You are Christopher Phillips, previously just another teenage nerd living in a small English town, and a lot of things have changed in your life since you died.

It takes a moment to remember this, as you wake up. For just a second, the most important thing on your mind is that it must be quite late in the morning, and you’ll probably be late for school. And then it all slowly drifts into focus, and you remember that school is over for the summer, that you have plenty of other things to worry about in the first place, and that the warm, soft sensation filtering up from one of your arms is caused by Jill lying on it, still fast asleep. Extracting your arm without waking her is a feat of superhuman dexterity. (Fortunately, you happen to have superhuman dexterity. It’s still tricky, though.) You pause for a moment to appreciate the complete lack of pins and needles in your arm, and then slowly dress, trying not to disturb Jill in the process.

You’re sitting at your desk, laptop on and flicking through a multitude of browser tabs, when you hear Jill yawning from behind you. You turn to see her sitting up and stretching away the various aches of sleep. It’s a very nice view.

“Morning, Chris. What are we doing today?” she asks, between stretches. It’s a good question, really. Last night’s victory party was lovely, but there are still a couple of loose ends to tidy up before you can relax and have a nice long summer with no crises or drama. There’s one particular one that you feel you ought to save for last - it just seems right somehow, like bookends - but in the meantime, you should probably pick one of the smaller loose ends to tidy up first.

She's an active problem, best not to give her any more time than we already have (which was probably far too much), whereas Masami and Louie's problems are something that can be left on the backburner for at least a little bit.
>>
>>34090250
[x]Cassandra
She's actively draining people, and that brings the heat down on our operation. We don't want mundane attention on this town.
Masami is an immediate second, though. We want to convince her that staying human is something she wants (or at least, stay human for a lifetime or two).
Can't really fault her for wanting immortality, but there's so many great things in the human world (new anime, watching her friends act out yaoi fantasies in the school locker room showers) that she should consider asking Dagon for a hold on her transformation.
>>
>>34090355
The problem with Masami's case is that we don't know when she'll get The Call. It might be next year, or it might be next week.

Louie, though, I think we can comfortably put on the backburner, since his thing is just getting his pelt back, and it's not like there's a time limit (that I can think of) for that.

As for Cassandra, I think we should first recruit Annabelle and confer with Isabelle.
Annabelle, because she's a ghost and having someone who can walk through walls will be useful.
Isabelle, because she bound Cassandra once before, and we can consider if we should bind her again, or if we should just destroy her this time.

((Unanimous vote for Cassandra, and a plan of attack too. Excellent. Writing now.))

The most urgent of your current problems is Cassandra. People disappearing draws attention, and you're not yet secure enough that you could survive sustained attention on the town by mortal authorities. She's the most active concern, and the only one likely to carry on getting worse and worse until you act. Best to nip this one in the bud, before she kills someone useful or disrupts your plans in some other way.

Isabella knows Cassandra best. Fortunately you're fairly sure she's still here, in the next room over. You try to quietly nudge her over your telepathic link, as far as telepathy has a 'quiet' setting. It ought to. You think.

'Hey, Belle. Are you up yet?'

'Mmmmoh Chris hey give me a minute okay?'

You'll take that as a yes.

'Right, sorry, you wanted something?'

'Just wanted to pick your brains about Cassandra. Didn't mean to interrupt anything.'

'No, it's okay. I've got a few minutes to chat while I wait.'

'Wait for - never mind. Anyway, Cassandra. You bound her to your service before, right? Is that a trick we can - or should - repeat?'

You feel the mental equivalent of a shrug. 'Maybe, I guess. She was useful - strong, tough, fast like you wouldn't believe, charming - but she was tricky to keep in line. I didn't have perfect control over her actions or anything, just a whip that kept her in line. If she really wants to fight you, she will. You'd have to persuade her she was better off staying on your good side. And I'm not sure you can offer her quite the hedonistic lifestyle that I did.'

'Okay. What about finding her?'

'Look for parties and drunk people, I guess? I had her number, but she might not pick up now.'

'We should look for Annabelle as well, the ghost girl. Might be handy to have with us.'

'Sure - her address is public record, and I doubt she has much else to do. I recommend a light touch, though.'

[x]Go have a chat with Annabelle
We need to make Annabelle our minion, before Avril can take her for her own. Avril provided her with that Glamour that lets her have some physical presence; we need to be able to give her that and more.

As for Cassandra, a stronger binding may be necessary, we'll need to figure out how we can use our currently limited powers to fight her if necessary, to beat her into submission. But we should try to think of what we can provide her that she might be willing to become our subordinate for: maybe a Charm that can make her feeding on donated blood a viable way to sate her?

And you know, we completely forgot about Apollo and Zach.

We should ask Isabella about her other supernatural minions, if they still follow her after her power was interrupted when we broke her from the Corruptor's control.
>>
>>34092228
Wait a sec. Changing my vote in >>34092370 to [x] Other: chat with Jill about how she's doing, letting her know that we've got lots of errands to run and that's why we're going to be disappearing a lot, and how she feels about Annabelle (I was thinking of inviting Annabelle over to have some social interaction with people that can see and hear her, to help get her loyalty).

>>34092228

I also spport talking to Jill, though.

((Hrmm. Okay, talking to Jill and chatting to Annabelle both have majority support.))
>>
>>34092532
I don't think we should be direct until we actually have a plan on how to get Cassandra loyal to us.
We need to be able to offer her something that she desires, and would be willing to give up her freedom for.

We haven't even checked through our powers to see if there's anything we can use as a bargaining chip.

