In the future where megacorps seek profit, private armies can destroy entire worlds, space pirate are real, galactic empires arise, terraforming of entire planets is now, entire planets revolt, and more.

A group sets out to be led by you. Whether in mighty ship or settling upon a world to call home. There are others like you constantly pushing out and away for whatever reason. Whether to avoid the harsh grip of the more civilized spaces, to start anew, a need for freedom, greed, hunger for power or whatever it is. You while far away and out there are NOT alone. Others have had similar awakenings, aliens lurk, monsters creeps, zombie peoples eagerly follow, nightmares follow. and more.

Whether your wildest dreams come to haunt you or nightmares become real. That is for you to discover, realize, and live. Whether you survive it is a different matter entirely.

So hopefully may you weep tears of joy, enjoy painful smiles, sweet victory and bitter defeat. Only to rise again stronger then ever to pave the way forward.

Of that i cannot promise but i can at least hope it is so.

After saving the world from an alien attack. The planet X-C 0 3 study the alien tech and adapted it to fit their needs. Knowing that this would be unlikely the last attack. They from groups of highly train and diversified people to take the fight to them. With the governments of the world fully backing every was set and they headed out to a cold planet. luckily for them they had the tech to build a bunker and stock it with the tech they will need to fight the enemy head on. Some say they are like good bandits able to loot the enemy's tech and make it their own. But in turn is a mix of things. A good team of researchers, Engineers, and solders working as one unit. They fight the enemy take their tech, Study it, adapt and keep going. With hopes after the war is over they can use this to build on new worlds.

Nomad(nomad HQs offer a special bonus as well)

or homeworld
Terraformed + pop + resources - expensive
Temperate + pop + supply - war
Marsh +research + supply - manufacturing
Desert +resources + war - supply
Water + supply + research - manufacturing
Ice + war + manufacturing - research
Volcanic +war +resources -research
Dead + research + manufacturing - pop

Fluff is encouraged and offers bonuses. Sponsor may be fluffed out however you choose otherwise i have options

>Civilians get a salvage/adapt bonus and boost to survival actions.

>Natives get bonuses to magic and special warfare.

>Corporation whenever you profit well you gain a one time limited bonus.

>Researcher start with a Tech specialty and gain a special unit because of this.

>Paramilitary forces are automatically trained but you still have to pay.

>Government may mimic another civs special or have another possibly even create their own with GM permission.

>mutants may include more 'meta' groups as well get access to 1 special trait(like being highly mutative, gene modded to hell, borged out, hivemind, ect) Unfortunately they suffer from a severe rep penalty and suffer some kind of potentially breeding issue.

>bandits have the special ability to auto upgrade their forces thanks to their life style(other factions have to spend resources AND a action to do so bandits just do resources) however they are unable to make their own supply(must raid or something) and suffer a reputation penalty. *WARNING* white knight choices will be vetoed you are EVIL, but that doesn't mean you can't be smart/clever about it *WARNING*.

Blessed by a strange being, the former researchers had their minds opened by the glory of his light. They follow him now, to this water world. Utilising the power of the mind that was given to them.

Calling forth divine powers that are unequalled, each cultist was a weapon in itself. Although each and individual one could not by itself cause anything great, once they had gathered together, many great things can become possible.

Many continue to attempt to enlighten themselves further to his light, broadening their minds and psionic powers. Utilising this method, one may become extremely powerful, but some whisper of the humanity lost from it.

Each day the cultists are blessed by the world's sun, and each day they give thanks to him, singing with their minds for the first hours of dawn. Calling to him, praising him, yearning for him.

Although small and weak now, they have foreseen futures of great cities covering the entire world, each member of this great civilisation works towards that future. Together, as one.

Singular Solutions was created for one purpose by a rather eccentric megacorp CEO: find a way to create immortals.
They failed in their initial mission.
However, the work they did led to numerous breakthroughs in Man/Machine interfaces, allowing for entire new sectors of the economy to form. Almost overnight, people gained the capability of directly accessing the quantum internet binding civilization together. Machines could be controlled as if they were an extension of the pilot's body. Massive systems could be wired into a single coordinators brain, allowing for incredible leaps of efficiency.

while limiting certain options could also grant many possibilities.

basically...sponsor in combat vessel guarding colonial vessel. Is unaligned.

problem is stats would be off and when aligning don't gain beginning personnnel.

unless...

That could work.

Would give time to make up minds.

hm basically sponsor in personnel ship able to make alliances and purchase people/things from colonial ship. thus allowing you to pick and choose.

Would require sponsor(avatar) being fleshed out, but would allow picking and choosing.

Sadly HQ options would be Nomad, Packaged Base, Sponsored Township

Best of all worlds yes?

Only need sponsor which I could provide options for or write in.

here you go additional choice

Sponsored: Solo character who may make certain 'purchases' acquiring items. Default is equivalent to government but beware for every point you choose to increase it you must decrease something else or multiples by an equivalent amount.

Initial purchase represents sponsors initial investments.

sponsor base choices

>Torn Veteran
>Wretched Rogue
>Twisted Genius
>Rich Kid
>Write in

Feel free to modify or fluff out the above templates as well as write in serves basically to make it entirely up form the ground up. Be ware that it must be somewhat reasonable or have quality enough fluff that i am willing to allow it.

He just knows a little bit about everything, but more importantly, he knows everybody.

Literally every last person, and maintained contacts!

Any groups that come on world to pick up resources, he knows at least the ones that have been around.

Bump up the volume! Dance! Dance!
>>
>>33767053
This is an incredibly difficult game to get the hang of for newbies especially.

