu Fan, and Sun Ce are all fairly intelligent generals.

Zhang Liao and our MC (basically Cao Ren) are their matches, but who else?

Gao Shun is a superb cavalry general, but a bit of a specialist. Taishi Ci is an awesome warrior, but how good was he as a general? (Real question, not rhetorical)

Lingqi, Lu Bu, and the 4 Lts are basically trash when it comes to strategy and tactics.

We really need to acquire additional strategists. Yu Fan, Lu Su, and other Wu advisers would be nice.
>>
So I've started reading the novel, turns out Diaochan is the same age as Lu Linqi is in this quest...

I have no problem with pursuing Lu Linqi in principle. I just wish people would save courting her for after we've actually gotten some significant victories and proven ourselves a capable leader and warrior to the other major players in the faction. We get by on being Lu Bu's trusted friend, but we haven't done much to solidify the loyalty of anyone (troops, peasants, ministers etc) that we work with and instead spend our time chasing after a girl who would probably be more receptive after we've kicked a bit more ass and proven ourselves competent.

Yeah, the biggest problem here is that we're trying to 'make sure we have an heir', but our position is very shaky and could collapse at any moment. We can worry about marriage when our lands are stable and secure, not when we hold a single city and outlying villages and are surrounded by enemies.

I was actually re-reading the quest last week and tried to look at our MC's battle record.

Zhu Xing has been a fairly good general so far.

His last defeat was at Chang'an, which we all remember, but he's won all his victories since then. He also took top credits for the letter ploy, and his successful southern campaign so far.

Zhu Xing has been very good when it comes to open field battles, but he's incredibly cautious when the enemy holds favorable defensive terrain.

It's worked out well for him in some ways, and poorly in others.

Overall, he's done pretty good so far.
>>
>>33412798

A 'mop up' that takes year. Troops of at least 4-6k and the final enemy general in a fortified city.

That is no mop up, this is a last boss.
>>
>>33412724
Yu Fan will be a bit tricky, as he was a direct and abrasive person, he might get along poorly with Lu Bu. Lu Su will also be difficult to find, he was just living on a farm when Zhou Yu came upon him. We'll need a lot of luck and some negotiating to get proper strategists, but that's what we need the most at the moment.
>>
>>33412810
>but he's incredibly cautious when the enemy holds favorable defensive terrain.
Now. Remember Chang an.
>>
>>33412720

>Last boss
>Laughing Cao cao.gif
>>
>>33412810
Yeah, he's pretty good. But nothing outstanding. Of course most outstanding generals are simply lucky.
>>
>>33412837

My plan was to have Yu Fan as our personal strategist and part of our retinue. This should work since Lu Bu promised us our own city to govern.

He won't survive long if he's Lu Bu's direct subordinate. Reading up on him, I was amazed that he survived so long without some shanking his ass.
>>
>>33412833
Who will lose if he goes for an open field battle, knows this, and has let us take over the entire province because of it.

This guy isn't a last boss. He's a speedbump.
>>
>>33412751

Those are currently held in the city and are sufficient for a year.
>>
>>33412720
>>33412751
This seriously has some merit to it
>>
>>33412866
That sounds good, our top generals are reasonable people that are concerned with getting the job done and won't react violently to someone like Yu Fan. Lu Su would be an excellent diplomat, administrator, and adviser.
>>
>>33412720
>>Attack Hui Ji
Waiting a year is stupid and takes too long, I hope you all realize how stupid and incompetent it sounds for us to take an entire year just to seize one castle that doesn't even belong to anybody noteworthy.

Besides, who's to say we won't be attacked by another enemy sometime in that year? Keep in mind we're not the only ones here.

I say take it now, before it gets any harder for us.
>>
>>33412778
That's a single victory, but we need to prove that we're worthy of being Lu Bu's right hand, and that's a big shadow to step out of. If we had sealed the deal and caught Wang Lang before he got to safety that would have been a much bigger feather in our cap.

Don't forget we also have to live down the blunder of leaving the emperor exposed and vulnerable because we wanted to hang with sempai. That's going to take some doing. To be fair to Zhu Xing though, he's still young and is doing well despite a few set backs here and there. So I think he's at least on the right track.

>One day, when Sun Quan travelling on horseback, he asked Yu Jin to ride beside him. Yu Fan saw that and shouted at Yu Jin, "You're a surrendered prisoner-of-war. How dare you ride side-by-side with my lord!" He wanted to hit Yu Jin with his horsewhip but Sun Quan ordered him to stop

>Yu Fan objected and urged him to execute Yu Jin. Sun Quan did not listen to Yu Fan. On the day of Yu Jin's departure, Sun Quan's subjects, including Yu Fan, came to see him off. Yu Fan told Yu Jin, "Don't you ever think that there are no great persons in Wu. It is just that my advice was not heeded."

>Mi Fang's men closed the gates so Yu Fan was unable to pass through. Yu Fan was furious and he shouted, "You leave the gates open when they are supposed to be closed, and you close them when they are supposed to be opened. Is this what you should be doing?"