The same thing applies to Annabelle. We need to come up with things that she will want that we can control, and keep in mind that Avril might be trying to get her as well.
>>
>>34092749
Given how much of a pain it is when people randomly disappear on you, you guess that you should probably avoid randomly disappearing on other people. At the very least you should let Jill know that you've got a busy day ahead of you.

As you relax your concentration on your telepathic connection and focus on reality again, you see that Jill is putting her shirt on. Pity. She hops out of bed, mostly dressed now, although still with some lovely curves and - oh, she's looking at you. Right, talking.

"Chris?"

"Sorry, just... appreciating the view." You grin, and she sighs, shaking her head and laughing.

"You're a bad, bad man. So what's the plan for today? I assume we're not staying in bed *all* day?"

"Oh, right. Uh, actually, I have a few things to do today. I'm probably going to be out of the house a lot. I was going to go over and see Annabelle, maybe invite her over to have a chance to talk to people who can see and hear her or something. And I have to go deal with Cassandra at some point."

Jill looks puzzled. "Cassandra? Isabella's friend? I thought Isabella was on our side now?"

"Wait, didn't... never mind. Isabella yes, Cassandra no. At least not yet. So I might have to go out a lot. Are you going to be okay here?"

"I guess. Do you mind if I use your laptop to watch TV?"

"No, that's fine, go right ahead. And maybe Masami will stick around and keep you company, I'll check."

Masami is indeed happy to keep Jill company, and with Isabella relaying Annabelle's address, you head out. It's not a long walk, so you go over what you know in your head as you walk. It's not much, unfortunately. Annabelle Lowe, 18. Dead for a little over a week. Trainee social worker. You told her a few days ago that she was dead, but you didn't have much of a chance to follow up. Now you get to tidy up this loose end, as a side benefit to tidying up Cassandra's. Fitting, since Cassandra killed her.

What do you want to say to her? How are you approaching this?
>>
>>34093836
Start off with small talk, chat, see how she's been, what's up with he, segue into how she feels about being dead/her killer (does she know she got murdered?), hopefully we can leverage her response into getting her on board.
>>
>>34093836
>Friendly. She's dead, we're dead, we have that in common. Talk about knowing who killed her and that we plan to bring her to heel. Both her killer and herself are far to valuable both as people a d as supernatural resources to be rogue. We could offer Annabelle a means to acquire interaction and eventually form. We don't know how, yet, but we seem to be able to eventually do whatever we put our mind too.
>>
>>34093836
I want to bring in Annabelle to confront Cassandra or something. It would be a waste not to utilize her in someway. But we should first find out where Cassandra is, when we can find her, and set up a more advantageous situation for us.

Like maybe, if Cassandra doesn't know Annabelle is a ghost. We 'blackmail' her and say with Isabelle's connections, and a ' live witness/survivor' to her attacks. We could send her to jail or worse.

Barring that if we want to go a more friendly route, talking would be a good way to start, and maybe sharing our experiences on how we died. You know using our ability/move about our death.
>>
>>34093836
Friendly, small talk, ask how she's been occupying her time.

>>34094061
>I want to bring in Annabelle to confront Cassandra or something
Cassandra has no remorse or regrets for killing.
The blackmail idea will likely need some evidence, since everyone believes that Annabelle is dead, and we would need to prove that she's not just a ghost.
>>
>>34094008
((She knows she's dead and that she died after the party, and probably knows that the police suspect she was murdered. You didn't tell her about Cassandra or anything like that, though.))
>>
>>34094171
>>34094229
Ok, we should gather more information and get a better feel/reading on Cass then. I'm fine with small chat for now.

And maybe have Isabelle or someone like Ester get information on the investigation of Anna, and maybe use it as blackmail in the future, if it in anyway a viable alternative. Rather not kill more people.

>>

You said she knows she is dead but, has Cassandra met ghost Annabelle yet?
>>
>>34094590
((No, she hasn't.))
>>
>>34094527
Annabelle is quite surprised when you knock on her door - she obviously wasn't expecting any visitors at all. You're not quite sure how Avril's glamour works, but from her opening the door and the open laptop you spot on the living room table, it seems like she can interact fine with inanimate things if she wants to. She goes to fix you a cup of tea, pauses, and comes to sit back down with a certain amount of embarrassment.

There's an awkward pause, and you explain that you thought you ought to drop by, check on her, see how she's doing, etc. Annabelle - 'call me Anne, please' - is hesitant and shy at first, but you slowly draw her out of her shell a bit. It's a lot like interacting with Jill, or at least how interacting with Jill used to be, before everything. In fact Anne is, if anything, even more shy than Jill.

Eventually you work things round to talking about Anne's death. She's glanced over the news reports, but it seems like she's been trying to avoid the subject as far as possible, to pretend it's not that big a deal. She gives you the most awkward, fake smile ever and says that she's trying to 'look on the bright side'. Ah, denial.

She latches onto your hint that you might be able to help her interact with more people with barely-concealed desperation, leaning forward and dropping her cheerful facade for a moment. You explain that it will be complicated and you're not certain what will be involved, but it's definitely possible. (With the amount of magic you can throw around these days, almost anything is possible.)

You also ask Anne if she's thought much about who killed her. She knows that the police suspect murder, but she claims she doesn't remember anything about her death.

You leave with a standing invitation for Anne to come visit you and hang out some time, just to chat. That wins you a genuine smile, brief though it is. She waves goodbye, pushes the door shut, and goes back to her quiet, empty flat.

Ignoring the shitheel, what plans do we have regarding the Winter King? He's still out there, we only had a truce until the Excrucians were gone.
Is he still something we will have to consider?

He did see that we were able to get rid of the two; would he still want to pick a fight with someone who could do that?