>>33766500
>>33767023
I don't know, it was only me and one other guy last night was just me saying how great magic was against technology (stopping tanks shells and the tanks insantly and melting them to ash with your fingers) but I think those guys were newbies who just voted cultists but didn't realize there was a lore specialty they had to choose or that they had to.

As for votes not normally coming in rapdily, it's probably because of the sudden influx of newfags who thought this was a new quest but didn't realize it's the same one that's been going on for ages.
>>
>>33769154
As for me, I like the think tank ideas that are being thrown around here but am tired of chipping in fluff for civs that don't really go so well anyway nor does fluff seem to really help a civ. I'll back think tank but will need time to come up with anything good.
>>
>>33769154
On that note, I wonder if one of the things that makes it hard for new people to join is to recognize that this isn't like a normal quest and isn't continually run and then stops running after a few consecutive hours of activity and then quitting after the day.

This quest while on average slower than others allows for prolonged gaming, you can throw in an idea, go do something else for an hour or so and come back and see if that idea made it through or someone else thought of something smart. Likewise a thread can last for a whole week even after OP goes to bed we keep it bumped and continue tomorrow.
>>
>>33769290
Basically if an anon throws in an idea and after an hour or more it doesn't happen and the thread doesn't begin they give up and leave, when if they just stayed and kept pushing and fluffing out their civ it would eventually happen.

So it depends if you really have the perseverance and interest to dedicate time and effort into this civ, which might be fine for old players but for people who never seen this game before it's like "hm, why should I suddenly write a long paragraph or two about a neat civ Idea I'm not sure I care to flesh out other than play, and then spend time pushing for it in a game I haven't played yet or don't really know much about."

On top of the other unwritten rules about civ choices that aren't evident for new guys either (Such as Cultists requiring a fluffed up and chosen lore, or this new Sponsor idea).

Another thing Genie is that the way you structure your words might appear to be cryptic and infathomable to people who don't have the context to realize something like >>33767023 "oh he's debating whether the hybrdization of the civ choices would be a good idea or a bad idea, and now he's proposing we get a sponsor who can provide funding to our cause"
>>
>>33769290
>>33769395
I think that sums it up nicely.
>>
>>33765443
It also doesn't help Genie sometimes you need to cater to new players. For example saying something basic like "Choose a civ to play and pick a single HQ from their possible list" how would someone know you're only supposed to pick on HQ and these aren't all part of the package?
>>
Okay, so that big thing I'm working on I want to post but I have to be away till at least the end of the day because work which sucks.

It's a moderately fluffed out civilization with branched out civ choices for all the civ options and reasons I think we should play in these planets.
>>
>>33773015
I would say that sounds good. But got to see it first.

I still like a nomad style(Homeworld) or XCOM, taking the fight to the enemy.
>>
Bump it.
>>
>>33769154

Genie's quests are pretty under the radar for those who are long time devotees, i think it's less that newbies 'realize it's the same one that's been going on for ages' and more that they come in expecting a bullshittingly simple creation process, and then are unwilling/unable to be creative about civ creation in the way Genie likes.

“For Emperor and Dominion.”

These words reverberated throughout the collective psyche of all citizens of the , though perhaps in a more literal sense than at first glance. Ruling from their capital planet of Acerbus, their interstellar empire stretches vast distances with many, many colonies among the limitless stars.

Once the old Acerbus Kingdom, and then the Republic, the Dominion was formed through the cuthroat, and unstoppable political machinations of one Supreme Minister Valkemeen, who not only rose to an astonishing height of power rapidly but completely remade the Republic into starflung Empire in his image. Perhaps one such explanation for how one man could attain such power are the rumors of him being a powerful master of the Dark-Psi, and stories spread about him shooting death from his fingertips. To no small degree of credit must also be given to Valkemen's right hand man, the Viscount Dareth, himself also an acolyte of the Dark-Psi and a cyborg, who has thwarted every single assasination attempt and brutally taken out all the enemies of the Emperor. His reign has been one forged in blood and fire, but nonetheless, under Valkemeen's rule Acerbus has seen unprecedented expansion and advancement the likes of which has not been seen, and public faith in the Empire has never been higher. The ruthlessness of their methods of assimilation and domination, taking the new races and technology they find and bending to their will, are a contributing factor to their ever growing size. It should be said though, that their reach tends to escape their grasp, for they have many far flung colonies and operations across this galaxy, and these are but a brief list of those:

Base Type: Garrisoned Complex
Planet: Terraformed – Planet Elum I
Sponsor: Write in -Viceroy Alexandran
Government Remnant Speciality: Paramilitary – All forces are automatically, or at least eventually, trained as per Dominion mandatory military service

------

Fluff: Planet Elum I, closer to the edge of Dominion home regions, was chosen for Terraformation due to it's ideal location as both in proximity to its sun and its planetary location as central hub for intersterllar travel and resupply. Now that the terraformation process is complete, the colonization and securing of the planet is in order, as such, Viceroy Alexandran of the Dominion has been personally charged with overseeing the logistic and infrastructural support of a budding colony on the new planet, who's expense costs are rather extravagant.

This colony is constantly being flooded to the brim with new settlers and population growth due to the hospitableness of the planet, all ready to farm, build, and if need be, fight to expand the Dominion as any loyal citizen serving Emperor Valkemeen ought to do. Per Dominion standards, all able bodied citizens are to undergo mandatory training for military service. With patience and perserverance, it was hoped Elum would become yet another Hiveworld in the Dominion supplying the ever growing needs and soldiers.