>Once, when Sun Quan and Zhang Zhao were talking about immortals, Yu Fan pointed at Zhang and shouted, "They are all dead people but yet you call them immortals. How can there be immortals in this world?" At this point, Sun Quan could no longer tolerate Yu Fan so he exiled him to Jiao Province

>>33412974

You are incorrect for many, many reasons.

The first being that it was Chang'an and not Xuchang.

The second being that we massively outnumber Wang Lang at this point.

The third being that an unsuccessful assault is unlikely to reverse our gains, merely inflict losses and perhaps force us to starve them out.

The fourth being that the enemy is being lead by Wang Lang without any of his capable generals (since we killed them all), and not Jia Xu.

You decide to hold a council to determine your next move. The generals gather around the main tent and table once again. When everyone is present, you nod and begin.

"Generals, first, I would like to thank you all for making this campaign a success so far. Wang Lang's defeat has only been accomplished with your help. However, the city of Hui Ji still stands, and as long as Wang Lang lives, he may return to attack our conquered lands. Winter is coming soon, and we have the option of keeping this city at bay until they starve while the other forces return to Jian Ye to rest, or we may attack the city now. What say all of you?"

"Retreating and waiting out a year shows a poor demonstration of a warrior," Song Xian states flatly. "I do not want to go back without having taken the city."

"Agreed," Lingqi responds. "We already retreated in the Summer when we could have pursued and defeated Wang Lang. It would be humiliating for us and for my Father's name if we go stand still once again."

Zhang Liao rubs his chin, contemplating the manner before speaking.

"I think we should take Hui Ji as well. There is still Yuan Shu to the north, and I worry should he attack us if we keep delaying our campaign. Should he attack and Wang Lang move out in response, it may spell trouble for our forces."

It seems the majority have stated to take Hui Ji. You can the council now and begin your task, or ask for more opinions on taking Hui Ji.

None of the actual good ones we're worried about, so no. You have to be in the 90's to really count yourself among the heroes.
>>
>>33413207

The collective decisions have been pretty good so far.

Our only problem has been that we are far too cautious when it comes to assaulting enemy positions when they have favorable terrain.

But that's not a fatal weakness and it will likely be balanced out.

>>33413232

If we had 449 points to dole out, we could be the second coming of Cao Cao.

But we don't, we have limited number of points to allocate due to the nature of these games.

I can see why CHA would be useful in our position, Pol is the least useful out of bunch for many reasons including the fact that we can have political advisers.

WAR and LDR will always be our bread and butter stats since those are stats we have to rely on the most. INT is also incredibly useful, but can be supplemented by intelligent strategists.

Honestly? Unless we can end this fast, we may need to resort to low methods to shorten the seige. Targeting their vast food stores could work, but it's going to REALLY screw with the locals and make us hated among them.

Might be a good idea to concentrate fire on a section of the wall with our seige and try to bust through the hole as well. Either way, we should likely give the peasants here SOME support so we don't have to worry about revolts behind us. Perhaps as a thank you for putting up with us last night?

Targeting the food supply was a common method of war, and it doesn't breed animosity so long as we can provide immediate assistance after they surrender.

"Generals, do you have any suggestions on taking Hui Ji? I wish to take it as quickly as possible before the dread of Winter. A straight up siege may take too long."

"We bombard them for a few days, then commence an all our attack," Song Xian states. "We should be giving no rest to the enemy and make them surrender as quickly as possible."

"Morale is the key force here," Gao Shun says. "The enemy has already lost numerous battles, and they have been holed up in the city for months now. If the General can find a way to deplete their spirit, we should be able to take Hui Ji easily."

"I am in agreement," Zhang Liao states with a nod. "I have heard Wang Lang to be a cowardly man, if not pragmatic. If we should show him defeat is imminent, then he should surrender. As for any ploys and the like... I am afraid that is Master Chen Gong's expertise, not mine. Perhaps you can focus on letting the enemy know that our numbers are larger than theirs. Or attempting to rile the populace that live in the city."

With the advice given, you nod and decide to move out your forces. Your troops march only a short day toward Hui Ji, and in no time, the city can be seen. Alarms rise through the city when your army approaches, and soldiers move to the walls to defend. All in all the enemy has around 4000 troops, while you have amassed an army of 10,000. You have an adequate amount of siege weapons and your supply lines are good enough that you no longer need to worry for supplies. The city walls are moderately strong, and the gates are heavily monitored that it seems people can no longer enter or leave the city. How do you proceed with this battle?

You order the catapults to be set up and to begin bombarding the enemy for a couple days. Lobs of boulders and fire pots are hurled to the city, and with the men defending the walls lacking in experience in dealing with a siege, the bombardment causes decent damage to the enemy forces and walls, killing a few hundred. After days of bombardment and the enemy tired, cases of letters demanding surrender and safety for those who will give up, as well as stories of Wang Lang's allies having been defeated are sent flying over the city.