-----

Name: Hyrelian Free Corps
Type: Paramilitary
Base Type: Military Base
Planet: Dead – Onyx VI
Sponsor: Torn Veteran – Commander Uriah

-----

Fluff: The Planet Hyrelia is a harsh inhospitable world, some say worse than dead, who's hardened citizens churns out some of the Dominions most elite and fanatically loyal soldiers. Once but long ago, the Dominion waged terrible war to conquer the fledgling hypermilitarized nation, the Hyrelians inflicting horrible horrible losses on the Dominion , until at last both sides near the brink of exhaustion the Dominion so impressed by their vigor and skill granted them complete autonomy and full reparations in exchange for their undue loyalties. Threatened with total annihilation, and in thought of the future of their people, they agree. They now serve as some of the Dominions best forces.

In fact, they now serve as one of the Dominions most fanatically loyal forces. An explanation might be found in Hyrelian quote, who once said “it was the Dominion who bathed us in blood and fire and brought out our military finesse to perfection. And for that, we thank them.”

Their society who was even more so engrossed in martial honor than the Dominion was, the terrible war on them only enhanced it, and military pride embedded into their cultural psyche is unmatched. Hyrelians learn how to strip and repair a beam-rifle and pass the trial to hunt a thorlax before they learn to read and write, and even their women undergo military training that would be the equivalent of what the average male Dominion trooper elsewhere would experience. On the dead planet of Onyx VI, the Dominion has set up a military research and training facility. On the harsh dead world of Onyx VI, Hyrelians continue their intense training with suit combat in inhabitable locations and production and integration of both old and new technologies at their disposal.

The Hyrelians distinctive feature is their constant wear of breathing masks and glowing sight boosting visors that were vital to their survival on their homeworld. That being said Hyrelians traditions of being a small elite and coordinated force, combined with the extreme inhospitableness of a dead planet, would normally mean a critically low population. However, the Dominions ever present need for more highly trained and coordinated forces and the general makeup of their culture provides for a few measures to boost their numbers. Hyrelian's are consider themselves all children of the war god, as such it is not uncommon for them to bring their families to central bases on tours of duties. Normally this would be a sign of soldierly unprofessionalism however for them this is different, instead it only serves to boost them and their progeny by having their children grow up in a militaristic background. In addition, from across the dominion soldiers who prove themselves on the field of battle and show a degree for combat and leadership are brought to bases such as this one for further training into more elite forces as well as incentives to spread their genes and raise further soldiers.

They are sponsored by Veteran Commander Uriah, a Hyrelian himself, who sees this as an opportunity to expand Hyrelia in the name of the Dominion.

Name: Dominion Research Facility #478
Type: Think Tank
Base Type: Research Facility
Planet: Dead – Onyx VI
Sponsor: Twisted Genius – Minister of Infantry Weapons Technologies Dr. Krout Hoffman
Tech Speciality: Weapons and Infantry offensive technology
Fluff: This think tank specializes in advanced weapons technologies for the purpose of arming and aiding military forces. Everything from new types of energy guns, stealth or strength enhancements embedded into suits, to jetpacks and extreme thermal survivability suits, you will often see it and such other similar Dominion think tanks attached to Paramilitary or standard Army forces to provide both research on current weapons and potential improvements.

When soldiers encounter a thick acidic goo that stops them in their tracts, it's up to them to develop a suit strong enough to withstand it. When troops are faced with heavily armored foes that rip right through them, their job is to see about suit mechanical enhancements to boost infantry strength to resist and overcome, as well as special ammunition and tactics to pierce their thick hides. This degree of flexibility and ideal adaptability to whichever military force aquires them makes them both an excellent producer of new weapons designs for Megacorporations or Paramilitary to produce and use.

Their other speciality is the assimilation of xenos technology and strange new elements and energies and applying it in potential military usage.

In particular, the one on Onyx VI is sponsored by Dr. Krout Hoffman, Minister of Infantry Weapons Technologies, a prominent member of the Hoffman dynasty which is a leading weapons developer for the Dominion, and heavily works in tandem with the military.

>Note, this is a suggested and preferable Think Tank for possibly Hybridization with above Paramilitary. Standalone Think Tank incoming.

Tech Speciality: Base Defense

----

Fluff: This Think Tank is devoted to the continuing development of a wide array of new weapons and tools to ensure the survivability of Dominion holdings in even the most hostile places. In particular, this Research Facility was placed in a Volcanic planet, which though provides a boon to warfare and manufacturing, would hinder the research of any other race. But not this Think Tank.

Their goal is to develop countermeasures and tools to prevent the destruction that often befalls so many other colonies. The lack of available water and food in such molten conditions is solved via Water Manufacturing via water synthesis of hydrogen and oxygen found in natural gas. Advanced Hydroponics with use the light and heat found in lava pools. Hyper cooling devices which function via entropic acceleration to turn even a deep pool of lava into a sturdy stone foundation. Special undergroud detectors, sensors, shields, and turrets. Everything that could cause ultimate disaster for a base in extreme conditions, from lack of life support to danger, it's up to them to develop countermeasures and weapons.

They are sponsored by the Minister Azarius, a fellow man of thought and ingenuity, some even call Genius, who firmly believes the success of such research as carried out by these Think Tanks are vital to the survival of the Dominion across the stars, as well as his own personal reputation.

Fluff: Sometimes enough is never enough. Someitmes it's not enough for a Prince to just own his own nation or inherit one of the largest family fortunes. And for the ultra wealthy elite of the Dominion, ruling over the lower classes like gods, sometimes, they want to own their own planet.