Despite the bombardment, there are still enemy forces intact so they refuse to surrender yet, though their morale has suffered and you can see the enemy soldiers are in a miserable state.

How about we focus most of our forces to attack a certain part of the castle, since we greatly out number them they'll most likely concentrate most, if not all of their forces there.

While they do, a smaller group of forces sneak around to silently climb up the castle walls in a part of the castle that won't be guarded, maybe? Then we either attack them from both sides or if we somehow know or have a good guess at where whatshisface will be, we go straight to cutting the head off the snake.

It's probably a stupid idea but I am not a man known for amazing strategies. Idunno, just yeah..

We rolled pretty low for our river attack if I remember, I'm sure if we use some sort of plan of attack in our method of charging we'd be able to mitigate losses.

Unfortunately there's not much to do with a siege.

I suggest we attack from two sides. Don't split up our forces too heavily but keep our enemy a bit split up.
>>
>>33414523

Well, we outnumbered them more than 2 to 1 so splitting troops in two seems like a sound approach.

You give the order to attack, with Gao Shun leading the rams to the gates while the other generals attack the walls with siege ladders and supporting fire. Despite having suffered days of bombardment, the enemy forces fight back with everything they got to some impressive display. Siege ladders are broken and thrown back, and the first ram at the enemy gate is destroyed by large boulders being thrown down and fire arrows before much damage is done to the gates.

"When men are cornered, rats become tigers," Zhang Liao comments rubbing his beard. "I will go to the forefront and rally the men."

Zhang Liao charges to the front lines, and yells for the soldiers to keep up their attack. He himself manages to go up the walls himself, killing a few enemy troops before being driven back down by troops from the other walls reinforcing. Gao Shun remains calm, as he sends another ram to hit the gates before it falls as well.

The next few days see tenacious enemy defends, your forces only doing adequately because of the generals under your command. The gate to the city is battered, some of the walls show cracks. A thousand enemies have been killed, but a thousand on your side have been killed as well. It seems the repelling of your forces have slightly heightened the enemy forces.

"We will give the enemy no quarter for rest. Continue the attacks. I will personally oversee the front myself. Men, charge the enemy once more! The first man to take the enemy flag will be rewarded ten households once we take Hui Ji!"

The soldiers shout raising their weapons, and begin the attack again as you lead the men to the walls. Gao Shun once again leads the rams to the gates and keeps up his stoic, mannerly attacks. By hours in, the gate is broken down, and Gao Shun orders a fierce charge within the enemy lines. On your side, parts of the enemy walls slowly begin to break and your men continue your fierce attacks. On the second day, you lead a group of men and begin tunneling under a weakened section of the wall. After long hours, your soldiers manage to destroy a section of the wall and you order for men to pour in.

Enemy forces fight with all they can, and they manage to drive your forces back barely. By the third day, only a thousand and few hundred remain on the enemy side. As you prepare for another attack to begin, seeing as how your forces can now charge through the gates and broken section of the wall, a couple riders come out from broken gates with white flags.

"Lord Wang Lang wishes to surrender!" one of the soldiers from the entourage state. His battered armor and dirtied face is indicative of how tired the other soldiers are in Hui Ji.

You call for the soldiers to surrender their arms, and they do so. You move in the city with your soldiers, and begin to secure the city. You come to the governmental palace, where Wang Lang is awaiting for you with the seal of the city on hand.

"General, your prowess is unmatched and your heavenly presence must indicate that fate wants this city passed unto you. I surrender to your godlike might, and that of Governor Lu Bu's," Wang Lang states going to his knee. "I only ask that you allow me to keep Hui Ji, or to give me a proper rank within Lord Lu Bu's force."

What do you do? Do you trust Wang Lang enough to let him in your force?

Y'all needa realize that if we execute him, this will pretty much set an example and say to our future enemies that surrender won't be an option as we would just execute them in the end. This may just make future battles harder as the enemy generals would be encouraged to fight to the death.
>>

>>33415193

I'm torn. If we exile him when he had so many opportunities to surrender before, others might call us naive or soft-hearted. It could also make Wang Lang an enemy in the future, though he won't be a dangerous one.

If we execute him, that may make enemies more reluctant to surrender in the future. Which could have rippling effect in our future conquests.

All things considered, I think being considered soft-hearted and naive is better than the alternative. We are only 20 so this "hit" to our reputation can be remedied and it may even be beneficial to us in the future.
>>
>>33415261
This. If he had surrendered he would have been worth taking a chance on, but he stubbornly refused. Executing him is tempting but isn't worth risking the possible backlash.

It takes a few seconds for Wang Lang to reply, but he bows in acceptance and the guards move him out of the palace. All of the officials have fled and the place is deserted. You are surprised however to see one man standing in a bowed position at the main hallway to the side.

In the previous thread, we swore to our ranked officers that we would take Wang Lang's head. For us to reverse our decision, one that had been made in front of every named general for that matter-- that's a moment of capricious indecision. If we did that, then our generals would start doubting our capacity for leadership.

If we took Wang Lang in, we'd have to worry about him plotting to betray us-- unless we go the Cao Cao route and shower him with honor and monies to make him happy.

I didn't want to do waifu shit and instead bro it up with the peasantry. The waifufags won. I grit my teeth and accepted that. Accept that he got exiled.
>>
>>33416219
Yeah, Raian.. this would really make the whole experience a lot better. I understand it must be annoying to write something, then have to start over after seeing that everyone has changed their minds, but... you'd do that for us right?
Because you love us, right?
....right?

>>33416219

Also, it's not like this was a major decision. We can't be wasting so much time when it's a weekly quest anyway.

>>
>>33416107
We didn't make an honor bound oath on our name and family that we would see his wickedness ended no matter the cost etc etc. We said we'd have his head on a pike in the heat of battle. That we didn't execute him after he surrendered doesn't mean we don't take our word seriously, it simply indicates we aren't unreasonable and dislike executing enemies that surrender to us.

That said I voted for execution anyway since the guy was a douche.

I thought the first thread indicated he'd post every 30 minutes? Even with people changing their mind I'm fairly sure exile won votes anyway. Wanting a revote is just sour grapes. All we can do is accept the QMs decision and adjust how we vote as the quest goes on.
>>
>>33416347
Ah, that's right, we made sure we don't have to drink with that guy.

I don't really care if this asshole lived or died, but it was clear that many people were changing their minds during the discussion.

It feels like this is many of your first quests or something. The standard voting window is 5-15 minutes for most quests.

QMs need time to write too. They can't check over their shoulders every second and rewrite everything instantly.

Honestly, final destination should only be used for Critical Fucking Decisions, and this probably wasn't one of them given the tone of Raian's post. Not to mention that final destination can be samefagged easily as well.

This isn't unique to Three Kingdoms Quest either.

You move to the man and demand to know who he is.

"The other officials have fled, but you stand here as if defiant. Tell me your name and reason for keeping yourself here."

The man keeps his bowed position, though he keeps himself poised firm and upright without hesitation.

"I am Yu Fan, styled Zhongxiang. It seems I served an improper lord who would consort to allying himself with bandits. I advised Lord Wang Lang to surrender to avoid this inevitable loss, but alas, I was not listened to. Despite my mistakes, I am honor-bound to keep my duty to the end and keep my service to this city."

You rub your chin, and question the man further.

"I have heard rumors of your talent and have also heard of the incident in regards to Wang Lang. What would you think of serving Lord Lu Bu?"

"If that is asked of me, I will do it. I am uncertain yet however that Lord Lu Bu will bring peace to the Southlands. He acted as a common bandits long before, and it is hard for a man to change his ways."

You remain silent for a few seconds, contemplating the situation. He seems an upright and loyal man, but he just spoke words that could have angered Lu Bu and it would come to no surprise if others would have wanted him executed.

Now comes the FarmVille arc; where we have to make nice, socialize, and consolidate our base of power so we don't get a peasant rebellion, assassination attempts, and the Sun family coming in and saying "Dafuq?" and dropping Cheng Pu on us for a rematch for the shit we dealt with in Thread #1.
>>
>>33416672

I hope we can keep Gao Shun in our personal retinue.

Zhang Liao's too high ranked and he's probably the next in line for a separate command.

"Then we will make use of your talents. See for yourself how far Lord Lu Bu can take us, and the changes he can bring. The other generals and I here have followed him for good reason. See to it that you continue to allow the Southlands to prosper under your care, and I ask that you act as my personal adviser for the future."

"As you command."

With Yu Fan joining the force, the rest of the days is spent keeping Hui Ji orderly and the populace content. Yu Fan does a good job of advising you on what policies to enact and how to keep the people happy, though his strict nature and straight arrow attitude turns off some of the other officials that have served Lu Bu since his capture of Jian Ye. A couple forces are still sent to keep the peace and take control of the remaining Southlands.

You hear news that Lu Bu has defeated Yan Baihu with resounding results. Taishi Ci managed to slay Yan Baihu's brother, Yan Yu in a duel, and during one charge, the Bandit King was personally killed by Lu Bu. With their leaders dead, the disorderly Shanyue were quickly defeated and decimated by Lu Bu's army. Chen Gong is said to have kept Lu Bu from pillaging and kept the people placated, creating strong unified territory on the eastern front. However, with still many different Shanyue tribes present, the campaign will take a few more months.

In the north, Cao Cao defeats Li Jue and Guo Si who were feuding and has taken control of the Emperor. He has moved the Emperor and the capital to Xuchang and has solidified his position. Yuan Shao defeats Gongsun Zan and rives him back further north, and it is only a matter of time before Yuan Shao takes Hebei.

With the southern campaign over, strong forces begin to rise. Lu Bu in the south has no doubt caught the attention of the other lords.

Who's the guy who said he'd serve us after we beat Wang Lang? Have him stay behind with Gao Shun.
>>
>>33417068
>>Implying we won't accidentally roll terribly in diplomacy roll and Lu Bu won't cleave Zhuge Liang in half

Very ok with these two outcomes. Yueying could make us some Juggernauts.