Prince Kassan has just “purchased” his own Ice Planet of Ischa all to himself. The only problem is he doesn't even control it. So rather than go through the trouble of dominating it himself, he spread some money here and there and got together a ragtag group of colonists itching for a new life and a second chance. Promising them to cater to their needs when he can, their only job is to set the place up for him. The Planet Ischa is less rarely known for it's various hot springs and mountains, but that truly is all Kassan cares for. His goal is to one day relax sipping coconut milk in a hot spring under a glass dome while blizzards rage all around, but to do that it's up to these colonists to simply survive, much less relax.

And what do you do when you have far too many criminals, thieves, military traitors, deserters, and above all, pirates, threatening to boil over your prison systems?

You solve both problems at once.

The idea was that bandits, being be far more capable of looting and using captured technology and surviving independent of military supply, would perform excellent here to disrupt the enemy and take over their facilities. The Dominion is known to have thrown entire Penal Colonies and Mega Prison populations here, promising free amnesty to all once the planet has been taken over. Now these once idyllic oceans where utopian floating cities dwelled are plagued by some of the most vicious pirates and brigands ever seen, and their numbers only keep growing. Using the technology and resources stolen against them they've done what entire fleets of Dominion ships could not.

To this effect, notorious pirate lord and “Captain” Zack Barrow has like so many other bandit lords and thieving kings, not passed up this great opportunity and has invested in his own personal penal colony all to himself. Now it's up these freed prisoners to see if his investments will pay off.

Base Type: Believers Base
Planet: Marsh

----

Fluff: As per command of Emperor Valkemeen, all psykers and psionic sensitive individuals are to be gathered and trained in the arts of the Dark-Psi under special Dominion facilities. Here they are trained in the ways of the Will, the invisible presence and mover that all Dominion psionics attribute themselves to. This particular training trains in Telekenesis, using the Dark-Psi to lift massive objects or stop bullets and energy in their tracts with great shields either as single servants or even greater power as a group effort. In addition, the traditional arts of Laserblade combat are revived and exemplified in all those who manage to survive the training here. The express purpose of this is to train out more Knights of the Dominion.

They are, like other Psyker training facilities, sponsored by their own respective member of Dark Church, this one has Inquisitor Lorn. It's up to him to handle the ongoing continuation and proliferation of this facility as it takes in more and more Psykers brought from the farthest regions of the Dominion.

Such facilities are noted to often work closely with the Acolytes of the Dark-Psi, the branch who deals directly with the cult of the Dark-Psi and delving into its secrets, and it isn't unknown for hybrid facilities to be formed in addition to pure psyker training facilities.

Type: Mutants
Base Type: Research Complex
Planet: Ice – Tallorn IV
Sponsor: Write In – Dr. Dor'van, Sanctioned Mutant and former (defunct) Brood Father

Fluff: These facilities are where the undesirables, mutants, and xenos end up in the grand scheme of the Dominions plans for Galactic Domination. Here, instead of simply being purged and killed when found on their homeworlds, these mutants are given the chance to serve the Dominion and make something more of themselves. One the Icy World of Tallorn IV, these mutants must band together to both use their abilities towards their survival in both this planet and beyond, as their success could mean salvation for their misbegotten race. Indeed, should the mutants impress the Dominion with their abilities, their genes and children may be spared, even given their own home. Such tales of how a particularly rare brand of mutant who secreted juices that aided in human fertility ended up gaining their own terraformed and completely secured paradise world, drive these forgotten forward into making themselves greater than the sum of their parts.

The population of such facilities, though always slow to increase, is always bolstered by the seemingly never ending flow of mutants and xenos as part of the Ethnic and Genetic purity programs of the Empire. Perhaps it is their luck that Dor'van, a former “Brood Father” and one of the beings who were so blessed by Dominion interest in boosting population, took sympathy upon them. He and his few kind had been granted near limitless resource to where they managed to mutate themselves to a point where they for all intents looked 100% human, and is a decently respected individual in the Dominion eschelon even for a mutant. He seeks to give to those other mutants the same chance that were given to him and his kind.

Base Type: Constructive Core
Planet: Terraformed – Ordon VII
Sponsor: Twisted Genius – Minister of Robotics and Borg Research Klyne

---

Fluff: Due to the nature of Terraformed Worlds still not being safe to invasion or unseen danger, the idea was proposed that directly after Terraformation a series of self-automated and regulating robots, capable of manufacturing more of their kind and expanding their jurisdiction, should precede colonization efforts by fully securing the planet.

Several of these experiements are out there, including this one here on Ordon VII. The Rathos III Automated Planetary Security system is designed to allow robots the mining, manufacturing, and fighting abity to both expand and use natural resources to produce more robots in a self-sustained perpetual growth and development. These robots are charged with the complete domination and control of the Planet in the name of the Dominion. Once that has been achieved, colonization can begin now with the added benefit of a fully armed and automated protection force to bolster the normal Dominion Army and Local Planetary Defense. With a wide array of tools and technology and supplies of the planet at their disposal, it is hoped that the investement put into such units would not be in vain. The Minister of Robots and Borg Research Klyne himself is invested in this colony, although if it fails there are others to be looked to, so it is in the interest of these drones not to fail for their sake.

The setting

First and foremost all of my creations...are connected. They all share the same setting but just different parts of it different dimensions if you will.

This means exactly what it means.

Crossovers can and do happen. Its downright expected in some cases but there tends to be certain stuff holding it back.