Bring them.

Song's gonna do whatever we tell him to do-- within reason, now that we're on a better relationship level with him.

Lingqi needs to go where her father could need her. Filial piety and respect, yo.

>Anti-waifuism gone full retard. I don't care about waifus, but not bringing Lingqi back to her father is a stupid move.

Say Lu Bu is dying/mortally wounded and wants to see everyone he loves and/or holds dear to his heart. Nobody would want to suffer a curse if his dying wish wasn't carried out.
>>

There's no reason not to bring her though, Jian Ye is closer to inevitable battle with Sun Ce/Yuan Shu and we could use good fighting officers.

You throw a feast before you depart to Jian Ye, deciding to take Lingqi, Zhang Liao, Song Xian, and with you while Yu Fan remains to govern the lands and Gao Shun and Fan Neng to safeguard from rebels and bandits. Warm fires are placed in the hallway of the governmental palace, and a large table is of roasting pig and dumplings are placed. The other officers arrive, and seat themselves. We need an update on Xu. Who has it, Cao Cao, Liu Bei, or Tao Qian?
>>
>>33417393
Tao Qian before the war with Wang Lang. Cao Cao and Liu Bei split Xu at that time.
>>
>>33417306
>>33417357
Fuck, we fucked with the timeline and the True History route is no more.

IF Route confirmed. Hold on to your butts, boys, 'cause it's going to hurt when Cao Cao decides to sail south and kick our shit.

... fuck, Wu's Navy was the only reason why Cao Cao's forces never made it across the Yangtze River.

Welp, we've screwed the pooch. I'm thinking we should've stayed in Xuchang back in one of the earlier threads instead of coming down to the Southlands.
>>
>>33417382

I'm fairly sure the "big boy" is going to be Yuan Shao.

Cao Cao's not going to focus on Wu-Bu because of Yuan Shao and Northern Plains. Besides, there's Zhang Xiu and other distractions to deal with.

Yuan Shu might or might not have the imperial seal, but he's a danger and a neighbor. He also has the Sun Clan.

Liu Biao and Jing province is our ally so we do have a fairly strong ally and connection to Imperial Courts right now.

>>33417393

Tao Qian is dead, Cao Cao and Liu Bei had split it when we left for the South.
>>
>>33417393
Can anyone update that map we had before, with all the different regions filled in to indicate who was in control of them?
>>
>>33417413

I don't think so. We just need to keep the Liu Clan as our allies and make sure they don't surrender to Cao Cao. This should be easier since their allies control Wu and not their blood enemies.

If we can absorb Yuan Shu's land, then we should be a match for Cao Cao. Particularly since Cao Cao is still outnumbered by Yuan Shao at this time.

Ma Teng might also be a strong, but distant ally.
>>
Hey, when we ask Song Xiang about that drink, we should go, "I know I said we'd do this when we had that filth's head, though I hope you'll forgive me, hahaha." Might show him that we do consider him some.
>>
>>33417457
Ma Teng might still die just like in True History if the whole plot to assassinate Cao Cao via poison delivered by the Court Physician fails.

Good lord, trying to plan a few moves ahead like in chess is giving me a headache.
>>
So I brought this up in the last thread but what are we going to use for our style name? We can name ourselves, but we can also just leave it to one of our elders.

You think Lu Bu will give us a cool style name?
>>
>>33417457
I suggest then we move against Cao cao when Yuan shao does since his numbers are a big concern if Cao cao lets them go unchecked.

This is of course assuming Yuan shao doesn't move against us.
>>
>>33417486

Perhaps, but Ma Teng doesn't die historically until after Cao Cao's invasion and Red Cliff.

If we reach out to him early enough (maybe after Yuan Shu), we could create a formidable anti-Cao alliance.
>>
>>33417486
Better saw open your head.
>>
>>33417457

> liu clan surrenders

Wont be happening. there will not be a succession crisis. Since liu cong didnt marry lady cai's daughter
>>
Hey, did we tell that escort to kill Wang Lang once he was in the middle of the countryside with no one around to witness his demise?
>>
>>33417486
I think we need to join the anti-Cao alliance when the blood decree is sent out, and join in on a pronged assault on his territories along with Yuan Shao, Liu Biao, and other rulers. The problem is who will secure the emperor.
>>
As fun as it is to plan for the eventualities of the big factions coming into conflict with us, it'd probably be a better use of our time to think on ways we can improve our lands and our personal retinue.
>>
>>33417521

Ideally Lu Bu of course, but it cannot be Yuan Shao. It would be difficult for Liu Biao to secure the emperor geographically, but he would be second best.

Ma Teng is a reasonable compromise since he seemed like a true loyalist.

We could also bring Liu Zhang into the alliance as a member of the Imperial Clan, so he is geographically distant.