This current sci fi setting...or i should say. Well for this specific one I was planning to avoid the pre fall climate. Meaning there are several stuff I could use a bits and pieces of setting I never quite unleashed. Now what to use...well I'll tell you.

This galaxy was the milky way. Once upon a time long ago a certain human arose on earth and managed to take over founding the now infamous and long dead Terran Empire. Upon his supposed death the Empire became a republic and it grew.

One day certain foes were encountered and by this time the Republic had grown fat and lazy. With opposition arising all over. However all were swept aside. The empire collapsed and humanity was on the run. It seemed humanity was doomed facing extinction.

That was when the impossible happened.
>>33786462
>Not smart anon

FUCK THERE'S ANOTHER ONE.

TIMEZ TO TAKE DA EMERGENCY CODE BLUE CODE BLUE.

Rolled 37, 15, 82, 55, 92 = 281

The Terran Empire arose you see by the leader of mankind using the first super soldiers and robotic assistance including something...more.

That one conquered the Earth before rapidly expanding into the Stars. The Empire grew strong under the leader but then one day it decayed. Suddenly the leader died and as it turned out that one had plans for it to exist long past death.

The goal was simple become the necessary evil and forcefully kick start humanity. By whatever means necessary this as first done by making himself the enemy then after death encountering a nonhuman enemy.

The military might the republic was quickly decaying as many of the old military forces were hated for being suppressors and thrown on to the edges...not to mention the best military tech was built in a such a manner as to only be availble to throne and due to ethical concerns were strictly gotten rid of by the now 'freed' peoples. the remnants of which and old guard were cast aside. Far in the fringes in wretched garrisons seemingly overlooking an enemy that never came.

Inside meanwhile the Republic began to collapse due to infighting colonies were separating. That was when THEY came.

From outside a force blasted through an inhuman force. The reckoning as many liked to call it. Somehow however against all odds those garrisons held for just long enough for a message to get sent out...along with proof.

Suddenly humanity had an outside foe and so during the greatest times of humanity faced off against the enemy.
>>
Rolled 94, 16, 79, 87, 5 = 281

>>33786724
And what a fight that was alas it did not seem enough. They poured in from everywhere overwhelming humanity. So a last ditch effort was prepared as men, women, and children bled.

Alas they did not have enough time.

That was when the impossible happened.

The might and glory of the Empire arose once more. The last remnants of humanity's forces and those long forgotten. The leader of mankind itself reappeared after being 'dead' for so long. So there they committed their last stand before the eyes of those final ditch. Their last views was of the ragged scattered survivors and the forgotten holding off the tide while they finished up then escaping.

or so the stories go.

somehow humanity lived on due to failsafe of the long forgotten Empire. Though much was lost. The scattered survivors did however eventually pick themselves up.
Or so that is one sci fi setting to explain it all.

The other one is a bit more fanciful but still gritty.

That one however seems to be what your after with your psionics and brood.

Meaning...well enjoy heheh.

Welcome to Pre Fall.

Where super geniuses make the impossible possible, where artificial Intelligences aren't always out to get you, while Umbra was still a deadly threat, megacorps fighting bitterly over profits, governments fail to govern, and more.

Welcome where the specials were being figured out and where being super was brought down to the common man. Here psi was believed to be magic and supers were being brought down to everyone's supposed level.

Where death and greatness is optional.

Here earth as you know it may have existed if it wasn't for certain...problems.

or perhaps this is entirely alien?

Maybe this is the same setting? Maybe this is but a piece of the bigger picture.
>>

In this world or should i say galaxy...no perhaps universe?

Here the fanciful is reality. Here mankind had far less qualms with biotech and with the help of supers made it to the stars far sooner then they should have(super geniuses AHOY). While certain problems weren't quite figured out and the singular fall has yet to occur.

I shall now offer some examples of each of the forces.

First with megacorps

Umbra: Legendary for their stealth tech and having connections everywhere also stealing everyone's shit their working on. You think what you got is special? Hope you enjoy an Umbra rip off. Hence allowing them to be competitive not by specializing or good invests oh no but reathe...by less their savory means even by Megacorp standards. these bastards are amazing with their damned shadowplays.

Logibo: Legendary for their logistics of whom even other megacorps often use despite having their own...of course they never admit such things. People in this corp hate their lives due to LOGISTICS but everyone not loves them for being bros. To bad they can't seem to do that for each other.

Morok: A company that rose to prominence for the sheer fact they were the first to realize and exploit how stinking rich you can get mining/harvesting in space. Even now their industrial tools and expansions are still legendary especially due to their fondness of small family businesses and prospectors. Of whom they sell to and create some of their prized Morok Busters capable of chowing through entire worlds or even sucking gas giants to death.

Terko: A small company of lowly researchers and investors who began working on their objective long before it was even remotely thought possible. Because they had a dream. It took a long time slowly ever so slowly working their way up getting what they needed. when they made their reveal around the time others finally caught on they were called crazy and not possible. They were proven wrong as a world was terraformed.
>>
>>33787102
Adero too took to the stars right? Please? I made the fluff for you!

Adero: Legendary for their energy based technologies and turning energy into materials, they outclassed the competition in terms of shielding, energy weapons, and fuel efficiency allowing their ships to reach places and reach them first where no other could.
>>
>>33787186
*their ability to start manufacturing simply by orbiting stars and absorbing solar radiation gave them an edge that, while nowhere close as productive as the resources of Morok or others, gave them a significant edge as others needed to set up and securing mining operations first.

Governments

the Torpid Combine the first of the colonies to separate. They unlike all those who tried before them succeeded together. Even now those lowly planets having long since each become powerhouses are very close as time wore on instead of distancing they became closer.