>choose the govern and train options

>>33417494

"To all the generals, I congratulate you all for your success on the field of battle and for this successful campaign. All of our generals have made considerable contributions to this force, and for the sake of unifying the land after Yangzhou, we should all continue to do better. I would like to point out the efforts of General Gao Shun however, who have given considerable deeds. If it were not for his heroic cavalry charges, we may have taken longer in this campaign."

The officers raise their glass and make a gesturing bow to the Gao Shun. Gao Shun humbly bows in response, but makes no remarks otherwise.

"And General Song Xian, let us not forget that drink that was promised. Instead of your wine however, let me pour you the finest wine I found in the palace."

Song Xian raises his cup with pleasure, and thanks you for your generosity.

"I thank you General. Let me lead the next charge, or duel whoever would dare fight you and Lord Lu Bu, and I assure you that I will not disappoint you."

The banquet proceeds in good order, and your relationship with the generals improve as everyone tells tales of the battles they fought and the units they led during the campaign. When the times comes for you to leave, Gao Shun and Fan Neng personally see you out and embrace hands as a sign of good faith. Yu Fan keeps to his duties and does not see you out to your travels, but you do not take offense having grown used to his personality.

You travel the road to Jian Ye, reaching it in about a month. You greet Yan Jun who has been working hard and keeping the city at a good level.

When Spring comes, word reaches your ears that a large amount of troops are headed to Jian Ye. Ji Ling, a general under Yuan Shu is leading a force of 15,000 to attack Lu Bu's force.

>>33417676
Small panic begins to arise within the force. With only a force of 5000 strong, it sounds difficult to repel Yuan Shu's force. Song Xian suggests abandoning Jian Ye and moving back to Hui Ji, consolidating forces, and striking back together with Lu Bu. Zhang Liao and Lingqi adamtly disagree, stating they should defend the city to the death if need be. Yan Jun stresses that should the forces hold up for a siege, the outlying lands and villages will be pillaged making the Southlands unstable.

As the officers and officials argue at the council, the door opens up and a soldier walks in.

“A letter from Master Chen Gong!” the man announces as he presents a scroll to you. You immedately open it to read the contents.

“By the time this letter has reached you, Yuan Shu should have taken quite a fright at our lord's growing power and has likely sent a force to attack our lands. I have taken arrangements with Liu Biao, who should be sending our a force himself to meet Yuan Shu's army. Work together with Liu Biao's force, and defeat the petty lord's forces.”

And as Chen Gong stated, you hear that Liu Biao has sent a force of 10,000 to fight against Yuan Shu and asks for your cooperation in fighting him.

Had a horrible idea that may keep us from getting steamrolled by Cao Cao's forces:

We marry Sun Shang Xiang or we marry off our younger sister to Sun Quan.

With the cementation of a blood alliance with the Sun clan, thereby further consolidating our claim to the eventual formation of the region of Wu-Bu.

This way, we also deny Liu Bei access to Lady Sun and gain the trust of the Sun clan.
>>
>>33417826

We should also be prepared for Liu Biao to withdraw his forces if he feels the fight will be too costly. We'll probably need to impress him to keep him from getting cold feet.

The campaign went good for the most part, besides some ridiculous and bizarre plans being sent out there. As a note, doing really complicated plans that you would see in anime or something will likely not work in these situations (Like throwing smoke bombs or something to cover siege towers and thinking every lord out there can be killed by a duel)

Not pillaging would have been the better choice. It would have lowered troop morale, but morale can easily be gotten back when you squash troops. Sun Ce was very successful in the South because he kept his soldiers disciplined and disallowed looting of any kind.

Destroying Wang Lang rather than letting him fall back to Hui Ji would have been a tremendous feat and would have skyrocketed Zhu Xing's fame. Was too cautious on that part.

No, I'm not anti-Lingqi, and I refuse to make her a dumb bimbo who will suck your dick off immediately when her character in every fictional story and game should tell you she's hard mode. Analyze her character and work with it.

Sun family alliance poster here.

We have no legitimate claim to the Southlands. The Sun family has been the guardians of the area longer than most of the other families. By marriage, we legitimize our claims as well as gain a sizeable amount of prestige and fame which would help us in attracting talented scholars, advisors, and generals.

This in turn would lead to a stronger power base as well as a more secure economic base since a happy and secure populace would be more willing to contribute more to the war coffers when we decide to go out and knock some heads.

>>33417903
Ce's the head of the family. He would be less receptive to marrying someone of lower birth than his family whereas Quan the younger son would have no qualms and therefore subject to less political consequences than the elder brother. Politics, yo.

Old Elder Qiao was state patriarch; it was more or less the reason why Ce and Zhou Yu shacked up with the Qiao sisters. Fame, legitmacy, and all the trappings of politics.

The shu campaign is FULL of benevolence, but the other campaigns more or less shit on both the concept and Liu Bei's actual actions in service of it, which was to betray a lot of people and prolong a war for no benefit.

>We have no legitimate claim to the Southlands

>The Sun family has been the guardians of the area longer than most of the other families

This is exactly why we need to kill them off.

If we let the Sun clan build a power base in our lands, they'll eventually usurp our rule with popular backing and their talented generals and scholars.

You also didn't address how we are going to ally with Sun when we allied with Liu Biao, responsible for killing Sun Jian and the reason Sun clan fled to Yuan Shu.

Tell me how she was a dumb bimbo. She was grateful for her father's life being saved, and she visited the character to thank him. They had a good convo about the Han and found the character likeable because he was interested in her poetry, and considers the character a good friend.

Tell me how you would like Lingqi to be. From all her characterizations, I consider her a character who doesn't give a shit about marriage and having a boyfriend, which means she should be around hard mode if you are really intent on getting her.

>>33417917
Lu Bu taking the South is an if. Remember that Cao Cao spent a large part of his time dealing with Lu Bu on Historical. Lu Bu is no longer there. Cao Cao has taken the lands he would have gotten at a much faster rate and has lost less resources without having to deal with Lu Bu. It doesn't mean he has the power to win automatically when Yuan Shao, Yuan Shu, and Liu Biao still dislike him.

Think of the situation on hand. It won't always be the same. Li Jue and Gao Shun had the veteran Xiliang forces that had been battling for years against the Qiang, had twice the army you did, and had camps on hills when you charged them, both of which I mentioned. Even with good morale, that's not something you can take on.

Wang Lang has had troops that lacked experience. They just got smashed, had their generals killed, had little time to prepare their camps when you were chasing them.

Think of the generals. Sure, you said you'd kill Wang Lang, but it wasn't like you made a huge blood oath to the gods and ancestors or anything. In the long run, why would they care as long as they took the city and won?
>>
>>33418117

So, obviously this is dependent on your schedule, but would it be possible to make the weekly sessions last longer?

Generally, most weekly quests seem to go 8+ hours and this quest usually runs about 6-6.5 hours.

I suspect that a lot of frustration and concern about social interactions and priorities is because we have a limited quest time to get things done. Expanding the quest time slot might help a lot.

Yes.

As a note, when I said clan building was important, I didn't mean waifu simulator. Marrying those characters off to a relative of a character and forming that relationship, even marrying a bunch of generic relatives and daughters of other characters and the like, is clan building. Though I guess I shouldn't have expected that from people who want to see more romance and waifus.

>>33418424
Not really. Siege is a siege. Maybe some houses that were close to the walls may have been blasted away, but it should be assumed that things like that are taken care of when I put the part about Yu Fan and Zhu Xing dealing with some administrative duties. Plaguing the the walls and having disease spread to the populace would have been bad though for popularity.

Besieging the town would have been different though. It's a much smaller place, with houses more closed in and intact, with walls not having been placed further apart from the houses. More people, more houses are getting destroyed than a city where walls and defenses are placed more carefully away from the houses and like.

We don't need to spend every turn on her. We can gain her approval through battle and valorous deeds since she values that. Getting her to open up will take a while sure, but it will probably take less turns over all if everyone would back off slightly and just focus on being a bad ass enough to gain her admiration as a warrior. The Waifu fags are just rushing things and wasting turns, sparing her was a good use of a turn for example, today's decision was not (hence why it was so contested at the end of last session).

Zhu Xing has only so far just thrown praises at Lu Bu and supported him. So Lu Bu's arrogance and lack of honor hasn't really been changed. Chen Gong is definitely glad you're there, and hopes you'll be an asset if Lu Bu ever decides to make a dumb decision.

Zhang Liao would probably be more important if Zhu Xing wasn't there, yes. He's not the type of guy to care though.

Zhu Xing is being pretty lax yes. It wasn't uncommon for sixteen year olds to get married to maintain clan relations. With his family also unmarried, if you ask the typical noble schmuck, he would say Zhu Xing needs to work on his clan.

>>33418610

We owe it to her and her future babies.

Personal charisma was always going to be important.

There are no dump stats anon, only stats that we aren't proficient in. Pol is the easier stat to delegate so having it act as dump stat while we grind other stats makes sense, but even then we'll probably want it higher if possible. There will be times when we may have to rely on our Pol and won't be able to delegate. When those times come fucking up could have long lasting consequences.
>>
I wonder what happens if we straight up ask Lu Bu for Lingqi's hand in marriage.

The old fashioned, arranged marriage way.
>>
>>33418787
rape
>>
>>33418764

Well we couldnt even get her to open up to us. She doesn't even trust us that far.
>>
>>33418785

Eh, 53 isn't horrendous. I'm really glad we got Yu Fan and his Political acumen though, even if he's an abrasive asshole.

Especially because he's an abrasive asshole.