Federal Union
An odd federation where each of the smaller parts are free to govern themselves however they please. However they must all bow before the Federation as a whole. Noted for despite being incredibly different but still at least loosely united as a whole despite appearances. There are limits. Umbra is so powerful due to be a bunch of thieving cheating sneaky assholes. corps hate the sons of bitches due to them constantly getting ripped off by them even from their 'specialties' as umbra is barely if ever only a few steps behind due to obvious reasons.

Adero is known for their light related work in particular their fucking lasers. An Adero Laser Lance is fucking a big stick of pure fuck you and their laser batteries are like trying to dodge a searing light show coming from all directions.

Some of their most 'infamous' weapons is the 'fireworks' codename light rocket.

Basically a torpedo which upon detonation unleashes an entire lightshow of lasers hence quite like a fireworks display.

No one thought such a thing could work so well until its sudden reveal. Not even Umbra saw it coming and had thought such a thing was doomed for failure hence never bothered ripping it off.

Boy did they regret it especially considering how long adero maintained a monopoly making an utter killing.

Thanks to those 'rockets' the usual problem of wasted torpedo was no longer a issue which alone was huge deal...plus it was just so damned pretty and awesome looking.

They are also quite good at manipulating energy and in particular their specialty of light of course.

Governments continued

Imperial League
a bunch of 'noble' houses who worked together realizing that they alone with their families were in a bad spot alone and they could always deal with others by a much safer means. however politics are rife same with modification among the upper echelons due to them needing to maintain their 'nobility'. The royal house as in current top dog of the insane clusterfuck of politics is the only house that can really force them to play 'nice'(getting along is too much even for them to make happen) and deal with outside threats.

United Peoples Worlds
Originally a legit democracy but anyone with half a brain will realize that they are in fact mob ruled and governed by the rich. An oligarchy in all but name. The people unfortunately tend not to realize this fact and those that do have the habit of ending up as settlers to escape it.

Freed Empire
Led by the Empress or better known as a so called dictator. No one knows how such a mighty empire could arise in such a wartorn fucked up part of space but it did. Somehow got a bunch of military types and even pirates together who took entire worlds and actually viciously fought back against the countless Foes. Unbelievably started off on a lost nigh overrun backwater world deep in the core fringes.

still waiting for those last two ideas anon.

and feel free to rip off any of these as their just examples.

Paramilitary

2 public and 3 private.

Public First

United Federation Forces

Made up of the required offerings of forces to the federation as a whole they are an utter hot podge of forces...do not underestimate them. Having such a varying supply secures a disturbing amount of adaptability they literally have the perfect force for any problem. Now getting them there and supplied on the other hand may be problematic. To counter this the basic forces are offered a Federal standardized kitting hence ignoring what they may have been using specialized gear they may have been using before. This is only however true unless they are the elite in which case they are given with what they are most familiar and more.

A federation individual member forces are expected to do at least one tour with the Union forces. The benefits besides partnership is possible special training that they may decide to take home with them creating the elite of their homes or if they stay gain the chance of becoming an elite of the whole Union. Many elites actually find themselves home before missing the Union gigs and thus reenlisting for that chance.

Knight Houses
In the league military valor can earn one becoming a noble and thus a warrior caste was eventually formed. These members of both those proven or even raised up among them have become the elite of the Imperial League. Here these so called houses thrive in war and offer their elite services to whoever.

While other houses are use to politicking thus often referred as cunningly brutal the knights have instead been referred to as brutally cunning for the sheer fact of their 'elaborate' bluntness of stabbing you in the face instead of the back. Often in open battle instead of poisoned drink.

Yazko Company
A private army known for their snazzy as in having the newest and often flashiest toys. Often their services are expensive and only the megarich can afford their flashy services but the rich can't help be tickled by just how 'proper' these fellows are and such a sign of status their services require. Often enough made up of bored rich kids specially got themselves prepped and old veterans who simply want to make a lot of money with top quality armaments.

Neshalog Incorporated Army
What happens when you not only have a bunch of soldiers be connected to each other mentally? Not only that but also that their 'fodder' forces are using a bunch of cheap bots and clones controlled from afar?

Not fun that is what this unholy combo never seen before quickly proved utterly devastating. First comes the tide of 'gamer drones' which alone causes problems then you have a bunch of hive minded badasses slipping in through the chaos for that final fuck you.

Merc Hive

Sometimes you don't just want to hire so many guys or sometimes you like some variety. Sometimes you don't have enough guys to go out on your own or perhaps you like picking an choosing contracts.

Merc Hive allows options and choices. Put out a request and see who bites variety is the spice of life as they say. So why not enjoy some variety of serves for a single request with details?

Merc hive while being highly mixed and not quite solid forces offers a way to allow both the contractors of both sides to meet their expectations by their own choice. While other 'proper' companies like to retort their lack of policy and non homogenous nature. Its a cold hard fact that each and everyone of them has suffered at least one loss in both battle and bid to them.

I'd say we've sacrificed far more zombies than anything else, though we still have a ways to go.

I am hoping that our unbreakable faith in the gods (I mean it IS the Prophet and very real will of the gods via cast lots that we select members for the sacrifice) will reduce the chance of rebellion.

Certainly, making it a religious festival in addition to the survivors becoming chosen warriors of the gods while the fallen feed us all. My hope is our people celebrate the sacrifices as necessary and invoking the blessing and favor of our gods.