>>33418787

Lingqi would be unhappy and refuse and Lu Bu will say fuck it and go drinking
>>
>>33418787
I doubt Lingqi would go along with it, despite being a total daddy's girl
>>
>>33418787
Kek, we ought to hold a war council before doing that.
Chen Gong and Zhang Liao know our game, and their advice has been solid so far.
>>
>>33418804
That imagery is hilarious and I support it. Zhang Liao would probably just bow out of that one though.
>>
>>33418803

Well, as the daughter, if Lu Bu has made a decision, she doesn't have much say. Much like how his eldest was sent to Liu Cong.
>>
>>33418804

Song Xian would probably barge into the war council and give horrible advice before he's ejected by Gao Shun.
>>
>>33418804

Chen gong might have some advice for this shit.
>>
>>33418804
We'd use their plan, get shit rolls for seduction and spaghetti all over the place anyway.
>>
>>33418828

"Be Smooth, Man"

And then she laughs at Zhu's small dick.

"Man, I've seen your weak-ass game. That ain't smooth" -Chen Gong, Advisor to Governor Lu Bu
>>
We really should do this.

Ask for advice on courting Lingqi.

The reactions will be hilarious.
>>
>>33418859
>He proceeds to go over and sweep Lingqi completely off her feet in about a minute.
>>
>>33418832
>The imagery of Zhu Xing trying to recite what Chen Gong told him to say with tips thrown in by Zhang Liao but fumbling the words horribly.
>Half way through Linqi knocks down the nearby door and Chen Gong and Zhang Liao flee as she hurls things at them.
>Gao Shun remains stalwart despite the pain
>The game is up and Zhu Xing just tells her he likes her.
>"I only date men stronger that me"
>Duel ensues.
>Lu Bu crashes the duel.
>Zhu Xing wins.
>Marries Lu Bu.
>>
>>33418859
Further reinforcing the idea we should just find four or five pretty generic girls and forget about her by fucking them.
>>
>>33418885

While crying Lingqi's name out in the middle of babymaking and crying himself to sleep afterwards.
>>
>>33418895
Whatever gets us heirs, man.
>>
>>33418902

Lu Bu doesn't have sons right?
>>
>>33418902

Gonna be honest, the only reason I'm pursuing Lingqi is because I want Lu Bu genes in our heir.
>>
>>33418902
>>33418913
>>33418914

Not just heirs. If Lu Bu doesn't pop a heir, our kid will be next in line for the faction.
>>
>>33418913

Nope, just two daughters.

One married to Liu Biao's second son and one who is unmarried.

Which makes the question of succession actually really interesting. Lu Bu NEEDS to produce a son or Lingqi needs to get married to keep our lands from falling into Jing's hands.
>>
>>33418921
No, that'd probably be the elder daughter's kids
>>
>>33418921

Competing with the elder sister's kids, but a viable claim to to the throne nevertheless.

They'll be backed by Jing and Liu clan while Lingqi's kid would presumably have the Wu-Bu support.
>>
>>33418885
Man, you're no Great General of the Heavens. Your ambition is weak. Get out of my sight.
>>
>>33418928

No, they'll have a claim but they're of the Liu clan now.

Lu Bu can designate successors and hes not likely to do so to someone under the control of an external power.
>>
>>33418938
Cao Cao pls, you fucked anything with a vagina
>>
>>33418938

Shin, please.
>>
Welp, that actually persuaded me that we might need to go after Lingqi now.

Not out of personal attachment since I don't really care too much for her, but for succession issues. Fuck giving our hard-earned land to the Liu clan.
>>
>>33418931
>Wu-Bu

I thought we shot down the idea for the alliance.

>>33418961

Everything we do.

We do for our side.
>>
>>33418961
Knew you'd come around.
>>
>>33418880

mfw no face
>>
>>33418961
Go after her how? Just keep spamming attempts to talk to her until the dice are finally high enough? The opportunity cost for that would be insane.
>>
>>33418961
Yeah. I've never been /against/ Lingqi. I've just found the waifu chasing frustrating. Getting her as our wife would be a major accomplishment and would help secure the MC dynasty for the quest (Once Zhu Xing gets to old perspective switch to his son Zhu Bu etc).
>>
>>33418967
>I thought we shot down the idea for the alliance.

Eh, thinks might pan out differently when the Sun Family comes a knocking.
Especially if we can weaken Yuan Shu, which is kinda their only hope now that their home is occupied by non-scrubs
>>
>>33418967

I like saying Wu-Bu because it sounds funny when I say it in my head.

Also because Lu Bu has Wu's heartland now. So I just call it Wu-Bu.
>>
>>33418967
We're basically the Wu kingdom, just with no Sun dynasty in it.
>>
>>33418977

READ HER FOR FUCK SAKES YOU VIRGIN FAGGOT

FIND COMMON INTEREST, SPARRING AND COMPETING IN BATTLE IS GOOD

VISITING HER AND TRY TO BE SMOOTH IS NOT

FUCK
>>
>>33418977
That bums me out. I really want to bro it up with some of our officers instead of just pursuing Lu Bu's daughters
>>
Oh goes, liu wont have their succession crisis, we will!

Things will be interesting down the road.

We'd better get it in good with liu biao or whoever is leading the force.

We need allies in the court who can help us speak against invading us.
>>
>>33419004
>someone spar with her without visiting

Uh huh.
>>
>>33419008
Which is why we shouldn't pursue her. She's way WAY too high maintenance.