Well besides there being a gas giant, colonial world, volcanic world with a shipyard overhanging it with a space elevator. You noticed something peculiar while refueling from the gas giant refueling station.

Besides the usual seasonal passing of ship caravans. That was offering the usual wares form core worlds, peoples, resources, and materials. Alas they weren't likely to be interested in you due to your non colonial status and being a single measly ship. Not like you have anything to offer anyway. Shit you don't even got a damned colony warrant or have the civilians signed papers for certain shenanigan coverage.

While doing a pass of the system with scanners however against all odds...you detected a stealth ship presence was pinged as it get hit by a particularly large piece of debris causing a ripple RIGHT at the perfect time for you to pick up on it.

Discovered Shadowed Ghost Vessel floating aimlessly.

You scans also a wild planet way beyond the system. It seems to have BARELY been in range and you only just picked up on it while on the very edge of the system. You know its trajectory so can easily find it...for now.

Smart guys, you stay back and be ready to shuffle whereever you're needed most.

Bots, you guys work in the vacuum while Civies work on the wrecks and we scavenge whatever we can in tandem. Priority is wrecks which can be salvaged to movement status and hauled out of the mess.

Any of you guys with military training who ain't on guard duties head in Drop Pods or any carriers we have to investigate the ghost ship. We'll stay back to provide support if needed.

Civilians were able to pick up 4 ships and get them into somewhat functional condition. All it took was a bit of patchwork and duck tape. They have alerted us that there may be some survivors often in some kind of stasis or hiding considering the sweeps.

the bots meanwhile seem be busy slapping stuff together in an odd pile...

Military forces penetrate through the stealth field revealing a battle scarred craft. There they successfully boarded finding the evidence of battles...but that has become scoured clean. Inside the place is clearly heavily advanced and we have sent in some of researchers.

Manufacture is of unknown origin for now from what we can determine.

They do indeed though thier current 'AI' is shit.

Apparently we managed to get all the easy stuff as whats coming after is isn't nearly so quick still though we made a moderate amount of progress.

Still we managed to secure another ship this one a frigate of human origin.

The telling them your private contractors doesn't ease some of them who demand to know who your contracted to if possible. The other ones meanwhile are soothed before giving information regarding how this became quite the cluster fuck as a basically a band of pirates decided to hit a caravan...problem is by the time they got here they were already gone instead there was a nasty surprise.

The professional soldiers Commander recognizes especially once they stated about a certain someone's name....

your mothership is insane and will only become more so once i figure out more of those damned stats...

fucking HQ nomad aka mothership.

Still one thing you need to realize is that as a fleet you lose your ships its game over. While if you have a colony you aren't utterly fucked.

Fighters/bombers in sci fi...don't use pilots. Instead they are controlled like Drones or by an AI. Much like missiles but are reusable as well.

Basically a sci fi carrier has holds upon holds of drone/bot fighters/bombers fully ready and willing to terror you a new asshole.

Sci Fi missile boats basically have ass tons of torpedo bays and firing devices basically they unleash a hale of smart one time missiles ready to load up. Quite devastating still and actually cheaper then a true carrier(dem fighters/bombers ain't cheap). Not to mention better at taking hits surprisingly enough.

You should check out the rocket batteries they use dumb bombs and seem to be a poor mans missile really on numbers and lack of range(see good aim). Except for a few patterns that upon 'missing' go mine mode when they miss. Always a rude surprise for those who underestimate the humble rocket.

A simple but devastating ship is the humble rocket boat who will try to close in then unleash a devastating hail of rockets. Sure they seem simple and easy to kill but holy hell do they pack one hell of a punch. Makes those light fast fragile ships so much meaner especially considering the lack of care over rocket weakness due to already being fragile as hell

A rocket boat who makes a good run has not been known to take down ships far above their own size range.

Too bad their fragile and massive ammoholics.

Other fun stuff include the classic battleships weaving into combat with their massive cannons attempting to snipe their foe from afar. Easier said then done a deadly slow game in the great empty void of space.

Then you have the crazy ass new patterns Dreadnaught class who loaded up with heavy ass armor charge fearlessly into the thick of combat. Most would assume they would never make it until you realize these ships are the biggest fans of energy weaponry. Enjoy your laser batteries blasting and plasma cannon ready to happily eat your shields and terror through all that lies underneath.

The sheer raw devastating power that is plasma is insane problem is its utter shit range. Some have tried to fix this but no matter what you do it all pales in comparison before the insane might of the plasma bloom tearing everything in its way into nothingness.

It took a long while to make it better for range but it still doesn't remotely compare to the awesome that is a plasma bloom firing from a plasma cannon.

Most aliens thought humanity utterly insane for the dreadnaught class if it wasn't for their ludicrous effectiveness as it makes a mockery of typical space combat due to range issues. The dreadnaught is all about giving the finger to this assumption.

>>33810533

>"So could we perform any useful operations here? How do you suggest we set out, we're thinking of the usual scouting run but your input is always welcome."
This is a question directed at the commander and is a question of what sort of options for useful actions we can do in this wildplanet as well as how we should get started, in particular if he would advise reconaisance of the system with our ships
>>
Rolled 93

>>33810659
Humanity is most well known for their infamous juggernaut and dreadnaught class of ship.

Dreadnaughts give up on the sheer volume of weapons inexchange for heavier armor while keeping a few critical weapon systems.

Juggernauts are the oppostite.

They give up armor in exchange for massive volume of weapons. Not quite so fragile as a carrier but definitely up there they keep their distance and utterly pummel them from afar.

Most well known for their gauss cannons and macro cannons unleashing a torrential downpouring firepower down range. And when you think that is finally enough? Enjoy your lasers and torpedoes.

The juggernauts are huge battleship and attempt to jam as much weapons into themselves as possible as possible. The longer range the better but that doctrine has certainly proven a rude surprise when some bastard gets close enough to discover much to their horror the rocket batteries unleashing their hails on those who falsely believed that being close makes you 'safe' from their wrath.

One shouldn't underestimate the armor of a juggernaut though that while they do focus on overwhelming power they do avoid the glass cannon trope. They just unlike their dreadnaughts shy away from close quarters.

Dreadnaughts had to focus on heavy armor to fully utilize their collective strategy with a few key weapons.

Beware Dreadnaught laser batteries as unlike most these ones are always the 'supercharged' variant to go along with the utter energy hog that is plasma. So while they are attempting to close expect especially powerful lasers before the death whose herald is the dreaded plasma bloom coming from the firing shot of the plasma cannon. Its also worth noting that Dreadnaughts tend to be one of the few heavier classes of ships that still employs rockets. As when they divert the energy that would be feeding the laser batteries to the plasma cannon they can still unleash a battery along with it.

this is a infamous trio weapon combo when not dealing with the classic duality of laser and plasma. trio became popular when much stronger lasers started becoming a thing.

Plasma cannons even on smaller ships have been known to utterly wreck ships in one's weight class and cripple those higher up.

I don't know, we gave you legitimate plans and actual details on the function of railguns on numerous occasions but it always seemed to boil down to "lack of certain parts". So even when we had the magnets, the ammunition, the electronics and targeting systems and everything in place there was always some element missing that ONLY our magical civs ever had.

It's safe to say that even if you have everything necessary for the production of railguns, which we had in the past numerous times, they will still fail without these mysterious "certain parts" which always seemed to be of a fantastical nature.

It was a so simple...yet also a major problem it waasss

Energy.

Power.

The problem with smaller powerful weapons is lack of power to make the damn things which was why railguns were limited to such large vessels that could actually afford to lug around the needed energy generator to power the damn thing.

the fact they FINALLY got it down to easy tank size was a HUGE improvement. Like holy hell was it big. The next big score was easy handheld model before well...yeah.

Sadly hand held models were still avoiding the majority. Only stuff of 'odd' manufacture could figure out and they were extremely rare.

...Adero had more energy than any civ to date, fueled by geothermal energy from a volcano in a volcanic setting capable of setting up a massive shield around their tower as well as a giant Tesla coil. They even had mini-reactors in addition to Hydrogen synthesized fuel.

Memor had their own biofuel production facilities, and enough mini-reactors to power Super Tank and Behemoth armies.

Yet each of them lacked the raw power make and fire a railgun? Even a simple giant base mounted one?

That's probably the part we're missing here. We keep dying and can't recover.

We have a hard time brushing ourselves off and becoming stronger when the nat1s seem to be more deadly than they ever were back in those days where we could lose the equivalent of 3 later civs of population and survive.
>>
>>33812683
They didn't have any energy because at that point the Ghouls were still hogging the reactor section of the base.

They did not have a SINGLE mini-reactor even.

The Memor weren't all that great at recovering losses due to mutants...but they recruited like mad.

Kicker is the bloodsnow did the same and they didn't have the penalties for pop growth.

while many civs have had good heroes even a few shit slappers that wasn't solely it.

NO.

Even with the Guanyin who I gave awesome heroes because I thought that would work...

but it wasn't enough.

Not even a shit slapper hero(who are admitedly damn useful for avoiding pit falls and slapping sense into people) are quite enough.

Not quite that either...while both DO extend civ life admittedly.

No...

Its ALL THREE.

Memor had good heroes.
Memor had good 'recovery'.
Memor had shit slappers.

This trinity allowed them the greatest life expectancy.

It was ALL THREE.

So there you go. The secret of the Memor's success even if you end up in an utter shit hole.

So now the question isn't how you can COMPARE but rather how to BEAT?

What did the Memor do wrong or what could you do better?

Eh, whatwashisname wanted a giant coilgun...when the Memor had little/no engineering experience with railgun type weaponry.

>As for managing a civ wisely...eh I have yet to see.
Wasn't V101 relatively wisely managed? I mean, we managed to walk along the razor's edge long enough to win...if that doesn't qualify as wise management then I don't know what does.

Yes, I have high hopes for the Cultists. The only thing that they're perhaps lacking on is the heroes aspect...but the Prophetess' ability is really quite invaluable on that note.

We need to figure out some way to boost their recruitment (probably just by becoming more famous). We already receive handfuls of new recruits every now and then, but it'd be nice if we were receiving hundreds instead of dozens at a time. It'd probably help if we could spectacularly obliterate that GOD FUCKING DAMN ZOMBIE/MONSTER HIVE THAT'S SITTING ON OUR FUCKING RESOURCES.

I maintain v101 DID NOT win.
They made the whole world really sad for a second.
The grim bleakness of the world became shockingly apparent to everybody all at once.
Nobody wins in the post apoc. Ever.

Bloodsnow won by controlling and dominating their whole island, and living to this day.
V101 won by the fact that the survivors now live in relatively good Umbra employee positions and have at last found a chance to use their think tank potential.

Conversly, even if the tribal survivors lived, that was slavery, so definitely not a win there.

Memor had Crazy super Psionic railguns powered by psionic crystals and regular railguns and some of the best damn engineers out there.

Also anon if you're reading this, know that I hope you and anyone else who played the cultists stick around because I swear to god we are gonna go back to them some day.
